Chris.
Oh my goodness.
Welcome back to another audio adventure here on Insight.
I'm CVV.
Chris Van Fleet.
Thank you for hitting play and for hanging out with me on a Friday for an AskCV episode.
And thank you for making Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet.
Hit a stone cold stutter on that follow button wherever you're listening right now.
And wow.
Thank you to everyone who tagged me in your Spotify wrapped.
posts. It's insane that so many of you have Insight as your number one most listened to podcast
of the year. Same thing with YouTube and the YouTube recap, also on Apple Music. So, man, I'm just so
grateful for you. And if you haven't done yours yet, and if Insight happens to be on your top five
list, please tag me on Instagram or on Twitter, so I can repost that. But just a big thank you for
trusting me with your time, for allowing me to get into your ears on a Tuesday and a Thursday and a
Friday every single week. And like some people, you're in the top 10% or top 5% of listeners.
I've seen top 2%, top 1%. I even saw someone. You were in the top 0.0.1% of all listeners worldwide.
114,000 minutes of listening to the show.
I don't even think we've done 114,000 minutes.
We definitely haven't done 114,000 minutes on this podcast.
So either that's an error or you've listened to episodes many multiple times.
Either way, you guys are so awesome.
And just thank you.
Thank you for being on this ride with me.
Also, thank you to all the real, real, real ones who were there at the sold-out Insight Live in San Diego last Friday night.
Chelsea Green was just the perfect guest for this.
She's hilarious and told so many amazing stories there.
I can't wait for you to hear this episode when it goes live next Thursday.
It's such a good one.
And tickets are on sale for the next announced live show.
We only have one on the calendar as of right now.
Still working to confirm a couple more,
but I hope to see you,
WrestleMania Week in Las Vegas,
get those ticks at CVVTicks.com.
Welcome, my friends, to Ask CVV number one,
one two, sweet edition.
Also, ask CVV number one, one, two.
Is this one?
The My Time edition, so many people sent that one, and man, you know how much I love.
Triple H's My Time Entrance theme.
Also, welcome to Ask CVV number one, one, two cold Scorpio edition.
And also, welcome to Ask CVV number one, one tooth fairy.
edition. If you've got an idea for next week, for Ask CVV number 113, number 113,
let me know. Also, send your questions in for Ask CVV number 113 by leaving a comment on Spotify,
along with your Spotify wrapped rating. That'd be really cool to see as well. Ranking, not rating.
I guess they're similar things. Send me an email, CVV at chrisfanvely.com,
or send it in on social media using that hashtag AskCV.
I should also point out that obviously we're going to have the one-two-two edition, the one-three-two edition.
I don't feel like we can keep going along with these.
Like it can't be the, we just had the one-one two sweet edition, the 112 Cold Scorpio edition.
We can't have the one-two-two-suite edition.
Like we just can't do it every 10 episodes where we're recycling these.
So if you have new ones, I'm happy to go along with those ones for 122, 132, 142, and so on and so forth,
all the way until we get to, you know, the only one I really have mapped out in the future
is Ask CVV-316 for very obvious reasons, right?
So just keep brainstorming with me.
I love how creative you guys have been with all of this stuff.
kickoff, Ask CVV number 112 with this one from me underscore wrestling underscore fan on
Instagram who says, hi Chris, proud to be a real, real one.
My questions are, who is behind the masked man?
And what was your favorite match at Survivor Series War Games 2025?
Well, I was there, and it was so cool hanging out with so many of you guys in San Diego at
Petco Park.
what a great baseball stadium that is.
And it was like unrecognizable for Survivor Series in the best possible way.
Like it's a great baseball stadium.
But the way they did that for Survivor Series, I had a blast there.
Who is the masked man?
That is the big question that we're all asking this week.
And I can tell you who it is most certainly not.
And you will agree with me on this.
It is most certainly not Seth Ron.
Yeah, I know he did the stump, but that is most definitely not Seth Rollins' stump.
Also, just within the storyline, it wouldn't really make sense for Seth Rollins to help out
the vision after they beat him up and kicked him out of the vision.
Although, I suppose, like it's wrestling, anything's possible.
I suppose it could be part of a bigger storyline, another ruse, if you will, but it's not
Seth Rollins.
I think we all know it's not Seth Rollins.
Although a big question that I think needs to be posed is the masked man is still masked.
I thought the masked man was going to be revealed on Raw.
I think they're going to let this play out for at least another month.
And I'll tell you why in a second.
But I think there's a, there's a small chance that whoever the masked man was at Survivor Series
may not still be the same masked man who is revealed whenever this does get revealed.
And the reason I say that is like, what if they've got an idea right now and things change
or storyline shift?
And they go, oh, actually, you know, it might be better.
It was this person who actually was the masked man at Survivor Series and did the super kick
in the stomp.
But wouldn't it make more sense if it was this other person instead?
dead. And I think about that with, we're going way back on this, but when Rikishi ran over Stone Cold,
I did it for the rock, I did it for the people. The original plan there wasn't Rikishi.
So like, this is what I'm saying. There's precedent here, okay, of like a storyline starting
one way and then completely changing. Think of the anonymous raw general manager. You think that
was actually supposed to be horn swoggle that whole time? Or think of Vince's son.
again, right?
You know, who else?
Who could it be?
It's Hornswoggle.
Maybe we're on to something here.
Maybe.
Hmm.
That masked man did look a lot like Hornswoggle.
I think we might be on to something here.
I feel like in all seriousness,
it feels like it's Austin Theory.
And everything with the conversation leading up to this
with Austin Theory was supposed,
supposedly going to be a member of the vision months ago,
it feels like this all lines up here.
If I had to guess right now, as you're listening to it,
my guess is Austin Theory.
But an outside chance here,
didn't it kind of feel like the masked man
moved a lot like Montez Ford?
Like, got down the cage so quick.
Like, so quick.
And I'm not saying it's Montes Ford.
I'm just saying that person was very,
athletic. And if we look at the rosters, who's insanely athletic and has a build similar to that?
