Chris.
Oh, yes, Insight with Chris Van Bleet.
Welcome back to another one here on Insight.
I'm CVV.
Chris Van Fleet, welcome to AskCV number 28,
the Adrian Peterson edition.
So famous for wearing 2-8 on the back and front of that jersey.
Thank you for being with us.
Thank you, as always, for making Insight,
one of the top wrestling podcasts on the planet.
And if you keep showing up like you've been showing up over these last handful of months,
and if you keep following the show, like you've been following the show over these last
handful of months, there is no question that in the next few weeks, maybe a few months,
I will be saying thank you for making Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet.
We're so close.
but we will be there very soon.
If this is your first time on an Ask CVV episode,
I appreciate you.
Take off your coat.
Stay a while.
It's pretty simple, how these work.
You send in your questions either on social media
using that hashtag Ask CVV
or you email them in.
CVV at chrisfanfleet.com
and we will get to as many of these as we can.
We're going to talk a little rassling, of course.
We might even talk about bass fishing.
So, yeah, we're going to dive in a whole bunch of stuff.
Some food stuff here, but lots of WW talk, lots of AEW talk.
And just I want to shout out Downstate before we dive into this.
Yes, they are the band who plays the theme song for Cody Rhodes, Kingdom.
Wow.
And of course, they do the theme songs for previously Dolph Ziegler, currently Nick Nemith,
the Miz's current theme song, Matt Cardona, so many other people.
And yes, they do the theme song for Insight with Chris Van Fleet.
They just hit one million monthly listeners on Spotify.
So a huge congratulations to my buddies at Downstate.
And obviously, thank you because I'm sure if you're listening to this right now,
you've listened to Kingdom more than a handful of times, if you're anything like me.
So again, shout out the Downstate and a huge congratulations on that huge milestone there.
Let's dive into this. We'll start with Marcus O'Neill on Instagram.
What's up, Chris? What did you think of the Jack Perry and Tony Con segment that ended Dynamite this week?
I remember Tony saying in your interview in 2019 that he didn't want to become an on-screen character.
Well, I think that what Tony meant by that is he didn't want to be like a weekly character like Mr. McMahon or a weekly character like Eric Bischoff was or like a weekly character like an authority figure.
what happened on Dynamite, I thought was a compelling way to end the show.
And it also makes Jack Perry more interesting than I think he's ever been in his entire career.
The guy has so much confidence on the mic now and turning on Tony Con and joining the elite,
it makes you need to tune in now to next Wednesday on Dynamite.
And with great love and great respect for AEW,
I don't know if there's been a dynamite that has left with like a cliffhanger like this
that's made you need to tune in the next week to go, okay, well, like, explain this to me.
What happens now?
So we've got a whole week to wildly speculate, as wrestling fans love to do.
But I would say that the whole point of that segment is to at some point down the line,
set up the elite versus Kenny Omega and some sort of baby face faction that he's going to
have when he returns and when he's healthy again. And obviously wishing Kenny Omega a speedy
recovery from that really scary situation that he had in his life and with his health. But I thought,
I mean, I did not see that coming. I saw it coming within the segment, but just in AEW as a whole,
I didn't see Tony Kahn going to be on the receiving end of a gut punch followed by the Meltzer
driver. And like, he took it like a champ. And I.
I just want to point out that I'm recording this on Thursday evening so that it's ready to go.
Friday at midnight Pacific time.
And if you haven't picked up on that yet, every episode of the show, whether it's a Tuesday or a Thursday or a Friday, they drop it midnight Pacific time.
So 3 a.m. East Coast time or whatever the equivalent is in your time zone.
So I'm recording this before the NFL draft.
It would be a huge missed opportunity if Tony Kahn isn't shown on this.
screen when the Jacksonville Jaguars have that pick at number 17, if he's not shown on the
screen with a neck brace, it would be a huge missed opportunity.
And Tony Kahn is a huge lifelong wrestling fan.
He knows.
He gets it.
I would think that if he does make an appearance as part of the NFL draft, you would
think that he would be in K-Fabe and selling this.
So I'm just saying it will have already happened by the time this is airing right now, but I'm
just saying this as I'm sitting here right now, it would be a huge missed opportunity.
So let's let's see if that happens.
I'm going to, I would think, I would think that it would happen.
So we will see.
When number 17, the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock, we'll find out here.
We will see.
The Shermanator underscore 03 on Twitter says, what do you think about Becky Hogan,
winning the battle royal on raw and becoming the women's world heavyweight champion.
Well, let me just start by saying, I hate to say I told you so.
I hate to say I told you so.
All right.
Little Hives reference there.
I predicted this.
Last week when I was asked on Ask CVV number 27 for my picks, I said, I would go with Becky.
And if it's not Becky, it's going to be Liv Morgan or Nia Jacks.
My goodness, did I not only call the winner of it?
of that match and the now current women's world heavyweight champion.
I also called the final three in that match.
So I just wanted to point that out there.
I'm kind of like Nostradamus here.
I don't know.
I felt like it was obvious that one of those three was going to win.
But I don't understand this terrible take on Twitter of Becky Lynch being Becky Hogan
and not wanting to put people over.
It just wild, wild to me.
In the last two years,
just off the top of my head,
she put over Ria Ripley.
She put over Ria Ripley three weeks ago.
Bianca Belair, Nia Jax,
Zoe Stark,
and Laia Valquira.
Plus, she hasn't won
a singles women's championship
on the main roster
since 2021.
So I don't know
where this idea came of
that came from
that doesn't work for me,
sister.
I'm Becky Hogan.
I don't put people over.
If you don't like her,
fine.
Totally okay. But let's not make up facts here. Okay, I just listed one, two, three, five people that she's put over and the fact that she hasn't won a singles championship in almost three years. It just doesn't make any sense to me. I don't understand that take. I don't know where that comes from. If you don't like the Becky Lynch character, that's one thing. But let's let's not make stuff up here. I love that Becky won that match and won it in the way that she did.
It made her look so strong.
It was like the fact that she was supposed to go through the announced table and it didn't
work the first time.
And then it didn't work the second time.
And you could see Naya Jacks getting frustrated and finally it works in the third time
while we were in commercial break.
So I thought that it made her look really strong.
And I foresee when Ria Ripley does come back.
It feels to me like this is lining up for a SummerSlam rematch.
