Starting point is 00:00:00 Chris Happy Friday and welcome back to another one here on InSight. It is I. CVV, Chris Van Fleet. Thank you for being a real one and for spending a little bit of your Friday with me
Starting point is 00:00:32 here on an Ask CVV episode. And thank you, as always, for helping to make Insight the number one wrestling podcast on planet Earth. Hit a Death Valley driver on that follow button on Spotify or Apple or wherever.
Starting point is 00:00:47 you're listening right now. I want to make sure that you don't miss out on any new interviews every Tuesday and Thursday and Ask CVV as you know every Friday. You're here. You're all about Ask CVV episodes. Speaking of new interviews, I can't believe the week that we've had. We had one of the all-time greats yesterday, HBK, Sean Michaels on the show, one of my favorite conversations ever. And I feel like we were just scratching the surface. Like I've got to have Sean Michaels on like 17 more times to cover everything in his career, but blown away by his mindset and just the way that he approaches the idea of greatness. And then earlier in the week on Tuesday, Stephanie Vakere, who I truly believe will be the next WWE women's world champion after this
Starting point is 00:01:39 weekend, after Russell Palozo. We'll get into the predictions here. And just a little bit, but man, what a week. How are we going to top a week like this? I don't know, but I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks. I am in Indianapolis right now as I record this. Russell Paloosa is tomorrow. I'm recording a few interviews here. And speaking of big ones, I've got a really big one scheduled. Someone I've been trying to do an interview with for years. one of the all-time goats. I don't want to say too much more in case it falls through for whatever reason, but I'll just say this, that if in the next two-ish weeks,
Starting point is 00:02:23 this pops up as a new episode on a Tuesday or Thursday, you will remember this right here. You'll be like, ah, that's the one that he was talking about. Speaking of just all this stuff that we have going on, tickets are on sale right now for the next Insight Live, which is happening on Friday, November 28th, the day before Survivor Series. This is happening in San Diego.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Grab those tickets. Grab those CVV-V-I-P tickets, which include an Ask-C-V-V-V-V-V-V-V-V-V-V-V-V-G and a special meet-and-greet after the show. Grab them at CVV-V-TX.com. I've also had a lot of you guys asking me about what we're doing for WrestleMania next year in Las Vegas. We will be doing Insight Live.
Starting point is 00:03:08 It will be happening the Thursday before mania, just like we did for WrestleMania 41. I actually think those tickets are going to go on sale next week. Don't quote me on that, but that's the plan. WrestleMania tickets go on sale next week. So why wouldn't Insight Live during WrestleMania week also go on sales? So I should know by Next Ask CVV if that's actually the case. But just keep an eye out. If you're not already following me on social media,
Starting point is 00:03:39 follow me at Chris VanVleet on everything, well, on everything except for TikTok. Chris dot VanVleet on TikTok. But just keep an eye out there because I have a feeling if we can put everything together the way that we're planning to, the tickets for Insight Live will go on sale the same day
Starting point is 00:03:56 as WrestleMania tickets, which is next Wednesday. So we've got a lot going on. And thank you guys for just being on this journey with me. it means more than I could ever possibly explain using words. So that's why I'll just say, thank you. Microbrrawlers also available. I almost forgot to mention that.
Starting point is 00:04:16 CVVmerch.com to grab a microbraller or one of the very few remaining chase variants of the microbraller, the limited edition chase variance. So CVV merch for that. That all brings us to this. Welcome, my friend, to ask CVV number one. one, the Dalmatian edition. Oh yes. And if you've got a question for next week for Ask CVV number 102, I still can't
Starting point is 00:04:46 believe we are in the triple digits with these. Leave a comment on Spotify with your question. Send it in on social media using that hashtag Ask CVV or shoot me an email. CVV at Chris VanVleet.com. If you are listening on Spotify, if you are a real one and you are because you're listening to an Ask CVV episode, just leave too sweet in the comments there on Spotify. And I'll know that you're with me on this one. We'll kick it off with a question from Adam Booth on Spotify who says, yo, CVV.
Starting point is 00:05:22 And I said it like that because there was an exclamation mark. What a weekend for wrestling. Another exclamation mark. Let's hear your predictions for both wrestlepalooza and all out. And you're right. What a weekend. And what a Saturday we are in for with All Out starting at 3 p.m. Eastern Time from the Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto. Man, I love Toronto and I love that All Out is happening there.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Russell Palooza starts at 7 p.m. Eastern Time live from the Game Bridge Field House in Indianapolis. I will be there. So if you're going to be there in Indy, I hope to give you a high five or a two sweet or something or just chat a little bit of wrestling with you. But the fact that we've got all out of three, Russell Paloosa at seven, you have the ability to watch both. So this is not head to head as it has been talked about for weeks and weeks and weeks.
Starting point is 00:06:20 This is actually back to back. So you've got the ability to take in both shows. And I think that's pretty special. Let's start with Russell Palooza predictions here. I'm taking a look at MyBooky for the odds here. And of course, when you sign up at My Bookie, and you use my code. I'm sure you already know it, but it's CVV. You'll get a 50% welcome bonus on your first deposit. That's not just for WWE. That's UFC, of course, NFL stuff, really anything. So the code is
Starting point is 00:06:49 CVV when you sign up. Let's look at this tag team match. It's the bronze versus the Uso's. Bronson Reed, Bronbreaker versus the Uso's. I'm going to go with the vision on this. I'm going to go with Braun and Bronson because I just think they've got so much momentum going just with the faction as a whole and I see them definitely winning this one. Stephanie Vacare versus EO Sky for the vacant WWE Women's World Championship. I'm not just saying this because Stephanie was on the show earlier this week and she was a fantastic guest. Man, she had such great stories.
Starting point is 00:07:29 But I think it's her time and it would cap off. a sensational rookie year that she's had. Champ Champ in NXT, she has definitely made her mark since debuting in the main roster on that raw after WrestleMania. And I also feel like this was lined up to be her spot at Clash and Paris.
