Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Van Fleet.
Oh my goodness.
Welcome back, my friends, to another one here on Insight.
I'm CVV, Chris Van Fleet.
Thank you for being a real one and for hanging out with me on an AskCV episode on a Friday.
And thank you, as always, for helping to make Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet.
Hit a Canadian Destroyer on that following.
button wherever you're listening. And if you have an extra second or two this weekend, could you leave a
rating on Spotify or a review on Apple? They kind of hid the rating button on Spotify. A lot of people
have been like, I want to leave a rating. I just don't know where the button is. So if you go to the
main page for the show, you'll click the three little dots next to the follow button. And then
you'll see rate show when you click that. The stars will pop up. So I will thank you in advance for that.
The show just keeps growing, as you've seen.
The guests just keep getting bigger and bigger.
We've got quite literally, quite literally, if we're just talking about literal things,
the biggest guest on the show next week.
And I'll tell you at the end of the show who that is.
But I'm sure you're already thinking, oh, my gosh, I can't believe you got so-and-so.
Yes, I got them.
I got them in the studio.
And I can't wait.
I can't wait for this.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes.
What a day on.
Monday. Yes, my birthday is May 19th. Please don't tell Kane. We all know what happens when
Kane here is May 19th, but I got so many birthday wishes from you guys. So thank you for that.
It was an amazing day. Amazing day I spent with the family. I woke up, went to the gym.
I've been in this routine right now. It's been great. I get the gym time in before the kids wake up.
They wake up like right around six. So if I leave for the gym at 4.45, get the workout in,
get home. We're like, we're good to go for the day. I came back from the gym on Monday.
And my wife's just the best. Rachel is the absolute best. I love RVV. Of course.
Of course, I love her. She's my wife. But she is just the greatest human. Amazing. I came back and
she had created a Mission Impossible themed scavenger hunt around the house. And you guys know,
I have been so pumped to see Mission Impossible dead reckoning.
I've been talking about this for months.
I've watched the trailer an ungodly amount of times.
I'm just so impressed by the stunts that Tom Cruise has done in all of the Mission
Impossible movies.
This one hanging upside down on a plane that's like five feet above rocks in a river.
Crazy.
Crazy.
But I opened up my birthday card.
And then in it was like, this is your mission.
If you choose to accept it, this message will self-destruct and find.
seconds of like, oh my gosh. And then it had me going from like different parts, like from this part
of the house that led to another part of the house for another clue. That I led to another part of the
house for another clue. And at the end, there were tickets for opening night of Mission Impossible.
So as I'm recording this right now, it's Thursday evening. As soon as I'm done this, we're going
to the movies. And I can't wait. Yes, we're seeing it in an IMAX too. So I'm pumped.
We'll chat about it next week on Ask CVV.
Number 85, we'll all get together and give our thoughts about this.
But it was just awesome.
And if you're one of the people who sent me birthday wishes, whether it was a comment on Spotify,
a message on Instagram, an email, whatever it was, thank you.
You're the absolute best.
And you guys sure do know how to make a guy feel special.
So I appreciate that.
Welcome, my friends, to Ask CVV number 80.
for the Randy Moss, Sterling Sharp, and Antonio Brown edition.
Got a ton of questions this week.
So thank you for sending them all in.
If you've got a question for next week, Ask CVV number 85, the Ochosinko edition.
And of course, other people, you can let me know who else you loved that wore number 85.
Send it in by leaving a comment on Spotify.

Ask CVV. And I can't wait to see the real, real, real ones who are coming out to one of our live
shows that we've announced. The first one is Friday, June 6th in Los Angeles, the day before
Money in the Bank. We'll be announcing the guests for that, hopefully next week, just finalizing a few
things. But you've seen the guests we've had already for these live shows, so you know it's going to be
epic. Then our next live show after that is Friday, August 1st in New York City. It's the day before
the first ever two-day SummerSlam.
Those tickets are available at CVV-Tix.com,
CV-T-I-X.com.
And the VIP tickets include a special meet and greet
after the show.
We're also giving away some pretty cool raffle prizes.
I've given away a big gold at, I think, three of the shows.
And it's amazing.
Like, we've given out other prizes
and then we bring out the big gold.
Everyone gets jacked up about that.
Man, I didn't expect to leave this
as the champion. But if you see that the VIP tickets are available, grab them because they will
sell out. So can't wait to see you guys there. All right, let's dive in to ask CVV number 84.
We'll kick it off with this one from Charlie Smith on Spotify. Charlie says,
CBV, give us your picks for Saturday night's main event. I love that both titles are on the line.
I love the both titles are on the line as well. First of all, first of all.
I feel like we need to do this with every Saturday night's main event.
It is important to point out that this is not a PLE.
This is a television show that airs on NBC.
And people are always shocked or surprised by how many commercials are in this.
It's a TV show.
It's not a PLE.
The card might be stacked like it's a PLE,
but I think it's important to remember that this is a TV show.
We've got four matches, two hours.
I love the pacing of Saturday night's main event.
I don't feel like they cram too much into there.
I don't feel like they don't cram enough into it or don't put enough into it.
I feel like it's really good pacing.
It gives every match 20-ish, 20 to 30-ish minutes to do everything.
Entrances and tell the story and get back.
And then you've got the promos for the other matches or the promo packages for the other matches.
So let's start this one off.
with Damien Priest versus Drew McIntyre.
And they are going to go to war in a steel cage.
This, I think, is the only match on the card that's like a true coin flip.
Like this could really go either way.
But man, this one's going to be brutal.
This one is going to be intense.
And what I think is really interesting about this is either one of these guys could be inserted
right back into the world title picture, boom, immediately. And I think that that's what might happen
here. I think whoever wins this could slide themselves into the winner of Jay Uso versus Logan Paul,
which we'll get to in a second, or maybe even into the John Cena title picture. Like, you could,
either of them are right there at that spot. I don't know. I like, really, this one could go
either way. And I feel like maybe this could lead to another.
match between them, but if we're going to have to go with a winner here, and I think it largely
depends on what's next for both of these guys, I think we're going to go with Damien Priest.