That'd be a big match.
So we will see there.
Michigan's own Dave on Instagram.
What's up?
Michigan's own Dave.
Who do you think will have the longest title reign of these people?
Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, Bailey, Becky, Mizan Art Truth, Austin Theory, and Grace and Waller.
I think of that grouping there, I think Cody Rhodes would be the longest of that grouping of people.
And I think he didn't ask me, but I'll give my two cents on it anyway.
I think the shortest of that group will be our truth and Ms.
It's kind of weird.
It's weird to say our truth and Ms.
Right?
Should be Ms. in our truth.
Awesome truth.
I think that Cody Rhodes loses the championship at some point in this calendar year.
So maybe it's Survivor Series.
I just think we're going to get back to a point
where the championship changes hands two or three times a year.
And I said this on the last ask CVV episode,
but it's already changed hands once.
So we've had two champions this year.
And if Cody loses it at some point in this calendar year,
that'd be three.
I think we'll get back to that kind of cadence.
And this is not any sort of inside knowledge.
This is just kind of my gut feeling about it.
I think that when you realize the championship can change hands at any point in time,
starts to make it a little bit more interesting because it did get to a point in time there
with Roman Raines where he was going into a match and you're like, well, I know exactly how
this is going to end. It's going to end with some sort of bloodline interference leading to
Roman Raines retaining the championship. I think we're going to get back to a point here where
Cody could have a match on a non-PLE and you can be like, ooh, is he going to win? Is he? I don't know.
I think we can all agree here that Cody's going to walk out a backlash as the champion,
although I'm pumped about this match.
AJ Stiles versus Cody Rhodes has so many layers to it.
And I hope that they start to dial into these with the storytelling,
although it's a pretty quick turnaround here.
Backlash is next weekend.
So we've got a week and a half to kind of figure this out.
And only I guess that's two shows to really put that story together.
But there's a lot of stuff.
happening with that. And one of the biggest ones is the fact that AJ Stiles wrestled Dusty Rhodes
with the NWA World's Heavyweight Championship on the line in TNA in 2003. So the fact that we could
have AJ Stiles wrestle both Dusty and Cody Rhodes with a championship on the line. That's one
part of the story I like. Also, I'm sure they won't talk about this part, but Cody and AJ
are both former NWA
World's Heavyweight champions.
There's just a lot of stories going on here.
They were both members of the Bullet Club.
There's lots of things that are happening here.
And I'm excited about that match,
but I think we can all kind of agree
that Cody wins that one,
and Cody's reign continues at the very least
until SummerSlam.
But I think into SummerSlam,
he's the champion out of SummerSlam.
He's the champion.
But again, it's April as we record this.
Who knows?
Really anything could happen between now and then.
Bryson Beretta on Facebook says,
who do you model your podcast after?
Because it seems like a lot of people,
including me, are modeling their podcasts after you.
So thank you for paving the way.
Very kind of you, Bryson.
I appreciate that.
It may come as a shock if you're hearing this,
but I don't really listen to wrestling podcasts.
So the podcast that inspire me the most are just great conversations, conversations that dive deep
and conversations where you leave them and you go, oh, man, not only did I learn this thing about
this person, I learned just a great life lesson that I'll now apply to my own life.
So I listen to a lot of School of Greatness.
I think Lewis Howes is a fantastic conversationalist, asks great questions.
The Tim Ferriss Show.
I've been a fan of Tim Ferriss and his work since he published the four-hour work week.
That's a great book if you haven't checked it out.
And it's not really about only working four hours in a week, but it does have a lot of great tactics in it for being just a more efficient worker.
And Tim Ferriss, he's just really great at asking questions about your process.
like what are the things that you do in your day to make you the person that you are now
and what would the process look like before?
He just, he asks a lot of really great questions.
Modern wisdom, Chris Williamson is just so cerebral with the types of questions that he
asks and the kinds of conversations that he has.
And also, depending on the guest, you can't beat Joe Rogan.
But the way that Joe Rogan is able to carry on a.
conversation for two and a half hours, three plus hours, and it just goes by, boom,
like that.
It's so good.
I mean, think of, Joe Rogan's not even really a wrestling fan, but when you think of the
conversations he's had with wrestlers on the show, like The Undertaker, Jake the Snake,
or Diamond Dolls Page, or any of the other pro wrestlers that have been on the show,
it's amazing how insightful those conversations can be, especially.
through the lens of kind of an outsider.
Someone who's, yeah, aware of what wrestling is
and what wrestling's about,
but he doesn't know the ins and the outs
of the specific storylines
and, like, he couldn't tell you
some of that person's, like,
main rivalries or feuds.
But I always find those conversations
so interesting.
So those are four that I'm listening to
pretty regularly.
And I got a shout out, Logan Paul.
The access that he now has
as a WWE superstar
has allowed for the
conversations with with his colleagues, with his fellow WWB superstars to be so good.
And it's amazing. We've had, he's had episodes recently with like Ria Ripley and
with Triple H and Randy Orton and Ray Mysterio. And there's not a lot of other people
aside from Pat McAfee that are getting that kind of access. So when it comes to wrestling
conversations, that's definitely one that I go to.
Douglas Lacky on Facebook says, who is the best wrestling commentator of all time?
And why is it Michael Cole?
I appreciate your false dichotomy of a question here.
Michael Cole is so underrated and I'm glad that he's finally getting his flowers,
27 years into his WWE career.
It's just funny that so many people still associate Michael Cole to that heel character he played
what was that now, like 13 years ago?
Yeah, WrestleMania 27, right?
Yeah.
And Michael Cole now without Vince McMahon in his ear and just giving him the ability to just be free has been, oh my gosh, it's amazing.
And we already knew how good he was.
And over the last, call it, two years, he's just taking it to another level.
And I just feel like he's also reinvigorated by having Pat McAfee as his broadcast partner.
And Pat McAfee has brought out this newfound love for his job that I think that maybe Michael Cole had just, I don't know, maybe he had plateaued for a while.
Maybe he was just doing what he was doing.
And he's, you know, one of the very best.
And maybe he was just like, okay, doing what he was doing.
But Pat McAfee's like reinvigorated something in him.