Starting point is 00:07:48 And obviously that match with Naomi didn't end up happening because of the amazing news that Naomi and Big Jim are having a baby and congrats to them. So that match got pulled at Clash in Paris. Now it's Stephanie Vacare versus E.O. guy here. I do know this. No matter who wins, and I'm going with Stephanie on this one, no matter who
Starting point is 00:08:08 wins, what a match we are in for with this one. C.M. Punk and the returning A.J. Lee versus Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, the mixed tag team match. What a huge mixed tag team match this is. I don't see this going any way other than C.M. Punk and A.J. Lee winning this. They are heavy, heavy favorites here. But I think this will really serve as like a jumping off point for two singles matches out of this. I think we get CM Punk versus Seth Rollins out of this. There's still so much more story to be told there. And then I think that AJ Lee's first real feud now that she's back after 10 and a half years is going to be AJ Lee versus Becky Lynch. And I just feel like that ends with AJ Lee becoming the Intercontinental Champion at some point down the line here.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Cody Rhodes versus Drew McIntyre. Man, Drew McIntyre just been just been working. Cody Rhodes, just been taking it to him, just been beating him down. But the odds here are heavily in Cody's favor. And I just can't see Cody losing the WWE championship yet. And with the way that things are going in WWE and the title's mostly changing hands at PLEs, I feel like Cody Rhodes ends the year as the WWE champion. Maybe he loses it at Royal Rumble and then we set up a different feud going into WrestleMania, obviously too soon to tell on that. But he doesn't lose the championship this weekend.
Starting point is 00:09:50 So going with Cody Rhodes on that one. then John Sina versus Brock Lesnar one last time. The odds shifted a lot on this. Like when the odds first came out, they were almost dead even, like pretty much coin toss. Now the odds really favor John Sina. And I think that makes a lot of sense here.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I think that John Sina has lost to Brock Lesnar. More often than not, John Sina has two and four versus Brock Lesnar, one of those wins being by disqualification. So he really knows like only one real victory. over Brock Lesnar, I think John Sina wins this one, which continues to give John Sina more momentum on the farewell tour so that when we do build up to that final match, December 13th, that it means a lot when John Sina ends up losing.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Because I truly believe that John Sina will do what the tradition is. You go out looking up the lights. You go out putting somebody else over. I think that if John keeps losing matches between now and December, it just won't mean as much. Because it's like, oh, he's on a losing streak. He's lost his last bunch of matches or lost three out of four or whatever it happens to be. So I think that he wins this one. It gives him huge momentum and doesn't hurt Brock Lesnar at all.
Starting point is 00:11:09 I think that Brock Lesnar can definitely afford to lose this one. So I'm going to give that one to John Cena. Then let's look at all out and what a stacked card this is. I don't even know where to begin with this one. But let's begin at the one that feels to me like the most obvious choice here. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage versus FTR. How could you possibly have Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, Edge and Christian lose in their hometown of Toronto?
Starting point is 00:11:41 So I think that they obviously very clearly have to win that one. the Hurt Syndicate. An MVP is going to be in the ring for this one. So we got Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and a returning MVP, not returning, but he hasn't wrestled in AEW. I think he's wrestled once in AEW this year. Versus Rick-A and G-O-A.
Starting point is 00:12:02 I think it's got to be the Hurt Syndicate. Although this one really could go either way, but I'm going to go Hurt Syndicate on that one. Mercedes-Money is putting her AWT-B-TBS championship on the line versus Rejo. and I believe at last check Mercedes had eight. Is it eight championships? Nine.
Starting point is 00:12:26 It is nine championships. She has nine championships. At some point, she's going to either have to lose some of those or vacate some of those. But I don't think that this is one of them going Mercedes Monet in that match. Darby Allen versus John Moxley in a coffin match. You know this is going to be bonkers. You know, this is going to be just a wild match,
Starting point is 00:12:52 especially when you got both of those guys who just, man, they go for it. So I'm going to go with Darby Allen on this. I think that just like we talked about with Brock Lesnar, I think John Moxley could afford a loss here. And I think that a win here from Darby Allen, especially in a match that's, it's his match, his finishers, the coffin drop.
Starting point is 00:13:15 It's a coffin match. I think that in a match like this, I think that that really gives Darby Allen a lot of momentum. And I firmly believe that Darby Allen is a future AEW world champion. Maybe it's not this year, but maybe it's within the next year or two or three. I think that he's someone who could definitely be an AEW champion in one of the original four pillars of AEW. Mark Briscoe versus MJF in a tables and thumbtacks match. This also is going to be just bonkers. Going with MJF on this one,
Starting point is 00:13:53 and I think that MJF will have the momentum from this win. And remember, he still has in his back pocket the ability to cash in for that AW World Championship at some point in time. I think it's just a matter of time. I think MJF is the next AW world champion. I think he's going to be the one to beat Hangman for that belt. I think it's just a matter now of when that happens. Then we've got a four-way match for the AW women's world championship.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Timeless Tony Storm putting her AW women's world championship on the line against Jamie Hader, Christatlander, and Tecla. Timeless Tony Storm, one of the best things in wrestling right now. She has had this championship for, let's look at the exact number, 218 days, well, 217 today, as you're listening to this, 218 as she goes into this match. I think that she's going to hold this thing for even longer. And this is her fourth run as the AEW Women's Champion. Let her just cook. Let her keep doing what she's doing.
Starting point is 00:15:00 I love it. Hangman Adam Page defending the AW World Championship. against Kyle Fletcher. And if any member of the Don Callis family interfere, Fletcher will be disqualified and also stripped of the AW TNT Championship. Kyle Fletcher is such a star, also someone who I think is a future AEW world champion.
Starting point is 00:15:26 I don't think it happens this Saturday, but what a match we are in for here. And it's just been amazing seeing the development of Kyle Fletcher over the last like six to 12 months, like every single week, just getting better and better. And I think that here's, this is the biggest match he's ever been in. AEW World title on the line at all out, one of the biggest paper views of the year.
