Chris.
Oh, baby.
Welcome back to another one here on Inside.
I'm CVV.
Chris Van Fleet.
Thanks for hanging out with me on a Friday.
And thank you for making Insight
the number one wrestling podcast on the planet.
Spear that follow button in half,
wherever you're listening to this right now.
And could I ask for a favor?
Since you're a real one,
since you're listening to an AskCV episode,
could I ask you to leave a rating for the show
on Spotify or if you're listening
on Apple Podcasts,
could you leave a review on there?
Because on top of listening to the show,
that is the biggest thing
that can help the show grow.
And man, we have been getting
some huge guests lately,
pun intended,
because Tuesday was episode number 900
of the show,
900. And we had the perfect guest
for a big show
like episode number 9,000.
nine hundred. Paul White is just amazing, like so many incredible stories like Arnold ribbing him
for 12 years, complete with a perfect Arnold impression, might I add. And speaking of impressions,
his stone cold stories, so good. The story about Ray Mysterio and the stretcher and like he wasn't
supposed to let go. The stretcher actually slipped out of his hands and he's like, oh my God, I just
killed Ray Mysterio. The story behind breaking the ring with Brock Lesner. And I know there's,
I know there's a lot of people that to this day still don't realize that was part of the show
or at the very least they don't know exactly how they pulled it off with an airbag under the ring.
It's a great story.
You've got to listen to that episode if you haven't yet.
And then yesterday, Liv Morgan on the show.
Pre-bump on her head, Liv Morgan.
We recorded the interview last Friday.
So just a few days before that giant goose egg that's right.
right in the middle of her forehead.
You might have noticed that that episode was shorter than usual.
So please accept my sincerest apologies about that.
Liv was on a tight schedule.
She had to rush to the airport to make that flight.
And they were like, you have until 6 o'clock.
And it was like, it was like 533 or something.
And then we still had to like get into the elevator
and go all the way up to the 17th floor.
And then, like, Las Vegas, hotels are huge.
We recorded this at ARIA.
We had to walk all the way from where the elevators were to the furthest hotel room at the end of the hall.
Then we sat down, framed everything up, hit record.
So it was quick.
But she promised that our next one will be over an hour to make up for it.
She suggested that we filmed the next one at her farm in Florida with her cows and her pigs and her donkey and her chickens.
So just rest assured that a much longer conversation with Liv Morgan is on the way at some point in time, maybe after WrestleMania.
Speaking of WrestleMania, how is it already next weekend?
WrestleMania 42 is now eight days away.
And like, it can't be just me.
I feel like WrestleMania 41 was like four or five months ago.
And then I know, like, you know, you go back and, okay, backlash.
then clash in Paris and SummerSlam.
Like I can connect all of the dots.
I just feel like we were just there in Las Vegas
or you were just watching it.
And here we are a week away.
One, two smackdowns and a raw away from WrestleMania.
Crazy.
It also means we're now six days away from Insight Live
at Circa Resort Casino, Las Vegas.
Maven joining me as our special guest.
and he's also staying after the show for the meet and greet for anybody who has a VIP ticket.
Grab those tickets now.
While you still can, CVVTix.com, CVVTX.com.
And if you're going to be in Las Vegas and you're not attending WrestleMania or you're not attending it on one of the nights,
CERC is doing the watch parties at Stadium Swim, a 143-foot screen with pools in front of it,
amazing food, incredible drinks,
the best atmosphere you can find
if you're not going to be inside Allegiance Stadium.
So when you click on CVVTICS.com,
it takes you through to the Circomania website,
and you can see all of the details
and the ability to buy tickets for that on there as well.
I can't wait to see you guys in Las Vegas next week.
Whether you're coming to Insight Live,
whether I see you at Hall of Fame,
whether I see you at WWE World,
whether I see you at Allegiance Stadium,
whether I just see you walking out and about on the strip,
I can't wait to chat some wrestling with you,
and I can't wait to do that right now as well.
So, welcome, my friend, to Ask CVV number one,
30 man and 30 woman Royal Rumble edition.
Send in your questions for next week.
Send in your ideas for Ask CVV number 131,
number one, three one, by leaving a comment on Spotify.
After you've rated the show on Spotify, of course.
Then you can send a comment with your question or suggestion on there.
Send it in on social media using that hashtag Ask CVV or shoot me a message through the contact
page of Chris vanfleet.com.
Let's dive into this with this one from Baker, who sent this in on Chris VanVlead.com
and says,
I'm a real, real one from Easley, South Carolina.
Is it just me?
Or did Pat McAfee's ranting promo,
combined with the beatdown of Cody,
have a real early NWO-slash outsiders feel to it?
Maybe it was that McAfee referenced the attitude era during his rant,
but there was something about the tone and even the way that they walked away from
the ring that just felt to me like early NWO.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this, Baker.
I think when we look at this promo from Pat McAfee last Friday on Smackdown,
it feels to me that it's right message, wrong messenger.
That promo is fantastic.
And he's echoing a lot of the complaints that fans have been saying online for years.
Ticket prices.
Guys that don't look like wrestlers.
Long, flippy, floppy matches with no buildup.
the fact that the attitude is gone.
All of this.
This is what people have been talking about online for so long.
But I think it just comes down to expectations.
Pat McAfee's not the guy that fans were expecting to be revealed as the person that
Randy Orton was on the phone with.
And I think the reality is this story with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes doesn't and didn't need anything else.
Like, even if fans were still cheering Randy,
and I feel like fans will forever cheer Randy no matter what he does,
he could punt everybody's mother in the ring,
and they still be like, oh, it's Randy Orden being Randy Orden.
But even if the fans are still cheering him,
this story is almost 20 years in the making.
And I just don't think it needed any more help.
And why was Pat McAfee adjusting his sunglasses so much?
Like, so much.
Why didn't he just find a pair of sunglasses that,
fit. Also, why are sunglasses
synonymous with being a heel, it seems?
I've seen people saying,
why would Pat McAfee be telling Randy Orton on the phone
that wrestling has more than one royal family?
That doesn't make sense, CBB.
I think that if we're looking in storyline here,
that one's just as simple as, hey, Randy, don't forget who you are.
Like, hey, Cody's not the only one
from a family of great wrestlers. Look in the mirror.
You're Randy Orden.
I think that one adds up.