WWE has done such a good job by putting that announcer camera or play-by-play the commentator camera,
like pointed on whether it's Michael Cole and Pat McAfee or whether it's Corey Graves and
Wade Barrett, whatever it happens to be. Like it's so cool watching their reactions.
And we've talked quite a bit about this. WWE's taken a few things out of UFC's playbook
and vice versa. This one has been such a lot.
a great thing for WWE to take out of UFC's playbook. We've seen the reactions of John Anick and Joe
Rogan and DC like, oh, reacting when there's a big knockout. It's cool seeing the WWE version of that.
And I wish, you know, there's so many amazing WWE moments that if you think back on, like,
how cool would it have been to, well, I was going to say when Undertaker threw mankind
kind of in the cell, but we wouldn't have seen the shot because the announced table got destroyed.
But if you think back to some just legendary moments, and it doesn't need to be just high spots.
It could be like legendary moments like somebody winning their first championship or my goodness,
imagine at WrestleMania 30, if we were able to see what the commentators look like when Undertaker got
pinned by Brock Lesnar and the street got broken, that would have been, it would have been so cool.
So I love that that's now a thing that not only do we get to see the big moment play out on TV or on a PLE,
but then a day later or whatever, we get to go, oh, look at that reaction.
So cool.
So I'm a big Michael Cole fan.
I love how real he makes things feel.
He calls it like it's a sporting event.
And I've been a big fan of that.
and I'm so glad he's getting the recognition
and appreciation that he is now.
He's obviously a future Hall of Famer,
but I hope that he stays around for like a long time.

Zach Williams on Twitter z lw 84 at zlw 84 hey chris faithlead love the show just listen to your recent
ask CVV you mentioned a diet and training regimen that you follow before your 40th birthday i'm turning
40 in august what was that program thank you love the show well first of all zach happy early birthday
I guess we're four months early on this one.
I started my regimen 13 weeks out.
It was like almost exactly 90 days.
So if your birthday's, what, would that be three and a half, four months away?
You've got the ability to start this right now.
I worked with an incredible nutritionist slash coach named AJ Stiles.
I didn't.
What am I talking about here?
AJ Sims.
Could you imagine I worked with AJ Stiles?
Although he's in the best shape of a.
his life. So, man, I wish I could have worked with AJ Styles. Maybe I'd have deltoids that look like
his. I don't know how that guy fits through a doorway now. He's so wide. I worked with an amazing
coach named AJ Sims. And I've talked about this before. He's trained some of the people who
have had incredible transitions. Just go check out his Instagram at Cement Factory. And you'll see what I'm
talking about. But he he's helped to shred up Tomaso Champa and Johnny Gargano, Moose, EC3,
Apollo Cruz,
who else, Elias,
the list goes on and on and on.
He's worked with,
I mean,
I'm missing a ton of people,
but he's worked with so many of them.
I did a full episode
where AJ and I broke everything down.
So you can either find that
or you can look it up on YouTube
if you just type in my name
and AJ Sims or type him
my name and like best shape
or something like that.
You will find it.
It is episode.
I'm looking through the archives here.
episode 480, if you want to go back and listen to it on the podcast. But in a nutshell,
it was high protein, like mid-range carbs. I was eating six meals a day. We break everything down
in the episode, eating six meals a day and training five days a week. And I think the biggest
part of this on top of the eating really clean and working out really hard, they were tough
workouts. One of the biggest adjustments was I was walking so much. We were aiming for 12,000
and 15,000 steps a day. And the idea there is just keeping your heart rate up. So if your heart
rates up, you're just constantly burning through those calories and the weight just starts to drop
off. I had balked up quite a bit. I'm normally around 185-ish. I had balked up quite a bit. I just wanted
to see what I would look like if I really just put on some LBs. And if you look back at videos that
I was doing like last January or February, I was, I think 202 was the most I got up to. And you can see,
like I'm definitely looking a little beefier in those videos. So 202 was what the biggest was when I was
what I weighed when I started with AJ. And at the end, I was at 177. So I ended up cutting 25 pounds
in 90 days, 25 pounds in about a little over three months.
It was a, I, I'm not normally, I'm not normally 202.
I'm normally 185.
So if I ever did this again, I'd probably go for more like 185 to 175.
And we, like, I would have really kept on a lot more of the,
I don't really feel like I lost a lot of lean muscle mass,
but I'm going way too in the weeds with this.
It was, the program was,
AJ laid it all out for me. It changed every few weeks. The main supplements I was taking were
really creatine and electrolytes in the morning. And it was also just, it was just watching how my body
reacted to different types of proteins and different types of carbs. It would be funny.
There would be some weeks when I would eat, I don't know, like 20 grams more of carbs per meal.
And I was sending him update photos and he would go, ooh, let's cut back the carbs a little bit.
it and let's increase the the protein. So it was just, it was dialing it all in. It was figuring it all out,
but it was very specific to me and the way that my body digested food. So without me going into
much further detail, I'll say, go listen to episode 480 or go watch the video on YouTube. It goes
deep into detail about it. But I was so impressed with AJ's level of knowledge when it came to
of fitness and nutrition, and he's such a good dude.
I'd a great time working with him, and I'd love to do it again.
So, I don't know, 41 for me is three weeks away, May 19th, of course, don't tell Kane.
Maybe 42?
I don't know.
We'll see.
Your underscore friend underscore shrubham 99 on Instagram says, did you watch the match between
Will Osprey and Brian Danielson?
It was legendary.
Great question. Yes, I watched the match and whether you like AAW or you like WW or you like
WWE or you like New Japan or you like TNA or you like something else, I think objectively,
we can say that this was a great match. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch
it. It's so fantastic. The storytelling within the match, the athleticism in the match, and just
the fact that you have two of the best current wrestlers going at it, it's amazing.
And it will be one of, if not the best matches of 2024.
So, yeah, I love that match.
And that's a match that, with great respect to WWE, it's a match you wouldn't have seen in
WWE.
And I'm not just saying that because Brian Danielson and Will Osprey aren't in
WWE, but it was a match that just pushed the limits, I think, of what's possible in the current
era of wrestling that we're in right now. And there was a lot of talk, right? When Will Osprey's
contract was going to come up as to where he was going to go next. And I'm really happy for Will
and what he's doing now. I know Will, you know, a little bit personally. And we talked about it during
the interview that we did about a year ago, and I've talked to him about it just, you know,
one-to-one, like sending the messages that we've sent to each other. A really important thing for
him was to be close to his family and the situation that he had with his family. And A.E.W,
as he has said, not only offered him, you know, a better deal, but it also allowed him to
spend more time with his family. And that was important to him. And now,
Now as wrestling fans, we are introduced to matches like this.
