Starting point is 00:00:01 All right, welcome back to another one here on Insight. I'm CVV. Chris Van Fleet, so good to have you with us. Hope it's been a great week for you. Big weekend ahead. Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers who are listening right now. That is not a Christian Cage joke. That is a serious, being serious here.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Happy Father's Day to you, if you're a father or happy Father's Day to your father. Thank you for being with us. Thank you, as always, for following the show and sharing the show and helping to make insight one of the top wrestling podcasts on the planet. Welcome, my friends, to Ask CVV number 35, the Frank Thomas edition. Also, the Justin Verlander edition. And it's interesting as we're going through all the numbers and naming off the very famous people who are best known for wearing those numbers. some numbers really like lean towards certain sports like 35 of course there's basketball players Kevin Durant were 35 when he played for Phoenix of course there's some like there's just some numbers
Starting point is 00:01:30 that are like that's a basketball number that's a baseball number that's a hockey number that's a football number it's just interesting to me like when you think about like we're not going to be naming any baseball players when we get into like the 70s like 77 that's like there's not There's not going to be baseball players named. There might be, there's definitely going to be hockey players. Is that Ray Bork? I think that's Ray Bork.
Starting point is 00:01:52 We've got it. We got a while to figure that one out. But it's just, it's interesting how certain numbers just seem to work better in sports. I wore number 21 in baseball. And it just felt like a baseball number. I remember one of my buddies being like,
Starting point is 00:02:08 21, 24, and 25. Those are baseball numbers. And I'm like, you know what? You're right. Think of all the famous players. who have worn either 21, 24, or 25. It's really interesting. But welcome to Ask CVV number 35.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Thank you for being with us. Thank you for all the questions that you guys sent in using that hashtag. Ask CVV on social media or the comments on Spotify. It's been so cool. That Q&A section where it says, what did you think of this episode? We got so many from there. So thank you for sending those in. And of course, you can email them in.
Starting point is 00:02:43 CVV at chris fanfleet.com. We got a bunch. We got a bunch to get to here. And what a year. We're almost at the halfway point of 2024 already. And we've had some huge guests on the show, just this calendar year, just between January and now,
Starting point is 00:03:03 we've had, in no particular order here, we've had L.A. Knight, John Cena, the Undertaker, which is coming out next week, Ray Mysterio, which is coming out in two weeks, Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Dustin Rhodes. How are we going to top this? We've got the back nine here, if we're talking about golf terms here, the last six months of the year, how are we going to top that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:28 I do know Dave Matista has a new movie coming out in the next few months. So could we get Mr. Batista on the show? That would be a good one. So fingers crossed. Cross your fingers with me as well on that one. All right. Let's dive into these questions. The first one comes from Chris underscore Weatherby 14 on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Hey, Chris, from a fellow Chris, you rock. What are your predictions for Clash of the Castle? Well, look, I've never met a Chris that I don't like. And I will continue to say that every single time someone named Chris writes in. Or anytime I meet a Chris, I will continue to say I've never met a Chris that I don't like. Let's go through these one-by-one, the full match card prediction here. and we'll also look at the odds on my bookie. And if you sign up at my bookie and use,
Starting point is 00:04:16 use my code at CVV, you'll get a 50% welcome bonus on your first deposit. So yeah, you can bet on WWE PLEs, including Clash of the Castle, at my bookie. So a lot of these seem kind of obvious. So here's your chance to put a few bucks in your pocket.
Starting point is 00:04:33 WWE women's tag team championship, Bianca Bel Air and Jade Cargill defending against Alba. Fire and Ila Don versus Shana Basler and Zoe Stark. So when we look at the odds here, I kind of feel like we know, but Bianca Bel Air and Jade Cargill,
Starting point is 00:04:51 heavy favorites here. That's who I'm going to go with. Jade Cargo is going to be undefeated for a while, whether that's as a singles competitor or whether that's in a tag team. Maybe it leads all the way up to a match with Bianca Bel Air at WrestleMania in Las Vegas. Maybe that's where maybe,
Starting point is 00:05:08 I can't even see her losing that match. So I don't know, but I feel like she goes on a long, long run here of not losing. So it's not going to happen here in Scotland. But man, I'm excited for Clash of the Castle. Intercontinental Championship. It's Sammy Zane defending his intercontinental championship against Chad Gable. And this one, I feel like is the closest one.
Starting point is 00:05:32 This one truly feels like a coin toss to me. You could make a really strong case for either one of these. I think we can all agree Chad Gable's going to be the Intercontinental Champion at some point. Is it going to be this Saturday in Scotland? I don't know. Obviously, there's a big storyline here with Otis that is going to fall into place here and be insanely entertaining when that happens. But this could go either way.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Chad Gable can win, and then it ends up being Chad Gable versus Otis down the line for the under continental championship. Chad Gable could have the match cost. Otis could cost him the match. And Sammy Zane retains the championship. And then we have another round of this. But Chad Gable ends up being the champion at some point here. I would say, I'm going to go with Chad Gable on the series. He's a very slight favorite on my bookie at minus 150. I'm going to go with Chad Gable on this one. And again, if he doesn't win this weekend, he's the champion. He's the champion. He's the in the next few months, for sure. Then we move on to the WWW Women's Championship.
Starting point is 00:06:44 It's Bailey defending her championship against Piper Niven. It's got to be Bailey on this one. And she's like a massive, massive favorite there. So I, yeah, like I don't see that one going any other way. She's a minus 3,000, which is like a heavy, heavy. That's 30 to one odds. Heavy, heavy, heavy favorite there. The undisputed WWE,
Starting point is 00:07:07 championship will be in an I-quit match with Cody Rhodes and AJ Stiles. This is going to be amazing. Their first match together was one of the best matches of the year. An I-quit match here. I mean, really, anything goes. I just don't see Cody Rhodes not being the champion going into, at the very least, SummerSlam. I keep saying, and this isn't like a prediction.
