Starting point is 00:00:01 Oh my goodness. Welcome back to another one here on Insight. I'm CVV, Chris Van Fleet. That downstate song just gets me so pumped up every single time. Good to see you here. Thank you for being with us. And thank you, as always, for helping to make Insight one of the top wrestling podcasts on the planet. Could I ask for a favor? If you're listening right now and you're one of the thousands of people who just listen to the show and you don't follow the show, could you please just hit that follow button on Spotify or Apple Podcasts or wherever you're listening right now. It helps the show so, so much as we continue to climb our way up the charts. So I appreciate you for that.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Welcome, my friends, to Ask CVV number 34, the Walter Payton Edition. Also, the Charles Barkley edition, the Bo Jackson edition. And if you're a fan of the Lakers, because he only wore 34 with the Lakers, yes, a Shaquille O'Neill edition. And I keep thinking ahead. Like, it's so exciting that every single one of these, we can talk about our favorite players that wore that number or were best known for wearing that number.
Starting point is 00:01:26 But I just keep thinking ahead to what are we going to do when we hit 100 and beyond? I don't know. Maybe we can cycle back through because I really didn't start doing this until, I think it was 23, the Michael Jordan edition. So we've got at least one through 22 that we can take care of. But I don't know. But please keep sending in your questions and your messages. I love when people are like, ah, episode number 35, Ask CVV number 35.
Starting point is 00:01:50 That should be the so-and-so edition. I love how people are like looking ahead. All 40s around the corner, 40s should definitely be the this person edition. So please sending them in. Please keep sending them in. I love to see those. And I love seeing all these questions. A ton of questions here that you guys sent in using that hashtag AskCV on social media.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Got a bunch of emails as well if you want to send one in. CVV at Chrisfanfleet.com. but I'm just shocked by how many people have left comments or questions on Spotify. Like, it's hundreds every episode. So please keep those coming. It's so cool to see those. Just so cool to know that there's somebody on the other side of this microphone. There's somebody that's listening in their headphones or AirPods or computer speaker or in their car or whatever it happens to be.
Starting point is 00:02:39 And that person is you. So thank you so much for being with us. got a ton to dive into today. If your question does not get answered on this one, on Ask CVV number 34, the Walter Peyton edition, send it in again, and we'll get to it on the next one, or we'll try to get to it on the next one of the one after that. But let's dive into this because there's so many of them. Scott Peterson on, Scott Patterson on Facebook says, hey, CVV, why isn't Gunther wearing
Starting point is 00:03:09 the King of the Ring crown? Do you think that there's a meaning behind it? I noticed that. Like when he won and then had the coronation, he just keeps holding it up like it's the Stanley Cup. Like he's holding it up above his head. And I'm like, is he holding it up above his head to then slowly bring it down onto his head and wear it?
Starting point is 00:03:28 And no, it's never happened. And I thought about this. It just does not fit with his character at all. Like, Gunther's a badass. Gunther's not goofy in any sort of way at all. Gunther very rarely smiles unless he's talking about how much he wants to hurt you or how happy he is that he beat you. So I think that wearing the King of the Ring crown really works when you lean into the goofiness a little bit. For example, King Booker, when he wore the crown and he had the accent, Xavier Woods, Wade Barrett, when they wear the crown and they lean into that character and it, and,
Starting point is 00:04:12 Their character then gets taken over. They are now the king. Their king, Booker, their king, Barrett. I think that's when it really works, like, when they're goofy. But Gunther is the furthest thing from Goofy. So I would be shocked that throughout the King of the Ring run, if he wears the crown at all, it just doesn't fit with that character. And I feel like we might view him in a slightly different way if it looks funny.
Starting point is 00:04:39 And I'm guessing, and I don't know this for a fact. I'm guessing the backstage. They put on the crown and they went, you know what? That's just not Gunther to me. So, yeah, just carry it around and you're still the king. Whether you wear the crown or not, you're still the king. But I don't think there's any sort of meaning behind it.
Starting point is 00:04:57 I know that a lot of people have pointed out the kind of funky finish we had there at the end of the match between Randy Orton and Gunther. Randy Orton's shoulder clearly up. That wasn't a three count. What were they going to do? That was the end of the match. it got messed up. And that's,
Starting point is 00:05:14 I don't think that's anyone's fault. I don't know why people are pointing to the referee going, this is his fault. That was the end of the match. What was he supposed to do? Count one, two, oh, his shoulders up and then awkwardly do some other sort of thing
Starting point is 00:05:25 to get that finish. I don't know. I think the cool thing is it has people talking, but I don't think they're going to go back and change the outcome of that match or anything. So I don't think he's not wearing the crown because he's not the king. I mean, he had a coronation.
Starting point is 00:05:37 He's the king. If they were going to do something with that storyline, his coronation, would have been interrupted by Randy Orton coming out and asking for a rematch or something like that. That didn't happen. Gunther is the king and that's that. So I don't think there's any other meaning behind it other than the fact that maybe that character wouldn't look right. Wearing a crown.
Starting point is 00:06:00 That's it. Fahad underscore Z on 28 on Instagram says, Hey, CVV, do you think Ethan Page will become the new NXT champ this Sunday? there's two answers to this. Okay, I think there's a, there's the answer from my heart, and there's what I would like to say would be probably the more logical answer. So my heart says, yes, have Ethan Page win this match. Ethan Page's first match is for the NXT championship.
Starting point is 00:06:28 That already, like, sets the tone for who he is and how important he is in NXT and how big of assigning this is. For him to win that match, I think, cements that even more. like here's a guy who wasn't used to his fullest potential in either AEW or TNA before that. We see a star in this guy and we are going to make sure that you see that he's a star too. That's what my heart says. Logically, Trick Williams just recently won the championship. I can't see him losing it just yet. I know this is going to be an incredible match.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I think that we're going to have some sort of a wonky finish to this one. I just can't see Ethan Page going in into the very first match and losing one, two, three, clean. Of course, in all of these situations, I could be wrong, but that's just the way that I see it. So I don't think he's going to win the NXT championship this weekend, if we're speaking from a logical standpoint here. But I feel like you could make a really strong case for why he could or should win the championship. I just don't see it happening yet. I think beyond a shadow of a doubt, of course he's championship material. And I say this with a certain amount of bias because I've known Ethan Page, Julian for years.
