Starting point is 00:00:01 Oh yes. Welcome back to another one here on Insight. I'm CVV, Chris Van Fleet. It's Insight with Chris Van Fleet. Thank you so much for being with us on this episode. I hope it's been a great week for you. Thank you, as always, for helping to make Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet. You guys have been sharing it so much with your friends and I see all the screenshots on social media. Thank you for tagging me in those. I love sharing those out. Thanks for helping this thing to organic grow in the way that it has. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that. If you haven't yet, hit that follow button, grab your phone right now, lay it down on the ground, then climb up on something relatively high, not too high, relatively high, and then hit a big old swan tom bomb on that
Starting point is 00:01:08 follow button so you don't miss out on anything that we have coming up. When I recorded Ask CVV48 last week, I was telling you guys, I was in Orlando. I did three big interviews there. with NXT moving to the CW on Tuesday, October 1st. So three big interviews, you're going to start to see those. Actually, I think they're the next three. Yeah, they're the next three guests that we have. Ethan Page, Sean Spears, Trick Williams. So you'll be seeing those in the next week and a half as we head towards, my goodness,
Starting point is 00:01:41 as we head towards a very exciting first week of October in wrestling. I was looking at the calendar and I was like, okay, NXT moves to the CW on a October 1st, NXT starts to become a touring show live in Chicago. CM Punk's going to be there, special guest referee, the rematch of Ethan Page and Trick Williams. I love all of the elements of that. That's so exciting. And NXT is going to be in so many more households on the CW than it was available
Starting point is 00:02:08 when it was on the USA Network, which I think is so exciting. The next day is the five-year anniversary of AEW Dynamite. So October 2nd, 2019 was the very first episode of Dynamite. And if you watch back that episode and you don't blink, you may see someone that you recognize. Yeah, I was in a very brief, very brief segment, very small part, a teeny little tiny part of the very first episode of Dynamite doing something with Kevin Smith and Jason Mews out there interviewing them in the crowd. Then we got interrupted. It turned into a whole angle there. but go check out the episode.
Starting point is 00:02:48 And again, don't blink because it's a super quick thing. But on that card, it was just announced recently, Will Osprey versus Rickache in AEW. Oh, my goodness. I can't wait for this. And it's for the international championship. That match is just going to be bonkers. My goodness.
Starting point is 00:03:10 I can't wait for that one. Then that weekend, October 5th, bad blood in Atlanta. If you're going there, I would love to be able to run into you either before the show, after the show, maybe somewhere wandering around the arena there. But I'm going to be in Atlanta for a handful of days there. Shooting some content with DDP. And I'm also, yeah, he's coming back in the show. He hasn't been on the show since episode 500.
Starting point is 00:03:33 So it's been a long time since my good buddy Dallas has been on the show. And he just has always dropping so many nuggets of wisdom. It's like, can't wait to just share another conversation with him and see what comes out. I always leave those ones just on such a high because he just, I've never met someone more positive than him. And he just thinks on a completely different level. And I love that. So I'm going to be hanging out with DDP, shooting some content with him for both of our YouTube channels. And then also lining up a few other interviews while WWE is in town. Speaking of WWE being in town. They are in my neck of the woods. They're in Ontario, California this Monday.
Starting point is 00:04:15 It's at like 40-ish minutes from where I live. So I'm going to be there on Monday. So might also run into you there. And if you do, I would love to shake your hand, give you a high five, fist bump, whatever it is. And let's just chat a little bit of wrestling. But Monday, September 23rd in Ontario, California should be a pretty good one. But yeah, I was just looking at the calendar. I was like, oh man, October 1st, October 2nd, October 5th. It's going to be real, real good. Welcome, my friends, to Ask CVV, number 49, the knuckleball edition. It's crazy when you think of how many famous knuckleballers wore number 49.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Tim Wakefield, Charlie Huff, Tom Candiotti, and you guys know I'm a big baseball fan, grew up playing a lot of baseball. probably don't watch it as much now as I should. I'd say that the NFL has kind of leapfrogged the amount of sports that I'm watching. It's leapfrogged my baseball watching. So NFL is probably number one on that list. Baseball is a solid number two. And I'm so sorry for all my Canadian friends that the NHL and hockey is not one or two on my list. I mean, I still like hockey.
Starting point is 00:05:30 It's just, I feel like it's difficult when you live in California. and it's, you don't see snow unless you drive to the mountains or before this I lived in Florida. It's hard to get into the hockey mood. It's hard to get into the hockey spirit. I haven't put skates on in years, even though I grew up playing hockey since I was six years old. Hockey's still a sport I love watching live. And I live 10-ish minutes, 15 minutes from where the Anaheim Ducks play and then maybe 45 minutes from where the L.A. Kings play. I love going to games live, but yeah, it's just amazing when we look at the numbers here.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Number 49, I'm worn by so many legendary knuckleballers. So this is the knuckleball edition of Ask CVV. What's number 50 going to be? Send in those suggestions along with your questions using the hashtag, Ask CVV on social media. Shoot me an email, CVV at chris fanfleet.com. Or leave a comment on Spotify. I wonder if this can be the episode where we break 100 comments again. I don't think we've broken 100 comments in like a month or so since comments came back
Starting point is 00:06:43 on the Spotify. You guys got very excited and left a bunch of comments. Can this be the episode? Could this be the episode? We break 100 comments. So if you're listening to this right now on Spotify, check the comments. See how many there are. And if there's like 78 of them, add one in.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Be number 79. If there's 40, if there's 49 of them, yeah, I feel like you're the lucky person who had number 49, the comment number 49 on episode number 49. But thank you as always for being here. I love hanging out with you one on one on Fridays just like this. We'll kick things off with this question from Facebook from James Mansow. CTV, can you please help me make sense of this? Roman and Cody are supposed to hate each other.
Starting point is 00:07:30 now they're teaming up together at bad blood? What the heck? Did you guys see that meme? It's Randy Orton and Kevin Owens standing in the ring looking just flabbergasted and it says when you spend years of your life helping Cody Rhodes fight the bloodline just to watch Cody Rhodes team up with Roman Raines. It's funny and it's it is I feel like on the surface level at least a little difficult to make some sense of this. And I always appreciate when logic is called out in wrestling because there are times when logic does not exist and we're just supposed to go, oh, yeah, that makes the most sense for the story. And I get it. Roman Raines is not officially a baby face yet. He's done some baby face-ish things, but he's not officially a baby face. I suppose this match would make him a baby face,
Starting point is 00:08:21 but there's a lot of unknowns with this one. This also kind of reminds me. It's a lot like when Seth Rollins and Cody hated each other, and then they teamed up together at WrestleMania 40 against Roman the bloodline. It's like, wait a second here. You just come in together for the greater good to defeat this evil entity. I think that there's a lot of things that are going to go on in this match where the match itself doesn't really matter that much. I think like Paul Heyman feels like he'll play a part in this. And they haven't said it yet, but it kind of feels like it goes without saying that this is going to be contested under bloodline rules.