Starting point is 00:07:34 This isn't, I don't know where the storyline goes. I just feel like he's the champion into the fall. So I feel like he's the champion in the Survivor Series. I don't know if he's the champion out of Survivor Series. I don't even know how far ahead I'm looking here. But I feel like he wins this one. And the odds agree with me on that one, Cody Rhodes, walking out of that I quit match as the undisputed WWE champion.
Starting point is 00:08:00 That means AJ Stiles is going to say or scream or whisper, I quit. And then we come to, for me, the most anticipated match of the evening. It's the World Heavyweight Championship Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre. I mean, the writings on the wall here. This match just writes itself. I mean, come on. Drew McIntyre, the hometown favorite.
Starting point is 00:08:27 He went to university half an hour away from where Clash of the Castle is happening. It just feels like this has to happen. They had the opportunity to do this before and they didn't do it. This is their opportunity to make that right. The odds say that Drew McIntyre is the favorite here. I've got to agree with that. Drew McIntyre has this moment. And, I mean, did he really have, did he really have the WrestleMania moment?
Starting point is 00:08:51 I mean, yeah, but he was a champion for all of four minutes. It was a cool moment. He wins the title. Then we got the, I mean, the great surprise there with the cash in and CM Punk costing him the championship. The only way that Drew McIntyre doesn't win this is if CM Punk has some shenanigans here. If CM Punk gets involved here and creates some sort of a side story. But the way that I see it is Drew McIntyre wins this, which then sets up the King of the Ring, Gunther versus Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, which is going to be the banger of all bangers
Starting point is 00:09:33 for the World Heavyweight Championship. That's the way that I see all this going. If you also see it going that way, sign up at my bookie.orgie.g. Use my promo code CVV, and you'll get yourself a nice little 50% welcome bonus on that first deposit. But this is going to be a just, it's going to be a great, great show. And I can't wait to hear that crowd in Scotland. They're just going to be going wild.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Jesse LG82 on Instagram says, do you think Rikoshae is really leaving the W.W.E. Or are they working us? There have obviously been a lot of reports this week that Rikoshae's contract is done, that he's out. We obviously saw him being written off TV on Monday. All of this is just speculation. None of this has been confirmed by either Rickashay or WWE. And I feel like that is important to point out. We are so quick to just point at the reports or the rumors and go, this is a fact. Until you hear it. hear these words out of Rickashay's mouth or until he makes an official statement about this, it still is just speculation. I do think that over the six years that he's been in WWE,
Starting point is 00:10:44 there were some opportunities where they could have taken him to the next level and he would have absolutely crushed it and he just wasn't given those opportunities. Will he thrive somewhere else if he does decide to go somewhere else? Possibly. Or is this a swerve? We write Rickashire off TV and Prince Puma comes back. I know it's been cute seeing these references from Pat McAfee, a little tie-in if you're a hardcore fan, if you know about his days as Prince Puma and especially the work that he did in Lucha Underground. What if he came back as Prince Puma? And it's just completely reinvigorates the character and just puts a whole different look. on everything. That is a real possibility here that I don't know if that's being discussed.
Starting point is 00:11:39 If his contract is indeed up and he's leaving, well, and he goes to AEW, we have the option. We have the opportunity to see some more magic getting made with Will Osprey. If you haven't seen any of their matches before, oh my goodness. So, so good. Now, that match that they put on in New Japan of the Super Juniors, that the match that, you know, really kind of got both of them on the map. I love that style of wrestling. Like in the late 90s, I was a huge fan of the first hour of WCW Nitro and watching the cruiserweight hour. I loved on ECW, like watching Kid Cash hit the Hurricane Rana out of, from anywhere, from any angle. I love that style of wrestling. That's not to say I can't appreciate a banger of a match like Drew McIntyre
Starting point is 00:12:33 versus Seamus versus Gunther, like, oh my gosh, I love that type of stuff too, but there's just something about watching two humans or however many humans happen to be in the match do things that I can't even physically imagine doing. And that's what happens when you see someone like Rickashay in the ring. He's just so innovative. I've always loved Rickishay. And I love Rickishay and Samantha together. They've always been so kind to me. Of course, both of them have been guests on the show before. You can go back into the archives and listen to both of those interviews individually. And hopefully we can get them back on the show again, individually, maybe together. I don't know. But I'm excited for whatever is next for RICOchet, whether that's within WWE or
Starting point is 00:13:17 whether that's somewhere else. At the end of the day, with all of this, whoever we're talking about, I just want that person to be happy. And I don't know if RICOchet is unhappy at all. But I know that with situations like Nick Nemeth seems super happy with everything that he's doing right now. And how could you not be excited about that? When someone's able to live their dream, do it on their own terms, and make a bunch of money while they're doing it, yeah, you can't argue with that. So is he really leaving the WWE or are they just working us? We're going to have to wait and see, but we've got a lot of very interesting options on the horizon for one Rick O'Shea.
