Starting point is 00:00:00 Chris the greetings and salutations my friend welcome back to another one here on Insight I'm CVV Chris Van Fleet
Starting point is 00:00:28 thank you for joining us on this episode and thank you for making Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet hit a 619
Starting point is 00:00:37 on that follow button on Apple or Spotify or wherever you're listening right now so you don't miss out on any new episodes that we have coming up
Starting point is 00:00:46 I just got back from Nashville where I recorded three episodes. They were all great, but one of them is a big one. Like, you're going to be like, man, how did CVV get that person on the show? And trust me, I'm still asking myself that question. And we recorded for almost two hours at this person's house. Huge. The episode is planned to go live on Thursday, and you will know it when you see it. So keep an eye out for that one on Thursday.
Starting point is 00:01:18 I love how much you guys enjoyed the episode with Eoskeye earlier this week. She's just so fun. Like we already know she's one of the most talented wrestlers in the world. But in this interview, I think we just saw just how she's just fun. Like she's so sweet and so funny. And the whole conversation about cookie dough and cookie dough ice cream, it was amazing. I loved it so much. If you haven't checked out that episode yet, do yourself a favor and listen to it at some point today or this weekend.
Starting point is 00:01:50 What a wrestling weekend we had last weekend. Crown Jewel Saturday, down for glory on Sunday. And I'd like to point out that I went a perfect five for five with Crown Jewel predictions. Give myself a little Barry Horowitz pat on the back there. Can you hear that a little pat on the back? I don't know if that means that I had good predictions and that I'm that good at figuring it out. out or maybe that it was just a kind of predictable PLE. I don't know, maybe a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B put together. But I just had so much fun last weekend watching both shows.
Starting point is 00:02:28 And speaking of shows, the next Insight Live is coming to you in about a month and a half. Friday, November 28th. We're doing it in San Diego, the day before Survivor's series. Tickets for that one are on sale at CVVTix.com. And then Las Vegas, the week of WrestleMania, 42, I will see you back at Circa Resort and Casino, Las Vegas on Thursday, April 16th. Grab those tickets. Grab those CVVIP tickets before they sell out, and I will either see you in San Diego, or I will see you in Las Vegas, or maybe I will see you in both cities. That'd be amazing. Welcome, my friends. Ask CVV number 101, five time, five time, five time, five time, five time,
Starting point is 00:03:23 WCW champion edition. Also, ask CVV number 105 knuckle shuffle. Ask CVV number 105, F5. And yeah, I've got one more for you. Ask CVV number 105 star frog splash. I love it. I'm not sure how many other numbers lend themselves to these wrestling references,
Starting point is 00:03:52 but we are certainly going to try. If you have a question for next week for AskCTVV number 106-sided ring, leave a comment on Spotify. Leave a comment on Spotify with the word frog so that I know you're listening because it is the 105 star frog. Frog Splash edition.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Or shoot me an email CVV at chrisfanvly.com with your question or send it out on social media using that hashtag ask CVV. Let's kick it off with this one from Trent. Dot Young 88 on Instagram who says, I hope the sign was easy enough to see. And he sent me a picture of this sign. Maybe you saw it when you were watching Crown Jewel. Trent was sitting in the front row with a sign that said real, real one.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Although if you are sitting in the front row, row at a WWPLE with a sign that says real, real one for everybody to see when they're watching it on TV, I feel like there needs to be a whole new category for you. You are the realest, real, real, real, real one when you do that. So Trent, thank you. I appreciate you so much. And thank you to everyone who took a photo of that and tagged me online or emailed it to me. It was so, so cool to see. There was also another sign in the audience, CVV for Prime Minister. So did, did anyone see that? That was so cool to see as well. Obviously, I can't run for the Prime Minister of Australia, but I appreciate the thought. So shout out to Rob's wrestling collectibles on Instagram. He was the one
Starting point is 00:05:24 who had that CVV for Prime Minister signed. So that was awesome. But Trent says, hope the sign was easy enough to read. Would love to hear your thoughts on Crown Jewel and the Perth crowds. I just think the event as a whole. was such a huge step up from Russell Paloza, which was just a few weeks ago. Like, I almost feel like both of these shows, Russell Paloza and Crown Jewel came from two completely different years with completely different storylines.
Starting point is 00:05:53 But no, these are just three weeks apart from each other. We just had much better matches and much better storytelling at Crown Jewel. It kind of feels like things reset on Smackdown last Friday. Like, that was just a much better show than we. we've seen in many months. Right? Like there were so many things that happened during that show where you were like, okay, they have stepped things up and I can't wait to see how the year ends here.
Starting point is 00:06:20 But as far as Crown Jewel goes, John Sina versus AJ Stiles, oh my goodness. This was everything that you could have ever hoped that it would be. In one word, simply phenomenal. That was two words. The word was phenomenal. The word was phenomenal. The word was phenomenal. I was setting up simply, here's the word, phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:06:44 AJ with the throwback gear to TNA when he was the Ex-Division champion in 2005. And we talked last week about what if he came out like with the short hair and clean shaven and like, yeah, that's not really going to work because nobody in WWE has seen him with that look. But this was the perfect way to do it. Him wearing that same gear from 20 years ago, I loved it. I love seeing all the photos online. Everybody picked up on that immediately.
Starting point is 00:07:10 It was amazing to see. I say this all the time, but nostalgia is a hell of a drug. And we got so much of it here in this match with all the tributes, the skull-crushing finale, the choke slam, the accolade, the walls of Jericho,
Starting point is 00:07:27 and they even called it the walls of Jericho. Sweet chin music, RKO, Tombstone, Scorpion Death Drop, Kokita Clutch, Angels Wing, the beautiful moment, of course, when Sina hit Sister Abigail. That was magical. And that was a brutal Sister Abigail, by the way. But you could see how much that moment meant to Sina.
