Starting point is 00:00:00 Chris Happy Friday and welcome back my friend to another audio adventure here on Insight. I'm CBV. Chris Van Fleet.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Thank you for being a real one and for hanging out with me on an AskCTVV episode and thank you for making Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet. Slap a Texas clover leaf on that follow button
Starting point is 00:00:42 wherever you're listening so you don't miss out on any new interviews every Tuesday and Thursday. and of course, ask CVV every single Friday. I just got back from Houston where I was recording a few interviews there. And I also went to AEW Dynamite on Wednesday. What a show.
Starting point is 00:01:01 What a great show. What an atmosphere in there. And so cool to hang out with so many of you real, real ones who were there. Got to chat a little bit of wrestling with you. I loved it. And because I know you're going to ask, I'm happy to tell you who the interviews are with because they've been recorded. and I know that, you know, schedules aren't going to change these up and they're not going to,
Starting point is 00:01:23 you know, plans aren't going to fall through. Brian Danielson, amazing conversation with him and also Kyle Fletcher, who is definitely the next big thing in pro wrestling. Love those conversations. You'll be seeing those in the next few weeks, the next episode, which I'm pumped about on Tuesday. Mick Foley is on the show. It's my first time having a long sit down with him.
Starting point is 00:01:46 I've done shorter, you know, 10-ish minute interviews, but that was like, it was so long ago he was still in TNA the last time I talked to Mick Foley. So great conversation with Mick. Loved it. You'll see it on Tuesday. There are now only six tickets left for the show in San Diego on Friday, November 28th. Just six VIP tickets. That's it. General admission is sold out. So if you've been thinking of going to the show, now's your time because I am. Imagine by the time this weekend is over, those tickets will be completely sold out. CBVTix.com and also there's tons of tickets available for Las Vegas for the Thursday of WrestleMania week.
Starting point is 00:02:28 That show's still five months away. Isn't that crazy? WrestleMania is five months away. I feel like we just had WrestleMania 41. And now WrestleMania 42 is closer than WrestleMania 41 was. But we're back at Circa Resort and Casino, Las Vegas for that one. And grab those tickets at CVV ticks.com as well. Welcome to Ask CVV number 1-0 figure-8 leglock.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Also, Ask CVV number 108 wonder of the world. We've got a few more here. Ask CVV number 1-0 ACEs and 8s. edition. I love that. It's a big TNA fan. And Ask CVV number 108 man tag edition. If you've got a question for next week, if you've got an idea for what Ask CVV number 109 could be, the one that immediately pops into my head, of course, is the ninth one of the world, China. But if you have another idea, let me know. Leave a comment on Spotify. Thank you for all the Woo comments last week.
Starting point is 00:03:47 I think that Spotify has a 500 character max. And I'd say like 84% of you maxed out the 500 character maxed maxed out the 500 character max. It was just a 1W and 499os. Woo! I love it. But if you've got an idea for next week or a question for next week, send that in on the comments on Spotify. Shoot me an email CVV at chrisfan.com or sending it on social. media using that hashtag ask CVV.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I'd like to say I was three for four on the Saturday night's main event predictions. The only one that I got wrong was Dirty Dominic Mysterio. I love that he's hanging on to that intercontinental championship. I just had a feeling in my gut that he was, he's going to be pushed on to something else here, something bigger, better, like we talked about last week. I feel like 2026 is going to be the year of the new stars, Rom Breaker getting that next level shot.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Dirty Dom getting that next level shot. But I was right on three of the four predictions there. And I guess for all of the J. Uso haters, now the J. Uso lost that match to C.M. Punk, it feels like the prospect of him being the champ again isn't happening anytime soon. I feel like he's not in that, at least the title picture right now because C.M. Punk definitely has some interesting paths that he could go down. with this. And it really feels like, if we're talking about just gut feelings,
Starting point is 00:05:19 feels like there's going to be a program here with Logan Paul and CM Punk. And I know it is taboo to say anything positive about Logan Paul, even as a performer in the ring. But all I'm saying, maybe it's a preemptive warning, don't be surprised if Logan Paul is a WWE world champion at some point in 2026. It just feels like there's a lot of things aligning towards that. And again, I know that it's, you can't say nice things about Logan Paul even as just being a talented professional wrestler, but I'm just saying that's where it seems to be going here. We'll kick off Ask CVV number
Starting point is 00:06:05 108th Wonder of the World Edition with this email from Jesco. Hey, Chris, love the podcast. This is truly my favorite source of WWE talk. Keep it up. On to my question. Sina announced the 16-man tournament at Saturday night's main event. He said stars from Raw, Smackdown, NXT, and faces who don't even work here. How much do you think the chances of Edge being his final opponent increase or decrease? Another option, could this finally be the official edition of Joe Hendry into the WWE? Well, I feel like Joe Hendry is, I know it hasn't been officially announced, but after not seeing him for a little while and then him popping up on NXT and also not seeing him in TNA specifically, especially for their big show Bound for Glory, I feel like this is the, let's call it, soft launch of Joe Hendry in WWE. And I know we've seen him doing a lot of things in NXT, especially over the last six, seven months since WrestleMania. But yeah, I think that we'll look at. at the whole John Cena tournament as a whole, but Joe Hendry feels like, like, it's certainly a lock
Starting point is 00:07:16 for one of those 16 spots. So John Cena said when he was announcing this last time is now tournament, that there would be stars from Raw Smackdown and NXT, like you said, and also, quote, maybe even some guys who don't work here. So we've got 16 spots in the tournament, eight matches in total. And here's what's. It's been announced so far. We got Rusev versus Damian Priest and Shinske Nakamura versus Seamus. That was announced on Raw. Two more matches are going to be announced tonight on SmackDown.
Starting point is 00:07:50 So we will know after tonight eight of the competitors. So half, we'll know half of the competitors tonight. Now, in that video package, they showed several superstars, some of which I just named, we already know they're in the tournament. And some of them, I think we can assume we'll be in the tournament as well. In order, here's who we saw. Ms. Rusev, Solosicoa, Seamus, who's been announced,
Starting point is 00:08:17 L.A. Knight. Yeah. Thank you for saying yeah with me. Drew McIntyre, Penta, Carmelo Hayes, Bronson Reed, Gunther, and Dominic Mysterio. That's 12 people that they showed. It's not a guarantee just because they showed it in a video package, but they're going to be part of this tournament.
