Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Van Fleet!
Greetings and salutations, my friends.
Welcome back to another one here on Insight.
I'm CVV.
Chris Van Fleet, hope it's been a great week for you.
Thank you for tuning into this episode.
And thank you for making Insight the number one wrestling podcast on the planet.
Slap a sharpshooter on that follow button wherever you're listening right now.
If it's Spotify, could you leave a rating on there?
If it's Apple, could you leave a review.
Doesn't need to say much.
Just could be a few words.
Could be a few emojis.
But both of those help the show so, so much.
And as the show keeps getting bigger, the guests will also keep getting bigger.
Speaking of that, I'm in Nashville right now as I record this.
I'm in my hotel room here in Nashville.
If this sounds slightly different from usual,
But I'm doing some interviews today.
Then I'm going to be at Smackdown tonight.
I'm pumped.
So if you're going to be there, I would love to say hello.
I'd love to chat a little wrestling with you.
And my goodness, what a week of wrestling this is.
I posted this on Instagram and Facebook yesterday.
It's a graphic from wrestling online of all of the wrestling this week.
And this might be the most packed week of wrestling this year.
Actually, this might be the most packed week.
of wrestling in many years.
Like, this is crazy.
So started on Monday with Raw.
Tuesday, NXT.
Wednesday, Dynamite.
This all sounds relatively normal up to this point, right?
Wednesday's also evolve.
Thursday.
Collision. Thursday. Impact.
Friday.
Ring of honor.
Super card of honor.
Friday. Smackdown.
Saturday.
AEW.
All in Texas.
Saturday.
NXT.
Great America.
American Bash Saturday.
WW.
Saturday night's main event,
Sunday, WWE
Evolution.
My goodness, we're spoiled.
It's an embarrassment of riches
how much wrestling we have right now.
And I just absolutely love it.
And as I look at the calendar,
we are now officially three weeks
away from Insight Live
in New York City.
We're kicking off SummerSlam weekend.
Friday, August 1st with Insight Live
and hopefully if everything goes to plan,
we will be announcing the guest next week.
And it's a big one.
Can I give you a hint?
Let me see.
I mean, I don't want to say too much
because things happen and I've had it happen in the past
where it was supposed to be someone
and then they went, actually,
that person's not available, here's somebody else.
But if this is indeed who we get,
they are a future Hall of Famer,
without question. That's your hint. Like there's someone who's active right now. You see them
wrestling frequently, but they are a future Hall of Famer, an insane career, an incredible resume,
and it's going to be one heck of an episode. So if you're going to be in New York or New Jersey
for SummerSlam or if you live in the area, I would love to see you there. Grab your tickets at
CVVTX.com. CVVTIX.com. And since you're a real, real one, you listen to Ask Cee,
CVV episodes and you listen all the way until the end,
you'll want to come and be a real, real, real, real one.
Yeah, come be a real, real, real one at Insight Live.
The VIP tickets include a special Ask CVV that happens before the show and then a meet
and greet after the show.
So CVVVTX.com, CVVTIX.com.
Welcome, my friends, to ask CVV number nine.
The Dennis Rodman, Kevin Green, and Sergey Fedorov edition.
Man, that's a lot of legends right there.
If you've got a question for next week, for Ask CVV number 91,
or if there is a jersey that pops into your head,
you could see the name on the back when you think of the number 92.
Send it in as a comment on Spotify, if you're listening on Spotify, of course.

CVV. Again, an incredible week of wrestling. We've got a ton of stuff to talk about here. So let's
kick this off with a question from Derek Worthington on Facebook. Hey, CVV, is Goldberg going to
beat Gunther at Saturday night's main event? Like, why else would this be a title match out of nowhere?
So as far as I understand this, the reason that this is a title match is because that was what was in Goldberg's contract, that Goldberg's final match would be for a title. I don't know if it specifically said it had to be for a world title, but as I understand this, he had to have a match that was for a title. But can I be real honest with you? Like, can I make a confession here? I'm really pumped about this match.
Like, I say it all the time.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
And maybe there's a lot of, like, nostalgia creeping into this, but I'm excited for this.
You know that Goldberg is going to have an epic entrance like he always does.
He had an amazing entrance on Raw, rolling up in that 1970.
Chevy Chappelle SS.
Love that.
Came down to the ring.
Slap the mic out of Gunther's Ham.
They tease the spear.
Like, you know that this isn't going to be a little.
long match. You know that this is not going to be a technical spectacle here, but this is going to be
just a lot of fun, some nostalgia thrown in there. And again, this is Bill Goldberg's hometown.
His family is going to be there. There's so much history with Atlanta and WCW. Like,
all of this makes sense. And remember, this isn't a PLE. This is a televised special event on NBC,
which is a national TV network.
So you're going to get a lot of people who are flipping through the channels or maybe
they see on the guide.
Oh, WW Saturday night's main event.
And again, nostalgia playing that big factor.
Let's tune into this for a little while.
Goldberg?
Wow, that's Bill Goldberg?
I remember him from 173 and oh.
Crazy.
I think there's going to be a lot of that thrown into this.
To answer your question, no.
I do not think that Goldberg is going to beat Gunther at Samp.
Saturday Night's Mate event. I don't think that is happening at all. And if we look at the odds at
my bookie, and of course, if you sign up at my bookie and you use the code CVV, you'll get a 50% welcome
bonus on your first deposit. Gunther is a heavy favorite on here. He's a minus 600. I think that
they have been calling this Goldberg's last match for a reason. This is his official send-off. He was
promised a match when he came back and fought Roman Raines years ago.
Vince McMahon said, if you do this match with Roman Reigns, we will give you that retirement match.
Obviously, Vince McMahon's not around anymore to fulfill this promise, but Triple H is fulfilling it, I guess, on his behalf.
This, I think, and you've seen this trend with calling things the last, you know, it was Randy Orton versus John Cena one last time at backlash.
It was John Cena versus CM Punk one last time.
And I think that when they're saying this is Goldberg's last match, this is Goldberg's last match.
And I'm excited to see it.
Maybe it's because I've been watching wrestling since the 90s,
and there's just so much of that that's layered into this.
But I'm excited.
You know that he's going to come in in tremendous shape.
