Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum - SAM JONES III: Smallville Origins & How One Bad Decision Almost Cost Him Everything

Episode Date: August 18, 2026

Sam Jones III (Smallville, Blue Mountain State) finally comes by and this one goes everywhere I hoped it would. We start with the Pete Ross days, meeting Tom Welling in the van, the chemistry read wit...h Allison Mack, and the Seinfeld night a crowd chased us down the street. Then Sam opens all the way up about the one bad decision that sent him to prison, the DEA setup posing as the Mexican mafia, and the friend who walked free while Sam took time. He tells me about Brother Elam, the man who changed his life inside, the depression that nearly took him when Elam was gone, and the father who talked him back from the edge. Sam Jones, the third is here or Sam Jones, thrice. I loved having him on. Not only was he a cast member for Smallville for two seasons, but he really opened up and, you know, he had a, it's been a crazy life. I mean, talk about someone who got a, got on a big show and then kind of just got in a little trouble, went to prison. And And his journey and what he does now is really helping people and his fitness and mental health.
Starting point is 00:03:32 And it's a beautiful thing. So, you know, everybody deserves a second chance. And Sam Jones, the third, definitely does. It was good to have him on the cruise too. He was there. A lot of people on the cruise. And what else can I say? I think that's about it.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Also, if you want to buy some of this, this is the Rosie's Puppy Fresh Breath for your dog. It's got my picture on my doggy's little capful in your dog's water. Odorless tasteless and your dog's breath will be better. So what are you waiting for? And the fart book is also on Amazon. My fart book, The Talented Fartter is pretty amazing. And without further ado, let's get into one of my favorites, Sam Jones III. Where you get nervous for a role.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Oh, my God. I get panicked. Do you get anxiety? Yeah, I live with anxiety. What are you doing? I was just taking a live picture. I always get nervous, but that's fun. I look forward to it.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Let's get everything out of today we can. And how much time do you have left? And how are you going to use it well? So come on now. We would have to do another inside of you. But actually, but that's kind of what you're doing, Michael. I mean, you're on this road, this journey of what's inside of you. Inside of you with Michael Rosenbaum was not recorded in front of a live studio audience.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Is this why you're so good looking at? have such a sweet body because of all the water you drink. It's important. Do you think it's like, do you really, it's extremely important? Man, come on. That's enough water. It is. It's too much.
Starting point is 00:05:10 You're going to be over hydrated. One gallon of water today. Is that a gallon right there? Yeah. That's a half. I usually do a half in the morning, but you were rushing me. So I got it in now. I was rushing you.
Starting point is 00:05:22 You're on time right now. I know, but you were rushing me since yesterday. Are you going to be on time? S. Are you going to be on time? I like brother. Brother. But hang on.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Is it warranted? Because how many times have you canceled on me? I'm going to be in L.A. I'm going to do it to be next week. Exactly. You got to be accountable. But I flew out for you, baby. You did.
Starting point is 00:05:41 I flew out for other things. No, I didn't. You got stuff after me. I mean, I'm saying I'm Jones in third. Any city I got stuff, but I came for Michael Rosenbaum. Michael Rosenbaum is the only reason. You know, what do you remember when you first got Smallville? I mean, what were you like?
Starting point is 00:05:57 You were young. You were like eager. you were just excited about everything. Yeah. You know, and I remember meeting you and you were just so cool and like a, you just felt like a real dude and you were just there to have fun. You were like excited about everything. Yeah, I mean, I think to this day, I'm still excited about everything. I'm excited to be here with you right now.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Really? Hell yeah. I'm excited to be here with you. You saw the energy outside. It was real. I love it. I love it. I just got a good family, good parents, good upbringing.
Starting point is 00:06:22 So, I mean, I'm just, since the day you met me, I'm still the same person. You know what I mean? Really? Yeah. Because you've gone through ups and downs and we'll get it. into that but like growing up as a kid did you cause any trouble no growing up as a kid i was like always small my mother would tell me that good things come in small packages yeah so that's true yeah so that gives you an idea of how small i was um i wore glasses really yeah i had the type of mom
Starting point is 00:06:48 always speaking positive affirmations on me Malcolm x wore glasses she would give me like all the cool people that wore glasses you know what I mean absolutely so she was loving she was always like I love you I'm proud of you. She was that kind of mother. She was a type of mother that, yeah, anything you put your mind on and you believe in, you can achieve it. And then my dad was more of the,
Starting point is 00:07:08 like if you work hard on yourself, then nobody can beat you. If you put in the work on yourself, then no matter what you want to do, no one can beat you. So I had like the strong love and I had the nurturing love. That's pretty amazing.
Starting point is 00:07:20 I see you just like, when you think of your parents, you kind of get a little bit emotional. Of course. You met my dad. Oh, yeah. You know my dad. The best.
Starting point is 00:07:27 He's so laid back. He's just cool, man. He's just a cool dude, real dude, positive. He's my super, Superman, yeah. So they're there for success and they're there for when you hit bottom. Yeah, always. They were always there. It was never any kind of like, like, oh, we're disappointed or...
Starting point is 00:07:42 Nah, never. Did you audition? How many times did you audition for Smallville? Well, for Smallville, I mean, I got Smallville pretty soon after I came to L.A. I did two movies before that, that I starred in both the movies. One was called ZigZag with Wesley Snipes, John Leggizamo, Oliver Platt. How was Wesley Snipes? He was amazing.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Was he cool? Bro, you got to think, growing up, I idolized Wesley's Night. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? Blade, freaking New Jack City. He knew the martial arts. He had the physique. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:10 And it was David Goyer's first film that he directed. So, you know, he's a huge, huge writer-creator. Were you nervous? No, I wasn't nervous. In the beginning, like day one. No. You never get nervous? Okay, I don't really get nervous.
Starting point is 00:08:23 So my dad told me in the beginning when I thought I was nervous. he would said you're not nervous, you have butterflies. And we all get butterflies. And it's about how you nurture those butterflies and then use that energy and shoot that energy like a laser. So nervousness is just the butterflies. You feel it before a fight.
Starting point is 00:08:43 You feel it before a big moment. I feel it before every single audition. If it's not there, I know I'm not going to do good. But when I feel that the butterflies going, and then it's time to get in the room, boom. Man. So your father, I mean, my father, I'd be like, quit being a pussy.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Nah. Quit being a weenie. Nah. You know, I was just tough love. It was just like, you know. But that's a beautiful thing. I mean, when you, did you know how big Smallville was before you got it? Did they give you the idea that, hey, this is going to be big?
Starting point is 00:09:11 No, I never knew, man. I never knew. I mean, we all grew up wanting to be Superman running around the house with the towel on. I had some, some Superband pajamas that had the slippery feet. Yep. I'd be going down the stairs, slipping down the stairs, trying to fly. You know what I mean? But I had an agent at the time, and she told me, like, she told me, this is going to be the biggest show of the year.
Starting point is 00:09:31 It's a pilot, and you have to get it. And I was like, all right. And then she's told me, there's a guy, Michael Rosenbaum, he gets a pilot every single year. He's on it. They didn't say that. I swear. Really? I swear she did.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Oh, that's hilarious. Yeah. And she said it's going to be big. I couldn't go to the initial audition because I was filming a movie. So the audition they had for me was on a Sunday. It was at a Mike Tolan's house. Oh, yeah. So it was Mike Tolan.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Robbins. Yeah, Robbins. What's that other guys? Joe DeVola. Crazy Joe DeVola. Yeah, shout out to Joe DeVola. Joe DeVola. Watch Seinfeld, crazy Joe DeVola.