Starting point is 00:15:50 This is going to be a chance for him to just show out and show off. And I can't wait. Okada, putting the AW-Unified Championship on the line, a three-way match here. It's Okada versus Tash, is Takesha, Takeshita and Mascaira Dorada. Again, another match where I think we all win here. I think that you've got three incredible wrestlers
Starting point is 00:16:15 that are just going to go all out in this. Well, pun, not intended, but it does work there. I think Okada is going to hang on to it here. Big Bill versus Eddie Kingston. And this is the returning Eddie Kingston. It's his first match in 16 months since breaking his leg, tearing his ACL, coming back from major, major injury here. I don't see any situation here other than Eddie Kingston winning and coming back from
Starting point is 00:16:47 that injury and just picking up the win here. And then I think just one match left here, one match left, four-way ladder match for the AW World Tag Team Championship. Brody King and Bandito versus the young bucks. versus JetSpeed versus the Don Callis family. All four participants here, all four tag teams, put them together in a ladder match. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:17:19 This is going to be just so much fun here. I don't even know if I care who wins this one, but if we got a pick here, I'll go with the Young Bucks. But I also think there's a real chance here for JetSpeed, which is Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey, to pick up the win here. But at the same time, I love what Josh Alexander
Starting point is 00:17:37 has been doing every single time he gets in the ring. And I just feel like he's someone who, like, was so underrated in TNA. And like, if you watch TNA, you knew how good he was
Starting point is 00:17:50 and obviously was an amazing world champion there, but like, he's kicked it into another gear. So there's a chance there for the Don Callis family to pick up the win. You can really make a case for anybody here, but if I'm going to have to pick somebody,
Starting point is 00:18:02 I'll pick the young bucks. But just start to finish here on Saturday. We are in for, man, just a heck of a Saturday with wrestling. And I love it. So thank you for the question, Adam. I love that we went through all, what was it, 17 of those matches there and went through them all. Jith and Jacob emailed this one and said, hey, CVV, WWE is doing a retrospective on Brock and Sina's journey. part one last week, part two this week.
Starting point is 00:18:34 They didn't do that for Randy and they didn't do that for Punk. Do you think this is because this might be Brock's retirement match? Thanks so much. A real, real one, Jithin Jacob. It's a nice thought. It is a nice thought, but no. I don't think that is the case at all. I do not think this is Brock Lesnar's last match.
Starting point is 00:18:56 They certainly wouldn't just be sliding that one in and not telling anybody. If this was going to be Brock Lesnar's match, last match, they would be making a huge deal of it. I don't think it would be a retirement tour like John Cena is doing, but I think that they would make it very clear, this is it. And I don't think it would be happening, no offense, at Russell Palusa. What I think this has more to do with is the new ESPN deal. I think that it has more to do with that than with Brock himself. Russell Paloza is the first PLE streaming on ESPN.
Starting point is 00:19:31 It's being headlined by this match, John Sina versus Brock Lesnar one last time. And I think that they just want to make this feel huge. Also, notice I said that it's being headlined by that match, but not main evented by that match. Pat McAfee announced yesterday that Sina versus Lesnar is actually going to be the opening match, not the main event.
Starting point is 00:19:54 I'm assuming, man, I can't even, I don't even know if you can assume, but I would think the main event is Cody versus Drew because it's for the WWE championship. But I think the other like match that has been most heavily promoted,
Starting point is 00:20:11 maybe even more so than the Sina-Lesner match, is the mixed tag match. Like really good chance that one could be the main event here. But all of that is to say, no, I don't think this is Brock Lesnar's last match at all. I just think that they're going to continue. you to do what they can do to like make this feel like it's a really big match. This episode is brought to you by Timeline.

Starting point is 00:23:18 I'm personally excited. I think that with the money Saudi can spend, it will have the biggest entrance way ever and also a huge show. I just can't believe that the first WrestleMania taking place outside of North America is not happening in London. Like I feel like the seeds were planted there. When John Cena had that surprise return, Money in the Bank, 2023, basically just cut a long promo,
Starting point is 00:23:45 like campaigning for WrestleMania to be in London. And I can't believe that here we are. Two years later, and the first international WrestleMania, the first one to take place outside of the United States or Canada, is happening in Saudi Arabia. But I'm sure, as you are well aware, this all comes down to money. The numbers that are being thrown around are huge. It should be pointed out, none of these are official figures.
Starting point is 00:24:17 These are all rumored numbers. none of them backed up by any sort of actual facts or stats, but they are big numbers nonetheless. I've seen people say that Saudi is paying $100 million to get WrestleMania. I saw $150 million. I even saw one headline that said that Saudi Arabia is paying $200 million to get WrestleMania there. That number seems a little too big to be believable,
Starting point is 00:24:46 but look, anything's possible, I suppose. the host city has always paid a site fee to get Russellmania. This is nothing new. There's the site fee that's paid. There's also tax incentives on top of that. This is no different than what happens with the Super Bowl. It's actually no different than what WWE does with a lot of their events. It's why John Cena's last match isn't happening in Boston because they got out bid.
Starting point is 00:25:14 but typical numbers are obviously not nine figures like 100 million plus. Like I've got a few examples here for you. Miami paid around $2 million for WrestleMania 29. This is according to public records. Dallas paid $3.1 million for WrestleMania 32. Then they paid $5.2 million for WrestleMania 38, according to public records. Las Vegas paid $5 million for WrestleMania this. year for WrestleMania 41, then reportedly paid $12 million for next year for
Starting point is 00:25:51 WrestleMania 42. And I guess that was a number that was big enough to take it away from New Orleans where it had already been announced. So this must have been a significant jump for them to unannounce it from New Orleans and then announce it there. So that's, I mean, if $12 million was big, then the numbers we're talking about here with Saudi is huge. And I just want you to keep this in the back of your mind.
Starting point is 00:26:20 WWE has said that they will be going back to New Orleans. So it's like, we owe you one. So that one's happening at some point in time. Also as part of the deal that Indianapolis signed with WWE, not only did they get the Royal Rumble, which was earlier this year, not only are they getting Russell Palozo this weekend, but they're also getting a WrestleMania at some point as well.
Starting point is 00:26:41 So we know that those are two of the host cities, cities at some point in time here. I don't think there's a timeline on that. But we know that in 2027, WrestleMania 43 will be in Saudi Arabia. And the whole thing about like, you pay this money because it has a massive impact on the economic impact in the city, like hotels, restaurants, Uber, taxis, like stuff like that. And it generates like a lot of money. So like, WrestleMania 28 or 20, yeah, WrestleMania in, yeah, 28, sorry, I said Miami.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Jeez, my, I meant 28. Okay, we obviously understand that. WrestleMania 28 in Miami, when they paid $2 million, it apparently generated $102.7 million in economic impact. Last year, WrestleMania 40, they projected it had an impact of up to $200 million in economic impact. Russellmania 39 in L.A., $215 million in economic impact.