You know that he's going to come in with just the presence,
the aura that he has.
And I'm excited for this.
But no, I do not think that he's going to win this match.
But let's go through the other match.
is on Saturday Night's Mid-Event. By the way, my bookie also has a prop bet for the over-under
of spears. Okay? They have the over-under at 2.5 spears. 2.5 total spears in this match. What do you
think? Over or under? The favorite is over. I don't know. Two and a half spears. It's like,
is he going to do two or three spears? I could see him doing two. I could see the under on this.
Like, that actually might be a solid prop bet there.
But the other matches here, we got Drew McIntyre versus Randy Orton.
Drew McIntyre, the favorite here.
I think that makes a lot of sense.
Drew McIntyre is a lot more to gain from this.
And Randy Orton's also in this point of his life where, like, he's making other
superstars look great.
Like, I don't think that Randy Orton losing this match on Saturday affects him at all.
We've also got Seth Rollins and L.A. Knight. Yeah, thank you for saying, yeah, there.
Seth Rollins, the heavy favorite here. I think that makes perfect sense. Again, it's Mr. Money in the Bank.
I think that's going to just be constantly just there, just lingering in the back of our minds.
Like, oh, wow. I know he's kind of hinted that he's going to cash this in on Sina or on that championship.
but the fact that Seth Rollins is on this same card here with the WWW World Heavyweight Champion
makes me think that maybe they tease that.
Or maybe they just at least put that in your mind of like, well, this is a possibility.
I know that people are thinking he's going to cash in on the WWE Championship,
but let's just plant that seed.
But I think Seth Rollins wins that match.
And again, I think the under.
I think the under on the Spears there.
I'm actually underscore AC on Instagram.
Tony Storm or Mercedes Monet this weekend.
The card for All In is just stacked.
And if we look at that match, specifically timeless Tony Storm versus Mercedes-Money,
I just think that Tony Storm is so over right now that she doesn't necessarily need the championship.
And they're running with this thing with Mercedes right now where she's doing her
version of the belt collector. I think she has, is it four? Is it four championships that she has right now?
I think throw another one in there. Throw a, throw another championship on Mercedes Monet just to
continue to build this character that she has. She is obviously the current AEWTBS champion.
So I think, I think give her another championship and allow that to just go. Like Tony Storm
probably never needs to win another championship with just how over she is.
Like, you think about belt sometimes as a way to, like, elevate somebody.
She doesn't need that.
Like, her promos are great.
Her work in the ring is fantastic.
So if you're asking me, and you are, because this is Ask CVV.
I'm going with Mercedes Monet on that one.
Email here from Kenny Lanoi, who says,
Hey, Chris, with the wrestling content this week,
I'm curious about your predictions for the three battle royal matches.
Who do you see winning these unpredictable contests?
For the men's casino gauntlet at all in, I'm picking MJF, but Darby Allen could also be a
surprise winner.
The women's casino gauntlet is tougher, but I'm leaning towards Megan Bain with
Prip Baker or Jamie Hader as potential surprise returns.
At Evolution, my top pick is Stephanie Vicar with Bianca Bel Air as a possible surprise return
and winner.
I'm excited to see how these matches play out.
Thanks again for great content. I always enjoy your podcast. Sincerely, Kenny, we are going to get to
all of the cards. We went through Saturday night's main event. We're going to go through All-In. We're
going to go through Evolution. But I wanted to specifically talk about just the battle royals that we have
going on. So we'll kick it off here. We'll start with the men's casino gauntlet at all-ins. So the
winner of this match will get a future title shot for the AW World Championship at some point down the line.
I think MJF is a really safe pick on this one.
I think that makes a lot of sense to go with MJF, MJF,
and I think that put him back into the title picture.
You want to talk about great promos.
Man, MJF, anytime he has a mic in his hand, is just so good.
I would love to see MJF back in that title picture,
but the idea of Darby Allen coming back.
And we haven't seen Darby Allen since December,
22nd, 2024.
I think the idea of Darby Allen coming back, he hasn't been on TV in more than half a year,
he's been ticking things off his bucket list, just climbed Mount Everest, which is an insane
thing for anybody to do, let alone to be the first pro wrestler to summit Mount Everest.
And no, no, JBL tried climbing Mount Everest, but because of weather, wasn't able to summit,
look it up.
That's a real thing.
every time I say that congratulations, he's the first pro wrestler to Summit Mount Everest. People are like,
well, actually, no, it's true. It's true. Darby Allen is the first. Absolutely no disrespect at all to
J.B. Allen, all of his conquests that he's had. He's climbed many a mountains. But with what Darby
Allen's doing, he's like doing all these amazing side quests, have him come back. If he wins this battle royal,
then he has the opportunity with Russell Dream being in his home state of Washington.
I think you've got a big moment there for Darby Allen to win this in front of his hometown crowd.
I truly think that that's what they're building up to with this.
So even though Darby Allen's not officially back, even though he's not officially even entered in this match, that's what I'm going with on this one.
The women's gauntlet a lot tougher for sure.
I know you said Britt Baker.
If the reports online are true,
I don't know if Britt Baker is going to be in AEW for much longer.
Megan Bain makes a lot of sense.
Jamie Hater also makes a lot of sense.
This one's really tough to call.
Really tough to call.
I'm going to go with Megan Bain on this one.
And then we look at the Evolution Battle Royal here.
The top pick and also the favorite,
according to my bookie, is Stephanie Vakere.
I love that pick.
And she was my early pick for Queen of the Ring.
She's going to get a title shot at some point this year.
This is just a matter of when, not a matter of if she gets a title shot.
I think this is a perfect opportunity to do it.
So I'm going with Stephanie of a care.
But I think that you're going to see some big surprise entrance in this one.
I think that there's the opportunity to see someone like, I don't know, maybe I'm just
saying this because she was just a guest on the show yesterday.
but I think Paige could make a return here.
And I think that that'd be an amazing spot
to have her slide into that.
So I think you could see that.
I think you have the possibility
to see some legends also appearing in this.
Like, could we see Alita in this?
I think that's a real possibility as well.
Also, I'm a little surprised
with the partnership that WWE has with TNA.