Starting point is 00:10:02 He was actually the first person I met. So I had an audition on Sunday at Mike Tolan's house. And Joe DeVola came outside when I was getting out of my car. And one thing when I audition, I always dressed like the character. And upon meeting anybody from like the producers to the writers to the casting, I'm in character. So when he was like, hey, Sam, nice to meet you. I was already playing Pete, but I, but I act like Sam and I let them talk to Sam, but Sam is really very close to Pete.
Starting point is 00:10:29 And he said, oh, man, you're perfect for this part. He's like, you're pretty much already Pete. You got nothing to do. You got this brother. And he told me, we're all rooting for you. He said, if you need a little extra time, you can sit in your car, but we're all here for you. How nice is that? And we're rooting for you.
Starting point is 00:10:46 So it was just like, it's amazing. It was kind of meant to be, man. You know what I mean? Inside of you is brought to you by Blue Chew. You see what I have right here in this gold pouch? It is a, is this a pouch? This stuff works, folks. This stuff works.

And we have got a special. deal for our listeners right now listen up you want the stuff when you buy two months of blue chute gold you get the third free with promo code inside no pun intended yeah and you know you had great chemistry with tom yeah especially because you worked mostly with tom yeah and uh and me you know
Starting point is 00:12:13 it was like you just i noticed the one thing about you that was apparent was you always were i could see you working i could see you going how can i make this better yeah how can i make it better What if you do this? What if I, is that okay? Can I react? You know, it was like you wanted to be the best. Right. You didn't want to miss a beat.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Yeah. And did the chemistry with Tom Welling, did it, was it slow or was it immediate when you first met him? I think the first moment I actually saw Tom, we were in a car together, the van. And I remember thinking like, okay, this guy's going to be Superman. Now, remember, I just came off of two movies. I was a star of both movies. And these are my first movies. Never.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Let's go. I'm like, let's go. The first movie is called Snipes. I play Snipes. We got Nelly in here, Zoe Sal Donna, the Oscar winner now. Wow. Great cast. Did you work with her?
Starting point is 00:13:06 Of course. She was like, my love interest. Like, the whole movie was me and her. I'm going to watch it. Yeah, you got to watch it. Yeah, you got to watch it now. Yeah, so I'm getting into the van. And I'm like, he's like, I'm Tom.
Starting point is 00:13:15 I'm like, okay, this is Superman. And I looked. And I'm like, he kind of small for Superman. But he's kind of slunched. He's kind of slunched in the van. And I was sitting behind him. So that was the one thing I thought. He kind of, he kind of, he kind of small for Superman.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I'm supposed to be the best friend. I'm not supposed to be, you know, bigger than Superman. Yeah. And I remember jumping out the van and he was like, and I was like, damn, okay, he's Superman. So right away he was cool. That's amazing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:41 And you guys had chemistry. We had chemistry like right away. Yeah, he always got a kick out of you. I could always tell he just got a kick out of you. Yeah. Like he was always laughing. He was always laughing. He was always laughing.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Sam. Yeah. He always, you know, that's the thing. I loved about Tom is he just made you feel like you were something. You were funny. Yeah. Or whatever. Yeah. He were, you were there. That is one thing Tom does. He always, yeah, he always spins it and makes it about you. Like, he'll be like, yeah, Sam was there and Sam did this and yeah, you did great. Like he, he never wants the attention. He never takes. Yeah. Yeah. He's a team player. He always pushes the attention off. Yeah, I agree. Where you and I,
Starting point is 00:14:21 we like, attention. We like, watch out. Watch out, Tom. Yeah, yeah. Push it all on me, Tom. Rosemomom get out the way. We will get out the way. Do you remember why? Michael and I will have a little attention. Excuse me. Are you giving out more attention? Yes, we'll take that.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Oh, Michael already took it. I'll take a large. Hey, Mike, let me get a little bit of your attention. What about us when we went to see Seinfeld? That was the first moment. I thought, oh, we're on something big. Oh, yeah. Remember we went outside after the Seinfeld?
Starting point is 00:14:44 Yeah. Tom hooked us up with tickets because Seinfeld is a, he was a huge Superman fan. And so we got tickets and we went and we laughed and all this. And when we came out, all of a sudden the mob came. Yeah, it was crazy. And we started, it was the first time. That was the first time we got recognized.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Do you remember what we did? I just, we ran. We ran. We ran. Yeah, we ran. We were like, oh, damn, low. Tom was like, oh, they're like, oh, Superman. We were like, oh, let's run.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Tom started running. We all just started running. We were scared. That was crazy. Yo. And it's crazy. So many memories that I have in my life, I don't remember them until somebody brings them up like you just did.
Starting point is 00:15:18 And then they're vivid, you know? Yeah. It's amazing how you could just spark someone's memory like that. And then they're just like, Yeah. Absolutely. What did playing Pete mean to you personally, maybe in your life at the time
Starting point is 00:15:30 or whatever you were going through? I mean, it was huge. Playing Pete was huge. The audition process was fast, right? So I was at Michael Tolent's house. I did the audition on, let's say it was a Sunday. I had to test, let's say it was on a Wednesday. I remember when I came to the test,
Starting point is 00:15:44 I met John Schneider in the parking lot. Yep. He comes up to me. He's like, hey, you're auditioning? I was like, yeah, he's like, do you need help with your lines? And I'm like, The guy from Dukesahazard is not asking me if I need help with my lines right now.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Like that was dope because growing up, I remember just watching him jumping in the cars and stuff. And I was like, no, no, I got it. And then yeah, I went in, I auditioned. They liked it.
Starting point is 00:16:06 And then they had me do a chemistry read with Allison. And she was like just perfect. Like she was. Yeah, she always knew her lines. Bro, she was perfect. Like, oh, we're going to read together.
Starting point is 00:16:17 And she was always bubbly and happy and friendly since the, okay, we're going to read together. Okay, yeah, let's go in. Okay, you got this, you got that.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Was she intimidating at all? No, she was just light and bubbly and you could tell she had a lot of experience and she wasn't nervous. Like, I harnessed my energy, but she was there for it. And we went in and we had immediate chemistry. And then, yeah, later that night, they just told me I got it. How do you respond when someone says you got it? Like this role was big. You know, the castings or whatever said, your agent said, this is big.
Starting point is 00:16:45 You need to get this. What was going on in your mind? I mean, honestly, I don't remember how many months I was in California. But all of these movies and all these TV shows and all this stuff, it all happen like back to back to back to back to back to back. You just were on a roll. I just went on a roll. Maybe you got famous too fast. I don't know. Everyone has a different experience with everything they go through in life, right? So my experience was just like I don't feel like I ever had a time to separate Sam Jones III, the person and Sam Jones the third, the famous actor, right? Because even
Starting point is 00:17:17 even like you said, we got on the TV show and we go to Seinfeld and people are chasing us down on the street. So there's no time for us to like rise into this like, oh, we're actors or take note of it, like sit back and go, okay, take this in. What is this? Right. You just kind of kept going. I just got on a show. Like, I remember even when I was auditioning for the, when I met John, I remember my agent was on the phone negotiating and like still don't go in, still don't go in, still don't go in. We're still negotiating. Like, still they didn't give us what we want. Like, I was in the parking lot with my agent, like, don't go in, don't go in, don't go in, don't go in. okay we got it going so like it was like that type of time for me like always i went in got the
Starting point is 00:17:55 part okay you got it i went to uh vancouver like the same week like all this stuff for me just happened back to back to back yeah you had no time for sam did you i had no time for like there was never a differentiator between like the person that i currently still am now but um the actor i never had the actor like I'm trying to make it and oh my God, I made it. Like, I came, I was focused. I got, you know, a guest star, focused on the next one. I'm always just so focused.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Yeah, yeah. That now what I try to do is I actually try to appreciate the moment. Like even the moment with you outside, even the moment with you now. I try to take that in. Be present. I try to be more present in the moment because I'm always after. It's like my friend Breon. He's two-time Mr. Olympia.
