Yes, welcome back to another one here on Insight.
I'm CVV, Chris Van Fleet.
Happy Friday, my friends.
What kind of plans you have for the weekend?
Anything big going on this weekend?
I am flying to Minneapolis tomorrow doing some interviews
with some people who may live in and around that area.
And it just so happens that Raw is in Minneapolis on Monday night
at the Excel Energy Center.
So if you happen to live in Minnesota, if you're going to Raw, I can't wait to see you there.
Of course, next weekend, I will see you guys in Cleveland for SummerSlam, and I'll see you
at the West Sixth Street tailgate party beforehand, which is featuring all kinds of entertainment,
all kinds of great wrestling from AIW wrestling.
My good buddy, Steve Guy, is going to be out there doing the ring announcing and entertaining you.
Grab your tickets for that at W6tailgate.com.
W6tailgate.com.
I can't wait to see you there. West 6th Street is always popping as the tailgate spot before any Browns games.
It's going to be the same area. So if you're not familiar with Cleveland, this is so close to the stadium.
Like, I don't know, five-minute walk from the stadium. So West 6th Street, the afternoon before SummerSlam.
I can't wait to see you guys there. Welcome to Ask CVV number 41. Oh yes, the Dirk Nowitzky Edition.
And I'm just so happy to say that comments are back on Spotify.
It's great seeing all these comments on all of these episodes, not just the Ask CVV episodes,
but all of the episodes on there.
So if you have a few words you want to add about this one or any of the interviews that
we've done recently, go in there, leave a few words, and we'll just be cool to be able
to interact with you.
And that's also probably the best way right now to leave a question for these Ask CVV episodes
because, I don't know.
feel like I'm in there. You have to approve the comments for some reason. Hopefully that gets fixed
someday soon, but I'm in there. I'm reading them all. So leave your questions or just comments on Spotify.
Be so cool to see those. And since we did the mustard or ketchup thing last week, we did the pizza,
favorite pizza topping the week before that, how about we throw this back to an interview I did with
Delo Brown like five years ago? We ended this with beaches or mountains. DeLo was like, what do you,
would he prefer beaches or mountains?
So what do you tell me?
Beaches, the beach or mountains?
Drop it in the comments and let me know.
And also go check out that interview with DeLo.
It's from 2019.
It's a shorter one.
And I feel like Deelow needs to come back on the show soon.
He was on like two years ago.
And man, Deelow has some great stories.
And he said it.
He is the Forrest Gump of pro wrestling.
Think about like anybody from that era.
And he's worked with.
with them and he has a story about them. It's truly cool. Also, I got tagged in a lot of my
sacrifice videos this week after mentioning it on last week's Ask CVV episode, which is so cool.
It was a question about like, when was the last time you got emotional about a wrestling match?
And I talked about that wrestling match that really made me emotional, especially since I was there
alive, 2019, double or nothing. Cody versus Dustin, my goodness, that match just gets you in the
feels, but I said there was something about the My Sacrifice videos and the way that
WWE edited them. And I got tagged in so many of those. So I love that we were sharing that
nostalgic moment together. Like that was taking us back, man, 23, 24 years ago. Because
those were like 2000, 2001, 2002 right around there. And a lot of you reached out to say,
CVV. What about the Kid Rock Lonely Road of Faith video? It's like, oh, yeah, that's another good one.
That's another one that boom, just hits you right in the feels. So now feel free to go watch the
Kid Rock Lonely Road of Faith video and shoot that over to me or tag me in that. And then I know we're
on the same wavelength again on this one. Thank you for all of the questions that we got for this one.
I can't wait to get to all of these.
Also can't wait next week for Ask CVV number 42 to go over all of the SummerSlam
predictions and the betting odds associated with that from my bookie.
But let's dive into this.
Of course, if you want to send in a question for next week, use the hashtag Ask CVV on social media
or send me an email, CVV at chris fanfleet.com.
Or, like I mentioned, leave a comment there on Spotify for all of our Spotify listeners.
and it's just crazy seeing the growth across all the platforms,
but especially on Spotify.
We are the number four sports podcast on Spotify.
Not just wrestling, all sports.
And somehow, for a day or two,
we were above the Kelsey Brothers on that same chart.
This is wild to me,
but this can't happen without you.
So thank you for always being with us.
And thank you for sharing the show.
and leaving a rating or a review or following the show,
all of that helps so, so, so much,
which is why I bring it up in every episode.
So I appreciate you.
Thank you for all of that.
Let's get started here with a tweet question from Brian MNYY.
Do you think Jay Uso will ever win a singles title?
Which one?
Well, I think the answer is yes.
Of course Jay Uso is going to win a singles title.
They're not calling a main event, Jay Uso, because he's just a guy who goes into main events,
and that's it.
He will be a singles champion for sure at some point in time.
I mean, is a 10-time tag team champion as we sit here right now.
But this feels to me kind of like the Hardy Boys situation where you've got, they're great
together as a tag team.
And obviously, just like the Hardy Boys, these are actually brothers who grew up together,
know each other better than anybody else.
but then if you divide them up, you've got two great singles competitors as well.
Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Jimmy Usso, Jay Uso.
I think that when you look at Jay, he feels like someone who could easily slide into that
world championship picture.
I think you could give him a World Heavyweight Championship title shot and a run,
and it totally adds up, totally makes sense.
If I had to guess, it's either the World Heavyweight Championship,
that's the singles title he wins first,
or I would also say maybe the Intercontinental Championship.
I still think on a slight tangent here, there is still room for another singles championship to be inserted in here.
It just doesn't feel like, I mean, you've got the Cody title, the WWE championship.
You've got the Damien Priest title, the World Heavyweight Championship.
Then you've got the U.S. and the Intercontinental, and that's it.
I feel like there's room here for a cruiserweight or a European title or something else there.
because it just feels like
they just you need something else here.
But Jay Uso to me is a world champion
at some point in the next year to three years.
Intercontinental champion as well.
Very curious how that whole situation
ends up shaking out with Sammy Zane.
It still feels to me like that title should belong
to Chad Gable at some point in the next few months.