Starting point is 00:14:01 was so silly. Dustin Jackson wrote this on Instagram at Jackson Action underscore 97. I have three questions but you can choose to answer one of them or all of them. I will choose to answer two of these. I feel like I've answered the other one already.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Of all the promotions, who has the best entrance music? Currently, it's really hard to argue against Edge. That's such a great entrance theme. It's one of those that the second you hear it, It's just like, yeah, it just like fires you up. Yeah, so that's a good one. Cody Rhodes is an easy answer.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And of course, I love the guys from Downstate. If you haven't heard me mention it before, I'm very pumped about this. Downstate is the one who they recorded the entrance theme for Insight with Chris Van Fleet. So the song you hear at the start of every podcast, that's Downstate. So I feel like me and Cody and Ms. and Dolph Ziegler and everybody else who, Matt Cardona, who has had a Downstate song, I feel like we are kindred spirits. And by the way, if you're a podcaster or a YouTuber or an independent wrestler and you're looking to stand out, Downstate will record an entrance theme for you.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Like this isn't some impossible thing to achieve. You can shoot them a message. They will send you their rate, standard rate, and you too could have an entrance theme from Downstate. Yeah. Like, the same band who wrote Cody Rhodes entrance theme will do your entrance theme. So those are two real quick ones off the top of my head. You ask for like right now of all the promotions.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Of all time. I mean, Undertaker for sure. Sandman in ECW. It's obviously a Metallica song and it's hard to argue against a Metallica song. But the entrance and smashing the beer cans on his head. Yeah, that's a good one. I got to get Sandman on the show. Your second question here is thoughts on Lucha Underground.
Starting point is 00:16:01 I am a huge Lucha Underground fan. And any opportunity that I get to talk to anybody involved with it, whether that's Chavo Guerrero or that's Rickishay or that's Carrying Cross, I love talking about Lucha Underground. It was something that was so special. And it's something that I felt like was taken away from us before we were ready for it to go. I loved the world that it operated in.
Starting point is 00:16:29 It was like its own underground world of K-Fabe that, I don't know, it blurred the lines in the strangest way. It was like kind of part sci-fi at times. And it was almost like, it was just, it's so unique. And the style of wrestling there was unmatched at that time. We're talking, what was that, 2016, 2017? in and around there. Just go back. If you've never seen it,
Starting point is 00:16:59 go back and just watch a few matches. And you'll be blown away by the talent. Like almost everybody from there has gone on to do way bigger things. So it just felt like there was a, it was a cool time before AEW had started up. And the Indies were hot. The Indies were packed full of talent.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Not that they aren't right now, but there was a lot of unsigned talent that Ray Mysterio was in Lucha Underground for a little while. He actually mentioned that in the interview that's coming out episode 619. So I'm a big fan of Luch Underground and I will, I went to the temple. That's what they called the arena. And it was cool because while it was a wrestling venue, it was also set up like it was a TV taping. And it was, it was small and it was intimate. And it was loud. Every single person in there wasn't just like a casual wrestling fan. Every single person in there was a hardcore wrestling
Starting point is 00:17:58 fan and they were going crazy for everything that happened in there. Really special environment. And it was just, they caught lightning in a bottle. It was just the right thing at the right time and they had the right talent, all of it together. So that's my take on Looch Underground. Mike emailed this one in. Mike, uh, belt, figures, and more. Hey, CVV. First off, I love the podcast. Keep killing it. Do you collect any wrestling memorabilia? Pictures, belts, figures? We have our own TikTok slash Instagram page showcasing our collection. It's belts, figures, and more. Just like to see what everybody else collects in the world. Thank you for your time. And thanks for being super cool when I met you at the world during
Starting point is 00:18:43 WrestleMania weekend. Well, thanks for sending this in, Mike. It was great to meet you there in Philly. I collect a few things. As I'm sitting in my office right now, looking around. here. Handful of wrestling things. I just recently started getting eight by tens signed by some of the legends that I've had the pleasure of speaking with. So I'm looking right now at some autographed and personalized. Like they write a little, hey Chris, and they write a few like kind words. We got a Hulk Hogan autograph. We got a John Sina autograph. Adam Copeland signed something. Christian Cage signed something. Booker T, Undertaker, Ray Mysterious. I've got those 8x10s.
Starting point is 00:19:25 I have a big gold that was signed by Goldberg years ago. That's a pretty cool one. I've also, if you've been listening to the show for the last few months, you know that I'm big into wrestling cards now. So I've got a, it's the start of a wrestling card collection. I've been really into the 1982 wrestling all-star cards, which is the Hulk Hogan rookie card and the Rick Flair rookie card.
Starting point is 00:19:56 I've got a few of those. And if you have any and you're looking to sell them, you know, send your boy a message. We might be able to work something out. I'm really interested in the Hulk Hogan and the Rick Flair of those wrestling, 19892 wrestling all-stars.
Starting point is 00:20:11 I also have a few other things. Like Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time. And I have the out of time license plate signed by Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. And my wife got this framed for me for Christmas. That's one of my prized possessions. I'm also a huge fan of the movie Scream and the whole Scream franchise.
Starting point is 00:20:33 And my buddy Mike, he owns Dark Parlor Originals, which is a private autograph signing company, Darkparlor Originals.com. You can check them out. They do a lot of signings with a lot of pro wrestlers. I have this scream poster signed by the entire cast. So that's hanging on my wall. I also lucked into a Muhammad Ali autograph. And it's the famous photo of him standing over. Is it Sunny Liston? Yeah, Sunny Liston.
Starting point is 00:21:00 And I got that one autograph. That's really it when it comes to, oh, of course, sorry. I don't know why I'm looking on the other side of the room here. I have a WrestleMania 18 poster. That was the first WrestleMania I ever attended at Skydome in Toronto when it was still called the Skydome. I have my ticket stub on the bottom left, and you'll be blown away to know that I sat in the 16th row for 135 Canadian dollars. That poster is signed by by Hogan. Here's the interesting thing. When Hulk Hogan signs something where he's NWO Hogan, he signs it Hollywood Hogan. And when he signs anything else where he's wearing the red and yellow, he signs it Hulk Hogan. You don't even have to ask him. He just instinctively does it. Like the men.
