If you're listening on Apple, could you scroll all the way to the bottom and leave a review on there? Both of those would help so, so much. I don't want you to miss out on any of the big interviews that we have coming up. Like the one I'm recording tomorrow. I'm in Knoxville, Tennessee right now, and I'm sure you can connect the dots together and figure out who I'm interviewing. in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:01:16 But since it hasn't happened yet, I don't want to jinx myself here and tell you all about it in case for whatever reason it falls through. But I've clearly already said too much. But you know it's going to be such a good one. I can't wait for you to hear that. If everything goes to plan,
Starting point is 00:01:37 that will be next Thursday's episode. So remember, on Wednesday, when I do the, like, hey, tomorrow on the show, it's so-and-so, just remember this exact moment, all right? Because this is an interview I've been wanting to do for a long, long, long time. And speaking of interviews that I've been wanting to do for a long time, or just live shows in general, tonight is Insight Live in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:02:07 What a way to kick off Money in the Bank weekend. Insight Live with special guest, a dear friend of mine, Ethan Page. Very few tickets remaining. So if you live in or around L.A., if you don't have anything to do tonight, well, I would love to see you there at the Hollywood Improv. Get those tickets at CVVTX.com. CVVTX.com. Also, if you're going to be in SummerSlam, at SummerSlam, or if you're going to be in
Starting point is 00:02:31 the New York, New Jersey area, August 1st, we're doing a show before SummerSlam. We'll be announcing the guest probably in the next month. or so, but grab those tickets while they're still available as well. Welcome, my friends, to Ask CVV number 86, the Heinz Ward, Zacherts, and Antonio Freeman edition. If you've got a question for next week for Ask CVV number 87, famously worn by quite a few tight ends. If you've got a question for that one, you know what to do. Leave a comment on Spotify, sending it on social media using that hashtag ask CVV or shoot me an email CVV at chris van vleet.com. We're going to dive into this one with the question that has been on everyone's mind all week.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I got a ton of messages about this, but this email from Chris Westrup kind of sums it up best here. He says, hey Chris, you've never met a Chris you didn't like. Well, what about a Chris that has a 16-month-old son named Cooper. Amazing. My five-month-old son is named Cooper. Love that. Real, real one here in MPLS. Been watching wrestling since my parents had put me in front of the TV when I was on a swing. Question, and really the only question to ask this week, what do you think about the release of Our Truth and Carlito? I don't remember this much wrestler outpouring of love for someone being released and fan support. I'm with you, Chris.
Starting point is 00:04:08 I didn't think it was real. When this news was announced on Sunday, I thought that this was just a bit. And it would be so fitting, right? This is exactly something that our truth would do. It would be the equivalent to bringing a ladder out in the middle of the Royal Rumble. Like, I just thought that this was a bit, a joke,
Starting point is 00:04:31 and then it wasn't. And the reports started coming out that no, this is legit. And I just don't understand it. I am absolutely in shock, even still. I mean, just a week before that, just eight days before that, he wrestled John Sina at Saturday Night's main event.
Starting point is 00:04:53 I guess Ron Sina wrestled John Sina in such a, what a memorable entrance. You could see John Sina just fighting for his life to not break character. a fun match. There is so much history there. And then eight days later, he's released. No one wanted this.
Starting point is 00:05:16 That's the thing. There was not one fan that looked at the roster and said, you know who shouldn't be here anymore? You know who they should get rid of? Our truth, that's who they should get rid of. I just don't get it. Truth was one of the most consistently entertaining wrestlers on the roster. whether it was in a match, whether it was a backstage segment, whether it was a promo in the ring,
Starting point is 00:05:42 whether it was like a sponsorship segment, always entertaining. And he's a locker room leader. Like look at the outpouring of love on social media after the news came out. Our truth is beloved by all. This is a bad decision. Like I think that goes without saying, like this is a bad decision. Our truth is the type of guy who's just such a great ambassador for WWE. He's the type of person that you could have him out there doing whatever, and it's going to be memorable. Yeah, he's 53, but he looks like he's 33. I feel like he could wrestle for another 10 years with the style of wrestling that he does.
Starting point is 00:06:31 I just, I can't believe this. So you heard that we want truth chance on Raw on Monday. If you feel the way that you feel about this, you can't let those chants stop. You need to, if you're going to Raw, if you're going to Smackdown, if I'll see you at Money in the Bank tomorrow, you need to have your voice be heard.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Because what so often happens is, there's outrage online for a few days or a week. And then the way the news cycle goes, you just kind of move on to whatever the next thing is, the next shiny object, the next news story of the day or the week. If you are truly as outraged as you seem to be, if you are as upset as some of these tweets
Starting point is 00:07:27 and these posts on social media that I've seen, you can't let up then. You just can't move on to whatever the next thing is. They chanted CM Punk's name for over a decade, and there was no hope of him coming back until he came back. But they were chanting his name when he was in AEW. Like there was, there was no hope of this happening. And I think one of the biggest things that when it comes to just wrestler release in general, and we're still specifically talking about our truth here, I was also shocked about Carlito.