I just think that there's a lot of this that doesn't.
And I think that we'll start to get some more of an explanation.
Like there's a lot of, it's a big knee-jerk reaction right now.
And I understand the knee-jerk reaction right now.
When we rewind this almost exactly 12 months ago, it feels a little bit like Travis Scott.
And people were like, okay, let's just wait and see with the Travis Scott situation.
Well, let's wait and see.
What's going on here?
We got Travis Scott, we got The Rock, we got John Sina.
That kind of felt a little bit like the NWO.
I saw the comparisons being made last year.
And then that ended up turning into a big pile of nothingness.
And it led to this WrestleMania main event with all of these expectations,
none of which were met, except for the expectation of John Sina winning the 17th championship.
But no payoff there, no explanation even, not even a one sentence.
explanation as to why Travis Scott was in the ring for his heel turn.
So I understand the knee-jerk reaction.
I get it.
With that said, you heard the reaction on Smackdown last Friday.
Fans are booing now, even though they were cheering Randy or no matter what I did.
They're not booing Randy.
I get it.
They're booing Pat.
Still cheering Randy.
But I think tonight on Smackdown, we get a real explanation.
because I just, I don't see how Randy Orton can walk out to possibly and probably winning his 15th title at WrestleMania of all places with Pat McAfee in this kind of like managerial role.
Unless all of this is somehow being done to have Randy turn on Pat in the main event to get that massive pop.
And then Randy is the 15 time champion as just the baby face that fans want.
him to be.
Randy Orton as a heel is great, but let's be honest here.
We're just going to keep cheering him.
Pam McAfee tweeted that he has a massive surprise to announce on Smackdown, which at this
point feels like it could be anything.
The final boss feels like he could be built into this, could be put into this in some
sort of way, and maybe we finally get a payoff for last year.
Man, that'd be wonderful.
even if it wasn't intentional at all,
even if it's just them going,
ooh, that segment didn't quite go over
the way that we thought it would.
What can we do to try to resolve this,
to try to make something of it?
But I think that if we look down the line with this,
here's where I think this could go.
I'm not saying it's going to go there,
but I'm saying here's where it could go.
Let's, to quote my good friend Sam Roberts,
let's speculate wildly.
Because it feels like,
like this could be the 2026 version of the corporation.
Like this could be the TKO heel stable.
Vince McMahon worked so well as such a great heel as that Mr.
McMahon character after the Montreal screw job because he leaned into how people
felt about him.
He knew what the chatter was, even in the early days of the internet, but he knew what
the chatter was.
He heard the reactions in the arena.
People knew that he screwed Brett, even though.
he gave that now famous interview, Brett screwed Brett.
He leaned into it.
What if Triple H did that now?
He's the guy that fans point to when something happens.
Whether it's good or bad, Triple H gets the brunt of it.
So what if we get like the authority again, but one that feels more real now because
Triple H is the guy with Vince gone?
What if Triple H in a very authentic way does this big like F you to the fans?
Like, yeah, I raise ticket prices.
Yeah, and I got rid of like those cheap skates that were only coming in and buying up the nosebleeds.
I don't know what it would be, but I'm just making this up right now.
But it feels like with that promo that CM Punk cut on Raw, which also felt like a reaction
to the, the Pat McAfee thing on Friday, what if with this promo that CM Punk cut
where he's referencing his agent Ari Emanuel, Pat McAfee's agent,
who's the executive chairman of TKO,
kind of shoehorning Pat McAfee into this WrestleMania build.
And then again, CM Punk's mentioning ticket prices
and how they got to come down.
I feel like all the lines are getting blurred.
So what if this all leads to something bigger?
And I know it's so difficult to look at something
and try to see the bigger picture
because two things happen.
One, you just get caught up
and like,
this is the thing that happened
on SmackDown and like,
that's the only thing I have,
like the only frame of reference I have for it.
I get that.
We'll have a lot more
to work off of after SmackDown tonight
and then wherever this leads to
over the next week
and then into hopefully
some sort of payoff
or at least something more
at WrestleMania.
I get that that's hard.
I think the other thing that's hard
is we all want to speculate wildly.
I've been doing that.
as long as I've been a fan. I try to have patience. I try to talk about like, let's just see where
this goes. I don't know where this is going to go. Maybe it goes to the place that I speculated wildly
about. I don't know. But I should point out, with all of the talk about ticket prices and how
they need to come down, they actually have gone down quite a bit. Like, I'm looking at the Seatkeek app right
now. And as you know, Seat Geek is a sponsor of the show. You can sit on the floor.
for either night one or night two for just a little over $300.
So for all of this talk about ticket prices being like so high,
I'm not arguing with you.
I'm just saying they have come down a lot.
So for a little over $300,
and if you use the code CVV,
you'll get an extra 10% off,
you can sit on the floor.
So maybe all of this is causing the ticket prices to come down permanently.
guess we'll see.
And I'm sure as we get even closer to the event,
like if you were to buy tickets Saturday, like one o'clock,
like doors open at 2.30.
If you bought tickets Saturday at 1 o'clock,
I bet you could find some real steals of a deal.
That was a triple rhyme.
Real steel of a deal.
Guard David.0-824 on Instagram says,
what do you think of all the spoilers?
Like Ray Mysterio joining the match,
the latter match you're talking about.
Sina hosting WrestleMania and Demon Finn Baller,
all being spoiled.
I think that some of those did need to be announced in advance.
I think that John Sina being the host of WrestleMania
is the most obvious of that.
I think that gets people excited.
Like, oh my gosh, it's another WrestleMania,
this time John Sina is a baby face.
And it's also, it's nice to know that, like,
for so many years,
John Sina and Resslemae have just gone hand in hand.
So for John Cena to be out there, even if it's just for a few segments, I like that.
I think that one makes a lot of sense.
Demon Finn Baller, I feel like, is one that definitely should have been left for the surprise
of the night.
It comes out to that music, and I think that people can go, all right, well, that's Finn Baller's
old music.
They've been using that recently.
But then when you see him dressed as the demon, I just think.
it adds a whole other layer to it.
And it's a nice surprise.
So that's one I'm with you on.
Ray Mysterio being announced
for this intercontinental ladder match
makes me feel like maybe there's
going to be somebody else added to the match.
And maybe they're announcing it now
because they want the even bigger surprise
of adding whoever this happens to be into the match.