But I guess we'll see how that one goes.
Yeah, Jay Uso, of course he's going to be a singles champion.
There's no question about that.
This one's from Caleb Powell on Spotify, who starts it off with ketchup.
So thank you for telling me on Spotify comments if you prefer ketchup or mustard.
On a recent episode of AskCTVV, you talked about how Lexus King and Brombreaker don't have
their family last names and you felt like they should have them.
And I still do feel that same way.
It blows my mind that there's still some fans out there that,
don't know that Brom Breaker is a Steiner. They don't know. The whole legacy there attached to him
because he doesn't have the same last name. Crazy. This is Rick Steiner's son. This is Scott Steiner's nephew.
It's wild. Wild to me. Anyway, back to your question here, Caleb. So how do you feel in regards to
Solo Sookoa and the Uso's being known on-screen as brothers, but not having the same last name?
That one also doesn't make a lot of sense to me. And I would bet you that if,
If you were to go to Raw or Smackdown and you were to just randomly ask a bunch of people,
I bet there's some people who aren't hardcore fans that don't know that the Uso's and Solo are brothers.
They probably don't even know that Rikishi is the father of all three of them.
So I just still don't understand it.
I get the logic behind it.
The way it's been explained to me is if you're a Guerrero like Chal Guerrero or if you're a Johnson like Ava Rain.
or if you're a Pilman like Lexus King,
or if you're a Steiner, like Bronbreaker,
you've got very, very big shoes to fill.
And attaching that legendary Hall of Fame last name to you
means you now have to live up to the legacy
of whoever it was that came before you,
whether that's your father or your uncle or whoever.
I understand that.
But at the same time, having that last name attached to you
says something about you.
And it tells the audience a story
without you ever having to say one word or wrestle one second in a match.
So that's still a thing that I don't quite understand.
And maybe in the new Triple H regime, that will change.
I feel like Bronbroker's probably gone too far in his career and accomplished too much already for them to switch his name up.
But it seems, it feels to me like this is something that should continue to be talked about with new second and third.
and possibly even fourth generation wrestlers that are going to be coming in here.
Yeah, I think that it continues to tell the story better if this was solo Uso or if this was,
I mean, you can't go backwards and give Jimmy and Jay the Sacoa last name.
But yeah, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
And then their dad's Rikishi Fatu, and well, that doesn't add up.
And look, at the end of the day, this is wrestling for you.
But I still think that calling him Brian Pilman Jr.,
which is his legal name, goes a lot further than just creating a name. And I get that there's a lot of
parts of Lexus King that Brian specifically picked out and it has a lot of meaning to it. But I just feel
like calling him Brian Pilman Jr. I think it be whatever character he wants. He doesn't have to be
the loose canon Jr. But it just tells more of a story. You're going to have a hard time
changing my mind on that one. But I agree with you.
with the Uso's and Solo Sokoa,
now one just doesn't make a lot of sense.
To me, really at all.
Oh my gosh, when I screenshot at this,
I didn't keep your name in here.
I'm going to have to go back and fix this.
Actually, I'm going to pause it right now
so we can fix it.
Bailey Tyson underscore on Instagram.
There we go.
I found it there.
Hey, CVV, a question for AskCV number 41.
Much like your good self,
my favorite wrestler of all time is Triple H.
What is your favorite Triple H match?
Sending love to you and your family from Tasmania, Australia.
Well, Triple H was my guy growing.
I was Triple H in Rock,
but I had a Triple H poster on the back of my door in high school.
It's like the menacing photo where like it's like right when he turned into like the game.
So we're talking like 2000-ish.
So Triple H very, very heavily inspired by him.
Also, of course, very heavily inspired by the rock and just his charisma and personality and
everything that he did there. My favorite triple H match of all time is triple H versus Cactus Jack,
the street fight, Royal Rumble 2000. That's my favorite McFoley match too. There's just the storytelling
in that match was just next level. And I think that people always go back to the end of that
match. And that's obviously a very memorable moment. The pedigree right under the thumbtacks.
And my goodness, Mick Foley just dies like face first into it, like doesn't protect himself at all.
It's just a wild image to see and then Triple H rolls him over for the pin and Foley has a thumbtack like almost in his eye.
Crazy. Crazy.
But I feel like people don't talk enough about the barbed wire stuff they did in this match.
It wasn't like one or two spots.
There was a bunch of spots in that match.
Also the swinging neckbreaker that Mick Foley did to Triple H on the outside was so, so clean.
Oh my goodness.
So clean.
So that match, it's so good.
And that pay-per-view was really great, too.
Royal Rumble 2000 was also the tables match with the Dudleys and the Hardys.
I had the Royal Rumble 2000 VHS, and I just about wore that thing out.
I watched it a lot.
So, yeah, I mean, there's been a lot of great Triple H matches.
Of course, you can also talk about the Triple H and Undertaker matches at WrestleMania.
There's three of them.
and I think all three of them were amazing,
but there's just something about that
Triple H versus Cactus Jack Street fight.
I could watch that.
I mean, I already have watched that
quite literally hundreds of times,
but I could watch that over and over and over again
and just never, ever get tired of it at all.
Greg Weber 17 on Instagram says,
I love you CVV, but why do you post so much?
There was a cool video from your interview
with The Undertaker that I wanted to share with my buddy
and I had to scroll back like a hundred posts on Instagram to find it.
And it was only from last month.
Well, Greg, I'm going to say thank you very much for the compliment here.
A compliment to both the interviews that we've been doing recently
and also to everybody that's part of Team CVV for finding such great clips
and editing them in such entertaining ways.
And I mean, just turning that Undertaker interviewed into something like 40 clips
or 45 clips or something like that.
it all comes down to this.
I understand that if someone sends you a link to a podcast and says,
oh, man, this interview is amazing.
And you look at it and the runtime's like an hour and 14 minutes.
Chances are you're likely not even going to click on it.
You're going to go an hour and 14 minutes.
I'm in the middle of something right now.
I'm not going to listen to this.
And you're going to forget and you're never going to end up putting it on.
Or you're going to go, yeah, I'll start it.