Starting point is 00:09:03 And then you can have really anybody you want show up to this thing. It feels to me like this is an easy win for Cody and Roman because I can't see any sort of scenario where either of them are taking a pin in the middle of the ring. Cody as the champion taking a pin doesn't seem to make any sense. And then Roman, as strong as he has been booked previously, obviously he lost at Russell 8040, but everything before that, I can't see him taking a pen either. So the outcome of this match feels really obvious, but it's not about the actual outcome of this match. It's about all of the other things that are going to go on together here that are, I'm assuming,
Starting point is 00:09:46 are going to lead to a Survivor Series match. I've heard a lot of people say they think the Rock's going to return at Bad Blood. And I just don't see that happening. Obviously, I don't know the inner workings of this, but I feel like the rock has been holding out for big moments. And I don't think we see the rock again. The three big moments in my mind, as I sit here right now, are Survivor Series. Saw a really big return there last year.
Starting point is 00:10:13 The next big moment would be Netflix, Raw going to Netflix. That's a big one. We already know John Cena's going to be there. And then the next one after that's the. Royal Rumble. Seems to me like the Rock should be in play before the Royal Rumble if we're going to then start to tell a story that involves the Rock leading into WrestleMania 41. But I just don't see it happening at bad blood. And I, the only reason I say that is because it's not a big enough PLE. It's not one of the big four. The WWE championship isn't
Starting point is 00:10:46 even being contested. That's how not big, not important on the hierarchy. this is. I don't see the rock returning to this one. But hey, I guess anything could happen. And we'll see. But I think Paul Heyman plays a role in this. And it'll just be really interesting to see how this plays out and what the implications are here. Because it feels like we're setting up for a big bloodline Survivor Series match that is two months away right now, two and a half months away, but we'll see how that all plays out. Charlie Helmstettler on Instagram says, Hey, CVV, looking forward to Ask CVV,
Starting point is 00:11:32 number 49, the Charlie Knuckleball Huff edition. See? So that I was talking about. With rumors swirling about WWE not renewing their deal with Deaf Rebel, could we potentially see a 2024 version of the forcible entry album? What artists and songs would you like to see connected to various superstars? Well, if that deal is indeed done, we're going to get back to that era where traditional bands, like bands you would hear on the radio, are doing songs for WWE superstars.
Starting point is 00:12:03 And if you think about it, I mean, there's obviously some exceptions there, but if you think about it, the absolute best WWE theme songs, not just currently, but like of all time, are the ones that are recorded by bands. Yeah, Triple H with Motorhead. you've got I love the Stone Cold disturbed version. I thought that was so cool. You got Cody Road's song now done by Downstate. You got Randy Orton with his song Voices by Rev Theory. Like there's so many of those great ones. I think Downstate did a whole bunch of songs there for a while. They did Alex Riley and Dolph Ziegler and The Miz, still do the Miz. I think that that's exactly what we're
Starting point is 00:12:45 getting back to here. We're going to get back to an era where maybe there's some massive bands, massive artists like Motorhead. For example, obviously it's not going to be Moorhead, but someone on that level who's going to do a theme song. But then you might get a band who's like Downstate who doing a WWE theme song really raises them to the next level. If you look at Downstate Spotify, they've got all kinds of albums. And I love those guys. They obviously record the theme song for Inside with Chris Van Fleet as well. But when you look at their Spotify, all of their most popular songs are the ones that you and I listen to at the gym all the time. They're the WWE theme songs. So it's probably not forcible entry 2024, but I think as we head into 2025,
Starting point is 00:13:36 we're going to start to see some really cool theme songs. All L.A. Knight's theme song. LA Knight's theme song has been remixed by a band, and they are called Letdown. And I think there's going to be just a lot more of that. And I know that there's been a lot of criticisms of Def Rebel. I think some of them are warranted. I think they've also had some really solid songs. And I think people are, you've got to take the bad with the good with everything. But I think that they've had a lot of great songs.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Roman Raines, Ria Ripley, Jay Uso, Seth Rollins, like the least. list goes on. And I get it. Yeah, there are many that are not good. Solo Sikola is a good one. Damien Priest. Yeah, there's, but there's also a lot where you're like, hmm, feel like they could have come up with something better there. So it'll be really interesting to see what happens. And this is, I think, just another example of small but meaningful changes that have been happening in the Triple H era. And another one, just as a quick little tangent here is the amount of people who WWE has been signing to these Legends contracts. People who have been WWE adjacent for many years, but names that you haven't seen pop up
Starting point is 00:14:54 on WWE television since they were released 10, 15, sometimes 20 years ago. I think that's WWE's way of taking care of some of their talent. And I love that. You see it happen in other sports with the Players Association that exists in other sports. there was a long stretch of time there where when you got released from WWE, it was kind of like good riddance. I mean, it was quite literally good luck in your future endeavors. And the fact that they're now taking care of them with Legends contract, which means we're going to pay you a certain amount every single year. We're also going to license out some things that have your
Starting point is 00:15:33 name on it or your branding on it. And you're going to get a cut of that as well. I think that's great. And it's just these are the small, meaningful changes that we've been seeing in the WWE. Another one that just immediately pops into my mind is the bridges that have been mended. Like, if I had asked you a few years ago, you think we'll ever see Jesse Ventura on WWE programming again, you'd say, of course not. That's no, that's never going to happen. And it happened two months ago.
Starting point is 00:16:03 And I think we're going to be seeing Jesse Ventura some more. So I love these small but meaningful changes and theme music. is one of the most important parts of a wrestler's presentation. And I think that if you can make those go from pretty good to great or go from great to outstanding or excellent, that's, again, small but meaningful. Adam John Keats left this one on Spotify. Hey, CVV, great episode again.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Here's my question for AskCV number 49, the Tim Wakefield edition. We love the knuckleballers. What is your basic travel tips? I'm traveling to Toronto to watch the Raptors and Lakers in November, and I haven't flown in eight years. I'd be grateful for a couple domestic travel tips. I traveled quite a bit. In fact, as I record this right now, as you guys know, this is no secret. It is not Friday as I'm recording this because these episodes come out at midnight Pacific time, so that would be quite literally impossible. Unless I owned Doc Brown's time machine. Great, Scott.
Starting point is 00:17:11 greatest movie of all time. So these are recorded on Thursday. So I'm heading to the airport right after I record this. I'm heading to Calgary. And no, unfortunately, I am not interviewing that extremely well-known wrestler from Calgary. I'm speaking at Pod Summit, which is a huge Canadian podcasting convention. I'm absolutely stoked to be there.
Starting point is 00:17:35 If you live in the Calgary area, I think there might still be some tickets available. PodSummit.com, you can go check that. I'm speaking Saturday morning. So it'd be awesome to see you there. So I travel quite a bit. I think one of the biggest things is people seem to think you can't bring food to the airport. Like they pack like these weird like snack packs of like, I don't know, chips or a handful of nuts or trail mix or something like that. You can bring food like actual meals to the airport.