Again, just speculating wildly here,
but I can't see any other reason why you'd announce Ray for that match.
Because as far as we were concerned,
if you were reading anything online,
Ray Mysterio was too injured to have this match with Gunther.
Although maybe this ties into something with that.
Maybe Ray Mysterio is going to grab that Intercontinental Championship.
There's no one around.
And Gunther comes out of nowhere,
pushes them off the ladder.
Boom.
We get this match set up for whenever that happens to be.
because there's been long-standing rumors
that we're going to get Gunther versus Ray Mysterio
in whatever Ray Mysterio's final match happens to be.
But I don't think it's, I mean,
his final match isn't happening at WrestleMania 42,
so I like that.
I want to watch Ray Mysterio wrestle
as long as Ray Mysterio can wrestle.
Huge Ray Mysterio guy over here.
But I think there might be somebody else added to this.
That's the only reason I can think about this.
And it reminds me kind of
of Survivor Series 2023.
when they announced Randy Orton would be there.
And it was like, well, why didn't they surprise us with that?
Like, Cody Rhodes was cutting the promo of like, oh, yeah, we, we need our, our, our person for Survivor Series.
Who's our fifth man going to be?
Well, I can tell you that he slithers around like a snake.
And his name rhymes with Mandy Morton, like,
it was so obvious.
Then Randy Orton ended up coming out and it was like, oh, okay.
Like, why did they ruin that surprise?
Oh, after Survivor Series is over?
That's why.
Because CM Punk was the actual big surprise of the night.
So while right now, with a week to go to WrestleMania,
these feel like they were surprises that were spoiled,
I think there's some big surprises that were in store for.
I don't know what they are.
But there's going to be some big surprises.
surprises. So maybe these are being done in order to preserve those big surprises that will happen.
I'm just spitball in here. But I'm with you that at least one of those, demon Finn Baller,
I would have liked to have seen that be a surprise. And I feel like also with demon Finn Baller
being a surprise, if we're talking K-Fabe here, if we're talking within the storylines,
well, Dirty Dom can't prepare for the demon because he was
preparing for Finn Ballard this whole time.
Dominic Mysterio doesn't even know the demon.
Dominic Mysterio hasn't been part of the judgment day with the demon.
The demon hasn't competed in three years.
WrestleMania 39, Los Angeles.
By the way, the demon lost that match.
So the demon has to make up for this.
Finn Baller's main roster record as the demon, by the way,
six wins, two losses.
His losses come to Roman reigns,
and edge.
And like I said,
the last time he was a demon
was a loss to edge.
Very interested to see
what the surprises
are going to be
at WrestleMania.
Peter Chong on Spotify says,
What's up, CVV?
Thanks for keeping me company
on my drive to work
every Tuesday, Thursday,
and Friday.
Now that the WrestleMania card
is set,
which night are you most excited for?
So as of this week,
the card is set.
Not the order of the card, although I guess we know when some of the matches are going to be,
but we know which matches are on night one.
We know which matches are on night two.
We also know which matches are going to be free on ESPN.
So let's run this down here.
Night one, the free matches for that first hour on ESPN2 for the first night.
On the second night, it's ESPN.
But ESPN 2, the first two matches that will be free before we get to the main card.
Drew McIntyre, Jacob Faw 2, and then we got L, A, Knight, L.
And the Uso's versus Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and I Show Speed.
That's the match, I feel like, is going to have a surprise of Tom Brady finding his way into this match,
screwing Logan Paul, maybe doing something there.
I feel like that's the match we get.
And of course, Jacob Fah 2 and Drew McIntyre, that's an unsanaganer, that's an unsanagan.
match. We've also, on night one, got Stephanie Vakere versus Liv Morgan, A.J. Lee versus Becky
Lynch. The Irresistible Forces versus Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss versus Bailey and Lyra Valkyria
versus the Bella Twins. We've also got Seth Rollins versus Gunther and the main event, Cody Rhodes
versus Randy Orton with Pat McAfee. Night two, as predicted last week by me, the free
match, Obafemi versus Brock Lesnar, and also, my goodness, this match feels too good to be giving away for free.
For the six-pack ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, Penta, Javan,
Evans, Dragon League, Jady McDonough, Roussev, and Ray Mysterio.
Oh, man.
Then we get to, I guess, when you got to watch it on the app, Jade Cargill versus
Ria Ripley, Sammy Zane versus Trick Williams.
The Demon versus Dominic Mysterio and C.M. Punk versus Roman Reins.
I still feel like there's room for one more match here on night two. Night one has seven matches.
Night two has six matches. But as it stands right now, I think match two looks incredible.
Like it's from start to finish here. This looks just great. And I don't even know which match they're starting out with.
Whether that match is Obafemi versus Brock Lezor, whether that match is Obafemi versus Brock Lezor, whether that match
as the IC ladder match, man, what a way to kick off night too. And then of course we know it
ends with CM Punk and Roman Raines. And I think my prediction will come true here that Roman
Raines becomes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the first time. But I think one more
match could be added there. What could that match? What could that match be? I'm thinking
Eoskai versus Oskah, which would continue to tip the scales for night two, in my opinion.
But man, I think they're both really good here.
But night two for me, that's my pick.
Zane on Instagram says, hey, Chris, hope you and your family are doing great.
My question to you is, do you think Paul Heyman could switch corners at WrestleMania and make
Obafemi, his new leader of the Vision.
We've seen him switch corners multiple times.
So could it be the missing piece of the Vision's storyline?
I love your podcast and can't wait to listen to the whole Ask CVV on Friday.
Best wishes from the UK, Zane.
I think that's a real possibility here.
Also, interesting fact, this is the first time in, I believe it's six years, that Paul
Heyman is not part of the main event at a WrestleMania. Wild. Like he is the
manager of champions. I think it's really possible here that Paul Heyman turns on Brock Lezzer.
Whether that turn happens at WrestleMania, although that could make a lot of sense. Like
it would explain how Brock Lezler could lose that match. But I think with that being done,
I just don't know if it helps Obafemi. If Obufemi, if Obufemone, if Obufement,
needs the help from somebody else in order to win the match,
how dominant is he really?
And I think the whole purpose of the build-up to this
and the whole point of this match
is to make Obafemi just seem absolutely unstoppable.
