From late-nighter.com, it's late night last night with John Schneider.
And now, here's John.
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to Late Night Last Night here on this Thursday, October 23rd,
to talk about everything that we saw in Late Night Last Night on Wednesday, October 22nd.
And let's dive right in with our four shows that were on the air.
We're going to start over at Fallon, where he had four guests on the show last night.
So no games for Fallon and no really cameos for Fallon.
He just had three guests and then a musical guest.
But he's going to open up his show talking about Trump demolishing the entire East Wing,
which is something that was a huge topic across late night through every monologue,
every conversation about what Trump is doing to the White House.
That was the big story of the night.
He's going to speak to the Louvre's head of security about the recent jewel heist,
which was a topic that a lot of the late night shows addressed over the last couple of days.
So it's a fun sketch that he does there with one of his writers.
And he's going to promote his new book, Five More Sleeps Till Halloween, which is coming out very soon.
The main guest on Fallon last night was Adam Brody, who's promoting the second season of Nobody Wants This,
which I believe premieres tomorrow.
They talk about Adam getting a Teen Choice Award for his work on the O.C.
see back in the early 2000s and this great picture of his nobody wants this co-star christin bell
giving him this award which was a surfboard back in 2005 and how he just received a critic's choice
award for his work on nobody wants this it's actually adam's first time on fallon so it was nice to see
their interaction gaiton matarazo is the second guest on phallon last night he is there to promote
the final season of stranger things it's his 11th time on the show the last was in 2023 and even
Fallon acknowledges how good it is to have Gaden there
by showing a picture of him and the rest of the Stranger Things kids
from 10 years ago when they were on the show.
Gaden's going to talk about people dressing as Dustin for Halloween
and how he often dresses as Hans Solo.
So a lot of Halloween talk naturally as we inch closer to Halloween next week.
Mark Messier is the third guest on Fallon last night,
the hockey legend.
He talks about being a hockey analyst for ESPN
and his predictions for the upcoming or for the other
just started an hl season as well as him dressing up as elvis for halloween so he's going to do that
he's also going to present jimmy with a 100 years jersey for the rangers that has phallon on the back
so he's there to be a brand ambassador for the new york rangers naturally and he brings a great
100 years jersey over to jimmy phallon as a gift corny barnett is the musical guest on phallon
last night's or seventh time on the show the last was in 2021 and she's going to perform stay in your lane
Over at Seth Myers, we have a couple of guests on the show after a closer look
that talks about the Republicans' opinions on the No King's Rally, as well as Trump
destroying the East Wing and how Trump's claiming other presidents have wanted to do this
for years.
So it's good, a closer look.
Maya Rudolph, his co-pass member from many years at Saturday Night Live, is the main
guest on Seth Myers last night.
She's there to promote the new season of Lute.
It's the third season.
She's there for the 12th time.
The last was in 2024.
for, and they're going to discuss this great story about Maya showing up backstage during
the Amy Polar episode of Saturday Night Live a couple weeks ago, and how she's actually
never been to an episode of SNL that she has not appeared in, but she's hanging out backstage,
her Will Forte, and they're there and they're having a cast reunion, and let's listen to the
story that she tells Seth Myers.
Amy was obviously hosting, Tina and I did something about it.
Well, yeah, you guys did that incredible update.
It was great. I was so happy.
Avengers assemble.
And then you guys all.
But then there were a couple of Avengers backstage, because we were.
It was you and Forte, also just watching the show.
And then we were the five of us were together.
Very special.
We wanted to get a picture.
Yeah.
Your partner, Paul Thomas Anderson, was there.
Yes.
An incredible director.
He is.
He made one of the great movies of this year, one battle after another.
And when he stood up with a camera, I was like, here we go.
Yeah, because we got a couple, like.
So they're getting ready.
It is going to be a great photo of this reuniting of the cast members there.
So we got Seth, Amy, Maya, Will Forte, Tina Faye.
They're all hanging out backstage.
A friend text chain was like, hey, cute photo.
Can we get one from the front?
Yeah.
And then I said, I think Paul took some.
And I think you said, oh, because he's notoriously bad at taking photos.
But then this is the best one he got.
This is a little bit of a visual thing.
So if you're watching us on the late night or YouTube channel, I'm going to put up this picture.
But Seth shows this picture, which is a very out of focus photo that PTA took of the five of them.
And it is just a very poorly taken photo.
And it's very funny to see.
That's the best one he got.
That's right.
The other ones were worse than this one.
This one you can tell there's human being in a photo.
Obviously, he took care of you first, you know.
It looks like Amy's got that filter on that makes you barf rainbows.
Very popular.
Yeah, she's very popular with the kids.
Yeah, so just if you're listening on our audio feeds,
the only one who's sort of in focus is maybe Seth a little bit,
Will Forte in the back there.
But yeah, Maya, Amy Tina, all completely or mostly out of focus
with some weird lines on that photo.
It was not a great picture and what could have been an epic moment backstage
with former cast members watching Saturday Night Live together.
But that was a really fun moment there.
And it wasn't the only fun moment of that interview,
which Maya's interview was my favorite interview on late night last night.
After talking about Lute season three and a harassinell character,
Glenda Goodwin that she used to write with Emily Spivey.
They bring in an ornithologist, which is the topic, you know, a bird watcher.