Starting point is 00:07:49 I have such a respect for who he is on the mic, who he is in the ring. And, I mean, just look at all of the hard work that he's put into getting to look the way that he is. And I think that that's just, it just speaks to how dedicated he is to this. So he'll be a champion one day. I just don't think it's this weekend. But I would love, love to be wrong there. And Ethan, if you're listening, I love you, buddy. Top Rope Mayhem on Instagram says,
Starting point is 00:08:23 which interview of yours is a hidden gem? Ooh, that is a fascinating question. I think there's some obvious ones, right? Like when you tune in for an interview with L.A. night or an interview with Booker T or John Sina, you know it's going to be great. But I think there's some hidden gems there. People who maybe you haven't heard
Starting point is 00:08:45 an interview from them before or people who maybe you don't know a lot about, you're familiar with who they are as a character, but you don't know who the person behind that character is. Those are my favorite interviews. And there's two that immediately popped to mind for me right now. Hornswoggle was back on the show recently. I've interviewed him now three times.
Starting point is 00:09:04 and he is just so effortlessly funny. And I think that if you don't know anything about Hornswoggle other than the character that you saw in WWE or TNA or if you've seen him anywhere else, you just go, oh yeah, yeah, I guess he's kind of funny. But when you start to listen to him, it's like sitting down with a comedian. Like my face hurt from laughing during that episode, whether it's the first one, the second one, or this most recent one that we did that just came out a few weeks ago. Hornswoggle is a hidden gem.
Starting point is 00:09:34 for sure. And within all of the laughter and the self-deprecating humor, there's actually some great life lessons there about believing in yourself and shooting for big goals. And I love that. Those are always my favorite types of conversations where you leave there going, one, this is such a great person. I feel like we could talk for four more hours. Like, that's a person I would love to have a beer with. And then two, wow, I love their perspective on life. I love, I love, love the way that they approach life. And there's a lot of things that I learned from this conversation. And I hope that someone listening to this or watching this on YouTube also learns a lesson or two throughout this as well. The other one is I'd never met this guy before.
Starting point is 00:10:18 And my episode with Jay Lethal came out a few years ago. And I obviously, I was familiar with his work, but I never met him. And from the second that that interview started, and it was over Zoom, from the second that we connected on Zoom. And I, I could see him and he could see me. It was like I was catching up with like a long-lost buddy. Like that interview just flowed so well and he tells such great stories. That's someone I got to have back on the show in person for sure. So go back and watch that one or listen to that one.
Starting point is 00:10:55 And leave a comment on Spotify to let me know that you listen to that one. That's always so cool to see as well. I mentioned it a few Ask CVVV episodes ago. someone said, who's the most interesting person that you ever interviewed? And I answered with two people, I said it's either former FBI negotiator Chris Voss, fascinating conversation. He wrote a great book called Never Split the Difference. It was so cool seeing people comment on that like, oh, hey, this was a great episode. And the other one was Colin O'Grady, who walked across Antarctica. It's a wild story and an incredible accomplishment. Jay Lethal's one of, like, he's the Hidden Gem wrestling interview.
Starting point is 00:11:32 along with Hornswoggle. So go leave a comment on that Spotify. What did you think of this episode thing? Just so I know that at least one person that heard this went and actually did that and listened to that episode because that's a fun one. And yes, if we're ever in the same place at the same time again, we've got to make that one happen again. This was emailed in from John McGarry.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Thank you for sending this email in, John. I was just wondering, when you record your interviews, are there times when you strategically wait to release them to strike when the iron's hot. So Sonia Deville, for example, her podcast was just released as she returned. If so, what's the longest you've waited and how important do you think timing is for dropping your interviews? So, John, very rarely am I timing it where like it comes out after a big life event or after a big storyline. I feel like I've got really lucky over the last few months and it makes me look like I'm a genius when I'm releasing these, but that is not the case at all.
Starting point is 00:12:31 I'll give you a great example of that. The Jinder Mahal interview was already scheduled to come out when it came out, and then he got released three days before. And I had a real struggle with that because we talked about so many things about him being a current WWE employee when we recorded that. It was recorded three or four weeks before we released it. And I actually reached out to him. I sent to me a text and I said,
Starting point is 00:12:58 Hey, man, like we had the episode scheduled to be released. Are you still okay with it going out? He said, yeah, for sure, man. Absolutely. And you know what? We should do another one when my 90 days are up. The Sonia DeVille one, that one was just, we have a lot of, we're in a great spot right now.
Starting point is 00:13:17 We have a lot of episodes that are recorded and in the can, as they say, and ready to go. And if we're putting out two a week, every week, Tuesday, Thursday, and then of course here, ask CVV on Friday. If I have eight episodes in the can, I think it's eight right now. That means we have four weeks of content. So if there's one that I recorded this last week, that might not be coming out for four weeks just because we have eight of them ready to go. There are some that we've moved up a little bit like Dustin Rhodes. I knew that we were recording that one, WrestleMania weekend.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I knew that turning that one around with whatever happened that weekend with Cody Rhodes, I was assuming. guessing he was going to win the championship, but we recorded it before that match happened. I said to everybody on the team, I said, let's get this one ready to go. So it drops right after WrestleMania. And it did. And the timing was great. But for the most part, I've just got lucky. Like the Mark Henry episode that came out yesterday was recorded at the end of March.
Starting point is 00:14:20 So, and I even said it in the intro to that interview. Unfortunately, you know, with the timing, he was still with AEW the time. So of course, we didn't talk about him leaving AEW. we didn't talk about the retirement speech by AJ Stiles, the fake retirement speech and how you can't trust someone wearing an Easter colored suit. But it came out. It was already scheduled to come out on June 5th.
Starting point is 00:14:43 And it just so happened that the week before he announced that he was leaving AEW. So I think I've just had a lot of dumb luck on my side. And there's a question coming up here in a few questions that will also tie into the timing. of these episodes. But I think the quickest we can turn something around, because there's a lot of moving pieces here.
Starting point is 00:15:04 It's not just a matter of like recording the episode and click a button and it's up. Like it's ingesting all the video and these are large files, especially if the interview's over an hour. So it's putting the video in. It's getting the interview edited. It's editing those incredible trailers,
Starting point is 00:15:22 the intros that we have at the start of every YouTube video. It's getting that done. It's getting the thumbnail done. the graphics done. It's having Donald, who's my audio engineer, who's making me sound so great right now. It's having him edit the audio and make the audio sound good. So there's so many different parts here. Shout out to you, Donald. I know that you're listening to this before this episode goes out. There's so many moving parts there. So it all has to come together. I'd say the quickest we can turn something around is three, four days. But generally speaking, it's probably like two-ish weeks just because
Starting point is 00:15:56 I feel fortunate that we're in a good spot where we're batch recording a few at a time. Like full disclosure here, it's Thursday afternoon as I'm recording this right now. As soon as I'm done here, I'm going to go to the airport. I'm flying to Houston. And who lives in Houston? That's right. Booker T lives in Houston. So we're doing an interview with Booker T before his reality of wrestling show, which I'm going
Starting point is 00:16:23 to be a part of on Saturday. And I can't wait. We're doing an interview with. Charmel and also doing one with Shelton Benjamin because he lives in Houston. So there's an example of we're recording three of those. And that's a week and a half worth of episodes. So you're hearing me talk about those now. They may not be out till the end of June or sometime in July.