And then you start it and you never end up finishing it.
But if someone sends you a 34 second clip that is straight and direct and to the point from that same interview,
oh man, chances are you're probably going to watch 100% of that video.
You're going to watch all 34 seconds of it.
And that's kind of the mentality that we've taken with all of these episodes.
And look, I look at the numbers.
I see how many people listen to the podcast all the way through.
I look at how many people watch an interview all the way until the very end on YouTube.
And then I look at the numbers on the CVV clips channel and they're massive.
Like the CVV clips channel where we just post shorts and then like two to five to six
minute clips from all these interviews.
It has over a billion views.
It's over a billion views.
And then the main channel where the full interviews are, it has, you know, I'm certainly
not complaining.
It has like 170 million views.
But that channel's almost 10 years older than the clips channel.
and the clips channel has over a billion views.
So the idea here is to try to get these interviews
and these clips and these moments
in front of as many people as possible.
So the idea there is creating these vertical videos
on Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube shorts,
Twitter as well,
and just trying to get them out to someone
who may not even know about the podcast.
That's the majority of wrestling.
fans and I get that. So here's a little taste test. Here's a little teaser of this interview with
Cody Rhodes. Here's a great story from Booker T. Here's something really funny from The Undertaker.
And I like to think of shorts slash real slash TikToks as breadcrumbs. Stop me if you've heard this
before. Those are breadcrumbs. And if you like the little breadcrumbs, maybe you want a little
more of a taste. And then you go and you find the clips, two to five minute clips on the CVV clips
channel. Oh man, that's a nice little slice of bread. You know, you went from the bread crumb
to the slice of bread. Well, if you really like that slice of bread, hopefully you go looking
for that full loaf. And that's the full episode either here on the podcast or on the YouTube
channel. That is the whole idea behind the content that we put out. And I'm actually very very
very grateful for this comment. Yeah, it was about a month ago when I was posting stuff from the
Undertaker interview and you got to scroll back quite a ways to find it. And that just means that
you know, by the time you hear this this weekend, you're going to have to scroll back even
further because we're going to continue to post more clips from the interview with Scorpio Sky this week
or from the interview with DiJack earlier this week,
or Raj Desi, aka Jinder Mahal last week.
Of course, we've still got some more Cody Rhodes clips to put out there.
I love it.
And a big thank you to all of you guys who share those posts
on whatever social media platform it is that you spend the most time on.
But thank you.
It's been amazing.
And just know that if there's ever a time when you can't listen
a full episode, or maybe you're not that interested in the guest. Just know that there will always
be a ton of clips that you'll be able to check out from those. Roger Padactor 696 on Instagram.
Wow. That is an Ace Ventura reference. That's why Roger Podactor is dead. He found Captain Winky.
Ace Ventura, that detective. Man, I love that movie. There's so much of that that I could recite.
I've watched that movie far too many times.
Sounds broken.
Most likely, sir, but I'm sure it was something nice.
Roger Prodactor 696 on Instagram says,
Hey, CVV, do you think Sid Vicious will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame?
I saw his tweet earlier this week about Vince being gone and maybe it's possible now.
Also, who else do you think is a glaring omission from the Hall of Fame?
So if you missed it earlier this week,
at the psycho Sid tweeted with Vince McMahon gone,
perhaps there's a slight chance that WWE will induct me into the Hall of Fame one day.
Who knows?
Nonetheless,
happy Wednesday to all of my wonderful fans.
So if you don't know the full story,
in a nutshell here,
Vince McMahon and Sid,
they don't exactly see I'd die.
And there's no question that Sid Vicious is a Hall of Famer.
former four-time world champion, main evented two
wrestlmanias, one against Hulk Hogan, one against the Undertaker.
His resume speaks for itself.
Now that Vince is gone, that's certainly one that should be in.
Sid Vicious should be in.
If it's not 2025, I don't see why it wouldn't be 2026.
So absolutely.
And it's so, so sad that when you look at everything that Sid Vicious has done
over his entire career, people only seem to go back to that viral video in WCW of his leg
breaking. And I get it. You know, it's absolutely disgusting. It's an incredibly painful moment for
him, I'm sure, and for anybody that's watching that, it's just crazy that there's an entire
generation of wrestling fans that aren't familiar with his work, but have just seen that one quick
clip. To answer your other question, there's quite a few glaring omissions. There's quite a few people
that would slide right into the next WWE Hall of Fame class, and you'd go, yeah, of course,
I didn't.
I can't believe they aren't in already.
The obvious one that's, of course, very unlikely to happen is Owen Hart.
But then when you look at the rest of the list, I mean, how is demolition not in there?
Miss Elizabeth, Jim Cornett and the Midnight Express, Sable.
Also, when are things going to get finalized with Dave Batista?
He was, they said he was going to be in the Hall of Fame, and then it didn't end up.
up happening with everything that was going on at that time. I get that of some of the names that I
listed, there are some personal issues with some of these people. They may not be on the best terms
with WWE. But I mean, come on. Come on. Those are, you can't argue against any of those. Demolition,
Dave Batista, Miss Elizabeth, Jim Cornett and the Midnight Express and say, well, you can't argue against
any of those. And of course, under, sorry, Owen Hart, that's a completely other story, which I
totally get. I totally get. But yeah, I think that Sid Vicious, yeah, that's got to be one that we see soon for sure.

Scott, Christopher Nash on Facebook says,
Hey, Chris, been listening to the podcast for over a year and I'm a huge fan of it.
Well, thank you, Scott.
And I love your middle name, Christopher.
I've never met a Chris that I don't like.
my question to you is do you think we'll see the Hardy Boys get inducted another
WWE Hall of Fame in 2025?
Keep up the good work and being a positive influence in the world.
Well, thank you for the kind words, Scott, and thank you for the question.
I actually think that 2025 is too soon for the Hardy Boys to be inducted because I still
think that they're going to be active wrestlers through the rest of this year and into next year.
Of course, they are Hall of Famers.
That is not up for debate at all.
Of course they're going to be in the Hall of Fame.
It's just a matter of when.