Austin Theory for sure. Montez Ford could also possibly be a candidate here. But I'm going to go with
Austin Theory on this. And I don't think that we get the masked man being revealed. Actually, until
next year. And I'll tell you why. Because now we know we got CM Punk versus Braun Breaker for the
World Heavyweight Championship, it's on Raw. Monday, January 5th. That is the first
raw of the new year. It's also the one-year anniversary of Raw being on Netflix. I think that
the masked man will play a role in that CM Punk versus Braun Breaker match. It's probably too
early for predictions on that one. It's actually, wow, it's one month from today as you
listen to this. It's December 5th today. That is January 5th when that match happens, when that Raw
happens. It's probably too early to make a prediction, but if we're following this idea of the
masked man being involved and then unmasking, maybe we kick off the new year with Brom Breaker as the
new World Heavyweight Champion. I don't know. To answer your other question, my favorite match
from Survivor Series War Games, I think for me it was the John Cena match. I love the story
that they told him that match,
I just,
I think we kind of all knew
that John was going to,
I'm calling him John like we're best friends,
John Sina was going to lose
the Intercontinental Championship
to Dominic Mysterio,
but this feud,
this mini feud,
these handful of weeks
with Dominic Mysterio and John Sina
has made Dominic Mysterio a maid man.
He did not flinch
when he was toe to toe with John Siener,
in Boston on Raw when John Cena challenged him for the Intercontinental Championship.
He did not flinch in the six-man match they had, and Dominic Mysterio stepped up here,
and we got a lot of fun stuff in that match.
I think, like, Dom is, I just love how he plays the heel so well.
Like, I bit, even if it was just for a second or two, I bit on that injury spot.
The Bosch Turah Kranah.
with Dom saying he hurt his shoulder.
And then I'm like, well, I don't know.
I think they're hanging on him a little too long.
Like they're showing this a little too much.
The doctors aren't, I mean, they ran in,
but like it just didn't, it felt like a worked storyline.
And then the judgment day goes in.
They're beating up on John Cena.
And then as soon as Dom sees an opening, boom, he's in there.
All of a sudden he's not injured.
anymore. I love it. But one of the coolest things about that match is that John Sina put over
not just one young talent, not just Dominic Mysterio. He put over three. You think you could even make
an argument that he put over four young talent in that match. Rekal Rodriguez, getting John Sina up
with ease for the Tahanabom, amazing. Roxanne Perez hitting John Sina with the pop rocks. Oh,
It was a beautiful thing.
And then fun fact here,
Roxanne Perez was born in 2001.
John Sina signed his development deal with WWE and started with OVW.
Also in 2001.
So like what a fun, full circle generational moment right there?
I love that.
And then I think you can also make an argument that John Sina put over Live Morgan.
We had the return of Liv Morgan.
Liv Dom is a thing once again.
I also love the throwback paying homage to John Sina's heel turn.
John Sina is, or Liv Morgan's hugging on John Sina.
She's smiling.
And then we see her face.
Oh, man.
That was well done.
That was really well done.
That was my favorite match.
And I just appreciate that John Sina is doing the most in these.
last handful of appearances.
And it was just amazing to see how that all came together there.
I think when we look at the War Games matches, it kind of lines up with what we were talking
about last week.
We're like, these were massively stacked matches, both the men's and the women's match.
Stacked.
But the thing was lacking was like, you're not invested in it.
And the only War Games match in recent memory that I feel like we were really invested in, like,
the storyline as a whole of the match was new bloodline versus old bloodline.
That one made a lot of sense.
Like all five people on each team, they have a story here.
And they want to win for their team.
But like, what does a win for your team really mean when you're just being thrown into
this with four other random competitors on your team?
I will say this.
What we did get out of the War Games match was we got a lot of
stories that are going to be told into next year for sure.
AJ Lee versus Becky Lynch is most certainly not done.
That is far from over.
I could definitely see that taking us into WrestleMania.
We have the obvious story here of CM Punk getting pinned by Braun Breaker.
Maybe that match ends on January 5th on Raw.
Or maybe that one continues as well.
I could see a storyline there where Braun Breweryker becomes
the world heavyweight champion and takes on Brock Lesnar. That's been a heavily rumored match.
Brock Lesnar versus Bronbreaker, the athleticism, the intensity there. It'd be a passing of the torch
moment between like the two like beast type of roles that they have. I could see that one
ending up somewhere in the new year. And then we also got a little tension there with Cody Rhodes
and Roman Raines. And if the reports on
line are true, and we are still many months away from
WrestleMania, five to be exact. But if
anything that's being said online right now is true, we could see
Cody Rhodes versus Roman Raines for the third time at
WrestleMania. It's a match that I would love to see. And I think
that the spin on this one could maybe be that Roman
Raines is the baby facing. Cody Rhodes is the heel this time around.
Obviously, a lot can happen in the next five months.
But that feels like somewhere where we could be headed with that.
Also, while they seem to be very close friends right now,
I think we're leading to Rio Ripley versus E.O. Sky at WrestleMania.
And I think that the foreshadowing here was E.O. coming out with a trash can lid.
Ria coming out with the trash can.
And I just feel like, look how close they are.
Look how tight they are.
They seem to be like really, really, really.
chummy on TV. And I feel like that's being done purposely for this to lead up to the match that we
end up getting at WrestleMania. But like, we didn't see anything in the, in the War Games match that
would lead us to believe that there's anything wrong, anything, anything bad happening here.
But I'm just saying, it just feels to me like that's what we're going to get. I also feel like
there's a lot of possibilities now for Live Morgan.
Where do things go with Live Morgan here?
And that will be very interesting.
We'll talk about that in a few questions here.
But I just think that War Games matches, Survivor Series matches in general,
I think work better when you could have a bigger storyline.
And I know that that's not possible every single year.
But that could be one of the reasons why this just fell flat.
And there were some fun moments in both matches, for sure.
That E.O. Sky spot with the trash can, like, she just keeps leveling it up.
Every time she puts a trash can over her head, she keeps leveling it up.
That spot's, like, seriously dangerous.
The moon salt was crazy, too, but, like, I feel like one slight bad rotation and, like,
oh, man, could be bad for a lot of people involved, but, man, it went off perfectly.
What a spot.
I loved it.
also, can I just say
I miss the holding cages
in the Survivor Series war games match.
I miss the tension that can be created
by, is it going to be this person's turn next?
Ooh, nope.
That person put their arm in front of the other person.
It's now this person coming out instead.
And I like the surprise of the countdown
and then someone's music hitting
felt very much like a Royal Rumble match.