Starting point is 00:16:44 So it's a little teaser there. I like to give out teasers for people who listen to the podcast and also especially people who listen to these Ask CVV episodes because I know that you're a real one if you're listening to one of these. Steve McAllen on Instagram says, hey, CVV, when will you be announcing your live show in Cleveland? I'd love to grab a ticket to see you and whatever guest or guests that you have there. So I have gone back and forth with this one for the last almost two months. Ever since SummerSlam was announced, I've been going, I've been trying to make this work. And unfortunately, I hate to say it, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. The timeline just doesn't work with this.
Starting point is 00:19:45 And it just doesn't sound like it's going to happen. And I hate that it's not going to happen because I've wanted to do a live show with all of you guys in the crowd for a while now. And if we dive into the details about this one, SummerSlam, Cleveland, here's why it doesn't work. So we were originally going to do it with, I'll just give you all the tea here. We're originally going to do it with a very big guest. And then they found out that they already had a meet and greet that weekend.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Russell Con is in town. Tons of legends there, tons of stars there. And basically said, I can't do your show. show with a meet and greet if I'm also already doing a meet and greet that weekend. Like, I wouldn't be able to do that. We can't cut into the appearance that I've already agreed to and then do yours as well. I said, cool. Yeah, no, totally get that. No problem. Let's move on to find another huge guest. Found another huge guest. A really huge guest. Someone who doesn't do a lot of interviews at all. We found an even bigger venue to do this at
Starting point is 00:20:50 because we knew that we could probably get way more people that would be willing to see this very, very large guest who, again, doesn't do a lot of interviews. Ran that one up the chain and it came back and they just weren't interested in doing it. All right. Cool. We're 0 for two now. So I look for another guest and I've got another guest lined up. Another huge guest that you guys would be so excited.
Starting point is 00:21:20 to see in person. You'd be so excited to hear this conversation. And then Russell Con announced their dates and their times. And Russell Con's a huge convention. I've been so fortunate to appear at it the last few years when it's been attached to WrestleMania. But here it is attached to SummerSlam. Russell Con is one to six on Friday. And then Smackdown, I think doors are at seven, like first match is at, or maybe doors are at 630, first matches at 7.30. So anyone that I would have had that would have been able to join me for this is already appearing at RussellCon. So there's no way that this could work if they're at RussellCon till six.
Starting point is 00:22:02 And then I'm guessing a lot of you guys who are going to be in Cleveland for SummerSlam, we're going to be at Smackdown on Friday night. So there's just no time now on Friday night. Well, what about Thursday? Well, on Thursday night, I would love to do it. but my good friend, Sam Roberts, is doing his live podcast on Thursday night. And I certainly don't want to interfere with that. In fact, I want to attend Sam's show.
Starting point is 00:22:23 So it really doesn't leave us with a lot of time at all. Could we do it Saturday? Well, Saturday, now you run into the exact same issue that you did with Friday. Any of the guests that I would have had. And obviously, anybody who's attached to WWE is already going to be in the building for Smackdown or in the stadium for SummerSlam. So they're off limits. They're not even a possibility.
Starting point is 00:22:48 So we have to look at people who are legends, Hall of Famers, people who are free agents, and all of those people are going to be appearing at RussellCon. So it just doesn't shake out. Saturday's hours for RussellCon are 10 to 3 p.m. And then we basically go right from there to the stadium. Or maybe even tailgating. Cleveland loves a good tailgate.
Starting point is 00:23:12 I know that from experience. I'm actually going to be hosting a street party on West 6th Street right before SummerSlam. West Sixth Street's like a few blocks from the stadium. They're going to be doing some live wrestling in the street. They're shutting down the street. If you've never been to Cleveland before, West 6th Street is the spot. If you're looking to go to any number of those many bars they have in that street, or if you're looking to go to the street festival, the street party that they're going to be having,
Starting point is 00:23:42 is the spot. So there's just no time. That's how all of this shakes out. This is me being as honest with you guys as I can possibly be. I'm trying to find a way to get this to work somewhere, somehow. I don't know. Is it Survivor's series when that gets announced? Maybe. Is it the Royal Rumble when that gets announced? Possibly. Is it WrestleMania next year in Vegas? I'd like for that to happen, but I just talked about how busy these few days are in Cleveland. WrestleMania is like that times 50. It's that times 100. It's so much more busy.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Like there's all these different indie shows that are running and these different events that are happening. There's just so many things that there's only so many venues and there's only so many guests you could have. And I want to do this right. I want this to set a precedent for how these events can be. I wouldn't want to do anything but absolutely over-deliver for any. who is willing to give me their hard-earned money to buy a ticket to see that show,
Starting point is 00:24:47 and then possibly also buy a ticket for a meet-and-grit afterwards with whoever that massive guest is. I don't want to do anything but over-deliver, and I can't do that here. And if we were to somehow scrape something together on Thursday afternoon, I just don't know if it would make a lot of sense. Most of the big stars aren't in town yet. Most of the fans, unless you live in that area, most of the fans aren't in town yet. So it just, unfortunately, doesn't make sense here.
Starting point is 00:25:15 But that doesn't mean it won't make sense somewhere else. And I've thought about, what if we just pick a random city? What if we just pick a random city and a random Friday night and we do it then? That's a possibility. I just don't know how many wrestling fans would be in whatever city that is without something big, like a SummerSlam or a WrestleMania or a double or nothing or an all out or whatever it happens to be. I just don't know if we did an event at, say, a comedy club or a concert venue on a random un-wrestling-related weekend. I just don't know. I don't know if we'd get
Starting point is 00:25:53 everybody there that I'd want. I want a ruckus crowd. I want everybody to be singing along when my entrance theme comes out. It's Inside with Chris Van Ville. So if and when it does happen, you will be the first to know because I'm always giving you guys here on the podcast. I'm always giving you the inside look at the inner workings of all of this.