But this is one of those where if it goes to Drew McIntyre, yeah, of course.
It makes a lot of sense to me.
The odds on my bookie have this real tight here.
Damian Priest is a slight favorite, but when we look at the odds for all the other matches,
they're like they've made it pretty clear who they think.
think is going to win. But yeah, Damian Priest's a slight favorite at MyBooky. Use the code
CVV when you sign up at MyBooky.ag, you'll get a 50% welcome bonus. So if you have a real
strong opinion about who you think's going to win, maybe get in on the action over there at MyBooky.
Then we're going to look at the tag team match, Seth Rollins and Bronbreaker taking on C.M. Punk
and Sammy Zane. And the real difference maker here, and he has been.
for years and years and years is Paul Heyman.
So I think with Paul Heyman in the mix here,
and this partnership with Seth Rollins and Bronbreaker
being so young, we're so early into it,
I don't feel like they can take a loss here.
So I go with Seth Rollins and Bronbreaker on this one.
The odds agree with me.
They're heavy favorites in this match.
But I just, I think that the bigger piece of this
is if Paul Heyman keeps,
suggesting that Rollins is the unequivocal new top guy in WWE, then they can't take a loss here.
So a win here for Bronbreaker and Seth Rollins levels them up a little bit more.
And I think that when we talk about people being slid right back into that world title picture,
I mean, you could put Seth Rollins in there at any point in time, right?
That's the great thing about Seth Rollins is anybody he works with, he makes them look like a million bucks.
So if they needed a contender, if they needed an opponent for someone like a J.U., so boom, you can give Seth
Rollins two minutes notice. He'll go in there and give you a banger. So I think it's Seth Rollins
and Bronbreaker winning this match, and then this continues to tell that story of this faction here.
And I know that there has been so much chatter online about who's the third member or even who's
the fourth member, if we're including Paul Heyman, you know, as a member of this group, not just like
the manager of these two guys. I don't think this is another iteration of evolution, which evolution
was just a new iteration of the four horsemen. I don't think it is. Maybe it ends up becoming that,
but it seems to me that this is just Paul Heyman branching out and becoming a Paul Heyman manager for two
Paul Heyman guys. That's what it seems like to me. I don't think that this is just Paul Hamon branching out and becoming a Paul Hamon manager for two Paul
Heyman guys. That's what it seems like to me. I don't think that this is a brand new faction. I've seen
people talk about, oh, this is a, this is a 2025 version of evolution. Maybe it's a cool idea that
we can talk about, but I don't think that's what's happening at all. And I think that as we
continue to see this play out, I think we're just going to see Paul Heyman asserting his dominance
like he always does. He has a pretty great track record when he's managing people.
Yeah, there's been some hiccups along the way.
But by and large, he has a pretty great track record.
And that's what I think we're going to see here is having his guys win by any means necessary.
Then we go on to Jayuso defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul.
Could Logan Paul be the World Heavyweight Champion one day?
Sure.
He absolutely could.
Will that happen on Saturday?
No.
I don't believe that it will.
I think the Jay Uso will win the match here.
I'm curious how.
Is this going to be a clean victory?
Is there going to be some shenanigans happening on the outside
that sets something up for later on here?
Does Gunther get involved in this match in some sort of way?
I don't know.
But I do know that in every match that Logan Paul has been in,
he's done something.
He's created a moment.
that has lived on and become the focal point of the match well beyond the scope of the match.
He's created these moments that people are talking about weeks later, months later.
Hell, some of them when you talk about that moment in the Royal Rumble with Rcochet,
sometimes even years later.
So I think that's what Logan Paul is going to do here with the title on the line.
But whether you like him or not, I do think that there is a path at some point in time,
for Logan Paul to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
I just don't think it's happening yet.
Then, our main event.
John Sina versus Our Truth,
and what's so interesting about this one
is that the title is not on the line.
So this is like,
they're truly setting this up as like,
this is good versus evil.
Everybody loves our truth.
How could you not love our truth?
And he's going up against his childhood hero.
It's so funny when you say that, right?
He's going up against his childhood hero, John Sina, who big, big time heal.
I mean, even though we appreciate John Sina, even though we are kind of secretly rooting
for John Sina because of just all the memories that he's created over the last 20 plus years,
John Sina's in this role right now where he's doing despicable things.
He's doing things that make us not like him.
He's also doing things, I don't think it's intentional, but he's doing things that I think
kind of make us question his legacy. Like, I think that up until these last few singles matches,
we're talking about Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, and then we're talking about Randy Orton
at backlash. I think people, like, had this idea in their mind of like the way that John Cena
wrestled. And then he wrestled those two matches. And I think a lot of people went,
that's not how I remember John Cena wrestling.
I don't remember him being such a boring wrestler.
I think there's a part of that where he is intentionally trying to wrestle like a heel
and a heel isn't as flashy as a baby face is.
I also think there might be a component of that where maybe he's lost,
I'm not saying he's lost a step.
Maybe he's lost a quarter of a step or an eighth of a step or one-sixteenth of a step,
which is also playing a factor in.
of that. And it's interesting that I think people are looking at this run going. He's not as
entertaining as I thought he would be. There's there should be more to this. I expected more.
That's what a lot of this is. The expectations. He's not meeting your expectations.
I think that he's going in and doing what a heel does. He's trying to get you to boo him by any means
necessary. I don't know if all of this is intentional. I don't know if the, like there's some people who
genuinely loved Sina their entire career. Now they've turned on him because they don't like the way
he's working now. I think that this will be short-lived, but it'll be very interesting to see how
this goes. The fact that the title is not on the line tells me that our truth has a chance.
Our truth is a massive, massive underdog when you look at the betting odds at my bookie.
But the fact that this isn't a title match is curious.
That's being done intentionally.
Why, though?
Why is that being done?
Maybe it's being done to facilitate the return of the American nightmare, Cody Rhodes.