Starting point is 00:07:49 And I love that he paused, took it in, looked around. Then we saw the fireflies. Getting goosebumps just talking about this right now. And then after that, I love the crowd chanting for the 619. And Wade Barrett and Michael Cole in commentary, basically like, yeah, right. Like John Cena's going to do a 6-1-9, okay. And then 30 seconds later, he goes for it and obviously A.J. meets him with the clothesline, but the fact that he just teased that, I loved so much. And that crowd in Perth was basically like the third man in the ring. Like,
Starting point is 00:08:25 that crowd in Perth, not just for the Sina and AJ match, but for the whole event, Smackdown and as well, the whole weekend, added so much to everything that we saw there. I loved it. But more than anything, with John Cena in this match, you can tell he's just having fun out there. Like, you can tell that the pressure is off. Like, I feel like there might have been some pressure during that heel run to make things work and to just try to continue to push that story along. You can tell he's just going out there and he's soaking in every. single second, every single moment of it. I can't believe we only have four of these left. Wild. After the match, Michael Cool said two things that really stood out for me. The first one,
Starting point is 00:09:16 ladies and gentlemen, this is why we fell in love with pro wrestling. Man, he is so right with that. The other one, and this feels like it hits home because we know December 13th is less than two months away. John Cena's final match when Cole said enjoy it while you can. Oh, man. But that match was just pure joy. Pure joy. I was smiling from ear to ear from the introductions until Sina walked into the back. This was a love letter to pro wrestling.
Starting point is 00:09:51 And I just think that this is a match that won't just define this run for John Sina. But this is a match that's going to define this decade, I think. Like this is going to be a match that we talk about for many years to come because this is one of John Cena's best matches ever, not just one of his best matches on the farewell tour, like one of John Cena's best matches of all time. The big question, though, is how is John Cena going to top this? Like the pressure is on because that match was about as close to perfect as you can get. And for someone like John Cena who has faced so much criticism over his career for not knowing how to wrestle, you can't wrestle, like how many years did the fans chant that at him or the five moves of doom, he went out there and basically did every move imaginable and showed people, not only can he do the moves, but he can do what's more important here.
Starting point is 00:10:51 He can tell a story in the ring and he can make you feel something. But I feel like the pressure is on. And I have this feeling that they are, I'm sure they're already talking about what John Cena's final match is going to look like. And I'm sure they already have the opponent picked out and they've been working through the match already and coming up with ideas. But I just have this feeling in my gut that they're going to do something really special like we saw at night two of WrestleMania 40. Like where there's just all of these different components, all of these different people that end up playing a role in the match, almost like the Avengers. right? Almost like Avengers end game. It's kind of what we got at Night 2 of WrestleMania 40 when Cody finished the story.
Starting point is 00:11:33 But I just feel like they're going to do something where it's, it has to be memorable. Like they cannot fall flat in Cina's final match, but this is such a tough act to follow. Because Crown Jewel was so good in that match with AJ Styles and the crowd and everything together for that was amazing. Where do we go? from here. And I can't wait to see how all of this plays out. But I loved Crown Jewel. I thought those five matches all delivered. And then we go to the next day. Bound for glory on Sunday, a record-breaking crowd for TNA. It's the biggest crowd they've ever had in North America.
Starting point is 00:12:17 We had all the feels. You want to talk about goosebumps. We had all the feels. And that Hardee's versus Dudley's match. The end of the tables match, the Dudley's handing over their boots to the Hardies and the tears that were flowing in the ring, you could see how much that moment meant to Bubba slash bully. You could see how much that moment meant to Devon. And you could see how much that moment meant to the Hardys.
Starting point is 00:12:42 And the Hardys are on a run right now. And I think in the last week, it was winning the NXT tag team championships. winning the hog wrestling tag team championships and retaining the TNA tag team championships. Like, amazing. What a run they were on. But that moment in the ring at the end of the match, that was for a lot of us, our childhood. And that was the end of an era. Like, I know that wrestling retirements are a little funny, right? Like wrestling retirements are, we've seen how many retirements Rick Flares had. And we know that,
Starting point is 00:13:23 Oftentimes, these don't hold up. But I truly think that for the Dudley boys, this is their last match together. That's for sure DeVon's last match. I'm sure Bubble will end up working some other matches, but I think for Devon, that was it. And what a way to go out. What a match between Leon Slater and Javon Evans for the X Division title. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:13:48 And keep in mind, both of those guys are only 21 years old. The future is so bright. And then Mike Santana, the main event, beating Trick Williams, becoming the new TNA world champion. It's been a long time coming. And Mike Santana has a hell of a story. If you haven't heard it, check out any of the episodes that I've done with him. But for him to overcome the demons that he's battled and to be the man that he is now,
Starting point is 00:14:20 it's amazing seeing him step into this role. I couldn't be happier from Mike Santana, but what a weekend for wrestling. I love it. Joe Reynolds on Facebook says, after waking up at 5 a.m. on the West Coast to watch Crown Jewel. It got me thinking, CVV. What time do you think WrestleMania 42 in Saudi will start?
Starting point is 00:14:45 That was an early morning. 5 a.m. on the West Coast here, 8 a.m. on the East Coast. but I get it. Like if you live in the UK, you're not waking up early, you're staying up late to watch Raw, to watch Smackdown, to watch any PLE. So for you guys, it was probably great to be able to watch a PLE at a relatively normal time. If I were to guess here, if they're going to start WrestleMania, they've been typically starting it at 7 p.m. It's a 10-hour time difference from the West Coast. So 7 p.m. would then be 9.000. 10 a.m. on the West Coast, noon on the East Coast. That would be my guess. And I suppose that's better than waking up at 5 a.m. But yeah, it's going to be going to be a little bit of a change. Like it's going to be different watching it at that time when you're used to like, all right, you set up your whole day and you're preparing and like maybe it's, you're thinking about
Starting point is 00:15:45 dinner and like you're going to eat some pizza or some wings or barbecue or whatever you're going to eat while you're watching that. Instead, you're like eating eggs and bacon and cereal or whatever happens to be for breakfast for you. Yeah, that would be my guess, Joe. I think they will work off the time there. So maybe it's a 7 p.m. start time, but I mean, we've got a year and a half to figure this out. But certainly something interesting there. Ian Eisenberg on Facebook says, what, quote, mistakes, whether real or implied, were made during John Cena's retirement tour that they, WWE will hopefully not repeat in the 26 AJ Styles retirement tour. I think, I don't think A.J. Stiles is going to get a retirement tour.