Starting point is 00:26:18 So that's where we're at, Steve, with the Cleveland show. But I'll be around. I will be around. That is my, that's my American hometown. Cleveland was the very first city that I lived in in the U.S.
Starting point is 00:26:31 I have nothing but so much love for Cleveland. So I will be around. the city, I'll either see you at Cleveland Brown Stadium for Smackdown or I will see you on West Sixth Street before or for SummerSlam, not Smackdown. My good, you imagine Smackdown in a football stadium. I will either see you at Cleveland Brown Stadium for SummerSlam or I'll see you at the street party before on West Sixth Street. Either way, I will see you there. Brad Seneca. Seneca. There's like an accent above the E there. He wrote this one on Spotify, Haskell.
Starting point is 00:27:07 hashtag ask CVV. Hey Chris, love the podcast. Thanks for your hard work. You've mentioned that you have a love for pop punk music. I was wondering, what are your favorite bands in that genre? Cheers from Montreal, Brad. Well, merci, Brad. Trey bien. Thank you so much for that question. I pop punk was like other than WWE wrestling themes, pop punk was the soundtrack to my youth. The soundtrack, especially like my later years of high school and into college. So favorite band. I feel like I'm going to transport you guys right now into a time machine right to like the year 1999, 2000, 2001. Blink 182, some 41, newfound glory, yellow card, story of the year. Starting line, senses fail, Hawthorne Heights, Motion City soundtrack, Dashboard Confessional, although I don't know if they're really pop punk so much as maybe their emo. All-American Rejects. This is not an exhaustive list, by the way, but those are, some of my favorite bands. I was actually just listening to Ocean City soundtrack in the truck the other day.
Starting point is 00:28:12 And I was like, oh, yeah, tell me that you're all right, that everything is all right. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, maybe just skip past the next 15, 30 seconds. I'm also a really big fan of the Dangerous Summer. If we're talking about like a newer era of pop punk music, love the dangerous summer. Those guys are my friends. I've been to many of their shows. I had them on the podcast. was that two years ago, spent the day with them, had a bunch of drinks with them. Good dudes, really good dudes. So there's lots of bands that I love.
Starting point is 00:28:47 I'll throw another, I'll throw another relatively recent pop punk band in the mix here as well, knuckle puck. So there you go. I'm still a big fan of pop punk music. I listen to pretty much everything now, like big into country, big into hip hop. If you listened to my episode a few weeks ago,
Starting point is 00:29:06 I was talking about how I have a lot of, a real soft spot still for pop music. Yeah, I listen to a little bit of everything. Rock, classic rock. Yeah, so a little bit of everything, but pop punk will always have a very special place in my heart. Alex Hemingway sent this one on Spotify. Hey, Chris, been listening for about a year now. Thank you so much. But I recently saw that you were at dinner with Undertaker, Maven, and others. How was that? And could we be expecting that Taker episode soon? You saw it. Yes. What a day. What a day. So I was in Austin on Monday. And I was a guest on The Undertaker's
Starting point is 00:29:48 podcast six feet under with his co-host Matt Lida. I still can't believe that I'm saying that sentence out loud. I was a guest on the Undertaker's podcast. Crazy. Then later that day, we went to the Undertaker's house and we filmed an almost two-hour interview for my show inside his gym. His gym is insane, by the way. And you'll see when that video comes out. So I was a guest on his show. He was a guest on my show. He tells such amazing stories.
Starting point is 00:30:23 And then that night, we went out to dinner. So they batch record all of their episodes for the podcast as well. So it was me. The Undertaker, Maven, Midian, the Godfather, and a few other guys thrown in there like producers of the show
Starting point is 00:30:41 or friends, what a crew. We went to a steakhouse in Austin and we had ourselves a time. And there's a lot of things that happened that night that will never see or hear the light of day. We will just keep that at the table.
Starting point is 00:30:57 But wow, I still can't believe everything that happened that day. So I believe that they release episodes on Monday. And go check out their podcast. There's a reason why six feet under is the number one wrestling podcast on the planet. And I don't want to, I don't want to toot my own horn here, but I'd say there's a reason why we're right behind there. And it's for guests like The Undertaker or, you know, all the other guests we've had
Starting point is 00:31:25 over the last little while here. They release episodes on Monday. Go subscribe now so you don't miss it. this, go follow the show wherever you're listening to this right now. They're releasing it, I believe, on the 17th. And then the next day, because you know that we release episodes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, the next day will be the Undertaker episode. So it's a double whammy there. Monday, June 17th, I'm a guest on six feet under with Mark Callaway. On Tuesday, Mark Calloway is a guest on Insight with Chris Van Fleet. So you won't want to miss those
Starting point is 00:31:58 wild. And that's so cool that you caught that. Maven, we didn't have phones out at all during the entire dinner. And right towards the end, after we had the dinner incredible homohock steak, ribby, oh my goodness, it was so good. After we had the dinner and after we had dessert and after we had a little bit of wine, Maven took out his camera, made a very quick video there that you can check out on his Instagram. He tagged me in that. I shared it on my story. And he just got a quick video of what was going on. And The Undertaker happened to be right there filling out the check. So it was just so cool. Also, fun fact, fun little side story here. We're all there. We're hanging out and Maven's nowhere to be found. And we knew that he was supposed to be joining us. The reservation was at like
Starting point is 00:32:50 745 and it was already like, it was after eight at this point. It's like, where's Maven? Maven went to the wrong steakhouse. There's two stakehouses with the same name in Austin, and he went to the wrong location. So then he ended up coming, oh, my goodness, I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry, I'm light. Went to the wrong one. That Maven impression is like a four and a half out of ten.
Starting point is 00:33:15 But it was very cool. And I'm completely honored to have been asked to be a guest on Mark's podcast. And so honored, so grateful that he gave me the time for my show. And it's funny, we started recording. And I said, do we have like, what time do we need to get out of here? I know we've got a dinner reservation later. He goes, no, one, talk as long as you want. Oh, all right.
Starting point is 00:33:39 And talked for like whatever it was, almost two hours. So keep an eye out for that one. And if you aren't following the show right now, that is a great reason to be following the show so you don't miss that one. Stephen Salas on Facebook says, who's your favorite referee? Well, I always love the way that Mike Kyoto did his calls.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Like, I just love the way that, I love the way he did two, like it was the bullhorn, like with his pinky finger and his index finger. Two, two! I also love the way that he would check on someone during a submission. What do you say?