Here's another really interesting thing to think about
with this match, Obafemi versus Brock Leser.
They have not spoken one single word to each other.
And it's the match that I'm most excited for.
It's the match that I know a lot of people.
are most excited for.
And it just shows this like
good old fashioned storytelling.
The fact that it hasn't been like
a promo and then another promo
and then another promo and then another promo
it's just like going out there
and just like Obafemi laying Brock Lesnar out.
Obafemi laying lots of people out
and just continuing
this idea that Obafemi cannot be beat.
So I actually think if Paul Heyman is going to turn on Brock Lezor,
it happens in this projected match,
this much talked about match that could happen at SummerSlam.
If we get Gunther versus Brock Leznor at SummerSlam in Minneapolis,
feels like that could be the time.
And like, Gunther doesn't care how he wins.
Like he's the ultimate, like old school heels.
Ah, you want to turn on Brock Lezzer?
I don't care.
Sure.
Sounds great.
I'll pick up the one, two, three win from there.
But I just think that Obafemi is going to win this
either like completely clean or like in a,
maybe there's like a distraction or something like that.
But like I don't think he wins this in like a nefarious way
because I don't think that that helps to build up Obafemi.
I still think Obafemi picks up the win here.
And I think he picks it up in dominant fashion.

Times ticking.
I think you can feel the intensity.
All the guys are wanting to really take their claim, and they want to be on that World Cup roster.
There's no doubt about it.
Hosting the World Cup on the home soil comes with its pressures, but we're just really excited just as the people are.

Rusty Roadhouse on X says, did you guys move the whole bed out of the way to make room for Paul
White to sit? I'm so glad you noticed this. Yes, we moved everything out of the way to make room
for that interview. So we recorded this at Squared Circle Expo in Indianapolis two weeks ago.
I did five interviews that weekend. This has become one of the biggest wrestling conventions in
the United States. RussellCon is huge.
Russell Con is also during WrestleMania weekend.
So, like, everybody's already in town.
But the fact that, like, in the Midwest, everybody travels in for Squared Circle Expo.
This is the sixth one they did this year, and it's huge.
Russell Kate's also huge.
I'm not taking away from any of these other ones.
Big event is also huge.
But, like, when you talk about the Midwest, and I have a soft spot in my heart for the
Midwest because I lived in Ohio for almost six years.
and the Midwest in general is so drivable.
So when you put something there,
it brings people in from all over.
So I did five interviews there,
and because it's become so popular,
and they host this at the Wyndham Hotel
right by the airport,
it's so hard to get a room there.
Rooms sell out like months in advance.
So I think I confirmed that I was going to be there
like early January,
and I went to reserve a room
and they were sold out on Friday night.
So you could get a room.
I got there on Thursday.
The convention's Friday and Saturday.
I got there Thursday.
So I had a room for Thursday.
Did not have a room for Friday and had a room for Saturday.
And then I left on Sunday morning.
So I kind of had to do some finagling to make this all work because I knew I'd be recording
some interviews.
At that point in time, I didn't know who or how many, but I knew I'd be recording some
interviews.
So I usually reserve a suite there.
It's a little bit larger.
Comes with like a couch and two chairs.
You've seen me do interviews in that room with Mr. Kennedy,
with Brooklyn Brawler, with Mark Henry, with Snitsky.
So that room, I've got that room year after year after year.
That room was not available because this convention is so popular in rooms that sold out.
I ended up getting an even larger suite.
for Thursday night and I got again a large suite where we could set up everything for Saturday
night but for Friday night there were still no rooms available and I like checked on the website
like every single day so one day one room came available and it was a single king room one bed
and I was traveling with my good buddy Jamil so I'm like hey man
we'll have to figure this out, whether we share the bed, whether I sleep on the floor,
whatever it is, we do have a room, but we only have one bed.
So I had three reservations going into Indianapolis, a reservation for Thursday night that
ended Friday morning, a reservation that started Friday afternoon and went till Saturday
morning, and then a third reservation that went from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning
because checkouts like 11 check-in is then three because it takes some time to clean the room
and turn everything over.
So there are a lot of components we were working with here.
I did an interview with Billy Gunn on Thursday night, which was amazing.
We had nothing but time to set that up for the interview.
It's a great chat.
Can't wait for you to hear that in a few weeks.
Friday morning, the convention starts at 4 p.m.
So we had all a Friday morning to figure this out.
Friday morning.
we had Jimmy Wang Yang,
who was a great, great interview.
Jimmy Wang Yang drove in from Atlanta,
like an eight-hour drive
and didn't get there to like 20 minutes before our interview at 9 o'clock.
So Jimmy Wang Yang is there on like very little sleep.
Great conversation.
Set that one up.
Carlito was next.
And I mess with Carlito and I said,
hey, if we can request a later checkout time,
We're all set up and ready to go.
Carlito was supposed to come in to, like, start the interview with us at like 12.30.
And I was like, could you come in at 11?
He's like, yeah, sure.
Yeah, that's cool.
Called down, requested a later checkout.
They said, no problem.
We had until 12 o'clock.
So Carlito came, did the interview while we were already set up after the Jimmy Wang Yang interview.
That was great.
Then we had to pack up and move to another room.
So three interviews down, two to go.
Had to move to our smaller room.
I asked at the front desk.
I said, is there anything else available?
They said, we've been completely sold out for months.
I said, I will take whatever you have.
They said, well, we can move you to a room that's only like a few rooms over from yours to make the move as easy as possible.
I said, that's amazing.
Thank you so much.
We open up the door to get into the room and it's literally just a bed.
Like, there's no room for anything else.
Just a bed.
So what are we going to do?
We ended up moving two of the chairs from the suite.
over to this room because that room didn't have two chairs for us to sit in. So sorry, Windham Airport West.
In Indianapolis, we took some of the chairs and put them into a room where they weren't supposed to be.
And then we picked up the bed frame, picked up the box spring, picked up the mattress, and moved it all.
The box spring was in the bathroom. The mattress was propped up against the window.
things were everywhere.
It was an absolute mess in there.
And the interview with Big Show was that night
after the Friday night convention.
We started at like, I think, 11 p.m.
with Big Show.
And he walked in, didn't say a word about it.
Also, when Big Show walks into a room,
he has to duck to get through the doorway.
And like, he is massive.