But I just, I like the idea of like, who's it going to be.
Ooh, Cody and Roman.
Ooh, there's a little bit of, ooh, little tension here building.
And I think that that would have just been another layer that could have been added on
to continuing to push these storylines for it.
But it was obviously done for a reason.
Maybe it was done for more of an element of surprise.
But I just, I like the holding cages.
And I think that, yeah, I think last year that, that much,
moment in the cage was like, I think that was the most, I think it was the most viewed video on
Instagram maybe all year for WWE. It was a huge, huge moment. This episode is brought to you by

Jay Mark Lucas emailed this one and said,
Hey, CVV, happy Friday on this upcoming Ask CVV-112.
Sweet edition.
Here's my question for the week.
Do you truly believe that L.A. Knight and or Gunther are the right opponents for John
Sina's last match and to pass the torch to when they have.
have all of the young and up-and-comers like Joe Hendry, Javon Evans, Austin Theory, and Bronbreaker.
There seems to be no lack of talent that can possibly try to fill Cina's shoes for the foreseeable
future, but I'm trying to wrap my head around the end result of how it could help shape
L.A. Knight's already 20-plus year career or Gunther's career in which he's already held
a world title. Shouldn't it go to someone up-and-coming that has the one quality to bring out the
much-needed, ruthless aggression for the next 15, 20 years.
So here's the thing about John Cena's final opponent.
Whoever it ends up being, there's going to be, people are going to have issues with
the person who's selected.
Like, there's no perfect opponent here.
So whether it's Gunther, whether it's L.A. Knight, yeah.
Whether it's one of the other names that you listed there or someone else who has
you know, been on the list or talked about for a long time. I think we can remove the idea of
it being Edge or Chris Jericho. I think that those options were out kind of as soon as the last time
as now tournament was announced. But what we're down to right now in the finals of the last time
is now tournament, we've got Gunther and L.A. Knight. Yeah. And if you want to believe all of the
reports online, it sounds like it's going to be Gunther. It sounds like it's going to be Gunther versus
is John Sina. And if we just think about this from a storyline perspective alone, and we'll break
down the rest after, but storyline perspective alone, what a feather in his cap to be able to say,
I retired a Hall of Famer by the name of Goldberg this year. I retired the man who you say is the
greatest of all time, future Hall of Famer, John Sina. Oh yeah, I also held the Intercontinental
Championship for 666 days, a record longer than anybody's ever held it before.
and like you mentioned, also a World Heavyweight Champion.
It kind of feels a little bit, it's a story like I think we've seen before,
it feels a little bit like the legend killer gimmick in a way.
Like he's the legend retireer here.
It's kind of like what Randy Orton was doing.
It wasn't retiring them.
He was taking legends and giving them RKO's and punting him.
I love the legend killer so much.
But I think that this would continue to build Gunther as,
like that dangerous guy, like the guy that you don't want to get into the ring with because,
man, look what he did to John Sina.
Look what he did to Goldberg.
Here's a question, and I don't have the answer to this, but it'd be fun to just kind of
spitball this with you.
If it is, Gunder, and that seems to be what we're lined up for right now, does John Sina tap
out if he loses his match?
Does John Sina pass out if he loses his match?
I just, I feel like that's, I mean, that's the finishing move that Gounthru's been going with,
the sleeper.
Is that the last shot we see of John Cena in the ring?
Is John Cena passing out from a sleeper hold?
It's an interesting thing to think about.
On the flip side of this, let's suppose here that it is L, A, Knight, yeah, some history there with John Sina.
There's been that moment.
There was that moment where, like, John Cena's, like, kind of passed in the torch to L.A. Knight.
Fastlane, 2023, John Cena and L.A. Knight.
Yeah, defeat Jimmy Uso and Solo Sacoa.
And then there's that moment after where John Cena is kind of like, he's saying, look, yeah,
L.A. night's the guy.
And L.A. Knight's kind of going, huh?
Yeah, it kind of looks at John Cena.
Like, I don't want, like, stop trying to put me over.
Like, I kind of felt like maybe a seed's being planted there.
And when John Cena was on the show last year with me when I interviewed him,
John Cena had a lot of very nice things to say about L.A. Night.
There's clearly a lot of mutual respect there between those two.
And Gunther has been so good at elevating whoever he's in the ring with.
Like that match with Solo was just fun.
And I thought from a psychology standpoint, like, working on the thumb,
if he keeps injuring the thumb and keeps taking out the thumb while I can't hit him with the
Samoan spike. I just thought that there was, it was a really well-thought-out match and a great match on
raw. I know we're going to see the same thing with Gunther and L.A. Knight, but it sure seems like
it's going to be Gunther. And I understand the idea of, well, it could have been this person.
It could have been this person. Yeah, it could have been a lot of people. What's really interesting
is I put out a poll four or five, six months ago, something like a lot of that.
that on Instagram, and I listed like 30, 40 superstars.
Who do you think is going to be John Cena's final opponent?
And you know who won that poll?
And this is the very telling of where we were at, four, five, six months ago.
The Rock won that poll.
And The Rock isn't even a name we would even think about over the last month or two.
And I get it, right?
He seems to be, he's in promo mode.
He is on the press tour right now for the smashing machine,
and I certainly hope that The Rock gets all of the nominations
that he very well deserves for that film.
I love The Smashy Machine.
I've said it many times before, but is worth repeating because it's true.
That's the Rock's best performance in his career, bar none.
But isn't it funny that when we put that poll out in the summer,
who do you think will be the Rock's final opponent?
the Rock.
Sorry, who do you think will be John Cena's final opponent?
The Rock was the one who led that poll.
But yeah, I think whoever ends up getting picked here,
and I appreciate that there's been a story leading into this.
It's been the tournament, 16, down to 8, down to 4,
now we're down to 2.
We've been able to follow this along.
There have been some fun surprises in here.
We had a replacement there.
Miz had two chances at this.
And it's funny that Ms. wasn't a name that was.
like being talked about even more. There's a lot of history there with Ms. and John Cena.
But I guess the silver lining in this is that John Cena, whether it's facing off against
Gunther or facing off against L.A. Knight, yeah, you can't do it every time, right? It's going to be
someone who he's never had a match with. Sure, he shared the ring with L.A. Knight,
but it's never had a one-on-one match with him.