Starting point is 00:08:35 But I think they're just trying to give the overall feel of like, while there's some people that he's had some history with there, right? Like Ms. and Seamus, there's some people he's never been in the ring with before. Like L.A. Knight. L.A. Knight. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Penta. Carmelo Hayes, Bronson Reed. Goonther. Dominic Mysterio. And I think that, like, as this tournament continues to unfold, the category that we're all going to be focused on from what John Cena said is the faces that don't work here. I guess, technically. Joe Hendry doesn't work here because there hasn't been the official announcement of like
Starting point is 00:09:13 Joe Hendry is officially assigned to a WWE contract. I suppose he could fall into that category. You know who else could fall into that category and would make a ton of sense? There's a lot of history there. Matt Cardona. Matt Cardona could easily be part of this tournament. And I also feel like it would be WWE's way of being like, hey, we've seen what you've built over these last five years.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Like congratulations. you've earned this spot. You're one of 16 that could be part of this. I'd love to see it. And I think that when you talk about people who are doing it on the independent circuit right now, there's no one that is doing it at a higher level. It's no one that's more committed to it than Matt Cardona and the way that he just approaches it. I love his mindset.
Starting point is 00:09:59 I love his work ethic when it comes to that. And I think that there's like, there's just a lot of different ways that this could go. And the interesting part about this last time is now tournament is it gives us a storyline that leads up to December 13th to John Cena's final match in Washington, D.C., Saturday night's main event. Also, kind of full circle for this particular part of the John Cena storyline that he announces his tournament on Saturday night's main event, and then it will end on Saturday night's main event as well. So we know we're getting matches on raw. We know we're getting matches on SmackDown. But I can definitely see one of these matches being a Survivor Series. And the way that I would see this play out is it'd be a mystery opponent.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Like, for example, it's like, all right, one of the, one of the matches for the last time as now tournament is happening at Survivor Series in San Diego. It's the Miz versus an opponent to be named. named later. And then we have this whole buildup of like, oh, who's that mystery opponent? Whose music's going to hit? Like, Ms. is in the ring. He's doing his thing. His music stops. Long pause, kind of like the Seth Rollins pause, WrestleMania 38 before Cody Rhodes came back. Long pause. And then boom, the surprise music hits. I don't think that all of these matches are going to be announced in advance. I think it's cool that they're starting to set the table with this,
Starting point is 00:11:32 that we're starting to see, okay, we've got these, well, after tonight, these eight matches to look for these four matches, sorry, to look forward to. We'll be able to kind of count on those, but I think Survivor Series is a really good spot to see a big surprise, a big return, even. Because look, Survivor Series is known for having big surprises, big returns. In recent memory, of course, Randy Orton returned in 2023. And about an hour later, the return that broke the internet and broke a lot of our wrestling fan brains when CM Punk returned Survivor Series 2023 Chicago, Illinois. But here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:12:15 If the surprise is just the person entering the tournament and then maybe possibly being seen as last opponent if they can get through the rounds of the tournament, where's the payoff? Like if the payoff is like just being the big return to enter the tournament, I don't see that being a great setup for someone like Edge to return to WWE or for Chris Jericho, for example, to return to WWE. For them to like come in beyond being the first round tournament, first round match of this tournament, I just, I feel like there's got to be something bigger for them. And that's why I honestly, I get asked this question every single day. Do you think Edge is going to be part of this tournament or John Cena's last opponent? And honestly, as I sit here right now, I feel like the answer is no. And I will say that Adam Copeland being off AEW TV right now, whether that is intentional
Starting point is 00:13:18 or not, is brilliant because it has people talking about Adam Copeland and then subsequently talking about AEW. So I don't know if they're doing this on purpose or not, or if there's something else that's going on behind the scenes. But every time you talk about Edge, you then have to talk about AEW. It's a very smart move there. I don't know what his contract situation is. None of us do.
Starting point is 00:13:41 And that's what's so interesting about all of the different nuances and things that are going on with this John Cena retirement tour in this tournament. It's like you don't know the status of anybody else. And I also think that Chris Jericho won't be part of this because if the rumors are online, if the rumors online are accurate at all, then, and he actually didn't resign with AEW, then it doesn't sound like his contracts up until December 31st. So if we're to believe that's true, then Chris Jericho is out of the picture just by timing
Starting point is 00:14:16 alone. I also think that if slash when Jericho were to ever return to WWE, And again, this is kind of like the Adam Copeland situation. He hasn't been on TV in a while. Is that intentional or not? I don't know, but that kind of all becomes part of this conversation. But if Jericho does come back, I feel like it has to be a storyline that's focused on him, rather than just being one of the 16 people that could possibly be John Cena's last opponent.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Because if someone, let's say, like Edge or like Chris Jericho, enters into this tournament, and goes all the way even to being the in the finals, where it's him versus somebody else for the chance to face John Cena on December 13th. If they go all that way and don't win, like it just feels like it's, yeah, cool moment for the return, but where's the payoff?
Starting point is 00:15:11 They end up losing three matches in if they're to make their way all to the, all the way to the finals of the tournament. I just, I just feel like if you read between the lines here of what John Cena was saying when he announced this tournament, it feels like his final opponent is going to be a younger wrestler.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Kind of like how John Cena's debut in 2002 was against the veteran Kurt Angle. Because in this announcement video, Sina says, quote, on my last day, I want to face whoever is willing to step up and seize the same kind of opportunity I was giving on my first day.
Starting point is 00:15:52 That doesn't sound me like someone who's going to face an old rival. We've seen a lot of that during his retirement tour. I think that what's happening here is he wants to give a big opportunity to someone that he hasn't worked with before, a chance to give their career a huge boost with a win over the man that WWE has been calling the greatest of all time. But I'm really excited to see how this all unfolds. How many surprises can we get? Who are the people who don't work here? There's got to be at least one. And then who are the NXT names? Who are the NXT people that are going to be in there? I've seen a lot of people say, is it going to be Jeff Hardy? I mean, that could make sense.