Starting point is 00:21:46 man in that photo staring down the rock is not Hulk Hogan. That's Hollywood Hogan. So I hope one day, fingers crossed, that the rock can sign the other half of the poster. So it's Hogan on one side, rock on the other side. So that's my very small memorabilia collection here. I'm sure it will continue to have a few things added to it, you know, as time continues to go on here. I would love to have a jersey, maybe hanging in the office or one day and if I ever move back east where they have basements. Maybe we have a basement with a jersey hanging on the wall. I don't know who's jersey. Maybe someone like one of the greats. I don't know. But that's the collection for now. So thanks, Mike, for the question. And maybe we ask,
Starting point is 00:22:40 ask it again, Mike, in like six months and we'll see what's changed in the collection. Maybe there'll be a few more things. Oh, Raymisterio, sign a mask for me. That is a brand new addition to the collection. An actual authentic Ray Mysterio mask. Like, how can you beat that? Starting point is 00:25:06 and before undertaking a new health care regimen, including EES system. Jake Ballo on Instagram says, how do you feel about Osprey versus Swerve? Think Swerve's run will end before it really begins? I can't wait for this match. These are two guys that are in their absolute prime, and they are both crushing it. And they both just approach wrestling in such a fascinating way.
Starting point is 00:25:35 And I just can't wait to see what they put on together. It feels to me like this culminates at all in, London, main event, Will Osprey, hometown, winning the AEW championship. That one just, like the Drew McIntyre story, that one just feels like it's obvious.
Starting point is 00:25:56 And that one feels like it's going to get a massive pop. But I'm so excited for both of these guys individually. They're two of my favorite wrestlers currently working today. If you're not watching a lot of AEW, just go watch a swerve match, go watch an Osprey match. oh my goodness these guys are fantastic so i i can't wait to see where all of this goes here swerve deserves
Starting point is 00:26:23 this swerve has worked his ass off the last few years and i love that he's getting his flowers now and i love that he's the aaew champion he is the face of of aew and it is not well deserved is well earned nolan miller emailed this one in question for cvv chris i've been listening to to your show for about a year or so, and I love it. But I've got one wrestling question and one non-wrestling question for you. My non-wrestling question for you, being Canadian, is it easier for you to measure using the metric or the U.S. customary measurement scale, which is the imperial system? And my wrestling question is, what is your favorite wrestler appearance in a TV show? I got to go with Vader on an episode of Boy Meets World. Oh, that's a good one. Love the show and keep up the good work,
Starting point is 00:27:12 Noah Miller from northwest Indiana. It's so funny because I've lived, I lived obviously the first part of my life in Canada. I moved to the U.S. when I was 26 and I've lived in the U.S. now for the last 14 years. It's so funny how some things, even though in Canada we use this, like, we use the system of like centimeters, you would never tell someone I'm 174 centimeters tall. So it's funny how some things are like just flip-flopped. Like the Canadian Football League does not measure things in meters. They measure things in yards. It's just funny how some things, I don't know, like your height is I'm six foot four,
Starting point is 00:28:00 however tall you happen to be. And you measure your weight in pounds. You're not measuring your weight in kilograms. This one always blows me away. Fahrenheit doesn't make a lot of sense unless you live in the U.S. I get it. And you grew up with Fahrenheit, and I'm Googling this to make sure which countries use Fahrenheit.
Starting point is 00:28:27 This thing, this blows me away. Outside of the United States, the only countries that use Fahrenheit are the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Palau, the Federated States. of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. Everybody else uses Celsius. And to me, Celsius just makes so much more sense. Like you just pick round numbers. What is water freeze at?
Starting point is 00:28:58 Well, it freezes at zero. What is water boil at? Well, how about 100? That's a nice round number. And in Fahrenheit, it's like, what should freezing be? I don't know. how about 32? Okay, great. What should the boiling point be? How does, how does 212 sound? Sign me up. Perfect. It's so funny, though, because we measure temperatures in Canada and, as I just pointed out, most of the rest of the world in Celsius, we still bake in Canada in Fahrenheit. Like, you will still preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Starting point is 00:29:38 or whatever. So it's like this weird mix-up. It's this weird mash-up of different things. Here's another example. You drive in kilometers, like in Canada, the measurements are in kilometers per hour. Yet when you're boating, the measurements are in miles per hour. Like I've told you guys many times, I've owned a few different bass boats, and you'd be like, you'd go into a no-wake zone, and you would measure your speed in miles. And when you're going down the lake, you would measure that speed in miles. Like my Ranger Z520C would go 73 miles an hour. You wouldn't talk about that.