Starting point is 00:27:47 So the idea here is get people into the city, then they spend money when they're there. Saudi Arabia is putting up all this money as a pure tourism play. The goal here isn't for the country to like sell as many tickets to the show as possible. It's to get people to travel there. But what I find most interesting about this whole thing,
Starting point is 00:28:09 is how much things have shifted, right? Because WWE events in Saudi Arabia used to be like a glorified house show. Like, we knew that nothing really important would happen there. It's like these shows existed in an alternate universe and the events there were non-canon. For example, it was a universe
Starting point is 00:28:32 where Sean Michaels would come out of retirement after having a perfect retirement match, WrestleMania 26, against The Undertaker. He came out of retirement to be in a tag team match with Triple H against the Brothers of Destruction.
Starting point is 00:28:47 It used to also be a world where we had the greatest Royal Rumble, which really meant nothing at all. 50 man battle royal, 50 man Royal Rumble. I don't know if you remember
Starting point is 00:28:59 who won it, but yes, it was Braun Strowman. Do you remember? Here's a fun fact. Do you remember who we eliminated last? Yeah. I'm sure you don't remember it was big casse it was down to big cast and braun stroman braun stroman won it and it didn't lead to
Starting point is 00:29:17 really anything at all i think he held up a championship that also didn't mean anything and then like this is also the saudi world where they had super showdown 2019 and we had that infamous match with goldberg and undertaker you know the one but it just feels like something's like really shifted over the last few years where these events in Saudi Arabia started to feel more meaningful. And we're certainly going to see that with the Royal Rumble next year,
Starting point is 00:29:49 and then we're going to see that with WrestleMania 43 and 2027. So like these are no longer just like fun shows where they throw together matches for the sake of throwing together matches. Like, these matter. And, but just as a whole, I think that WrestleMania is like,
Starting point is 00:30:07 It's so much more than just the events that happen on Saturday and Sunday. It's the entire week. It's the indie shows. And it's the events. It's the autograph signings. It's the appearances. It's RussellCon. And a lot of workers rely on this week as like a big part of the money they earn for the entire year.
Starting point is 00:30:28 Like the bookings they get that week really like help them to hold over for many months. Like that like kind of like, anchors their year. So I don't know what happens with that. WrestleMania 43. I don't think we see RussellCon in Riyadh. I don't think we see nearly as many independent shows. And it's just, it's too bad because that's been such a big part of the entire week.
Starting point is 00:30:57 But to your point, since we're talking about money with this whole thing, with the amount of money that will be spent on this WrestleMania. I agree with you. There is the potential for a massive stage, maybe a stage bigger and better than one we've ever seen before. There's also the potential for dream matches. We may finally get the Rock versus Roman Raines, which is something I feel like we should have got at 39, tried to get at 40,
Starting point is 00:31:30 and then the crowd basically said, hey, that's not the match we want. And then we got Cody, which is Cody Roman, which is the right call at that point in time. But if this is the case, if we get the Rock and we get the Rock versus Roman, Rock has now a year and a half to get into ring shape. And that's a match that I would love to see. But, you know, it's, I just think about this.
Starting point is 00:31:56 It's still a long way away. Like we're talking almost two years away for that WrestleMania, like a year and a half-ish. but I just wonder how, if at all, this may affect booking for WrestleMania 42. Because if they know they're going to blow it out of the water for WrestleMania 43, they wouldn't want to burn any of the big storylines or matches that could be used there.
Starting point is 00:32:24 So I, like, maybe I'm getting too far ahead of myself here, but I just really wonder. Like, I wonder, since we already, know that that one's kind of being treated as like the bigger one now, did things change for the WrestleMania that's right around the corner here, the WrestleMania that we see this April back in Vegas? I don't know. And I think it's way too early to be like making any predictions about that. But let's see. Like let's see who, for example, the Royal Rumble winner is. Let's see how the road to WrestleMania looks in
Starting point is 00:33:04 26 and it may give us an indication of how things are going to go in 27. Tricks underscore Jose on Instagram says, who do you think will beat Cody Rhodes for the WWE championship? Like I said, I think that if you were to ask me
Starting point is 00:33:24 the question, who is the champion on December 31st, 2025? My answer is Cody Rhodes. I think Cody Rhodes is the champion at the end of this year. I think if you were to ask me who's the AEW champion at the end of this year, I think my answer to that one is MJF. That'll be interesting. I think that we are going to get Cody Rhodes versus Randy Orton.
Starting point is 00:33:48 At some point in between now and WrestleMania, I think that that's the next match. And I think it's Randy Orton's chance to win what could possibly be his last WWE champion. that's where I think it's going. And look, anything could happen. We've got Cody versus Drew McIntyre this weekend. Maybe that sets up a rematch with them. Maybe it's Survivor Series. Maybe it's Crown Jewel. And again, I mentioned this before. We still don't know if we're doing Crown Jewel rules where it's champion versus champion. I thought that that was kind of set up last year, but was that just set up in like
Starting point is 00:34:30 was that just an anomaly? Was that just happening for that one crown jewel last year? I felt like they created that giant championship, the crown jewel championship, which was very oversized. I feel like that was set up to be a yearly thing. But I don't know. If that is the case, which it doesn't seem to be, and nothing seems to be pointing to that, but if that is the case, Cody versus Seth, Crown Jewel, but I think we could get Cody versus you again after this weekend, but I think it's Randy Orton. I think that the short answer to your question is, I think it's going to be Randy Orton at some point, and there's just so much history there.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And they've been teasing this one for a while. Maybe that's what finally makes Cody Rhodes turn heel, something that they've also been kind of hinting at. There's been, there's been hints here and there. and when Codlander becomes a thing, when he turns into the homelander version of Cody Rhodes, I can't wait. No Limit Harris Zero One on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:35:43 Hello, Mr. Van Vleet. Mr. Van Vleet is my father, but I'll take it. I've got a question for Ask CVVV number 101. Where do you think WWE will go with Seamus from here after his loss to Rusev? I'd like to see him go in a run towards a title, just not sure which one, but I'd personally like to see it. Which one do you think it'll be?