And I say introduced because, of course, he had amazing matches in New Japan.
But a lot of people either don't watch New Japan or don't know where to watch New Japan
because it's not as accessible as just turning on USA Network or TNT or TBS or Fox,
where you can obviously watch AEW or WWE.
So now an audience is a whole new audience is able to see just how great Will Osprey is.
So yeah, I love that match.
I completely agree with you that it was legendary.
And that's a match that I will be watching again and again.
And again.
It was really, really good.
Drop kicked 96 on Twitter says,
who is your pick to take the AEW World Championship from Swirf Strickland?
I just said I was really happy for Will Osprey and everything that he's doing.
So happy for Swerve Strickland, making history now.
As the AW world champion, I don't know who the next contender is yet, because if it's so fresh that he just won the championship, you know, this week.
But something tells me that as we're heading into All In, it's London.
we just talked about Will Osprey.
That match to me seems like it would be a match that would take place at all in.
So if I had to sit here right now and make a prediction,
I would think we're going to see some sort of storyline
that's going to give us Swerve Strickland versus Will Osprey at all in.
And could you imagine if Will Osprey wins that in England?
So that, I don't know right now, but that, that certainly feels like something that would make a lot of sense.
Will Osprey is for sure going to be an AEW world champion.
It's not a matter of if that happens.
It is a matter of when that happens.
And I would think that that's, that's going to be my prediction.
So the next AEW world champion, I think it's Will Osprey, but I am certainly not rushing to see Swerve Strickland lose the championship.
He is so damn good.
And he has this aura about him.
When he walks down to the ring,
he just has this aura about him.
He's like a villain from a movie.
And it's just so good.
So all of that is to say,
I can't wait to see what swerves Strickland as champion does.
It's going to be must-see TV.
Scott Bowman 77 on Twitter.
I saw the clip you posted from
your interview with Jim Johnston in 2021, where he talked about not being in the
WWE Hall of Fame. With all of the changes in WWE and Triple H in charge now, do you
think he could return? I think we can all agree that when it comes to theme songs in wrestling,
Jim Johnston is the goat. There is no debate. There is no debate here. The body of work that he
had over his entire career. And just off the top of my head, when you think about the
theme songs that he created. Stone Cold, Undertaker, Kane, The Rock, DX, the list goes on and on and on and on.
He's the goat. It is an absolute travesty. It is criminal that Jim Johnston has not been inducted
into the WWE Hall of Fame. And I would have to think that that one's just a matter of time.
will he return? I don't know because when you go back and listen to that interview that I did with him
three years ago, he seems pretty happy doing what he's doing right now. And he was just let go with
for really no reason. It was just kind of like, yeah, we don't need your services anymore.
Like, oh, pardon me, you don't need the greatest theme composer of all time. You don't need,
you don't need their services anymore.
So there was certainly, if you listen to the interview,
there was certainly a little bit of still animosity, I think.
And he even referenced it in that Hall of Fame clip,
basically being like to come to that event
and shake the hands of the people who like let me go
and pretend like everything's okay would be weird.
Maybe some of those people aren't there anymore.
I would love to see him back.
And I think that this was talked about.
about during the Royal Rumble where there were certain people that were coming out and you didn't
know who it was. And that was a twofold problem, if you ask me. One was, Jim Johnston was so good
at within a second. You knew exactly who was coming out. He had that hit right off the start.
The glass shattering. That's stone cold. The car crash. That's McFolly. One, two, is this on? Oh,
that's Triple H's old entrance theme. Doon, doon, time to play the game.
oh, that's Triple H's other entrance theme.
There was something there, right?
Oh, you didn't know?
He always had something that you instantly knew who was coming out.
So that is not necessarily a thing that happens now.
And the second part of that is not everybody at the Royal Rumble had the name come up on the, on the Tron when they were coming out.
So I think you put those two components together, you know, the hit.
at the start of the song plus their name flashing on the Tron. Oh my gosh. Well, we know exactly
who's coming out now. That would all be solved. At least the first part of that would be solved
if Jim Johnston was back. I would love to see it. I know you would love to see it. Even if it's
not even a full time capacity, we would all love to see it. Maybe he does half the themes. Maybe he
does a quarter of the themes. But I can tell you this. I don't know if I'm supposed to say this.
I've had a few current wrestlers reach out to me saying,
hey, I know you had Jim Johnston on your show.
Do you think you could give me his contact information?
I would love for him to write me a new song.
I'm obviously not going to say who those people were,
but it was more than one.
I'm not going to say who those people were that reached out to me.
But that is definitely a thing that is currently happening.
So maybe there's some stuff going on on the side here.
Maybe Jim Johnston is doing some freelance work.
If you've heard a good theme song, I'm just saying.
And I'm not specifically saying that these are WWE people that have reached out to me.
Maybe they are.
Maybe they aren't.
But Jim Johnston is still available for hire.
And you can, I believe you can go to his website and you can, you can reach out to him.
and you can commission him, not just for wrestling themes,
but you can commission him to score your movie,
or you could commission him to, I don't know, do whatever.
But it's actually amazing to me that after the episode that I did with him,
he was, full on said like that he's available for freelance work.
You can commission him.
If I'm an independent wrestler,
why wouldn't I have Jim Johnston right in my entrance theme?
I said the same thing about Downstate.
Downstate, by the way, is available for commission.
Yes, you can reach out to Downstate.
The same band who does Cody Rhodes,
Dolph Ziegler, the Miz,
Matt Cardone, and the list goes on and on and on.
We already listed that earlier in the episode.
Yes, Downstate is available.
You can reach out to Downstate,
send them a DM, send them an email.
If you're an independent wrestler
or you're a podcaster or you're a YouTuber
and you want to stand out,
that's what I'd be doing.
That's what I'd be doing if I were you.
So I would love to see Jim Johnston back.
I kind of went off on a little tangent there,
but if someone's available for commission
and you know they're the best, my goodness,
what we're waiting for?
Shannon underscore loves wrestling on Instagram.
Who is your early pick to win King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring?