If we look at the evolution card
that there's no TNA stars on there,
and I think that that's an opportunity here
in the battle royal to put one or two or three TNA stars in there mixed in with a few
legends mixed in with maybe a return or maybe one or two returns. I think there's a lot of
interesting surprises that could happen in this one. But you're right. You absolutely nailed it here,
Kenny. These are the ones that are the most unpredictable. They're the hardest ones to call,
in my opinion. But that's what I'm going with. Maybe those are bold predictions.
maybe not. I guess we'll find out this weekend.
Keshen Martin on Spotify says,
Sharp. I love that. Thank you to everyone who just left the word
Sharp, who listened on Spotify last week. Thank you for leaving the comment,
Sharp for obvious reasons. Hey, CVV, real, real one for two years.
Love listening during my drive to work. I was wondering,
do you agree that Bailey, Lyra, and Becky should main event evolution?
It seems like the best choice, given how well-flashed out the storyline has become.
It seems unfortunate that the rest of the matches storylines feel a bit rushed leading up to evolution.
Not to mention all three ladies are killing it in the ring.
Much love to you and the family.
Hope to be a real, real, real one should you come to Florida.
Well, I would love to come back to Florida.
That is one of my homes.
I lived in Fort Lauderdale slash Miami for five years.
So yeah, I would love to do a show there.
WWE seems to have a lot of things going on around Orlando.
So maybe we do a show in Orlando at some point in time.
I totally agree that this should be the main event.
Like this is when you look at the card and we're going to go through the car,
we're going to make some picks here.
When you look at the card, this one makes a lot of sense.
And I think that this is like the banger of all banger matches when you just look at the card on paper.
obviously, Ria Ripley and Eoskeye is going to show out. And I think there's a real possibility there
for them to build something there. I'm getting ahead of myself here. But yes, I think that Becky
versus Bailey versus Lyra should be in the main event spot, is in the main event spot, and is
going to deliver on all levels. Becky, heavy favorite here. That's who I'm going with on that one.
Well, let's look at the entire evolution card. Then we'll get to all in. So we got,
NXT Women's Championship.
It's Jacey Jane going up against Jordan Grace.
I love Jordan Grace in this match.
She's the favorite here, and I'm going to go with Jordan Grace.
We've seen her be the knockout champion.
We've seen her be the TNA women's champion.
We know that she can absolutely carry that role.
We know that she will succeed at that.
And she's just so good.
She's so good.
I just love Jordan Grace.
I'm going with Jordan Grace on this one.
and if she's not the NXT women's champion after this weekend,
it's just a matter of time before that happens.
Women's World Championship, Eoskei, Ria Ripley,
going to be a banger of a match.
Ria Ripley is the favorite here.
And I've been talking a lot about how big it is
with Ria Ripley being a massive star in Australia
and with Perth,
around the corner-ish.
It's this fall.
It's October 11th.
I think that she's going to be a big part of that show.
I'd be absolutely shocked if she's not the main event of Crown Jewel.
I like Ria Ripley in this.
She's the favorite.
I'm going with Ria Ripley.
What a match this is going to be.
No holds barred, Jade Cargill versus Naomi.
Jade Cargill, big, big favorite here.
I like Jade Cargill on this.
this one. And I think it just continues to add momentum to everything that she has going on here
with being Queen of the Ring. This is going to be a big year, certainly a big second half of the year
for Jade Cargo. I like her in this match. And this is going to be just like a, this is just going to be
a dirty match. This is just going to be like an all out just brawl. And I, I can't wait. Can't
wait to see what they come up with. Shopping for a car should be.

Car gurus.com.
the fatal four-way women's tag team championship.
So in this match, we've got the Judgment Day,
so that's Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez,
putting their championships on the line against Charlotte Flair
and Alexa Bliss versus Sol Ruka and Zaria
versus the Kabuki Warriors.
This kind of feels like one of those matches
that's just thrown together.
Like, let's get eight people in this match and make this thing happen.
I'm a little confused as to why Charlotte Flair
and Alexa Bliss are in this.
but I digress.
The odds favor Raquel and Roxanne,
and I agree with that.
I don't think their run is going to come to an end just yet,
so I'm going to give them the nod on this one.
And we've got the WWE Women's Championship.
It's like era versus era here.
Tiffany Stratton putting her championship on the line
against the absolute legend Trish Stratus.
And this is kind of one of those moments
where it's like a passing of the tour.
it's like, you are, you are the champion now. I was the, I mean, Tristratus is the goat, but there's a,
and can we just talk about how Trish Stratus has aged like 14 minutes in the last 25 years?
Incredible. And like, and the way she moves in the ring, it's like it's 2000 all over again.
Just incredible, incredible. Tiffany Stratton is a massive favorite here, and I think that makes sense.
I think this is an opportunity for them to show out, have an amazing match, but Tiffany Stratton
to get the win.
Now let's go over to All-In, and this card is just stacked.
This card is so, so stacked.
So we talked about Tony Storm and Mercedes-Money.
We got John Moxley putting his championship on the line against Hangman Adam Page.
I've said this before, but I think that John Moxley's title run has just, it's come to an end.
Like this has been the least interesting of his title runs.
And I just think it's time to move on from this and make somebody else the champion.
Hangman Adam Page is on fire right now.
I think this is Hangman Page's opportunity.
But like I said, I don't know if this is going to be a very long run.
Like I truly see somewhere in the fall, maybe it's Russell Dream with Darby Allen,
but I just feel like this is, he's going to win the championship here.
And I think that it's only for a few months.
but Hangman Adam Page is who I'm going with on that.
Okada versus the returning Kenny Omega,
I was actually there when he returned.
I got to see him return in Ontario, California.
Incredible.
This match is going to, oh my gosh,
going to be amazing.
They are unifying the international and continental championship in this match.
I like Kenny Omega here.
I don't see any reason why he would come back and lose this match,
but we're really all winners here.
Like seriously,
that this match is just going to, oh my gosh,
I don't even know if I have words
to describe how good this is going to be.
TNT championship match,
Adam Cole, Bebe,
putting his title on the line against Kyle Fletcher.
And this one really feels to me
like it could be a coin toss.
Like, I think you could have Adam Cole
continue to hold the championship,
sorry, Adam Cole Bebe,
continue to hold the championship for a little while longer.