We haven't seen Cody Rhodes since the end of night two of WrestleMania 41.
Could this be the opportunity for him to come back and then set up a match, maybe a money in the bank?
Maybe it sets up a match at SummerSlam.
this could be it. Maybe Cody comes out, costs John Cena the match. Oh my gosh, the upset of the year,
the upset of the decade. Our truth beats John Cena crazy. And then that sets up something for
Cody Rhodes and John Cena down the line. That's a possibility here. I just think that with the
title not being on the line, the opportunities here, the possibilities here, the possibilities here.
are endless. And I read somewhere that John Sina had handpicked his opponents for this entire
retirement tour. So we've had some pretty obvious ones so far. We've had Cody Rhodes. We've had
Randy Orden. I think we would have all had that on our list. Our truth was on that like,
oh man, that'd be like, it's on the wish list. That would have been on like the, it'd be nice.
Like there's some locks here. Like we're probably going to see a match with CM Punk. That one
feels obvious. But our truth was like, could you imagine, man, that'd be so cool if they did it.
Well, guys, they are doing it. It's happening. It's happening tomorrow. And I love this.
That means that our truth has the honor of being one of John Cena's very few opponents on his
retirement tour. We talked about it last week. He probably only has six to eight, possibly if you
stretch it out, 10 more matches. That's it. And I feel like we need to appreciate these as they're
happening because there will not be anymore after December. So for our truth to have the honor of wrestling
John Cena's retirement tour is incredible. What a feather in his cap. What a feather in his
already amazing Hall of Fame career. But this, I feel like, is a nice cherry on top. So there's my picks.
I would love to hear yours. Leave him in the comment.
if you're listening on Spotify.
And I like to point out that I did pretty good there on backlash.
I think I pointed out out last week,
but worth pointing out again that I feel like I've had a pretty solid track record here.

rus.com. Car gurus.com. Ian Williams emailed this one in. Hi, Chris, I'm in the middle of Smackdown
right now after Truth's interview with Wade, and I had a thought I needed to share. What if Truth
is the one who pulls Sina away from the dark side? Think about it. Truth is the one person
in the entire WWA universe who believes in Sina no matter what, even if to a fault. What if his
relentless, genuine positivity is what is able to remind John of who,
who he used to be. I feel like it would give a beautiful purpose to Truth's whole
Sina worship angle to be able to save John from himself during his final run and allow him to
retire as the man he truly is. I would love to see our truth take an unexpectedly important role
in Sina becoming a face again. What are your thoughts? Much love to you and yours, Ian.
I have said it many times before. I will continue to say it. I truly believe that John Sina's
not retiring as a heel. He's going to turn baby.
be faced at some point, I just don't know when. I don't think it's this weekend. That to me doesn't
make sense. That means he would have only wrestled two matches as a heel, two and a half months of
being a heel because he turned, turned heel on March 1st in Toronto at Elimination Chamber,
March 1st, right? That was just, that was off the top of my head. Yes, March 1st.
I don't think that his heel runs two and a half months.
So it would have been just, what, a half a dozen promos in two matches, or I guess three matches, including this one with Our Truth.
I think it continues on a little bit more.
Maybe, though, what Our Truth does as he plants a seed.
Plants a seed to remind Sina of what's inside of him.
This isn't really who he is.
He's not about this.
But like we talked about last week on Ask CVV,
John Cena had this moment at the end of backlash where it's, and I might be just reading into this a little bit too far, but after the match, he's looking at the championship and it's almost like he's thinking, was this all worth it?
Was this all worth it? Like, I turned against everything that I knew to be true to, A, win another match again, and B, become the 17 times.
champion, the last real champion.
And I feel like we're going to continue to see that.
It feels like a story arc that is building, this idea of like, am I better than this?
Do I need to do this to keep winning?
Because you think about it, John Cena hadn't won a match in seven years,
hadn't won a singles match on television in seven years.
And then he did.
He becomes a bad guy.
Not only does he win a match, he wins the championship.
So it's like the idea of like, ah, is it worth it?
And I feel like this match with our truth could allow him to continue to think about that.
Man, is it worth it?
Is this who I've become?
It's that quote from The Dark Night.
You either die a hero, you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
And John Seen even shared that photo of Tooface the day after he turned heel.
He knows.
He gets it.
But the biggest question with all of this, I guess there's two big questions when you think about
John Cena's run right now slash retirement tour is, one, how long does he remain heal?
Where does he become a baby face again?
How does he become a baby face again?
And then the other question is who's his final opponent?
I think that those two questions will be answered around the same time.
I feel like we'll start to see how this will unfold.
Because I don't feel like they're just going to spring his final opponent on us
like out of nowhere.
I feel like there's going to be a real build to this.
And I predicted last year incorrectly, by the way,
but I'm okay with being wrong.
Totally okay with admitting that.
I said that I thought his retirement tour was going to be like a Derek Jeter
slash Kobe Bryant retirement tour where he goes to the opposing stadiums,
the opposing arenas and the crowd loves him,
even though he plays for the opposing team,
how can you not respect a guy who plays the game
the way that Kobe Bryant does,
or a guy that plays the game the way that Derek Jeter does?
That's what I thought.
And I think that we will get to that.
I think that it will be all fanfare
going into John Cena's final match,
which I would imagine they'll be announcing relatively soon.
But I have a ton of responsibility.
for John Sina for pushing himself and seeing what he's capable of in his final year,
because it would have been so easy for him to just play the greatest hits, do all the things
that we are so accustomed to seeing John Sina do. But instead he pushed himself and he wanted
to see what he was capable of and see what he could do, see what the boundaries of this character
really were. And I think that that's really interesting. What's important to point out
is that there is an end date here.
And this is so rare in wrestling.
In wrestling, things can go on for years and years and years and years.
Here it can't.
Like, John Cena's run ends in December, no matter what.
And I don't, I've seen some whispers online of like, oh, man, wouldn't he be a real heel
if he told us he was going to retire in December, but he extended the retirement to her
because you can't believe anything that a heel says.