It cannot be overstated how big the Big Show really is.
Like, what a fitting name for a man who is seven feet tall.
And again, what a great conversation that was.
So, yes, everything was moved out of the way.
It was not the most ideal shooting situation, certainly not the worst.
We've had much, much worse situations.
I think the worst in recent memory was the interview with Ria Ripley last year was in one of
the smallest New York City hotel rooms I've ever been in.
And same thing.
Had to prop the bed up against the wall.
Had to take the bed frame and put it somewhere else.
and she's sitting in front of like an air conditioning unit,
and I'm sitting in front of this window.
Not a great-looking shop, but hey, it's Ria Ripley.
And when WWE says, yes, the interview can happen,
but it needs to be within this hotel.
And that hotel had literally one room available
because it was Fanatics Fest and everything was sold out.
I said, I'll take whatever you have.
Let's do it.
Then the next day we moved to another room.
It was much larger.
I did an interview there with Brian Myers.
You'll be seeing those other four interviews
in the next few weeks as they start to come out.
We'll also be doing a bunch of interviews next week in WrestleMania,
but dusty roadhouse on X.
I think you're the only person to point that out.
A lot of people pointed out that the wallpaper behind Paul White's head
kind of looked like Easter, like bunny ears,
which was kind of funny because Easter was just a few days before that.
But yes, we moved everything out of the,
way to make this work, and that is not uncommon.
In fact, the other interviews that we recorded that week in Indianapolis, we were moving
couches, and there was a Murphy bed in that room, so we flopped the Murphy bed back up into
the wall, and we moved a conference table.
The interview with Liv Morgan yesterday.
That was in like a conference room type of hotel room where, oh, man, we were moving these,
like, tables made out of marble that must have weighed like,
150 pounds.
Me and my buddy Zeus were like,
like pushing them out of the way
so they'd be out of the shot.
This is not uncommon.
It's not like you walk into a room
and there's two chairs facing each other
on a 45 degree angle
with excellent lighting
that's just like set up for an interview.
There is a lot of furniture moving
that happens with this stuff.
Eric Williver
sent this in on Chrisfanfley.com
and said,
with Jericho bringing back the list on his second appearance of 2026 in AEW.
And on his return, I thought it felt very reminiscent of the WW return when he came out
and was all smiling and fun and never said a word, although he did eventually talk in that
AEW return.
My question is, do you think this new gimmick will just be rerunning an old gimmick every single
week?
Chris Jericho bringing back the list of Jericho is a really interesting move because Chris
Jericho's whole thing has not been playing the greatest hits. His whole thing has been about reinventing
himself, a new character, a new gimmick, just a whole new approach. In fact, he told me when he was on
the show that when he came back to WWE in 2007, he wanted, like, he made it clear, like,
I'm not Y2J. Do not reference Y2J. If the fans chant it, which they will, that's fine,
but like don't say it on commentary. I'm not calling it.
myself that, I'm not that character anymore. And that's kind of who Chris Jericho's been.
He's been about David Bowie is his main inspiration. And you look at David Bowie, every record,
it's completely, every album I should say, completely different version of himself.
It's interesting that Chris Jericho is going back to something that he knows works,
especially coming off of the learning tree, which I think Chris Jericho kind of hinted at in this most
recent promo that he cut on dynamite where like, not everything works. And like, there have been some
stinkers out there. And I think that's what he's referencing. The list was great. And the list is so
over. Like, you can make a real strong argument that the list was like one of the things that's like
one of his best gimmicks, especially like, oh, man, the Kevin Owens thing. Oh, so good. The festival of
friendship. How come my name's on this? And then he lifts up the list, the big reveal, the list of
K.O. So good. I'd like to see where this goes with Jericho. Because I don't know if it's a new gimmick
every single week. And I don't even know if he could do that. Although, you know, maybe you see the pain maker
in there at some point in time, but maybe he just keeps going with the list. The list is over. The list works.
Why not do the list? It was fun to see that return.
on on Wednesday fun to see the pen click again.
Did you hear that?
I got a pen click.
So I'm sitting here right now.
But I think that when Chris Jericho does something,
a lot of thought goes into it.
I don't think he's the type of person that half has as anything.
So as this leads into that match with Rickashay,
I think we'll, I think it's more of the list.
I guess we'll see.
You got this, mate.
On Spotify says,
Hi, CVV, I'm soon to be a real, real, real one next week.
I can't wait to see you in Las Vegas next week.
With the MLB season finally underway,
I know you're a Toronto Blue Jays fan.
I am a Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
Last year's World Series was an all-time classic.
My question for you is,
did you watch the World Series to you,
did it feel like, my question for you is,
did the World Series, to you,
feel like an all-time wrestling match?
I love when life imitates wrestling or vice versa.
That World Series was so good
that it honestly reminded me of Roman versus Sammy
at Elimination Chamber, 2023,
the powerhouse versus the underdog.
I think you're right.
Sports is always at its best
when there's a story we can sink our teeth into.
And I think sports is at its best
when you look at it,
and even if that's not your team,
that's in there. Even if your team didn't even make the playoffs this year, you can go, yeah,
but I really want this team to win. Man, I really want the Blue Jays to win. I'm so sick of the Los Angeles
Dodgers. I mean, if you're looking at this from a wrestling standpoint, baby face versus
heel, and the Blue Jays were most definitely the baby faces here, even if you're not from Canada,
even if you don't like baseball or the Blue Jays, the Blue Jays in that scenario for most people
outside of Los Angeles or Southern California,
people were rooting on the Blue Jays
just because they didn't want to see the Dodgers go back to back.
Especially with like,
it's almost like,
we were just talking about the corporations,
almost like that.
Like the team that spends the most money
is the team that wins.
Like that's the team you just want to root against.
Yankees and Dodgers, like, have that a lot in Major League Baseball.
But man, it's just so heartbreaking.
I was watching the game the other day.
I was watching, yeah, it was Blue Jays the other day.
Blue Jays has gotten mollywamped.
And they were playing back highlights of that game seven of the World Series.
And it's just like, oh, man,
how'd we relive that game over and over again as it just kept,
they kept showing the highlights.
If you just,
if you just broke for home plate,
half a second earlier,
Blue Jays would have won.