But Kyle Fletcher is the future,
like one of the future stars of this business.
And he's gone in there and had so many amazing matches
in the short time that he's been in AEW,
and this is going to be another one of them.
He's going to win titles.
He's going to win mid-card titles.
He's going to be world champion at some point.
Is this when it happens?
Maybe.
Again, I feel like this is a coin flip,
like the odds are dead even on this. I'm going to go with Kyle Fletcher just because I think it's this,
it's a big moment. It's all in. They're in the stadium. I think this is an amazing opportunity
to have the championship change hands here. A.W. World Tag Team Championship three-way match.
You've got Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, the Hurt Syndicate putting their titles on the line
against Christian Cage and Nick Wayne and Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight.
I see the hurt syndicate just continuing to continue their reign of terror.
Like, and their theme song is so catchy.
We hurt people.
We hurt people.
I give it to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin.
We've got the Young Bucks against Swerve Strickland and Will Osprey, another match that's just going to be so good here.
The Young Bucks are just in a.
amazing shape lately. And you can never count them out in any match. I'm going to go with the Young
Bucks, but I would not be surprised if Swerve and Will Osprey pull this one off. I think that's the
whole card there, right? Oh, sorry, we got the ops versus the death riders. Trio's match for the
AEW. World Trio's championship. And this is another one where it's just like, I don't know, this could go
either way. I'm going to go death riders. Let's go death riders on this. Claudio, Wheeler Yuda,
Gabe Kidd. Yeah, we'll go with Death Riders and Gabe Kidd on this one. Again, just a heck of a week.
An amazing week for wrestling, whatever your flavor of ice cream happens to be, you can have several
scoops of it this week. What a strange analogy with the scoops. But you know what I mean? Whatever your
flavor of ice cream is. You get it this week. There is so, so, so much going on. I love it.
Casey Eshty on Spotify says, question for Ask CVV number 91, the Dennis Rodman and Kevin Green
edition. I love that because they're both like they have the wrestling tie-in too. With Seth
Rollins, cutting the promo about saving wrestling and John Cena wanting to ruin wrestling, wouldn't it
makes sense for Seth to cash in on John Sina. It certainly makes sense. And I think that when you get
someone like Seth Rollins, I don't think he's saying these things by accident. He's not just
throwing out the line saving wrestling just because it sounds good. I think that that is done
very intentionally to be the exact opposite of what John Sina's been saying with ruining wrestling.
I think they may continue to keep us guessing what Seth Rollins going to do with this,
but I definitely agree that if it's not John Sina, he's cashing in on that championship.
But yes, this makes sense.
But I have this theory.
I have this theory because I've been talking a lot about it.
Like, it's hard to turn baby face.
Like, it's so easy to turn heel.
You make front of the crowd.
You make fun of the home team.
You kick the biggest baby face in the balls in the center of the ring and elimination chamber in Toronto.
It's easy.
Becoming a baby face is something that it's not done in a moment as easily as turning heel.
It's usually done over a buildup of several weeks, sometimes even several months as a story gets told.
But I have a scenario at SummerSlam where I think that John Sina could turn baby face very quickly.
and I will still hold to this idea that John Cena is not retiring as a heel.
I think that we're going to get the back part of this retirement run as a baby face.
Here's what I think could happen at SummerSlam.
And Joey Carney from The Engle podcast shared this stat on Instagram.
I love this.
He has so many great posts.
So follow him on Twitter, follow him on Instagram.
He's at the angle, Joey.
he said that John Sina is two and eight at SummerSlam when the WWE championship is on the line.
So the odds are not in John Sina's favor here.
And I just, I don't see any other reason to have Cody Rhodes versus John Sina again for the
second time in less than three months or be a little more over three months for the second
time in a little over three months to have Cody lose again.
I just, I don't see why they would do that.
that. I think that it's going to be Cody Rhodes getting the win at SummerSlam. And again, we've
got three weeks before SummerSlam. We've got a lot of time, three more Raws, four more smackdowns,
including tonight. There's a lot that can happen between now and August 2nd and 3rd. But here's
the way that I see this shaking out. I see Cody winning. And then Seth Rollins comes down. Both
men have gone to war. Sina is badly beaten up. Cody's just barely squeaked out this win. He's starting to
celebrate his second championship win, but man, he's just beaten down. And then Seth Rollins,
Seth Rollins music hits. And Seth Rollins comes down. He goes to cash in. And John Sina
prevents Seth Rollins from beating Cody Rhodes. Boom. Instant baby face.
And it sets up another match with John Sina and Seth Rohns.
So if we're looking at the landscape of like what could his matches be, there's another
one there.
And that leads into our next question here in a minute.
But I think that that's the way this goes.
So maybe it's not Seth cashing in on Sina, but it's Seth cashing in after that match.
That's the way that I could definitely see this play out.
I don't want to get too deep into the fantasy booking because then I think sometimes you get way ahead of
yourself and then you start to like have these expectations of like, well, if this thing doesn't happen,
then I'm going to be so upset. And I think that's one of the biggest problems that we all collectively
have as wrestling fans is we set these expectations for who's going to win a match or how they're going
I win a match and when those expectations aren't met, we're like, whoa, it didn't happen because
of this.
It's like, no, just like, enjoy the show.
And that's what I'm trying to do here.
I'm just trying to enjoy the show, but I'm thinking, trying to think ahead of like, how
else could John Sina become a baby face in a short period of time?
That one makes a lot of sense.
Garrett Bogstad emailed this one and said, hey, CVV, real, real one here.
Thank you, Garrett.
Could Joe Hendry be John Cena's final opponent or just a match?
I do see a small chance of potentially the TNA world champion facing off against the
WWE champion.
Just a thought.
Keep up the great work, Garrett from Wisconsin.
I would love to see it.
And if you go back and listen to that episode with Joe Hendry from a few months ago,
he's pretty much manifested everything that's happened.
Like, Joe Hendry is on an incredible run.
like the TNA debut was huge.
It was the most viewed WWE clip on Twitter last.
Actually, it was the most viewed wrestling clip on Twitter last year.
Then he's in the Royal Rumble as the TNA champion.