Starting point is 00:30:18 That's well over 100 kilometers an hour. You wouldn't talk about that in kilometers an hour. So I don't, that's a hard question to answer because I kind of flip-flok between both of them. I think now that I've lived here for, you know, most my, yeah, for the majority of my adult life, miles makes more sense to me. I can easily do the conversion, though. Fahrenheit is starting to make sense, and I get it to Americans. I get it. You're like, you know what? When you say that it's 26 degrees Celsius, that just doesn't sound warm. I'm like, I understand that because 26 degrees Fahrenheit is pretty cold. I guess it's just whatever
Starting point is 00:31:03 you get used to. And I'm a, I'm a weird mix. between the both of them. I think I'm I think miles, let's go, miles, inches, pounds, I guess I am going with most of the American measurements here. Yeah, yeah, although isn't it always so funny? You'll see these measurements on the news where they'll be like, they measure things in like F-150s or they'll measure things in football fields. they'll be like, there's a sinkhole on the freeway that's the size of four F-150s. And you're like, yeah, I get that. That is a, that is a distinctly American thing.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Or they'll be like, wow, that's a really far distance. That's like four football fields away. I don't think that exists anywhere else. There's no other country that's measuring things in F-150s and football fields. I haven't even gone that far down the rabbit hole. For your second question, my favorite wrestling appearance on a TV show was that 70s show when The Rock and Ken Shamrock were on there.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I was such a big fan of both of them at the time. Still, I'm a big fan of both of them. And I remember taping that episode and watching it back and just being like, oh my gosh, like two of my favorite things are combining together. I can't even believe this. I was such a nerd for any sort of pop,
Starting point is 00:32:34 culture reference. Like when wrestling was into the in the mainstream, I was like, I can't, I can't believe it. Like, it just felt like it was like, we're finally being recognized as wrestling fans. I remember taping and downloading, like onto my computer, like digitizing when AAA did those nutrition commercials back in the day. It was just like him standing there, like being super jacked. I can't remember what product he was promoting. But I was like, oh, man, like this is so cool. like one of my favorite wrestlers. I have a poster of this guy on my wall and he's talking about,
Starting point is 00:33:08 like he's in a mainstream, like, nutrition commercial? Oh, this is just mind blowing to me. So there's a few of them for me. There's an email here from Scott Morr, Morsinski. He emailed this one and said, Hey, Chris, between my time at work
Starting point is 00:33:28 behind the desk and commuting, plus all the DIY projects in and around the house. I'm always looking for new good podcast because my feet doesn't refresh fast enough. I also listen to everything on 2x speed. So maybe I could skip the search and just slow down. I spoke extra fast there. So it was like 4x speed for you. Anyway, that's how I found your show.
Starting point is 00:33:47 And I started cold with number 33, the Patrick Waugh edition. And well, he's the coach. And I notice here that you're emailing from the New York Islanders. Oh my gosh. Shout out to a fellow hockey fan. So you said clearly this was meant to be because you found number 33, the Patrick Waugh, I'm a firm believer in signs like this, no coincidence. As I write this, the Oilers lost game one of the Stanley Cup finals, 3-0. Who is your pick for the series and who is your team in
Starting point is 00:34:14 general, if not Florida or Edmonton? Thanks for being a welcome new addition to my rotation. Be well, Scott. Well, as we sit here now, Scott, the series is two nothing for the Florida Panthers. And let's just take a look here. Is there a game. Oh, yeah, see, as I'm recording this right now, there's a game tonight. As I'm recording this right now, this series is two nothing. Florida up over the oilers, two nothing. It's difficult for me, as a Canadian, to not want a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup. I mean, it's, it just feels so inherently Canadian, the Stanley Cup in hockey. It sure feels like the Florida Panthers are just going to run away with this, so, though. So if I was a betting man, if this was, if I was, if I was
Starting point is 00:35:02 placing a bed on my bookie. I'm going to go with the Panthers. Also, I lived really close to where the Panthers played in Sunrise, Florida. I was like 20 minutes away when I lived in Fort Lauderdale. So it's hard to root against the Panthers. I will also say there's just something strange about watching hockey in June when it's 90-something degrees in Florida. Like you, you, you, leave the arena and it's like sweltering hot outside just doesn't feel like hockey weather to me. I was so used to like pulling up to the arena in my parents minivan and like treading through the snow to like go inside and you take off your big boots and you take off your big winter coat and you put on the skates and it's cold outside. It's cold in the arena. Like that's hockey weather
Starting point is 00:35:55 to me. There's just something strange about leaving a hockey game and I get the tonight's game is in Edmonton. There's just something strange about leaving an arena in June and it's like sweltering heat and like 100% humidity. It's just feel like hockey weather to me. So my team is the Leafs and it is difficult to be a Leafs fan. I understand that they have not won a Stanley Cup since they were five other teams in the league. Yeah, I'll say that again. They haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1967 when the original six were the only teams in the league. And every year they've got a good team. And every year they'll win, you know,
Starting point is 00:36:39 a handful of games early on in the season and people will start planning out that Stanley Cup parade in downtown Toronto. And then things always kind of fall apart in the playoffs. So it's, I'm also a Browns fan. Ooh, man, it's difficult being a Browns fan. and a Leafs fan. I'm a Blue Jays fan. I mean,
Starting point is 00:37:01 they won the World Series 31 years ago and also 32 years ago. So there's that. And basketball, I guess I'm a toss up there. It's either Raptors or Cavs. They've both been good recently.
Starting point is 00:37:17 Raptors, obviously, you know, being from Toronto, calves because I lived in Cleveland for five years. Still very, you know, man, has a big place in my heart. So there we go, Scott. Who do you got? You probably got the Panthers, right? I feel like it's going to be the Panthers. Marky Mark Markin, Marky Markin on Twitter says, do you think we're going to see L.A. Knight? L.A. Knight, yeah, versus Logan Paul at SummerSlam. And if so,
Starting point is 00:37:46 who wins? It sure does feel like we're leading up to Logan Paul versus L.A. Night at SummerSlam. I mean, let's give LA Knight a championship in WWI. I just, how does it happen at SummerSlam in Cleveland with someone who is so Cleveland? I get that Logan Paul doesn't live there anymore, but he is a very proud Clevelander. How can he go into his hometown as the champion and lose the championship? I mean, it could happen. It probably will happen. I just, that's, that's, that's, that's,
Starting point is 00:38:24 seems like a it seems like an interesting choice but yes i think we're going to see l a night logan paul at summer slam and i feel like it's finally going to be la night's time and then where does he go with it from there does he parlay that in six months or a year into the world heavyweight championship man that'd be nice go take a look at his run and impact the man has heavyweight champion material written all over him i mean you already knew that i don't know that i don't have to tell you that. Here's an email from Noel Cramp. Hey, CVV, what do you think the Andre the Battle, what do you think of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal? Should it be retired or put back on the WrestleMania card? Should they do something with the winner? If so, what? I think it's
Starting point is 00:39:13 a wasted opportunity as they literally ignore it completely the next night. They had an awesome chance to do something with Broken Matt slash Woken Matt when he won it. And he could have communed with the giant known as Andre. But his tag run with Bray would have been on par with his character. Thoughts on what to do with this match, if anything. It needs to mean something. It means to mean, I'm totally with you here, Noel. It needs to mean something like where it's, is it a title shot?