Although,
if you remember,
your allegiances here, if you remove the teams that you cheer for, that's one of the greatest
world series games of all time. Game seven of the 2025 World Series, so good. And like just that
world series in general, like so many games going to extra inning, so many like really close games.
A lot of like a lot of great stories, a lot of great stats for that. So yes, I can agree with you
on that. I would just wish.
It would have been so nice to see the Blue Jays win the World Series.
It's always next year.
It's always next year, right?
Nate Hindle sent this one in on Chris Vanfleet.com.
Nate says, hey, Chris, I have a question for Ask CVV,
number 130 times I've wanted to break my TV because of Cody Rhodes edition.
That's a new one, Nate.
I have a Mount Rushmore for you.
What is your Mount Rushmore of Mid-Carter's?
Because I feel like this has a lot of options,
and Mid-Carders are crucial in the sport,
and they help add more stories
and allow the fans to feel more emotion.
I hope you keep up the great work,
as your podcast always helps me get through the week, Nate.
Nate, I appreciate the question,
and I'm with you.
I think that Mid-Carders are crucial to wrestling.
Carrying Cross actually pointed this out
when he was on the show like two years ago,
and he said, like, when you really think about it,
there's only room for so many people at the top.
Like if you're not fighting for the title,
like you're not really getting a push.
I'm paraphrasing here,
but that's basically what he said.
And it's true.
When you look at it,
if you look at the title picture right now
or the main event picture right now,
there's four or five, six guys,
four, five, six women.
And that's it.
And even people that could be contending
in the main event aren't right now.
Like Becky Lynch is a perfect example of that.
she's made the Intercontinental Championship feel like it means a lot.
John Cena did a great job of that with the U.S. title.
And I'm by no means saying that John Cena is a mid-carder or that Becky Lynch is a mid-carder.
But I think we can all agree those are mid-card titles.
So when we're thinking here about a mid-card Mount Rushmore, we're really talking here about
who made the mid-card feel important.
Who makes the mid-card feel important?
We're not talking about people who were great mid-carders and then escape the mid-card to become a main eventer.
We're talking about people who through and through their mid-carders.
They did not win a world title in a major company.
Maybe they had matches for world titles, but they never became a world champion in a major company.
So four people here.
I'm going to kick things off with Scott Hall.
because as Razor Ramon, he defined in the mid-90s, the WWF mid-card and like just a cool factor of it.
Multiple icy title reigns that felt elite, like at some points maybe even felt like they meant as much as the winged eagle.
He made the latter match, a career-defining mid-card attraction.
Like, that's an interesting point here.
You think a lot about like the mid-card is like the play.
place for ladder matches, a tag team ladder matches, of course, with TLC matches.
You don't think a lot about ladder matches for the world title.
Of course, they have happened before, but WrestleMania next weekend is a perfect example.
Intercontinental Championship, six-pack ladder match.
First time in 10 years, the Intercontinental Championship has been in a ladder match.
I'm going to go Scott Hall.
I know that Scott Hall in the NWO, it's a mid- not a mid-card faction.
that's a main event faction,
but I think that Razor Ramon,
and Scott Hall's also the answer to like the person
you can't believe never won a world title.
Mr. Perfect, number two,
the perfect like upper mid-card heel,
a guy that could work with the main eventers,
but also a guy who like,
when he held the IC title, it felt important.
And I, how did Mr. Perfect,
Kurt Henning, not hold a world title in WCW or WWF.
I know, yes, before you get in the comment,
I know he won the AWA World Heavyweight title,
but I think when we talk about the big companies,
we're talking about WCW, WW, TNA, AW, NWA.
I think that's what we're talking about here.
I think that Mr. Perfect not being a world champion,
does not make sense. But it's great, though, that he could have insane matches with someone
like Hulk Hogan, someone like Brett Hart, Ultimate Warrior, but at the same time, also have
great matches with rookies and make them look like a million bucks. Like, that is, I think,
the epitome of being a great mid-Carter is the ability to work with anybody.
Shelton Benjamin, my number three on this Mount Rushmore, a guy so athletic, has the ability
to put on great matches wherever it is on the card,
whether it's the opening match,
whether it's the main event,
whether it's with a Hall of Famer like Sean Michaels,
you name it.
And I think he also has the ability to be great in a tag team,
be great in a faction,
also be great on his own.
Love Shelton Benjamin.
Love that he's still doing it at the highest level now,
still looks like he's in tremendous shape,
like the same shape, like the guy has not aged.
And he still wrestles the same.
way. Like he hasn't lost a step at all. Would have loved to see Shelton Benjamin in that main
event spot. Would have loved to see him contending for the title more often than he was.
But my goodness, when you talk about midcard, the word that's always attached is underrated or
underappreciated. And I think that that's something you definitely think about with Shelton
Benjamin. I know there's a lot of other people that you think about like underrated, underappreciated,
like Dolph Ziegler, but hey, Dolph Ziegler won his fair share of world titles.
The Miz, same thing.
Mr. Money in the Bank, won the WWE title twice, walked into WrestleMania with the
World Title or with the WWE title, walked out of WrestleMania with the world title.
The only person, I believe, to beat John Sina, right, to retain against John Sina.
MIS definitely not amid Carter.
So one more spot here.
one more spot that I personally on my Mel Rushmore, which I can only have four spots on,
I'm going to give that spot to Owen Hart.
Maybe the best pure wrestler ever to live in the midcard.
And like he just embraced that.
Like, and I think that you can say, oh, yeah, Brett was the better wrestler, but it's like,
I don't know.
Was he?
Like, or was his character just better?
Did he just have more of a character to sink his teeth into?
You talk about underrated, underappreciated, man, Owen Hart.
And just so tragic when you think about how his career ended.
Crazy.
But Owen Hart, I think, does not get enough respect at all.
And, like, played that mid-card role, like, to a T.
So there you go.
That's my four when you talk about, like, people that make the mid-card feel important.
People who stayed within the midcard.
Sure, a world title match here and there,
but were typically midcard or upper midcard there.
Laura sent this one in on Chris VanFlea.com and says,
Hey, Chris, I've been really liking the podcast,
especially the Ask CVV episodes.
I have a question for the podcast.
Which do you think will happen first?
All right, I like this.
Tiffany wins a different title.
ref Jessica Carr gets a match with Becky
or Austin Theory
turns on the vision.