Starting point is 00:18:06 I think people treat this like they're going to a stadium. And yeah, you can't bring water bottles. That is a thing. But I think that people somehow lump into that you also can't bring food. I bring meals from home all the time. Factor is a fantastic sponsor of the show. I bring factor meals with me to the airport all the time. Or I'll just pack a like a Tupperware container with rice and some turkey breast or
Starting point is 00:18:34 rice and some chicken. That's a big one. Because if you're flying a long flight, like if your flight's three, four, five, six hours, you're going to get hungry. And unless you're flying first class, you're going to be sitting in economy and your option's going to be a little tiny little bag of pretzels or those awful cookies that they give you on American Airlines. I can't stand them. Those like Biskopf cookies. And they're fine. This is not a knock on those cookies. It's just when you're super hungry and it's a five-hour flight and your only option is those
Starting point is 00:19:06 little cookies, cookies or pretzels? Cookies or pretzels? Those are your only options? Bring some food with you. That's tip number one. Tip number two, you probably don't need to get to the airport as early as you think you do. It fascinates me how many people arrive like three hours before their flight. Oh, because something might happen. Yeah, something might happen. The longest line I've seen at security this year, and I don't know the exact number, but I would guess I've been. on something like 90 to 100 flights this year, the longest security line that I've seen is maybe 20 minutes. And that's not to say there can't be a line that's longer. And yes, stuff happens. But I would much rather, especially for an early morning flight, I'd much rather get an extra half hour asleep,
Starting point is 00:19:56 extra hour of sleep, than be sitting at the gate with three hours to kill, sitting again at the gate and then you're going to go sit on an airplane for another three or four or five hours. So I got another thing. And I understand. I've been traveling quite a bit. It's been almost every single week. And I've got this down to a fine arch now of, I think in a perfect world, I like to arrive to the airport and get through security with about half an hour to spare. That might be cutting it a little bit too fine half an hour before boarding, I should say. But you probably don't need to arrive as early as you think. I think those are the two main tips. Bring water, either bring a water bottle that you can fill up at one of those fountains by the bathroom that you can bring on the
Starting point is 00:20:47 plane or buy a bottle of water because especially on a long flight, they might come by maybe twice with drink options. And for me, two little cops. of water is not even close to enough water for me. So I always like to go on the plane with some water and also just something, what's going to entertain you? What are you planning to do? Are you planning to read a book? Are you planning to sleep? Are you planning to watch a movie? What, like have some sort of a plan for what you're going to do in that time. I think that's it. I get a lot of work done on a plane. I also now travel with a physical book. There's something about holding a physical book that makes me feel like, I have a comprehensive.
Starting point is 00:21:26 something because I have a book with pages in my hand. So I try to read 10 to 20 pages. I know it's not a lot. But if you do 10 to 20 pages a day and your book is, say, 300 pages long, well, guess what? You do 10 pages a day. You read your book in one month. So that is, that's kind of my goal. So I would say just safe travels. Adam, I hope that you have a great time in Toronto. Man, Raptors versus Lakers, that's going to be a great one. So I hope you have a great time there. And if I think of any other, like, super easy travel tips, I will let you know. But those are the, I think the really obvious ones that come to mind for me.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Colin Willardson sent this one in, said, this is regarding the upcoming Vince McMahon documentary on Netflix. It seems like they've managed to feature many iconic former wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stoneco, Steve Austin, John Cena, and Triple H. I'm curious, do you think these wrestlers were fully aware? that they were participating in a potentially critical documentary about Vince, considering their ongoing association with the company, could they have agreed to appear on camera in an attempt to shape a different narrative
Starting point is 00:22:38 for the company's benefit? However, if the documentary is as critical as some people on Reddit are suggesting, could wrestlers like the Rock, Triple H, or Sina be putting themselves in a vulnerable position? Well, I think that at the outset here, when this documentary was first pitched and they first started filming this, the direction of it, was very different than where we ended up. I mean, that's obviously how they were able to get Vince McMahon himself to sit down on camera and talk about his career. To my understanding, when this was first being filmed before the lawsuit, before all of these allegations, this was more
Starting point is 00:23:16 of a, who is Vince McMahon? What makes him tick? How was he able to build this worldwide brand from basically nothing. I believe that that was what the focus was. So that's how you've got people like Vince and the Rock and Triple H and Sina and everybody else, Stone Cold, talking about their relationship with Vince McMahon. Because if you think about it, and it goes without saying, The Rock, Triple H, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Cogan, everybody that you're going to see here, they don't have a career without Vince McMahon. And you're going to have to take the good with the bad here. And it should also be pointed out that the bad is still alleged. So we're still in an in-between area here. And if this case ever does go to court, they may have to do some sort of
Starting point is 00:24:08 a follow-up with this documentary of like, okay, now here's the fallout of the lawsuit and the allegations against Vincent McMahon. But we're still in an area now of these are allegations and things haven't been proven. I feel like that's important to point out. Mick Foley had some similar comments about that, which I'm kind of borrowing from his words with that. But it's going to be really interesting to see what the balance is here. Because without the past history of everything that Vince built, you can't get to the point where WWE is now in this post-Vince McMahon world. But you can't talk about Vince McMahon's legacy without talking about the last two years and everything that's gone on there with these lawsuits. So I believe the direction of this changed drastically.
Starting point is 00:25:06 And maybe there was even conversations of what do we do? What do we do with everything we have? Because our focus was this way. Now we've got to take a massive turn and start to focus on what's at hand here. It's six episodes. How many of those six episodes are going to focus on the perception of Vince right now and what's topical and newsworthy right now with these allegations? And how much of them are going to focus on what he bought from Vince McMahon Senior and what he turned this from the territories into its global brand, Hulkomania into the golden years, into the attitude era, into Ruth's aggression and everything, you know, all the different eras that end up building on from that.