And I think that the answer to that question is when their careers are done.
And I just get the feeling that it's not yet.
I also am still hanging on to the hope that they're going to be in WWE for at least one last run.
Even if it's just a short run where they're making guys in NXT look amazing.
I mean, how cool would that to be?
How cool would that be?
You're in NXT.
You're a 20-something-year-old wrestler, a few years into the business.
and you're wrestling with idols, icons, like the Hardy Boys.
I feel like it's going to happen.
WW with everything that they've done in their careers,
TNA and A.W and everything on the Indies,
WWE is still their home.
I think it's just a matter of time for the Hardy Boys,
go back to WWE for one last hurrah,
one last, kind of like nostalgic pop of like greatest hits.
You know, give me a few swan,
wantons. Give me a few twist of fates. Give me a
eight to 12
to 18 month run of just like,
here's the hardy boys, just making
young tag teams look great.
So I don't think it's 20, 25.
I think it's maybe it's 2026,
2027,
but yeah, I mean,
that one's going to happen for sure.
I just don't think it's going to happen
nine months from now.
That's just, I can't see them being done with wrestling
nine months from now. That's just not going to happen.
Thomas Brooks on Twitter says,
WWE is going to Netflix.
Will being uncut, elevate the product?
Is cussing and nudity
going to be the new pop for wrestling?
Well, I don't think we're going to be seeing nudity.
I don't think we're going to be seeing.
I don't think that's going to be happening,
whether it's on Netflix or showtime or anywhere else.
I don't think nudity is going to happen.
Cussing, I feel like kind of already is a pop in wrestling.
I mean, think about things like
Cody's saying the rock had LDE,
little Dick energy, big pop,
because it's one of those moments
where you're like,
whoa, did he just say that?
The rock just dropping the F bomb at will.
Crazy.
How about 2019?
This was a big one.
I don't know why more people
don't talk about this.
When Braun Strowman plowed Bobby Lashley
through the Ross set
and the LEDs exploded
and Corey Graves on commentary goes,
holy shit. That was a big moment because it felt real. It felt authentic. I would imagine that if you're
going to be saying something like that into a hot mic on live television, this has to go through some
sort of approvals. I don't think that he just said that for the sake of saying that.
Corey Graves is a consummate professional. I don't think he's just going to be throwing curse words
out all willy-nilly and risking getting a fine from the FTC. I feel like that was something that was
either approved or perhaps even written in. Vince was still in charge at that time. Maybe Vince was the one
was like, hey, say this. Maybe Vince is saying, yeah, yeah, yeah, holy shit. Yeah, yeah, you should say that.
I don't know. But what I'm saying is when that moment happened, it made people go, oh, wow, maybe this wasn't
supposed to happen. Maybe Bronz Strowman and Bobby Lashley legitimately broke that set and it wasn't planned.
And I feel like that throws into, that throws all kinds of questions into it and makes it feel real.
And wrestling is at its very best when it blurs those lines.
Man, is that real?
Oh, man.
Is that fake?
Is that in character?
I don't know.
Man, did he really say that thing about that guy's wife or kid or Christian Cage?
Dead father?
That's when wrestling is at its best.
So I don't think that we're just going to be seeing, you know, I've seen the meme.
I've seen the meme on TikTok, like when Raw goes to Netflix, it's not going to be Seth Freakin Rollins anymore.
It's going to be Seth F-word Rollins.
I don't think that's going to be the case.
You're not going to be seeing commentators swearing.
You're not going to be seeing every promo with swear words in it.
Where I do think Raw moving to Netflix is really going to change and really going to succeed here is it'll allow the show to be more loose.
and I don't mean with scripts or storylines.
I mean with timing.
Right now, the way that a show is timed for broadcast is going to be very different
from how a show is timed on streaming.
And what I mean by that is right now you need to take a certain amount of breaks at a very
specific time throughout the show and those breaks need to last for a certain length of time.
Well, when you're streaming on Netflix and you don't have those same restrictions
that you would have on terrestrial television, you don't need to work.
about that. If you were supposed to take a break on the USA network at the 14 minute mark,
well, you can just keep going here. Like, if the segment's great, just keep going. I also think
that if Raw is, right now there's a little bit of overrun, you can make Raw as long or as short as
you like now. Because again, there's no restrictions here. If Raw happens to clock in at
256 one week, and the next week it's 321, it's okay. And I think that that that's,
That's where Netflix is really going to change the game here for Raw and change the game
just for anybody who's thinking about taking live programming and putting it on a streamer.
I've said it so many times before, but all the TV networks, all the big media buyers,
everybody is going to have all eyes on Raw in January 2025 on Netflix.
Because this is a weekly television show that's going to streaming.
It's still a weekly show, but it's not a television show anymore.
And that is going to change things in such a big way that we're not going to see this right away.
But the residual effects from this years later, maybe into the late 2020s, five years from now,
maybe into the 2030s, you're going to start to see other shows that are going to have a similar live type of format,
go into a streamer, and they're going to go, oh, man, remember what they did with Monday Night Raw and how that's shifted?
it's going to be very, very interesting.
And I think that people are too focused on just the micro here.
I think they're too focused on like, man, how many more swear words are we going to hear?
How many more sexual references are we going to see?
The macro here is so much bigger as to what this means for just the future of broadcasting.
And WWE is going to be a wonderful guinea pig in this.
Because when you look at the live programming that has existed on net,
up to this point is it's very limited and their one-off shows we're talking about the rosa tom brady
we're talking about jo rogan's live comedy special or we're talking about the jake paul mike
tyson fight which hopefully still is happening in november that's it they haven't done it
where it's every monday 52 weeks a year figuring out the ins in the else well this didn't work
last week let's try something different this week oh my goodness that worked this week how can we
expand on that next week. We're going to see a lot of that. So this isn't Thomas about cussing and nudity
being the only thing. There's going to be a lot of moving parts behind the scenes that we're not
going to see that are going to be absolutely huge for everything here. Oh, and now it's my
favorite part of the show. It's the Ask CVV, Ask RVV segment of the show.