Starting point is 00:39:46 It could be for any title. It just feels weird that you win this match and you got a trophy and then that's it. And I've talked with people. like Baron Corbyn about, it's a cool honor to be thought of as the guide to win that match. But then what? What do you do with it from there?
Starting point is 00:40:05 You can't carry around this life-sized trophy all the time either. It's not like when you win King of the Ring and it becomes part of your gimmick. It's not like when you win money in the bank and you have the briefcase and everyone knows, oh yeah, that's the person that won the latter match. And at some point, they're going to cash this in and get a title shot.
Starting point is 00:40:22 I'm with you. It's a great way to get. a whole bunch of people on the WrestleMania card. And I love that. There's only so many spots on any PLE and those are special. And it's extra special for WrestleMania. So I get why they do
Starting point is 00:40:37 this. It's a chance for 25 extra people to be able to go, I worked on WrestleMania. Sure, it was in a battle royal, but I got to be at WrestleMania. So I would love to see the Andre the Giant battle royal return. It needs
Starting point is 00:40:53 to mean something. In the same way that last year at SummerSlam, we had the Slim Jim Battle Royal, which again was just like, here's a chance to get a bunch of faces on the card, which I love. I've got nothing but respect for the men and women who do this for a living. And I love the opportunity for them to be on a card, even in the smallest, possibly, like the smallest way that they could possibly be appearing on there. But yeah, it's got to mean something. Maybe it's a title shot. Maybe it's a, title shop for the Intercontinental Championship or the U.S. Championship. It just needs to mean something more than, hey, great job.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Here's a trophy. Brian McLean emailed this one. Hey, Chris, love the show. I've recently become a postman and listening to the show while I'm at work or out walking the dog, easily the best podcast about wrestling. And I doubt it'll be long before you overtake six feet under. Well, that is very nice of you. Thank you. That is a bold prediction that I don't know will come true. He is the Undertaker.
Starting point is 00:42:01 My question for you is with the WWE moving to Netflix, do you believe that it will just be upcoming episodes that will be available? Or do you believe that all of the archives will transfer over in the deal? For example, will we lose WCW Nitro episodes or do you believe everything currently on the WWE network will readily be available on Netflix? Thank you, Brian. I am not the right person to ask about this, but I believe, Brian, that this deal is just for the episodes that start airing in January of 2025 and beyond. So all of the archives up to now will either be on Peacock or the WWE Network, depending on what part of the world you live in and which one you have access to. I think that the back episodes, you know, as we get into 2025, everything dating back to January of 2025 will be available on Netflix. This raises a good question, though. Will they also then be available on the network or on Peacock?
Starting point is 00:43:04 I don't know. And if that's the case, does that mean you're going to have to have both subscriptions to get them? I mean, you're probably, you're going to have both subscriptions anyway if you choose to be watching Raw live on Netflix. But I think it's like I think WCW Nitro, which is one of the things you talked about here. I don't think that's part of the deal at all. What's interesting about Raw going to Netflix is Netflix is very clearly putting a lot of time and a lot of resources into live programming. You see that with the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight, which has now been rescheduled for November. You saw this with the live roast of Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:43:45 there's the hot dog eating contest. Did you see this? This was just announced with Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi. I've got to look this up. Hot dog contest Netflix. It is a Labor Day hot dog eating contest with the goats, Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi. Live on Netflix. They're putting so much time, so much money into live program. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. We're seeing this now in 2024, but if we look ahead a few years, there's going to be a lot more live programming, not just on Netflix. But I think we're going to see a lot more live programming on a lot of streamers. This is them kind of dipping their tone of the water and going, we can get people watching our platform live. Like, I don't know what the numbers are because Netflix doesn't release the numbers, but the amount of people that were watching the Tom Brady roast like,
Starting point is 00:44:45 that were on Netflix watching that show probably broke some sort of a Netflix record. I'm sure we'll see the same thing again when Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have their boxing match, which I really hope that does happen. And I'm wishing Mike Tyson a speedy recovery in. Hope that he's all good to go in November. Tyler 2 on Spotify. Thank you for leaving this question in the Q&A section down there on Spotify. What did you think of this episode?
Starting point is 00:45:13 Hi, CVV, what's your earliest or first quote that you remember that you still think about till, that you still think about today? Love the podcast. You know me. I love quotes. That's why I end every podcast with the quote. There's one that I go back to that was actually on my MySpace for a long time. So that's how far back we're going here.
Starting point is 00:45:36 It was like in the about section and like of your bio. I had this quote from J.M. Power. if you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up. And that meant a lot to me then when I type that out and put it in my bio, put it in my about section on MySpace. It means a lot to me now. Like, for me, the interpretation is if you want to make those dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up. And it's not just like literally waking up. It's you have to start to take action. You have to like put one foot in front of the other.
Starting point is 00:46:12 These dreams aren't just going to fall into your lap and ta-da, here you go. It happened. It's going to take some work. And I actually have a quote at the end of this episode that ties kind of back into this quote. But that's one that I loved then and I still love now. Mike left this one on Spotify. CVV, you've got excellent taste in music. What's your favorite Blink 182 album?