Starting point is 00:25:50 where's the balance here going to be? And it was very clear to me that WWE did not have any sort of involvement when I saw Chris Benoit make an appearance in the trailer. I went, oh, okay, well, Chris Benoit doesn't really exist in WVE land. So seeing Chris Benoit in that trailer made me go, well, clearly nothing is off limits here. So if nothing is off limits, it'll be, yeah. It'll be really interesting to see how this all plays out. But I don't think that the Rock or John Cena or Triple H or Stone Cold saying good things about what Vince did for his career, I don't think that is damning to their legacy or
Starting point is 00:26:36 their career in any sort of way. What they would be speaking to is their truth. And if Vince was able to provide them with these opportunities long before his allegations came out, I don't see how that could be held against them. But it just seems to me that, yeah, they probably came on camera. If you, let me put it this way. If you asked them to do an interview today for this documentary knowing full well, the full scope of Vince McMahon and everything that's gone on recently with him,
Starting point is 00:27:14 yeah, I'm pretty sure 100% of those people would be saying no to being part of it. So it just kind of feels like they were able to, with the timing of this, catch lightning in a bottle there. And now it has taken on a life of its own. And when this thing comes out, and it's soon. It's next Wednesday, September 25th. When this thing comes out, all wrestling fans are going to have all eyes on this. And we'll obviously have a lot to chat about next week on Ask CVV number 50. about that one.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Kevin Marco on Facebook says, hey, CVV, I really loved your recent interview with Dave Batista. What do you think is his best performance? Also, since we're talking about it, what's been the best performance for The Rock and John Cena? I really loved that interview with Dave Batista. And it's amazing that the level of fame that he's achieved, he's still just a humble,
Starting point is 00:28:12 he's a humble dude. And he loved talking about wrestling. That was such a really cool thing. to be part of. We chatted a ton about wrestling. Yeah, we chatted about his new movie, which is out now, The Killers Game,
Starting point is 00:28:24 starring Drew McIntyre as well. But as for his best performance, in my opinion, it's Cabin in the Woods. The subtlety to that performance, the nuance of his character, and I don't want to give too much away here, but there is a question
Starting point is 00:28:42 that's being raised throughout the whole film. And his character doesn't let you, believe one way or another, whether this is true or not true. I think that that's his best performance. And he was so gentle in it. Like the way that his character was portrayed was so gentle, but at the same time, so menacing. And I think that that is a peek into what he's capable of. And when he told me during his interview that he wants to be in the conversation for awards,
Starting point is 00:29:16 I think that that's the type of movie where another studio or another director could look at this and go, oh, yeah, that guy has what it takes to play an Oscar winning role. As for John Sina, I think he really came into his own with Peacemaker. Peacemaker just feels like it's an extension of who he is. Like, I feel like nobody else could have played Peacemaker in the way that John Sina plays Peacemaker. I also think that for him, for John Cena, Blockers was a really good one. Blockers made us go, like if you were a wrestling fan and you saw the, the, gee, golly, gosh, John Cena that we saw for so many years, who was hustle, loyalty and respect. And then you see him, like, making these incredibly crude sexual references and blockers and just the way that his character came off on camera, you went, huh, I don't know John Cena had that.
Starting point is 00:30:15 him. We saw some of that in Ricky Stenicki as well. It's like almost a version of the blockers character. And he seems to operate really well when he's just slightly unhinged and you just, you let him loose. You let him do his thing. For the Rock, we're going way back here. But walking tall, I think, is about the Rock's best performance and the Rock's best movie. And I know that's real early in his career. That's one of his first movies, but that's to me one of his most rewatchable movies, one of his most rewatchable performances. It would actually be great to see what would he have done now? If he got that role now, would he have even taken it?
Starting point is 00:30:58 It just doesn't feel like it fits in with the type of stuff that he's been doing recently. But Walking Tall, to me, is the Rock's best performance. Or if we're looking at something like much more recent, ballers, the way that he played Spencer Strathmore, again, it's almost like the Batista thing. There was a lot of subtlety and nuance to that character. And when you think of the Rock's action movies, like Fast and Furious or Rampage or San Andreas,
Starting point is 00:31:29 or like those are over the top. They're big. They're larger than life characters. And they have to be in a setting like an action film where everything in that is just incredibly heightened. Ballers was very much anchored in reality. and the way that he played Spencer felt like a character that could actually exist and like that did actually exist. And I'm sure he was pulling from his own experiences from being a formal football
Starting point is 00:31:54 player, obviously a very different story of why he left football versus why Spencer left football. But there's, it felt really anchored in reality. And I'm sure he had a lot of friends who he borrowed from to play, you know, portray that character the way he did. Those are my picks. It's not a it's not an exhaustive list. It is not a, I'm sure we could add some other things to it. This is a thing whenever you answer questions like this, people go, well, what about this movie? What about this one? Yeah, you're probably right.
Starting point is 00:32:25 You're probably right with your answers if that's the way that you feel about them. But for me, those are the ones that really stand out. Here's an email from Zach Cross. He says, hi, Chris. Do you think John Cena will return to WWE this year or is it likely to be in 2025? He could come back before this year ends. Thanks, Zach. I'm still thinking that he doesn't come back till raw on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:32:50 He's said that the John Cena retirement tour begins with that first raw on Netflix in 2025, and then it goes out, goes through the entire year until December of 2025. I just think that if he were to come out any time before them, I guess the only other possible time would be, Survivor Series. But in that, if that happens, I just think that it kind of cheapens the reaction that he would get. It would lessen the reaction that he gets when he comes out for that first time when Raw is on Netflix. And I think that WWE is going to try to do everything in their power to just come out the gates with guns blazing. I think they want to show Netflix. You guys made a great decision by putting us on Netflix as a live television show here.
Starting point is 00:33:46 So I think that's where John Cena makes his first appearance. And he said it's 35 to 40-ish appearances in 2025. Royal Rumble, that won't make sense. It's probably every PLA, if we're being honest here. And then some Raws and some smackdowns to set up those stories with maybe a fun little house show peppered in there. But, yeah, Zach, I don't think he returns in 2024. And I don't know his schedule intimately, of course.
Starting point is 00:34:15 I'm sure he has a ton of stuff going on between now and then. Franklin B on Spotify. What's up, CVV? I see you cold plunging on your Instagram. What other biohacking things do you do? I am in the cold plunge every single day. It is currently set at 42 degrees Fahrenheit, which is as a random number.
Starting point is 00:34:41 The lowest it can go is 39 degrees. I usually have it set it at either 39 degrees, because that's the coldest setting or 50 degrees, which is about the temperature that I can, oh man, this is so nerdy. I can go under and do a full snorkel plunge, like where I'm fully submerged under the water and there's just a snorkel that's above the water so I can breathe. Anything colder than 50 degrees and you just get this massive brain freeze. But yeah, there's a lot of other biohacking things. things that me and RVV do. I'm not going to explain what all of these are, but if you do any of these yourself, you'll go, oh, well, that's cool. So red light, grounding. We wake up every morning and drink apple cider vinegar with some lemon in it. We electrolytes in our water, Wimhoff breathing.
Starting point is 00:35:35 But I think the biggest one, and this is the easiest one, and I guess the least biohacky thing, is I just walk a lot. Both me and Rachel, we walk a ton. I really truly aim for 10 to 12,000 steps a day. That's not an easy thing to accomplish without being like really intentional about it, whether that's choosing to walk somewhere relatively close, like walk into the store, walking to meet up with your friends rather than a five-minute drive to get there, or like legitimately just taking a walk during your lunch hour or taking a walk in the morning. That's been, I think, one of the biggest things. It gets you out into nature.
Starting point is 00:36:16 And if you have the ability to walk in a treadmill at a gym or you own a treadmill, that's cool too. I do that quite a bit myself. But there's just something about a walk that maybe it's just put you in a good mood. And maybe it's a walk when you're having a phone call. You've got a half hour phone call or you're catching up with a friend or something like that. Just put on your shoes. Go for a little walk.
