From late-nighter.com, it's late night last night with John Schneider.
And now here's John.
Hello, everybody, and welcome to late night last night here on this Thursday, October 9th,
to talk about everything that we saw in late night last night on Wednesday, October 8th,
And it was a big night for one particular host,
and that would be Seth Myers, who had Taylor Swift as his only guest,
a full takeover of late night with Seth Myers.
It was a really incredible night over at Seth,
especially if you are a Taylor fan with Taylor's name in the intro.
They were teasing lower thirds heading to commercials.
They got the orange glitter font treatment.
Behind the scenes photos showed video walls with Seth's audience in the holding area
that had custom takeover graphics there.
It was just really exciting from people who were at the show.
Seth apparently played Taylor songs for the audience between breaks.
He dressed up pretty nice.
He got like the suit look going, which, you know, he's a little bit more casual in the way that he's been dressing.
So it's been a while since he's looked like that.
And I think that he had a great night overall.
Let's talk about what we saw on the show, which is that, you know, there was some expectation
that Taylor was going to be taking over the entire show.
The big question was, was she going to be a part of closer look?
And she was not.
but there was some great references here.
So this is Seth addressing the audience
who are mostly Taylor fans,
just preparing them that they're about to hear
a little bit of politics talk.
It's time to get to the part of the show
you've all been waiting for,
the reason everyone's here tonight.
That's right, politics.
As usual, our first segment of the show
is a closer look, and if you're watching it home,
you may not know this,
but we have an entire audience
of closer look super fans here tonight.
Yes, people are there definitely only.
to see a closer look.
This is really cool.
Someone gave me a friendship bracelet
that says, A Closer Look.
A bunch of people came dressed like me
from my different eras,
like my man at desk telling joke era,
and that's my only one.
Anyway, the point...
That's my favorite era of Seth, by the way,
and there's a great visual
of the A Closer Look, Friendship Braclet
that was given to Seth Myers last night.
I thought that that was a great segment there.
He did tease a little bit about Taylor
being on the show in the middle of a closer look.
It affects everything from the health department
to the Department of Education
to the tortured poets department.
I know.
I know that's pandering.
I just want to keep you guys interested.
Yeah, he had no choice but to pander.
Of course, he's talking about the government shut down.
And then he mentions the different departments
that have been affected, including the tortured poets department.
To the end of a closer look, he does say,
remember the next time you're flying, much like a song from our guest,
your flight might be, and then inserts Taylor saying canceled.
So there were some fun moments there.
if you were just watching the start of the show waiting for Taylor,
who does appear right after that following the commercial.
It's her third time on set.
The first since 2021, and she's going to talk about her new album release
and traveling with her family.
And it's a really nice interview.
I think Taylor was super comfortable talking about everything.
She says this is her favorite album that she's released.
And that was really cool to hear.
Seth and Taylor go back a long time, back to the 2009 when Taylor hosted S&L
and did Double Duty.
So we'll talk about that in a moment.
Seth is going to talk about meeting her family.
And Taylor says that the tour that they've been going on for press for the new album
has had her entire family with her the full time.
So that was really cool to get to hear.
And Seth talks about how his family behaves versus Taylor's family.
Your family, and I've been lucky enough to meet them.
You know, obviously briefly over the years, they're so much better behaved than my family.
Like backstage in the green room, like impeccable compared to my family.
which is tell me more about this my family like they're just stuffing the free candy in their pockets
they definitely also think that because my name is in the title of the show it also equally belongs to
them and you know if you're a fan of late night you know that obviously uh set's brother josh has been on
a million times um he's the most frequent guest that's ever been on set's show and then his parents
are always brought on uh at thanksgiving so there's a long history of set's family being on late night
and I thought it was fun to compare Taylor's family to Seth's family there.
She's going to talk about baking bread, which you may have heard a lot about on New Heights
and bringing some bread to Seth.
He's going to show the bread that Taylor brought him.
And her producers, there's a video clip of her asking her producers to put bread in one of her music videos.
They're going to do a bit about the wedding invitations that she's preparing for her
and Travis Kelsey's upcoming wedding.
So she said she could start thinking about that as soon as the album release continues to go out.
Then there's a very funny story about Travis Kelsey, who apparently really loves Greta Gerwig and is pretty obsessed with her.
And then he's watching one of Taylor's concerts during the Eros tour and ends up talking to Hugh Grant's wife thinking that she's Greta Gerwig.
So that was a very funny story to hear that Travis and Taylor after every show would go in the car whenever Travis was there and talk about what happened.
And Travis would give the tea to Taylor.
and then he was saying how he said something to Greta Gerwig and she didn't really respond
the way that he thought she would and it turns out it wasn't her so that was a good story
there and then Seth's going to bring up the digital short that Taylor was in Firelight which was
back in 2009 on SNL and I thought they had a fun conversation about Taylor's time in Saturday
alive and how it prepared her for everything that she's done since then and this was like I look
back on this week of my life this was like to me like the most exciting thing that it ever happened
to me in my life at 19. And, like, and definitely, like, hosting SNL, like, that was
absolutely the most amount of times I changed clothes, like, at that point until the ERAs tour.
Oh, that was, you knew you could do the ERIS tour because of Estelle. I knew I could do the
heiress tour. Like, I can get these costume changes. Like, this is, this is the most fast-paced
thing ever, but, like, SNL was so much fun. And that's when I got to meet you.
It's fantastic. We were very lucky. Yeah, really nice moment. Obviously, it's honestly one of my
favorite episodes of the Saturday in Live back in season 35. I think that Taylor did such a fantastic
job with that episode. And I recommend you go back and watch it if you have not seen it.