Starting point is 00:36:02 Your dear friend Josh, aka Gene Jacket Bro. Well, Josh, what a banger of a match at Clash in Paris. What a banger of a match. Rusev and Seamus. And we just, you know, you know when you saw their names on the card,
Starting point is 00:36:19 you knew it was going to be good. And that match delivered on every level. Shamis needs to win the Intercontinental Championship. I mean, it's as simple as that. And I don't even think that, I don't think that's going to be the next real feud for him or maybe not even the next championship for him. But that needs to happen at some point in time.
Starting point is 00:36:40 If that is where we're going to go with this, I don't even feel like he needs a huge buildup with Dominic Mysterio. Like I think it could be a few weeks that leads into a match that even happens on weekly television. like again, just keeping us on our toes. You got to make sure you're watching because anything can happen.
Starting point is 00:36:59 Championships can change hands. But he's one intercontinental championship away from being the ultimate Grand Slam champion. So it's going to happen. And he just signed a new five-year deal. What was that last year? It's going to happen. It's just a matter of time.
Starting point is 00:37:19 But that's where I would like to see this go next. It has been a long time since Seamus has held any sort of championship. It has been since 2021 when he won the United States Championship for the third time. He lost that championship on August 21st, 2021. So it's been over four years since he held a championship. His last championship before that was when he won the Smackdown Tag Team Championships with Cesaro as the bar was 2019. And how long has it been since he's been a world champion? You know how long it's been? Ten years. Ten years. He last won the world championship in
Starting point is 00:38:07 2015. That's another one. I would just love to see him win again. It would be great to see the world championship change hands with like relative frequency. Like if we had four or four, world champions every year and like call it two or three WWE champions every year, I'd be a-okay with that. And I think that if Seamus has four years left on this contract and if he can still go after this contract's done and he wants to still go and I think that both of those are important factors here, why not give him another championship?
Starting point is 00:38:44 It'd be great to see that happen. And, I mean, it's just, I mean, future Hall of Famer. Like, no question. Whenever he does decide to retire, and I hope it's a long time from now, and he's very healthy when that happens, first ballot, first ballot hall of fame, no question.
Starting point is 00:39:02 But I would, I'd love to see him win that intercontinental championship and do what nobody has ever done before. And if you're wondering what I'm talking about, ultimate Grand Slam champion is everything. It's WWE champion, United States champion, intercontinental champion,
Starting point is 00:39:20 champion, money in the bank, Royal Rumble winner, and King of the Ring. And I know what you're going to say right now, but Edge did that. Seamus likes to point out, and these are Seamus's words, not mine.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Seamus likes to point out that Edge didn't win the W.W. United States Championship. Edge won the WCW, United States Championship. It seems like a technicality to me.
Starting point is 00:39:47 But I guess if Edge was the first he's the first like wwee slash wcw shamus will be the first to does it all w w w w but i think it's it's just a matter of time it is just a matter of time email from ben it says razor ramon voice a yo cvv hey yo hey yo hey yo hey yo the bad guy you don't know who i am you know but you don't know why I'm here. What is a character or gimmick? That was not good. I've got better impressions, right?
Starting point is 00:40:33 But here you're hot. Just keep leaning on that one. I love that I did that for The Undertaker. I don't know where. Back to Ben's email here. What is a character or gimmick that you loved that was either short-lived and you wish we got more of it or that you really enjoyed, despite the general wrestling community,
Starting point is 00:40:55 disliking it. Personally, I really liked the Kevin Thorne vampire gimmick that was in the relaunched ECW, even though most people seemed to think that it was ridiculous. Thank you. Ben, I agree with you. I think the Kevin Thorne character was fantastic. For me, one that I really enjoyed was Sean Stasiak in WCW. I absolutely just love the swagger that he had, the charisma that just oozed out of him.
Starting point is 00:41:27 The guy looked like a million bucks. He had like 14 abs. He had a gimmick for like three weeks that was Sean the Star Stasiak. And he would sign an 8 by 10 and he would leave it on your chest. And I just thought at that point in time, I was like 16, 17 years old. for whatever reason, I just loved it. He would also walk down to the ring and he would take the sweat on his forehead and then flick it at the camera as he was walking down the ramp. There's just so many things about that character I loved.
Starting point is 00:42:07 And then when the invasion angle happened and WCW and WWE merged together, his character just became just like they just made it so. goofy. It was meat and then it turned into planet Stasiak and I give Sean Stasiak so much credit for doing the absolute best that he could with it. But Sean Stasiak specifically in the last, call it six months of WCW, where I just personally enjoyed it so much. And I'll give you a runner up because I love the last year or so of WCW. I have so many of those VHS tapes at my parents' house. I got to find a VCR and put them in next time I go home to see my parents in Pickering, Ontario. I was actually just FaceTiming with Mom and Dad before this.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Shout out to Helen and Dirk, who will absolutely never listen to this episode. So shout out to them anyway. They're not really wrestling fans. I'm sure you've heard my stories about my dad just not liking wrestling. I don't blame DVV for not wanting his teenage son to be watching during some of the things in the attitude era in the Monday Night Wars. But the natural-born thrillers in WCW, Sean Stasiak, as I mentioned, he was a member of them, Sean O'Hare. How good was he? Mark Jindrack, Chuck Palumbo, Johnny the Bull, Reno, and above average, my Sanders, one of the most underrated people ever on the mic above average Mike Sanders.
Starting point is 00:43:53 So there's another, I didn't just give you a person. I gave you an entire faction that I loved it, that I don't think get enough credit. And I could go on and on for the rest of this episode and into Ask CVV 102 talking about underrated WCW stuff and how, oh my goodness, so many people that were either over in WCW or just starting to get over had their runs just completely ruined when WWE bought out WCW. But I digress. Jason Jensen had this, not so much of a question, but a comment on Spotify. And it just made me think of a funny story.