So I appreciate that it's going to be someone who,
it'll be the first time we ever see them square up.
So I'm excited to see where this goes.
I think the idea of the whole night of Saturday night's main event
from everything that John Seen has been talking about,
the focus on the entire show is going to be on new talent.
It's showcase.
It's basically going to be a showcase of the next generation.
And that in itself is going to be a nice thing to have on your resume.
Especially if you're an up-and-coming NXT star,
maybe you've been in the wrestling business for a year, two, three,
you're going to be able to, for the rest of your life, say,
I wrestled on the card for John Cena's final match.
I wrestle on that Saturday Night's paint event.
And I think that that's part of this idea that John Cena's talking about
of, like, seizing the opportunity.
And I understand that that was done.
he said seize the opportunity
when he's talking about
who's going to win
the last time is now a tournament
but I think the whole
idea of the night
is going to be
whoever's on that card
they're the people
you need to be keeping an eye on
in the future.
They're the ones
who are seizing the opportunity
this night
to, we're going to find out
can they cut it
on a big stage like that
or not.
It's going to be really interesting
but I'm excited to see
how that whole night goes down
are you guys going to be there?
Will I see you in Washington, D.C.?
I'm flying out there on Thursday.
So Thursday, I'm flying out Friday.
Hope to see you guys there.
Trent Young on Facebook says,
with CVV's retirement tour coming to an end,
can we get a Mount Rushmore of his retirement matches?
Love a good Mount Rushmore.
Love it.
I'm probably a little biased.
This is what Trent says,
because it happened in my city of Perth,
Western Australia,
but I think Crown Jewel
versus AJ Stiles was hands down the best match of the tour.
So it's an interesting thing that I think should be pointed out.
John Cena had 36 dates, right, on the farewell tour.
You know how many matches John Cena worked?
18.
Perfect symmetry.
That means he had 18 matches and 18 promos or other segments
where he was setting up those matches.
I like that.
I like that idea that it was 18.
and 18. So the Mount Rushmore of John Sina
farewell tour matches. I'm with you. For me,
the first spot has to be that match with AJ Stiles.
Just a pure love letter to wrestling. And I love
that John Sina did all the TNA moves and AJ
well, John Sita took all the TNA moves. And
AJ took all of the amazing, iconic, W.W.E. moves.
that moment when John grabs AJ for Sister Abigail.
Oh, what a moment.
What a moment.
So John Cena, AJ styles, for sure.
John Sina versus Cody Rhodes, too.
John Sina versus Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam was such a fun match.
And I just thought that, like, it made up for this style of match they had at
WrestleMania.
and like people said what they did about that match and they were right.
That match was boring and I think,
I kind of think it was intentionally boring.
I think that John Cena was working in a certain style
that he was trying to get booed.
He was trying to, quote, ruin wrestling.
He obviously made up for that at SummerSlam.
So many fun moments in that match.
Love that match.
So I'm going to go, John Sina, Cody Rhodes, SummerSlam.
Just the visual of John,
Sina coming up through the stage on Cody's little elevator, the Cody Vator, if you will.
Cody's on his shoulders, fireman's carry style and the lights on John Sina's face.
A fun moment.
This is going to be an unpopular opinion because I know a lot of people don't like him personally,
but how can you say anything bad about Logan Paul, the in-ring performer?
That match was fantastic.
I think it's the best match of Logan Paul's career
and definitely on my list for my favorite John Cena matches this year.
I thought that that match in Paris was already amazing,
but then the crowd reaction on top of it, Chef's Kiss.
And then, man, it's always so hard with a Mount Rushmore
because we're down to the final spot.
It could only be four.
I got to go, John Cena, C.M. Punk,
night of champions.
What a match.
My favorite John Cena match of all time
also happens to feature CM Punk.
Their amazing match, Money in the Bank,
2011,
CM Punk leaving with the championship.
I love it.
And this match was just
about as perfect as you can get
for those two guys in the ring.
And it was a match
that I think we all looked at.
When John Cena announced his retirement tour,
man, that was last summer.
Not crazy. Money of the Bank, 2024 in Toronto. I think we all started to come up with our dream
matches, dream opponents there. And CM Punk was on everybody's list. And that match delivered,
like, it over-delivered. I thought that that match was so, so well done. So there's my four.
There's my four there. I also, honorable mention, the impromptu match for the United States
championship with Sammy Zane, even though we got a, some shenanigans in the finish there,
that match was so much fun. And like, I felt like I was stealing it from them watching it on TV
instead of that match being in a PLE. So I think there were, there were, I think for all of the
criticism that John Cena's heel run got, and again, I will make this distinction every single
a single time I talk about, I loved the heel turn. Elimination Chamber, Toronto, kicking Cody in the nuts.
I loved the turn itself. I loved the element of surprise with that. The run is a completely different
conversation. For all of the flack that the John Cena heel run gets, we got some amazing matches
during the John Cena heel run. Like, he went for it every single time and he delivered.
the Sina Orton match, a backlash.
Like, for that to be just a few weeks after the match at WrestleMania, which was, it was what it was, and it wasn't very exciting.
I think, again, intentionally, was not very exciting.
We got the Orton-Sena match just a few weeks later, and it was like, oh, man, I know he's a heel, but he's not wrestling like a heel, and it's just been so fun to see.
So there's my four.
I think order doesn't really matter here, but there's,
There's my four, and who knows?
Maybe after Saturday night's main event,
we could kick one off and put in the match with John Cena
versus whoever his last opponent may be,
but I don't know.
Like those four on my list are pretty rock solid.
Got an email from Julian Bond who says,
Hey there, CVV.
Did you unintentionally leak your big guest,
if I'm indeed correct about this?
On Ask CVV-109, around the 26-minute mark, you were talking about John Sina and my former journalist-slash-reporter self-peeped you saying, I'll have to ask John about that.
Which had me immediately go, it's Sina regarding the big guest next week.
Between that and your hints that the interview will be dropping before December 13th, I'm strongly guessing that you awesomely got him for his last free retirement interview.
So less of a question and more of a hunch paired with a holy crap moment, if I'm correct.
Can't wait for the big interview either way next week.
Great show and have a good one.
Julian from Michigan.