Starting point is 00:18:45 And I told him like, man, I feel like I really fell off the last month. you know and he said um it's just that you're so great and you're always chasing greatness that you're you're like the one percent of one percent so your standards is so high so when you feel like you fell off you didn't really feel a fall off one of my best friends Brendan boy he told me because i was like day one all over again in the gym and he's like how many day ones are you going to have like sometimes you got to realize it ain't day one anymore like your day like 10 years. And when I talked to Breon, the difference between the thought process of Brendan and Breon is Breon has more of my thought process. Like, no, it is day one again. Like, and that's what keeps us
Starting point is 00:19:27 hungry, even as an actor. Like, you and I were always trying to learn. Like, I think I'm a good actor, but I'm always trying to learn. I just finished a movie the other day. And I'm always right there, always trying to learn. Watching my playback. You take it seriously. I take everything so seriously, man. You know, I think you're insatiable and I think that it's good, but also it can be crippling at times because, you know, in my life, I've decided because I did that too. I was like, I've got to be the best. I got to be the best.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I got to do this. I got to be the funniest. I got to be. And then I realized, you don't, you don't have to be the best. You just have to be good enough. Like for me, hey, I'm happy with what I did. That's good enough. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:11 I don't have, was I absolutely, because there's no such thing as the best. There's no such thing as perfect. We're all imperfect. So if you take every day and just think, hey, I'm going to do the best I can. Right. And if it turns out great, great. But don't, for me, striving for perfection was crippling me. It was crushing me because then if you're not perfect, you're a failure.
Starting point is 00:20:35 That's how I used to think. Yeah, mine is a little bit different. Mine is like, I just try to be the best version of myself. So I don't ever try to be the best. I just try to be the best version of myself. So it was never really crippling. My father told me, like, especially with acting, like, if you're the best version of yourself and you do all that you're supposed to do,
Starting point is 00:20:56 then no one else can beat you. So I never really worried about anybody else are trying to be better than them. I just tried to be the best version of what I can do. And I also think that perfection is the best. the imperfection, right? I think that imperfection is what makes things so perfect. When you're trying to be so perfect, it's never
Starting point is 00:21:14 perfect. It's the flaws that makes... Character. Yeah, makes it authentic. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Exactly. Do you ever get anxiety or depression? Have you ever hit those spots? Yes. You have? Yes. And what did you do about it? Do you ever go to therapy?
Starting point is 00:21:30 I call my dad. That's your therapy? I think my dad is my therapy. Yes, definitely. So, wow. So you, when you're Chad, like what's a conversation you might have with your dad? Like, what would you say to your dad at a time where you're not feeling right? You got to understand. My dad has been grooming me, like, my mindset since I was a little boy.
Starting point is 00:21:49 I'm Sam Jones III. He's Sam Jones Jr. His father was Sam Jones, Sr. And he, since a little kid, you're a Sam, you're a Sam. Like, being a Sam is like being a king. There's something to it, you know? Right. No matter what, if I'm sad, if I'm down, if I need motivation or whatever, I can call him and he can say the right things.
Starting point is 00:22:06 But he also can give me the energy. I need. Like the other day, this is a good example. And he probably doesn't say much, does he? Hey, the other day, I literally had to go to the hospital and I had to get an IV. And on my way to the hospital, I'm like, I got to go to hospital. All right, well, why are you calling me for? Call me when you when you're finished. Now, obviously, why am I calling you for? Because I want some, I'm going to the hospital. I want to talk to you. You know what I mean? And then I remember I had to get the IV. I was like, I got to get IV. He's like, why are you telling me you got to get an IV? The letter stick it in your arm. Call me when you get out of there. But he gives me that tough love. And he gives me that tough love.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Like, come on. Like, we gotta get through this and then we'll talk. Yeah, exactly. You gotta handle that and then we'll talk after that. So then I'm like, damn, okay. So then that gives me enough to go in there, boom. You know what I'm saying? So you're scared of needles and that stuff.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Oh, man, I hate the needles. I told the lady, I'm scared of the needles. Does it, is it gonna hurt? You wanna tell you a trick? You always think you're gonna pass out, right? I don't think I'm gonna pass out. I just don't wanna get pulled. Well, here's the deal.
Starting point is 00:23:02 You'll never pass out if you lie down while they put an idea. You lie down? Because one time I passed out, because she kept missing my vein. And there was a big, I looked at my arm and it was a big bubble. That's crazy. And it was like blowing up. And I go, and I just passed the hell out.
Starting point is 00:23:18 I only got the vein missed one time. She poked me and then I was like, ah, you missed the vein. And then she like dug it around until she got to the vein. So I told the lady the other day like, hey, the other lady missed the vein. And she was like, well, she needs to go back to school. And I just looked away. One, two, three, she stuck me. I got it.
Starting point is 00:23:35 Yep. It's so funny. And then I had the IV in there. And then I got visited by a girl. And then I was like, oh, yeah, I got the IV. I got the IV. Oh, my God, you got a needle. Yeah, they had to poke me, but it was as good.
Starting point is 00:23:47 It's an IV. Just being all tough. Being all tough. Little did she know, I was like, hey, is it going to be a big needle? She wasn't invited in when they were putting in the needle. Oh, no, she wasn't. Yeah, I told her. Hey, you got to get out.
Starting point is 00:23:58 You got to wait in the hallway. They only let family members in. You got to wait in the hallway. Is this going to hurt? Oh, no. It's in. All right, let her in. Yeah, they had to be an IV.
Starting point is 00:24:05 So let me ask you, you call your dad after. Yeah, after everything was cool. And what did he say? You're fine. It's time to move on. Like, I don't know. It's not a big deal after. I remember afterwards I was going on a jog and it was so hot.
Starting point is 00:24:17 I'll tell you how I ended up going to hospital too. I was going on a jog and it was so hot. One of my friends was like, you just got out of hospital. You sound weak. Your voice sounds weak. And like maybe you shouldn't go on a walk or jog. Maybe she's going to like a half walk and go home. And I was like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:24:30 I said, my voice sounds weak. He said, yeah. So, of course, who would I? call, I hang up on him, come on my, dad, does my voice sound weak? This was literally last week. Hell no, your voice doesn't sound weak. I said, Brendan said my voice sounds weak because I just got out of the hospital. That's because Brendan has a weak mindset. Now, if you're going on the jog, then go on that jog, calling me your voice sounds strong. And you need to stop that weak stuff. That's how they talk. You don't talk like that. You're strong. And you
Starting point is 00:24:55 got to tell your mind that you're strong. And go on your jog and call me after. Boom. So here's what I sense. You go through life. You got confidence. You're flowing. Everything's great. But you're human and everyone's so like, I go, I need my dad. As long as he's alive and I think of him is good. You see how we're talking about him the whole time. If David Goyer, if I did a podcast, how's your dad?
Starting point is 00:25:18 How's your dad? My dad, like, I am my dad. I told my dad recently, like, all I want to do in life is be as good as you. Like, I could get emotional talking about that. And he's like, no, no, feel free. Yeah. But yeah, my dad, man. The world.

Starting point is 00:28:40 But anyway, take ultra.com, 15% off with code inside. Now, look, you've got a lot of things going on. You've done a lot of stuff in your life. First, I want to, because you hit rock bottom. You hit it. Yeah. You knew it was coming up. We don't talk about this.