Starting point is 00:36:40 And I think that's been one of the biggest things since I worked with AJ Sims at Cement Factory on Instagram when I worked with him last year to get into the absolute best shape of my life when I turned 40. He was having me walk 12 to 15,000 steps towards the end of it when I was like really getting lean and I was like my calories had really come down. And that for me was just one of the biggest changes. And it was something that I didn't drop. I continue to do that even when I wasn't eating as lean as I was when I was with him. But I think any little thing like that, any of the things that I just listed, go look them up, Wim Hof breathing will change your life and it's super quick and super easy and anybody can do it and it's free.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Any of these little things that if you go from not doing them to just starting to implement them into your life, there's some real big shifts and changes that can come along with that. And I talked about this many episodes ago, small things like if you drink a lot of soda, just swapping out your soda for water, like the amount of sugar that you won't be drinking now is huge. So just the little changes can go such a long way. I've talked about going to be spending some time with DDP when I'm in Atlanta. These are his words, not mine. If there's a gimmick out there that exists for biohacking, he's either done it or he has it. And it's true. He is. his regimen is insane. It's incredible. And that's why he looks the way that he does at 68 years old and is able to move the way that he does at 68 years old. He can grab his foot. I'm sure you've seen the photos, but he can grab his foot and hold it above his head. Hold it straight above his head. I can't do that. Can't even come close to doing that. That's how flexible he is. So there's a lot of these just little things, these little things that for me, I can't speak for anybody else,
Starting point is 00:38:40 little things that for me have made some really big changes. You've probably heard me do the sponsorship ad reads for Merrick Health. I'm a huge believer in just knowing what your numbers are and just knowing like what is your baseline. What's your testosterone level look like? What's your free test level look like? What's your vitamin D level? All of these other things. Because yeah, you might take a multivitamin, but it would make so much more sense. And it, it would be so much more productive for you to actually supplement for the things that you're deficient in. So if you're interested at all, Merrickhealth.com slash CVV. So that's M-A-R-E-K-health.com slash CVV. The panel that I got for blood work, well, I get it every six-ish months.
Starting point is 00:39:31 It's like 81 biomarkers and really good to be able to key in and go, oh, that one was really low. The last time we came around here. What does it look like now? I've made some small changes in my life. Oh, wow, we've been able to change that one. So just something to look into if you are truly interested in trying to make some changes in your lifestyle. It's just something I'm going to throw out there. The time is now 1771 on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:39:59 No, this is on Twitter. Hey, Chris, I'm a new listener and love every single episode. Which older episodes would you recommend that I go back and listen to? Well, there's a lot. We're at episode number 656 here. I think if you go back and listen to the Cody Rhodes interview that I did from 2019, it's just a really interesting slice of life at that time. I interviewed him two days, three days before the very first double or nothing,
Starting point is 00:40:33 the very first AW event. And it's just interesting to hear, mostly where he's at with his career. And it's also interesting to hear like, I cringe when I listen to some of my older interviews, just because there's things I would do in a different way. But interesting, almost like a, it's almost like a slice of history of like where were things then, then versus where is he at now and five years into AEW? Where's AEW at now? WWE was in a really weird low spot. People will not put two and two together.
Starting point is 00:41:10 But that same week was the same week when that when they had money in the bank, Brock Lezor wasn't announced in the match and then came out, inserted himself into the match, climbs up the ladder, grabs the champion, grabs the money in the bank briefcase and wins. And people were like, what? People were just so fed up with the strange booking that was going on. This was also in the period of time when the 24-7 championship was announced and Mick Foley pulls it out of the bag and it's met with like, what the heck is that thing? Huh?
Starting point is 00:41:46 What? What is this? The 24-7 championship ended up taking on a life of his own. And if it wasn't for our truth, who knows what would have happened with a 24-7 championship? Like, I feel like he just saved that championship in so many ways. but WWE was in a weird spot in May of 2019
Starting point is 00:42:07 so to listen to that interview with Cody Rhodes from that time it's just a real interesting slice of history I don't know if there's any other way to say it my two favorite interviews they're from this year so you're not going too far back into the archives for this one
Starting point is 00:42:22 but the John's scene interview from this year and the Undertaker interview from this year I just really enjoyed those conversations and there was so much, so many great stories in there, but also just so much life knowledge that, just words of wisdom in there that I really love. So those are two that if you haven't had a chance to listen to them or you want to go back and relisten to just anything,
Starting point is 00:42:46 those ones. The J. Lethal interview that I did, he's just effortlessly funny and effortlessly charismatic and he tells the best stories. His story about getting the macho man's number and then calling him and thinking that he had the wrong number. It's just, it's a really great story that I would love to have Jay Lethal on again and be able to do that one in person. Man, he just tells such great stories. And then Jim Johnston really doesn't do a lot of interviews at all anymore. He is the legendary soundtrack of our youth. Some of the greatest WWE theme songs of all time were created by the genius that is Jim Johnston. And also, we were talking about collaborating with WWE collaborating with actual bands for some of these songs. That was also a lot of
Starting point is 00:43:43 that, the brainchild of Jim Johnston. Like, if Batista had a theme before the saliva theme, it sounded very similar. That da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. And then saliva put some words to it. I think just for the fact that Jim Johnston is a genius when it comes to composing music and being able to match someone's look with a sound, amazing. What a talent he has. Go back and listen to that one. And the John Cena interview that I did in 2019 before WrestleMania 35, he was just dropping so much wisdom. That's where I got the quote, control the controllable from him. I know it's not a John Sina quote, but I was the first time I had heard it. I hadn't heard it from anybody else. So when John Sina said it a few times during that
Starting point is 00:44:32 episode, it really stuck with me. So there's a few, just off the top of my head, there's lots of other interviews that mean a lot to me. Every interview means something to me in a different way. But those are some that if you're a new listener and you're going back into the archives, those are the few off the top of my head, some of the greatest hits that I would suggest. And if you do go back because you heard this, go leave a comment on Spotify or snap a screenshot of those episodes and let me know. It's always so cool that you've heard me talking about this thing right now, 40-ish minutes into this Ask CVV episode. And that caused you to go back and look for that episode and go listen to it. So just let me know if that.