Starting point is 00:46:39 On the last AskCVV episode, someone said, man, who are some of your favorite pop punk bands? I heard you mention you like pop punk. And I listed off a dozen off the top of my head that I love. And, man, I love a lot of pop punk music, but it was fun to just kind of rhyme off a whole bunch there. Blink 182 being, you know, one of the first ones that I listed off there. My favorite blink album. Some of the other artists that I list, Blink.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Newfound Glory, some 41, Story of the Year, Yellow Card Starting, line. Senses fail, Hawthorne Heights, Motion City soundtrack, dashboard, dangerous summer, the ready set. Oh, there's a lot. My favorite blink album is take off your pants and jacket. Not only because it's such a brilliant title with the double meaning, like if you say it fast, it obviously sounds like something else, but it's take off with the claim, your pants with some pants, and jacket. And then there's a picture of a jacket. I just feel like they really came into their own with that one.
Starting point is 00:47:52 That was just, yeah, that was one of my favorite albums. I remember going to Walmart. It was right before I graduated from high school, June of 2001. I remember going to Walmart and grabbing that album, putting into my car, like the second I got to the parking lot. And Anthem Part 2 kicks it off. just like, oh my gosh, like boom, what a great song to just kick things off with. So that's my favorite album.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Enemy of the State would be a close second. But when you look at the track listing of take off your pants and jacket and you've got songs like rock show and stay together for the kids and first date, every time I look for you, the sun goes down. For any Blink song, that's going to be stuck. in your head now. I probably didn't. That was Mark.
Starting point is 00:48:45 I feel like we all do a good Tom, right? Where are you? And I'm so sorry. I cannot sleep. All right. That's enough. That is enough of that. A List Alverson left this one on Facebook.
Starting point is 00:49:01 What's your favorite wrestling book? I don't think there's a better wrestling book than Mick Foley's have a nice day. It's so well written. It tells such great. stories and the fact that he wrote this himself without help from a ghost writer or with help from a co-writer. I mean, it just shows you just how talented McFoli is at everything that he does. You're going to be hard pressed to find a better book than that one. I do remember reading
Starting point is 00:49:28 Brock Lezzer's Death Clutch and just it was just, I was captivated by it. It was, it read, like I remember reading it like one sitting. It was just so good. And yeah, that was, that was another one. Didn't Paul Heyman write that book with him? I believe so, right? Paul Hey, Paul Heyman wrote that book or yeah, he, I'm sure Paul Heyman, it says with Paul him when you look at the cover. I'm sure Paul Heyman had a lot of say in that book. That one was just such a, I felt like I was there. It was, it felt like it was there. And as a, and there's obviously a lot more to Brock's story than what's being told there. Like he could write another book now with everything in his career that's happened since that book came out to now. What year did that book
Starting point is 00:50:15 come out? That book came out in, and we've got all the world's answers here in front of us. So let's quickly, it came out in 2012. So he's had a heck of a career. He had a heck of a career up to that point. He's had an amazing career in the last, in the time. since. So many things have happened since. We would get a whole story about the streak and breaking the streak at WrestleMania 30s. So those are my two wrestling books for sure. B-Novis on Instagram asks, do you think WWE should add another title? Maybe the light heavyweight or TV titles. I definitely think there's another title missing because if unless you're tag team's, well, I mean, if you're tag team wrestler, you basically got the one choice of being a tag team, but you got the world
Starting point is 00:51:11 title, you got the WWE title, U.S. title, and Intercontinental Championship. There needs to be something else in there, whether it's a cruiserweight or a light heavyweight or I love the silliness that surrounded the hardcore title and the 24-7 championship. And there definitely needs to be a secondary title for the women's division. There just, there needs to be something else going on there. So yes, I don't know if it's bringing back a title or I don't know if it's creating a whole new one, but absolutely. There needs to be another title. Otherwise, there's just such a small handful of people that can be in that title picture. Bring back the European championship. That is a, that's a sneaky good championship. There were so many great
Starting point is 00:52:01 storylines around that. Bring back the European championship, especially with the time that we're in right now where WWE is such a global product. I mean, heck, Clash of the Castle is happening tomorrow. It just feels like, yes, yes, bring back some sort of other title. I would love to see that. Jack Clegg-Klegmicker. When wrestlers have belts on their walls or cabinets, are they replicas that they have bought. Ooh, I wonder if I'm supposed to, I'm sure people know this. So when you win a championship in WW, they give you the option to buy the replica. When you win a championship in AEW, they send you the replica. So when you're seeing the belts, yes, they are replicas and depending on where they won them, they have either been gifted to them
Starting point is 00:53:01 or they have been purchased by them. But I am, except for very, very rare situations, very special situations, you're not seeing the original belt. You're seeing a replica for sure. But I thought that was interesting. I was chatting with someone recently and they were like, oh yeah, when I won this title in AEW, a week later, showed up here.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Samtastic 029. on Instagram says a friend and I have recently started a wrestling podcast. What's the best way to help our show grow? Well, Samtastic 029, congratulations on actually starting your show. There are so many people that talk about it and they think about a logo and they think about a name of the show and they think too much about what Mike am I going to record into and what's the whole process of this and they don't actually get around to doing it. So the fact that you're doing it, you're way ahead of everybody else who's just thought about it and never actually pulled the trigger. So congrats. This is going to sound like such a simple answer, but the best way to grow your show is consistency
Starting point is 00:54:16 and is to continue to just keep showing up. And I think that that needs to be fueled by passion. If you're not enjoying doing it, don't keep showing up. I mean, don't put yourself through that if you don't enjoy the process of everything that goes into a podcast. And if it's an interview podcast, I'm just speaking from experience here, that means you're booking the guests and you're researching them and then you're actually doing the interview and then you're editing and producing the interview and then you're putting out the podcast and then you're promoting it, like publishing it. There's a lot of steps that go into it. But really at the end of the day, it's consistency. The podcast that are always at the top of the charts are the ones that have been around for a while and they've had the
Starting point is 00:55:05 time to build up an audience and also they've you know that they show up you know that they show up you know for example with insight it's every monday thursday and friday and if you as a host continue to keep showing up then your audience will also keep showing up as well but the bottom line is have fun with it like at no point should this ever feel like it's a like something you don't want to do. At no point should you ever go, oh, I have to record an episode because I put out episodes every Friday. If you get to that point, it's not worth doing.