Starting point is 00:28:56 But the important thing is people that sometimes hit rock bottom and do things, what do they do after? Yeah. And you're someone who went to prison, did your time, got out, and you could have easily got into all the bad stuff and said, why me? And just fuck it. But you completely turned it out around into this Sam Jones, the third empire of, you know, bodywork and getting yourself strong mentally, physically, this. And you have so many clients. And you're doing all these things.
Starting point is 00:29:27 But we're going to get there. I want to get to that point. Okay. But how did you go into prison? How did that happen? I would say it happened by making a bad decision. And one thing going through the whole process is in life, no matter how things go, you've got to take accountability, right, for your involvement of whatever it was.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Yeah. So growing up, I was in a program called the MECO program where they take inner city kids and they bust them to the suburbs. So obviously I'm an inner city kid. And the only black people that would be at the schools were the ones that got off the bus. So we had to get what's called host families. And out there you meet a friend. Like if you lived in the suburbs, I would meet you.
Starting point is 00:30:08 And we're good friends. So maybe you could be my host family. So then that's like if it snows or if I want to play basketball, if I want to do something, I can't get on the bus to go home. I can stay at your house, for dinner, all that stuff. I made a friend in high school, best friends in this program. And yeah, he got into some of the wrong things. back in Boston.
Starting point is 00:30:29 He came to California. He said he wanted to be an actor. Okay, he brought his whole family. I introduced him to my agent. He wanted to be an actor. And basically he got into some stuff, and the people that he got into the stuff with was actually like the DEA.
Starting point is 00:30:43 But they were posing as the Mexican mafia. So he thought he was in deep shit with the Mexican mafia. Right. So he came to me one day. He told me the situation, and he's going to die, he did this, something bad had happened.
Starting point is 00:30:56 and he needed money to get himself out of this situation. So I don't want to get into a bunch of the details of how it happened. But anyway, long story short, I end up giving him the money, like lending him the money, going to the bank, getting the money, giving him the money. And then he got himself in a bunch of trouble. I wasn't there, didn't have any involvement, but I gave him the money. And giving him that money is enough to be the overt act
Starting point is 00:31:20 that caused me to get in trouble for a conspiracy because you conspired to do something, knowingly that it was going to be for the wrong intention. What was that money going to? To pay him back? Yeah, well, he was going to go do a drug deal. He was going to go do a drug deal. He gets there.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Everything at the drug deal is placebos. So basically, it was a bunch of fake drugs that he was trying to purchase because he had already gotten trouble for some other shit with them that didn't work out. And this was a scheme that they put together for him. Hey, you know that other thing that you did that went bad? Well, if you do this, it'll make up for that. So really they were like setting him up. Like he didn't even want to do this shit.
Starting point is 00:31:59 So is he the one that was buying the drugs or selling the drugs? He was the one that was like when you gave him that money. He was buying. He was buying the drugs from the DEA. Yes, exactly. But they were really placebo. So there was really no real drugs. All this shit was made up.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Like he wasn't even going to die because they weren't even the fucking, there wasn't even a Mexican mafia. Right. They arrested him right there. The trouble that he got into prior to that. They told him if he did this, this would get him out of debt with that. So they made up all this fake-ass shit for him to do. The drugs that he was going to buy, he didn't even want that shit.
Starting point is 00:32:35 He's not even into that shit. That's not even who he is. But wasn't it a lot of drugs? It was a lot of drugs. Yeah. But, oh, that's another thing. It was like they also did like something called like sentencing entrapment. Because he didn't even want that much drugs.
Starting point is 00:32:49 And then he didn't even have money for that much fucking drugs. And they were like, well, give it to you at a fraction of the price. It's like this fucking microphone. and let's say this is $15,000 microphone, but you just want. Give you for $5,000. I don't have $5,000, Michael. You know this.
Starting point is 00:33:00 I haven't worked in a long time. I mean, I'll give it to you for a penny. A penny, Michael, I don't even, what the fuck do I want this microphone? Right, right. I will give you this microphone for this bottle of water. This $15,000 mic? Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Okay. That's it. Get in here. Fucking go. He's got, like, and then his, and then the sentencing is based on all these fucking drugs that he didn't even want to buy, that he didn't even have money for,
Starting point is 00:33:21 that the money that he brought to the fucking drug deal, wouldn't even equate to the amount of shit that he was going to get. It was a bunch of shit. So ultimately, they said, you gave him the money and whatever you think it looks like, it looks like you gave him the money and the drugs, and then he's going to end up selling those and you're going to get half. So you're conspiring. No, no, half stuff.
Starting point is 00:33:41 It was that the fact that even right now, if I said, Michael, I'm leaving here. I'm actually going to do something wrong right now. If you know about it, then you can be part of the conspiracy as well. So it's just, it's like your knowledge of what happened. Were you surprised that you got arrested? I was very surprised because the night, like, he got arrested, he went off. I didn't talk to him ever again because I was like, okay, I went off, got on a TV show. This happened, like, I got arrested like years after.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Like, this shit had been happened. He went to jail and, yeah, I was surprised because, like, I didn't feel like I did anything. But what happened is once he bailed himself out, he actually became an informant. So he was somebody who worked for the government and they would have him fly around the country meeting other people and getting other people in trouble. So all the people that he got in trouble or told on or told any involvement, everybody had to go to jail except for him. He never even went to jail.
Starting point is 00:34:34 He never went to jail. He never went to jail. So even me, they're like, oh, he said, he got the drugs for me. Yeah, so it was a crazy situation. How long did you go? How are you long with you in prison? I got sentenced to a year and a day. And did you actually serve that?
Starting point is 00:34:46 I served most of it. Yeah, I did most of it. And then I had to do the halfway house and then home confined. And then come on. What was, I mean, I always, you know, wonder what, what it would be like. It's always a terrifying thing. Was it terrifying? It was a mindset, right?
Starting point is 00:35:02 Like, I got arrested and then I bailed myself out. So while fighting the case, I had time to prepare my mind for all that's going on. Were you scared, honestly? Well, a lot happened before the scared of the prison, right? Like, I mean, you met my intern out there, right? Yeah. We'll talk about him and that story later. But prior to that, like, for years,
Starting point is 00:35:23 I had been doing like the Mark Rick Sports Camp for inner city kids, giving back every Sunday, Shriners Children Hospital for years, for Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas. I would be there every single holiday. I would go to like Michaels by arts and crafts, come there by myself, bring other celebrities. I just had did so much positive for the community. And I, for years. So the more thing that was more shocking is when I first had got arrested and it got on the news, how everybody just turned up, turned, turn.
Starting point is 00:35:53 turned on me, that was more of the first, the first shocking thing, right? Because I'm like, man, you guys have everybody. It felt like everybody, except for my family. It felt like everybody. How did your dad? What would your dad say to you? Were you crying to him? I mean, I didn't, I didn't cry. I didn't. The first time I cried, I didn't cry when I was going. I didn't cry in prison. The first time I cried was about like six months after prison. I was sitting in my mom's house and I was just trying to make myself cry, trying to make myself cry, trying to make myself cry, make myself cry because my entire life I've been very in tune with my emotions and that's why I would book so many parts right because I would come in and I would see a place where no one else
Starting point is 00:36:34 would get emotional and I would bring the waterworks I would either cry or fight back the tears or I just had I could play with my emotions well but you couldn't do it the emotions were gone like just going through so much stuff and then going to prison inside there you got to like it's not time it's not like the emotions just go way down So I suppressed my emotion so much that when I came home, I thought there's no way that I could be an actor again because I couldn't even move my body like this. Like your body language matters, your posture matters.
Starting point is 00:37:05 You're always on stress alert. Like you just, it's just a different type of thing. So then you suppress your emotion so much that I remember the first time crying was six months later at my mom's house and I was like, I could do this. I was thinking about all type of sad stuff. I could do this. I could do this. I need to cry. Like, come on, come on.