Starting point is 00:45:21 ends up happening. Mike. dot Matthews 1 on Instagram. Here's a question for you next, Ask CVV. Is TLC a real match format? I contend that it's just a ladder match, since ladder matches are no DQ
Starting point is 00:45:33 and you can use chairs and ladders in those ones, but neither of those are relevant to the wind conditions. Mike, I'm so glad you pointed this out. You are 100% right. And it's funny that I was just talking about when we point out things in wrestling that just maybe don't quite
Starting point is 00:45:50 add up like when logic just isn't quite there you know the point of calling of the tlc match is that the three tag teams that were in the match were known for tables ladders and chairs i don't need to go through each one it's very obvious who was known for tables and ladders and chairs so i think you just had the dudleys and the hardies and edging christian put them all together let's how can we make this ladder match that's already going to be unbelievable how can we make this even more interesting well you know what? I'll always take the thing that they're all known for and throw it into the title of the match. Have you seen the meme? I shared this recently where it's like a bunch of Spider-Men. It's the Spider-Man meme where he's looking at pointing at the other Spider-Man, but there's like six of them,
Starting point is 00:46:36 and it's a no-holds barb match, pointing at a tribal combat match, pointing at a bloodline rules match, pointing at no DQ, pointing at street fight, pointing at hardcore, and pointing at extreme rules. with the idea here that they're all the same. I mean, give or take here, like some of them, you can pin the person anywhere and some of them you need to pin them in the ring, but for the most part,
Starting point is 00:47:00 the rules here are relatively the same. And I mean, in a triple threat match, there's also no disqualification, so should that also be thrown in here? I'm with you, Mike. A TLC match is, in fact, a ladder match. Although I guess in, Almost every money in the make match these days has tables involved.
Starting point is 00:47:22 It's interesting. But I agree with you fully. And if there are other things that just question the sheer logic of pro wrestling and things just not adding up, please point them out to me. So one of my favorite things about wrestling is pointing out the things that just don't quite add up there. I just find those things so interesting. So I appreciate you for pointing that out.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Amy Lou on Spotify says, Hey, Chris, doesn't autumn start in September? You mentioned that it was still summer. I'm an Aussie here, so I may be wrong. I love your show, but this got me thinking, what is your favorite season? So I was pointing out on the last Ask CVV last week, when someone was like, it's spooky season,
Starting point is 00:48:05 it's fall season, what's your favorite horror movie? I was like, well, it's still summer. And I should have brought my wife in here to talk about this, but she's hanging out with our beautiful little girl, Logan. Summer doesn't end until fall starts. Fall begins when the fall equinox begins, and the summer solstice ends. This year it's on September 22nd.
Starting point is 00:48:34 And this isn't, this is not a, oh man, well, technically it's still summer. No, this is not technical. This is factually. And I don't, I don't, it's interesting to me. And I don't care. I don't, at all. It's just interesting to me that when September 1st rolls around, people start acting like it's fall.
Starting point is 00:48:53 And like, yes, I get it. Fall may be in the air. There's something about Labor Day that kids going back to school. It's like, all right, yeah, the fall season is here. Sure. But fall is not here until Sunday. It is still summer right now as we record this. And I'm sure it's the same where you live.
Starting point is 00:49:12 And I, again, I don't care. I don't care. And if Rachel was here, she would point out that we put up the Christmas tree like in the middle of November. And the reason behind that is we have a 12-foot Christmas tree. And it just sits in the garage in a bag and a storage bag for the rest of the year. And I'm like, what are we going to do? Just bring it out December 1st to December 31st. And then it sits in a bag for 11 months of the year.
Starting point is 00:49:38 No, that 12-month, a 12-foot Christmas tree. This thing needs to be on display. So it comes out, yeah, we're one of those families. We're one of those households where our Christmas tree comes out before Thanksgiving. Yeah. And Thanksgiving super late this year. We're talking about American Thanksgiving here. Thanksgiving is the latest it could possibly be this year.
Starting point is 00:50:03 Thanksgiving is on November 28th. So I'm like, no, it's not the latest it could possibly be, but one of the latest that it could possibly be. yeah, we're going to, if you put up after Thanksgiving, like if you put it up on Black Friday or that weekend after Thanksgiving, you're only getting the Christmas tree out for like a month. So I'm just saying, I am just saying that it is still summer. That's not to say you can't have the pumpkins out. That's not to say that you can't start thinking about your Halloween costume. I'm not saying you can't drink a pumpkin spice latte. I am not saying that at all. All I am saying is I love. summer. So to answer your other question here, Amy Lou, my favorite season is summer. And I think that
Starting point is 00:50:48 that's because when you grow up in Canada, you take advantage of summer in such a big way. Like those 12 or 14 weeks that you get from like, I would say that like, yes, obviously summer starts when the summer solstice begins June 20th, 21st, 22nd, depending on the year and depending on the the stars and the moon and the planets and all that stuff. But I think that when you're just thinking about it from the season, the seasonality of it, in Canada, it begins with Victoria Day long weekend, which is always around my birthday, May 19th. In the U.S., it starts unofficially, one week later, Memorial Day weekend, and it goes unofficially till Labor Day. And you just take advantage of all of those weekends. Like if someone invites you to their cottage, you're dropping everything you're going.
Starting point is 00:51:39 If somebody says, hey, we're thinking of going camping. You're like, heck yeah, I'm there. If someone says, hey, we're going out in the boat after work. You know, because the sun doesn't set till like 9 p.m. We're going out in the boat after work. You want to join us? Yes, yes, I do. I will be there.
Starting point is 00:51:56 And as someone who's lived in a very warm climate for the last 10 years, Florida and now California, it's just not an urgency so much to take in the warm weather because you get warm weather pretty much all year. Yeah, it might not be as warm in January or February, but when it's 57 degrees Fahrenheit in February, you're like, yeah, we still go hike outside. We can still go camping if we want. Like, you don't, you don't even think twice about it. So summer is my favorite, and I think there's so many memories, like from my formidable years of like sitting around bonfires or just, like I said, the sun going down late. school being out and being able to be out with your friends on a random weekday or weeknight.
Starting point is 00:52:44 There's a lot of great memories. And growing up loving bass fishing, you really can only bass fish. I mean, the season opens on the fourth Saturday of the year. And fourth Saturday of June, what am I talking about? Bass season starts in Ontario on the fourth Saturday in June. And then it goes until November, but you're probably not. I mean, maybe you get out there on Lake Simco and do a little bit of bass fishing, but you're really just, you're just taking advantage of it.
Starting point is 00:53:15 So summer is my favorite for sure. And we'll get, we'll get Rachel back on it. This is two weeks without Rachel. I would bring her in here. Well, maybe we can make this happen. I would bring her in here, but she's, she's with Logan right now. Actually, I think she heard me. I think she heard me talking about this.
Starting point is 00:53:32 And she's, yeah, yeah, come on in. Oh, this is great. Is this going to be Logan's first appearance? Wow. We've got Mommy and Logan here. I was just talking about how summer doesn't end until September 22nd. Oh, up, up, up, she says. Which is right, right, honey? The hill that this guy will die on over the official start of fall and people just enjoying their pumpkin spice, quote unquote, too early for his standards. Guys, like I said, I really don't care. I'm just saying. This is the guy that puts our christmas. Christmas tree up at the beginning of November. It's the middle of, I mean, the middle of November.