Starting point is 00:55:41 Like, this should never be a burden. It should always be something that lifts you up. It should be one of the best parts of your day or your week. So, congrats and keep it going. Alex Torleiman. Alex Torleiman on Instagram says, do you know if Michael Cole is aware of the huge praise that you give him any chance to be on the show? I don't know if Michael Cole personally knows that I'm a fan of him and love his work.
Starting point is 00:56:08 I'm sure he's well aware of the praise that he's getting at the stage of his career from fans all around the world. And that is well-deserved praise. Give Michael Cole all the flowers. He's doing the best work of his career right now. And he's been in WWE now since the 90s. it's about time people start appreciating how good he is i mean he's yeah he's great now and i love the fun he's having especially with pat mackafy but if you go back and listen to his stuff in like the early or late 90s and early 2000s he's just as good then he's just as good then but jr was also
Starting point is 00:56:47 working at that time so there was the comparison of like well there's the hall of famer there's jr is the voice of a lot of people's childhood there was the constant comparison of Well, he's not as good as JR, even though they're two completely different types of announcers. I would love to have him on the show. He's definitely on the list of a dream guest for me. Let's see if we can make that happen at some point. We've made a lot of other ones happen this year that I thought maybe weren't possible. So let's add Michael, well, we're not adding him to the list.
Starting point is 00:57:19 We're publicly saying we'd like to have that happen. He's so good. He is, yeah, he's tremendous of what he does. It's a pleasure to be able to listen to him. And then I love the little Cole cam that I've been calling it, the Cole Cam. I love the little whatever is, GoPro or the wide angle camera that they have on the announced table. And you're watching Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. It's just passion just overflowing with every call that they're making.
Starting point is 00:57:48 And it's like, yes, that's so good. Zay plays 2K. That rhymes. Zay plays 2K. on Instagram. What's the best part of being a father? Happy early Father's Day, by the way. This is my second Father's Day. Last year, Logan was two weeks old when Father's Day rolled around. So I got my first taste of Father's Day last year. Now she's a little bit older and just celebrated her first birthday on May 29th. The best part of being a father is they're like I just woke her up.
Starting point is 00:58:27 from a nap before I started recording here. And she just has a huge smile. She just started getting teeth. She has three teeth right now, one on the top and two on the bottom. And she just has this big, goofy smile, this excitement. It's almost like when you come home and your dog's like, oh my gosh, you're home. Oh, you're the best. I missed you.
Starting point is 00:58:45 Don't ever leave. You're the best. Like, you know, that whole like golden retriever life of like, they're just so excited. It's not just golden retrievers. They're the stereotype for that, I guess. but there's just there's something about seeing that smile as soon as they wake up but the biggest thing is the curiosity that she sees the world through like through her eyes the curiosity that she has and i've i've learned a lot from that i feel like we all kind of get a little bit jaded to some of the
Starting point is 00:59:19 like miracles that happen around us every single day and we just kind of to write it off as like, yeah, big deal. But then you, she's literally seeing things for the first time. Like, and it's cool because I now have started to look at things in a completely different way. That's been the best part of being a father so far. She's not at the point where she's really speaking. I mean, she makes noises. She says, mama and dadda and duh, like a lot of noises. and she's trying to form sentences. I'm sure my answer to this will change probably every Father's Day. But for now, that's it.
Starting point is 01:00:00 Like, that's been just a big life lesson for me. And we are on to the final question of Ask CVV, the Frank Thomas edition. Thank you again for all of the questions. Thank you for being here and for listening all the way until the end. I know you are a real one because you're listening to a to Ask CVV episode. And I know you're really a real one because here you are an hour-ish into this episode and you're still here. So thank you. If you have a question for AskCV number 36, whatever edition we are going to make that one, send it in using the hashtag AskCVV on
Starting point is 01:00:39 Instagram or Facebook or X or email it over. CVV at chrisfanfleet.com. that guy, Dan 9176, says, what keeps you motivated to do what you do? That's on Instagram, by the way. What keeps you motivated to do what you do? I just feel really, really lucky to be able to do something that I love. And that was the goal for me when I was in college. I never wanted to be someone who couldn't appreciate Sunday because you knew you had to wake up and go to work on Monday to a job that you just didn't like. And what motivates me is that I've been really fortunate my entire career. I've worked really hard, too, and lived in a lot of different places as I followed my career path and followed the jobs.
Starting point is 01:01:30 Peterborough, Ontario, to Vancouver, to Toronto, to Cleveland, to Miami, bought a house in Fort Lauderdale, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and now we live in Orange County. that's all in the last how many years is that that's been the last 18 years I've lived in all those different places the thing that case me motivated is also that little girl and if you didn't see on social media we've got another one on the way so we're going to have two we've got a little baby boy joining us the due day right now is December 11th and I just can can't wait.