Then he wrestles at WrestleMania as the TNA champion against Randy Orton.
Like crazy.
He's got an amazing track record of like speaking this out into the world.
And then it happens.
So I do not doubt.
that Joe Hendry has the ability to make this happen,
but I'm looking at the schedule here.
And the John Cena retirement run is more than half over.
And if you look at what we have left this year,
and if John Cena continues to wrestle at every PLE,
and then he's going to wrestle that rumored match mid-December
as a Saturday night's main event in Boston,
if that rumor is in fact true,
then John Cena has five.
guaranteed matches left. Sure, there may be a match on Raw or SmackDown thrown in there.
There haven't been a lot of those that have happened thus far in the John Cena retirement tour.
I think we've had two of them, right? Is it two of them? So we have five-ish matches left,
and I'll go through them. We've got SummerSlam. August 2nd and 3rd in New Jersey.
I'm assuming it's happening on August 3rd.
He's going to main event night two.
That's what I'm assuming.
We already know that opponent.
Cody Rhodes.
Later that month, August 31st,
clash in Paris.
Then we got Crown Jewel in Perth on October 11th,
Survivor Series in San Diego on November 29th.
And then that rumored Saturday night's main event,
which is rumored to be John Cena's last match in mid-December.
That's five.
That's it.
how many, there might be one or two others tossed in.
So we've got seven, right?
Maybe.
We know Cody Rhodes, who are the other opponents?
I think there's got to be a Roman Raines match in here.
Roman Raines is too big of a star to not have a match with John Cena on the retirement tour.
I'd be shocked if we don't get John Cena versus Roman Raines.
All right. So now we've only got three to five matches left because we got another one with Cody.
We got Roman Raines. I would think that if my idea of what might happen at SummerSlam actually does come to fruition, Seth Rollins goes to cash in. John Sina says, ah, not today. That sets us up for John Sina versus Seth Rollins, which is another match. I would be shocked if we don't get Seth Rollins versus John Sina. And it might be John Sina's best. It might be John Sina's best.
match of the year because that's what Seth Rollins does. He brings out the best in all of his opponents.
Could there be a match with the rock? There's a lot of things about that that make a lot of sense.
I've heard actually put a poll out. I put a poll on my Instagram broadcast channel and I said,
who is going to be John Cena's final opponent? And I actually read you the results. Let me pull this up.
because I put 14 names on there.
And I also put like someone else.
Like you guys could just fill in whoever you wanted.
The person who won the survey had the most votes by far was the rock.
So there's a lot of history there.
They've wrestled twice before.
The one and one could be, you know, the third time.
Let's see it and run it back, have it happen again.
There's also just a storyline here.
Ron Sina does end up turning baby face at some point, which I think we all can agree is going to happen here.
The Rock's one of the biggest heels, if not the biggest heel in the company.
There's so much about it that makes sense.
So maybe we get a match with The Rock.
The other names on that list, by the way, in order was The Rock, then someone else, because you guys were like, I don't know, it can't be any of these other people in the list.
Cody Rhodes, Roman Raines, Randy Orton, Brom Breaker.
edge. That could be very interesting. Our truth, AJ Stiles, and then the list kind of falls off from there.
This is the great thing about the John Cena retirement tour is it just keeps us guessing.
It keeps us guessing like, where's it going to go next? Like, I don't know about you, but I don't think
that anybody saw a pipe bomb promo being thrown into this. I think we knew that tensions
would get high and things would get very heated between John Sina and CM Punk. But I don't think
we saw John Sina giving his own version of a pipe bomb promo. And I love that. I loved it.
Like, they just veered off in that direction and went with it. It was awesome. If we're being
completely honest here, I don't think that anybody thought that CM Punk was actually going to wrestle
in Saudi Arabia. That was another, like, what, like, if you looked at this at the start of the year and
you looked at the entire PLE schedule, I think that that would have been,
the one where you're like, oh, that's definitely not going to be the CM Punk match.
So there have been a lot of surprises.
And I've been saying this all along.
I think it's hard to appreciate things when you're in it.
And I feel this a lot with sports.
When you're in it, it's just like it's week to week.
It's game to game and wrestling.
It's match to match.
And it's hard to appreciate it as it's happening.
And sometimes when the season's over, it takes you zooming out
to go, man, that week 11 win against the Patriots or whatever it happens to be, man, that was the
real pivotal one. And I think that that's happening a lot with the John Cena retirement run,
where like week to week, it's like, all right, yeah, what's next? What's next? And like,
I think wrestling is very much a business of like, yeah, what's next? What have you done for me lately?
But I think when we look back on this in a year and then in five years and then in 10 years,
I think there's going to be these like tent pole moments along the way where we go, all right,
winning the rumble, that's one, okay, turning heel, that's another one.
All right, the WrestleMania match, boom, that's another one.
I think there's going to be these big moments.
I think there's also going to be the little nuanced moments.
And we've been handed a lot of those with every single John Cena performance.
I feel like there's like little Easter eggs in there.
There's little things that hopefully one day he comes on insight and we can go through all of them and,
hey, what were you thinking here? What was the plan with this? What was the actual original idea with
this? Because John Sina hinted recently that there have been quite a few pivots and they listen to the audience
on numerous occasions and went, no, let's go with this other thing instead. But I would love to
see Joe Hendry be one of the opponents. I just don't see how it.
fits into the schedule.
Because I think that when we talk about a match with Cody,
there's Cody, there's Roman,
seems likely that we could get a match with the Rock.
An AJ Stiles match would be so good
and there's so much there.
I mean, AJ Stiles is the face that runs the place, right?
There's so much there.
And then there's also the idea of like,
well, what about putting someone younger over?
What about a match with Braun Breaker?
What about a match with Dominic Mysterio?
There's been so much talk about Will John Sina finally become a Grand Slam champion?
He just needs to win that Intercontinental Championship.
I don't see that being like a thing that he feels like he needs to do.
Like, obviously his legacy is cemented.
He's doing just fine.
But it'd be cool to just have that idea thrown out there.
So, like, there's all of these matches that could possibly take
place, but we only got like five-ish left, five, six, maybe seven.
So I'm buckled up.
I can't wait to see where it goes, Summer Slam and Beyond.