Starting point is 00:16:36 And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way at all. Obviously, A.J. Stiles is one of the greatest of all time. I think that what we saw with John Sina here is something we may never see again. A 12-month retirement tour with the dates laid out, a lot of them in advance. I don't think that's something we're going to see here with AJ Stiles. I think AJ is going to continue working the regular schedule that he's working. And then as we get down to maybe his last match or maybe they'll announce his last Raw, last Smackdown, that's what I think it's going to end up being instead. So I don't think there's going to be
Starting point is 00:17:15 as much pressure on AJ to have this through line that goes January all the way through to December like John Cena's had. Like John Cena has had this, so much of the marketing, so much of the planning, so much of the storylines around this year have been just around like, all right, John Cena's got 30 dates left, 25 dates left, 15 dates left, you know, the countdown. is on. I don't think it's going to be that case with AJ Styles. I'm sure we will be told a month or two or many months in advance, AJ's last match is at, let's say, WrestleMania, AJ's last matches at SummerSlam, whatever the case may be. If it's up to me, and it is most certainly not up to me, but as a huge AJ Styles fan, I would love to see AJ Styles hold gold one more time. If Seth Rollins
Starting point is 00:18:09 is indeed injured if he does need to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, AJ Stiles, it was primed to be in that spot, even if he's not going to win it right now. You could throw him into a four-way match. You could throw him into a match with one other person, like a Bronbreaker, for example, or a Gunther, for example, for that vacant championship. But I would love to see AJ win the championship one more time. I also think something that we need to see is AJ Stiles have at least one more. match in TNA.
Starting point is 00:18:41 A match that makes sense, a match that has some story around it, not just him showing up for a night and having a match and then that's it, but something that actually makes sense and pushes some sort of story forward or helps a younger star get over. Like maybe there's something there with Leon Slater. When AJ did return to TNA, it was Leon Slater, who he was in the ring with. That could make a lot of sense. I don't know if there's a lot of, like, I don't know if it's the mistakes that they're going to make here that they wouldn't want to make on an AJ Stiles retirement run.
Starting point is 00:19:14 But I think that when you look at the John Sina retirement run farewell tour as a whole, I think it's easy to say, well, the mistake made here was the heel run. But it's easy to do that with like the wonderful hindsight that we have, the 2020 vision we have of being able to look back and go, yeah, that thing didn't work. but on March 1st of 2025, it seemed like the greatest idea. When he kicked Cody Rhodes in the nuts at Elimination Chamber, it was like, oh my gosh, buckle up. What are we in for?
Starting point is 00:19:49 And then I feel like the promo he cut on Raw in Brussels, that was pretty great. And then it just kind of fizzled out from there because we just didn't get a great explanation from it. So I would say that in that, if AJ Stiles is going to have this last run, I don't, I don't I don't think it's going to be a retirement tour. I think it's just going to be his last run that leads up to his last match. I think it's just don't do too much. Just keep doing what he's doing.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Keep going out there and putting on banger matches because he's AJ Stiles. And just let us enjoy it. And I don't, I think there's a lot that can be said about John Cena's farewell tour. And I'm sure that this will be picked apart week to week, match to match for many years to come. but if not for the John Sina heel run, is that moment at SummerSlam as sweet? With the black and white of the John Sina Titan Tron switching over to the bright colors
Starting point is 00:20:50 and John Sina running out and greeting the crowd as the baby face that he is now, is that moment as sweet. And I think the answer is obviously no. Like if he just goes out and plays the greatest hits all year, yes, sure, of course it's exciting. Of course it's memorable. Of course it means something.
Starting point is 00:21:07 But I felt like it meant that much more because we didn't have it for, he was a heel for like almost five months. And because of that, it made it that much more special when we did see that old John scene that we were familiar with. So I think that with that said, it's just let AJ just go out there and do what AJ does. Like, AJ doesn't need anything special here. He doesn't need a crazy storyline. just let AJ go out and be AJ Styles.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Let the crowd sing his song. Let the crowd like chant for him. Let us just enjoy it. And whenever that moment happens, whoever that opponent happens to be, I can't wait. I can't wait to see AJ's career culminate with that one final match.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And you know it's AJ Styles. He doesn't half-ass anything. It's going to be one hell of a match when that happens. This episode is brought to you by Timeline. Your cells will thank you. XVR Flores on Spotify says CVV, CVV, CVV, lots of exclamation marks there. Are we going to get basic thugonomics seen on any of these last appearances?
Starting point is 00:23:34 I think no. I don't think it's going to happen. I think that if we were going to see any change in John Cena's entrance theme, it would have happened when he turned heel. And there were a lot of people asking for the doctor of Thuganomics to come back after that Heel turned at Elimination Chamber in Toronto. There were also a lot of people online asking for John Cena to come out using that Heel entrance theme that he was going to use when he was planned to turn Heal in 2012, a song called Fear My Heal. name. John Sina told me in an interview that we did last year that when he was going to turn heel before Rock Sina 1, so that'd be 2012, Russellmania 28, that he was going to use this other theme song. He told me, quote, I recorded it with saxophones instead of trumpets. It's called
Starting point is 00:24:23 Fear My Name. I still have it locked away somewhere, and if it ever sees the light of day, I want to remix it with trumpets instead of saxophones, but it has the hit of time is now. I'm thinking that after this John Cena farewell tour is done, WWE needs to release this song. We need to hear Fear My Name. What were we missing out on? I got to hear this. But I genuinely think that the last time that we'll see the doctor of Thuganomics
Starting point is 00:24:52 is that WrestleMania 35 entrance. It was a lovely surprise at WrestleMania 35. He interrupted Elias, came out, Dr. of Thuganomics wearing the New York Yankees jersey. but I think that was it. I think that's the last time that we will see that version of him. Because I feel like now,
Starting point is 00:25:10 when people are paying their hard-earned money to see John Cena on one of these final four performances, two Raws, a PLE, and a Saturday night's main event, they want to hear, time is now. They want the da-da-dan-dan, the whole thing with the music.