Well, Julian, I'm glad you picked up on that little Easter egg that I put in there.
The interview with the big guest has been recorded.
so I can confirm that the big guest next week is none other than the last real champion,
John Sina.
And what an interview this is.
This is easily the biggest interview of 2025 on Insight.
We talked for like an hour and 20 minutes.
and mostly about the farewell tour,
and we went into like, we went into all of it.
So the reason I'm saying,
I was playing coy there in the last question,
the reason I'm saying that John Sina
purposely worked a boring match at WrestleMania
is because he told me that during the interview.
And he was told after that,
he should probably switch things up.
So that's why the matches we got after WrestleMania
we're that much more exciting.
There's so much great stuff in this interview.
So much of it.
I don't want to spoil too much,
but this interview is so good
that we're going to release it a day early.
So there will be no episode on Tuesday next week
because this massive interview with John Cena
will be released on Monday morning.
So same time as usual,
but on Monday instead.
And part of that is because he talks in this interview about like, I don't know who my final opponent is.
We're going to find out on Raw.
It would feel weird to put this episode out on Tuesday if he's talking about not knowing who his opponent is when you would have already seen who that opponent was the night before and then the interview came out the next day.
Also, I just want us to be able to listen to this interview with almost a full week, but like Monday to Saturday leading up to Saturday.
30 nights main events. So this Monday, the invisible man himself, the never seen 17,
sits down with me on insight, and I can't wait for you to hear this. I would say see it.
I can't wait for you to see it, but you won't be able to see him if you're watching on YouTube.
But this is a big one. Mark your calendars as you're heading to work on Monday morning or you're
walking the dog, you're getting that workout in, a special addition of insight this Monday,
December 8th, with none other than John Sina. And I mean, I have so many stories about that day,
but he came to our studio. We had John Sina inside the West Coast Creative Studio,
the studio that I record all of the interviews in L.A.
What a conversation.
We talk about his heel turn.
I ask him all kinds of questions about his heel turn.
We talk about why the match with Brock Lesnar was so short.
I did a little fun thing where I was asking him,
I'm going to name someone who you shared the ring with this year
and give me a one word or one sentence feeling about that person.
Man, he had some very interesting things to say about CM Punk and AJ Styles.
in particular.
But I also asked him, like, how long was he planning this?
Like, he announced it at Money in the Bank, 2024.
So, like, summer of 2024, but how long was this in the works?
His answer is going to blow you away how long they have been planning the farewell tour.
It's a lot longer than you think.
So Monday, I will see you with John Sina.
You don't want to miss it.
If you have a friend who doesn't normally listen to insight,
send them a text right now and let them know this is one that they cannot and will not want to miss.
So good on you, Julian, for picking up the pieces and drop the little hints that I dropped.
Good on you for putting that all together and figuring it out.
I owe you a beer.
Ponce Sean underscore on Instagram says,
Hey, CVV with Liv Morgan returning,
do you see a possible split of the Judgment Day
into separate factions eventually setting up
Live versus Roxanne?
I think there's a lot of different ways this can go.
I think that ultimately the Judgment Day
will get broken up, or at least we'll see some tension there
with Roxanne Perez and Liv Morgan.
And this has been kind of teased before,
but I feel like it's going to play out here
and man, that's going to be a great match.
I would love to see Liv Morgan in the title picture, though.
I think that's another path that this could go.
But what if we see something like Dominic Mysterio
and Liv Morgan teaming up against Finn Baller and Roxanne Perez?
Like what if that's what this ends up being?
What if that ends up being like an Indianman?
gender tag team match at WrestleMania.
Because like what you're saying, maybe the judgment day gets split up.
Maybe there's like a power struggle, and we end up seeing like, oh, and I'm the leader of the
judgment day.
No, I'm the leader of the judgment day.
I will say that Liv Morgan coming back was fun, awesome.
Again, I love the paying tribute to John Cena's heel turn, the smiling face to the
serious face, kicking the nuts.
It was perfect the way that they paid tribute to that.
But there's a lot of different opportunities here for Liv Morgan.
So it'll be very interesting to see what her first feud is here.
I don't, the first feud's not going to be within judgment day for sure.
It'll be really interesting to see where this goes.
Sean Martell emailed this one and said, hey, CVV, real, real one here.
I loved having my question read on
Ask CVV number 66 and was happy to see the return of the traditional Survivor Series match,
even though it was only on Smackdown.
My question is if you could do a rivalry interview,
where you sit down with two superstars and do a joint interview to get both perspectives
on a specific feud, storyline, or run.
Who would it be?
Having seen the Montreal screw job in person,
Brett and HBK is an obvious choice for me,
but I feel like Sina and Orton could be great.
Or Austin Rock.
Would love to hear yours.
all the best to you and your family and thank you for all that you do. First of all,
you being at Survivor Series 97 seeing the screw job in person, that's crazy. Also must have
been like super confusing. I think about that all the time because you're watching this going,
they're ringing the bell, but he didn't tap. And now Brett Hart seems extremely angry.
Oh, wow. Did he, did he just spit on Vince McMahon? Oh, wow. And like the match itself just felt like
they were laying it in extra hard.
I certainly bred on Sean.
If I could do a rivalry interview,
I think just selfishly,
I would do Austin and Rock
so that I could be in the same room
as Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock
at the same time.
Like, I don't even know if I'd have to talk.
I would just love to just be in the room
and hear those guys chat.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall
for a conversation between Steve Austin
and Dwayne Johnson.
Crazy.
And I've never done a rivalry
interview before,
but I think you might be on to something.
The one that I have thought,
I don't often have two guests.
I can probably only count
on one hand the amount of times
I've had two guests for an interview.
Caryon and Scarlett,
that was an obvious one,
and that one made a ton of sense.
John Morrison and Taya,
again, makes a ton of sense
to have them together.
I think the,
of the gun
the gun club. That was, I think, probably the last one before to have them together. I mean,
makes sense. But I have, like, usually I interview tag teams. It's like one and then the other.
Like, I had Matt Hardy on and then I had Jeff Hardy on. That's one I'm working on, hopefully.