It is two months away.
So this is obviously a very early pick.
Also, nobody has declared themselves for Queen of the Ring
right now. So that's a very, very early pick. I love seeing a heel king of the ring.
Think about the work that Booker T did or that Wade Barrett did as king of the ring. I love
a heel king of the ring. So seeing Gunther as the king of the ring could be fantastic.
Because you need someone who can cut a great promo. You need something, someone who can elicit a response from the
crowd and you obviously need someone who can work as well.
Goonther would be fantastic as a heel king of the ring.
So he's my early pick there.
Chelsea Green.
Chelsea as the queen of the ring just feels like it's almost too perfect.
It feels like it's already written itself.
The crowd loves her.
She plays this character so perfectly.
If Chelsea Green isn't Queen of the Ring,
this year, then she needs to be next year, but she needs to be at some point in time.
She's already doing such amazing stuff, but her as Queen of the Ring would be just absolute magic.
So those are my picks.
I hope that both of them pan out because I think that both would be just so incredibly entertaining.
Pistol Pete 19 on Instagram.
That's what I Love You Man reference, right?
Pistol Pete.
You know, Jason Siegel's calling Paul Red Pistyle.
Pete.
CVV, I love your positivity so much.
It's infectious.
But please, indulge us.
What's your biggest wrestling pet peeve?
Well, if you've been listening to the show for a while,
this will not be new to you.
And my goodness, it feels so timely to say this,
but I'm not really a fan of the WWE draft.
I love the concept of it.
I love the concept and the idea of
shaking up the rosters.
It always makes for an entertaining show.
It always makes for an entertaining show of like,
oh, this person's going here,
this person's going there.
My problem with it is it doesn't operate like a real draft.
Okay?
Again, we talked about the NFL draft is going on right now.
Could you imagine getting drafted to the Baltimore Ravens
and then three weeks into the season,
just deciding that you're going to go play now
for the Cincinnati,
bangles. It doesn't make any sense. And we always see this in WWE where someone gets drafted to
raw and then three weeks later, what are they doing here? They're not supposed to be on SmackDown?
And it makes me just want to pull my hair out. If you're going to get drafted to a show,
there needs to be some sort of a stipulation, regulation, whatever it is that you need to stay on that
show. You can't just have people willy-nilly just, I'm on raw, now I'm on SmackDown. Oh, guess what?
Now I'm on NXT. Because that's not how a true brand split works. It's not how a true
draft works. So if we're going to continue to do the draft, please make it make a little bit more
sense. And if there are rules, could you let us know what they are? It just doesn't make sense for
things to just be all over the place like that.
I remember when the draft first came out and there was one champion and the champion went on both shows?
Hey, that made a lot of sense, you know, because it would suck if the champion was just on SmackDown
and now you're a raw person.
Well, how could I ever fight for that championship?
So that made a lot of sense.
But I just, if there are rules, could you let us know what they are?
That's it.
I think I speak for all fans when I say that.
Okay?
the draft, if we're going to continue to do this every year, just make it make some logical sense.
If not, it's got to go.
That's it.
That's what it is right there.
Donald Paz, he is my, Donald Paz, sorry, Donald Paz, he's my audio engineer.
I know he's listening to this right now.
Before we put this out, he's making me sound so crispy with the sound here, with the audio.
and Donald, appreciate all of your hard work here.
He actually texted me this very interesting question.
He texted me an article to the FTC voting to ban non-compete agreements.
He says, my ask CVV question is this.
What will this mean for wrestling promotions?
So if you saw the news this week, or if you didn't see the news this week, the FTC has voted to ban non-compete agreements.
And I know a thing or two about non-compete agreements.
because I personally have signed some of them.
This is a really common thing in television.
And the idea here in television is, for example,
when I worked in Cleveland,
I worked for the CBS affiliate in Cleveland.
So I come into Cleveland.
I was on that station for five years.
I start to really build up my name
within the Cleveland area on CBS.
The idea behind the non-compete is they don't want
the NBC station or the Fox station to come in
and just go, hey, we want you on our show.
And then it becomes that like Rick Rood situation where Monday, I'm on CBS and Tuesday,
I'm on NBC.
They don't want that situation to happen.
They don't want you to build all your brand equity with one company, with one station.
And then the next day or the next week, just take all of that over to the competition.
That's the idea behind the non-compete.
although before this FTC vote here, for the most part, if you fought a non-competing court,
they didn't generally hold up from my understanding.
Now, in wrestling, it operates a little bit differently.
You always hear about the 90-day WWWE non-compete.
What's different about that is during those 90 days, you're still being paid your full
contract.
You're still being paid your full salary.
The downside here is, since you can't.
appear on any other wrestling show or any other televised wrestling show, your momentum starts
to die out, right? You get released in April, like some of the unfortunate releases that just
happened. Now you can't appear somewhere else until July. So you've got all the momentum right now.
Like, you want to be able to appear somewhere else right now while you've still got the momentum.
You want to strike while the iron's hot. What I think might happen, what could happen, and this is just
me speculating is if non-competes are no longer a thing moving forward, maybe you'll have,
you'll have the option that if you get released, you can either have the option of 90 days
to continue to get paid and continue to have your salary, or as of today, it's over,
it's done, you know, you're not making any more money and you go figure out whatever,
you know, wherever you're going to go next. That could be the way that,
this ends up working out. But again, non-compete clauses, non-compete contracts in wrestling are
very different than a lot of these non-competes that currently happen right now. Like, I've heard of
some, like, I've heard of some crazy non-competes where like you work for one burger joint
and your non-compete will be like, you can't work at another burger joint within a 10-mile
radius within a year of leaving here. Like those are the type of things that are going to
start to go away because those don't make sense. And the reason that most non-competes don't hold up
in court is because they can't, one company can't force you to not make a living wage somewhere else.
So by saying, like, you can't work at the other burger joint, it's a little bit ridiculous to say
you can't make a living. You can't earn a living. So I'm going to be really interested to see
how this all shakes out if it does, in fact, change anything at all.
but the non-competes in wrestling operate a little bit differently than non-competes in other industries.
Sebastian Linen.
Am I saying that right?
L-I-N-A-N-L-N-Lyn.
He emailed this one in.
Dear Chris, my name is Sebastian, I'm a big fan of your show.