Starting point is 00:16:34 There's some history there. I would love to see that. And I would, I love the Hardy Boys theme song so much. Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, Dan, you know, I'm dancing as I'm singing that. I just feel like the Hardy Boys aren't in that phase of their career right now where they're doing a lot of single stuff. Like they are this package deal right now tearing it up as one of the greatest tag teams of all time, tearing it up in NXT, tearing it up at House of Glory, tearing it up in NXT, TNA, all of it. And I just don't think that, I'm not saying it's not possible, but I just feel like they're not in the phase of their career where we're going to get these one-off, singles runs. I feel like they are most definitely doing things as a tag team. And if you listen back to my interview with Matt Hardy from earlier this year, a big focus on what they're doing right
Starting point is 00:17:30 now is getting in there with younger talent and helping the younger talent to move on to that next level two. I'm just excited. And I know we're going to be talking about this for the next five weeks. And that's what's so cool about this. Like I think that this is the most brilliant way that they could have booked this. Instead of just throwing a random opponent and saying, all right, it's John Sina versus whoever the person may be. We get to like be invested in the week to week show to show of this of like, oh, okay, well, let's look at the brackets now. Okay. So, hmm, Rusev and Damien Priest. Rusev won that match. Okay. So now he's going to face the winner of Shinske and Seamus, whatever the case may be. And I think that's such a cool part of this. So I can't wait. If I
Starting point is 00:18:19 to guess right now as we sit here. Two names immediately popped to mine. I think it's either going to be Gunther or it's going to be Dominic Mysterio. I think that it's one or two of those that's going to be John Cena's final opponent. And if I had to guess right now, and I don't want this to be the answer that you hold me to, this is just the answer on Friday, November 7th, as you listen to this right now. I think it's dirty Dom. And I think that, like, Gunther's already been there. He's, he's already held the championships. He's already, he's already done it. He's already climbed the mountain. Dom's on his way up. And I feel like if we are truly to read between the lines here, and John Cena is going to have someone seize that same opportunity, like he said, I think it's
Starting point is 00:19:13 Dirty Dumb. And man, what a fun match that's going to be. This episode is brought to you by prize picks. Email from Lee Fong, who says, Hey Chris, this is Lee from Minnesota, huge fan. My question for this week is, what do you think they're doing with Dirty Dom and Ray? What I'm hoping is maybe it's a buildup for career versus chant match, maybe at WrestleMania. Anyway, I'm just here to enjoy the ride and whatever WWE gives us. Thanks, Lee.
Starting point is 00:22:06 That segment on Raw was fun. That segment on Raw was so much fun with Dominic Mysterious. you're talking about how he's the greatest luchador of all time. And then Ray's music hits. Love that. Love that we, Ray is back. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:22:24 And then Ray asks Dom, do you really think you're better than Eddie Guerrero? The crowd, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. And Dominic, you keep my father's name out of your mouth. Oh!
Starting point is 00:22:38 How can you not love dirty Dom? So good. So Ray Mysterio has not worked a match since the Smackdown before WrestleMania when he got injured. And that injury caused him to pull out of his match, which was going to happen the next day, WrestleMania night one against El Grande Americano. The slightly stockier, shorter El Grande Americano that some people seem to think share similar tattoos to Chad Gable. But I think that's ridiculous. We've never, I don't, I don't buy it at all.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Of course, Ray ended up getting replaced by Ray Phoenix, amazing match that night, but Ray hasn't wrestled since then. So Ray hasn't wrestled in almost seven months. It feels like, if I was in control here, it feels like this writes itself. Dom versus Ray, where Survivor Series? Survivor Series is in the 619. Survivor Series is in San Diego. It makes perfect sense to have the match there.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I'm assuming this would be the first of two, three, maybe more matches that they would have together. And whenever that Ray Mysterio retirement match ends up happening, you can bet that it's going to be against Dominic Mysterio. In fact, I thought that when they wrestled at WrestleMania 39 in L.A., I thought it was like going to quietly be Ray's last match. I'm super grateful and happy that it wasn't. But like it just felt like with the storyline that they had built there and Dom turning on his dad and like Ray finally taking it to his son, it just felt like there was a lot there
Starting point is 00:24:25 that would have made that make sense. There's even more to the story now, two plus years later. So maybe that leads to a WrestleMania match this year. And I think that if Ray is finally, going to call it a career and finally going to retire soon. I think they haven't announced it yet because of the focus right now on John Cena retiring. And then also the focus on A.J. Stiles saying that 2026 is going to be his last year. So I think that it's just like, let's just let them have their time right now, especially John Sina. There's, man, like barely a month left of John Sina's
Starting point is 00:25:05 career, which is crazy. It's obvious. Ray Mysterio doesn't have that many more years left. Is it one? Is it two? Is it five? I guess we'll see. But on December 11th, that's Ray's birthday, he turns 51. So it doesn't feel to me like he's lost a step. And I love watching Ray perform. And I love that he's in the stage of his career now, where he can do anything. Like he could, he could wrestle anybody and you're going to be like, it's Ray Mysterio. This is awesome. But yes, I think that it eventually leads to a retirement match for Ray, but you're right, something else has got to be on the line.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Is it career versus hair? It could be interesting. Is it career versus title? Does Dominic Mysterio have the world title by then? Does he still have the Intercontinental Championship? probably not. Does he still have the AAA championship? Maybe. There's a lot of different things that this could be. And I love it. Dirty Dom is just every single week getting more and more entertaining. I know he's supposed to be a heel, but how can you boo that guy?