Starting point is 00:37:22 And one tear came down. out. And it was so refreshing. I was like, yes, I fucking cried. Like it just felt human. It just felt like, man, I'm getting my emotions back. Like, I remember, I remember being at home looking out the window and seeing people laughing and just wiggling their bodies. And I was like, damn, I don't know how to do that anymore. I don't know. I was like, there's no way. I was too serious. I was like, I'll never be able to audition. So it crippled you in a way. Bro. I was like, you can't, I'll never audition again because I just I can't be funny.
Starting point is 00:37:52 I can't be, I don't feel emotions. It changed you. At that time. At that time. Obviously clearly. Obviously not now. Yeah. But was, did you ever get in fights?
Starting point is 00:38:00 Never got in fights. Did anybody almost want to fight you? No, no, none of that. Everybody was cool to you. My thing was when I knew I was going, like when I, like, I fought the case, fought the case, fought the case. And then I knew like, okay, I'm going to have to go, right? I knew I'm going to get some amount of time. Then I started preparing my mind and just like, I remember my attorney because
Starting point is 00:38:20 obviously I hired the best attorneys. They had someone that you could hire that kind of teaches you what is going to be like in prison and tell you what to look out for, what not to do, and what not to say and all of this stuff. And I've known other guys that have been before. And the best piece of advice was everyone has their own experience. Like I was getting all this advice.
Starting point is 00:38:40 But the one person that said everybody has their own experience, I stuck to that because I was like, perfect. I'm going to have my own experience. So when I walked in there, I was like, you know what? I'm going to treat this as a positive. Like, I was so ready to go because I just got a bunch of bad advice when I was there. Like my publicist told me, don't say anything. If I did it again, I would have, I would say something.
Starting point is 00:39:01 I would say I'm not a drug dealer. This is what happened. But, oh, it could hurt your case. Don't say anything. So by not saying anything, the headlines would say like, oh, this person is a drug dealer. This is the Hollywood connection and all this other shit that was all lies. Even in my paperwork, even the, even the prosecutor said, this guy is not the Hollywood. connection. Like it was, my lawyer said, it's like, it's like they threw out a big net trying
Starting point is 00:39:25 to catch sharks. And in my case, they caught a dolphin. And yeah, so I just, you know, I went in there. I kept it positive. And I remember the first day, I was just laying in the grass. And some dudes ran over to me, Jones, Jones, are you okay? Jones, you okay? I said, yeah, I'm okay. What are you doing? I was just, I was like, I'm just enjoying the grass, man, just like, feeling peaceful. And they're like, you can't do that. Like, I had to learn all the things you couldn't do because I wanted to be so positive. Because it shows weakness? No, it's not that it shows weakness.
Starting point is 00:39:53 They thought I was dead in the grass. They thought maybe I got stabbed. It thought, like, yo, man, you can't be laying over there in the grass. We thought you was dead. Like, you can't be like, you know what I'm saying? So it's all type of stuff I had to learn. It showed the ultimate weakness. You're dead.
Starting point is 00:40:04 You know, Jones. You can't do that, man. You can't lie down in the grass. This episode of Inside of You is sponsored by BetterHelp. Starting point is 00:42:33 But yeah, man, I was doing everything. Like, there's classes you can take on there. I'm in there on personal development. In the first three days, I got in trouble because you're supposed to say your name as a number. So your number is whatever your number is, right? So if you want to refer to yourself to somebody, you have to refer to yourself as a number. I just got in trouble because I was walking around
Starting point is 00:42:54 introducing myself to people just super positive and they brought me in the office one day. And it was like, what's your name? And I was like, Sam Jones III. They was like, no, your number. And then I was just, man, I had a different perspective. So they brought in this guy, his name was Brother Elam. He had already been there for 15 years.
Starting point is 00:43:10 And this is Brother Elam. You need to learn and be around Brother Elam. is how you need to be around brother elam because i was a high profile for that prison right so and everybody first when i was coming into the prison they all said that they thought superman was coming so when i came they was kind of let down oh shit we got peep man they thought superman was coming you know what i mean so i was like a let down but um yeah you know i started hanging around brother elm i remember like looking at him like damn i got to hang around this nerd and they give us an outfit and um his was sharp and ironed his boots were like like shined up. He had everything wearing it tight. You know what I mean? And he was just
Starting point is 00:43:48 teaching the classes and all this stuff. And I remember the first day he put a book on my bed. And I was like, man, this nerd put this book on my bed. We were in prison and I got to be hang around. Brother I'm like, I'm trying to make a positive experience. But that guy changed my life, man. And he made me have the ultimate experience. He's like, look, these are the classes I teach on these days. I already signed you up. So you need to be at these classes. And growing up, I could never really read good. That was one thing in Hollywood. Like I had to learn my lines to go on auditions because I could never read. Right.
Starting point is 00:44:14 I was in reading class. I was in personal development classes. All the classes. He learned all that stuff. I was in the classes. I was out on yard lifting weights. Like, I just did it all. I got freaking super shredded and shape in there.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Brother Elam changed your life. Brother Elam was a very big positive factor in my life. And I was also a big positive factor in his life. Do you still talk to him? Something bad happened with Brother Elam. Really? Yeah, he's not around anymore. He passed away.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Yeah, man. Um, he, uh, he came home after, uh, after I had been home, he had came home. He had like, um, some laws change. He ended up getting out because he had 30 years. He didn't get him getting out. And I helped him get an apartment in the, um, man. When he came home, he just couldn't adapt. Yeah, that's a lot of the times I hear about that.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Like even you watched like Shawshank, right? And you see like the guy setting up the news because he's, just couldn't deal with it. He couldn't. He couldn't adapt. It's like you're in prison for that's your life. He's teaching. He's helping. He's he means something. And then he comes out and he feels like I'm lost. I don't know. Was there any warnings? One time I talked to him and he was like, oh, I got out of the, I just got out of the hospital. And he told me, I got out of the hospital. And I was like, what happened? Because I've been calling you. And he said, um, he said I was doing CrossFit. And something happened. And I got a big old cut on my neck. And I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:45:47 What? And then it was actually after that that I helped him get an apartment. I was like, you need to move over here where I'm at. And I got him in an apartment, set him up in an apartment. And he was doing good. And then I remember he did get a little bit depressed at one point. I knocked on his door. His hair was growing out and stuff.
Starting point is 00:46:08 And then shortly after that, I had moved to Miami. And yeah, I wasn't around anymore. So I was just in Miami doing my thing. And then one day I just got a phone call that, uh, yeah, he basically wasn't going to be around anymore. And that was, I would say, the first time that I was in a depression. He meant so much to you. He just, I just couldn't understand it.
Starting point is 00:46:37 And I, that, I mean, prison, I did that, came home, kept positive, but once that happened, I was in a very low place. I was in a very dark, scary place. Really? Bro. And, yeah, I remember just talking to my dad and telling him like, you know, everything to happen. And then I was just in my own, it just made me in my own depression.
Starting point is 00:47:01 It made me in my own depression. And I just remember like, I don't know, it just messed with my mind. I felt like, I just felt like that's what I should do. What stopped you? My dad. But I had a lot of phone calls. And I was like, he tried to do this. tough like now get off the phone like nah you need to stay on this phone right now i'm telling you i'm
Starting point is 00:47:21 telling you right now i'm fighting this i am i'm literally fighting this man and it was so bad in i mean i was just like damn then i had to move i was like fuck i got to get out of here so i ended moving back to la and i still felt it felt it felt it and then uh yeah at some point i at some point i got back emotion and got over the situation but how how did you what really was the trigger i think I just think time talking to my dad. And I remember him telling me one time, yo, if you don't get you, pull your mental together, you're going to be in a crazy house.