Starting point is 00:34:14 What do you say? What do you say? I always loved that. He's been my favorite referee for years. and now that I'm friends with Mike all these years later, that just makes me like him that much more. He is such a good dude. I was texting with him earlier today,
Starting point is 00:34:29 just about something so random and so silly. So Mike Kyoto, the very top of that list, but I could go one too here with Charles Robinson as well. And this is, of course, no disrespect to any of the other incredible men and women who are referees, but I just Charles Robinson still doing it with the best of them. And there's a reason why Charles Robinson is the guy who's calling Cody's matches. I think that there's a special relationship there with Cody and Charles Robinson.
Starting point is 00:35:00 In fact, when I interview either one of those people, whether it's Cody again or Charles for the first time, I got to ask, you know, what's the relationship there? But that moment at the end of WrestleMania 40 where Charles is presenting the championship to Cody, and you can see in Charles Robinson's eyes, how much. this moment means to Cody and he's he's passing it off to him like here it is man finished the story here it and the way that Cody looks down at the championship something there's something there so those are those are my favorite referees and again it's no disrespect to all of the other many great referees that there have been over the years and that they're currently
Starting point is 00:35:38 are but those are personally two of my favorites and I think when you talk about favorite anything best anything Mount Rushmore of anything it always comes back to nostalgia and it comes back to like where were you who were the people during that time and like what do they mean to you so yeah those are those are the people for me and if you have the chance to meet mike kiotta do not pass up that opportunity he does a handful of these conventions not a lot of them so when you do see him at a convention it's a pretty big deal i think go out of your way to do whatever you can to meet him Blake Blake good job Cobb on Instagram. At good job, Cobb says, ask CVV number 34 with the way streaming is changing,
Starting point is 00:36:26 the way that we watch TV shows, movies, and even some pay-per-view events, and specifically the Netflix-W-E deal. Do you think starting to get live or taped wrestling events to watch on the various, do you think we'll start getting live or taped wrestling events to watch on the various streaming apps? Nothing hits like live TV. So, Blake, I think that that. the as long as they are able to continue doing live and there's no reason why they can't there's going to be a strong hunger for that this is the reason why the tv deals for basketball baseball and especially football are so big because nothing beats live like when it happens live you know it's happening in that exact moment when you're watching something that's pre-taped it just takes the
Starting point is 00:37:19 some of the specialness away. It just isn't there because you know like, oh, yeah, this happened earlier in the day or this happened earlier in the week or whatever the case might be. And, you know, sometimes there's the, especially if there's going to be a crowd, if you've got a stadium full of people and you pre-tape an event, one of those 80,000 people, I don't care what they signed or what they agreed to. One of those 80,000 people is going to post a photo or they're going to leak that information. So nothing hits like live. And that's also the reason why USA was willing to pay so much for WWE. That's the reason why the Smackdown deal on Fox five years ago was so big. And that's the reason why Netflix has paid $5 billion with a B dollars.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Because when something happens at 807 Eastern time and it's live, it is happening in that exact moment. Sure, you can rewind or you can watch it again later on. but watching it live, there's something that's, you know, really novel about that. So I think that we're going to start to see more streaming pay-per-view events. And I know I've been saying for a long time, all eyes are going to be on that Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight. Obviously, that's postponed right now. When that fight happens and I hope that fight still happens.
Starting point is 00:38:40 I hope that everything can still go through in the fall for that to still be a thing. all eyes are going to be on that because Netflix is going to break some serious records with that. And I think they proved it with the roast of Tom Brady. Like that was a live comedy event. That wasn't just something that like happens to be on the home screen. I guess I'll watch that, you know, this weekend. That was live. And that was what was so cool about that.
Starting point is 00:39:03 That's going to be the case with the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight. That's going to be the case every single Monday on Netflix. So I will not be surprised if the peacock deal. ends at some point and Netflix ends up getting a PLE or two or three or all of them because there's something that is just so valuable about getting the live viewer. I mean, think about how many eyeballs the Super Bowl gets. And Super Bowl gets over 100 million people watching at its peak. It's because it's an event that's happening in this exact moment. The same thing with, again, talking about fights that could.
Starting point is 00:39:44 be postponed. Fingers crossed here. But when you talk about Connor McGregor fighting, like it's an event when Connor McGregor fights. Even if you're not an MMA fan or you're not a UFC fan, you know who Connor McGregor is, you know what he's all about, and you're, you're interested. So when Connor McGregor takes on Michael Chandler, UFC 303 at the end of the month, June 29th, that's an event. That's going to probably, I would put some money on it. I would bet that that's going to be UFC's most purchased pay-per-view of the year. because it's a big name and a big fight.
Starting point is 00:40:16 If we're talking about betting here, if you are into betting, mybooky.ag, use the code CVV when you sign up. You'll get a 50% welcome bonus. And at last check here, McGregor was the underdog. Very, very slight underdog,
Starting point is 00:40:32 but if you think he's going to win, you've got a real chance there to turn your money into something a little bit more. And yes, you've heard me talk about it before if you watch on YouTube. You can bet on WWE PLEs at MyBooky as well. I know it's crazy to say that, but I've been doing it the last few PLEs. I've made some money because I was pretty confident that Nia Jacks was going to win.
Starting point is 00:40:55 I was a very, very confident. I think we all were that Cody Rhodes was going to retain the championship. So the odds are usually not up until a day or two before, but Clash of the Castle is right around the corner. Check out my bookie on like the Thursday or the Friday or even early on, like, very early on Saturday. and you'll see the odds on there. Again, sign up with my code CVV, and you'll get a sweet little bonus on there because, look, you already know
Starting point is 00:41:23 who's going to win a lot of these matches. Let's not pull any punches. Some of them seem a little bit obvious. So why not make a little bit of money while you're at it? Eric Whedon set this one in on Spotify. Which modern day wrestler do you think would thrive most if they were transplanted to the late 80s or early 90s? And who do you think from then would be crushing it
Starting point is 00:41:45 if they were transplanted to today. I love these kinds of questions. Who would crush it from now if we put them back in the late 80s, early 90s? The name that immediately comes to mind is Gunther. Just the style of wrestler that he is, the type of character that he is, he would thrive.
Starting point is 00:42:03 I'm fairly certain he is a future world champion in this current era, but he would have for sure been a champion in that era as well. I would have, I'm very excited to see what he is going to do, here with the continuation of the run that he's on right now. Do we think he's going to win at SummerSlam? Probably, right? Ooh, ooh. I mean, I've already thought about this, but I haven't said it
Starting point is 00:42:31 out loud. Damien Priest, Drew, Clash of the Castle, Drew wins, gets that massive moment there. then we get Drew versus Gunther SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship. This stuff writes itself, my friends. Man, that'll be fantastic. And I've seen people pointing out the fact online that if Damien Priest loses that he will, if he loses a Clash of the Castle, he will have been the champion for 69 days. I don't know. This is a funny, silly little boyish joke in there.