Starting point is 00:25:29 But it would have been cool at some point on this farewell tour to hear Basic Thuganomics. And to see Sina come out, backwards hat, chain around his neck, throwback jersey, it would be so cool to see because I personally think
Starting point is 00:25:45 that Basic Thuganomics is a better song than Time is Now. I think Time Is Now is a better entrance theme. But if you look at the lyrics to Basic Thuganomics, my goodness, taking over Earth, still kicking in Uranus,
Starting point is 00:26:01 Two-face rappers walk away with four shiners. Like a broken needle. Kid you missing the point? So many great lines. I talked about it with John Cena and that interview last year. I talked about it with Peter Rosenberg yesterday on the episode that we had. I just, if I, I listen to basic dogonomics at the gym with relative frequency. I must have listened to it like a dozen times this week alone.
Starting point is 00:26:28 I would love to hear it again. I just don't think it's in the cards. Shane White on Instagram says, did you see that tweet about a talent trade with AEW? Could we ever see this for one night only? AJ Styles to AEW and Edge to WWE. So Shane is referencing a tweet from an account, King Ter Bear on X, that says,
Starting point is 00:26:54 do a one-night trade like the TNA 2012 thing they did with Flair for Christian. AJ Stiles does a dream match in AEW and Edge Russell Sina. So for those of you who don't know the background, four horsemen were getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012. The problem was Rick Flair was still under contract with TNA.
Starting point is 00:27:16 His contract was ending, but he was still under contract with TNA. So in order to get Flair to appear in WWE, TNA wanted something to return. They wanted Christian back for one night at Slammiversary. And the kicker here was the Christian was the intercontinental champion at the time. So crazy to think, like now TNA and WWE have this great working relationship. And it's benefited everybody, fans, talent, everybody.
Starting point is 00:27:45 But 13 years ago in 2012, and this is fresh off of when TNA tried to reignite the Monday Night Wars for like three weeks. And if you don't remember this, they went head. to head with Monday Night Raw for like three weeks, their ratings were not good. And then they went back to like, hey, just kidding. We're going to go back to having our show on, I believe it's Thursday. But this was a big deal at that time. Could it happen now? Pretty unlikely. But how cool would that be? Especially as we're talking about AJ Stiles retiring next year, give him a match like a dream match in AEW. like, man, when Will Osprey comes back from injury, how great would AJ Styles versus Will Osprey be?
Starting point is 00:28:33 Oh my gosh. And then with all of the rumors and all of the chatter about this, if Edge is still, in fact, under contract with AEW, maybe this is the way they can make it work for John Cena versus Edge to happen. Is it John Cena's last match? I don't know, but it could be one of John Cena's last matches. I love that we can talk about this in terms of like fantasy booking, but this just seems really, really unlikely.
Starting point is 00:29:01 I think it's a different situation with Rick Flair just appearing as a TNA talent as part of the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. And then all Christian did on Slammerversary was come out and cut like a quick promo and that was it. It was a very cool moment, but it wasn't like he went out and wrestled a match because I think there's a whole bunch of other stuff that goes into this like with liability of like, If the guy that's under our contract goes on your show and gets injured, then what happens there?
Starting point is 00:29:29 I love the idea of it, but I think in principle, I don't think it can happen. Patrick on Spotify says, hey, CVV, been listening for close to two years. At least once a week I check in on what I'm grateful for. I love that. If a live show were to ever be in Seattle or Vancouver, I'll be there. I love Vancouver. I lived to Vancouver for a year. hosted a show called 969 there on what ended up becoming MTV2 Canada.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Would love to come back. For Ask CVV number 105, I would like you to predict Sina's last opponents. I like Mello in Boston, Hendry in MSG, Dirty Dom in San Diego, and Gunther or L.A. Knight. Yeah, in D.C. Those are some very interesting predictions. and I think that you probably got at least half of them right. And I don't obviously know this for a fact.
Starting point is 00:30:25 But I feel like if we throw enough names out there, something's going to stick, right? Broken clock is right twice a day. But if we look at opponents that he hasn't faced, and we're talking realistic opponents that John Cena hasn't faced yet, because I don't think we're going to get any more repeat matches. I would love to see another one with Brock Lesder,
Starting point is 00:30:44 but I don't think that's going to happen. I think that match at Russell Paloza is the last. John Cena-Brock-Lesder match ever. I would love to see another match with Cody, but I don't, you know, I don't really see how that would line up here. I would love to see, I would love to see every match with AJ Stiles after what we just saw a crown jewel. Amazing. But I think that with four dates left, I think it's going to be four matches. I think he's going to wrestle at that Boston show. I think he's going to wrestle at that MSG show. I think for sure he wrestles a Survivor series, and I still have my fingers crossed that it's a one-on-one match and not him being a
Starting point is 00:31:18 being part of war games. I just think that that would be such a waste of his second last match. It needs to be a one-on-one match. And then, of course, the final match in D.C. Saturday night's main event. So if we look at opponents he hasn't faced yet, realistic opponents that he hasn't faced yet, because obviously there are many that he hasn't faced, but most of those aren't going to happen. But we're looking here at if the injury is a work, Seth Rollins is a possibility. and we'll talk more about Seth Rollins in just a little bit. Gunther is a possibility, and that's a name that's been thrown around quite a lot.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Dirty Dominic Mysterio is someone I would love to see. How about his dad? Ray Mysterio. San Diego. I think we would all love to see that one. Bronbreaker makes a ton of sense. Drew McIntyre. How come Roman Raines isn't being talked about with this at all?
Starting point is 00:32:15 Like, I feel like Roman Rain's name is like way down the list. You said L.A. Knight? I would, man, L.A. Knight would be amazing. I just feel like with only four matches left, I don't feel like it's going to be L.A. night. But you mentioned Joe Hendry. And I've thought about this a lot. While it hasn't been like officially reported yet, I feel like it's pretty clear that Joe
Starting point is 00:32:43 Hendry's time with TNA is now finished. I mean, he wasn't part of Bown for Glory, which is their biggest show of the year. And for Joe Hendry, one of TNA's top stars to not be on their top show and he's not injured, I think that says everything that we need to know there. And Joe Henry's been spending a lot of time in NXT over the last many months. I would have to guess that Joe Hendry's deal with TNA is up, which means it's just a matter of time before he signs with WWE if he hasn't already. which then means we're going to see him debut, or I guess re-debue, return, or I guess his official
Starting point is 00:33:23 WWE debut as a WWE superstar. That's going to happen at any point in time here. I just had this, like, feeling in my gut as I was flying back from Nashville the other day, yesterday. I just had this feeling in my gut where I was like, what if Joe Hendry was a surprise opponent at Madison Square Garden. It's so funny that you said that right here, Patrick. Like we got the same wavelength here. And the thing about Joe Hendry of his story is everything that he has like put out into the universe and dreamed about happening has actually happened. Think about it. And go back and listen to the interview that I did with him a few months ago. Royal Rumble as the TNA champion.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Crazy. Even his debut in NXT last year was wild and at that time, like pretty unprecedented. Him winning the TNA championship. That was another thing that he just put out into the world. And then not just an appearance at WrestleMania, not just a match at WrestleMania, but a match with Randy Orton at WrestleMania.