Starting point is 00:54:14 I think it was up by like November 10th last year. It needs to be November 9th this year. I would, you know, it's a 12-foot Christmas tree. It sits in a bag in our garage the rest of the year. I don't want to, you know, we've got to be able to enjoy this thing. So for anyone that is enjoying their pumpkin spice, even though it's still summer, keep it going. Don't listen to him.
Starting point is 00:54:35 He's a hypocrite with this. I was, look. enjoy them. I already said that. This is amazing that you were able to pop in at this point in time. Just the total ballbreaker here. Hi, Logan. Hi, honey. Can you say hi? Okay. Hi. Okay, I guess not. I guess it's not the, oh, you blow a kiss. I guess this is not the podcast debut of Logan Lynn Van Fleet. Carter Kaufman has a question for you while you're here, honey. Ask CVV and ask RVV. I love I skipped ahead because you walked in here. There was a perfect timing.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Where are some of your favorite places to go for vacation? The Mrs. and I are enjoying ourselves some beach today. Well, that's amazing, Carter. I hope you guys love the beach. We were at the beach two days ago. Yeah, we love doing anything near a body of water, whether that's a beach or like the ocean or a lake. Big bear? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:31 Open. Okay. Bye, honey. Logan's like, get me out of here. I think that we We really like anything with, yeah, body of water is what we need to be by for a typical vacation, I'd say. We really liked Hawaii.
Starting point is 00:55:46 Love Hawaii. Hawaii was a good one. We've only been there once, but that's high on the list to go back to. Okay, I think you need to leave because our baby has escaped. The kids climbing up the stairs, but also Joshua Tree. Oh, we love Joshua Tree, a very special place.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Love you, honey. Thank you for popping in. She's the best. the door was closed in my office where I record here. So Rachel heard me talking about fall and pumpkin spice lattes and joined us, which was great. Logan was not liking the door being closed in here and decided to climb up the stairs, which are right next to the office. And they're now just Rachel's making sure the Logan's not falling down these stairs.
Starting point is 00:56:33 But Joshua Tree is a very special place to us. That's more of like a, it's almost like a staycation. It's about an hour and a half-ish from, for us. But yeah, I think Hawaii, high on that list. I have been, I love Paris and I love London. I've been there a bunch of times. I haven't taken Rachel there yet.
Starting point is 00:56:57 So that's another one's high on my list to go to. I also haven't been to Australia in way too long. New Zealand I've been to relatively recently. Have you heard of the movie Alita Battle Angel? I went to Weta, which is the incredible, I guess, like, CGI studio that does like the amazing visual effects for all of these movies. I went there and I visited that as part of the movie Alita Battle Angel. But, I mean, New Zealand was beautiful, but haven't been Australian in a long time. So I guess there's a short list there of some that we need to.
Starting point is 00:57:32 to go to. Also, Las Vegas, which is about a four-hour drive from here and like a 40-minute flight. Love a good quick trip to Las Vegas. Actually, which brings us to this next question here, as I'm seeing it. Oh, my goodness. How do I say your name? Amido. Amadeau. Sadi. I'm so sorry. from someone who's heard Chris Van Vlié, Chris Van Vlyat, all of the terrible mispronunciations, I apologize. Could you pitch this idea of making a WWE event inside the sphere in Las Vegas?
Starting point is 00:58:07 The UFC one was awesome. UFC 306 was pretty special. Even if you didn't watch the event, just go check out a few of the reels or clips on YouTube. Really special, the way that they've worked the visuals into the fights. I have been saying for a long time that WWE would be watching UFC 306 very closely to see what's possible because WrestleMania 41 is going to be in Las Vegas.
Starting point is 00:58:34 I could totally see Raw or Smackdown or both, maybe even NXT being in the sphere. I think there's this misconception or there was a misconception up until UFC 306 that it's a small venue for some reason. I think they had 16,000 people in there. And I believe that at full capacity, I don't think it'd be able, the octagon took up quite a bit of space.
Starting point is 00:59:01 And I think that a WWE wrestling ring would do the same. But I think at full capacity for a concert, they're closer to 18,000. I don't know why there was this misconception that this was like the size of an IMAX theater and you could only fit like 800 or 1,200 people in there. This is a full-on venue, the size of what you would see,
Starting point is 00:59:20 of NBA basketball team playing at or an NHL hockey team playing at. Like this is a, it's a real venue. So I think, especially with TKO owning both WWE and UFC, I think that they were watching very closely to see what would be possible there. So don't be surprised. Don't be surprised when you hear that either NXT takeover, raw or Smackdown, or maybe all of them are there inside the sphere. And I have also heard people say,
Starting point is 00:59:50 what about the Hall of Fame? I don't know. The way that they're doing the Hall of Fame now is kind of an add-on. It's not its own event anymore. I don't know that they would go back to doing it as its own event and just putting the Hall of Fame inside the sphere when you have the ability to make so much more money with Raw or Smackdown or NXT being in there. I don't know the official number. I guess I could look it up here. But I think UFC, I think the gate of UFC 306 of the sphere was $23 million. You're not going to make anywhere close to $23 million if you're doing the Hall of Fame in there. People aren't going to be paying as much money to see some speeches. So I think it has to be something that is a big event. So it'll be that I think in my opinion,
Starting point is 01:00:41 and I'm not an expert on this. I don't have any sort of inside track. But I think that is a matter of when they announce it, not if they announce it. It's just a matter of when that happens. Adele M. Hazar O2 on Instagram. Again, I'm so sorry. Chris Van Vliat apologizes.
Starting point is 01:01:03 What was it like for you when you first started interviewing WWE superstars? Well, it was a lot different than what I'm currently doing because I was doing these interviews with them while working for a TV station. So the interviews were
Starting point is 01:01:15 five to 10 to 15 minutes long. Some of these interviews were live on TV or live to tape on TV. So like what you saw start to finish, six minutes or whatever, that was the entire interview. So a really different approach to the interview when you're promoting a movie
Starting point is 01:01:34 or you're promoting, hey, this wrestling event is in town tomorrow night and you can get tickets. Tickets are still available. The approach of the interview is very different from these long-form conversations where you get to be able to, for 45 minutes or an hour or longer,
Starting point is 01:01:51 be able to actually dive into these conversations. And I think the other part about it, we're going back here. Like 2007 was the very first interview I did with Bobby Lashley when I worked for MTV2 Canada. Then I think my next one was Mr. Kennedy. And also it was Mr. Kennedy when he was promoting his movie. I was behind enemy lines, Columbia.
Starting point is 01:02:17 Then I did Ted DiBiase Jr. when he was the Marine too. So you're doing these interviews. That was when I was working for Sun TV in Toronto. You're doing these interviews with the focus of like, we got to promote the movie and talk about the movie and the whole idea of acting in those films. But of course, I still want to ask some wrestling questions. I wasn't able to get like as deep into the weeds
Starting point is 01:02:37 with some of those interviews that I would have liked to. And then in 2010, I moved to Cleveland. I was working for the CBS affiliate in Cleveland. we would still do the same. Like, you'd raw, TNA would be in town and you'd bring them in for an interview. And the main focus would be like trying to sell tickets. I started to do it where it's like, all right, well, that's going to be like a 45-second hit, like just a 45-second sound bite that we would air as part of the news broadcast.