Starting point is 00:08:03 So, well, let's spend a little bit of time talking about that one. The thing that both Carlito and Our Truth brought was levity. They brought the humor. And with both of them gone, there's really no one that's in that role. Sure, there's other people that can do funny things. But there's no one that like every single time you saw them on camera, you knew you were in for a laugh. You knew you were in for just good entertainment. And I think that the reception that Carlito got when he made his return to WWE in Puerto Rico,
Starting point is 00:08:39 and he wasn't signed, by the way. He told that story when he was my live guest at the Royal Rumble in Indianapolis. He wasn't signed. He's brought him there for a one-off. He got an insane reaction from that backlash crowd in Puerto Rico. And then they kept him around a little bit longer. And it just made sense to sign him. He just brought so much fun to the judgment day.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Like it gave the judgment day an extra layer. So for them to not renew Carlito's contract, it's surprising. But the tweet he sent out was, it was just so much fun. Like it's just trademark Carlito. He says, my contract is up in two weeks. It will not be renewed. On top of that, WWE is demanding that I pay the money back that they paid me for apparently stealing money from the company.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I've had my lawyers look into it, and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past month, they suggest that now this tweet has been cut off here, but just like, just a fun way to go, hey, yeah, this sucks, but it's all right. I'm dealing with it. They suggested that I pay them back the money. All jokes aside, Gracious, WWE, and especially the WWE universe. P.S., I'll reappear again in another 13 years. just 13 years from when he was released last time to when he came back.
Starting point is 00:10:01 But what a great way to handle it with grace. But there is now a big empty hole in WWE. That spot, that comedy spot, you're not only taking one of the greatest of all time in a comedy role, in a comedy role in Our Truth. But then you're taking the other comedic wrestler Carlito away. And I just, I can't understand this. Like, our truth is the guy that put him on a legends contract.
Starting point is 00:10:35 And who knows, maybe he is on a legends contract and that hasn't been announced yet. But I can't see our truth not being involved in WWE in some sort of way. I put him on a legend's contract. Have him be the guy who's at community events or have him be the guy who's walking the red carpet. just a W.W.E. representative in the community, like similar, perhaps, to what Titus O'Neill does. Just have him still be around. And we don't know the full story, which is so often the case with any sort of news in wrestling, but we don't know the full story here. And sure, we can speculate wildly, but all we'd be doing is speculating. But if we look at the cold, hard facts here,
Starting point is 00:11:22 our truth and Carlito not with the company anymore and it seems like nobody thinks this is a good idea except for whoever it was in TKO that crunched the numbers and went well you know what we could save ourselves a tiny little bit of money if we get rid of these two extremely popular well-liked individuals so yeah make the call and make it happen but when it comes to these releases and I think about this all the time, not just specifically with Truth and Carlito, but any releases in general. Don't just send out a tweet with a sad face emoji and like, oh, man, I'm so bummed that they're gone. Support the talent. Like, support them. When Ron Killings' new country album comes out, buy it. Like, don't just be a fan of Our Truth when he's in WWE. Are you a fan of Our Truth or not?
Starting point is 00:12:18 Are you a fan of the man, Ron Killings, or not? Buy his album when it comes out. If he happens to show up in TNA or AW or somewhere else, watch. You can't say you're bummed out and complain about it and then not support the actual individual. I think that gets so lost in this. We all know there is life and wrestling that exists outside of WWE. If you were a fan of our truth,
Starting point is 00:12:48 you'll be a fan of all of the other things that he does. If you were a fan of Carlito, you'll be a fan of all of the other things he does and all of the other places that it goes. And I think that this can't be reiterated enough when someone is released. Don't just support them because they were on WWE. Support them.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Buy their merch, download their album, go to their autograph signing, whatever it happens to be, like support them. And I think that that's such a, a big point that gets missed. These people still need to pursue their livelihood. Yeah, they've done pretty well and they've made a great career for themselves, but it doesn't just stop because they're not under contract with WWE anymore.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Support them. I think that that is the most important thing here. This episode is brought to you by prize picks. The basketball playoffs are wrapping up, but the action is still heating up. on prize picks. The best place to cash in on your favorite sports. Think Shea will get more than 30 points.

Starting point is 00:15:54 what is your boldest prediction for money in the bank? And does J. Uso get cashed in on during his match on Monday? All right, let's take a deep dive into these bold predictions for money in the bank. Let's start off with Lyra Valkyria, putting her WWE women's intercontinental championship on the line against Beculinche. we saw the fantastic match that they had at backlash. The stipulation with this one is that if Becky Lynch doesn't win, she can't challenge Lyra for that championship, for the Intercontinental Championship while she's the champion.
Starting point is 00:16:34 The odds on MyBooky have Becky Lynch is a big favorite for this one. And when you sign up at MyBooky, use my code. CVV, you'll get a very nice 50% welcome bonus. So it's MyBooky.ag. I'm going to agree with that. I think that this is going to kind of be one for one. So Lyra won the last one. I think Becky wins this one.
Starting point is 00:16:56 And then we really start to see Becky really sinking her teeth into this heel gimmick of hers. So I'm going with Becky Lynch on that one. Then we're going to go with, I'm going to leave the money in the bank matches for last. John Sina and Logan Paul versus Cody Rhodes and Jay Uso. If we're being honest here, a match that kind of popped up out of nowhere. One good thing that we get here is we've talked all year about who are John Cena's opponent's going to be, who's he going to mix it up with. I've been saying he probably only has, you know, eight-ish, give or take matches left this
Starting point is 00:17:35 year. The silver lining in this is we get to see John Cena in the ring with three people. Logan Paul being his partner here, we get to see him with Cody Rhodes again and also in there with the World Heavyweight Champion, Jay Uso. I really think this match could go either way. The odds slightly favored John Cena and Logan Paul, but there's no stakes in this match.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Like there's really nothing to lose for either team here. There's no championship on the line here. There's no stipulation of if this team wins, then you get a title shot later or whatever this happens to be. So this is a, I think, going to be a very entertaining match. I think it might be cooking up some more tension here with John Cena and Cody Rhodes. The last time that we saw them in the ring together was night two of WrestleMania. So I think that that's what this match is going to serve.