Starting point is 00:47:56 And that's what you're going to end up living. And that's where you're going to be. And can't nobody help you but yourself? Now take control of your own brain. You have control over your own mind. So fix yourself. Fix your mind. You're in control of your mind.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Your mind is not in control of you. And I would just like fighting and getting my mind back and getting my mindset back and getting everything back. Man, bro, you got to understand. That was like a breaking point because I've just done so much for so many people over the years before acting. Like my whole life I've been doing things and motivating people and inspiring people and doing stuff. And then just all that I've been through. And then when that happened, it was just, it was just low.
Starting point is 00:48:36 And yeah, once I got past that point, that's when I really made the decision that just the place that I'm in now, I won't work hard on myself. and I'm going to help as many people as I possibly can. I was like, this is going to be, this is going to. Wow. Because when I was in prison, my mom, my mom would always tell me, God makes miracles. God made miracles. Because the first day, they were acting like I was going to get 20 years.
Starting point is 00:49:03 And I was just like, God makes miracles. So when I went there, I would just hold on to that. God makes miracles. God makes miracles. And Brother Elam, actually, because if you see my Instagram name is King, Sam Jones, a third. But in prison, I changed my name to King. because I hated Sam Jones the third.
Starting point is 00:49:18 I was like, man, I literally hate Sam Jones the third. You don't like yourself? No, I love myself now. But at that time. At that time. Yeah, I didn't want nothing to do with Sam Jones and third. Like, this dude fucked up my whole life. Like, like, and I'm going to tell you what I did wrong that I, that I tell all kids that I mentor and everything.
Starting point is 00:49:37 I wasn't a leader at that time. When he came to me, that's like if you come to me after this interview and you say, hey, Sam, that was good. Hey, look, I need some money for this, that, the other. I should have said, Michael, I'm not into what you're into. So I can't help you because I'm not into what you're. I don't even know nothing about what you're doing. Yeah, but can you just help me with the money? And I've helped so many people with money.
Starting point is 00:49:56 I bought everybody. That's not the answer. Yeah. It's not the answer. Yeah, you got to say, hey, that's a bad decision. So I should have been said, hey, they're going to kill you or whatever's going to happen. I'm not sure what's going to happen. But bro, I'm not, I can't help you.
Starting point is 00:50:09 I'm sorry. Like, I should have been a leader. In my entire life, my father always spoke being a leader. and in that time I wasn't a leader. So even when I go to the Mark Rick's inner city program, I always tell the kids, if someone's going to steal a pack of gum and you're walking home from school
Starting point is 00:50:24 and you're not into stealing gum. And he said, oh, wait for my right here. I'm just going to go steal some gum. Nah, I'm not waiting for it. I'm going home. I'm going on my way. I'm not nothing to do involved with that because when I just wait for you
Starting point is 00:50:36 and you steal the gum, then when they come and you tell them, I'm part of it. I'm part of this shit. And I have nothing to do with this. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So you surround yourself now with people that, like, you don't hang around with people that are, like, bad energy or into drugs or into-
Starting point is 00:50:51 If you have low energy, if you're into anything, I'm not, I don't deal with it. You're out. Yeah. And not only that, this was one unique situation, right? Like, obviously, like I said, this is a person that I was so close to. You know what I mean? Yeah, I could tell, man. It's like your dad and him.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Bro, this was like my best friend. You know what I mean? And when you hear the story, you know what I mean? I don't really talk about it much, but it seems like, obviously, I'm a black guy. They made it like I was a big drug deal and all this stuff. But this guy is not a black guy. This is not some hood, like black shit. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:51:26 This is a white suburban kid that was involved in the wrong situation that I tried to help out. But no matter what, the bad decision I made cost me a lot, you know? Bad decisions or- Bad decision. Or everything, aren't there? Bad decisions are everything, everything. You just have to. You just got to.
Starting point is 00:51:44 Do you sense it in your gut, anything? You got to be a leader. You got to be a leader. But it takes guts to walk, right? It takes guts. It takes guts to walk. It takes guts to walk. So you have to be a leader, make good decisions.
Starting point is 00:51:57 And yeah, I mean, it costs me so much. That one bad decision cost me so much. It costs me more than anything, my reputation, right? Like, because what do you know me for? Like, if you were to say, who is Sam? Like, everyone would describe me. I don't think so. I don't think so. Oh, yeah, he was on Smallville. He was on, you know, I think that most people wouldn't even know that really. Hollywood, some people might know it,
Starting point is 00:52:23 but you know this thing in this business, things happen so fast that one day you're like, oh, oh, and the next thing it's somebody else. Yeah. You know? I would have said, and it's about what you do with your life after that. That makes you shine, you know. I mean, yeah, I mean, my life right now, for the last few years, my purpose of life is to help as many people as I possibly can. And you're doing that. Yeah. Inside of you is brought to you by Patreon.

Starting point is 00:55:12 It all started. Because this is pretty cool because you're like in the best shape of your life. Yeah. And so many other people, so many other examples I can show you of people that are like the best shape of their lives ripped abs like I got superstar clients like you know Jack Reacher is one of my clients I got money bag yo big rappers but I also got like teachers and people that have regular jobs and a lot of times when people can't afford my program I'm just like all right well how much money you got like I'll help you anyway yeah I got 50 bucks in the cash
Starting point is 00:55:44 app I'm like all right uh don't worry about it here's a three month program this is what you need to do and this is how it is wow man So I just want to help as many people as I possibly can. And personal development is the first way, right? Fitness and personal development is the first way. And I got a three-step program and it takes three months. And the first thing that I teach you is how to strengthen your mindset. So before you lift weights, before we talk about nutrition,
Starting point is 00:56:08 before we talk about all your goals, we got to talk about your mindset. And the first book I recommend is called You Squared. And that book's about quantum leaps. And what a quantum leap is, You just got to know where you want to be. Like, I knew I wanted to be on a television show. And I just, I just laser focused on that. So I got there fast.
Starting point is 00:56:27 Because nothing else is, it's just one big thing. It's like, you ever read the book Celestein Prophecy? I haven't read that one. You should read that. That's awesome. You read that. It's old school stuff. People used to read it back in the day.
Starting point is 00:56:38 But it's almost like the energy you create and the desire to want something and, like, seeing yourself get it and seeing yourself there is so important. Yeah. And just knowing, you got to know. just got to, you got to see it, know it, believe it. And so that's the first thing is I help people with their mindsets. And then I teach them this mindset that obviously I got a lot of it from my father. I just got so much from going to prison and just life itself. And that's the first thing, the mindset, affirmations, positive affirmations. Gratitudes. Gratitude, freaking vision boards,
Starting point is 00:57:11 right? Even this room, it's cool because it's a lot of your, you know, your movies and nostalgic stuff. But also subconsciously, it's less. It's a little. It's letting you know like, man, I've achieved all this stuff, even if that's not the way that you look at it, right? Surrounding yourself with good energy. So I teach a mindset first. Next is a nutrition, like I was telling you about the water. If you don't know about food, food is fuel.