We already know the Summer Slam opponent, where does this roller coaster take us next?
Travis White on Facebook says, hey, CVV, I absolutely loved your interview with Steve Blackman.
It got me thinking, who do you think of when you think of the hardcore title?
First of all, I can't believe we got Steve Blackman on the show.
Steve Blackman has not done an interview since 2007, 18 years ago with our video.
I can't believe it.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to listen to it or watched it on YouTube.
I'm just blown away.
Blown away that we were able to make that thing happen.
Also, the Bass Pro Shops in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, pretty solid.
I stayed in a hotel right near that when I was doing the interview, Steve Blackman.
But, yeah, what a guy.
And, like, certainly, like, so nice, but certainly one of those people that, like,
you don't want to get on his bad side.
And, like, how openly he talked about just, like, punching people in the mouth.
Like, he's a scary dude.
And it makes perfect sense that he's a bail bondsman.
Could you imagine skipping out on your bail and, like, Steve Blackman,
the lethal weapon is the one who's coming after you?
It's a terrifying thought.
When I think of the hardcore title,
so Steve Blackman held it for the most amount of days,
but when I think of the hardcore title,
I think of Crash Hawley.
And I just, man, may he rest in peace.
I just love the work that he did.
Like weighing in at allegedly well over 400 pounds,
like, man, so good.
It was so good the work that he did.
Crash held it 22 times, which I think is the second most.
Raven with 26 reigns.
I'm looking at the list now.
Stevie Richards with 21 rates.
So yeah, Raven, 26.
Crash Holly, 22.
Stephen Richards, 21.
Who else is next to Bradshaw?
17.
The list is kind of all over the place.
Maven, three rains for 35 days.
Shout out to Maven.
Love Maven.
Got to get him back on the.
show again soon. He's been on three times before. Gotta get him back on again soon. But when I think of
the hardcore title, yeah, Crash Holly is the person I think of. And I just, I can't believe it's been
over 20 years since he's been gone. That's one of those people that I would love to have on the show
if he was still with us. Jonathan Dedman on Facebook says, in your opinion, who is the best full-package
wrestler. Wrestling ability, Mike's skills, and look. For me, it's either Kurt Engel or Chris Jericho.
Both are really good. Both are great. I think when you talk about ability, Mike's skills look,
like the total package. Yeah, sure. It can make a great argument for Kurt Angle or Chris Jericho.
For me, the answer to this question is Booker T. And when you think about it, like Booker T ticks
every single box. He's someone who can work as a heel or a baby face. He's someone who can be serious
or hilarious. He can work well as a singles wrestler. He can work as a tag team wrestler. He can be a
manager. He can be an authority figure. He can be a commentator. He can do it all. And now he's training
the next generation with his wrestling school, reality of wrestling in Texas City, Texas.
like Booker T for me is that.
And it's just such a legend, right?
So I think you've got, you've got two great answers there.
But I just think that when it comes to all of it,
like absolutely every single element of it,
my answer.
My answer is Booker T.
Clayton Long with an email, it says,
Hi, Chris, love the pod.
I listen to all three episodes every week.
and I can't get enough.
Well, thank you, Clayton.
When we talk about goat status and Mount Rushmore,
we instantly go to singles wrestlers like John Cena,
the Rock, HBK, and all of the other usual suspects, The Undertaker.
However, in my opinion, tag team wrestling,
done well is the best kind of wrestling.
So that takes me to my question.
Who is on your tag team, Mount Rushmore?
Mine is Edging Christian, the Dudley Boys,
the revival, and undisputed era.
And then you've got in brackets here.
Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong.
Thank you for all the great pods and hours of entertainment.
Well, thank you for the question.
And this is such a tough one.
Mount Rushmore's are always so hard, right?
Because you're just narrowing it down to four.
But here's an interesting stat.
So Edging Christian as a tag team had so many legendary matches,
especially with the Dudleys and the Hardys.
Edging Christian were only a tag team for two and a half years.
And this is like one of those like stats that sound so crazy.
It can't even be real.
But it gets even crazier.
They won the WWE World Tag Team Championships seven times.
And they won them all in 11 months.
So they won the championship seven times total.
And they won them between April 2000 and March 2001.
Crazy.
Crazy that they have such a lasting legacy for,
such a short run. Because when you think about Edge, what an amazing career he had as a singles
wrestler. When you think about Christian, what an amazing career he's had as a singles wrestler.
But it's amazing that we still think of them as this unit. And I think, again, it seems to be the
theme of this episode. Nostalgia is just such a powerful thing. Yeah, only two and a half years.
They did their thing as singles wrestlers 10 times longer than they did as tag team wrestlers.
So edging Christian, all that is to say they are not on my list.
I'm going to kick things off with the road warriors.
I think that, in my opinion, they're the greatest tag team of all time.
So the road warriors are on my list.
The Hardy Boys are on my list.
And I think that might just be a personal thing as well because they influence just so
much of the silly things I was doing on the trampoline or the silly things I was doing
at anybody's house who had a diving board.
board or a pool, the amount of swan ton bombs and twist of fates and leg drops and all that stuff
is all because of them. And if I think about that era of wrestling late 90s into the early 2000s,
no one was wrestling like them. Like they had just such a unique style. And a lot of wrestlers and a lot of
tag teams have taken a lot of inspiration from them, but they're the OGs. And they also looked
like so different. They looked like a completely different tag team with the way they
dressed and just the way that they moved. Hardy boys. So that's number two. Dudley boys,
the most decorated tag team of all time and for good reason. And also very similar to Edging Christian,
very similar to Matt and Jeff. But Bubba and Devon also had amazing careers on their own.
Like great singles careers. Bullie Ray as TNA World Champion, like did some amazing work,
the stuff with ACEs and AIDS, like great, great stuff.
so Dudley boys.
And then it always comes down to the last spot.
And then you pick a team where you pick a person and people go,
oh, what about so and so?
What about so and so?
Well, this is my list.
Okay?
This is my list.
And of course, I'm going to leave somebody off of this list that is in your head right now.
And for that, I apologize.
I'm sorry.
But I think we've got to pick a modern day tag team as well.
And again, huge respect to the Hardy Boys who are still doing it, who are still doing it now, just crushing it in TNA.