Starting point is 00:34:38 crazy. So he's been putting this out of the world for a while that he's like, I don't know how it's going to happen. I don't know when it's going to happen. But I feel like I'm going to have a match with John Cena. And this was what he was saying to me in an interview that we did months ago. I'm like, you really believe that? Like, you actually think that's going to happen? He's like, yeah, why would I feel like it couldn't happen? Look at everything else I've done. I've had a pretty great track record. And I think he's on to something. I think he's right. as for actually like predicting out, I don't, I don't think I'm there yet. I don't think I can, I can throw a name and say, yeah, it's going to be so-and-so in New York and
Starting point is 00:35:19 it's going to be so-and-so in Boston. But all we'd be doing is just guessing. And all we'd be doing at that point is just like fantasy booking our own stuff. I think with the list of names that I threw out here, I guess we'll check back in about two months, but I have a pretty good feeling that I could go four for four with the what do I throw out eight names. I think four of his final opponents are likely in that conversation that we, of those names that we threw out there. But I really just want to sit back and enjoy this ride. I've thoroughly enjoyed a lot of John Cena's farewell tour, but I have like definitely
Starting point is 00:35:59 enjoyed like the Smackdown before SummerSlam on. Like I call it John Cena's face turn on. I love the heel turn. We've talked a lot about the heel run, but I love the heel turn. I think that that is still an iconic moment that will go down in history. But from that Friday before SummerSlam to where we're at now, I've just, I've loved it. John Cena's having so much fun out there. So like, I just want to like sit back and just enjoy what, what we get. Four more shows, four more appearances by John Cena. Tyler Adele on Spotify. says, not a question, but I think it's hilarious that Seth Rohns might actually be hurt. And there isn't a soul who's going to believe him.
Starting point is 00:36:49 I kind of love it. Actually, I really love it. For everyone who says that KFabe is dead, this is your proof right here. KFabe isn't dead. KFave is just evolved. It looks different now. But there are reports online that say the injury this time is legit. And I know that this sounds like,
Starting point is 00:37:10 like the boy who cried wolf. But the reports online say that the injury is legit. He needs to get shoulder surgery ASAP. And it seems like he may have injured it doing that coast-to-coast headbut with Cody at Crown Jewel. What a move, by the way. Wow. And I know there have been photos with him wearing a sling in Perth.
Starting point is 00:37:31 But there were also videos and photos of him on crutches before SummerSlam. So I love that we don't know. I love that we don't know. But if we're to look at the facts at hand here, the vision are now broken up. Or at least the vision that had the bronze and Seth Rowland being managed by Paul Heyman, they broke it up. They lasted for a total of just 175 days.
Starting point is 00:37:57 It may still be Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed and Bronner breaker. And I could see that continuing to move forward. But if we're to look at the facts in front of us here, why else would they break them up? unless it's for Seth Rollins to be written off a TV for a little while because he's injured. So then if Seth Rollins is injured and it's a legitimate injury, I'm guessing we're going to get the World Heavyweight Championship vacated at some point in the next week or so, which would then set up for a vacant World Heavyweight Championship match,
Starting point is 00:38:32 CM Punk versus who? Who? Who? Who? Who? because we know CM Punk is a number one contender. Is it a one-on-one match with another number one contender? I guess we're a number two contender?
Starting point is 00:38:47 Is it a four-way match? Do we get something else, a ladder match? I don't know. But seems to me that CM Punk is kind of owed a title reign that lasts for more than five minutes. So if I were to make a prediction here, if Seth Rollins is actually injured. then it seems to me that the title would them be vacated, and I would have to think that CM Punk is the next champion. But it sure seems like WWE in general is very hot on Bronbreaker.
Starting point is 00:39:20 And I know that there's been some whispers of a Brock Lesnar, Bronbreaker match at WrestleMania. And I feel like with Paul Heyman kind of hanging in the balance, managing both Braun and Bronson and also not so much managing or advocating for Brock Lesnar, but there's obviously a deep friendship there. I feel like something's going to happen there. Braun Breaker, I guess would be the baby face
Starting point is 00:39:50 if that does end up happening at WrestleMania, but I guess it's just a matter of like wait and see. But it is very interesting that Seth Rawlins is now attached to like, he could like, he could like gruesomely break his leg. like Sid Vicious break his leg and we'd all go, yeah, I don't know. Is he actually injured here?
Starting point is 00:40:13 I don't know. I did see his leg move off to the side in the way that a leg really shouldn't bend. Yeah, but I don't know. I love that he has the ability now to make us question things and to make us realize that K-Fabe still is around. Sanchez Squad on Spotify says,
Starting point is 00:40:33 CVV, what is your favorite red heart match? Do you think Brett is as bitter as the internet makes him out to be? Love the show. Ben from Shrewsbury, UK. Just one? I got to pick just one, Brad Hart match? Like, quite literally, Brad Hart versus anybody as a classic. I'm going to give you a few because, come on, I can't just pick just one.
Starting point is 00:40:58 WrestleMania 13, Brett Hart versus Stone Cold. That match is legendary on so many levels. So many levels. And obviously we know the iconic shot, Stone Cold with the blood coming down his face, refusing to submit. Amazing. The storytelling on that match is so good. Brett Hart versus Owenhart, WrestleMania 10. Brother versus brother.
Starting point is 00:41:21 Who knows you better than your brother? And the way that, like, the way that they worked that match together was just so, so good. I talked about this one a few weeks ago. My favorite match to happen outside of North America, Brett Hart versus British Bulldog. for the Intercontinental Championship, SummerSlam 1992. In my opinion, the greatest SummerSlam match of all time.