Starting point is 00:43:10 but it's going to be very interesting and the wrestler from then that would do well now Jake the Snake Roberts was so ahead of his time with the just the intensity that he cut his promos in an era
Starting point is 00:43:25 when everybody was doing the over the top yelling at the camera like yeah well this match is coming up this weekend like everyone was talking in that like they were yelling he spoke so softly and he really got you to listen to everything
Starting point is 00:43:40 he was saying. That's not a very good Jake the Snake Robert's impression, but you know exactly what I'm talking about here. Jake the Snake would thrive in any era. He did thrive in that era. And it's crazy that Jake the Snake, obviously a Hall of Famer, but it's amazing that he was able to, with everything he accomplished in his career, he never won a championship in WWE.
Starting point is 00:44:01 It goes to show that you don't need a championship to get over. So Jake the Snake would for sure, I mean, he would, in any era, that guy's successful. Also, macho man Randy Savage. The way that he worked in the ring was just so good. And there's so many matches that if you think about it now, I mean, how good would Kurt Engel versus macho man be? Oh, amazing. How good would Cody versus macho man be? There's just a lot of those dream matches that I think about a lot that obviously can't get because they're generational matches.
Starting point is 00:44:34 But those are the two that pop right into my head. Janatus? See, this is the thing about usernames. They're all together as one word. I don't know. J-A-N-A-T-E-S-3794. Janatus. That's what we're going to go with. Hey, Chris, big fan. Hope my question makes it onto the Shaquille O'Neal episode of Ask CVV. Well, we're doing it right now. We're here. If you could bring back Brock Lesnar right now, who was the first person you'd have him face?
Starting point is 00:45:02 And why? Well, I think there's a few big matches here that immediately pop. into my head. A match with Gunther, that feels like, that feels like a match that's still, I think, going to happen at some point in time. And maybe if things play out the way that I was just talking about there with Gunther taking on Drew for the championship, World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, maybe something falls out from that. Maybe it's Survivor Series. It's Gunther versus Brock. I know that this is something that they were lining up. This is something that they were working on when they were heading into the Royal Rumble.
Starting point is 00:45:38 So I feel like that's still a storyline that they've got in their back pocket that they would pick back up there. The other one that I think could make sense is Cody. It's been a year, almost exactly a year since they last touched and they last had their series of two matches. So there could be one more match in there. I mean, one, one, right? So I feel like there could be another match in there.
Starting point is 00:46:02 So Brock Lezor, Cody, you know, pick that one right back up. just be interesting to see when Brock comes back. And when he comes back, is it, is it a PLE? Does he come back at the end of a PLE and, you know, make us think about, oh my gosh, this is going to set up something for the future? Does he come back on Raw or Smackdown? I could see if Brock doesn't come back this year, like this calendar year, I could see Brock making an appearance on the very first episode of Netflix, of Raw on Netflix. I could see that being a thing. Because I'm sure. I'm sure. even though it's June right now, I'm sure they're already starting to talk with the studio heads at Netflix and everybody, you know, it's way up the chain there. I'm sure they're already talking about
Starting point is 00:46:45 what can we do on that first episode of raw on Netflix? It's going to blow everyone away. It's going to make everyone go, oh my gosh, this is different. So I've, if Brock doesn't return this year, my money is on that. We'll see. Rye Squires 1.0.0.5.5. 003 on Instagram says, what was your first wrestling event? My very first wrestling event that I attended live was an indie show in Toronto, I guess technically in Scarborough. No, I think it was Toronto. It was Apocalypse Wrestling Federation, the AWF.
Starting point is 00:47:24 And it's run by Ron Hutchinson, who Ron Hutchinson ran a wrestling school in Toronto, and he's the guy who famously trained Edge and Christian and Gail Kim. And I was such a big wrestling fan. It's like especially at that time, 15, 16 years old. And I had no idea that indie wrestling even existed. And I'm sure you can relate to this. Like we watch WWE or WCW at the time or ECW on TV. But you don't realize that there's, oh, there's like stuff I can go see like 20 minutes
Starting point is 00:47:57 from my house. So I remember going to that at Cactus Peets and the ceiling was really low. So they couldn't jump off the top. They could jump off the middle rope for those moves. And I remember seeing Jason Sensation wrestled there. I remember seeing Gail Kim debut there. She was wearing a mask and her character was named La Fulina. I remember seeing all of those people.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Tony Mack wrestled there. I remember Flesh Gordon wrestling there. Yeah, it's amazing. This is bringing back so many memories. So that was my first wrestling event. My first WWE event was, I think, later that year. I saw a house show at the Skydome. I'm actually going to Google the date on this.
Starting point is 00:48:42 And that's actually pretty crazy to think about that there was a house show or a live event, as we're called them now, a house show at the Skydome. Like Skydome seats 50,000 people. For them to do a live event there, I think just totally speaks to how popular wrestling was at that time. So let's see. WWF House Show Skydome, Toronto, 1999. That would have been. Here it is.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Oh, my gosh. Here it is. Oh, there's more than, no, it's July 24th, 1999. Is this it? This is it. Oh, my gosh. Wow. You can find anything on the internet.
Starting point is 00:49:25 How crazy is that that? That there was a house show at the Skydow. I think it wasn't sold out. It wasn't $50. thousand people in the sky to them. I think it was like 25,000 for a house show. Let me give you the let me give you the rundown here. The godfather and Valvinus defeated Gangrel and Prince Albert. Test defeated meat. Oh, meat! That was a big fan of Sean Stasiak. That's great. Edging Christian defeated the Acolytes. Deilo Brown defeated Midian. I believe he was naked Midian at that time.
Starting point is 00:49:57 The Hardy Boys defeated Kane and Xbox to retain the WWF tag team championship. Edge defeated Jeff Jarrett to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. There was a title change. I don't remember that. There was a title change at a house show. Crazy. Road Dog defeated Billy Gunn in a dog color match. The Rock defeated the big boss man in a nightstick on a pole match.
Starting point is 00:50:23 I remember that because the Rock cut this like very, very long promo. It was like 20 minutes or something. It was just like, oh, man, without TV here, we can just go on as long as we want. The Undertaker defeated the big show in a steel cage match and Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Triple H by disqualification to retain the WWF championship. What a freaking lineup for a house show.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Wow. So that was the very first house show that I got. I remember getting tickets. My birthday's May 19th. as I'm sure you may know. And, man, was that the first show?