I love that. Yeah, the whole, the whole, yeah.
The whole thing is asked CV.
I love that you guys send in these questions for my lovely and beautiful and glowing wife, Rachel, who is 20 weeks pregnant.
Feels like 20 months.
Dylan.T.93 on Instagram sent this one in and said, hey, RVV, if Chris had his way, would you have a wrestling ring in the backyard?
I don't think Chris would have to fight me very hard on this one when we were pregnant with our
daughter, I actually suggested a wrestling theme gender reveal. That was my idea. And it didn't happen.
So I don't think he'd have to fight me pretty hard for that wrestling ring if he really wanted it.
We did the- You need a little more space in the backyard. Yeah, I don't, we can't fit a wrestling ring in
the backyard. Maybe like in the front yard. We could probably, I mean, the neighbors would be like,
what is going on here. But yeah, we had a very, I mean, was the traditional like, blow off the smoke
cannons? Oh my gosh, they're pink. And then this time we'd be.
did the confetti. Oh my gosh, it's blue, which actually was a real surprise. Very much a surprise. I was
convinced to be pink confetti. And I was like, I know it's a boy. I just felt it. I felt like it was
going to be a boy. Yeah, a wrestling ring would be cool, but I think we should leave that to the
people who actually know how to wrestle. Like, what am I going to do? Go in the backyard and just
bump around, run the ropes for fun. Break a few bones, pull a few muscles. Sounds dangerous.
The people who do have wrestling rings in their backyard, like, you guys may remember the stuff
I did with John Morrison in his backyard.
Like, that makes sense.
At that time, it was John Morrison and Taya living with a bunch of wrestlers.
That would make sense.
I know Jack Perry had a ring in his backyard for a while.
I know David Arquette when he was training had a ring in his backyard.
I was recently with Adam Copeland and Beth Phoenix.
And they talked about having a wrestling ring.
Those all make sense, right?
me I don't know it makes a lot more sense for us to have a studio in the house or a gym can we have a
gym we can have a big gym a gym oh undertaker's gym really got me motivated and inspired his gym was just
so good and Goldberg's gym I feel like I just gave away who my next guest is I wasn't supposed
to do that goldberg I've heard has a great gym where he lives in Texas I've always been curious
I don't know if we've ever got a defined answer on this.
This is my own.
This is CVV asking RVV.
What is your,
what's your favorite movie of all time?
My favorite movie of all time?
Well,
because everybody knows minds back to the future.
And I talk about it all the time and I love how moments matter.
And if this thing in life doesn't happen,
then that thing doesn't happen.
Back to the future.
It's a damn near perfect movie.
I don't know if I could name just one.
I mean,
if we're,
can you narrow down to like action,
comedy?
Sure, just name a few.
Name a few.
I mean, I've seen, you know,
because mostly because if it's on TV,
I just put it on,
the dark night and the dark night rises.
I've seen a hundred times each,
and I love those movies.
I love Bounduck Saints.
Great picks.
Any Will Ferrell movie,
I absolutely adore.
Christmas movies,
love Elf and a Christmas story.
Shoot,
eye out, kid. These are all great choices. Home alone. Oh, my gosh. Yes. Everybody knows how big of a
Christopher Nolan fan I am. So you liking the dark night and the dark night rises.
That's why we're married. Love at first sight. What's the first movie we ever saw together?
I don't think I remember. In a theater? Yeah, I think it was a while before we saw one in a theater.
I think so. And it was, it was one of the nice,
loungy theaters. I just can't remember what movie it was. Me neither. I think it was,
remember we saw Scream together right before I interviewed David Arquette? That was an early one.
Yes. Scream six. Scream six. Geez, am I getting that wrong? Was it Scream six? No, Scream five.
Because Scream six came out in 2023. Scream five, 2022. Yeah, it was a, yeah, I don't know,
I think it's, I don't know, something else.
We'll have to let this one marinate.
I'm not sure.
I love that you're part of these shows.
I love that the people sending questions for you.
I love when there like, there was a question there.
It was like, can Rachel name four wrestling factions?
I'm like, I'm not even going to, I'm even going to serve that one up.
A what?
Exactly.
I'm like, I know the answer.
The answer to that is no.
So, but please keep sending these in.
I think the wrestling questions for RVV are very comical.
But also these other questions, just, you know, I learn things through these questions.
So another successful, ask RVV.
So thank you, honey.
You're welcome.
Love you.
The best.
The best.
The underscore Boy Scout 12 on Twitter says, hey, Chris, are you attending SummerSlam this year?
and hopefully this time you won't miss
CM Funk's return like Survivor Series.
Yeah, that was unfortunate.
I guess nobody knew he was returning
except for like, you know, a few people.
And we were already in the press conference room
when his music hit.
And yeah, I was in the building,
but I didn't see him return.
But yes, of course, I'm going to be at SummerSlam this year.
Can't wait to be back in Cleveland.
My American hometown, love Cleveland so much.
I'll see you guys at the Slammed on Sixth.
tailgate party right before SummerSlam. It's one to seven p.m. Live wrestling food trucks,
beverage bars, live music, all kinds of entertainment there. W6tailgate.com to grab your tickets and
can't wait to see you there. I can't wait to just high five the crap out of all you guys.
I'm going to be flying into Cleveland on Thursday. I'm there till Sunday. So,
hope to see you guys around. I can't wait. Summer Slam's always so fun. Summer Slam being in an open-air
stadium like that, like where it was in Nashville two years ago, there's just something exciting
about it. Fingers crossed, of course, that the weather cooperates. Oh, my goodness. I don't know why
I'm just thinking about that now. Please, please make it a beautiful Cleveland summer night.
Oh my gosh, don't rain. That's me knocking on wood.
James Watt on Facebook.
Just discovered your podcast last week,
and I've instantly become a huge fan.
You bring a positivity,
positivity and enthusiasm to wrestling
that is so often lacking.
My question for you is,
what is the biggest missed opportunity
creatively in wrestling history?
The obvious answer would seem to be
the WCW invasion,
but there were so many hurdles,
namely contracts of the big stars.
That is obviously the big answer.