I suppose if you want, you could also answer
as to which one you would rather have happened.
Thanks for making such a cool podcast
and shout out for being a T. Swift fan as well.
Laura.
Yeah, not afraid to admit of a bit of a swifty
style, my favorite song.
We listen to a fairer
amount of Taylor Swift, although she hasn't been on the playlist in a while.
Been just a lot of Danny Go on children's music.
But when the 10-minute version of All Too Well comes on on Spotify, I do not switch the song.
Even if I'm in the middle of a workout, I'll listen to that song.
So good.
Which one do I think will happen first?
I think of the three options you've given me here, I think Tiffany winning a different title
is the one that happens first.
It seems like she's not in the main event picture right now.
And the fact that she doesn't have a match at WrestleMania, I think also speaks to that.
So I think that Tiffany winning the Intercontinental Championship or the U.S. title or even, hey,
even winning the tag team title, that feels like a real possibility here over the other two.
I don't even know if Austin Theory is going to turn on the vision.
I think that they'll beat some dissension within the vision at some point in time.
I don't know if it's Austin theory that's turning there.
I would love to see it happen.
I think that Austin theory needs to completely embrace being a baby face.
Because like, Austin, the guy, is like one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
I've known him now for like seven or eight years.
Worked on indie shows with him.
Blueprint Pro Wrestling in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
I was the ring announcer.
Ring announced a lot of people there, like Darby Allen.
Billy gun, a young Austin gun, worked with Austin Theory a few times there.
I think that if he could fully lean into being the great guy that he is, not even a good guy,
not even a babyface.
Just if he could lean into being that version of him, it'd be impossible not to like him.
Tiffany Stratton has not held anything except for the WWE Women's Championship, which she held
for almost a year.
And then before that, the NXT Women's Championship.
That's it.
she's only ever held those two titles in her entire wrestling career.
I think that at some point in time this year,
I think we see her contending for and probably winning one of those mid-card titles,
or maybe put into a tag team match here and winning the tag team title.
But that's going to be my pick there.
Ref Jessica Carr getting a match with Becky, I just think that seems unlikely.
It's a nice idea, and I think it's something that we can talk about online.
But I just don't see that one happening.
I think instead that Jessica Carr has just kind of become this like punching bag for the
Becky Lynch heel character.
But I,
a referee having a match now and like just a match unless there's some,
something else going on there.
Like when I think of the rough matches that have happened in the past,
it's been like a six-man match and like there's a ref thrown in there like my Kyoto giving
the referee's elbow.
Classic.
or like Charles Robinson and WCW,
taking a massive elbow drop off the top from macho man,
which I think broke his ribs, right?
Charles told a great story about that on the show.
Broke his ribs, put him in the hospital for weeks.
I just can't see this one-on-one match happening.
So I'm going Tiffany Stratton, winning a different title.
Will's underscore treasure on Instagram says,
Hey, CVV, real, real, real one here.
Would you rather?
We love a good, would you rather?
Would you rather take a stunner from Stone Cold Steve Austin?
What?
Or the people's elbow from the rock.
Wow.
You got two of my guys here.
You know I love the rock.
You know, I throw a mean rock bottom.
But I think if I had the choice here.
How am I taking the people's album?
Am I just laying there?
Or if there are a rock bottom or a spine buster to lead into that?
I don't have to think maybe spine buster to lead into that.
But if I have the option here, I am 100% taking the stone cold stutter.
Mostly because the move is, yes, about Austin giving the move and boom, it hits you.
But it's also now, especially at this stage of,
of Stone Cold's career. It's also about the guy taking it. And I'm not saying I would do an over-the-top
sell, but like, you have a moment there. When you take the stunner, everybody's looking for what's
he going to do? How is he going to sell it? Is he going to sell it like serious, like Brett Hart,
like very authentic? Is it going to sell it like Montez Ford? It's like the stiff as a board,
then fall over? Is it going to sell it like Austin Theory, where you jump 40 feet in the
Air. Pat McAfee, same thing, jumping backwards, spraying the beer. There's so many great cells.
The rock flopping all over the ring. Scott Hall with the jump up and then back. I can't excels.
And that's why I think I would personally want to take the stunter because it also becomes about
the person taking it, not just the person giving it. When you think about the people's elbow,
there's no fun way to take that. You're just taking it. Like there's fun things.
that can happen like the Undertaker sits up, the rock kicks him back down, boom, lays down with
people's elbow.
If you smell with the rock cooking, the rock sliding with the shoes, which I believe was a mistake.
Can't wait to have the rock on the show, hopefully one day to ask him about that.
But I believe he was just like running so fast and realized that if he didn't slide, he was going
to slip wearing those dress shoes.
There's fun things that can happen.
But the people's elbow is all about the rock.
So I'm going, I am going stone, cold.
Stunner.
Not J.P. Jet on Instagram.
Hey, CVV.
What's your Mount Rushmore of upset wins at WrestleMania?
Lots of love.
JP from Newcastle, Australia.
The biggest upsets at WrestleMania.
I love all the nostalgic WrestleMania talk,
especially since we're a week away from WrestleMania.
So give me lots of WrestleMania questions for next week as well.
Of course, we'll run down the entire card next week.
Of course, I'll give you all of my predictions for WrestleMania 42.
We'll talk about what surprises we might see,
but let's talk about the 41 WrestleMania's that came before it as well.
The biggest upsets.
Fondongo beating Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 is the first one that pops into my head.
And Chris Jericho's book, Noah is a four-letter one.
word is a fantastic book. I just actually recently listened to the audio book. And it's Chris
Jericho reading the book and basically in your ear just like telling you these stories.
And he talks about how he thought it was a rib, like how he thought Vince McMahon was joking
when he told him that. And the way Jericho tells the story is fantastic. But like, this is not
what was pitched to him, what ended up happening. But you can't deny.
that Fondongo was so over in the weeks leading up to that match.
One of the most over people at WrestleMania 29,
and then the night after WrestleMania,
the raw after WrestleMania,
like was just a Fandango takeover.
The whole crowd there,
that was one of the wildest raw after WrestleMania crowds ever.
And I think they were just hyped up because of Fondongo.
But that's,
got to be the one that immediately pops into my head for sure.
Zach Ryder winning the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 32.
And again, crazy to think that that was the last time that the Interconital Championship
was in a ladder match.