Starting point is 00:26:25 How can you boo Dominic Mysterio? Tim Henderson on Facebook says, yo, CVV. After what we saw on Rod, does this mean that Logan Paul is now officially part of the vision? I actually don't think the answer to that is yes. I think that he is like this de facto member of the vision as we head into Survivor Series war games. I think what we're going to get and kind of feels like the pieces are starting to fall into place for this, feels like we're going to get the vision versus this latest iteration of the bloodline plus a few friends. So that would be like the vision against Roman, Jimmy Jay and I don't know, let's say like CM Punk and LA night. Like that's how it feels now with a few weeks to go. And then on the women's side, I'm thinking we're going to get Becky Lynch,
Starting point is 00:27:22 team Becky Lynch versus team AJ Lee. So like team heels versus team faces. So if I were to just brainstorm here and spitball some ideas with you. Maybe we get Becky Lynch, Oscar, Kyrie sane, Raquel, and Roxanne as the heels. And then the faces would be A.J. Lee, Charlotte and Alexa, E.O. And then a returning Ria Ripley from her nose injury. I feel like that's how it shakes out. But I just, I think that the mistake that has been made over the past several years, has been like not giving us enough reason to be invested in these war games matches. Like too often, even with just the, what I was just putting together there, you're going like, well, Charlene Alexa kind of have this thing with the Kabuki Warriors.
Starting point is 00:28:15 So like, okay, that's cool. There's a story for four of the 10 people in that match. It's like, I want something like, and it doesn't happen that often. And I get it for 10 people to come together, five versus five. to have one big storyline. It made sense when it was New Bloodline versus Old Bloodline. I just feel like this is my problem
Starting point is 00:28:37 with Survivor Series war games just in general of like, we need a story that like has us invested rather than just like, oh, they're wrestling in this big cage. So like some cool stuff could happen here. But to answer your question here, I don't know if Logan Paul is part of the vision
Starting point is 00:28:57 moving forward or if this is just a thing that we have right now to get us to Survivor Series and then figure things out from there. But like I was talking about, if we are going to see Logan Paul versus CM Punk, this could be a good place to start to tee those things up for that. Brian Hunt, New Dad 1113 on Instagram. And if you're still a new dad, Brian, congratulations. Okay, CVV, think about this. When Chad Gable gets back, have him and Ilya Dragonov do a best of seven series and eventually become a tag team like the bar. And the Matt tag team could be called collusion. That's a pretty good idea.
Starting point is 00:29:44 And you put a bunch of laughing faces there, so I don't know how serious you are. But Chad Gable is probably due to come back soon-ish. He's been out since July with that rotator cuff surgery. They never gave us an update or a timeline on how long and Chad Gable. would be out. So it would be foolish of me to throw out dates and times and numbers like I'm some sort of a physician in which I'm very clearly not. So I don't know. Is it Royal Rumble? That'd be a fun return. Certainly be a fun return if Al Grande Americana was standing in the ring. But Chad Gable has beef with Penta. Penta's the one who injured him. And Chad and Penta have some real history there.
Starting point is 00:30:26 the shorter, stalkier version of El Grande Americano that may or may not share similar tattoos to Chad Gable, he may have issues. That El Grande-Americano may have issues with this slightly taller, leaner version of El Grande-A-Miricano. I think we can also see how fun would this be. If El Grasne-Americano, with the new entrance theme, enters the Royal Rumble, and then, And maybe the next entrant, maybe a few entrants later, the shorter, stockier El Gronde-Americano that may or may not share the same tattoos of Chad Gable enters with the old El Grande-Americanano theme. And we get another version of the Spider-Man meme. I think that there's, this is what's so cool is I think that this progresses. I think that this continues. I don't think that Chad Gable
Starting point is 00:31:19 comes back and we completely forget about the El Gronde-Americanano storyline that was tied to him. I think that Chad Gable will continue to move forward with both Chad Gable storylines and El Grande Americano storylines. But I just love your idea here of Chad Gable, Ilya Dragonov. Give us a best of seven for the United States championship. It is about time that Chad Gable wins a singles championship. I know it was his goal for this year. He told that to me in January when I talked to him.
Starting point is 00:31:56 at the very first raw Netflix premiere. And obviously he's been sidelined for half this year with that injury. His goal for sure will carry over to 2026. It's about time. Chad Gable wins a singles championship. How good would a best of seven matchup be with Ilya Drag enough? How good we just, even if they're not going to give us best of seven, how good we just a matchup B?
Starting point is 00:32:22 Sign me up for that. Injected into my veins. it. Ricky Solis on Spotify says, for Ask CVV number one, oh, eighth wonder of the world edition. Some of the great storylines of the years gone by have included villainous power, mad authority figures.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Do you think one of the GMs should turn heel? Both Adam Pierce and Nick Aldous have been pushed to the edge over the last few months. Is it time for one of them to rule with more of an ironed fist? Well, Ricky, I think it goes without saying, that this is the best duo of GMs that we've ever had. I know that they're like, Teddy Long will be the gold standard, especially for SmackDown GMs,
Starting point is 00:33:06 but like to have such a great GM on SmackDown and such a great GM on Rob, both of them just nailing their characters so well, playing that role so well, it's working really well. And I don't think that they should change anything up while it's still working, right? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But what's been great about Nick Aldous and Adam Pierce is they've always been fair. They've always been the voice of reason. They've always been like kind of stating the obvious.
Starting point is 00:33:36 The fans see like, oh, yeah, well, that person is mad with this person. And then the GM comes out and goes, okay, here's the deal. This match is official. I like it. Had Adam Pierce on the show last year really enjoyed that conversation. Go back and check it out from last July, I believe. If you haven't listened to it yet, or if you have listened to it, it definitely worth a re-listen. Like the way he thinks about wrestling in general. I love it so much. But he talked about
Starting point is 00:34:03 how the GM is essentially the narrator of the show. And I've never thought about it like that. But that description is so fitting because that's exactly what a wrestling GM does. They're kind of guiding you along like, okay, so the next match of the night is going to be this one. And because this person and this person have beef together, well, that's the next match. And the next match they're going to have a match at Survivor Series. Like, that's, I never thought about it like that, but he's so right. They're the narrator of the show. And I think that oftentimes when you get a Heal GM, they end up doing like nefarious things
Starting point is 00:34:41 and they end up screwing over the baby faces. And I think that that would completely take away from just how smoothly things have run. And again, how fair both of them have been. because if you have a heel GM who's going to be screwing over baby faces, it just, I don't think that that can last for very long. I think that it ends up making the heels look really good. And I guess in turn, as I'm saying this out loud, I'm thinking about it, it can also make the baby faces look better because they're now fighting from behind. The odds are stacked up against them because this evil, terrible GM is really messing with things. But I think that things are working so well.