But we're going to go with a modern tag team here.
I'm going to go with the new day.
Over a decade with no breakup.
What a storyline.
Of course, they turned on Biggie.
It was devastating.
But for Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston to just keep doing their thing.
Amazing. 12-time tag team champions in WWE. They are the longest reigning WWE tag teams in history,
483 days. Out of New Day, we got Kofi Mania, we got Big E with a solo run. I love what they're
doing now. And it just seems like every week they're putting a little more spice onto it.
Just another layer. And I just, I love it. And I'm very curious how long they'll go with
the heel run. Like they were great as baby faces. Bootios and new day rocks, new day rocks. Like so many
things they got over. They got a, they got a trombone over. Come on. They got a trombone over.
But I really would, I want to see this heel run out. I want to see this heel run run. Run its full
course. I can't wait to see what they do with this. So that that's my list there. And of course,
there's going to be different teams on your list and that's great but this is my list and a lot of
this I think also factors into like when did you start watching wrestling what were the the formative
tag teams during that time and I think there's a lot of factors that always go into a
Mount Rushmore question but there you go that's my answer and I feel like we get a Mount Rushmore question
like every other week they're so hard
they're so difficult.
Like, give me a month off of Mount Rushmore questions.
I feel like they're, they always end up going, like, what about this person?
What about this person?
Brandon Arroyo on Instagram.
Do you think that we're going to get El Grande versus Al Grande at WrestleMania?
And that is certainly an interesting proposition.
I've seen some comments online that Al Grande looks.
a little bit taller recently.
But I think there's just so much lore when it comes to El Grande
Americana.
We don't know a lot about this legendary luchador.
So maybe he has some different techniques that have allowed him to have his tattoos
removed or perhaps have his limbs get lengthened in various different ways.
He's still saying, graseous.
He's still speaking Spanish.
Grasias, gracias.
So, I mean, I don't understand the conspiracy theories that people were like, oh, well, Chad
Gable is out and injured.
So there goes the Al Grande Americano storyline.
Well, Al Grande Americano is still doing his thing.
So all the people that were trying to push this storyline and push this conspiracy theory
that Chad Gable was somehow Al Grande Americano, you probably feel pretty silly right now,
don't you?
But I'll follow your conspiracy theory.
And let's say that Chad Gable did have something to do with Al Grande Americano.
And let's follow this wild conspiracy theory down this rabbit hole and say that somebody else maybe is donning the mask right now.
Wild crazy. Seems unlikely. But we'll continue with this idea.
I don't think we're going to get Al Grande Americano versus Al Gros at WrestleMania 42 because
with great respect to everything is going on with it,
I would assume that Chad Gable is on to bigger and better things by April of 2026.
We know that he just recently had a shoulder surgery and he's healing up well.
And he's, man, he's just in phenomenal shape.
And I feel like if they told him it would take him six months to get back, he's going to say,
well, yeah, I'll see in three or four, whatever happens to be.
I think that when he comes back, the biggest thing that he's going to be focused on,
and it's the thing he's been focused on this entire year.
And he was saying this at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year,
he's like, I want to win singles gold this year.
And yes, I guess technically his good friend or his archdemesis or whatever El Grosne
Americano is to Chad Gable, yes, Chad Gable or Al Grande Americano won the speed championship.
but I think that Chad Gable is focused on winning singles goal, whether that's the United States
championship, and of course that would be an absolute perfect fit. Maybe it's the Intercontinental
championship. Maybe it's that world title. Maybe it's the title that Gunther has. Maybe at some point
down the line, he's wrestling for the WWE championship. But I think that the odds of seeing
El Grande Americano versus Al Grasne Americano down the line, I just don't see it happening.
I'm very interested to see what the payoff is in all of this.
And do they keep going with this?
Do they keep going with the taller version or the, sorry, the taller version, just the
taller El Grosene Americano?
Do we get a different El Grande next week or the week after?
And then where does this end up going?
like now we have the real possibility of like you've heard the joke of like oh i've never seen
chad gable and el grande americano in the same place at the same time well we could see that now
like that that's a real possibility when chad gable comes back and maybe that's what the return is
maybe el gronde americano goes out there for a match and chad gable's music hits and then we get
some magic but i'm very interested to see what the payoff is here
Tiffer Burns on Instagram says,
Hey, Chris, why are eliminated wrestlers in the Royal Rumble
allowed to pull guys out and eliminate them?
First one that came to mind was Sid Justice eliminating Hogan way back when.
Also, where did your wife go to high school?
I went to Newton High, class of 2000.
Dominic's Pizza is the best in the area.
Well, I agree with that.
I agree with that.
Sussex County, New Jersey.
Dominic pizza is fantastic.
My wife, Rachel, RVV, actually worked at Dominic's pizza when she was in high school.
So there is a chance here that she served you pizza at some point in time at Dominic.
That's crazy.
What a small world this is.
So you went to Newton High.
She went to Kittitinni.
So like close, very close in proximity, but different schools.
Why are eliminated wrestlers in the Royal Rumble allowed to pull guys out and eliminate
them. There's not a lot of rules in the Royal Rumble. And I'm with you. Like, you can also, like,
why are people on the outside, like using weapons and doing other nefarious things. Really, when it
comes to the Royal Rumble, it's like you've got to enter the ring. And then if you go over the top
rope and both feet hit the ground, you're eliminated. That's pretty much it. Like, I feel like there's
been a lot of other instances where, like, the cronies come out and help and, like, help you eliminate.
other people or help you take out other people when they're on the outside. I agree with you.
I mean, when it really comes down to the Royal Rumble match and it's so fun. And if you've never been to
a Royal Rumble live and it is coming near you, you've got to go. Like it is, it's so fun to be
there live, especially when you're counting down 10, 9 all the way down and everybody does the
buzzer sound themselves. It's fun.
But when it really comes down to the Royal Rumble match, it's like really just about like five-ish people in there.
And yeah, you get some fun moments.
Like you always get the fun moments of like, I'll give you some examples just off the top of my head.
Like Santino's quick elimination or I show speed getting speared in half by Bronbreaker.
Like you always get these fun moments.