Starting point is 01:03:07 I got to a, and there were some early interviews with like, I did one with Mick Foley and Jeremy Borash, which I think if you dive deep enough into my YouTube channel, you'll find. there was one with Jack Swagger, like really early on. There's Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez super early on. There's the really early interviews I did with the Ms. and Dolph Ziegler. I got to a point where instead of just doing the TV like hit, we would also do another interview for 10 or 15 or 20 minutes where we would be able to make a longer TV segment out of it that we could air like a week or two later. That was where I started a really done. into like, I'm a fan. I've been watching this for most of my life. I want to ask a question about,
Starting point is 01:03:55 you know, like for Jeff Hardy, like, I want to ask a question about like that tables match that they had with the Dudley's at Royal Rumble 2000. Or, like, I think at that time also, I just, I think, I just posted a clip of this. This was in 2011 I interviewed Jeff Hardy. If you've seen the interview, it's like we're standing in front of like a chain link fence. That was. was when CM Punk was calling himself the best in the world, which nobody had done as specifically at that time. Like you had Chris Jericho saying, I'm the best of the world of what I do, but CM Punk calling himself the best in the world, that really took on a life of its own. I remember asking Jeff Hardy, who do you think is the best in the world? And that's not a question you could
Starting point is 01:04:36 ask to a general television watching audience because they have no idea what you're talking about. but for me as a fan, I was able to ask that question and then just here, I'll just upload this onto my YouTube channel and not even think twice about it. I wasn't even really thinking about YouTube and wrestling at that time. I was really just uploading these videos to YouTube just as like a place for these interviews to live. So the approach was very different. And I also felt like it was important for me to like establish a rapport early on. So this wrestler is coming to the TV station. Likely, they've already done some other interviews that day with other TV stations and other radio
Starting point is 01:05:19 stations that are asking like the most surface level of surface level questions. And I wanted to like from the second I met them at the front door of the TV station from the second they walked in, I wanted to let them know like, I'm a wrestling fan. Like I'm speaking the same language as you. Like, you don't have to dumb this down for me. Like, I get it. You can use some insider language. and I will understand what you were talking about.
Starting point is 01:05:43 So I'd say that that's where the biggest difference was. And it wasn't probably to like 2018, 2017, 2018, 2019, when I started to like go out of my way, instead of them just coming to the TV station, I would go out on my way. Oh, there's a local independent show that's bringing in a pretty big name. Well, could I talk to that promoter and ask him,
Starting point is 01:06:06 could we promote this event on the TV show and also I'll run this on my YouTube channel. Okay, cool, let's do that. So it's changed quite a bit. Yeah, quite a bit. Kalyn underscore Flynn on Instagram. What's the most challenging thing about the podcast? I think the most challenging thing about this is consistency
Starting point is 01:06:30 because we're doing three episodes a week, every single week without fail, because I know that you guys are expecting an episode on Tuesday, expecting an episode on Thursday, expecting and ask CVV on Friday. So that consistency. And I talked about this. I was just a guest on Behind the Turnbuckle,
Starting point is 01:06:48 Jonathan Coachman's show. And Jonathan Coachman is awesome. I recorded an interview with him that day as well. So you'll be seeing that in the next few weeks here on my show. But I was saying to him that everything for my podcast changed when I started treating this like a job. So instead of treating this like a hobby where it's like, if I have time this week, I'll record an episode. Or if I can get around to booking a guest,
Starting point is 01:07:15 then we'll put out an interview this week. I made it so it's like, it's the exact same that, the exact same way that you would treat your job. You don't have a choice to go into work tomorrow or not. You got to do it. You got to go into work because you got to earn that money. And like, it's not a choice. The second I started treating my podcast like that, where it's like no matter what, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday every single week, we will be here because I know that you guys are expecting it. So that's, I think that was one of the most challenging things was like, all right, if we're going to do two interviews a week, every single week, that means there's going to be 104 of these a year. So we've got to really plan in advance.
Starting point is 01:08:02 I think right now we have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Wow. Nine interviews already recorded, ready to go. That was, I think, the most challenging thing was just getting out ahead of it. And I know a lot of podcasters, some of them are my friends that will record an episode today to put out tomorrow. And then they don't have anything for next week. And you're just constantly playing catch-up. And I feel like if you miss one week, it's easy to then miss two and then you miss three. It's the same with workouts. You miss one, you miss two. You miss a week. You miss two. Eat a donut. You eat a what? You eat a piece of pizza. What? You drink a bear. What? And then you end up down this spiral of like, I was so easy to not do it that it's so hard to start back up. So I think, and this is something that I,
Starting point is 01:09:02 I'll be talking about it Pod Summit this weekend, but consistency is the absolute key to anything in life, but surely to content creation and podcasting as well. And that is our last question on Ask CVV number 49, the knuckleball edition of Ask CVV. Thank you for all of the great questions that you sent in on the Tim Wakefield, Charlie Huff, and Tom Candiotti edition of this one, if you have a question for Ask CVV number 50, leave a comment on Spotify. Let's get up to more than 100 comments
Starting point is 01:09:40 on this particular Spotify episode, and then maybe we can make it a goal in a few months that every single episode has 100 comments on it. But let's specifically try to absolutely blow 100 comments out of the water. So if you're still listening right now, an hour plus into an Ask CVV episode, my goodness, I appreciate you. And it's been so good hanging out with you on this Friday.
Starting point is 01:10:06 I'll leave you with this quote from Thomas Jefferson. It's one of my favorite quotes of all time because it's so easy to hear people say, oh man, like you hear this with L.A. night so much. Oh, man, he's an overnight sensation. Oh, man, he got lucky. Thomas Jefferson said it best. I'm a great believer in luck. And I find the harder I work, the more of it I have.
Starting point is 01:10:28 Isn't that great? Because people don't see the hard work that you put in to get that lucky break, to get that opportunity. Yeah, I'm a great believer in luck. I find the harder I work, the more of it that I have. Be great. Be grateful, my friends. Have a great weekend.
Starting point is 01:10:46 We will see you on the next one for some more insight. Ethan Page Tuesday. Sean Spears on Thursday. Hopefully no chops. Ooh. See you on Tuesday for that one. Hammer Alley podcast, an 80s flashback mockumentary. Back in the 80s, there were a thousand bands trying to make it in the world of rock,
Starting point is 01:11:07 but there was one band that had it all. Hammer Alley. Whatever happened to Hammer Alley? How did they go from top of the rock? I'm looking for a music video. They're a band from 1987, Hammer Alley. Ever heard of them? To Rock Bottom.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Dude, I was born in 1987. I can't believe he's doing this. Hammer Alley. Follow and listen on your favorite platform.