So Taylor did great on Seth. She also did great on Fallon on Monday. Speaking of Fallon,
let's head over to his show where he had Jared Letto as his main guest for the 11th time on
the show. The first is 2023. He's going to kick off the show with a hashtags. They'll do
the monologue and then hashtags. The hashtags, things I'd rather do than go Apple picking. It was really
hilarious. He did a lot of great back and forth with Steve Higgins on this one. It seems like
hashtag is coming back. Like it was a long time we didn't see it, but now he's bringing it back
every week. So that's exciting there. Jared is promoting Tron Ares, which we just saw
Jeff Bridges promoting on Kimmel the night prior. Jared's going to talk about climbing the Empire
State Building and they end up looking at the backdrop of Fallon's set where he has the New York
skyline and they talk about the Empire State Building. So it was a good like meta moment of them
looking at the backdrop there. They're going to play a Tron version of Hey Robot, which is a game that he
plays every now and then.
I think the last time was with Nate Bar Gatsy a little bit ago.
Page de Sorbo of Giggly Squad and Summerhouse is the second guest on the show.
And you may remember the Page de Sorbo was the announcer on the tonight show in July with Hannah
Burner replacing Steve Higgins for a few days.
And they have a good conversation about her loungeware that she is putting out this week.
Haley Williams, Powermore lead singer, performs True Believer on the show.
That is the music for the night at the Tonight Show.
Over at Kimmel, he's going to open up his show.
talking about Trump sending troops to Democrat-run cities.
And he actually puts out a challenge to the audience.
He's going to invite people to make videos of their war-torn communities with the hashtag,
Show Me Your Hellhole.
And then, you know, we did put an article about that on Late Nighter.
I'm really curious if that's going to be followed up at some point, maybe tomorrow,
maybe next week, are we going to see the video sent in from Democrats in Democrat cities
showing off their hellholes to Kimmel?
if that challenge actually does go through.
So that will be interesting.
He's then going to talk to the Q and on Shaman who's there,
one of his, I guess,
somebody who works for the show was playing him.
And it was a funny moment.
And then, you know, we said yesterday on the show
that Tim Allen was going to be the main guest.
Tim Allen's sick.
So Anthony Anderson actually steps in as the main guest here.
Anthony Anderson, I believe, making his 64th appearance on Kimmel.
I mean, that's pretty incredible.
He's obviously hosted Kimmel's show many times.
He's going to talk about that and, you know, what recently happened with Kimmel in this clip here.
I'm trying to get this record on your show.
Well, you've got the record.
You're just extending your lead.
That's what I'm doing.
Okay, cool.
Yeah.
You're like the show Hey, Otani of a talk of Jimmy Kimmel Live post slash guests.
Yeah.
And thank you, by the way.
You reached out to me many times during our while we were pulled off the air.
Yes.
And I was thinking about it.
I was thinking like, oh, yeah, it's kind of like you've got pulled off the air also.
Yeah, I mean, if Kimmel goes off the year, Anthony Anderson does too, but thankfully
Kimmel's back and so is Anderson on his show for, again, incredibly, the 64th time.
That's just so cool.
He's going to talk about his dad and working with Chris Rock on an upcoming very secret new
projects, doesn't reveal too much there.
And then the Dodgers, he actually has a World Series ring that he was given when the
Dodgers won the World Series last year.
And then he hands it over to Kimmel who looks at it.
And then he says to Kimmel, you deserve to keep it after what you've been through the last couple of weeks.
So there's a great moment there with Anderson and Kimmel.
Jody Turner Smith from Tron to Aries is also there.
So Tron Aries clearly the big promotional thing that that's happening across the late night sphere this week.
Jody Turner Smith is going to talk about her daughter loving K-pop Demon Hunters and making the film.
Madison Cunningham will perform music on Kimmel tonight.
She performs Break the Jaw.
So that is a good performance there from Madison.
Cunningham over at the Daily
Show, Josh Johnson is hosting for the
second day in a row. There's
a whole bit about the government shut down
and how they're looking into Amelia Earhart
now at all
places. And he's actually going to go
to Jordan Klepper, who is visiting the
Atlanta air traffic control where there's
a lot of stories throughout late night about air
traffic control not being there
and that's something that was covered a little bit on the daily
show last night, but covered across late night and
Fallon's monologue and Kimmel's monologue
there tonight. And then again on the Daily Show. So
Klepper is going to talk about just how crazy it is it being at air traffic control with nobody
there and how, yeah, everything makes sense.
We're going to actually also have Ronnie Chang on the show.
So a lot of Daily Show hosts there last night.
He was talking about Chucky Cheese's adult-only arcade that recently opened and a woman who got
stuck in an arcade machine.
So it was a very funny bit from Ronnie Chang.
I definitely recommend you go back and watch that.
And then Anthony Ramos is the guest on the Daily Show last night to talk about his new movie,
A House of Dynamite.
and there is a pretty good interview with Josh Johnson and Anthony Ramos.
So that was what happened late night last night on Wednesday, October 8th.
Clearly the story of the night, Taylor Swift being on late night with Seth Myers.
Just a really long, extended, great interview with Taylor Swift.
I thought that Seth did a fantastic job.
We will be back tomorrow to talk about what happens on late night tonight,
where Seth has Ryan Reynolds on the show.
So that'll be another big guest for him on the tonight show.
we have Channing Tatum making his way over there.
So we'll hear from Channing, who we heard from earlier in the week as well.
And then Caitlin Olson is the main guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
So we'll be back tomorrow to talk about what happened late night last night for the final night of the week.