That was the topic of one episode of Lute.
And that's played by guest Paula Pell, who's making a cameo here, playing a birdwatcher
to talk about bird watching and how Maya thinks she's an expert birdwatcher
because she had to study it for an episode of Lute.
And it is very funny with Paula and Maya, who are obviously great friends going back to
the days where Paula used to write for Saturday Night Live.
go check that one out.
Adam Polly is the second guest on Seth Myers.
This is the seventh time on the show.
The last was in May, and he is a new special coming out.
So he's going to talk about being at his cousin's wedding.
It's a really funny story.
How someone was asking for pictures before realizing who he was
and that he wasn't that famous and says, okay, never mind.
He talks about his dad being at the show at Seth last night
and his dad being difficult to work with when he brought him out for the special
and his recent appearance on Great British Bake Off and showing off what he made over there.
over at Colbert, he's going to also talk about the destruction of the East Wing of the White House
and Trump wanting $230 million from the Department of Justice
because he was sort of suing himself.
And there's some great jokes there.
I'm sure that that's going to make its way over to Seth and Fallon tonight that they'll talk about.
That it is also covered on The Daily Show, which we'll get to in a moment.
There's also a segment that he does with one of his writers where he talks about the U.S. citizenship test getting harder.
And he welcomes in his Colombian writer, Felipe Torres, Medina, who has a new book, America, let me in.
And he just became an American citizen.
And they're going to play a game so you think you're American.
It's a very funny moment there prior to any of the guests coming out.
Emma Stone is the main guest on Colbert last night.
She's promoting Bagonia.
It's her fourth time on the show.
The last was in 2024.
And she's going to talk about her name actually being Emily.
I think this was a pretty big story last year about people like, wait, Emma Stone.
Emma's not a real name, but it is Emily.
and how she actually almost became Riley Stone back in the day
when she was a guest on Malcolm in the middle
and people were calling her Riley
and she had no idea of who they were calling.
So she's like, okay, I'm going to go with Emma.
She's going to talk about Bagonia,
the film about conspiracy theories and all of that
and how her mom actually got involved
in some of the editing notes for the film.
And then she's going to talk about how, you know,
her parents always grew up loving Saturday Night Live
and, you know, she'd mention us to Stephen
that she's been a guest on the show a few times
and her being inspired by Gilda Radner,
which is if you're a big S&O,
and you would know that story perhaps and you know of course emma playing rosanna rosanna dana at the 40th anniversary of saturday
and at live and uh she has a nice moment here where she's talking to steven yeah that is s and l is like
my favorite place in the entire world so well thanks for stopping by the ed's all this is good too
oh no doubt yeah it's pretty good too yeah no i like it here as well no can we do a sketch
Did we do a sketch?
A hundred percent.
Okay, next time.
Wait.
Wait.
Hey.
No.
As she realizes that there may not be a Ness time.
Hey, I'm here till May, baby.
Okay.
Yeah, we'll see if they end up doing a sketch together after she says that S&L is a favorite place to be and not the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Alex Wagner is the other guest on the show.
It's her 11th time on.
Colbert. She has a new podcast, Runaway Country. So she's going to talk about loving to watch
the diplomat and Project 2025 and how that's sort of taking over the government. So it's more
of a political talk there between Wagner and Colbert. Over at the Daily Show, Michael
Costa's hosting for the second day in a row. He's going to talk about the government shutdown
and the lack of nuclear weapon guards and air traffic controllers who are on unpaid leave
now. And again, the $230 million that Trump is asking for and saying he's going to donate to
charity if he gets it. He's going to go to correspondent Troy Awada at the White House lab to talk
about some rifting that happens at the White House. The guest on The Daily Show is Ryan Holliday,
who is responsible for the books The Daily Stoic and Wisdom takes work. He's going to talk to
Costa about how to be practical in stressful situations. And then Lewis Black is going to make an
appearance on the Daily Show to talk about the protein craze, like how there's now protein Doritos.
And this was a hilarious segment. I definitely think if you're a fan of Lewis Black,
go watch this five minute a bit about protein and ways that people are getting protein and
giving it to their kids now.
So it was a good moment last night on the Daily Show.
But overall, I think Maya Rudolph's appearance on the late night with Seth Myers was the best
moment of the night for me on late night last night.
I think that she had an amazing interview.
There were some really fun stories.
If you're a big fan of Saturday Night, there's a lot of bonus things here, getting
to see Paula Pell.
It was also fantastic.
And I love hearing about Maya being backstage at the Amy Polar Show supporting her friend as well.
So that was a great moment last night on late night.
We have another great night of late night setting up for you
where we're going to have Kristen Bell, Adam Brody's co-star, on Fallon tonight.
Dave Franco will be there as well on Colbert.
He has Ben Stiller and Tignitaro.
At Seth Myers, we have Leslie Jones coming over there.
So that would be fascinating to see.
I know Leslie just had some comments about SNL and the lack of diversity in the cast.
So we'll see if that gets addressed tonight on Seth's show.
And then we have Jeff Tweedy on the Daily.
show with Michael Costa. So we just saw Michael
there a couple of days ago. So, of course,
I will be back tomorrow to talk about everything
that happens in late night tonight. And I
really look forward to being back here with you.