Starting point is 00:35:22 right now. And again, I've said this plenty of times before I said it in the interview with Mickey James. Give us a Nick Aldous match against anyone. Against anyone. I know that he was like one of the rumored people that Randy Orton might have faced for his mystery match at WrestleMania. Joe Henry was a lovely surprise. But Nick Aldous can still go. Give us a Nick Aldous match. I don't care how it comes together. If Nick Alders has to turn it. heal and become a heal GM for this to happen, I'll accept that. I'll be okay with that. But I think that things are working really well right now and like, I wouldn't change that up at all. Marcel Boudon emailed this one in. Woo is the title of this email. Love the podcast.
Starting point is 00:36:13 In sports, there are some records that will just not be beat ever. Look at Cal Ripkin's Iron Man streak or Wayne Gratzky's career points total. What do you think would be the wrestling equivalent? I think there's a few. I think that one that will certainly never, ever get broken just because of the era that we are in right now with WWE is Bruno San Martino's record as the longest reigning WWE champion. 2,803 days.
Starting point is 00:36:45 It lasted from May 17, 1963, to January 18, 1916. 74. So almost eight years, a completely different era. I get it. And Romans run 1,316 days, like was long. It wasn't even half of what Bruno's run was. So I think that that's one that just because of the time, because of the era, we're not going to see that one broken ever again. I can't imagine they're being the same champion for almost eight years. Another really obvious one is The Undertaker's streak. For a lot of different reasons, one of them just being like how kind of sacred that is and how that became one of the defining things of the Undertaker's career, 21 and 0,
Starting point is 00:37:38 that huge loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30, 21 and 1. put the one in 21 and 21 and one. I think that that's one just because it's so closely tied to the Undertaker that I don't think that's one that they would even come close to doing again. Because think about this, if someone, whoever it was would be a veteran, started to have a streak where like we started to notice, oh, they've won at seven in a row, they've won at eight in a row, they've won at 14 in a row. Then I just think that the conversation stops being about that person and just then starts being part of like the conversation then is just tied to the undertaker. Are they going to beat the streak?
Starting point is 00:38:20 I don't think that we are ever going to see a WrestleMania streak ever again. And then another one. And this is one you may or may not agree with me on. I don't think John Cena's never seen 17 will get broken anytime soon. Because as WWE continues to call him the greatest of all time, as WWE is giving him this 12-month-long farewell tour, John Cena is such an important part of the modern era of WWE. Call it the like post-attitude era era,
Starting point is 00:38:55 the post-attitude era era of WWE. John Cena has been a huge component of that. He's been the face of the last at least 20-ish years. And I don't think that they're going to have someone come in certainly no time soon to break that record. The closest person, of course, would be Randy Orton. Randy has 14. I could definitely see Randy winning 15 before he retires, maybe even 16. I could see Randy winning 15 at some point in the next year. I just feel like Randy could beat Cody for that. I think that we're going to see a really fun storyline that has been teased a lot.
Starting point is 00:39:41 I think it's going to finally start to play out between Randy and Cody. But I think that John Sina being that 17-time champion, breaking that record that John or that Rick Flair held for so long. And that was so much a part of like when you thought about Rick Flair, you thought about the number 16. I think that we're going to do that same thing with John Sina when he's retired. Never seen 17 is a brilliant way of like reinforcing it in our brains. It rhymes.
Starting point is 00:40:10 It's such a cool way of saying it. but those are three that I definitely think, especially the Bruno one and the Undertaker one, those are, I don't think we're, those are going to be touched at all. Sam P.C. on Spotify says, Hi, CVV. I'm a recent fan of your show and loving the podcast so far.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Keep up the great work. Well, thank you, Sam. I would like to know, what are your favorite, more unique weapon uses are? Of course, we all love tables and chairs, but what about things like Dom, using the hammer in the boot recently or el grande using the steel plate in the mask. I would love to know your thoughts from Worcester, UK. I've always been a big fan of Triple H in the use
Starting point is 00:40:57 of the sledgehammer. And even though this isn't a weapon, I think that Triple H's second favorite, I guess call it weapon for lack of a better term, is how much Triple H used his knee. Like think back to like the high knee, he would drop people on his knee. I think that that is like a very underrated part of his repertoire. But the sledgehammer. And there's something about a sledgehammer because it's like something that we've all held, we've all seen. You may have one in your house.
Starting point is 00:41:31 You may not. But like, you're aware of a sledgehammer. You know the weight of it. You know the feel of it. So like I think that that's, that's another like cerebral layer to this. And along those same lines, Kyle Fletcher at his use of the screwdriver, he used it in the cage match against Will Osprey, like jabbing him in the head with the screwdriver. He also, when he won the TNT championship from Dustin Rhodes, he, it's pretty gross, but he jabbed the screwdriver into Dustin Rhodes knee. And when I was asking Kyle about this in the interview that we just recorded the other day, he was saying, the thing I like about the screwdriver,
Starting point is 00:42:11 screwdriver is like everyone's held a screwdriver. Like you're like you can hold it in your hand and be like, oh yeah, wow. Like to jab that in someone's knee or like jab that in someone's skull, like you can definitely feel what that might feel like. So I love that idea. And then also I think one that like kind of flies under the radar quite a bit is Logan Paul's titanium reinforced hand. And Michael Cole does such a great job of.
Starting point is 00:42:41 selling this because like it just looks like a punch if if you're just looking at it it just seems like it's a punch but michael cole reminding you that like logan paul broke his hand and now it's reinforced with titanium so it's not just a punch now he's punching you it's almost like he's using a foreign object because it's a titanium reinforced hand and i just think that that's really good commentating and also like really good storytelling of taking a real life thing and working it into this WWE world. But Dom and the hammer on the boot, very good. El Grande shoving the steel plate up into his mask.
Starting point is 00:43:22 I love it. I also love the when heels like, like pull the, pull a foreign object out of their trunks and then like, we'll throw it to their tag team partner or manager or throw it under the ring to get rid of it. I think heel work is, it's a masterpiece to watch. great heel work. And I love that kind of stuff of like, the ref's not looking.