Yeah, I guess in theory, that makes sense.
But I don't think that's what's happening here.
So what's so unique about the situation is,
we know this is coming to an end in December.
So there's only so many months to tell so many stories
and to figure this whole thing out.
In the same way, I love to use the references of movies.
In the same way of like, when you go to the movies
and you know that the runtime is two hours, that's it.
They only have two hours to tell the story.
So you know that if you're three quarters of the way through the movie and we still haven't
had some questions answered, they haven't tied things up nicely with a bow, you know that
they will.
Because that, well, unless there's a sequel, but they will still, they will still tell
the story that this movie needs to tell.
And I think that that's the really fascinating thing here is we only have the rest of
of May, it's not much left, one more week of May, June, July, August, September, October,
November, and then into December. So there's only seven months left of this. It's a little more
than half a year. That's it. It has to end. So you've got a lot of stories that need to be
told in that time that can't be extended out. You know, if the crowd starts getting behind
something, you can't just, you could, you can pivot, but it can't be a pivot that lasts a few
months. It has to be a pivot that like we tell the story and then we move on to whatever the next part of
that is. And that's what I find really, really interesting about this, which leads us into this
question from Joseph Dudding, who emailed this one in. Hey, Chris, most of the world outside the
US can watch WWE shows live on Netflix over here in New Zealand. Saturday night's main event is on
YouTube. Well, hello from New Zealand, or to New Zealand, by the way. Rumors are John seen his last
match will be on Saturday night's main event. Surely if WWE
wants millions to tune in, then it will be a PLE. What are your thoughts unseen as last match?
Thank you, Joseph. So if it is a PLE, it's going to be a brand new PLE that they create because
you and I both know that the last PLE on the calendar every year is Survivor Series,
which is Thanksgiving weekend in America. So the last weekend or the fourth Thursday of November.
That's where Thanksgiving falls.
So if it's going to be a PLE, they have to create a whole new event, which would make sense.
It would totally make sense to do that.
And I think that with the way that WWE is right now and the way that TCO is handling business
and handling operations would make sense for them to create this as a completely special event,
especially with the partnership that they have with Netflix.
And you think about how Netflix has been treating live events over the last,
year or two with things, live events like Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson or live events like the
roast of Tom Brady. I think that whatever this event ends up being, it will be going to the
highest bidder. So whoever is willing to spend the most amount of money to make this thing happen,
that's where this is going to air. Whether that's on Netflix, which I agree makes a ton of sense.
is available in almost every country worldwide, whether this is a Saturday night's main event.
And then you get into some interesting territory there because airs on NBC here in the U.S.
airs in different places around the rest of the world.
But whatever this is, I think the focus will be on John Sina's last match.
So maybe they call the event John Sina's last match.
like that would make a ton of sense.
I heard early rumors that it was going to be called ruthless aggression.
I love the idea of that, bringing it around full circle.
John Cena hasn't really said much about ruthless aggression in a long time,
so I don't know if that's what it's going to be called.
But they could do this as John Cena's last match like they did for Rick Flair's last match.
But it's going to be a star-studded event.
I feel like tickets are going to be difficult to get for this.
because if everything that I'm hearing is true,
is it's going to be an arena show.
So 16, 18,000 people, that's it.
It isn't going to be like a stadium show
where you're going to be one of 50 or 60
or 70,000 or 70,000 people in there.
But Boston, December,
that one certainly makes a lot of sense to me.
But I agree with you, Joseph.
It should be put out to an audience
where as many people can see this as possible.
Netflix makes a ton of sense for this. And Netflix has been going all in on these massive live
events. This would be another opportunity for them to do the same. Wrestling Only World on Instagram sent
this one in. And Wrestling Only World has made some fantastic edits from my interviews. So thank you for that.
You're awesome. I have a question for the next Ask CVV. How many May 19th jokes did you receive on
your birthday. That number has to be astronomical. Yeah, a lot. And it's great. I love it.
There are not too many other specific dates in wrestling like that that are so meaningful. But if you
are a hardcore wrestling fan and you are around a certain age, or you've really just studied up,
you know, maybe you're, maybe you're only in your 20s, but you've gone back and you've watched some stuff,
you know all about May 19th. So I got a ton of May 19th jokes. I love it. Keep it coming. Someone
actually turned into a meme. It was like, let me see if I can pull this up. It's Kane looking like
Mary Jacobs, like looking all nice and smiley, wearing a suit. And it says, happy birthday, Chris. And then the
bottom part of it is Kane, hell, fire and brimstone, fire burning behind him. And it says,
it's May 19th.
I love it.
So thank you to at tweets of
Harry, who made that.
What a great meme.
You are a legend for making that.
And thank you again for all the birthday wishes.
Tyler Shields emailed this one and said,
Hey, Chris, I became a diehard wrestling fan
in October of last year.
I had heard about wrestling before,
but I wasn't obsessed with it as much as I am now.
My first match I ever watched when I was four years old was the 2006 Royal Rumble, and my favorite quickly became Ray Mysterio.
I liked him because his name was Mysterio, who I associated with the Spider-Man villain of the same name.
My question for you is, how long do you think Ray Mysterio has left in his career?
After that injury the night before WrestleMania, I hope he can still wrestle for a year or two, so we might see Dom reconcile with his dad and do a face turn.
I found your podcast shortly after I became a huge fan of wrestling, and you've increased my love.
for it. Thank you. Happy birthday. And I wish the best for you and your family, Tyler.
Thank you, Tyler. You're awesome. And Ray Mysterio is awesome. And I feel for him for not being
able to have that WrestleMania moment this year. And I know that there was some, a lot of questions
about what El Grande Americano was going to do because the build had been to that match between
Luchador and Luchador. And I thought that WVE did a fantastic job of
pivoting and giving us an amazing last-minute match between Ray Phoenix and El Grande
Americana. I hope we find out who he is. I hope he gets, I just, we got to figure out who is
his identity is. What his identity is? But I don't think we have much longer of Reimisterio.