The invasion angle, when you look at it now, just wasn't done right.
Like, really crazy to think that the biggest stars in WCW at that time weren't even part of it.
Sting didn't show up in WWE until a decade later.
Goldberg wasn't there until a few years later.
It's just too bad that the biggest stars of both companies couldn't face off against each other.
Like, we never got the dream matches that we thought about during the Monday Night Wars.
at that time. So that's the big one for sure. And then he had a real problem back then with a bloated
roster. And I mean, Rob was only two hours at that point in time. So now you've got all this talent and
not enough time for everybody. And then just, yeah, people just end up getting like thrown by the
wayside like Scott Steiner in WCW or in WCW is a totally different person than who he was in WVE.
Buff Bagwell, not even really given a chance in WWE. Like there's just a
there was a lot of that that could have been done better.
I actually think that the whole thing could have been done better if Eric Bischoff had actually
been given the chance to buy WCW.
And he's talked about this quite a bit where he had the funds in line and it was ready
to go and then at the last minute, it pulled out and ended up selling a Vince McMahon.
But it sold for like $5 million, which is crazy to think about 25 years later.
of like $5 million.
That's it for WCW?
When I was talking with Goldberg recently off camera,
he even hinted to the fact of like, man,
if I had known it was only going to sell for $5 million,
I would have bought it.
And I just think that that would have been such a better scenario
to have someone else buy WCW
and continue to run it with just a renewed focus on like
what was important.
You know, what made WCW great during those 83 weeks when they were on top of the Monday Night Wars?
I think it's a, you know, I mean, one of the most iconic moments in wrestling history is Shane McMahon going out there live on Nitro.
Like that was, that was a crazy image to begin with.
A McMahon on Nitro?
Like, that was wild.
And then the simulcast with Raw, the name on the contract says McMahon, but it doesn't say Vince McMahon.
Like, you wouldn't have an iconic moment like that.
Had this been bought by Eric Bischoff or Goldberg or some other sort of third party, I understand that.
And Vince being able to say, like, I bought my competition.
Yeah, it's a, it's a baller move.
But I just think that wrestling really suffered for a while because there was no competition.
Like, after the invasion angle and like everything that happened there, like, wrestling went into a bit of a funk.
I mean, there was still obviously some, a ton of bright spot.
in the ruthless aggression era and the PG era.
But wrestling was, it was, it was definitely on a downward,
it was just trending downward for a little while.
And I think that competition is needed.
And this is what a lot of people have talked about
when it comes to AEW in WW.
Like competition is there.
And we are at where we're at right now with wrestling
because of the fact that Tony Connors,
started AEW in 2019 and allowed people another place to work and also allowed people another place to go,
do I want to stay in the place where I'm working right now? Oh, you're going to offer me that much money to go over there.
Oh, this company is going to match that? Okay, great. It didn't exist before. It was like,
you're either working for WWE or really that's it. Because except for a pretty short period of time in TNA,
you weren't able to make the same amount of money that you were able to make in
WWE. So that's what I would go back and change completely. I would, yeah, that's the,
that's the thing I would change. I think also recency bias may tell you that Drew not winning in
Scotland is one of the biggest missed opportunities creatively in wrestling history. But for that,
I will just say, have a little patience because I feel like the way this is going to play out
with Drew and CM Punk and Seth Rawlins being the special guest referee at SummerSlam,
it's going to be a beautiful thing.
I don't think that they'd be putting Drew through all of this for it not to have some sort of massive payoff.
So I would just say, and I know it's difficult as a wrestling fan to have any sort of patience
because we want things now, but just have a little bit of patience on that one.
Russell Carabal on Facebook says,
when do you think Roman Raines will retire?
Is it sometime in the 2030s?
Yeah, it seems like a pretty fair guess.
2030s?
Yeah, I think definitely.
And we were talking about the Hall of Fame earlier.
Yeah, of course, Roman Raines is a future Hall of Famer
whenever he decides to hang him up.
I do think that Roman Raines,
and we're kind of already seeing it in the last year or two,
I think he's going to move to that Brock Lesnar type of schedule.
And I think that that benefit
It's both him, obviously.
It's less wear and tear on the body, less travel,
more time than he gets to spend with his family.
I think that's all amazing.
I also think it benefits the fans.
Because just like the Brock Lezzer situation,
when Roman Reins shows up, it's meaningful.
When Roman Raines shows up, it means something.
In the same way that when Brock Lezzer would show up
or Brock Lezzer would have a match, it meant something.
These aren't just throwaway matches.
If he's only going to wrestle five times a year,
my goodness, you better be there when those matches happen.
So I think that with the schedule that Roman's on or has been on,
I mean, obviously we haven't seen him since WrestleMania.
And I mean, he could return at SummerSlam.
That feels like that would make a lot of sense.
I feel like we're definitely going to see him in the ring again at some point in
2024.
But if he's continuing to work this schedule where he's not taking a ton of bumps,
yeah.
I mean, he can work well into his 40s.
And the precedent has been set here.
like a Randy Orton, best shape of his life, 43.
Look at AJ Styles, incredible shape at 46 years old.
And I think that, and then, you know, of course, Seamus and the shape that he's in
and continuing to work the pace that he's working, the Mizz, you know, Finn Baller,
the list goes on and on.
So, yeah, he'll work well into his 40s, I would think.
And, yeah, so 2030 sounds about right.
I think that would give him plenty of time.
How many more championships does he win?
How many more rains does he have?
It'd be very interesting to see that.
But he's 39 right now.
Six years from now would take us to 2030.
He'd be 45 years old.
Yeah, sure.
I like that.
Yeah, absolutely.
James Johnston on Facebook says,
you ask your guests what their three things are that they're grateful for.
I have one for you. What is your why? I always love talking about what someone's why is.
And actually, one of my favorite books I recommend it all the time is start with why.