Starting point is 00:51:03 I don't know. I think it was. And I got a, I got given tickets for, for my birthday to go to that show. And I was like, what, this is an extremely thoughtful birthday present.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Wow. Crazy. Think that was the one. I don't know. I could be wrong. Because I think maybe, I don't know. I'm pretty sure that was the one.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Yeah. Yeah. What a lineup. How show it. Skydome. That's crazy. You're obviously sending me down memory lane here. I'm getting all the feels.
Starting point is 00:51:38 All the feels on this one. Sam Michelson on Twitter says, Chris, you are in great shape. I can't believe you're 41. Happy belated birthday, by the way. What does your exercise routine look like? And what's your favorite cheat meal? Well, that is awfully kind of you.
Starting point is 00:51:54 So thank you, Sam. I'm on a workout right now that I would say is like push pull, like push pull and then legs and shoulders as well. So push pull meaning push being chest and tries and then pull being back and buys. And then we got shoulders and legs on another day. And then I'm, so I'm in the gym four or five days a week. So that kind of like cycles over. So if it started the week with chest and tries, that happens twice a week. If I start the next week with back and buys, that happens twice a week. So I'm doing maybe each body part one and a half times a week. One of the biggest things that I'm
Starting point is 00:52:28 doing now in the last couple of years that I wasn't doing as much certainly not my 20s or when I started working out when I was 15 is I'm doing a lot more cardio so a lot of walking whether that's like this morning I went for a walk with my daughter Logan we just I pushed the stroller and we walked for half an hour or whether it's if Logan's not awake or if she's taking a nap it's walking on the treadmill a lot of walking I think that's been a really big part of it and then in terms of like eating I just I have a real soft spot for pizza. I'd say pizza is my number one cheat meal. Derserts as well.
Starting point is 00:53:05 If you put a slice of apple pie in front of me or you put a birthday cake in front of me, I'm going to be, I'm going to be eating that. There's going to be no way that I'm going to come up with any sort of excuse not to eat it. When we went out to dinner on Monday with The Undertaker, there was a banana cream pie was on the menu. And I ordered it.
Starting point is 00:53:25 And it's delicious. It's on the menu. Of course I'm going to order this. Look over. Who else ordered it? The Undertaker also ordered it. So we were both eating the banana cream pie. It was great.
Starting point is 00:53:37 But those are my cheat meals. It's either pizza and wings or it's some sort of a dessert item. Like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies are one of my kryptonites for sure. But for most of the meals, for the, generally speaking, for the meals that I'm eating, trying to get some sort of a clean protein. So whether that's chicken or turkey or salmon ate salmon last night or eggs. I eat eggs for breakfast every morning. Something like that.
Starting point is 00:54:08 So it's a protein. It's a carb. And it's something green, whether that's spinach or it's broccoli or it's asparagus or Brussels or Brussels sprouts. That's basically the boring stuff. You know all about that. But I think the most important thing is just consistency. You know, you're not going to get huge or you're not going to.
Starting point is 00:54:27 going to get ripped by going to the gym once and you're not going to get ripped or huge lean whatever it happens whatever you're looking to do you're not going to do that by going you know for a week or a month it's it's about consistency it's about brick by brick continuing to build that proverbial house one brick at a time crow the burb crow the burb on on instagram says are you going to get in the ring at some point i don't think i'll be doing that i don't think i'll be doing that i don't think will not be having a match anytime soon. At least I don't think so. But I will be getting into the ring this Saturday at Booker T's reality of wrestling
Starting point is 00:55:07 show. So I'm going to be in Houston, like I said, I'm flying to Houston right after this episode. Going to be doing some interviews there. And Booker T said, well, while you're here, do you want to do something on the show? And I said, absolutely. So I will be in the ring at reality of wrestling. I don't know what I'm doing. I think I'm doing some sort of an interview segment or something like that.
Starting point is 00:55:31 I'm going to be at reality of wrestling. This Saturday, I'm just going to pull up all the info here. It is in Texas City, right? Some flying into Houston and then it's, yeah, so it's Texas City. It is Ring of Honor. A Ring of Honor. It is Reality of Wrestling. Geez.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Roe, R-O-W, reality of wrestling, power shift at the Walter, Texas lawyer arena happening this Saturday night, doors at 6.30, bell time at 7. I will see you there in Texas City, Texas. I believe they're sold out or they're really close to being sold out. So if you live in that in and around that area, go to Reality of Wrestling.com, see if you can grab a ticket or show up at the door, see if you can grab one there. But if you've never been to one of Booker shows or if you've never seen reality of wrestling, they do it right.
Starting point is 00:56:26 They're like the last one I went to last year, I was like seven or 800 people there. Like these are big, loud shows. And I'm honored to have been invited to be a part of this. So yes, I will be getting into a ring at some point on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:56:44 I will not be having a match, though. I don't, nobody wants to see that. I don't think that'll be happening any time soon. But I will be, I will be in the ring on Saturday. And I'll be posting clips online. I can't wait for that. And my goodness, here we are at the last question of Ask CVV number 34, the Walter Payton edition.
Starting point is 00:57:03 Thank you guys so much for hanging out with us and listening all the way until the very end. Thank you for all the great questions that you guys sent in. If you've got a question for the next one for Ask CVV number 35, the addition of that to be determined by you, send it in using that hashtag AskCV, leave it in the comment slash question Q&A, of Spotify or shoot me an email. Ask CVV at chrisvainly.com. CVV at chrisvainvly.com.
Starting point is 00:57:31 This one came in via email. This is from Dakota Johnson. Not to be confused with the Dakota Johnson, the actress, who I had a very memorable moment with eight years ago. My goodness, that was eight years ago when we did that. Wow. But Dakota Johnson sent this one in, and it just, coincidentally, it is a movie question as well.
Starting point is 00:57:50 With movies like Fast and Furious, Planet of the Apes, Jurassic Park and now happy Go More 2, in your opinion, does redoing these movies over and over make the franchise worse slash other movies worse or better and why? P.S, you 100% deserve the number one wrestling podcast. You're the goat CVV double PS. So that's PPS. Thank you for helping me to be grateful. We in the CVV club are so incredibly grateful for you and the amazing in-depth interviews. You're the man. Keep it up. Thank you so much, Dakota. I think that we are always going to see these remakes, these reboots of franchises because, again, nostalgia is a hell of a drug. And I think what movie studios are always banking on with these big summer tent pole films is they're banking on the franchise.