I'm emailing a question of sorts for the next ACS-C-VV episode.
You actually inspired me to start my own podcast, and I'm really glad I tried it out.
Unfortunately, it wasn't for me.
I love communicating with people, but I'm still figuring out exactly what I want to do.
I watched that really great video you did about learning what you don't want to do in your 20s,
and it's really resonating with me.
Any further advice?
So you're referencing that video that I did.
It was an interview that I did with Sean Spears.
My goodness, that interview was five years ago.
Wow.
It was an interview I did with Sean Spears five years ago,
and there was one little section in there that got clipped and,
shared all over the place.
And Sean, real name Ronnie, said,
your 20s are for figuring out what you don't want to do
and your 30s are for figuring out what you do want to do.
And what he means there is your 20s are for trying stuff out.
And Sebastian, I'm glad that you tried podcasting.
It's not for everybody.
It's a lot more work than people think.
It's not just talking to a microphone or asking people questions,
and hitting record.
There's a lot more that goes into it.
But I'm really glad you tried it.
And I think that that's an important lesson at any age
is to actually try something to see if it's for you or not.
And I think that there's a lot of people who just,
at the outset, look at something and go,
oh, yeah, it's not for me.
Oh, I'm not the type of person that would do that.
Well, you could try it and find out,
maybe you'd like it if you tried it.
So my advice to you would be try a lot of things and don't be worried about, quote, unquote,
figuring it out right now.
If you're going to start working in your 20s, let's say, let's say you start working as soon
as you're done in college.
So you start working at 22 for the sake of this argument here.
And you work until you're the retirement age of 65, again, for the sake of this argument.
you work then for 43 years.
Don't be in a rush to try to figure that out at 22 or 26 or 29 or even 33.
Like, you've got time.
You've got time.
And it's okay to try something and figure out it's not for you.
And it's okay to go into something else and go, oh, you know, that's also not for me.
I realize I'm really, really fortunate that.
that I fell in love with broadcasting at a really early age.
And I went for it hard when I was in college and then in the year that after I graduated from college.
And I was really fortunate that it worked out.
But I was also really not willing to take no for an answer.
I reached out to every TV station and every radio station in my college town just asking like, how can I be part of what you do?
Can I come in and volunteer?
can I just make myself useful in some sort of way? What kind of value can I bring in exchange for
nothing more than my time? Like, I'll give you my time. Can you in exchange give me experience?
And I was working a side job, a part-time job in the fish department of a pet store at the mall
to make some money so that I could live while still getting the experience of working in the
industry that I wanted to work in. So maybe you don't know what industry you want to work in.
And I would just say lean into whatever it is that makes you feel excited. What's the thing in
your life that when you think about it, juices you up a little bit? And then when you do it,
it puts that smile on your face. We live in a time now where it's possible to monetize just about
anything. Lean into those things that you love. Because again, you're going to be working for
40 something years of your life. My biggest fear when I was in college and when I graduated from
college, my biggest fear was to have a job I hated. I just didn't want to do that. And it's so funny
thinking back on it was my goal wasn't to have a job I love. And I'm fortunate now that I'm pretty
pumped up every day to get to do what I do. And there's a distinction there, not have to do
what I do, like to get to do what I do. I feel, I realize I was really, I was lucky early on to be able to do
and to be able to find a passion early. But I would just say, you're on the right path. If you've
already tried something and realized it wasn't for you, you're already on the right path. You already
have a growth mindset. So continue to lean into that.
that. Joshua Alive 11 on Instagram. What's your favorite money in the bank cash in
of all time? For me, it's easy. It's Dolphsigler on Alberto Del Rio. It's the Monday after
Raw, Monday after Mania, the Raw after WrestleMania. That's it for me. And I know that
it's kind of a toss up for most people. I think a lot of people will say the highest of the century
and Seth Rollins cash in pretty great. Yeah. But,
Pretty fantastic Caching at Russellmania, turning the match from a one-on-one match to a three-way match.
Pretty great.
But for me, there was so many things about the Dolf Ziegler, Cation, that I loved then.
I still loved now.
I was working in Cleveland at the time.
Dolf is from Cleveland.
It would spend a decent amount of time back in Cleveland.
I had the opportunity to interview him a bunch when he would come home for the holidays or
when Raw or Smackdown happened to be in town. I remember I was sitting at my desk. Monday night,
Raw was on. I was working a later shift. I was on the 4 o'clock news, the 5 o'clock news,
the 10 o'clock news and the 11 o'clock news. So my shift was like 3 p.m. to like midnight.
So I got to watch Raw at work. I had a TV on my desk. You work at a TV station. I got a TV on my desk.
I vividly remember watching that raw. And the volume was,
volume was turned down a little bit, like you can just barely hear it. And I was kind of watching
it out of the corner of my eye as I was, you know, typing away my computer and working.
And I remember Alberto del Rio just getting beaten up bad. And the camera was hanging on him just
a little bit longer. And I remember grabbing the remote and turning up the volume. I'm like,
oh my gosh, it's about to happen. It's about to happen. And sure enough, I'm here to show the
world, that downstate song hits, the crowd goes crazy because that raw after
mania crowd is just, you know, it's the hottest raw crowd that you'll have all year.
The crowd goes crazy.
And he comes down with this look of determination on his face.
And I just remember being like, it's happening.
Like the Cleveland guy is going to win.
I love this.
So that's, that's the moment for me.
And Dolf even described it when you go back and listen to the interview that we did about a year ago.
He says the thing that makes that match so special is the fact that they almost didn't let him have it.
Like if you watch the match, there's the closest near fall there.
And in his words, Dolf was going to get Dolfed again.
That he came out, perfect time.
He's being the ultimate opportunist here.
He's cashing in when the champion is down and out.
and he's still not going to get it done.
And it definitely felt like that during the match.
And then he zigzag, one, two, three.
And you can see this look on his face like, ah, like, yeah, it happened.
So that's the reason why that's my favorite caution.
And it will always be my favorite cash.
And even when I watch the clip back on YouTube,
I get goosebumps on my arm.
I'm getting goosebumps talking about it right now.
That's my favorite cashing.
and it's going to be tough, in my opinion, to beat that caching.
A lion underscore Ahmed underscore 008.
Who is the goat of this era?
Is it Seth or is it Roman?