I will say, I did see him WrestleMania weekend, and he was moving about okay. It was a groin injury,
like obviously so bad that he couldn't wrestle,
but he was moving around okay,
he was limping a little bit,
but he was moving around okay.
But I think that with any injury,
especially as you get a little bit older,
it's scary because it starts to make you question,
can you keep doing this?
If you can keep doing this,
how much longer can you keep doing this?
I would think he only has just a few years left.
He turned 50 this year.
There was actually a point at WrestleMania 39,
when it was Dom versus Ray.
I was convinced that they were just quietly making that Ray's retirement match.
I thought for sure that Dom was going to win and Ray was going to hang him up.
That was it.
Instead, Ray won and Ray has been continuing to do what Ray does in the ring.
But I saw this meme on Instagram and it was like Ray Mysterio has been wrestling this long
and it showed his first video game appearance in W.
WCWNWA mayhem for PlayStation
PlayStation 1997 and then it showed him in 2K25
and it's like man like wild.
And of course, the whole point of the meme
is you see how bad the graphics were then
and how realistic they look now.
But this just makes me think about
how short our time is with so many greats.
Like there's so many people who have either said they're retiring
like John Sina, who we know is retiring in December.
AJ Stiles turns 48 on June 2nd of this year.
He told me during our interview,
he doesn't want to wrestle past 40,
or sorry, 50.
So that means we only have two years left of AJ Stiles.
Like, we need to appreciate what we're getting out there.
Like some of the absolute best wrestlers,
like future Hall of Famers,
only have a few years left.
Roman Raines has talked about how it's only a few more years for him
and he wants to start doing some things that maybe aren't so taxing on his body.
He was just announced, can you see this?
He was just announced that he's going to be part of the new street fighter movie.
And he's in the movie with Jason Mamoa, who when I talked to Jason Mamoa years ago for Aquaman,
I was like, you know, people think you and Roman look alike.
It's true.
Like, they look pretty similar.
Maybe they're playing brothers or something like that in this movie.
That'd be so cool to see.
But, you know, there's three people right there.
John Cena, AJ Styles, Roman, who have made it clear.
They don't want to do this that much longer.
Randy Orton almost didn't come back from the back surgery that he had and the issues
that he was having there.
He's 45 years old.
Seamus is 47.
He told me during our interview that he signed a new five-year deal.
That's going to take him into his 50s.
He wants to wrestle till the wheels fall off.
But there's another future Hall of Famer.
It's like, well, how many more years do we have?
At least, four and a half.
But then what?
CM Punk is 46. And I'm not saying that any of these guys here are planning to retire,
but also think about this. Drew McIntyre turns 40 this year.
Cody Rhodes turns 40 this year. Seth Rollins turns 40 this year. Penta just turned 40.
Damian Priest turns 43. L.A. Knight turns 43. The Miz turns 45.
Finn Baller turned 45. Sinnke just turned 44. Shinke just turned 45. Kofi Kingston
turns 44 and of course our truth is 53 but he's aging in reverse so I feel like he doesn't
count and with his comedy stuff he could just keep doing what he's doing the point of this is
if if you've been watching for a while a lot of the people who you loved when you were younger
have a lot more years behind them than they do in front of them and in thinking that and in saying
that out loud right now, it makes me appreciate those people that much more. We're seeing a whole new
crop that's starting to come up now. Men and women whose ages begin with a two. We're starting to see
them coming into this. And I think that we're starting to see some future stars, some like some amazing
stuff with some people who we've already mentioned some names on here who we'll be talking about as
champions in a few years like Bronn Breaker or Dominic Mysterio.
and there's many others, but those are two that immediately come to mind.
It just makes me appreciate some of our legends who have been doing this 20 plus years.
It just makes me appreciate them just that much more.
Alex on Spotify says, hey, Chris, I hear you on the overuse of the This Is Awesome chant.
I think they're far too frequent these days.
I have a simple suggestion.
Let's have a, that was awesome chant after a great sequence or combo or move, etc.
You could even have the holy S-H-I-T chant for crazy moments.
But that was awesome as for a great sequence of the match because I feel like most of the time
it's just that the crowd really like that particular 15 seconds and they want to do more than
just clap.
And I get it.
And there's a real excitement of being in the crowd and like seeing this unfold in front of you.
And I think that saying that was awesome, chanting that was awesome, is simply just an appreciation.
And I think that maybe in my own mind, I,
have reserved the That is Awesome Chan or This Is Awesome Chant for the best match of the night.
But how can you really judge the best match of the night as it's happening?
Because if you're in match three of five or you're match two of five and things are quite
awesome in front of you, why not?
And the other thing about being in a live show is you've just got that crowd mentality of
like if the crowd starts to surge up around you and they're all chanting one thing,
it's hard not to just join in on it.
I love a good This Is Awesome chant.
I also love the coordinated.
That's one of my favorite things about this is awesome chant or any sports chant for that
matter.
But I think that there's some other chance I think might even be beyond.
This is awesome.
Because they're so rare that you don't hear them very often.
And when you do, you go, huh?
that really is special that the crowd looked for something else to say other than
this is awesome like when you hear fight forever fight forever
like we don't want this match to end it's so good one of my other favorites and i don't know
how many times it's been done i can only think of maybe one or two like it's it's a rare chant
There's a rare chant.
Both these guys.
Both these guys.
Both these guys.
Yeah.
Those to me,
if we are having a hierarchy of chance,
those two are at the top of the list.
They're above.
This is Awesome.
I love a good This is Awesome chant.
What I was saying was the crowd was hot in St. Louis.
I don't know if it came across that way on TV.
Like sometimes that's the case.
Like I remember going to,
we're going to summer.
slam in Detroit. And it was loud in there. I'll give you another example. Raw Netflix,
the debut in L.A. at the Intuit Dome. It was loud in there, like, loud. And I saw so many comments
online that the crowd was dead. I don't like, did they, was the crowd not miced well? Was the
sound going up and not into the mics? Like, was it just going up and getting lost in the ceiling?