Starting point is 00:43:45 I'm going to do this thing. Like a perfect example is Eddie Guerrero fake chair shot is it's just so well done. Like it's so well done that we all know it is the Eddie Guerrero chair spot. Like distract the ref, pretend to hit yourself,
Starting point is 00:44:03 throw the chair to the opponent, fall down. So good. Email from Y, Ryerson. Hi, Chris, long-time fan from back in the good old days of YouTube. Wow, before the podcast even started. I love that. You're an absolute legend, my man, and your podcast has done wonders for my work week and helping me to stay positive and boost my entire mental health so much. This is a two-part deal because I have an idea for the 108 edition of the show and also a question. So for the title of the show, I think it should be the AskCV-108-time Intercontinental
Starting point is 00:44:40 champion the Miz edition. I do love that because when I think of the intercontinental champion in like modern time, I think of how great the Miz is as the intercontinental champion. As for my question, I want to keep up with the Mount Rushmore trend. Oh, here we go. We love a good Mount Rushmore question. It just wouldn't be an Ask CVV without at least, at least two Mount Rushmore questions. Who is your Mount Rushmore? of either NWA TNA slash TNA slash impact world champions. So you're including the entire lineage here. I like that.
Starting point is 00:45:22 I was a huge TNA fan back in the day, and I'm still watching them and rooting them on today. So I'd love to hear your answer. From a real, oh, it's damn real one, your friend from Montana, love everything that you do, man. And thank you for being you, Wyatt. Well, thank you so much, Wyatt.
Starting point is 00:45:39 All right. No TNA Mount Rushmore works unless AJ Stiles is on it. It doesn't even matter what the TNA category is. AJ Styles needs to be on the Mount Rushmore unless, of course, we're talking about a Mount Rushmore of TNA knockouts. So AJ Stiles, boom. Samoa Joe, man, and AJ and Samoa and the matches that they had together, incredible.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Kurt Angle. And Kurt Angle has said this many times before. He said it on my show. His best matches were in TNA. And he's like, it kind of sucks because not as many people saw them there. But when you look at that version, the wrestling machine version of Kurt Engel and TNA from, I guess like the later 2000s, like, oh, 6 to 2010, man. So, so good.
Starting point is 00:46:38 And he's a big part of like, I'll call it the golden years of TNA and like that amazing rise that they had. And then we're down on the fourth spot. And we can only name one more person. If we're taking in all of the factors here about what would be my personal Mount Rushmore of TNA slash impact champions, I'm going to give that fourth spot to Bobby Rude. The longest reigning TNA World Champion ever, 256 days. And he's it factor gimmick was so good.
Starting point is 00:47:18 And you can't think of Bobby Rood and the it factor without thinking about that beautiful TNA World Championship on his shoulder. And Bobby Rood was like the first real true main event heel that was home. grown TNA success story after AJ Stiles and Joe. Like he carried the show week to week with great promos, incredible in-ring consistency. And like also made this amazing transition from being part of one of the best TNA tag teams ever, beer money, into like one of the most dominant TNA single stars ever. And I don't think that Bobby Rood is given his flowers enough.
Starting point is 00:48:01 So I would like to give Bobby Rood his flowers right now and place him on this Mount Rushmore in this very well-deserving spot. Bobby Rood, TNA, amazing. Email from Ben, what's up, CVV? What is your Mount Rushmore of Mount Rushmore questions? Just kidding. My actual, that is a good question, though. That might be the Mount Rushmore, Mount Rushmore questions. my actual question is what idea or concept does WWE no longer use that you wish they would bring back?
Starting point is 00:48:36 For me, it's Taboo Tuesday slash Cyber Sunday. It seems like a no-brainer with the power of modern social media and how much the fan base would be able to interact. Stay gold, Ben. I'm actually shocked that they haven't done something like a Taboo Tuesday or Cyber Sunday. Call it, whatever you want to call it, give it a new modern name. but like we all would understand what the idea is, but something where, at least in concept, maybe it's not in reality,
Starting point is 00:49:05 but at least in concept the fans have a say. And I don't know how much of the Tibu Tuesday or Cyber Sunday matches were pre-written out before or like how many of them were actually like, let's look at the poll results and we'll go with that. But when Kelly Kelly was on the show, she talked about when she won her Divas championship from Rebella.
Starting point is 00:49:27 it was a power to the people episode of Ross. So the same kind of idea here. She said they actually didn't know who was going to win. So it was Kelly Kelly. I can't remember who the other two were in the pole or three were in the pole. But Brie Bella had to learn all of the matches. And whoever won the poll was going to win the Divas championship. So Brie Bella had to figure out what the match was with every single potential opponent.
Starting point is 00:49:54 She had to remember all those matches. The poll results were read live on the air and Kelly Kelly like you see a legitimate real reaction from her. And then her music hits, she goes out and has the match. And I love that that's like that was a real thing that like they didn't even know. I think it could be an easy one-off thing you could do. It doesn't even have to be a pay-per-view. It doesn't even have to be a special event. It could be a one-off fun thing that you do.
Starting point is 00:50:25 like we were talking about GMs earlier. Nick Aldous or Adam Pierce could be like, hey look, for example, Logan Paul, you love social media so much, well, here's what we're going to do. We're going to leave it up to all of the people on social media to decide who your next opponent is or to decide what the stipulation for your next match is going to be
Starting point is 00:50:46 or whatever the case may be. I think that that could be a really fun way to work this back in and shocked. Shocked that they haven't done this. more, like, especially with the idea that the screen that we all watch more than anything else, it's not our TV, it's on our tablet, it's on our laptop. It's the screen that's in our pocket. That is the screen that all of us are looking at more than anything else. So if we have that screen in our hand, a lot of times while we're watching Raw or Dynamite or Smackdown or
Starting point is 00:51:18 anything on TV that may not even be wrestling related, easy for them to have you, just go over to Instagram or go to the WWE website or go over to X or whatever the case may be, however they set this up, go on there and vote for a stipulation or an opponent or whatever it could be. And I think that that'd be a really good way of involving fans even more. I guess you'd have to figure out if that's going to be K-Fabe or not, if they're just going to decide the storylines in advance or not or actually give the power to the people like they did with that Kelly Kelly match, but it'd be cool. And another concept that it, since we're talking about concepts, I don't, I don't love war games.