Starting point is 00:41:43 And there's just so many. How much time do you have here if we just keep talking about Brett Hart matches? Another Brett Hart match is so good as we're talking about Brett and Stone Cold. Survivor Series 96, another great match. Like something about when Austin and Brett work together, they just brought out the best in each other.
Starting point is 00:42:00 Like, if you think about some of Austin's best matches, they are most certainly. most certainly against Brett. Brett versus Mr. Perfect. King of the Ring was at 93? All right. That's it. I've named like five matches.
Starting point is 00:42:17 The point here is Brett wrestles a lot of great matches. To answer the second part of your question, I don't know. I've met Brett very, very briefly. I've tried to get him on the show many times. My fingers are still crossed that we can make that happen. Just two Canadians hanging out talking about wrestling. I would love it.
Starting point is 00:42:34 My concern, though, is I think there's an entire generation of wrestling fans now that only know Brett Hart for the quotes that they see online. And they only know Brett Hart for the Goldberg stuff. And I just think that it's too bad because Brett Hart is one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. Watch any of the matches I just listed off if you haven't seen them already. If you haven't seen them in a long time, go rewatch them. And you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. And unfortunately, there's been, there's too many people that don't know like the bulk of Brett's like best matches, which I would say all, all happen in the 90s. So if you're too young to have seen them or if you weren't a wrestling fan at that time, you're really missing out on what it meant to see Brett's heart, Brett Hart's name on a pay-per-view card.
Starting point is 00:43:27 And I really think that with that, you have to break Brett Hart's career up into like basically three chunks. So you've got everything in WWF up until him leaving. Some stuff in WCW was okay, but I just don't feel like he was booked well in WCW, but all of that up until he basically stops wrestling. Then he comes back and he works a handful of matches when he patches up the relationship with WWE. But it's not the same Brett. Like it's Brett after the stroke.
Starting point is 00:44:00 And like he's just not, he's not the same Brett the hitman heart that we're used to. And then you've got everything after that where it's these quotes from these interviews and it's Brett just like talking about things that happened in the past. But I think if you if you just, too many people ignore the Brett from the 90s is the point I'm trying to make. And I just think that when you think about Brett Hart, you have to think about that. You can't just think about him now. You have to remember how just incredible he was, how crisp he was in the ring.
Starting point is 00:44:32 Mark Fritz on Spotify says, I love the show and I love your attention on interviews. It's amazing. My question to you is, what is the most important moment in professional wrestling history? Broad question, but for me, it's a Hall of Fame ring commentator saying,
Starting point is 00:44:50 the Austin era has begun. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, much respect and gratitude. It's so tough to narrow down to just one and it's so subjective, right? because certain moments might mean something to you or might mean something different to me. But I think that when you look at just the broader scope of important moments in wrestling and the domino effect that they have, I always go back to Bash of the Beach 1996.
Starting point is 00:45:18 And it's interesting, right? Because that's not even a WWE moment. It's a WCW moment. But Hogan going out there and turning heel. Hogan being the third man. Who side is he on? Hogan being the third man was the first domino to fall. Because Hogan now turns heel.
Starting point is 00:45:37 Nobody saw that coming. The greatest heel turn of all time, bar none. There was no discussion about that. But then they formed the NWO. So now you've got three massive stars forming the NWO, the greatest faction, in my opinion, in wrestling history. That one maybe is up for debate, but that's my opinion. That then caused.
Starting point is 00:46:01 causes this whole ripple effect of now WCW starts to be interesting. Now WCW starts to win the Monday Night Wars, 83 weeks, etc. Causes WWE to completely change their style of programming. They went from being very kid friendly to going, oh my gosh, they like that stuff. They like the stuff on WCW. We've got to get a bit more of an edge to us. We've got to adopt a little bit more of an attitude to us because DX, because the NWO is formed, DX then has to form and everything that comes after that. So I think that the first domino to fall is Hogan turning heel, WWE starting to lose the Monday Night Wars, Ross losing to Nitro in the Monday Night Wars. That to me is the most important moment. I think then within that, you can say the screw job is so important because if it's not for
Starting point is 00:46:55 the screw job at Survivor Series 97, we don't get the Vince McMahon character, the Mr. McMahon character. We don't get Vince basically turning a heel and becoming this corporate character on TV, Brett, screwed Brett. So I think that that, I don't think that all of that doesn't happen, I think, unless Hulk Hogan forms the NWO, bash the beach 96. That, to me, is the most important moment. But I think that if you're looking at just WWE moments, it's the screw job because of all of the fallout
Starting point is 00:47:30 that ended up happening after that. Everything that ended up happening. But look, I understand that that one could be up for debate, but I think that when you really look at it on a granular level, it's Hogan. Bash of the Beach. Email from Matthew Thompson. Hi, Chris.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Real, real, real one here. Well, maybe not that many reels, but just want to thank you for getting me through the workday. Listening to your podcast, always make the day go quick. Anyway, on to my question, who would you put on your Mount Rushmore of superstars who should have been WWE or World Heavyweight Champion? My four would be Umaga Shinske, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy. William Regal, definitely a few more I could add in there, but there's only four spots. who would be yours thanks matthew all the way from england keep doing what you do chris well thank you for
Starting point is 00:48:28 your email matthew it's it's that new segment of the show we should have this uh this segment sponsored by it's the mount rushmore segment of the show brought to you by my bookie use the code cv no i'm just i'm just making this up but you should use the code cvv to get a 50% welcome bonus at my bookie but i love that we have a mount rushmore question on every episode now keep sending in the mount rushmore questions. We're going to end up renaming Ask CVV every Friday to just the Mount Rushmore show. But four people, the top four people, the Mount Rushmore of people to never win the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship. Mr. Perfect. And I, if we're just talking WWE Championship, Mr. Perfect. I get that he won the AWA World Championship, but that's not what we're talking.