But he was loud. It was loud in both of those spaces.
thoughts. And then I saw so many people online being like, oh, the crowd sucked. So the point I was
trying to make about backlash in St. Louis was the crowd was on fire. And I just don't know if it read
like that when you were watching it on TV because the crowd was great. But fight forever,
both these guys. Tyler Orobone on Facebook, we saw a glimpse of Chris Sharp last weekend with the
rock bottom that you did. Do you think you'd ever have a lot of.
a match. Yeah, I did a rock bottom. I don't know if you've seen the clip online yet, but I was at
ACW in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Hornswoggle runs ACW. I had an absolute blast there. What a
professionally run company. And it was so good meeting so many of you there before and after the
show. But I had a little segment there with a guy named Brock Hall. And it was fun because I was
fun because I went out to the ring. I was the host of the show. So I went out. I was thanking the crowd.
We're having a good time. I brought out the legendary Santino Morella. Santino Marella.
It's so funny walking around with him. And people won't say, hey, Santino or hi, Santino
Morella. Everybody greets him by just going, a sentino Marcella. Santino Marce. So I'm in the
ring with Santino. He cuts a fun promo. We're having this just great moment. Also, I'm pinching
myself, like, how am I in the ring with Santino Morella right now doing a segment? This is crazy.
Brock Hall comes out. What a gimmick he has. He comes out to hanging tough by new kids on the
vlog. And the crowd sings, oh, Brock Hall sucks. So the music stops and not unlike when the music
stops for Chris Jericho or the music stops for like Seth Rawlins. The crowd continues to sing.
Brock Hall sucks. So we have this fun segment where I'm saying, hey, man, I know who you are.
Yeah, I know exactly who you are. You're that guy who sucks. The crowd love that. So we go back and forth,
back and forth. I don't suck. Yes, you suck. And then he keeps pushing me around. And look, I'm not a
trained wrestler. I'm not trying to compete. But I said, look, I will stand up for myself.
I'm a husband, I'm a father, but most importantly, I'm a man.
I pushed him back hard.
He almost fell down.
And then he turns around.
And he swings on me.
I saw it at the very last second.
I duck out of that.
I caught him.
Caught him.
Looked around.
And then I hit him with the rock bottom.
And if you've seen the clip,
I'm very proud of this.
I wasn't sure it was going to work out or not.
I sprung right back up onto my feet.
And like that, that's hit or miss.
Because you try to do that.
And if you stumble, you know, you're just going to end up looking like an idiot.
But I'm grateful for the way that that played out.
And then also what you didn't see, the full clips out there.
But if you just saw the short clip on my YouTube or Instagram or Facebook, what happens after
that is then Santino hits him with a cobra. Ha, so fun. So I think that that's probably the
furthest you'll see me work in a match. I don't think, look, Chris Sharp came out for like 10 seconds,
but that's it. I don't think I just turned 42. I feel great. There's nothing I can't do at 42 that I
couldn't do at 22. And I love that. But I don't think that number one, have the time right now.
to get trained while we have a two-year-old and a five-month-old at home and the amount of travel
I've been doing recently. So that's number one. And number two, I know that if I had a great
opponent, they would carry me through the match and make me look like I knew what I was doing.
But the reality of this is I don't know what I'm doing. And it would take me a lot of time
to figure out all of the nuances that go into having a great wrestling match.
And I don't want to go out there and just have an okay wrestling match.
I want to go out there and have an amazing wrestling match.
And I know that's setting the bar really high.
But I think that, and look, perfection is not attainable.
But when you chase perfection, you can achieve greatness.
And that is me summing up a very,
Vince Lombardi quote.
But I think that I'd be chasing perfection.
And I don't think that it's definitely not possible.
So I don't, I don't think it's happening anytime soon.
But if someone pushed me far enough, like if, if someone like really made me mad enough that I feel like we had to settle it in the ring, never say never.
It could happen.
But who knows?
Jonathan Parker on Instagram says,
Hey, CVV, still loving your work
and look forward to your podcast each week.
My latest question for Ask CVV is this.
If you could interview a wrestler who is no longer with us,
which one would you choose and why?
Keep smashing it and keep bringing the positivity.
My answer to this question is always the same.
Eddie Guerrero.
I would love to have a conversation with Eddie Guerrero,
whether that's the conversation of like me getting into that delorean going 88 miles an hour
and going back in time to the mid 2000s and having conversation with him then, that'd be amazing.
Or if Eddie was still with us now to be able to have a conversation of everything that has transpired
since his tragic passing, that'd be amazing.
But Eddie, like I think about all the time.
Eddie left us at 39 years old.
And you've probably heard me say this before.
when I turned 39 and also when I turned 40 I went man I've been here longer than Eddie so I got to
experience more years here more opportunities to do more things and I think about how like if you
left us at 39 years old there was just so much more life to be lived so Eddie is at the top of my
list that answer will never change there's of course a lot of other people I would love to have a
conversation with, but Eddie's number one for me. This one's an email from Jesus Contreras. Hey, Chris,
Jesus here. A real, real one. My question for you is a what if moment. What if Mr. Kennedy actually
cashed in Money in the Bank instead of Edge. It's been a thought of how to my mind for a while.
Love your show and looking forward to seeing you in Los Angeles at Money of the Bank and at your
live show. Blessings to you and your beautiful family. I look forward to seeing you, my friend, on June 6th, at the
Hollywood Improv for Insight Live. I loved the conversation that I had with Mr. Kennedy, Ken Kennedy,
Ken Anderson, whatever you want to call him. I loved how open he was, how vulnerable he was,
how he talked about everything in his career. And the thing that struck me the most was how he took
ownership for all of the things that happened. It'd be so easy for him to blame other people
for things that didn't go his way. Instead, he took ownership for it. And that,
That is such a mature move.
That is such a self-reflective thing to be able to do.
And it is not easy at all.
It was so, it's just incredible to see.
If Mr. Kennedy hadn't had this misdiagnosed tricep injury.