Starting point is 00:52:03 I would love the traditional Survivor Series pay-per-view to come back. Please, that'd be so great. And also, I want to see the traditional king and queen of the ring as a full pay-per-view. Like a one-night tournament, like think about Brett Hart winning in 93 or Austin winning in 96 and it's like the endurance of like going through this fighting multiple times in one night and like you've got momentum and everything coming along with that just make it a you can do this as a if they're going to make a lot of two night paper views this is perfect this is put this all together make it like wwe's version of the g1 climax and just like give us the the whole thing rather
Starting point is 00:52:48 than just like well you saw these matches or maybe you didn't on rar or smackdown and here we're into the finals. I just think you could get a nice through line throughout the night. I understand that there's the idea that if someone's working multiple matches in a night, that injuries could happen here. I see that as being a liability there, but that aside, I just think it makes for a much more entertaining PLE just as a whole. Lee Wayne, Lee Wainwright on Instagram says, Ask CDV number 108th wonder of the world.
Starting point is 00:53:28 I love that. I love how many of you guys were thinking about this. Hey, Chris, I would love listening to your podcast whilst taking my two Daxons on long walks. I'm a real, real one for sure. My question is, if you are offered an hour and a half sit down with the rock, where no subject is off limits, but in return, you can never eat pizza ever again. Would you take
Starting point is 00:53:59 the interview? Keep doing what you're doing, brother. You, sir, are the chairman of the Gratitude Era. Lee from Staffordshire. Staffordshire. Did I say that right? I hope so. UK. Well, first of all, I have a part weiner dog, part chihuahua, so I'm with you on the long while. dog doesn't really like long walks. I love Luna, but Luna loves blankets more than anything. She's kind of more like a cat than a dog. So the rock is at the top of my list of like people I want to have the long sit down with. I would also like to have Sting on the show. I would also like to have Randy Orton on the show. I'm working very hard to try to make those happen. Cross your fingers with me. But I'd love to have The Rock in the show. I tried really.
Starting point is 00:54:47 really, really hard when the smashing machine was coming out. Tried really hard. I was talking to the studio A24 for months, trying to make this happen. Then when I saw The Rock at the after party for the smashing machine, I was like, hey, I would love to do a real sit-down interview with you and talk all about wrestling. And he's like, oh, come on, man, we've known each other for too long. You wouldn't want to do that. And I'm like, no, I really want to do that.
Starting point is 00:55:15 He was just joking with me. The Rock is one I need to do. And also, when was the last time The Rock spoke at length about his wrestling career? He's talked a lot about his life. He's talked a lot about his film career. He's talked a lot about the different businesses that he's part of. He was on a health podcast recently talking about his health journey. But when has he done a deep dive into his wrestling career?
Starting point is 00:55:42 And there's one question that I want to really ask him. WrestleMania 18. You know that's my favorite match. I was there. I talk about this probably every day. And I know it's probably getting exhausting for you to always hear me talk about it. But when he gives the people's elbow to Hulk Hogan, it's one of the few times that he puts his back to the camera.
Starting point is 00:56:07 And one of the big things in wrestling is to always be aware of the hard cam, the main camera, the main wide shot camera they call the hard cam. he puts his back to the hard cam does the people's elbow throws his elbow pad like into the crowd there like the opposite of how he's almost always done it and i want to know the reason why was it just a mistake did he like come up i think it was a i think it's a spine buster he pops up from that and gives the people's elbow was it a mistake or was was there more to this i want to know the answer to that and i feel like i've i'm sure there's got to be a great story but to never eat pizza ever again?
Starting point is 00:56:50 I mean, Lee, come on. Could I still eat flatbreads? Like, could I go to a restaurant and they've got like a buffalo chicken flatbread or a pepperoni flatbread? Could I still eat flatbreads? Because if that's the case, yeah, I'll swear off pizza
Starting point is 00:57:03 if I can get this hour and a half long interview with The Rock. If I can still eat flatbreads. Can I still like, could I like take a tortilla, put like red sauce on it, melt some cheese, and then dot, like, dot like some pepperonies on top of it. I sound like an addict now. Trying to find ways to like figure this out.
Starting point is 00:57:25 Could I, could I like, could I just scrape the toppings? Like could I order a slice of pizza? Like a great New York slice of pizza. Scrap the toppings into a plate and then cut the crust up into little bits and then eat it like that? I don't know. That, that one probably not. Flatbreads, though, I can do it.
Starting point is 00:57:45 But no, I love pizza so much, like so so much. I'm thinking about it right now. We're going to, it's Friday. I think about pizza a lot on Fridays. We're going to take my daughter to this cool mini-pop place close to us that has a huge castle that she loves. She calls it a sand castle. Can we go see the sand castle?
Starting point is 00:58:08 Inside is this amazing arcade. And they've got one of the claw machines where you win a duck every time. Everyone's a winner. then we have a lot of ducks right now. A lot of ducks in the playroom slash living room. We don't have a playroom. We just have everything in one spot
Starting point is 00:58:24 right by the kitchen. A lot of ducks in the bath as well. But right across from there is my favorite pizza in California. BreweryX. And I'm already thinking about, all right, well, if we're going to take, if we're going to take Logan and Cooper
Starting point is 00:58:39 to the arcade, and we don't even, other than the claw machine, they just like push the buttons. They don't know what's going on. It's the best free entertainment ever. It's push the buttons, play with the little joystick things. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:58:51 And we spend like $2 in the claw machine for some ducks. The best. If you haven't thought about this and you have young children, I can't recommend it enough. Go to an arcade and don't spend any money. They'll just have the time of their life just like pushing buttons and playing with joysticks. But I'm already thinking about the brewery X pizza.