Starting point is 00:18:31 That's the purpose this match is going to serve is to cook things up a little bit more for John Cena and Cody Rhodes because I, I just feel like they have at least one more match. between the two of them. I'm going to go with, seriously, I should just grab a coin here and flip it. The odds favor John Sina and Logan Paul. I'm actually going to go with Cody Rhodes and Jay Uso here. And I think that it's going to continue that momentum. As Jay Uso has that match on Monday, like you mentioned, with Gunther, I don't think there's a cash in there to answer your other question. We'll get to that. in just a little bit here. The women's money in the bank ladder match.
Starting point is 00:19:17 We've got Naomi, Ria Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Alexa Bliss, Stephanie Vicar, and Julia. And the odds favor Naomi here. She's a minus 280. My gut tells me Ria Ripley. I don't think you put someone who's been so dominant over the last year or in a match like this and not expect her to win. I'm going with Ria Ripley on this, and I feel like Ria Ripley holds the briefcase
Starting point is 00:19:55 until Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, and then the roof will just blow off that place if Ria Ripley cashes in in her home country. So I'm going with Ria Ripley there, but I think you could look at like three or four, of these superstars being like real contenders here. Like you could give the briefcase to Alexa Bliss and she could just take this thing and run with it. And I don't feel like Alexa Bliss has been given a ton to work with since she's come back.
Starting point is 00:20:31 This would just set her off on a completely different path. I would love to see that. But I feel the same way about Naomi. Naomi has been doing the best work of her career. Amazing. I just something tells me that Ria Ripley with that cash in in Australia, just makes for such a great moment. Then we got the men's money in the bank ladder match.
Starting point is 00:20:55 This has got to be the main event. And I say that because if we are to buy into this, this idea, this rumor that El Grasne Americano and Chad Gable are, in fact, the same person, I'm not saying that they are, but I'm saying, come along on this ride with me. Just for the next 30 seconds, let's just pretend that that rumor is true. Chad Gable is in for a hell of a Saturday.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Because Chad Gable has a match against Vikingo earlier that day at Worlds Collide. You know that that is going to be just an absolute high-flying spectacle. Like, if you've ever seen any of Vikingo's work, Oh my gosh, buckle up. It's going to be so, so, so good. Stephanie Vakere also wrestling at Worlds Collide.
Starting point is 00:21:47 So the two arenas are close. The Kia Forum and the Intuit Dome are close, like walkable. They're like across the street from each other. That's not the concern here. But the fact that both of them are on the card earlier in the day, you know they're going to go all out. And then just a few hours later, they're going to be in a money-in-the-bank ladder match. incredible, just incredible.
Starting point is 00:22:13 So that's why I'm thinking that the men's money and the bank ladder match will be last to give Chad Gable every extra second to recover. If in fact we are to believe this crazy rumor that maybe he is El Grande Americano. Did you see that, did you see how like Chad Gable? What a guy. I just have so much respect for Chad Gable, one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. did you see how generous he was when he found out that el grande americano had his luggage lost by the airline on monday chad gable said what what size boots do you wear oh my gosh it's the same
Starting point is 00:22:51 size as me and i don't know if you caught that or not but al gronde americana was actually wearing chad gable's boots in the money in the bank qualifier match on monday so what a guy what a guy chad gable is like how kind of him to be able to lend his boots to el grande americano All right, in this match, we've got Seth Rollins, L.A. Knight. Yeah, Penta, El Grande Americano, solo, Sacoa, and Andrade, and it just breaks my heart that Caring Cross is not in this match. And I'm not saying that anybody in this match is not deserving of being in this match, but I think I speak for most of us when I say that if Carying Cross was in there instead of
Starting point is 00:23:34 Andrade, we wouldn't be upset about that. even if carrying cross wasn't going to win the briefcase, let him be in the match and let him have that moment where he's climbing the ladder with nobody else around and it feels like he's going to get his moment. I don't know what's going on with carrying cross, but man, that guy is just so wildly entertaining and his promos are just, oh, there's so much intensity with them.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Love it. The odds here for this match favor Seth Rollins. and with Seth Rollins having Braun Breaker and Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman in his corner, probably not in his corner for this match, although maybe, maybe, who knows? Is Seth Rollins coming down to the ring by himself? Is Seth Rollins coming down to the ring with all of his buddies? Because if he is, that really changes things up here. Seth Rollins is one of those guys that really could fit in anywhere on the card.
Starting point is 00:24:33 and you know he's going to make whatever the match, whatever the storyline that he's part of, means something. And I love that. I would love to see LA Knight win the briefcase here. Third time's a charm. He has been so, so close. And I feel like ever since losing the United States championship
Starting point is 00:24:55 for the second time, he just hasn't had something. This would be it. And he still gets mega pops when his music hits. I would love to see it be L.A. night here. I would also love to see it be Penta. And I think that Penta is absolutely a future world champion.