And if you haven't listened to the episode yet, I highly encourage you to.
It's such a great conversation.
But he talks about how after winning the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 23.
So this is going back to April of 2007.
A few weeks later, he hurt his arm in a match and was immediately told, oh, man, sorry, you tore your
tricep. And then he flew to go get his tricep repaired. And the doctor was like, ah, he's like feeling
around in his arm. He's like, eh, that's not torn. You might have pulled it, but not torn. And he was
back in action a few weeks later. But it was too late. The office, WWE already had heard the news
that he had torn his tricep and they had moved on with the storyline. He dropped the money in the bank
briefcase to Edge. Edge later went on and cashed in on The Undertaker. And that was that. And I think that
if Mr. Kennedy hadn't been injured or if he had the actual injury that he did and it was diagnosed
correctly, I would have to think that he follows the path of that money in the bank briefcase.
So instead of Edge cashing in on The Undertaker, it's Mr. Kennedy.
cashing in on the Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. Mr. Kennedy becomes World
Heavyweight Champion, I would think it's not just once. He just had so much momentum behind him.
They had slapped a rocket ship to his back. And he was just, he was had so much popularity.
It reminds me, and we talked a little bit about it during the conversation. It reminds me of like
just the swell of support that L.A. Knight has.
last year. Like you go to an arena early. And yeah, you hear some woo, woo, woo, woo. But now you're hearing
yeah, yeah, yeah. And back then you were hearing Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy. There was just so much
support for him. And he was so great on the mic, so, so, over. I would think that he would have
Cashion on Undertaker became a World Heavyweight Champion there, would have gone on to win
other championships as well. But there were like two moments where his life could have gone in
completely different directions. And for whatever reason, they didn't. He was supposed to be
Vince McMahon's son. That was the original plan for that storyline. That's actually why he's Mr.
Kennedy, Vincent Kennedy McMahon. There was like a tip of the cap there to that.
That ended up falling apart for whatever reason.
And I feel like they didn't know what to do with the story.
So they ended up just going,
um, horn swoggle.
Yeah, yeah, we'll make it hornswoggle and just turn the whole thing into a joke.
It was that and also him with the money in the bank briefcase and the unfortunate timing of that injury.
But he, I said it during the episode that came out yesterday.
And I will continue to say it.
He's one of, if not the biggest what ifs in all of wrestling.
And he is so, so talented.
And I love that he's taking all of the knowledge that he has.
And he's passing it on to the next generation.
He has an incredible school in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis.
It's called the Academy.
Go check out his wrestling school, the academy, sopw.com,
the Academy School of Pro Wrestling.
dot com. Also, he gave out his phone number during the episode. He's like, yeah, yeah, call me.
Yeah, sure. I don't mind. It'll be good. So if you want, you can call him 507, 772, 2776. He probably
won't answer, but you can leave him a message. He actually texted me this morning. And he's like,
I woke up at 8 o'clock and I already had 20 messages from people. And then he messaged me a few hours later.
and he's like, now I'm getting a message every two minutes.
So give Ken a call.
Tell him that you appreciated what he did in the ring.
And tell him you listen to our episode.
I know that he would absolutely love that.
So I'll leave the number in the show notes again.
I left it in the show notes yesterday on that episode,
but I'll leave it in there again so you can see.
Elizabeth Brydenbach emailed this one in.
Hey, Chris, I just wanted to say,
What's up from a real, real one?
And yes, I absolutely stay.
until the end of every episode. And that's how you become a real, real one. It's that simple.
You're a real one if you listen to an Ask CVV episode and you tune in to just hang out me and you
on a Friday. And I get it. You know, if you want to tune in to listen to an interview with
Kurt Engel or Chris Jericho or Seth Rollins or John Sina or Christian Cage or someone, I get it.
Makes sense. But if you want to hang out just me and you on a Friday, that makes you a real one.
and if you stay till the end of an episode, that makes you a real, real, real one.
And if you come to a live show, you are now a real, real, real one.
There's levels to this.
Back to the question.
Your ability to create such a natural, engaging conversation with your guest is seriously top tier.
Some episodes leave me wishing they were longer.
I always find myself rooting for the women.
The women's evolution and wrestling has come such a long way.
And while it's still a male-dominated industry, it really does feel like things are shifting more
towards equality. I love seeing that reflected in your interviews. I know you mentioned that you don't
reveal upcoming guests until everything's wrapped, but just for fun, if you had a magic wand,
what women's wrestlers would be at the top of your dream guest list that you'd like to interview?
Who knows? Maybe one of them is listening and we'll reach out. The top of the list is Trish Stratis.
And I interviewed her briefly on the red carpet for the Iron Claw. And that was like October of 2023.
I've been going back and forth with her managers since.
So we're coming up on a year and a half and schedule is just having aligned.
She is at the very top of my list for so many reasons.
She's an absolute trailblazer in the industry.
And the fact that she's also from Toronto,
it just adds an extra layer to that.
So Trish is at the top of the list.
I haven't done a real full interview with Charlotte Flair.
I did a brief on with her for five minutes before wrestling.
Resonmania 39 in L.A., but she's another one.
I haven't had the chance to talk to her,
and I would absolutely love to break her entire career down.
I've done quite a few short interviews with Ria Ripley,
but never a full interview with Ria Ripley.
So sign me up for that one.
Man, this list is going to be so long.
It's not even going to be fair.
The Bella's,
I wanted to talk to the Bella twins together.
That one has yet to happen.
And how long is this list going to be?
be. I did an interview with Alexa Bliss like six, seven years ago, but I think it's time to have
her on like that interview was like 20 minutes and she's fantastic. I think it's, I'd love to
have her on for a full on long interview. And then Naomi and Bianca Bel Air. I mean, look,
there's so many. There's so, so many. But we'd be here all day if I'm listing them all. So there's
what, six names right there. And I think we've got the wheels in motion on. We've got the wheels in motion
new one or two of those. So I think maybe you'll see one of those happen at some point before the
end of the year. Mark Bryant on Spotify, do you reckon The Undertaker will ever write his own
biography about his life slash career? It would be a bestseller. I'm surprised it hasn't happened
yet. And I understand why it didn't happen while the Undertaker was active. But he's pulled the curtain
back so much with the one dead man show and then also with six feet under, his podcast,
which I still fingers crossed.