Starting point is 00:59:10 I'll go with The Rock interview, though, because that's how much I can't wait to one day sit down with a Rock for an interview like that. One Shot's World on Spotify says, the IWC is corny. They love to pump up certain guys and as soon as they get big, they tear them down. And I want to point this out because it reminded me of a quote from Chris Williamson that I think is so fitting for what you're talking about here. And the quote is, when you're on your way up, everyone roots for you because you remind them of their dreams. When you're at the top, everyone tears you down because you remind them of what they gave up on. And I'm not saying that that's necessarily the case here in WWE,
Starting point is 00:59:59 but it's a really interesting concept that you're the underdog until you're not. People were rooting on Cody and then not long after won the championship at WrestleMania 40, oh man, I'm sick of him. this is so boring, man, Cody's so vanilla and boring. I'm still entertained by Cody. And I love that every time he gets into the ring, he goes all out. And I love, you can tell how much thought he puts into his promos and how much passion there is there. That's just an example. Cody's just one example. But that is an interesting idea. And this is not just a wrestling thing either. This is a pop culture thing. This is a sports thing of like building up certain people. and then when they get to that spot, the spot that you were hoping they would get into,
Starting point is 01:00:46 you find some reason to not like them. That's not always the case. I'm sure that there are many people you can think of, especially in wrestling, that you are ride or die for. Like you've been a fan of theirs since they were when they were coming up. You're a fan of theirs when they were on top. You're still a fan of theirs as they're like figuring things out now. But I just thought that that was an interesting thing.
Starting point is 01:01:08 When you're on your way up, everyone roots for you because you remind them of their dreams. When you're at the top, everyone tears you down because you remind them of what they gave up on. David Reuter. Reuter. Ruter on Facebook. Yo, CVV, real, real one here. You brought up Chris Benoit on your last Asked CVV. I was just curious, what is your favorite Chris Benoit match? Mine is WrestleMania 20. It's a great match. Triple threat. Benoit, Triple-H, Sean Michaels. Benoit won the world championship. It's a great moment. moment. And look, I think it goes without saying when you talk about Chris Benoit, but I feel like I need to say it anyway. Very obviously, I do not condone what Chris Benoit did. I am speaking simply about the
Starting point is 01:01:59 in-ring performer and the matches that he had. And I was surprised last week by there were a few comments that were upset that I like the cross face, the crippler cross face. It's a fantastic submission. Also been used by Daniel Bryan, Kenta, Edge, Mercedes-Monnais, even Triple H used it on a few occasions. So we're just talking about Chris Benoit, the wrestler, and we are certainly not talking about the absolutely disgusting, unforgivable things that he did to his family. Awful. But if we're talking about Chris Benoit matches, my favorite Chris Benoit match was a year prior
Starting point is 01:02:35 to the one that you're talking about at Russell Made at 20. It was him versus Kurt Engel at Royal Rumble 2003, the intensity. in this match is just unparalleled. And Kurt Engle talked about how, like, he's glad that he can speak about just the matches that he had. He was told for so long he couldn't even, like, mention his matches against Chris Benoit.
Starting point is 01:02:57 Kind of like what I was just referring to here, like talking about him just as a wrestler. But he said that wrestling, Chris Benoit was like, wrestling like a cloned version of himself, like someone who just matched his intensity in the ring. If you haven't gone back and watched that match, recently or if you haven't watched it at all. Royal Rumble 2003. Angle Benoit. Man, what a match. Jasmine Fagan says, hi, CVV. Thanks for being one of the few shows I can comfortably listen to in the
Starting point is 01:03:31 car while faring around my gorgeous three-year-old Sonny and his five-year-old brother, Rafferty. As you know, toddlers are little sponges and Sonny loves to sing your intro song, Sunny. That's awesome. It's inside with Chris Van Bleet. As for my question, as a father yourself, what wrestler slash character traits do you see in your children? If I had to characterize my own, my eldest has that intellectual underdog energy of Daniel Bryan, and my youngest comes across as effortlessly cool and joyful like Kofi Kingston. What do you see Logan and Cooper being most like? Lots of love from Jasmine from Buckinghamshire, England. I've never thought about it in this way.
Starting point is 01:04:15 And it's going to be tough since Cooper's 10 months old. But he's so excited. And also, like, he's just so chill. Like, he's always smiling. He's just always having a good time. I feel like he's very curious. Kind of reminds me a little bit of, like, like, DDP's character. Like, very happy, very positive, trying to, like, very curious.
Starting point is 01:04:37 DDP's always, like, thinking about. like learning about new things. I guess if I'm to assign a wrestling character to my 10-month-old, 10-and-a-half-month-old son, I like the positivity of DDP and the curiousness of him. Logan, on the other hand, is wild, like this frenetic energy. Like, she is all over the place. She's two and a half. I feel like this is just like what a toddler's like. but she's more like it's like the ultimate warrior from like running into a room and like jumping up on things and like asking for hugs and like just a lot of energy like I feel like toddler energy in general is a mix between the ultimate warrior and macho man Randy Savage just a lot of like
Starting point is 01:05:25 a lot of just moving around and energy and stuff like that I feel like I need to think about this a little more, though, especially as they start to, like, really develop their personalities. And, like, my daughter's also hilarious. She, we told a joke, like, once, months ago. And now she tells it all the time. What's something everybody gets on their birthday? A year older. And she tells this joke to us all the time.
Starting point is 01:05:59 She doesn't pause for the punchline. I think we've got to work on that. but she's also really funny. So maybe, I don't know, a little Booker T in there as well. He was hilarious, a little R-Truth, hilarious. A little Santino Morella.
Starting point is 01:06:13 Also hilarious? I don't know. This is always going to be the back of my mind, Jasmine, as I continue to think about my kids and playing with them. What a fun question.
Starting point is 01:06:25 What a fun episode. That, my friends, was the last question on this. Ask CVV number one. 108 Wonder of the World Edition, 10 figure 8 leglock edition, 10 Oases and 8's edition, and 108 man tag edition.

Starting point is 01:07:47 How did they go from top of the rock? I'm looking for a music video. They're a band from 1987. Hammer Alley. Ever heard of them? To Rock Bottom. Dude, I was born in 1987. I can't believe he's doing this.