Starting point is 00:44:33 So he was talking about how I was saying, yeah, everybody loves Ray Mysterio. I was talking about that in the episode with Stephanie Vakere. And he's like, Dom has entered the chat. And I get it. I totally understand that, man, I was there at Worlds Collide and just seeing like the way that Dom continues to treat Ray Mysterio. And I love that Ray plays along with it. But you know, like deep down, not even deep down. Like, you know that Ray's like holding back like how much excitement he has for his son and how great his son is just crushing it. But like, I love that they keep to the K-fabe of like, oh, yeah. I hate, I hate my deadbeat. Doesn't even call him his dad. I just hate my deadbeat. But it reminded me of a story. I was talking to someone recently. I don't want to name any names, but they said,
Starting point is 00:45:21 if somebody ever says anything bad about Ray Mysterio, you punch that person in the face because you know they're a liar. Nobody says anything bad about Ray Mysterio. And I just love that. Like Ray Mysterio has been in this for so long. And to be in the game
Starting point is 00:45:42 as long as he has been, in all of the different companies that he's worked for and still has this incredible reputation that if somebody says something bad about Ray Mysterio, you punch him in the face because you know they're lying. I love it. I think it just speaks to who Ray Mysterio is, not just as a performer,
Starting point is 00:46:00 but as a human being as well. Email from Dalton Kraschkovic. Chris, I absolutely love you in the pod. So let's skip past that. and let's get to the good stuff. Dan Soder was a literal bucket list guest for you, and I appreciate that you got him, and I love that episode so much.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Outside of people in the wrestling business, who is your dream guest that isn't in the business, but as a fan? Much love, as always, and thank you for the entertainment. It is so very important to me and many others. What a banger of a match. Oh, sorry, that was another part here. Thank you so much, Dalton.
Starting point is 00:46:40 I don't know what I was going into there. I appreciate the very kind words. I have like two categories. I have an ongoing list on my computer in an Excel file. An ongoing list of like dream guests slash like wrestling guests. And then I have a list that I'm calling wrestling adjacent guests. And in that list, there's quite a few. I will actually pull it up here as we're speaking.
Starting point is 00:47:05 But there's a lot of people who like like Dan Soder, like incredible comedian, so amazingly talented, but like, hardcore wrestling fan. And that's why we were able to talk for, what was that, an hour and a half? Hour and a half just like absolutely nerding out about wrestling. And it doesn't hurt that he does the absolute best macho man impression on the planet.
Starting point is 00:47:29 It's so good. And then out of nowhere pulls out a, just an absolute spot on under the giant impression. And then, oh yeah, out of nowhere, he starts giving me this great ultimate warrior impression too. as you,
Starting point is 00:47:44 Hulk O'Gogan. Which reminds me, for years and years and years, I thought Hulk Hogan's name was Ho-Cogan, like H-O-Cogan,
Starting point is 00:47:59 or H-O-Cogan. I had no idea for many years that his last name was Hogan. And it's probably because I heard Ultimate Warriors say it that way so many times. But on the list of wrestling adjacent guests, like celebrities who are
Starting point is 00:48:18 wrestling fans, I would love to have McCulley Culkin on the show. How good would that be? He was on Freddie Prince's podcast. And Freddie Prince Jr. was such a great guest. He's someone, another person who's not a wrestler, but like knows their stuff because Freddie Prince Jr. worked as a writer for WWE for many years. McCauley Culkin would love that. one, George Kittle. He's done a few things in WWE. He's a huge fan. Like great friends with Penta, too. There'd be a ton of stories there. George Kittle, let's make that happen. George Kittle, if you're listening, which doesn't seem possible, but be great. Danielle Fischel, Topanga from Boy Meets World, would, she'd be just amazing. Would love to talk to her about all
Starting point is 00:49:13 kinds of wrestling things. Matthew McConaughey is a huge wrestling fan and whenever they're in Texas, you see him in the crowd. He had a moment there where he was yelling back and forth with Kevin Owens and Kevin Owens even kind of said like, I don't know. If it leads to something cool, that'd be awesome to have a wrestling match with an Oscar winner. So there's quite a few. I'm trying to think of who else because let me pull up the list here again. Snoop Dog. WWE Hall of Famer does the people's elbow out of nowhere when he kind of had to save that segment when Shane McMahon tore his quads Snoop Dogg would be fantastic. Jason Kelsey. We know Jason Kelsey's a huge WWE fan. He had that moment at WrestleMania 40. So there's a lot. Shack. Shack would be
Starting point is 00:50:06 another good one. Jelly roll I think would be so fantastic. I think that he exceeded everybody's expectations at SummerSlam. Like he looked like he knew what he was doing. And I'd love to hear even more about his training process. And I've been talking to Jelly Roll about making this happen. He's on a European tour right now, which comes to an end in a few days. So just keep your fingers crossed for me. Put some good vibes out in the world that we can make an interview with Jelly Roll happen
Starting point is 00:50:38 at some point in time. But there's a lot. There's quite a few. and I think that Dan Soder was a really good example. Paul Walter Houser, Golden Globe winner, has been on the show before. I think he'll be on the show again sometime soon, but he's not, like, he's not just wrestling adjacent anymore.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Like, he's doing his thing. He's had, like, I think, 20 matches. And he's crushing it. Like, he doesn't just look like an actor who's out there just taking some bumps. Like, he is a wrestler who also happens to act, or an actor who also, like, happens to, love wrestling. And the last interview that I did with Paul Walter Houser was like
Starting point is 00:51:15 year and a half almost two years ago and he was just dipping his toe into wrestling. I think he'd had like two or three matches at that point in time. Now he's had like 20. So like it'll be a totally different conversation. So there's a lot. And if you happen to be listening and you are like Snoop Dog's cousin or you're like Jason Kelsey's, I don't know, aunt, Please. Hook a brother up. Let's make this thing happen. C.jones.89 on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:51:50 Joe Hendry appeared in the NXT homecoming intro. Bobby Rood said he made it. And in a post on the WWE recruit page on Instagram, he's there as well. Does that mean he's officially in WWE? I think the answer as of right now is no, but it's just a matter of time.