Simon Sinek, is the name of the author. Fantastic book. He also has a great TED talk about that same
concept that why is more important than what or who. Why? For me, career wise, my why has always
been to be excited for what I'm going to do that day and then to be proud of what I've done at the
end of the day. And I don't know how much of my whole story that you know, but I've talked about
this a bunch. If you listen to any interviews that I've ever done, I always wanted to work in
broadcasting. I always love the idea of storytelling, which is at the core of what broadcasting is all
about. And I went to school for communication studies. That's where I got my Bachelor of Arts degree.
Wilford Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.
But I had an epiphany in my senior year.
Like, I had the best time at university.
Lived with four of my best friends in a house that was like a 30-second walk from campus.
We went to many, many different bars.
Wednesday was Phil's.
Thursday was loose-change-Louis.
Friday was most often the Rev.
Saturday, the turret, or loose-change-Louis.
back at Phil's,
fills,
by the way,
had $1.75 drinks.
Yeah, you heard that right.
$1.75.
So in Canada,
that means you're sliding them a tunie.
A tunie for a drink.
Crazy.
So I was having the best time,
living there with my four best friends.
And then in my senior year,
I woke up and I was like,
oh my gosh, like at the end of this year,
we graduate.
And then we go work for, you know,
know the rest of our lives. And that's such a hard thing to wrap your head around when you're,
I was 21 at the time. Really difficult thing for you to wrap your head around at that age.
And I just thought in that moment of like, I don't want to be one of those people who hates going to
work. I don't want to be one of those people who can't enjoy Sunday because all they're doing
is thinking about going to work on Monday and dreading, waking up and going to this job that they hate.
that is also part of my why was I just didn't want to hate my job.
Loving my job would be incredible.
Oh my gosh, the best thing ever.
But I just didn't want to hate my job.
That's really what drove me so much was like,
I wanted to do everything I could in my power to at least try when I was 21, 22,
23, 24 so that if I did end up living a life where I didn't enjoy going to work,
when I was 70 years old, I couldn't look back and go, man, I didn't at least try. I didn't give it
110%. So that was it for me. In that moment, I reached out to, I put together a bit of a plan.
I did some research. And then I emailed every radio station and every TV station in my college town.
And I said, hey, I am a senior communication studies major, passionate about broadcasting. This is what I want to do for a living.
can I just come in and volunteer and see how things are done in the real world.
And that's really what got the ball rolling because it's crazy to think.
I went in Waterloo, Ontario, to my college town, there were two universities and a community
college.
There was Wilford Laurier University, where I went, there was the University of Waterloo,
and there was Conestoga College.
So there were all these students.
It was one of those towns that transforms during the school year.
I think it's something like an influx of like 50 or 60,000 students come
there. And then during the summer, the population drops back down because there's not as many
students there. It's really crazy for me to think that there weren't that many other students
that had the foresight to reach out to the quote unquote real world and try to find those jobs.
Like, I feel like I was the only person who reached out to those radio stations and those TV
stations just looking for some real world experience. And, you know, obviously I didn't hear back
from a lot of those people.
But the few I did hear back from, they were open to the idea. And that was really what
kickstarted things in my career was me going, that's the thing that, like, drives me. That's the
thing I want to do. I don't know if it's possible, but I'm going to do everything in my power
to make sure it either, it either is possible or it isn't possible. And I'm grateful to be able to say that
those little steps along the way and led to some other steps that led to some other steps.
And here we are hanging out together right now.
So if you're in that same stage of your life, I'd say just try to find the things in your life
that drive you and whatever your why is.
My why is obviously shifted a little bit, becoming a father, becoming a husband.
Like that certainly drives me a lot now, is just trying to be the best father.
that I can be to our little girl, trying to be the best husband that I can be to Rachel.
And I think that'll continue to shift and grow as Logan, our daughter, continues to get older.
And as our son enters the world, due date is December 11th.
Oh, baby.
Can't wait.
Christian 07 Luna on Instagram says, what do you think about Christian Cage winning the AW World Trio's Championship?
Christian Cage is doing the best work of his career.
Hands down, Barnum.
And it's just been amazing to see everything he's doing with the patriarchy and this
badass heel character.
He was a great TNT champion.
And I love that he's the AEW World Trails champion now.
Excited to see where this goes.
If you're not aware of the work that Christian Cage is doing, spend a little bit of time
on YouTube today.
and check it out. It is so worth the watch. He's doing, he's just doing such great work there.
So I'm excited to see where this goes. And I know we don't have a ton more time with Christian Cage as an active wrestler.
But I just love that he is maximizing all of the time that he's getting and just doing the most with it.
Eric Whedon sent this one in on Spotify. Love those Spotify comments. Hey, Chris, question for what I assume is the
Dirknowitzky edition of Ask CVV. It is, my friend, it is. You're great at what you do and all of your
interviews sound like easy conversations, but I'm curious if anyone you've interviewed has surprised
you with how easy it was to interview them. I'm not sure what I was expecting from Baron Corbyn,
for example, but his episode seemed like an effortless conversation. Thank you. Yeah, the Baron
Corbin one's a really great example. I don't feel like we get to hear a ton from Baron Corbyn,
either in character, like as a promo or out of character.
Like, it's not like, you know, you get to see a lot of Cody's stuff, right?
Cody's doing the documentary and he's doing like community events.
Like you're, I feel like we have a pretty good grasp on who Cody Rhodes is.
But I agree with you.
When it's someone like a Baron Corbyn, you're not sure.
Like, what am I going to get here?
Baron Corbyn's the best.
I feel like he needs to come back on the show.
It's been almost a year.
If you haven't heard the episode yet, go back and give it a listen.
it will give you a completely new respect for who Baron Corbyn the competitor is and who
Baron Corbyn the person is and everything that he's done in his career, not just his wrestling
career, but also his football career. And the man loves to cook and barbecue. That was really
fun to talk to him about that. So another one that really struck me was Jay Lethal. And we're
going back three, almost four years to that interview. And it was done over Zoom. And I'm
not a big fan of Zoom interviews, but there was just something about this where I'd never met
him before. And it just felt like we were old friends. From the second the Zoom window opened up
and it started, it just felt like we were just riffing and just having a great time and just
hanging out and someone happened to hit record. Those ones always blow me away. Like when it's an
hour of continuously like, here is a question and then the person's answering and then you're
like, all right, here is another question.