Fingers crossed. Have I said too much? If that all comes together, getting the Hardy Boys on together
for an interview. Oh, man. But yeah, Rock Austin together. Like, that seems extremely unlike.
that I could pull this off. I also don't think I could pull off
John Sina and Randy Orton in the same room. But if I could,
that'd be a great one too. But I will selfishly answer this with
Grock Austin. Ben.thompson.01 on Instagram says,
I'm a top fan, CVV. And you got a screenshot here that you,
oh my goodness, you are a top 2% fan on Spotify. Thank you for this
screenshot. Please. I'm serious about this. Send them in.
If you looked at my Instagram on Wednesday and Thursday,
reposted, like, everybody who had me at number one and tagged me, like, thank you for having
insight as your number one show. I reposted them all on Instagram. It says you streamed 7,5005 minutes
of the show. Top 2% fan. Wow. Here's a question for this week's Ask CVV as I love the Mount Rushmore
questions. You and me both. I'm jokingly, I'm like, oh man, another Mount Rushmore question,
but I secretly love them.
I love a good Mount Rushmore question.
What is your Mount Rushmore of second generation wrestlers?
For me, Randy Orton, Dominic Mysterio, Charlotte Flair, and The Rock.
Always love listening to your podcast.
Gets me through the day as a van driver.
I hope you're having a great day driving the van right now.
Well wishes from London, England.
Yeah, I think the Rock is third generation.
So I think we have to take Rock off of that list.
if we're just going second generation.
Brett Hart,
I mean,
that seems like a pretty obvious choice.
Eddie Guerrero?
Man,
I'm just,
I say it with surprise because I'm like,
oh my gosh.
Like Eddie Guerrero,
yeah,
of course he's a second generation wrestler,
but like he stands alone.
Same with Brett.
Like,
you don't often think about them in that way.
Man,
there's so many great second generation
superstars. We now have a fourth generation superstar with Rock's daughter, Ava. Isn't that crazy?
Right on a fourth generation superstars? Wild. Randy Orton, for sure. And like the great thing that I'm
about everybody I've listed already, and this is no disrespect to their fathers, but all of them
have stepped out of the shadow of the man who came before them, and they have now become a star.
within their own right. Oh man, Mount Rushmore down to the final one. We can only say four names.
It's tough. I'm going to go on the legendary side. There's obviously a lot of extremely talented
second generation wrestlers who are still doing their thing right now. I don't feel like their legacies have
been cemented yet. I'm talking about like Roman Raines,
Charlotte Flair, Cody Rhodes.
But I'm gonna, the fourth face on my Mount Rushmore is going to be Kurt Henning, Mr. Perfect,
the son of Larry the Axe, Henning.
And I understand the idea of like some people may not even think about some of the people
I listed as being second generation because there's so much, they've become so much bigger
than their fathers.
But I mean, look at the, look at the four people on my list.
That could, that could be a list of just anyone's Mount Rushmore.
doesn't even have to be a second generation.
Red Hart, Eddie Guerrero,
Randy Orden, Mr. Perfect?
It's a heck of a Mount Rushmore right there.
But there's a ton, I mean, there's so many talented,
second generation wrestlers.
I'm not even going to list them all
because I will ultimately end up missing some names,
but that's a fun one.
That is a fun one.
Thank you for sending that one in.
email from Taiji.
It's a fun, would you rather?
Okay.
Hey, Chris, Tai G here.
Been listening to your podcast for over three years now.
Thank you for always keeping me entertained.
Anyway, here's a would you rather.
Would you rather get K.O. punched by the big show every time you get out of the shower.
What's what the shower would you rather's?
Would you rather get low blowed every time you take a drink of something?
Every time I take a drink of something?
Thank you, Chris.
And I really hope I get on.
Well, you are on, Ty.
And please send your would you rather's.
The more ridiculous, the better.
Well, here's the thing.
I got to drink something every single day.
I don't have to take a shower every day.
So you're saying I'm going to get low-blowed every time.
So is this every time I take a,
sip. Like, I drink like a gallon of water a day and then an energy drink or two. And then like liquid
death, sparkling water, they have some fantastic flavors. They have an apple cider right now that
is just, oh, unbelievable. They are not a sponsor, but I wish they were. They're root beer.
Sparkling water also tastes just like root beer. So for someone like me with a sweet tooth,
I would be getting low-blowed a lot.
And I feel like if I got low-blowed,
even just a few times in a day,
I would be going to the hospital.
So I suppose I could take my liquids in through an IV, though.
That's a nice little workaround,
but then I'd be walking around with an IV bag
all the time.
You know what?
Getting knockout punched by the big show sounds awful.
and the big show, like you've seen him on TV, he's huge.
When you meet him in person, my goodness.
He's a freak of nature.
It's like massive.
I think I would just go not showering for a while.
And like hopefully no one would notice.
Could I take baths?
Is that the workaround?
If I could take baths, huh, I think I just figured it out.
I'll just take baths.
And then I don't have to get punched by the big show.
or get low bloated. I could drink all the water I want.
Ethan Riggs sent this one in on, what was this? Instagram?
Yes. No, this is Facebook. Sorry. No. Yes. This is Facebook. Any advice for anyone that's trying to make it
in the wrestling business. You've had the chance to talk to so many different wrestlers.
What seems to be the commonality with success and moving from the Indies to the mainstream?
Ethan, I certainly can't give you any advice from my own experience,
but I can repeat or parrot the advice that I've heard from the legends that I've had on the show.
One of the ones that really stands out for me is from Bully Ray,
who's like two words, get over.
Whatever it takes, whatever you got to do, baby face, heal, get over.
And like, I know that's easier said than done for sure.
But think about it. If you get over, you become undeniable, whether that's getting over with just being
like a great technical wizard in the ring, whether it's getting over with a great entrance theme.
Think like Joe Henry. Like Joe Henry's had that theme song for a long time. And I just feel like
Joe Henry's theme song combined with his personality, his gimmick, his promos, just chipped away at it.
kept chipping away, got over. Look at him now. Royal Rumble Spot,
WrestleMania match against Randy Orton, just signed with WWE.
Amazing. So I think it's get over. However you can make that happen, get over.
I've heard Stone Cold say it was actually a story Kevin Owens told on the show. It's a story
that's been out there for a long time. But Kevin Owens and Sammy Zane ran into Stone Cold at an airport.
And they were like, man, we got to take this chance to talk to him and ask him for advice.
And the advice that he gave to Kevin Owens was work on your promos.