Starting point is 00:25:15 It's just a matter of when he wins it, not if he wins it. I just don't think it's quite yet. He made his debut in January. Here we are in June. I think maybe by this time next year we could be talking about Penta being a world champion. And you know he's going to go all out in this match. I don't think it's Penta. I think it comes down to Seth Rollins or L.A. Knight.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Yeah. As much as I would love for this to be L.A. night, I think it's going to be Seth Rollins. And I think it's going to just be a little bit more gasoline poured on the fire of this faction that they have. This faction already seems unstoppable. Well, what happens when this faction has the money in the bank briefcase, which, as we know, Seth Rollins knows when to cash in if slash when
Starting point is 00:26:04 Seth Rollins becomes Mr. Money in the Bank just a matter of time till he's a world champion. So throw a world championship into their faction. My goodness. That's something else. I'm excited for money in the bank. I'm excited for Worlds Collide. I'm excited for wrestling right now.
Starting point is 00:26:25 I said it last week, but AEW double or nothing was the best card that AEW has had all year. I feel like AEW is doing a lot of things right now that remind me of why we got so excited about AEW in 2019. And a rising tide lifts all ships. AEW, TNA, AAA, WW, WW, New Japan. It's a lot of great stuff going on in wrestling right now. And I'm pumped for it. If you're going to Money in the Bank, I'll love to see you there. So say hello. Be so cool to say what's up and talk a little wrestling. Stuart Thompson on Facebook says, what do you think the chances are that Sina wins his retirement
Starting point is 00:27:11 match fulfilling his promise to ruin wrestling only to be cashed in on right after by the money in the bank winner? I still don't think that John Sina will be the champion by then. I'm not exactly sure when he loses it or who he loses it to, but I don't feel like he's going to be the champion for the whole year. Could be wrong. And I'll follow your theory here. So if Sina is still the champion going into his last match, I think that Sina is such a student of the game and is so respectful to the business that
Starting point is 00:27:50 he's going to go out in his back. that's that's what you do when you're when you're retiring i think that seen a winning his last match and then getting cashed in on by the money in the bank winner i don't think that's like a good feel-good moment and i think that especially for seen his last match it's going to be the age-old adage of send them home happy i think that when you have a money-in-the-bank winner cash-in especially at the end of the show the focus now shifts to them. So if the focus was on John Sina, oh my gosh, what a great moment, not a dry eye in the building, everybody's on their feet, and then someone's music hits,
Starting point is 00:28:37 now the focus goes to them. So if it's Seth Rawlins, who is my pick, maybe it's L.A. Knight, yeah. Now the focus goes to them, which I can understand that that's a great passing of the torch moment. It's a great like, hey, it's not about me anymore. It's about this person who's coming along and it's now their moment. I think that if we're speaking along these terms of like passing of the torch and the next generation, the next face of the company, it seems to me like it's another match with Cody Rhodes. And I just, I can't envision John Cena beating Cody again, then someone's music hitting and then John Cena getting cashed in on. It could be wrong. I just, I don't see it going that way.
Starting point is 00:29:28 I know that I said CM Punk would be a great opponent at some point during the retirement tour, maybe even as his last opponent. Seems like they're cooking that one up a little bit sooner. Maybe that's the SummerSlam match. And if it is, oh my goodness. That's going to be fantastic. The mic work between them, the promos. Oh, it's going to be so good. I don't know when we're going to see the cash-ins. But I just feel like with Drew McIntyre winning last year and cashing in the same night unsuccessfully, by the way, I don't think that's what's going to happen here.
Starting point is 00:30:04 I think whoever the money in the bank winner is on the men's side hangs on to it a little bit longer. That's what I think. I don't know. I just think that when you have the cash in happen on the same night, it takes like a bullet out of the chamber. When you're the champion, and someone has the money in the bank briefcase, you're just constantly concerned.
Starting point is 00:30:26 It's always like in the back of your mind, well, could this be the time they cash in? I don't know, could it? I just feel, and this is not based off any sort of fact, it's just my feeling. I feel like whoever wins money in the bank on the men's side hangs on to this for a little while. And if it is, in fact, Seth Rollins, that becomes a focal point of their faction. good job cobb sent this one in on instagram now that we know carrying cross is not officially involved with money in the bank what do you think is or what should be the next step for him if you were to put
Starting point is 00:31:03 if you were in charge of booking who would you put him in a feud with i would immediately put him in a feud with jacob fatu for the united states championship these guys know each other well they've wrestled each other before on the Indies. They wrestled each other at Circle 6. They wrestled each other at FSW, Future Stars of Wrestling in Cross's hometown, Las Vegas. They know each other well. We've seen the matches that they've had together. Both of them are like sticks of dynamite on the mic. It would be lightning in a bottle. That's what I would do. I would find a way for them to have a storyline that lasts for a few months, two, three, four months
Starting point is 00:31:47 with carrying cross at some point, at the end of the feud, becoming the United States champion. That's what I would do. I don't understand how you can ignore the reaction that he's been getting. Like, dude came out on main event.
Starting point is 00:32:03 What was that? Two weeks ago and got one of the biggest pops of the night. On main event! I don't know how you can ignore that. And it just seems to me like, they need to take what they've got with Carrying Cross and just run with it. So that's what I would do. But I don't, where does it go from here?
Starting point is 00:32:28 I'll be very patiently watching. This episode is brought to you by Viori. Hey, Chris, big fan here from Kitchener, Ontario. That's right next to my college town. I went to Wilford Laurier University in Waterloo. You've inspired me during my entire weight loss journey with vague goals, get vague results. I'm down 70 pounds and I feel great.