Kofi's saves.
like there's always those
but like when it really just comes down to like
is it going to be one of these
three to four people who are likely to win
so you've got like the fun eliminations
the fun like storylines that start to build
within this and then like who's gonna win
and there's a lot of people that are just in there
and their moment is just like
their music hitting their entrance
the first five to
15 seconds that they spend in the ring
and then it's like, well, that person's not going to win.
But cool that their music hit.
It's kind of what the Royal Rumble comes down to.
So there's a lot of shenanigans that happen in here.
But man, Tiffer Burns, small, small world.
Like, as you know, Sussex County, New Jersey is not like a huge area.
And the fact that you guys went to like basically rival high schools, that's crazy.
Servando.
Sanchez underscore on Instagram says,
is interviewing a skill that you practice
with everyday social interactions?
That's an interesting question.
I heard a quote years ago,
and it stuck with me to this day.
I think about it all the time.
It's the idea that you should be interested
instead of trying to be interesting.
And I think that so often we're trying to be interested.
We're trying to just like, for lack of a better term, like it happens in wrestling all the time,
you're trying to get your stuff in.
You try to tell your version of the story.
We all know that person.
They're the one-upper.
We all know a one-upper.
You tell a story of, oh, man, I went to Raw last week, and I sat in the 10th row,
and they're like, oh, that's cool.
Well, last time I went, I sat in the 7th row.
or like, oh yeah, I went to, I wanted this trip to Hawaii and I stayed there for four days.
It was great. Oh, that's cool. Last time I went to Hawaii, I stayed for a week and a half.
We all know the one upper. We all know them. And I think that instead of trying to be interesting,
if you can just be interested, you go so much further in life. And I think about that all the time with interviews of like,
I mean, I'm genuinely just an interested person.
Like, I'm genuinely a very curious person.
And I think that I'm so incredibly grateful that I get to do what I get to do with the podcast and with the interviews and all of that.
But I think it's because it stems from this idea of like, I'm just naturally curious.
Like, I was the kid in school who would like take apart my pen and look at all the different components and figure out, oh, okay, so the spring goes here.
and okay, so that's pushing up against this thing.
That's always been who I am.
Like, just breaking things down.
And that's why, like, so much of what we do with the interviews in the show is, like,
reverse engineering, like, all right, so you were at this stage in your life and this happened,
well, that ended up leading to this.
And, like, reverse engineering, like, we all just see the finished product so often,
especially on social media.
We see the actor holding the Oscar.
We see the winning team holding up the Stanley Cup or the Lombardi Trophy or whatever it happens to be.
You see the wrestler with the championship.
So often we don't see the stumbles along the way.
We don't see all the work that goes into that.
And that's so much of what I'm interested by.
And also, I think the most important thing when it comes to interviewing is listening.
Like it's asking a question and then just stop.
talking and then genuinely listening, like actively listening to the answer to the question that
you just asked. And I think that it's a difficult skill to master and I'm working on it every single
day. And I'm certainly working on it with every single interview. And I go back to interviews from
months ago. And I go, oh, man, I could have done a better job with this or with that or whatever.
And I think that that's an important thing to like look back and be.
trying to make improvements on it. But like, I think that it's a, it's something that takes a while
to be able to do. And it sounds so simple, but it is so hard to do of like, just listen.
Like, just be quiet and actually listen. Like, if you bumped into someone at a grocery store
or you bumped into them, you met up with them at a party and you hadn't seen them in months,
you'd be genuinely interested in what have they been up to.
And then they mentioned something about, I don't know,
their kid.
Oh, really?
Oh, wow.
What are they doing now?
Like, you would naturally, it would naturally lead to other things in the conversation.
And I think that so often interviews are like,
they're thought of with a capital I.
Like, they are interviews.
Like, it's a big, bold word.
Because in your everyday life,
you're not doing interviews. Like in your everyday life, yeah, maybe you have a job interview and those can be
pretty scary. Maybe you're being like, I don't know, hopefully not, but you're interviewed by the
police. Like these are big scary things. So I think the term interview can be a bit of a scary
word in a lot of ways. But if you start to think of them as just conversations, then it changes
everything. And I think about that a lot. Like, I think about today as I got to this hotel in an
Uber. I had a great conversation with my Uber driver. He dresses up as Santa. He dresses up as
Santa in December. And it's funny, his little profile photo on Uber was him like with the red hat on
and the white beard. And when like when I walked up to the car with my luggage, he's like, Chris? And I'm like,
Santa? He's like, yeah, that's me. It just led to this great conversation. So I think about that a lot
with whether it's the waiter that's taking your order or it's the person at the grocery store
that's, you know, you're spending a few minutes with them as they're ringing up all your
items. I just try to like, I'm fully aware that we all have a story. Like all.
of us have a story. And it's so easy sometimes to just be like, oh, that's just the cashier. That's
just the Uber driver. That's just the bus driver. That's just the whatever it happens to be.
And I just try to think about who's the person behind that job title? Who's that person when they
get off work when they go home to their family? Is that person a husband, a wife, a mother, a father,
a brother, a sister.
I think about that stuff a lot.
So I don't know if it's like I'm not practicing interview skills,
but I'm just thinking about like the human interactions that are occurring.
And I think that so often we are head down, buried in our phones.
I'm certainly guilty of that myself.
But I think it's so easy to forget that these are other people,
not just in our everyday life that we are like actually seeing out and about in the world,
but I think it's so easy to forget that on social media,
that these are other humans.
And it's so easy to just like spew hate and like vitriol and just like say the most negative things.
And I think it's important sometimes to remember that like on the other side of that
is a human being that is holding this phone in their hand and reading that.
So I just think about that a lot.
What a deep answer that was.
I didn't even really thought that through, but I guess that's really a lot of the process there.
But that, my friends, is the final question on this.

We must all suffer from one of two pains, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.
The difference is discipline weighs ounces, while regret weighs tons.
Be great and be grateful, my friends.

Why? Because I have a job to do.
With rapid fire takes.
So I don't want to hear from you lava pigs on this notion today.
No idea what you're talking about.
You're complaining more than you like to breathe air.
It's like you get up in the morning only to complain and cry and moan on social media
about things that you don't even understand.
He's the spitfire of sports smack.