Starting point is 00:49:22 talking about here. Never a WWE champion or WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Scott Hall slash Razor Ramon. That just feels criminal to say that. How did he never win the World Championship or the WWE Championship? You know how good Scott Hall would look with that big gold? Can't believe it. Roddy Piper. Roddy Piper to never be WWE champion. And that almost feels like a like an answer to a trivia question. Because he just feels like, feels like with the legacy that Roddy Piper had, he would just assume he was world champion. Like, I just, crazy to think he never won it. Crazy to think in a related conversation here, Jake the Sink Roberts never won a single
Starting point is 00:50:08 championship in WWE. Not one. Not the Intercontinental title, not the tag title, not the world title. Never a championship for Jake the Sink. Crazy. And then the fourth one, there's so many people that were deserving of a world. championship that never won one. But it's crazy to think that William Regal was never WWE champion or WWE World Heavyweight champion. He's the wrestler's wrestler. Like he is so
Starting point is 00:50:36 many wrestlers' favorite wrestler. And for him to never win the world championship is kind of crazy. There's so many other people that we could mention here, but I think that's my four on our Mount Rushmore segment here. Mansell, Fort on Spotify says, Ask CVV-105, it's taken me a while to comment. I lost my best friend earlier this year. Me and him were keen wrestling fans. So sorry to hear about your loss.
Starting point is 00:51:04 I no longer have anyone to talk about regarding wrestling. I may have only just come into the CVV journey, but you've helped me through my loss. Even though I don't have a conversation with you, it's like I'm speaking with you. And it's like we're speaking right now. I love it. So thank you and keep doing what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:51:20 Martin from Dorset, England. What are three things that you're grateful for and your Mount Rushmore of surprise returns in WWE? Martin, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. Three things I'm grateful for today. I am so grateful for my wife, Rachel, and our amazing kids and their health. I am grateful that I am back. safe and sound from Nashville, and then I got this huge interview.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Like, I still can't believe it that we were able to do this interview at this person's house for almost two hours. Crazy. And I'm grateful for pizza. I had some delicious pizza yesterday. Pepperoni, because I know you were going to ask. I'm grateful for pizza. My Mount Rushmore of surprise returns in WWE.
Starting point is 00:52:21 I don't know if you'll get a return bigger than CM Punk Survivor Series 2023. Even just the way they set it up, like the show was over. They put the copyright thing on the screen, slow zoom out, and then CM Punk's music hit, cult of personality. Oh my goodness. So that's obviously got to be on there. Edge coming back Royal Rumble 2020. It just didn't seem possible. And then for that to like kickstart, it wasn't just a one-off.
Starting point is 00:52:58 For that to then kickstart Edge, like he's a wrestler now, wild. And I think the look on Edge's face says it all. Actually, there's a picture. As I record this in my office, I'm looking at it right now. Just the look on his face says it all. It's like he made the impossible possible. that night. The Hardy Boys,
Starting point is 00:53:20 WrestleMania 33. I was there. That was the loudest I have ever heard an outdoor stadium. That was absolutely unbelievable. And the fact that they
Starting point is 00:53:33 had wrestled a Ring of Honor show the day before. And it just, I don't know, it was just that all of that coming together and the fact that it was at WrestleMania.
Starting point is 00:53:44 But, What a return. And, and they won the match. In that match, it was a tag team ladder match. They won the tag team championships. So not only did they come back, but then like all like wrestle this amazing match and get the moment where they get to stand in the ring as new tag team champions. Incredible. Wow, one more now.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Because those are three, like I feel like those three are on, would be on most people's. Mount Rushmore's. Like those three are kind of locked in, at least the first two. The Hardy Boys one. Maybe I'm a little biased because I was there, but that pop is insane.
Starting point is 00:54:25 Goosebumps every time I watch it back. One more spot. This is the thing that I both love and hate about Mount Rushmore's is always coming down to that fourth spot. I think it's got to be John Cena 2008 Royal Rumble. It just seemed completely improbable.
Starting point is 00:54:45 that he would even be in the conversation. Like he was supposed to be out for, I don't know the exact number, but I think he was supposed to be out for like nine months, came back in three. And I said, how are we able to do it? And you can go back and listen to this interview that I've now referenced three times during this episode.
Starting point is 00:55:01 But if you go back, he said, well, I was told I was supposed to rehab three times a week. I rehab three times a day. And he came back and it's a incredible moment for him to be number 30. And then he ends up winning the Royal Rumble as well. What a moment. There's so many other ones, but one that does not get talked about that often, not on my Mount Rushmore, but one I just want to mention here is when Shane McMahon returned in 2016. So all the McMan's are in the ring, and then here comes the money hit. And the crowd was just like
Starting point is 00:55:35 chanting and cheering for like minutes. And you could see how emotional it made him. You could see Steph was like wiping tears away. Like it was such a cool moment. And I think it was like fans, it was the fans way of saying like, we appreciate you. Like Shane gives 110% in every match. Like you know if Shane is having a match,
Starting point is 00:56:01 especially a match at WrestleMania, something ridiculous is going to happen. So I think that's one that's just not talked about as much as it should be. An email from Raul Garcia Raoul here from Atlanta. A real, real one. Well, thank you, Raul.
Starting point is 00:56:20 Really enjoyed your conversational style of interaction with your guests, and I look forward to your Ask CVV segments every Friday. And here we are hanging out on an Ask CVV segment, Raul. Following the trend of Mount Rushmore, who's on your list of the monsters in wrestling? Who is your Mount Rushmore of Monsters? Thanks. up the great work. Back with another Mount Rushmore question.
Starting point is 00:56:51 My monster list, this is very fitting since Halloween is just two weeks away and Big Skelly is right outside my office window. Someone sent in a message and said, you should keep Big Skelly up all year. He can be like Christmas themed in December and he can be like a leprechaun in March. I kind of love that idea. Kind of love keeping Big Skelly up all year. For that, and the kids in the neighborhood just love seeing that thing. But also then I don't have to, like, take it down and then rebuild it.
Starting point is 00:57:22 I would rather just stay up there. I will say, though, it's a pain because you've got to move it. And it's not, like, it's 12 feet tall. So it's not the easiest thing to move, and you've got to obviously pull it off the grass every time you cut the grass. So I think, unfortunately, Big Scully's got to come down in a few weeks. But I love your question here. Mount Rushmore of monster characters.