Starting point is 00:34:12 My goodness. congratulations to you. That's awesome. My question is, did everyone at the wedding know that Ryan Nemith was coming out to crash it or was it a generalized shock? How long did it take for you to realize that it was a work and not a shoot? Keep on rocking it, sir. Thank you for keeping me company on my commute to Mississauga. First of all, that is a heck of a commute. Kitchen and a Mississauga. That is, that's long. So I'm glad that we're riding together right now on a Friday morning. I love it. So I think we need a little bit of context for this wedding. If you haven't seen the clip, you know the part of a wedding ceremony where they say,
Starting point is 00:34:52 if anybody here has any objections and then everybody stays quiet for a second and then they go on with the ceremony? Well, they did that line. The person who was officiating the wedding said that. And then Ryan Nemeth, who was not at the wedding to this point, he had been just hanging out, I guess in hiding, came out and said, yeah, I've got a problem with this. I started just like running his mouth. And what it ended up happening was he takes a chair shot to the back and they ends up getting
Starting point is 00:35:20 chokeslammed through a table. So this was Keith Blomberg's wedding. Keith Blomberg has been a friend of mine for years. He works for WWE. He is a cinematographer slash producer for WWE. All of the beautiful slow motion stuff that shot on film, that's Keith. he also records a lot of the like beautiful backstage stuff as well like when you see like vignettes where like the people are like posing to the camera and there's like the lights behind them or fire
Starting point is 00:35:51 behind them Keith Keith is shot a lot of that stuff so Rachel and I RVV got invited to Keith and Danny's wedding and so I I will admit I knew that this was going to happen Keith told me weeks ago, he was telling me about all the fun stuff that was happening at this wedding. And this is one of the greatest wedding receptions I've ever been to. So it starts happening. Ryan Nemet is out there cutting this fantastic promo about why he wants to save Keith from making this giant mistake, marrying his beautiful bride, Danny. And then Danny and Keith go back to investigate.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Keith starts, or Ryan Nemet starts yelling. at the officiant of the wedding, getting in his face, goes to take off of his tank top. And at that exact moment, that's when Keith's bride to be smack hits Ryan Nemeth in the back or the chair. So what's funny is when Ryan first came out, Rachel had no idea.
Starting point is 00:36:56 I had not smartened her up to this. I was also sitting next to Omas, who I just interviewed the day before. And it's funny. We were just like chatting with each other during the cocktail hour. then they were like, everybody grabbed their seats and we're like, oh, okay, let's just sit right here. And I ended up sitting next to Omas, which is a whole other story in itself because he's just
Starting point is 00:37:18 everybody there was taking photos with him, whether they knew wrestling or not. But Rachel had no idea what was going on. So she was like kind of scared because, I mean, we were in the last row. So Ryan was right behind us as he's doing this whole thing. So Rachel was like startled. And I could see the look on some of the other people at the, weddings face because not everybody there was a wrestling fan. Like you've got grandpas and grandmas and aunts and uncles and cousins.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Not everybody there was a wrestling fan. Although there were a lot of people there that worked for WWE. Not everybody there was in on this. So I think it took a good five or 10 or maybe 20, 30 seconds for everybody to realize, oh, yes, of course. Keith and Danny are both massive wrestling fans. This all makes sense. Even if they don't know who Ryan Nemeth is because they don't watch wrestling,
Starting point is 00:38:16 he looks like a wrestler. He's jacked dude and he's wearing a tank top. Then he takes off his shirt. Oh my gosh. This guy's tanned and jacked. Looks great. It took a little while for people to figure it out. But after the chair shot to the back,
Starting point is 00:38:33 the bridesmaid started. chanting, this is awesome. Then everybody at the wedding started chanting, this is awesome. It was awesome. Then the choke slam by both Keith and Danny through a like a table. And then they just continued the wedding. Like Ryan's laid out through this table. No one's checking on him. I even said to Homass. I said, should we check on Ryan? Like, I hope he's okay. I do. I do. The kiss. They walked down the aisle. Ryan's still laying there. it was so much fun. And it's been so cool seeing how viral this clip is gone.
Starting point is 00:39:11 Someone just sent me a clip. It was on the local news in Chicago. What? It's so much fun. So that's a little bit of the backstory of this. And I just can't believe that I had a, I was in the last row, but I had a front row seat for this whole thing. What a blast.
Starting point is 00:39:32 I think it's fair to say there, won't be another wedding they'll ever go to like that. They also had a championship belt. Like when they came out for the introductions later on, Keith had a custom championship belt for their wedding
Starting point is 00:39:48 around his waist. Like, man, so much fun. So much fun. Nancy Ora emailed this one in. Hey, Chris, my question for you is, do you think that the Evolution PLE should be an annual event? will they be bringing other talent over from TNA for the show as well?
Starting point is 00:40:09 Maybe a battle royal. Love the podcast, Nancy. Well, Nancy, thanks for sending your email in. Absolutely. I can't believe that the last evolution was 2018. Seven years ago. Wild. By the way, do you remember the main event for evolution 2018?
Starting point is 00:40:30 This is like a fun trivia question. I didn't remember it, so I had to look it up. I remembered a lot of the matches on the card, but I didn't specifically remember the order of them. The main event was Rhonda Rousey defeating Nikki Bella. Ronda Rousey was the champion there. The co-main event was a last woman standing match for the Smackdown Women's Championship. Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair. I hope that this is something that happens every single year.