But like, when you think about Zach Ryder, who was just like, put into this match at the
last second, he wasn't even supposed to be in this match.
He was replacing.
he was replacing Neville, who had an injury and couldn't be in the match,
sprang in his ankle.
So Ryder's kind of like an afterthought here.
Zach Ryder's just put in his match of like,
he's just going to fill this spot that Neville can't fill.
So him winning that was a shock, an upset, an upset, whatever you want to call it.
Also, on top of that, Zach Ryder hadn't even like been in singles contention for like
four years after he had this push that just ended when he got pushed off the ramp by
cane and the wheelchair. So him winning there was like just a huge, huge shocker. I'll give you an
interesting pick here, a deep cut, if you will. We actually, we were just talking about him.
Owen Hart beating Brett Hart at Russellmania 10, like really unexpected and like showed that
Owen could step out of Brett's shadow.
And before Brett could, like, get the WWE championship opportunity that was owed to him
because of his victory in the 1994 Royal Rumble, he had to kick off Russellmania 10 with
this grudge match against his brother, Owen Hart.
And I think that people just, like, expected Bright Hart to just go into Madison
Square Garden, like, absolutely just, like, roll through Owen Hart.
There was a big story that was told into this.
Like there was the betrayal here and like Brett Hart had his knee injured and his heart broken.
And I just thought that like, Brett Hart's going to win this, right?
And instead that's not what happened.
So like Owen Hart getting the huge upset win here.
Yeah, that was unexpected.
But then later on that night in the main event, Brett Hart defeats Yokozuna, becomes the
WWF champion.
Roddy Piper as a special guest referee.
so like it didn't really matter what happened in the opening match at that point in time like
Owen got a win at WrestleMania 10.
Brett Hart not only got a win but won the championship.
Like it all made sense there.
And then finally, I think you know where I'm going with this one.
How have I already listed off three matches without the biggest shocking moment in WrestleMania history
when it comes to the outcome of a match?
WrestleMania 30,
Brock Lesnar,
ending the Undertaker streak.
Nobody saw that coming.
And I think when you get to that point
where it was, you know,
it's 15 and 0, 16 and 0, 17 and 0,
they started making the streak a thing.
Because for a while there was just like,
the Undertaker's like in some of these matches
that don't really mean a lot
or don't really amount to much.
When they started making the streak feel like a thing,
15 and 0, 16, no, 17, no, 20, you know.
It's like, especially when he's up against people like Sean Michaels,
career versus streak, when it started like meaning something,
it's like, he's going to retire with that streak, isn't he?
He's unbeatable.
Why would someone ever beat The Undertaker?
Boom.
WrestleMania 30.
The streak is over.
To quote Michael Cole.
Shocking.
I've told you many times that I was there.
You could hear a pin drop.
People thought it was a mistake.
I'm sure watching it home,
you thought it was a mistake too.
I think the pause between one, two, three
and Brock Leisure's music hitting really also sold that,
sold that shock,
sold that possibility of it being an error.
But massive upset.
And I still to this day,
don't think it was the right decision.
It also kind of negated the loss three years later.
Roman Raines ends up beating Undertaker,
WrestleMania 33.
A match that Taker said like that,
he wanted that to be his final match.
And you remember he left his gear in the ring?
And it wasn't his final match.
So I think that it,
like that would have been if it,
if that truly was the Undertaker's final match.
And he went into that match,
WrestleMania 33 in Orlando,
undefeated,
the streak was still intact and he beat and got beat, I should say, by Roman Raines,
and then left his gear in the ring and truly walked away and retired.
Boy, that would have been meaningful.
That would have meant a lot.
But with the way that everything was, I would have loved to see Bray Wyatt and the streak.
It would be like a wonderful passing of the torch moment.
It would have been great.
Trevor Patterson 89 on Instagram says,
hey, CVV, other than bass fishing, what is another random fact about you that we might not know of or that you might not have talked about publicly?
Bass fishing is definitely a random one.
I think I've talked about this before.
I was in a band in high school and college.
Not great band.
Two bands.
One band was in high school.
One band was in college.
Not great.
I played guitar and sang backup.
I've talked about that before.
I'm looking at my guitar right now.
which I've told you guys stories about.
I think I've mentioned,
I mentioned in the Drew McIntyre interview
that we're moving to Nashville soon.
And when I think about
Nashville and I think about music
and I look at my guitar right now,
I can't wait to hang that guitar on my wall.
I think I should want to get a new guitar.
A new acoustic guitar when I get to Nashville.
So if you have any great acoustic guitar suggestions,
I don't want to spend like a crazy amount
but if you have any
relatively affordable
guitars with a great sound
please
leave a comment on Spotify and let me know
I'll tell you a random fact about me
that I've never talked about
I love Wordle
and I'm sure there's a lot of people listening
that are into Wordle. I start
every day with Wordle.
I had talking about the Undertaker
and a streak, I had
one heck of a streak
going with Wordle until last week
I was like,
I was like, it was close to 100.
I was like 97 or something.
And then that streak ended because I just,
I didn't get the word.
But I had another streak like a few months ago
where I just forgot to do it.
I was traveling.
It was on an airplane,
which is silly because usually on an airplane,
I would find the time to do the wordle.
If you don't know what wordal is,
it's a game where you put,
in a five-letter word. You're trying to guess a five-letter word. You have six tries to get it.
If you have a letter that's in the right spot, it lights up green. If you have a letter that is
a correct letter, but in the wrong spot, it's yellow. I can't believe I'm explaining
wordle. I'm sure if you know about wordle, you know exactly what I'm talking about here. Fizzy was the
word that got me the other day. Fizzy. Well, that, my friend, was the final question.
That was our final question on this. Ask CVV.

I'll send you into the weekend with this quote from Martin Luther King.
If you can't fly, then run.
If you can't run, then walk.
If you can't walk, then crawl.
But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.
Be great and be grateful, my friends.
We will see you on the next.

Jim Rome takes on sports.
Why? Because I have a job to do.
With rapid fire takes. So I don't
want to hear from you lava pigs
on this notion today. No idea
what you're talking about. You're complaining
more than you like to breathe air.
It's like you get up in the morning only to complain and cry and moan on social media
about things that you don't even understand.
He's the spitfire of sports smack.
Take advantage of it, but get up in here.