And like, oh my goodness, like look at how great Kevin Owen's promos are now because he took
that advice to heart.
I also heard Stone Cold say sell, like learn how to sell.
And I thought that was really interesting advice because I think that so often, especially
when you're early on in your wrestling journey,
you're thinking about like,
how can I look good?
And I think it's,
if you can make your opponents look good,
and think of someone like,
the names who come to mind
for being great sellers,
people like Dolph Ziegler, of course,
but think of like some of the underrated sellers.
You know who's a great underrated seller
that you don't think of
just because he's like a big, menacing figure?
Brock Lesnar is fantastic.
fantastic at selling. And because Brock Lezor is so good at selling, it makes his opponents look
great. And then it means so much more when his opponents can finally get a win over him.
You know who else is so good at selling? Triple H. Like if you have, if you want to do a little
homework this weekend, I mentioned it a few weeks ago with the Mick Foley interview that we had.
But Mick Foley, Triple H, Royal Rumble 2000. Oh my gosh. Like what a man.
And like AAA, she's just selling like crazy.
But that's just what he does.
So I think that that's really good advice too.
But I think the biggest thing is like, find a gimmick that works, one that you believe in.
I think that's another part of it.
Like, a gimmick can work when it's you turned up to 11.
Stone Cold Steve Austin, right?
That's who he is.
He just turns it up a little bit and it works.
That's when a gimmick can work.
A gimmick can also work when maybe it's not like you at all.
but you lean into it and you believe it.
And if you believe it, everybody else believes it too.
Gold dust is a perfect example of that.
Gold dust couldn't be anything further from who Dustin Runnels is.
Dustin Rhodes is.
But he leaned into that and he believed it.
And because he believed it, you believed it too.
And that's why he's a future Hall of Famer.
So that's my advice there through.
it's my voice saying it,
but that's the advice that I heard
from all of the other people
who I've been so fortunate
to sit across from.
Nick Martin, 1995,
on Instagram, says,
which wrestlers would you like to see
become champions for the first time
in 2026?
I think it's a pretty
likely thing
that we'll see Bronbreaker
as a world champion in 2026.
Maybe it's not on January 5th.
Or maybe it is,
and then we get either
Bronbreaker versus Brock Lezor at WrestleMania,
or maybe it's Brombreaker having a rematch against CM Punk at WrestleMania.
But I think Brombreaker becomes a world champion for the first time in 2026.
I think Kyle Fletcher becomes the AEW world champion in 2026.
And if not in 2026, very soon.
I mean, Kyle Fletcher is absolutely a star.
You know who's another one?
And I guess we could put an asterisk on this.
He's been a world champion before.
but L.A. Knight, yeah, impact world champion, but I think it'd be great to see him finally. It's been
teased so much. If L.A. Knight's not going to be John Sten his final opponent, if we are truly
leaning towards Gunther, L.A. Knight, give him the championship. Finally. That's one we
got to see happen. So there's three names there that I would love to see.
Actually, I'll give you one more.
Roxanne Perez.
She's been an NXT champion before two times,
but never a main roster world champion.
That's one that's bound to happen.
That one's just a matter of time.
I would love to see that in 2026.
There's a few other names on there,
but those are the ones for me.
Craig Usher says,
Hey, Chris, let's have some fun here.
What is your Mount Rushmore?
I feel like I need a sound effect.
What is your Mount Rushmore of Christmas movies?
Craig Usher from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
Leftbridge, Alberta, Canada.
Say it like Lance Storm.
Man, I love this.
And we've been playing Christmas movies
in our household for the last few weeks.
Mount Rushmore Christmas movies.
I'm going to kick things off with a classic.
Most of these are classic.
but a real classic here.
A Christmas story.
No, shoot your eye out, kid.
So many fun moments from there.
So many memes,
we have a Christmas story,
a miniature little leg lamp.
Fraggile.
Must be Italian.
So many quotable lines from that movie.
Just a great feel-good movie,
full of nostalgia.
I love it.
Home alone.
And for me,
it's truly nostalgic
because I remember that movie coming out.
When I was a kid, I remember seeing that when it came out.
And full circle, I just went to go see Home Alone.
It was a nostalgic night with McCulley Culkin.
You watched the movie.
Rachel and I, RVV and I, went and we saw this in Long Beach.
And then afterwards, McCauley Culkin answers questions from the audience.
It was such a fun night.
Like, what a great date night that was.
and he told so many amazing stories about the movie.
There's so many fun facts about Home Alone.
It just makes me love the movie even more.
I'll give you a fun fact right now because you're like,
oh, man, what kind of fun facts?
Did you know that the house that they shot that movie in?
That's really just exterior shots.
The entire house set was built in a high school gymnasium.
They had this gym that they just built out all those sets,
all of the kitchen, the stairwell, the basement, all of it was built out in a high school gym.
So when you see those posts online of like, oh, the home alone house, oh, it has no character anymore,
the interior is not the same house.
It was just a set.
And it was so fun hearing that story.
Also, someone asked a question at the Q&A, but I was like, oh, man, if I had asked that question,
And I'm still trying hard to get McCulley Colkin on the show because he's a hardcore wrestling fan and has been like his whole life.
Someone asked a question, who would win in a fight?
Ralphie from a Christmas story or Kevin McAllister from Home Alone?
I was like, oh, what a great question.
And McCauley Culkin goes, and I think the answer is pretty obvious.
Kevin McAllister can take out the wet bandits.
I think he could make short work of Ralphie.
Also, Kevin McAllister shooting the BB gun of the sports figures into the laundry shoot.
And then, like, Ralphie, like shooting his eye out.
Obvious choice.
Number three, Elf.
I love Elf.
Oh, man, it's just, what a fun movie.
So many, again, quotable lines.
Elf's got to be on there.
And it's a rare holiday movie, I think, that's funny.
charming,
rewatchable,
and like doesn't try too hard.
Also, people are always like,
oh man, I'm so over elf.
And then Christmas rolls around,
December rolls around,
and you watch it anyway.
And then fourth spot here,
always so hard to narrow it down,
but National Lampoon's Christmas vacation.
It's just so fun.
The most quotable Christmas movie
ever made
my sister and her brother-in-law, my brother-in-law, her husband,
geez.