Starting point is 00:41:01 the women's division, not just in WWE, but across the board in wrestling, is so stacked right now. And it's amazing that there's an entire PLE dedicated to just showcasing how talented they are. So, yes, we better not be waiting until 2032 to do this again if we're doing it every seven years. So I would love to see this happen every single year. The question about TNA is interesting. Because, and this is the case with any PLA, because there's only so many spots for only so many people. And I would imagine that maybe a Tristratus,
Starting point is 00:41:44 like a legend like her, maybe a leader, like they were on the last evolution. Maybe they get an opportunity to perform here as well. So now you've only got a few, you know, only a handful of spots. And that's got to be both your SmackDown, in your raw talent, probably some NXT talent thrown in there as well. Maybe one or two TNA talent, maybe, I'd love to see it. And they had a 20-person battle royal last time. I think,
Starting point is 00:42:12 I think you could probably bet that they'll do that again this one. I don't know. I think that for, like, TNA and NXT have this partnership, but TNA still isn't a WWE product. So, So every person from TNA that would be in the match would be taking a spot from a current signed WWE superstar. So I don't know. It would be so cool to see Masha in there. Will that happen? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Because I think you've got to be really, you've got to pick very carefully who gets these spots because there are so many deserving people for them. So I don't I'm I'm not sure and I think you also have to factor in like well do we see Nikki Bella again do we see in the battle royal do we see someone like recent Hall of Famer Michelle McCool coming to the match do we see Tori Wilson like there's so many like opportunities very curious to see how it goes but sign me up for evolution this year sign me up for evolution every single year Charles Jablonsky on Facebook.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Hey, CVV, what can you tell us about this movie that you just filmed with James Storm? So I filmed a short film. James Storm was one of the actors in this. So I'm not an actor. I feel like I need to put this out there. Yes, I've been in a few things. I have most of the time played a reporter, either reporter number one or reporter number two.
Starting point is 00:43:53 I've been a reporter in quite a few things. It's always so fun every once in a while when one of those is on TV or one of those is on like Netflix or Hulu or something and I got a screenshot. And someone's like, oh my gosh, is that you in criminal activities? Yes, it is. Is that you in a movie called Love Finds You in Sugar Creek? Yes, it is. Is that you in the bronze, playing a reporter?
Starting point is 00:44:18 Yes, it is. Is that you in a green shirt in the background of the love guru? some actually tweeted me the other day that I was the original green shirt guy. I'm in like four scenes in the love guru just in the background. This is an extra. But one of my very good friends,
Starting point is 00:44:36 Brandon Arroyo, who I've known since I lived in Cleveland. He's born and raised in Cleveland, now lives in Los Angeles. It's funny. He was living right before I moved in with Rachel. I was living in an apartment building in Studio City.
Starting point is 00:44:51 And he actually ended up he was moving apartments. He ended up moving into my same apartment building. We only crossed paths. Like we only live in there at the same time for a week. We were both so bummed. We were like, oh my gosh. Like we'd both been living in L.A. We were 20-ish minutes away from each other. Now we're like 40 feet from each other and you're moving. I can't believe it, man. So Brandon's been just crushing it since he moved to L.A. and he's been working his ass off. He moved to L.A., chasing the dream of becoming an actor. He wrote this script. He directed this film and he also starred in it. So when Brandon asked me, hey, if I wrote a part for you, would you be in this? I said,
Starting point is 00:45:34 of course, I'd be honored. James Storm got cast. Jason Earl got cast. If you remember Hannah Montana, he played Miley Cyrus's older brother Jackson. And the basis of this movie, without giving too much away is my friend Brandon, his character is having the worst day ever. He's fine. His divorce is about to be finalized. He's finding out actually through my character that the bar that all four of these friends, the four actors I was just telling you, all four of these characters own a bar together. The bar is not doing well. If we don't get an investor to sign on, we're going to lose the bar. So this is like the worst day of his life. Divorce is going to be finalized. It's going to lose his job, he's going to lose his bar. And the whole idea here is you've got a best man on your
Starting point is 00:46:27 wedding day and you've also got the worst man on your divorce day when your divorce gets finalized. It was just, it's such a blast. It was so much fun. And I also got to interview James Storm. So after our first day of filming, James Storm and I went to the studio and we recorded an episode that you'll be seeing in like, probably, two weeks or so. What a great conversation. He doesn't do a lot of interviews. So I was honored to be able to have him on the show. But it was just fun. And also like, it's a whole other muscle that you're flexing. Like when I was playing a reporter in the other movies I was in, I wasn't really acting. It was just doing my daily job of like being a reporter. Here, I like actually had a character
Starting point is 00:47:15 and I was like digging into his backstory. And I just hope that I did the script some justice here. So this will, if everything goes well, this will hopefully be in some film festivals. It'll be doing the film festival circuit over the next, probably in the fall, I guess that would be, late summer fall. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Kind of just making this up at this point. But I'm excited to see how this all cuts together. And hopefully this gets posted online. you can check it out and then I'm going to just, just be easy on me, okay? Be easy. If, if it's not good, just let it be, all right? I will say this, James Storm is a heck of an actor. And he's been in quite a few things now. I think he has like 13 or 14 credits now. He's a, he's a heck of an actor. And I, I think that you'll be seeing a lot more of him over the next few years as he continues to hone his craft.
Starting point is 00:48:16 But keep an eye out for worst man sometime later this year. Triple T. Damaria on Instagram. Who is on your jobber Mount Rushmore? What an interesting question. We always talk about who's on your Mount Rushmore and you talk about the four best people.