I mean, if John Sina is considered still this era, it's obviously John Sina.
Although you could say that John Sina was the goat of the era that just previously wrapped up.
because John Cena really did keep things going for the better part of the last decade.
Of this era, I think you could make a strong case for both Seth or Roman for completely different ways.
Roman had this thing about him where every time he had a title match, it was a big fight feel to borrow a line from Michael Cole.
And you knew that it meant something because for all the flack that Roman Raines got for not defending the title,
frequently, it meant that when he did defend the title, it meant that much more.
And Roman just gave that title for the 1,316 days that he held it.
He gave it a real importance to it.
It was like a real, it just, it was a, it was like almost like a regalness to it.
And I don't mean William Regal.
I mean like, almost like royalty.
And then you got Seth on the other hand, who's just a damn workhorse.
Like just the guy will just, he just always says, yes, you need me to do that?
Absolutely.
You need me to wrestle at WrestleMania with a bum knee?
Sure.
I'm in.
Absolutely.
Yeah, I got it.
I got you.
Whatever you need.
So I think a real strong case could be made for both of them.
And I think that as Cody is entering into this championship run that he has right now,
and as Cody has been for a long time since he returned to WWE,
the first guy to get to the building,
last guy to leave.
The last guy at every house show,
every live event,
signing autographs,
posing for photos.
A real case is going to be made for Cody as well.
And Cody is just,
he's doing the most right now.
And it's just amazing seeing all of the incredible moments
that he's creating for fans.
and I don't just mean the moments that are shared on social media.
It's the little things.
He's doing all of the little things.
How many people has he hooked up with tickets for a WWE event?
How many people have,
has he flown in for WrestleMania or got them free tickets?
Like, he's,
he's just creating these core memories for so many people.
And Cody is really helping to usher in a whole,
new generation of wrestling fans. It's the kids now who are going to be about my age in 30 years.
It's the 10-year-olds and the 12-year-olds and the 14-year-olds that are watching now.
And he's creating those moments for them. And I think that, yeah, sure, Seth or Roman,
yeah, they could be the goats of this era, but Cody's got to be part of that conversation, too.
Green 171 on Instagram says,
is Logan Paul the Shane McMahon of the new era?
Fun stories, big match spots, mid card titles.
I've actually been saying for a long time
that there's a lot of similarities between the type of moments
that Logan Paul creates and the type of moments that Shane McMahon always created.
The cool thing about a Logan Paul match is you know there's going to be a viral moment.
You know there's going to be that big moment.
that everybody's talking about. And that's what Shane did for so long. I mean, think of it.
All the different Shane McMahon moments, you know, the falling off of the ladder in that match
with Steve Blackman and the ladder, the scaffolding or the set, if you will, like falling 70 feet
or whatever that was, all of the various coast to coasts, all of these different things.
Shane McMahon was so good at giving us an entertaining match. And then one of those moments,
where you were like, oh my God, did I just see that? That's crazy. And Logan Paul has done that a lot.
Like, think of all the memorable moments, the viral moments that Logan Paul's created. The moment with
ricochet meeting in the middle of the ring during the Royal Rumble. The elbow drop from the top rope
through the announce table, the Roman Raines while holding an iPhone, all of these types of moments.
So, yeah, in a way, in a way, Logan Paul is kind of the Shane McMahon of the new era.
And also, will we see Shane McMahon back in WWE?
Because Torr's quad, WrestleMania 39 last year, haven't seen him since.
And he just very quietly, you know, exited, but very quietly just kind of rehab the injury, as I'm sure, and got better.
will we see Shane McMahon again? I don't know. It's a new era. It's a new regime. But Shane McMahon was
always giving us entertaining moments. So I guess maybe that's a question for another ask CVV.
We'll see. In Man Out Burger, what bass boat do you currently own? And why did you sell the Z520?
Well, this is a deep cut and this is only for people who understand bass fishing.
So I had a 2016 Ranger Z520.
I owned it in 2016.
I bought it like it was like eight months old.
It was like barely used when I got it.
I had like 17 hours on the motor.
And in case you're wondering, I had a 250 Yamaha show on the back of that.
It was fantastic.
And before that, I owned a ski.
Peter ZX 200 with a 225 Yamaha on it. The reason that I don't own a bass boat anymore is,
so I was living in Florida when I owned that boat and I was fishing at Lake Okeechobee almost
every weekend. And if I was, if I was fishing that weekend, I was generally fishing Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday and fishing a ton of tournaments there. I'm just not fishing as much anymore.
That is the God's honest truth. And I found, even though I had this.
amazing boat, which is like, that thing was like the Rolls Royce of bass boats. If I was ever to have
another bass boat, it would be another ranger. I loved how wide the casting deck was on the front of it.
And look, I'll make this quick for people who have no idea what I'm talking about. And I'm
totally nerding out here as a bass fishing fan and just as a bass fisherman in general.
I was, I found myself with this great boat that sat in my driveway and every other weekend,
I was fishing out of one of my buddy's boats.
Because the thing when you're a fisherman is,
the thing you have in common is you like to fish.
So all of my other friends also had bass boats.
And a lot of my other friends had more time to fish than I did.
I travel a ton now,
but I was also still traveling a ton then.
So like, while I was in London doing a movie junket
or when I was in New York covering a movie,
premiere, they were on the lake figuring stuff out. And things change so much in fishing,
but things especially change on a lake like Lake Okeechobe a lot. So if I missed two or three weeks,
I missed all of the patterns of what the fish were doing because what the fish were doing three weeks ago,
they're certainly not doing now. So I got to a point where I had this boat sitting in my driveway
that I was using like twice a month, three times a month. And I was fishing out of my friend's
boats more frequently than I was fishing out of my own. So I ended up selling my boat simply because of
that. And what came with that is I also had a pickup truck. I had a tundra at the time, a Toyota Tundra.
I sold the ranger. I sold the tundra. And I got a Tesla Model 3, which I still have to this day,
although my wife and I also have a GMC Sierra now. So I'm back to being a pickup truck guy. So I have
both ends of the spectrum here. I have the Tesla Model 3.
And then I have the GMC Sierra.
So I do not have a bass boat right now.
That's the reason I sold it.
I miss it a lot.
But I also very much fall into the,
there's two tropes with fishing boats.
There's two tropes with boats in general.