Starting point is 00:57:33 So you got to know the right fuel to put in your body at the right time. And once you got the mindset and the food, even if you weren't to work out, you'd start looking better and feeling better. I need to do that. Bro, you need to do it. You have to do it. If not. And I'm the best.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I'm the best because I take the time and I just like bro you see how that just came out I'm the best that's an affirmation and I'm serious about it there's no other coach that's doing it like me maybe like the top of the top like you tell people what to eat bro like this is what you can eat in the morning this week I make I make you a meal plan but not only that I explain why are you eating slow digesting carbs why is it important that you eat every three hours to speed up your metabolism why is cayenne pepper speed up your metabolism so if I got your metabolism sped up and I got your metabolism sped up and I got to you you eating every few hours the right portions because your metabolism sped up and I got you eating the right stuff so you feel good and your body's changing you get daily gains and remember I got your mindset first now I got you on the food if you don't got the mindset how you gonna eat every three hours my water's right here I'm gonna drink a gallon today I could tell you to do it but you're probably not because you don't have the mindset it's not as important to you yet and then it needs to be then I give you the workouts and I have a program that you download I make you a custom workouts so if i'm like michael you're going to do three sets of upright rows you don't know what that is
Starting point is 00:58:49 they push the video and i was like this but you watch the video of me doing it and you do it with you you watch it okay that's how you do it and then you do it in the gym and then every monday i have an accountability call so you talk to me on the phone every single monday through this process you can't lose how can you lose you know it could be cool if you did a program on video that it's your own video that you literally, when you're doing those exercises, the person does them with you until you're done. You're like, all right, let's just relax for a second. Let's relax. Now we're going to grab this. Yeah, it's like that. It's like that. Yeah, it's basically, but it's not your own thing. So each person is a little bit different, right? So I got a lot of neck and back fusions and
Starting point is 00:59:33 things. So I got, there's certain things that are, you know. I have to ask you what's your, and everyone has a different fitness goal. So it all starts about what's your fitness goal. Like maybe you don't want a six-pack. Maybe you want bigger arms or maybe you want to feel better. I want to, you know, I want to look better. I want to sleep better. Whatever it is you can handle. What's it called? It's called the core king. The core king elite program. The core elite. The core king elite program. Yeah. So on my Instagram that people can either DM me the word the core king or they can click the link of my bio and it's a link to my calendar and schedule a call. And what's your Instagram? King Sam Jones the third.
Starting point is 01:00:10 You found King, you found Sam Jones again. Hey, listen. Now, I'm going to tell you a quick story, but in prison, I was King. No, Sam Jones III. I came home and I would only, I would, like in prison, if you call me Sam, I'm like, no, you know my name is King. That's it. So when I came home, I tried that stuff.
Starting point is 01:00:31 Imagine I met you and I'm like, Rosenbaum, hey, I changed my name. It's King. It was actually Alan Richson and his wife cat that made me just go, I'm not doing this anymore. because I was over their house one day and they would be like, this is Sam and I would be like, Cat, King, it's King. Oh, sorry, King. Oh, yeah, it's King. Like, I have already been Sam for so long
Starting point is 01:00:52 that I couldn't escape Sam anymore out here, right? So then I changed my Instagram name to King, Sam Jones III. So I'm like, okay, I got King and Sam Jones III. And I had a good Instagram, like social media run and doing music. I had a song that drip 40 million streams. It did so much. But recently what happened is,
Starting point is 01:01:11 and this is crazy the last month, 26 days, exactly. I made a new TikTok. And the TikTok name, I was like, I need something fresh and new because King Sam Jones the third, I feel like he had his social media run. And I'm just not that guy anymore. And so I made my Instagram name Sam Jones. I made my new TikTok, Sam Jones the third, right? And so now when I tell people, oh, my Instagram, I mean my TikTok, it's Sam Jones
Starting point is 01:01:38 the third. So I'm like, oh shit, Sam Jones the third. It's back. and I started this community, right? I was like, I'm going to post on this page. I'm not going to tell anyone of my friends or family. I'm not going to tell anyone from any of my social media. I'm not going to grow this page by telling people, hey, follow this new page.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Either find it, you don't. It's the authentic me. I can have my hair messed up. I cannot brush my teeth. It's going to be me. I'm going to post on it. And whoever finds me, finds me. And I started this community, and I call it Rageville.
Starting point is 01:02:05 And it's a positive community. I go live every day. I post videos every day. I talk to these people every day. And as you know, Smallville has been re-released. So it's bigger than ever with all these kids, right? And so it's just a positive community that I tell them no matter what's going on in your life, no matter you're going to, this is a place that you're going to come and I'm going to be on here
Starting point is 01:02:22 every day and we're just going to be positive. I love it. Bro, it's been. Man, 180. You just did like a. Bro, it's been phenomenal. And right now in 26 days, we have 43,000 followers. But like every video I post goes viral.
Starting point is 01:02:36 Every time I'm on a live, there's a few hundred people there. I know their names. they'll talk to me about things that are going on, things that are going on in school. It's almost like, it's almost like, I don't know, man. It's like, you love it. I just love it so much. Because you do, it's health, you're helping others. You feel like you have a purpose.
Starting point is 01:02:55 I do have a purpose. And I've created this thing from scratch that obviously I got the program that a lot of people I'm helping their lives with. But now I got this new TikTok that I go live on. And they just get to talk to me and interact. and then I bring them on sometimes and they'll be talking about this and they'll be talking about that and I'll give him an advice and sometimes we get some negativity in a chat because anyone could come and I don't block them. I don't have any mods. So I'd be like, you see how this guy said this
Starting point is 01:03:21 like, oh, this guy's washed up who would come on TikTok and be here every day? Now imagine, imagine if I blocked him guys. You guys wouldn't get to see this negativity that I encounter. So now what we're going to do, John 4 or 5, I'm actually going to give you the opportunity to come on the screen. And I would love to hear what you have to say and talk to you about it. And then they disappear. I said, John 4-5, are you still here? They're like, he left. John 4-5 left. Okay, John, you guys see that? Or sometimes I'll be like, John 4-5 says- They want to hate, but they don't want to, like- They don't want a consequence. Or I'll say John 4-5 says, like Sam Jones is whatever he says. And then I'll be like, oh my God, I'm a huge fan. I didn't think you'd reply. Can I talk to you?
Starting point is 01:04:02 Can I get an autograph? And I would like, you guys see how this is? So, I just, everything that happens in that chat, I use it to show them in your own life, these things might happen. I love it. And so I'm not going to block any negativity. I'm just going to show you guys how to be, come better versions of yourself here, you know? King Cor King. The Core King Elite. Core King Elite program.
Starting point is 01:04:23 King Sam Jones III is the Instagram. If anybody out there wants to see if they qualify or see if they want to get a stronger mindset. Please, guys, do it. I mean, he changed his life. He's changing lives. This is called shit talking. with Sam Jones. This is my patrons. Patron.com slash Insidy if you want to join, help the podcast out. This is rapid fire. Let's go. So you got a boom, boom, boom. Bing, Bing, Bing. Taylor R. What is your
Starting point is 01:04:46 favorite high protein meal? Rib eye. David L. Were you close with anyone in the set of Smallville? Did you form any friendships that lasted after you left the series? This is one guy, Michael Rosamont. Cheryl T. What's the best practical joke you played on someone or someone played on you during your time on Smallville? I wouldn't call it an intentional practical joke, but Michael Rosamomont farts a lot. Yes. Elizabeth R. What is your definition of personal strength? Self-love. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:05:17 My program is the highest form of self-love. And I get a lot of women in it. And that's what I tell them, this is the highest form of self-love. You got to work on yourself. You got to love yourself. You got to work on yourself harder than you do on your job. So, yeah. Ian W.
Starting point is 01:05:32 In your career, who's been the most inspirational to you? I think I know the answer to this. My dad. Your dad. Yeah, I was trying to think of actors and stuff, but yeah, it's my dad. Ms. Leanne, what is the one lesson life has taught you? My mom always says that the sunshine comes after the rain. And we always got to have rainy days, but the sunshine comes after the rain.
Starting point is 01:05:52 So whenever I feel like, oh, man, like this is such a situation, the sunshine comes after the rain and God makes miracles. I like the sunshine comes after the rain. Think about it's a storm. We can't go out. You can kind of trapped. You can pull the press. But you know the sunshine's going to come. It always comes.