Starting point is 00:57:42 there are many that we could list off here. Why do I preface every Mount Rushmore worth? All right, just so you know, there's a lot of different answers we could go with here. I will just remind you, this is my list. This is not the definitive list. This is my list. So, monsters in wrestling. Kane, for obvious reasons.
Starting point is 00:58:08 Looked like a monster, wrestled like a monster. First time Kane took off his master. mask, looked like a monster, then went into a different era in his character where he was like pretty funny, but like cane, for sure. How could you not have cane on your list? Abyss. Abyss doesn't get talked about nearly enough. And Abyss is one of the cornerstone people in TNA and one of the best wrestlers TNA has ever had. I loved Abyss in the ring. I loved the character work that Abyss did. the movement and the ability and agility that Abyss had for a big man. Love it.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Also love that jelly roll hit the black hole slam at SummerSlam. I just loved it like there was a little tip of the hat to Abyss of like, yeah, you're a legend. Bray Wyatt slash the fiend. Absolutely once in a generation performer. And it's crazy every time we talk about Bray. think that he's not with us anymore. But how can you talk about monsters in WWE without talking about Bray Wyatt? And then, of course, The Undertaker. And we don't even need to go into why the Undertaker
Starting point is 00:59:24 is on this list. It's the Undertaker. Of course, we're talking about the dead man version, not the American badass version, but Undertaker for sure. Undertaker has the ability to turn the lights on with his hands, has the ability to shoot lightning out of his hands. Has one of the the greatest entrances in WWE ever. So I think those are my four, but I think I also got to just throw in as an honorable mention here,
Starting point is 00:59:48 early mankind. Like rocking back and forth, mankind, like, seriously deranged mankind. Man, there was something so creepy. I remember I was like 13 and seeing that and being like, oh, that guy is,
Starting point is 01:00:05 uh, he's a little creepy. And like, Mick, Mick fully leaned into that, like, a lot. And that's, that's what makes the greats great. There's obviously other, like, dark characters and, like, especially this time of year, Halloween. We always, you know, they always do things with Bougyman. Love Bougieman. That's a dream guest, actually. I've been trying to find a way to get to Bougain. So if you know somebody who knows somebody and you can get me Bougieman, would absolutely
Starting point is 01:00:35 love to have Bougain on the show. Pappashango, of course. Jake the snake, a monster in a different kind of way, a monster in just like a, I'm genuinely terrified about this person, gangrel in the brood. There's so many, but I think, yeah, that's my four. Don underscore Serrano 814 on Instagram says, would you rather be able to speak and communicate with animals or be able to speak any language in the world? I always love the would you rather questions. We should throw in a would you rather every week, along with a Mal Rushmore every week. The silly or the better.
Starting point is 01:01:17 Give me some really silly would you rather. So we'll throw one in every week. I feel like we kind of already have a little bit of an ability to speak any language. Like if you use a translating app, like the translating app's so cool because you can speak into it. And then it translates it almost in real time. or you can even like hold up the camera to like words like a street sign or like a label on a package and it'll translate it as you're looking at it through your phone into whatever language you want like that's that's kind of crazy to me there was actually a moment off camera this is kind of
Starting point is 01:01:57 a fun story there was a moment off camera with yo sky where i asked her something and she was like she just looked confused and then i asked it again and she's like she couldn't quite grab what I was saying. And I was like, oh, I refraised it. And she was like, I think I know what you mean. I was like, oh, hold on. So I pulled out like the app on my phone. And I spoke it into the phone.
Starting point is 01:02:21 And then it translated in Japanese to her. And she went, oh, I get it. And like she had a moment. She was, like, one or two words in there that, like, I was pronouncing in a different way or she didn't understand. But it was so funny that, like, I saw the light bulb go on. I was like, ah. So we kind of have the ability.
Starting point is 01:02:38 to speak any language, obviously not like instantaneous, but we don't really have any ability to speak to animals. I would love to have a chat with my dog, especially after she pooped on the floor earlier today. Yeah, no, that's a real thing. She poops in the house like three times a week, three and a half times a week on average. She's an older dog.
Starting point is 01:03:04 I get it. But Luna, come on. I'd love to be able to have a conversation with her and be like, hey, hey, Luna. if you need to go out, just be like, hey, I got to go poop. And then I would take the dog out. Or like, imagine if you could like, a lot of hawks that fly around in our neighborhood. Imagine you could just be like, yo, hawk, what are you looking for?
Starting point is 01:03:25 Or I was driving in Nashville, we were driving through this one neighborhood that's kind of close to the lake there. I saw so many deer. And I rolled down the window and like there was a deer like, I don't know, less than 10 few away from the car and like frozen in its tracks. just staring at us. I was like, oh, hey, hey, buddy, how you doing? The deer's just kind of looking at you. Wouldn't it be so cool?
Starting point is 01:03:47 Although, what would a deer's voice be like? And now we've opened up a, we've opened up a can of worms here. This is getting off into a tangent. But you know how like, if you have a dog, you know what I'm talking about here. Your dog has a voice. Okay? Your dog has a voice. I don't care who you are, what kind of dog you have.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Your dog has a voice. Our dog, Luna is a Chihueney. That's right. Part weiner dog, part Chihuahua. Her voice is like, I don't know. I guess like, I kind of got to go outside. So anyway, um, anyway, could I, could I, I got to go poop right now. So that's what my dog sounds like.
Starting point is 01:04:27 So as I'm reading your question here, Don, I'm just picturing my, my dog being like, uh, it's almost time to eat dinner because, um, anyway, it's 4.30. So, um, yeah. but I would choose to speak with animals. Is it all animals? Do I get to speak to all animals? Because like I fish a decent amount. I don't fish nearly as much as I used to.
Starting point is 01:04:49 But I love bass fishing. Imagine you could like land a small mouth or a large mouth bass and be like, hey, what is that you guys are actually eating down there today? Oh, it's crayfish? Oh, perfect. Thanks for letting me know. Or, hey, what did you think of the color of this jig? Oh, you would have preferred the purple one?
Starting point is 01:05:09 Oh, great. I'll switch from black and blue to purple now. It's all animals. I'm in. I'm in on speaking with all animals. Well, that is it, my friends. That is a final question on this. Ask CVV number 101.