Starting point is 00:48:39 Who's on the jobber Mount Rushmore? Brooklyn Brawler. Steve Lombardi. an absolute legend, one heck of a guy as well, go check out my episode with him. It's episode number 608 from last May. How can you not love Steve Lombardi after that episode? What's great about Steve slash Brooklyn brawler,
Starting point is 00:49:03 Abe Knuckleball Schwartz, he was also Doink the Clown a few times. He knew his place on the card. And he was like, he took great, pride in making his opponents look good. And I love that about him. Barry Horowitz, the ultimate lovable loser, patting himself on the back.
Starting point is 00:49:25 He made his whole career out of losing. And like, the other thing about Barry Horowitz was like, he was just a symbol of the every man who just might win one, but don't get your hopes up too high. But he might. He could always pull one out. Then we're going to go spot number three to Iron Mike Sharp. Hamilton's own Iron Mike Sharp, who again, a lot like Brooklyn Brawler, just like understood his place on the card, understood his place of like enhancing the other talent. And like, it's funny when the word jobber was brought up to Brooklyn Brawler, he was like, I wasn't a jobber, I was an enhancement talent.
Starting point is 00:50:06 And that's not a term that gets used as often these days. but you're in there to make your opponent look great. Iron Mike Sharp totally understood that. And I just honestly can't remember a Mike Sharp win. So Iron Mike Sharp. And then the final spot is Dwayne Gill, aka Gilberg. And I don't know if people remember, but before he was Gilbert, he jobbed all the time in the 80s and early 90s.
Starting point is 00:50:40 and then as he was also a ninja turtle do you remember that like that's a weird piece of wrestling trivia wrestle the match as a ninja turtle but when he became gilberg he became a cult icon like still losing but losing in a really memorable fashion so that's my mount rush more of jobbers i think that's a pretty solid list but if you have a someone else who you think should be on there instead dropping in the comments. I'd love to hear. Haley Conroe on Instagram says, when will you interview Sting?
Starting point is 00:51:19 Haley, I have been trying. I have been trying for a long time. I even met up with his manager, Gilbert, at SummerSlam last year in Cleveland. He introduced me to Sting. I chatted with Sting for 10, 15 minutes. We had a great conversation. He just made it pretty clear that he's not
Starting point is 00:51:40 interested in doing any sort of interviews at all. And think back. When was the last time Steve Borden, Sting did an interview? I don't know. Maybe it was like a wrestle starcast? I don't know. Maybe. But he just doesn't do them. Like, so I'm trying. And I was thinking, man, if this is his last year of doing conventions, then what a great way to get the word out. Like, this is it. Sting says he's not doing any more appearances after this year. It's kind of like he's on his own retirement tour of like just appearances. So what better way to get the word out about that than by having an interview? But I would love to.
Starting point is 00:52:25 There's so, like we would need like four hours. There is so much to dive into in his career. But just know that that is very near the top of the list, if not at the very top of like people I still would absolutely. love to have on the show. So put some good vibes out on the world for me. Let's make this thing happen. Sherman Colbertson on Facebook says best and worst storyline ever in wrestling. Best is tough because it's so subjective.
Starting point is 00:53:02 I guess they're both very subjective. But I think the best one for me, just so happens to be the storyline that really sucked me into wrestling in the attitude era. And it was Austin versus McMahon. There were so many layers to that storyline too. People might forget. WW was losing the Monday Night War at that point in time. And that was the storyline that like really ignited things.
Starting point is 00:53:31 It allowed us to see Vince McMahon in a completely different way. And what it did for Steve Austin, other than like, making his entire career, but what it did for him was it, it created this new kind of baby face. He was the anti-hero. And that wasn't something that we had really seen in wrestling up to that point. And that storyline allowed for so many memorable moments. Austin stunning McMahon for the first time was like, what? Like, they're going to that level?
Starting point is 00:54:08 Like, if Austin can stun Vince McMahon, Mr. McMahon, like, he could, then nobody's untouchable. That was a huge moment. And one that I don't think anyone expected. Like, I don't, I don't think that we thought Mr. McMahon would get physical. And then obviously that turned into all kinds of crazy matches that they had together. We also got the beer truck segment because of McMahon versus Austin. The hospital beat down, of course, with a bedpan to the head. That's, I believe, the second most watched
Starting point is 00:54:41 WWE segment of all time, like the second highest rated, I should say. That is the second highest rated Monday Night Raw segment of all time. Number one we talked about last week, which was the Rock and Sock, Rock and Mick Foley in the This Is Your Life segment. We also got the steel cage match at St. Valentine's Day Massacre and Vince getting so bloody.
Starting point is 00:55:07 like every segment felt like must see and then it like turned into Austin McMahon signing with each other at the end of WrestleMania 17 like just so much that to me is the best storyline and if it wasn't for that storyline who knows who knows what how wrestling would have turned out who knows what kind of history would be talking about would WCW still be around I don't know I don't feel like, kind of feels like with the way that things were going with WCW, they were headed down a path. And it was just inevitable that WCW was going to self-implode at some point in time. But seriously, who knows where the Monday Night Wars would have gone had Vince McMahon and
Starting point is 00:55:56 Stone Cold not had this incredible rivalry? So that for me is number one. The worst one does not. take me much thought it's katy vick they like i just can't believe that was a real storyline and triple h having sex with a mannequin and a casket while he's dressed up as cane like what the whole storyline just makes no sense even from like i remember watching it live from the just from the start of this storyline. I remember how little it made sense. Like, Cain's in the ring, Triple H's music hits.