Starting point is 01:06:10 And see, the thing is you hold on to these things. You hold on to these things, right? Because on a sunny day, you're not thinking about the rain. You think it's going to be sunny forever. But when the rain comes, that's when you got to remember mom said that. You know what my favorite quote from a movie is? Tell me. So shines a good deed in a weary world.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Willie Wonka. but but that think about that it's like just being kind yeah doing a nice gesture something helping people it's it's it's so refreshing because the world can seem so dark you know so dude this has been honestly i'm not even saying that this has been one of my favorite podcasts and i don't do i say this a lot i just say hey this is great thank you so much but like you just were vulnerable you were real you told your story how you turned it all around uh your love for your dad Um, I just, I'm so proudy. I'm so happy for you, man, because like, you can have easily said, no, I'm king and I'm just this guy and I'm just, you know, I'm going to continue. You know, I'm going to get what, what's left. Right. You know, but this guy. Eelam, brother Eelam. Brother Eel. Yeah. And that story is just beautiful. It's like, it's amazing how you go into a place and you're kind of lost and you don't even know your true identity. You change your name because you don't want people calling you by your birth name. And then you meet some guy and you're resisting it. Right. And then the next thing you know, you turn. You your life, slowly turn your life around. Right. I mean, man, my, my locker in there was a mess.
Starting point is 01:07:35 He, he, look at your locker. Look, look at your locker. Look how you conducting yourself. It doesn't matter where you are. So that's your, he used to tell me, this prison is just, like, it's a small place, but this is basically how the whole world is. So how you conduct yourself in here is how you're going to conduct yourself in the world. And look at your locker. This is your space right here. You don't got your bed made. You got to make your bed in the morning. You got to have their locker neat. Come look at my locker. I was like, damn. Damn. He's like, and I got the same amount of space as you, but it was so pristine the way he carried himself. It looked like he had a different outfit than we had on. But his thing was just clean and tight. Yeah. And he just showed me through. It's so visual, isn't it? Through positivity. He just showed me through positivity. Bro, I've read when I was there, I read so many books. I learned to read. I was writing letters to my acting coach. And I remember he was like, how are you talking like this? And oh, yeah. Do you remember when I was younger, I used to swear all the time? Do you remember that? I used to swear every other word.
Starting point is 01:08:33 That was just the way that I talked. Yeah. And I'll still say some swears now. Right. But now you're aware of it. Bro, I don't really swear that much anymore. But at that time, I wouldn't say a swear. And people like, you don't swear.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Like, I would write letters. Yeah, because it's off pudding, right? It's just different. When you change and you elevate and you work on yourself, the whole thing is just different, man. I love it. I'm so happy for you, man. Thank you, man.
Starting point is 01:08:56 Thanks for being here, man. Hey, Michael. And I challenge you, Michael. I challenge you to, you said you got the neck injury. Yeah, I'm recovering now. Yeah, so I challenge you to do some of these daily disciplines like the water day.
Starting point is 01:09:10 Even if you want to do the program, I'm here for you. I'm going to start drinking. My girlfriend does it. Jack, she drinks tons of water. What has stopped you from doing it? Water's kind of boring. You see? I like something refreshing.
Starting point is 01:09:21 Yeah, you can put electrolytes, but that's not. But you know what? I'm just going to drink. I'm going to drink water. But it's good for you. I'm telling you, I'm going to, this has given me some, what's the word confidence, some inspiration. Let me tell you this about water for everybody out there.
Starting point is 01:09:34 The more water you drink, the more you pee. The more you pee. Toxicities. Exactly. And the less bloated you are because your body won't have water retention because it goes, hey, I can trust this guy to drink at least a gallon of water a day. So he doesn't drink a little bit of water because water is boring. So we don't have to have bloating because. Yeah, I get bloated.
Starting point is 01:09:54 And the more that you drink water, the more fat you pee out. So if knowing these things, if I know I'm going to drink more water and I'm going to be less bloated, do I want to be bloated or do I want to drink the water? But that all comes down to your mindset. Drink water. Yeah. I think that's what Sam's saying, along with another thing. I'm just saying whatever you want to do in life, man, you could be, you could be the best. You could you could just do it. Like I'm sitting here on your podcast as Pete from Smallville, but I'm just Sam Jones III, a guy that can, you know, I'm just like everybody else. I'm just like the patrons or whoever it is. We all. all of. Right? But we just we just put in our minds what we want to achieve. Even you, you've really wanted me on this podcast. Yeah. So you would, Sam, when are you coming to the podcast? Hey, man, when you're coming? Hey, man, you're flaking. When are you coming? You're persistent. You're persistent. And these are qualities that winners have. And anyone can learn like maybe you, maybe your dad,
Starting point is 01:10:46 the way you say he was tough on you or whatever it is, it doesn't matter. But the way that you are is the reason why you're great. Like, you're actually one of my favorite actors. Honestly, I've worked quite. What? Bro. And, Angela Bassett, Samuel Jackson, Mackay Fifer, John Stamos. I've worked with everyone. I've worked with everybody. Dude, thanks. Jesus.
Starting point is 01:11:06 Bro, you're great because you're so opposite of Lex, right? And when you turn that thing on, it was just something great. And like you said, even the scenes that we didn't have many together, but when we would act together. We were in it. Yeah, I wouldn't even talk to you, even though we were good friends. Yo, Sam, I want to tell you about something from yesterday. Nope. we're not talking right now.
Starting point is 01:11:27 Like, we got to take this seriously. Yeah. And another thing I'm going to say to you. And this is one thing that I know you got to wrap this up. I don't know what time. Yeah. But I want to say that on this interview and on other interviews I've seen, you said something like I realized, like it may never get better or bigger than Smallville.
Starting point is 01:11:42 Like I did something great and I'm okay with that. And I don't believe that for you. Like I see somebody young and strong, even though you had these neck injuries. You still look young. To me, you look great outside. To me, you have the end. energy. You have the power. You are Lex Luthor. You are every character you ever played. But putting that to side, if you didn't have any of that and you wanted to go to Hollywood today and go on an audition,
Starting point is 01:12:06 I'd put all my money on you. You're still great. Like, you can be more famous for your new characters than you ever had in your life. You're better now than you ever have. Bro, if you look back at that Lex Luthor, you were a kid. I was a kid. How can that Sam Jones III beat me an actor? I've been, I'm too strong. I've got too much, depth. Too much experience. Experience. So, bro, I leave you with this. And you could take it how you want. No, man. You could go into retirement and be like, I peaked on Smallville. Or you can take this message and say, I can be more famous, a better actor, bigger than I've ever been. Like, you can do it. And I'm not just saying that because, like, anyone can do it. But Michael Rosamomombe that I know, the actor that I know, you could do it,
Starting point is 01:12:49 bro. You just got to dig deep and get the fuck back in there. Even the same thing with Tom, you got to dig deep and get in there. Now, me, I got some, I got some adversity. You have to want it. I got some adversity, but you don't got that adversity. So what are you going to do with it? What are you going to do with it? Are you going to drink the water? Are you going to do something bigger than Smallville?
Starting point is 01:13:06 Yes. I know that you can. I know I can too. Michael fucking Rosenbaum, are you serious? See this guy? Let me tell you this. You guys got to go to, this guy's what you need. Bro.
Starting point is 01:13:15 I'm already believing it. Before I met you, my agent Wendy Green, you have to get this part because there's a guy on this show. Michael Rosenbaum. He gets a pilot every year. You're right. You're him. I love you. You're him. Thank you. Do it, bro. I will.
Starting point is 01:13:30 Do it. Thanks for being here, man. For sure, man.