Starting point is 00:58:40 People know Jurassic Park. People know Planet of the Apes. People know Fast and Fears. What are we on? We've done 10 of these, right? So I think they're banking on, there's a built-in audience there. So even if the movie's not great, and if we're being honest, a lot of these sequels and prequels and reboots have not been great. And I think if we're being generous, some of them are, okay. Then you get some that fall into the category of like, oh, these are amazing. Like rebooting Planet of the Apes decades later, yeah, that one makes sense, especially when the movies are as good as they are. And you've got people like Andy Circus knocking out of the park with their incredible performances. Great writing in those.
Starting point is 00:59:24 And I think that when you, I don't know, but I guess on the flip side of this, when you do it with other franchises where you're just doing it for the sake of doing it, I don't know. Some of those don't make a lot of sense. Like some of them you're digging deep to make it happen. But there's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes at any movie studio than we could possibly try to wrap our heads around here. and they're putting up hundreds of millions of dollars as a bet, as a gamble with the hope that through great marketing, through some big names being in the movie, and through doing a whole bunch of press and interviews around that, they're banking that they can get their $250 million back or their $300 million back or whatever it happens to be. And there's a lot that's going on here.
Starting point is 01:00:17 And I think that when you bring in a new story that people aren't familiar with that needs explaining because it's not a known franchise, it's not a known IP, those are more difficult. And that's why you see a lot of studios aren't willing to bet sometimes on a story that needs some explaining. It's a really interesting time that we're living in right now when it comes to the movies. Because we've got all this great access at home. And I'm still a huge believer that nothing beats the experience of going to a theater. Like nothing beats like getting the popcorn.
Starting point is 01:00:57 And if you're into getting a soda, like getting that soda from the big machine, you're touching on the touchscreen and choosing, oh, I'm going to mix a little bit of this flavor with that flavor. And then going in there and watching the trailers on the big screen and, you know, we've got these incredible movie theaters now where you've got the comfy seats and sometimes you're bringing the food to you. Nothing beats that experience of seeing a movie, especially a comedy or a huge action movie like The Avengers with a huge crowd on opening night.
Starting point is 01:01:28 Nothing beats that, like being there for the live experience. It's almost akin to like being there for a live sporting event or a live wrestling show. But there's a lot of competition here. And the pandemic showed us that, yes, you can deliver movies directly to the viewer, directly to the consumer at home. but nothing beats that theatrical experience. And I think that people are just hungry, especially after that time from 2020 to about 2022, where there wasn't really any options, right?
Starting point is 01:02:00 We were all forced to stay in our homes and all the events were canceled. And I think that people were really starved for like that human connection and that human experience. Like it's the, we watched enough wrestling during that time to know, you know, wrestling,
Starting point is 01:02:16 with no crowds, just not really the same. So all of that is to say that movie studios are putting a bet on a lot of things here. A big bet is on the IP. So I think when you have an IP intellectual property that people recognize, you're already, you're already have an established audience that you know is going to come out and see this. And that's like some of my favorite movies are like smaller film, like Ex Machina or Memento. We could go deep down a rabbit hole with this one, but there's a lot of those movies that aren't huge budgets, but they tell an amazing story when the movie's over.
Starting point is 01:02:55 Oh, my gosh, we've got so much to talk about here. So I don't think it weakens, like I don't think the original Jurassic Park trilogy is any weaker because of the Jurassic World series that we've got going on right now. They're just doing that for a different audience. So I think of Jurassic Park, for example, I think you've got a lot of parents that are going, oh, Jurassic Park was great.
Starting point is 01:03:19 I bet my kids who are eight or 10 or 12 or whatever, I bet they would really like this Jurassic World thing because I really liked that when I was around their age. So I think there's a lot more that's going on than we really realize. And look, when Happy Gomore 2 comes out on Netflix, don't tell me you're not going to be watching that. And I don't think it makes Happy Gomore 1 any less incredible. I mean, that's an all-time, classic comedy. But I'm really excited to see where they go with this story.
Starting point is 01:03:49 And I always love when they, especially when they do a sequel like 20 years later like this, or I guess it's more than that. I always love when they bring back the old characters and they tie it in in some sort of way. And you're like, ah, look at that. Like there'll be some, this is a guess, obviously. But how cool would it be? Even though Bob Barker's not with us anymore. What if there is some sort of throwback to that classic scene from Happy Gilman?
Starting point is 01:04:13 What if it's Drew Carey that ends up getting into it on the golf course with Happy Gilmore? I don't know. I just, I think that that stuff is really interesting. And again, back to the main point here, nostalgia is a hell of a drug. And I think that if you can feed someone nostalgia, whether it's in the form of music or in the form of a movie or some sort of other element of pop culture, people really love that. So just as long as they don't remake Back to the Future. And Robert Zemeckis, the director Back to the Future,
Starting point is 01:04:44 says that will not happen. And he also says, we're not doing Back to the Future four. There's not a, another one is not coming here. As long as they don't redo that. I'm good. But look how good redoing Top Gun was. Like take some elements from the original film. And here we go.
Starting point is 01:04:59 What's that? Almost 40 years later. Let's redo the movie. Tie in some of those elements, but with a completely new story. I would argue the Top Gun Mavericks better than the original. I think it's a thing you can make a real strong argument for that one. But thank you for the great question that really sent me down a rabbit hole here.
Starting point is 01:05:19 I appreciate all the questions on this one. Thank you guys so much for hanging out with us. It's always just such a blast hanging out with you guys on these episodes. And if you have questions for the next one, please send them in and we'll get to as many of them as possible. And I will leave you with a quote from Henry Ford that I've said before, but it's just one that just means so much to me. Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you're right. So think about that. Enjoy your weekend.
Starting point is 01:05:46 Hopefully I will see you in Texas City, Texas for reality of wrestling. It's going to be a good one. Be great. Be grateful. We will see you on the next one for some more insight. The Hammer Alley podcast, an 80s flashback mockumentary. Back in the 80s, there were a thousand bands trying to make it in the world of rock. But there was one band that had it all.
Starting point is 01:06:08 Hammer Alley. Whatever happened to Hammer Alley? How did they go from top of the rock? I'm looking for a music video. They're a band from 1987. Hammer Alley. Ever heard of them? To Rock Bottom.
Starting point is 01:06:20 Dude, I was born in 1987. I can't believe he's doing this. Hammer Allie. Follow and listen on your favorite platform.