Starting point is 00:52:11 as it stands right now, I believe he's still under TNA contract. And he actually even said during an interview with me earlier this year that his contract ends in 2025. He didn't say when it ends. So it could end in September. It could end in October. It could end on December 31st, 2025. But his contract with TNA ends this year. And I think it's just a matter of time before that ends. And then I would imagine the next day, it's just a formality he gets signed with WWE. He's already done so many things he's been in some of the highest profile moments in WWE over the last year, like one of the biggest pops at the Royal Rumble. Then he gets a surprise WrestleMania match against Randy Orton. Amazing and what a reaction
Starting point is 00:53:02 that was. Like the place just was so loud for that. He's already had these huge moments. Clearly, WWE trust that Joe Hendry can bring it and that Joe Hendry can deliver. So I would love to see where Joe Henry's contract goes and just career goes when he's full time with WWE. And he did amazing things in TNA. And he was able to lift TNA in so many ways and brought so many new eyes to TNA. Like I'm still blown away as a massive TNA fan that we. saw the TNA world champion walk out at the Royal Rumble with the TNA championship around his waist. Then we saw the exact same thing happen at WrestleMania. TNA world champion walks out there
Starting point is 00:53:50 with the championship around his waist. Wild. I never in a million years thought that that partnership would happen and that was even a possibility. I loved it. Joe Henry was able to bring so many eyes to TNA and I would love to see what he can do when he's fully with WWE. So if the rumors are true, and I saw my good friend John Alba reported that he's being phased out of TNA and that he will likely be with WWE in early 2026, that could line up with the Royal Rumble. We could have a nice surprise pop for him at the Royal Rumble again, but something that would end up leading to more of a storyline, not just a one-off like we had this year. So I guess with that one, you know, time will tell. Steve Parsons on Facebook sent this one in and said,
Starting point is 00:54:42 you often speak about visiting as many MLB parks as you can with your dad. What is your Mount Rushmore of Major League Baseball Stadiums? We love the Mount Rushmore questions, don't we? I have such a love-hate relationship with Mount Rushmore questions because you can only pick four. And it's my personal list. So I need to point up a. Before we get into this, I just want to make it clear, as always, this is my list. And if I don't include your favorite stadium or your favorite city, that doesn't mean I don't
Starting point is 00:55:18 enjoy your stadium or your city or I didn't have an enjoyable time at your stadium or in your city. Just want to get that out of the way. My dad and I have this tradition, which I absolutely love. We go to a different Major League Baseball Stadium every year. We've been doing this since I was 17. We've been to 26 of 30 stadiums. So I can only talk about the 26 that we've been to.
Starting point is 00:55:45 We have yet to see the Mets, A's, Cardinals, or Royals. So I can't speak to those stadiums. We also saw the twins play at the Metro Dome and not Target Field. I've heard great things about Target Field, but I haven't gone there yet. And I will say the Metro Dome is one of the absolute worst stadiums I've ever been. It was the worst stadium for sure. Tropicana Field right behind that. And if you've been to the Trop,
Starting point is 00:56:13 you are aware that it is not a good ballpark at all. Like the ceiling is so low with the walkways. Like if it hits this part of the roof, it's a double. If it hits this part of the roof, it's a home run. Like maybe you just make the roof a little higher. I don't know. Just saying.
Starting point is 00:56:31 But absolute locks on my Mount Rushmore. are Fenway and Wrigley. I just, Fenway and Wrigley are just classic baseball parks. You feel like you've been transported back in time when you go there. And there's something that's so special and so magical about the atmosphere there.
Starting point is 00:56:54 And also just the atmosphere like around the stadium, especially Fenway. Like as you're walking down the street, like leading into it, you're just like, oh my goodness, like so much history here. So those are one. one, two, all the time. My dad's list is the same.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Like, those are one, two. Like, absolutely, like, love those. I would go back. I've been back to both of those many times, but love those. And I think there's also, like, two categories when you're talking about major league baseball stadiums. There's, like, there's the classics, like the ones I just listed. Also, we went to a game.
Starting point is 00:57:27 One of our first stadiums we went to was old Yankee Stadium. And, like, old, definitely, like, little, falling apart a little bit. But what a, what an atmosphere to go to see a game at old Yankee Stadium. Amazing. New Yankee Stadium's great too, but it's like a Coliseum. Like it doesn't have the same charm that old Yankee Stadium had. But there's two categories.
Starting point is 00:57:52 There's the classic ballparks and there's the modern day ballparks. And so I've got two classic ballparks that will forever be on my list. Even if I go to Target Field and love it or if I love the new A's stadium when they play in Las Vegas and that stadium does look incredible. But of the modern day parks, I fell in love with Petco Park. We went there a few years ago, San Diego. And it's just, it feels like it's like so naturally integrated into the city. And there's like a, like a hill, like a grassy hill in right field that you can sit on. It just felt like, for lack of a better word, like a cozy little park.
Starting point is 00:58:36 And I just, I really, I really loved it. And it's also cool that it's like driving distance from where we are now. Like pretty cool that we can drive to quite a few ballparks within like two hour. Yeah, about a two hour drive, depending on traffic, of course. Angels, we can see the Angels play like 10, 15 minutes from where we live. Dodgers, which I loved and I was so fortunate. We went to the World Series there last year, which is crazy. and then Petco Park.
Starting point is 00:59:04 So Petco and then the last spot's always so tough on a Mount Rushmore. Why, you got to do this to me, Steve. But I'm going to go with, I'm going to go. It's so hard to narrow it down. I'm going to go with Oracle Park, San Francisco Giants. And I went to this with my dad when it was called Pack Bell. And we went there and saw Barry Bond's play, which doesn't really fast.
Starting point is 00:59:34 factor into the atmosphere that we like there or anything else like that. But how cool is it that if you're a lefty, or I mean if you're a righty too, but if you're a lefty and you pull it and you pull a home run and it goes out of the stadium and right field goes into the bay. Like, and people like in kayaks paddle over and grab the ball. Like that is so cool. So Oracle Park is just a, that's a really, it's a special spot. And I did not mean to put two out of the four here in California,
Starting point is 01:00:08 but that's just the way the cookie crumbles, I guess. Lots of other great parks. I don't want to list a few and then miss out on others because that wouldn't be fair. But on today, on this particular day as I'm recording this, those are my four. And it comes down to just like vibe. It comes down to like just the vibe in the stadium, the atmosphere. I don't know how, like, there's. certain stadiums that you take your seat, no matter what section you're in, and it just feels like
Starting point is 01:00:39 baseball should be played here. And then there's some other stadiums where you take your seat and, I don't know, like it's like a lot of cement or it just doesn't feel like homey. It just feels like it's very like, I don't know, manufactured in a way. But those are my four. And if you ask me this question next year. Who knows? Maybe my answer will be slightly different. Benny on Spotify says, Hey, Chris, Ben here from Arkansas.