I just feel like those can get so monotonous.
And they're not, they're not fun to be, like, involved in those conversations.
Because it just almost feels like an interrogation at that point.
It's like, question, answer, question, answer, question, answer, answer, question.
I would much rather just bounce off of one another and like, yeah, I'm just, there's
sometimes when, like, they say something that makes me go, oh, man, I didn't even think about
that.
Well, now we need to talk about this other thing.
Like, perfect example, Cody Rhodes.
some throwaway line that he says about Taylor Swift. And I'm like, wait a second. My mind's going,
is Cody Rhodes a Taylor Swift fan? What's your favorite Taylor Swift song? And then he says,
style? And I'm like, oh my gosh, that is my favorite song. I definitely ask Rachel next time.
Style is my favorite. Cruel summer. That's up there as well, but style is my favorite Taylor Swift song.
I feel like those are the moments where you're just like, oh, this is not an interview at all.
This is just a conversation between two people.
And I'll never not be impressed when those like moments happen.
Those moments of just like, this is just two people hanging out and there happens to be a camera right there.
Love it.
Dakota Johnson emailed this one in, oh my gosh, is that, is that Dakota Johnson from that video with Leslie Mann and me?
You share the same name.
Dakota Johnson emailed this one in, Ask CvV-41.
Dirk Nowitzky edition.
Wow.
I love how everybody's on board with the Dirk
Nowwitsky edition.
That one felt easy.
That felt as easy as like,
who's going to be 23?
I mean, everybody knows who number 23 is going to be.
Who's going to be 40?
No, 42 is an easy one.
Come on.
I'm not going to say it this week.
I don't like to give it away until next Friday,
but I feel like everybody knows who 42 is, right?
Hey, CV, I love popcorn.
And popcorn is fantastic while watching.
wrestling. What is your favorite snack to eat while watching wrestling? Well, I got to preface
Dakota by saying, first of all, obviously, popcorn is incredible. Nothing. Nothing is better than movie
theater popcorn, especially when they have the real butter. Like, if you go to one of those
classic theaters, like not one of the chains, you go to one of the smaller independently owned
theaters and they give you actual butter, not that like gross butter flavored
oil. It doesn't even like butter toppings, what they call it. That just ruins my stomach. I love the
taste of it, but it just feels like there's rocks in my stomach by the time the movie is over.
So I agree with you. Popcorn is amazing. If I ever see a movie, I'm definitely getting a popcorn
every single time. I got to preface this by saying, I live on the West Coast. So wrestling's
not coming on, you know, the same time. Obviously, I grew up watching Rot 9.5.
o'clock. Ra's obviously moved to 8 o'clock with it being a three-hour show. Dynamites on at 8 o'clock.
You've got to remember that I'm watching this on the West Coast. So Ra's on at 5 o'clock, okay? Smackdown's on at 5 o'clock.
And dynamites on at 5 o'clock. So it's a totally different situation here.
Most of the time, we're eating dinner. We're eating dinner. I'm putting it on in the background.
And I'm kind of half paying attention to it. And Logan and Rachel are kind of half paying attention
attention to it while we're also eating. But I will say my go-to snack is salt and vinegar
potato chips. Oh, man. I feel like the bags you buy at the grocery store, I just treat
them like they're a personal size because they only last me one sitting every single time.
I'm a big fan of the ones that are made with avocado oil. So, like, Boulders has a really good
one. Oh, man, so good. Ciette also has a really good one. Like, don't get a good. I don't
me wrong. I will eat, I will eat any salt and vinegar potato chips. But that's probably my,
my go-to snack. Rachel also loves the, like, the bagged popcorn, not like the microwave
popcorn, like the lesser evil popcorn, where you're buying the bag like next to the chips. So it's
like the pre-popped big bag that's already like it's on the chip aisle. She loves that. And also
treats that like it's a personal size bag of popcorn. And look, I don't blame her. She's pregnant right now.
but I'll dive into that as well.
So that one's a,
that one's a good one for sure.
I don't do it often.
Don't do it often, Dakota,
but Oreos.
Oh, man.
Oreos are just so good.
Like,
I feel like I could do a line of Oreos.
And by that, I mean,
when you open them up
and there's the three lines there,
I will do a line.
It's like 10 Oreos or 12 Oreos or whatever.
Golden Oreos, the thin ones,
Too good.
I will say that I used to be a candy fiend.
I used to be bad about candy.
Skittles, mambas, starburst,
Sour Patch Kids, Swedish fish, all of them.
I'm not, I mean, I just know that eating a bag of sugar like that is not good at all.
So I've dialed back the sugar quite a bit.
So I'll still dabble if we go to the movies.
have a few sour patch kids, but I can't buy the movie-sized bag of sour-patch kids anymore.
It's too much.
And what it does to your tongue, sour-patch kids just ruins your tongue.
So popcorn, fantastic.
Love it.
Salt and vinegar chips.
That's the one for me.
And that, my friends, is the final question here on AskCTVV number 41.
Of course, we've got the SummerSlam predictions coming up next week for AskCV number
42 will be in Cleveland as that one is there. I can't wait to be with you guys in Cleveland.
And again, I mentioned it off the top. I'm going to be in Minneapolis this weekend.
I will be interviewing a certain former governor of Minnesota there. And I may or may not
have a surprise or two up my sleeve for that interview. Yeah. I'll leave you with this quote
from Jim Rohn. Success is the result of doing, success is the result of nothing more than a few
simple disciplines practiced every day. Think about that. Just a few simple disciplines. You do it every
single day. That, my friends, builds to success. Be great. Be grateful. Have an amazing weekend.
Thank you for being with us on this one. We will see you on the next one. For some more insight. Yes.
With Goldberg.
The Hammer Alley podcast, an 80s flashback mockumentary.
Back in the 80s, there were a thousand bands trying to make it in the world of rock.
But there was one band that had it all.
Hammer Alley.
Whatever happened to Hammer Alley?
How did they go from top of the rock?
I'm looking for a music video.
They're a band from 1987.