There's two phrases you always hear.
One is boat stands for breakout another thousand.
B-O-A-T.
Because there's just,
there's something about owning a boat
that something's always breaking on it.
And it was so freaking frustrating.
Because when you own a vehicle,
something breaks and it's a pretty easy fix,
you know you're getting your car back in like a day or two.
When something breaks on a boat,
oh,
like giving me PTSD thinking about this,
something breaks on your boat.
It's probably not getting fixed for like a week or two or more.
And there were times when stupid little things would break on my boat.
and I'd be out of commission for like three weeks.
So that was one of it.
And then the other phrase you always hear,
the other funny quote you always hear about boats is
the two happiest days of a boat owner's life.
It's the day you buy the boat and the day you sell the boat.
And I can very much side with both of those.
I was so pumped the day that I got it.
And I was also pretty relieved when I watch someone else
hook it up to their pickup truck and drive away with it.
kind of like, all right, well, it's on to the next thing.
So that's why I sold it.
And if I ever get another one, another Ranger for sure.
And here we are the final question here of Ask CVV Adrian Peterson number 28 edition.

When you're on a road trip,
what are your car essentials for the long car ride?
My friends always make fun of me for this because I love a good,
I love a good road trip.
And whether that's an hour and a half to the lake or the mountains,
or whether that's a four-hour drive from here to Las Vegas,
or whether it's drove across the country,
drove the Model 3, in fact,
across the country when I moved to California three years ago.
Wow, we're coming up on,
no, four years ago, wow,
coming up on almost exactly to the day,
my Californiaversary.
My friends will make fun of me for this
because, you know, you load up with snacks
and then like this,
the second that we pull out of the driveway,
I'm like, hey, where are the snacks?
Like, I just want to immediately dive into them.
an absolute must have for me is salt and vinegar potato chips.
I love all chips, but salt and vinegar are my weakness.
Another absolute must have is F3 Energy, and that's not just a cheap plug because I love F3
Energy, and if you use the code CVV, and F3Energy.com, you'll save yourself 15%.
But I just, I love, you know, I'm not a huge caffeine person.
But there's something about the flavor, especially of their original flavor, that for me now just coincides with a road trip.
I don't either eat as much candy as I used to.
I used to be a candy fiend.
And I have told many stories about how like I would eat like the whole movie size bag of candy in a one sitting.
I still do love sourcan, like Sour Patch kids or like mambas are another good one that I love.
I don't eat candy nearly as much, but I love a candy flavored gum or like a sweet gum
because that way you still get the sweet hit, but you don't get all the sugar.
Like, you know, if you're eating a bag of sour patch kids, it's like 80 grams of sugar.
And then you feel good for like a little bit, but half an hour later, oh my gosh, the sugar
crash is a real thing.
So the biggest thing for me, and obviously water, like a ton of water.
Like I always have, you might have seen like in some of my behind the scenes photos, I have like the 32 ounce drinking. It's called the ice shaker. Ice shaker.com. It's a great like just a great thing to drink anything out of. It's really good for mixing protein shakes and pre-workout and stuff like that. But I just love how it holds 32 ounces of water, which is a quarter of a gallon of water. So I know that if I drink six,
of these, I've got a gallon and a half of water in a day, tons of water, but absolutely 1,000%
salt and vinegar potato chips. Shoot me a message. Let me know your favorite flavor of salt and
vinegar potato chips because the boulder's probably the one I'm eating the most. I really love
how they're cooked in avocado oil rather than being cooked in vegetable oil or sunflower oil. So if you
can find a good chip cooked in either avocado oil or olive oil. Number one, I just think that the
flavor's a little bit butteryer. That's not a word. The flavor's a little bit more buttery,
but it also won't make you feel as bloated. Using those other oils, just, there's something about
it. It just makes you feel more bloated. But send me your recommendations for some great salt and
vinegar potato chips. A ton of great questions here. And next week, since backlash is happening, we will do
and ask CVV with our backlash predictions, and we will take a look at the odds from mybooky.orgie.org,
where if you sign up and you use the promo code CVV, you will get a 50% welcome bonus on your
deposit. So throw in 100 bucks. Boom, now you got 150 to bet on WWE. Yeah, you heard that right.
You can bet on backlash next week when you go to mybooky.orgie.org. All right, three things I'm
grateful for because started to add these into the Ask CVV episodes.
as always grateful for my family, all of them. I just feel like I'm a very, very lucky man to be able
to have the people around me that I have around me. Grateful for everything going on this weekend.
I am going to Phoenix for a UFL event that my good buddy Harrison Rogers, who also owns F3 energy
that he's putting on, United Fight League. They're doing amazing things for fighters, giving them
health benefits, which is freaking unheard of when it comes to MMA.
So I'm going out there to watch the show and also to support them.
And then after that, I am flying to Asheville, North Carolina, to do an interview with
someone that you'll be, you'll be seeing this in the next few weeks, but it's a big one.
Who lives in Asheville?
My goodness.
Who lives there?
I don't know.
You'll be seeing that in the next few weeks.
Actually, if you looked at my Instagram stories yesterday, I think.
you already know who I'm interviewing. So I'm grateful for that. And I'm just grateful for you.
Thank you for being here and being on this ride with me for 595 episodes. And thank you for
believing in me and in insight. And at some point in this journey, you gave me a chance.
There are a ton of wrestling podcasts out there. And just in general, there are so many podcast
options. So I'm grateful for you, give me a chance and allowing me to spend this last hour or so with
you, or maybe these last bunch of years together, depending on how long you've been listening.
So appreciate you for that. And we'll wrap it up here with this quote from Roy T. Bennett.
Since we're already talking about gratitude, here's a good one. Be grateful for what you already
have while you pursue your goals. If you aren't grateful for what you already have, what makes you
think you'd be more happy, you'd be happy with more.
Be great, be grateful, have an amazing weekend.
We will see you on the next one for some more insight.
The Hammer Alley podcast, an 80s flashback mockumentary.
Back in the 80s, there were a thousand bands trying to make it in the world of rock,
but there was one band that had it all.
Hammer Alley.
Whatever happened to Hammer Alley?
How did they go from top of the rock?
I'm looking for a music video.
They're a band from 1987.
Hammer Alley.
Ever heard of them?
To Rock Bottom.
Dude, I was born in 1987.