I hope that they picked that back up.
I thought that the work that Mark Callaway was doing
and his co-host Matt Lida was great.
And the conversations they were having with people,
I was tuned in every single week.
But because Mark Calloway,
it's so hard to just call him Mark,
because Taker has pulled the curtain back so much,
I think that it's just a matter of time.
He's still doing so much with WWE
and still doing so many different things
that are,
ways to market himself and to continue to push the business forward. I would be surprised if it
doesn't happen at some point in time. He's got such an amazing story when you go all the way
back to the beginning. And it's just a case of right place, right time, most importantly,
right person. Vince McMahon just gave him the gimmick. And he took it and ran with it. And I think
that that's a one and a million type of thing where you give that gimmick to 99,
9,99 other people and it doesn't work. But for whatever reason, he made it work and he lived the
gimmick. And there's something to be said there, even if you're not in pro wrestling, even if you
don't work in the entertainment business, there's something to be said there about like taking what
you've got and making the absolute best out of it. So I would love to see that. There are two
biographies that are on the way that have been announced. You can pre-buy their book.
book. The books are available for presale. Carrying Cross has a book coming out in August called
Life is Fighting. I have read it already. He gave me an early copy of it. Man, it is powerful.
And man, what a story he has. And what's really interesting about it is he wrote this
before the swell of support around him. So, man, what a great story. So that.
That one comes out August 5th, I believe it is.
You can go pre-order that one.
And then Natalia has a book coming out called The Last Heartbeating.
And that one comes out in October.
I haven't read that one yet.
I can't wait to read that one and dive more into her story.
But just talk about just a relentless pursuit.
That's what Natalia is all about.
So there are those two biographies.
I highly, highly recommend you to.
to go pre-order them now so that the day they come out, you've got them.
And who knows?
Maybe we'll see one from The Undertaker at some point soon.
Hunter Quillen wrote this one in on Instagram.
For the Randy Moss edition of Asked CVV,
if you could pick one ruthless aggression era wrestler to be inserted into today's
WWE, who would it be?
So if we could take a ruthless aggression wrestler,
pluck them out of 2005, six,
and put them into WWE now, who would it be?
And this is a thing.
We're not taking the, they're not taking them,
we're taking them in that time.
We're not taking them 20 years later.
We're taking them in that time in their prime.
The answer for me is Kurt Angle.
And like the work that Kurt Angle did in TNA,
I think is often overlooked by people who maybe weren't watching TNA at that time
or maybe by people who just don't watch TNA period.
But Kurt Angle has said this many times.
He said it recently when he was on my show.
The best work of his career was done in TNA.
And yeah, we got amazing stuff from Kurt Engel all the way up into the point of him leaving
for TNA in 2006.
But then his best work, his best work was done in TNA.
And I always see these videos online of like the fun facts that sounds so crazy they
couldn't be real.
But Kurt Angle spent more time in TNA than he did in WWE.
And there were just so many matches that we could have had from him.
him 2007 onward in WWE. But you think about the matches that he could have now. Like,
oh, man, I'm going to obviously miss a whole bunch of names here. But Kurt Engle versus Seth
Rollins would be just amazing. Kurt Engle versus Cody Rhodes. Kurt Engel versus Dominic Mysterio.
Kurt Angle versus Chad Gable. Be like looking in a mirror. Kurt Engel versus Braun Breaker.
give me all of it.
Like that would be so good.
So Kurt Engel's my answer.
Eddie Guerrera would also be great,
but Kurt Angle is the answer.
That's the one I would just love to see.
This one's from Alex,
indelibly marked on Instagram.
Hey, CVV, here's my question
for the Randy Moss edition of AskCV.
From a real, real one,
your podcast is my favorite,
and I tune in religiously
for every episode every week.
So imagine the podcast,
pop I had when I saw you in a recent episode of WWE's greatest moments on A&E talking about the
greatest money in the bank cash-ins. Is that something that we'll be seeing more from you in the future?
If so, that would be awesome. Congrats on all the success and can't wait until the next episode.
I was blown away when I saw this, Alex. I didn't know those episodes were already airing.
We filmed that a month ago during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas. I got asked like super last minute,
hey, do you have any time? Could you film some of these things for A&A? And I'm like, uh, yeah,
of course I could. What an honor. So we filmed a bunch. So you saw the money in the bank
cash in one. We also talked about John Cena's greatest moments, Kevin Owen's greatest moments,
the best might drop moments, the women's revolution. There were so many different things. So I
imagine that I'm a teeny, tiny little part of quite a few different episodes. So I need to start
DVR in the show now, WWE's greatest moments on A&E. But what an honor to be able to add my two cents
to these moments. And I imagine I haven't seen it. In fact, if you have seen this or if you do happen to see
it, please, could you take a screenshot and tag me on Instagram or tag me on X? Because I haven't
seen it. And I would, I'd just love to be able to see it. I don't know if my wife believes that I was
actually part of this or not. We took some behind the scenes photos.
But I don't know if she's like, yeah, no, just joke.
I'm sure she believes me.
But it would be, it'd be cool to just see it.
So if you stumble across it, please snap a screenshot so I can see it as well.
It was cool.
And yeah, maybe there'll be more.
Who knows?
Who knows?
But appreciate you reaching out about that, Alex.
And that, my friends, that's the final question here.

Jim Rome takes on sports.
Why?
Because I have a job to do.
With rapid fire takes.
So I don't want to hear from you lava pigs on this notion today.
No idea what you're talking about.
You're complaining more than you like to breathe air.
It's like you get up in the morning only to complain and cry.
and moan on social media about things that you don't even understand.
He's the spitfire of sports smack.
Take advantage of it, but get up in here.