Starting point is 00:56:45 I know about Katie Vic. What? What was that mean? You could see the look on Kane's face. Oh, okay. And then, like, that's the cliffhanger. What? What? And then, like, the storyline is just so, even on paper, it couldn't have been good. And then the execution of it was just so, so poor. And it is very clear that WWE is trying to pretend like this thing never happened. But anytime someone says what's the worst storyline in WWE history, it is Katie Vic.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Two words for you. Katie Vic. BJ Cox on Facebook says, How was your time at the Savannah Bananas game? Look like you had a blast. Man, did we ever have a blast? It was unbelievable. And it's hard to even call it baseball.
Starting point is 00:57:44 I love baseball, but it's hard to call this baseball. That's why they call Banana Ball. It was the most entertaining, sporting event slash show that I've ever been to. Like there's not a single moment at the game where something isn't happening. Like there's always something going on, whether you're singing or there's a race going on, or there's the MC or Yellow Tucks Jesse who owns the team and owns the entire league.
Starting point is 00:58:18 He's not on the mic, hyping up the crowd. It was so entertaining. And it's funny because I go to a lot of baseball games. almost any time at a normal baseball game, at an MLB game, you want to go to the bathroom, you go in between innings, right? And almost every time there's a line to go to the bathroom. I got up to go to the bathroom during this game, and there was no one in there, which is a, like, telltale sign that everybody was still in their seats. Everybody was still there just, like, captivated by what was going on on the field. Huge.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Huge shout out to Matt Greger, aka the young professor who hooked up the tickets for this. He's the MC slash hype man during the game. Out there wearing the gold Sequins jacket, he does such a great job. I was able to talk to him at the game for a little bit as well. What a blast. If the Savannah bananas are in your town or around your town, go.
Starting point is 00:59:23 You go. You will not regret it. And it's a mate, like, 45,000 people. They were, they were at Angel Stadium for two nights, Friday and Saturday last week. And it was sold out like within an hour or something of the tickets going on sale. This year on their world tour, they're calling it. They're playing in three football stadiums and 18 MLB stadiums.
Starting point is 00:59:49 All of those sold out the day that tickets went on sale. Crazy. Matt told me that they're waiting, has three and a half million names on it. Like, they have created something so special. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about this like you know what I'm talking about, let me just back up a little bit.
Starting point is 01:00:09 It is a baseball game, but it's a baseball game where it's like, it's baseball meets pro wrestling. That's what this really is. Because their characters, they're dancing their way to the batters box. Or like the, there's a pitcher on stilts at one point in time.
Starting point is 01:00:27 they're doing trick plays where they're like throwing the ball behind their back or they're doing a back flip as they catch it. So much fun. You might remember a viral clip from last year, last season when John Cena came out and took in a bat was a pinch hitter for the Savannah Bananas. It's just made, like I love the way that they think outside the box. And Jesse, who owns the team and created this whole concept of banana ball, he's all about the fans. fans first. And it's amazing seeing what he's created. Go check out some viral clips on TikTok or on YouTube or Facebook or Instagram or wherever. You'll be blown away by how entertaining this is. Bill E emailed this one in, Hello, Chris. First of all, it's my 40th birthday today on
Starting point is 01:01:19 June 6. Well, happy birthday, Bill. You've inspired me so much in the past few years that I've turned my life around, including practicing gratitude every day. I can't thank you enough. Hashtag grateful. Hopping into the Delorean, what does your high school yearbook have you as the most likely as? What was your graduation song? I'm the class of 03, and ours was vitamin C, friends forever. Keep up the great work, brother. So funny, that was actually our graduation song, too. That song came out like two months before my prom. And I just remember hearing that on the radio, because we still listen to the radio at that point in time. I remember listening to that and being like, they wrote that for us. Like we were the class of 2000.
Starting point is 01:02:06 I went to prom in 2000. As we go on, we remember all the times we had together. I probably got the wrong words there, but if you're in or around my age, you know this song. So that was our that was our graduation song. And it just felt special that like a true song written about graduation was came out as we were graduating. We didn't do the most likelys in my yearbook. I don't know why. But I was heavily invested in the HCW, our backyard wrestling company.
Starting point is 01:02:48 Company. Keep doing that. It's a backyard wrestling federation. It was certainly not a company. Although we did own. the hcw.net for many years. And we were one of the very first backyard wrestling federations to film our stuff, encode the video and upload the clips and the full shows online.
Starting point is 01:03:07 That was extremely rare 25 years ago. My yearbook had a lot of people calling me Sharp. Like all my closest friends called me some version of Chris Sharp, Sharpie, the Sharpster, the sharpness. So there was a lot of Chris Sharp. There was a lot of like, just references to like being a champion, things like that. So most likely to, I don't know. I guess probably between me and one of my other friends who was also in our backyard
Starting point is 01:03:39 wrestling federation, Will White, who ended up actually doing some independent wrestling in and around Ontario, probably for me or him. Actually, he wasn't in my graduating class. He was one year younger. I guess it would have been something like. most likely to become a wrestler. Something like that. I also did the morning announcements.
Starting point is 01:03:59 I was the vice president of my high school, of the student council. As the vice president of my student council, I did a very wrestling themed speech. Okay. I went out and I was doing my speech and like my friends who were dressed up as the APA came out and interrupted. Oh, it was so silly. So silly. So silly. was very openly a wrestling fan,
Starting point is 01:04:27 it would have been something about most likely to become a wrestler. But it's so funny that my friend Will White ended up going on and he was actually the one who did it. Yeah, I went to wrestling school for a little bit, but he actually was the one who did it. He had a great gimmick. He was Will White, good guy, white trunks on,