Starting point is 01:01:11 My question for asks CVV is, has there ever been a time where you stopped watching wrestling and or almost quit watching wrestling? Thanks for all you do and helping me get through the work week. I hope you've had a great work week, Ben from Arkansas.
Starting point is 01:01:27 I've never been close to quitting watching wrestling. Not even close. but I think that if you've been a fan long enough, we all kind of go through cycles where there's cycles where you're watching it all the time. You are like just crazy about it. And then there's cycles where you kind of fall off and you're just, you're keeping up with it.
Starting point is 01:01:45 But maybe it's not a priority to watch every Raw or every Smackdown or certainly back 15, 20 years ago, order every PLA or find a friend who's ordering it and go to their place. Or find a friend with the, remember the cable box? Remember the scramblers? For me, it was like 0-304, and I didn't fall off completely.
Starting point is 01:02:13 But I was just a little bit lapsed when it came to like watching Raw every Monday, especially. Or like keeping up with the PLAs. Like I still watch them. I still like, I'd say I watched like maybe half of them. But it was when I was in college. And I think a lot of it now that I'm, looking back in hindsight, a lot of it maybe had to do with things kind of got a little
Starting point is 01:02:36 wonky after WCW got bought out. The roster was so full of talent, but almost in a bad way. Like the roster was so bloated. They didn't know what to do with everybody, like men and women. There was like everybody you could ever imagine for the most part, they were there, except for like some big ones like Sting. But they didn't know how to book them right. Like the roster was already so full and had so much great talent, 99, 2000, 2001. And then all of the WCW talent now comes over. And it's like, well, we already had a great roster. And then we're bringing in all of these other very talented people.
Starting point is 01:03:17 And we don't really have a spot for them. And we certainly don't have a storyline for some of them or really for any of them. Like, look what they did to DDP. like DDP just like they just gave them nothing to work with and his WWE career was just like nothing compared to his WCW career he he's had so much potential and like they just didn't do anything with same with Buff Bagwell buff bagwell wrestled one match in WWE and I think that some of that is due to like Buff's own personal issues but like the list could go on and on about this Scott Steiner's another
Starting point is 01:03:58 other example. But I think there were a lot of those, a lot of things during that time that just storylines weren't great. And also like, I was deep into school and socializing at school. And I also had a class on Monday nights. I had a class from 7 p.m. to 9.50 p.m. on Monday nights. So I was at best missing the first hour of Raw. Although I do remember many times, we took a 15 minute break in the middle of that class. So basically like 7 to like 820 would be the first part of that class. Take a break. Then 830 to 950 would be the rest of that class.
Starting point is 01:04:39 There were a lot of times, I'm not going to lie that I left during the break. Or I would look at my, that was in that class with my buddy, my roommate, actually, Alex. I lived in a house with four of my best friends in college. I would look at Alex and be like, you want to go home and see Raw? Should we go watch Raw? Let's go. Or should we watch Ron and then go to the bar? Okay, let's go.
Starting point is 01:04:58 That would happen a lot. So that was my kind of window of time, but I feel like everybody has that for one reason or another, whether it's things going on in your personal life, you're busy with other things, new job, new school, whatever it happens to be. Or maybe it's just like some of the storylines just, you know, aren't grabbing you. But that was it for me. But definitely never a time when I fell off completely. In fact, during that time, there was a movie theater near us.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Remember when they would show the WWE paper views at movie theaters? And they're starting to do that again. And they're also doing it with AEW, which I think is so cool. Like, there's nothing like seeing it in a movie theater. Like, it's the next best thing to going. Like, if you can't be there or if it's nowhere close to where you live, maybe it's in another country. Like when I watched Clash in Paris at Cosm, the big, like, dome-style movie theater,
Starting point is 01:05:51 like stadium seating. It's just, it's so cool being there because the crowd is like just as hot. I remember going to the movie theaters the day after the pay-per-view and asking if I could have the movie poster. Like the movie poster from the PLE from the pay-per-view.
Starting point is 01:06:10 I'd be like, oh, hey, I saw that you have the sign there for Royal Rumble or Armageddon. If you guys are going to throw that out, could I just have it? Oh, yeah, sure. Do you want this one from last? Last month, too, I wish I still had those. Maybe they're in my parents' basement somewhere
Starting point is 01:06:26 with those VHS tapes that I was talking about. But that was really cool to, like, go and have those full-size movie posters. They hung in our house for a long time in college. A.E. Vega, 1991 on Instagram says, since it's the 101 Dalmatian edition, the 101 Dalmatians edition, of Ask CVV, what is your favorite Disney movie? I've got two.
Starting point is 01:06:54 Lion King and Aladdin are my top two. I've got a lot of favorites, but I can sing every song from both of those movies. And you'll see what I mean. There's a little nugget on Tuesday's episode with Mark Nash, which I'm pumped for you guys to hear this episode
Starting point is 01:07:13 on Tuesday. Mark Nash is the new WWE ring announcer. He's the Never Seen 17 ring announcer. And he just does such a phenomenal job. Love the conversation that we recorded last week. Before he got hired by WWE and before he was, before he was the ring announcer for top rank boxing, he was in a Broadway show.
Starting point is 01:07:37 He was in The Lion King as a Broadway show. And he played Timon. So during the interview, I said, what would you say? If I said, I can see what's happening? And then he goes, and they don't have a clue. So this ridiculous knowledge that I have from watching the Lion King 153 times in 1994 has all come back to me. So, yeah, Aladdin and Lion King are my two favorites.
Starting point is 01:08:12 And you know what? We haven't showed them to my kids yet. It's a matter of time, I'm sure. Maybe a few years from now. But that's it. Lion King and Aladdin. Those are mine. Those are my two favorites then.
Starting point is 01:08:26 I think they probably will be forever. And that is the final question on this. Ask CVV number 101. The Dalmatian edition. Yes, the 101 Dalmatian edition. And I already told you who the guest is for Tuesday. It's Mark Nash. What a fantastic conversation.
Starting point is 01:08:48 And yes, this does mean. there will be a new intro to the show in the next few weeks that you'll be hearing because, of course, if you have a WWE ring announcer sitting in front of you for an hour long interview, at some point you've got to say, hey, would you do me the honor of announcing my name? And that's what he did. And it's, man, it's phenomenal. But this has been such a great episode. Thank you for hanging out with me on this one.