Kimberly and Brent loved the movie so much that one of my nephews is actually named Clark
because they love Clark Griswold and they love the movie so much.
I'm totally on board with that.
I love it.
So I've got twin nephews, by the way.
Actually, their birthday was just a few days ago.
They will never hear this.
But happy birthday, Colin and Clark.
I love it.
They just turned 15.
So we got Colin Clark and my niece Ainsley.
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.
Haven't watched that one yet this year.
But I can't wait.
There's my four.
If you've got a better four, I would love to hear it.
And so much of Mount Rushmore is about nostalgia and like how old you are and what makes you feel something in your tummy.
But that's it for me.
Brian Ibarra on Instagram says,
Hey, Chris, what's one lesson or piece of advice you learned this year
from interviewing so many different personalities
that completely change the way you approach conversations,
either on camera or in real life?
P.S, it was awesome listening to you
and all the podcasts throughout the year.
Can't wait for 2026.
I was part of the realest of real ones
coming in in the top 0.5% of listeners for insight
with Chris VanVe.
fleet. Brian, man, I appreciate that so much. That's amazing. I think the biggest thing I've learned
this year that's changed the way that I've interacted with people is the way that John Sina
interacts with you. He is so incredibly present. He walked into it, and like this isn't a completely
uncommon thing, but he walked into it and his phone was in his, he had like a bag with him,
like a duffel bag, his phone never came out.
We, John Cena was in our studio for almost two hours.
And like at no point during that time did he go, oh, I'm so sorry, I got to respond to
this.
And you could hear his bag buzzing the whole time.
And so he like didn't have this phoomel of like, oh, what's that text?
Is that a call?
Am I missing out on something?
And we're talking about one of the busiest guys in Hollywood, not just wrestling, not
not just acting like all of it.
Like, think of how many commercials
John Cena is voicing over.
Like, you hear John Cena's voice
like every third commercial.
Like, he's so busy.
And I just appreciate that
when you have John Cena's time,
you have his time.
And it's such a big lesson
that I need to continue to apply,
whether it's,
it's something I already do in interviews
because, I mean,
you can't be checking your phone
during an interview.
And why would I want to?
I'm like, I'm locked in.
during an interview, during a podcast, and it's sadly one of the few times in our life that we are
locked in because it's being recorded and you've got a microphone in front of your face.
But it's a lesson that I am taking into my personal life too.
Like, you know, my daughter's only going to be two for this year.
And that's it.
Like we were actually just picking out, we did a photo shoot for our Christmas card.
And I was just picking out the photos with Rachel.
I don't know why I'm getting emotional thinking about this.
And I think it's just the idea of like,
our kids are only kids.
They're only little kids for like this tiny little period of time.
But we're looking at these photos that were taken like, you know, a few weeks ago.
And we're like, oh, they've already grown up so much since then.
So I think the biggest lesson, Brian, is just in trying to be as present as possible in every moment.
I heard something recently, and I hope I remember this correctly. It's the 5-4-3-2-1 rule when it comes to
like a big event, a big moment in your life that you want to remember. What are five things
you can see? What are four things you can touch? What are three things you can smell? Maybe it's
three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste.
think about that.
Like, think how that makes a moment like tactile.
Like, it's now like you can feel that moment.
You can taste that moment.
You can smell that moment.
I've been trying to do that so much more.
And it's funny, when you start to apply that to like a big moment in your life or even
a small moment in your life that might be really meaningful to you, you're able to
like take yourself back to that moment because you took the time, whether it was 10 seconds
or a minute to go, what can I?
see, I want to, like, take in, like, the sights and the sounds, right?
But, like, you're taking in all five senses here.
That's been the biggest one for sure for me.
Vincent Olivierio emailed this one.
And, hey, CVV, Vince here from AskCV106.
Welcome back for the AskCV112 cool edition.
Oh, that's pretty good.
Too cool.
thought I'd go with a would you rather question since it's been a thing lately. Oh, it has been a thing
indeed. And please keep sending them in, baby. Would you rather take a stink face from Rikishi
twice a year or eat worms with the boogeyman every three months? Oh my gosh. So I'm doing two
two stink faces a year or four worms with the boogeyman.
Do I have to actually eat the worms or they just have to be in my mouth?
How many worms are we talking?
Is it like a whole fistful of worms or is it like a worm?
You pluralized worms.
All right, I'm guessing we're going to have to go all the way in on this.
We're going to have to take the, like, because boogeyman has a mouth full of worms, right?
What a great gimmick that is.
If I could, that's another one, I will keep putting this out in the world.
I have this list of like what I will call like the impossible interviews just because
they don't do them.
Stacey Keebler, hardcore Holly.
Sting is not on that same list because he's still doing conventions.
He's still doing like appearances.
But when was the last time Sting did a podcast?
Like I feel like when I got Steve Blackman, that was like, that was an impossible one.
He hadn't done it anymore in 17 years.
Boogie Man out of character is on that list for me.
I would love to ask Boogie Man when he started eating worms and also why.
But I'm going to have to go, would you rather here?
I mean, they're both pretty gross.
I'm going to take a stink face.
Because think about this.
Think of all the people who took stink faces.
I mean, am I trying to say I'm better than,
Kurt Angle or Booker T or Paul Heyman or Vince McMahon or Lita, Stephanie McMahon, Trish Stratus,
like they all took a stink face.
I'm just taking two a year.
Mr. Perfect took a stink face.
I mean, granted, he put the towel in front of his face, very smart, Mr. Perfect.
Brilliant. Oh, man. I feel like sometimes Mr. Perfect is underrated. I don't know, maybe because he
didn't win a world title in WWE. I just feel like Mr. Perfect's so good. I will gladly,
twice a year, take a stink face from Rikishi. Eating in the worms, I don't know. I just,
I don't think that's for me. I don't think so. And there we go.
That was the final question for this.

quote that actually came up during the interview with John Cena, the interview that you'll be
hearing on Monday, the interview that you will not want to miss. But it's an African proverb

The Hammer Alley podcast, an 80s flashback mockumentary.
Back in the 80s, there were a thousand bands trying to make it in the world of rock,
but there was one band that had it all.
Hammer Alley.
Whatever happened to Hammer Alley?
How did they go from top of the rock?
I'm looking for a music video.
They're a band from 1987.
