Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Van Flee!
I have to say I'm a huge pop punk fan.
So the Wonder Year is doing your theme song?
Amazing.
How good is that song?
Oh, man.
I love it, man.
I love it.
Like, when Dan, he first started off by telling me the lyrics and I was like, you know,
and there was a few tears as well, you know.
I was like, God.
Oh, what lyrics hit you?
And then, well, the lyric about my dad, which is, I talk to your ghosts every night in my sleep.
It's a reference to my dad.
And, you know, he has little Easter eggs about like you brew the day or they'll rue the day and burn it down and watch something better grows.
Like, it's all little references to my family.
Yeah.
And so got me, got me good.
And then I heard it all together.
And I was like, oh, damn.
How did that come together because not a lot of WWU superstars get an outside band to be able to do their theme song?
Fear determination.
Oh, God, it was a bit of a struggle.
I was thinking of coming back and I was like, you know, I just don't feel like my entrance music represents me anymore.
You know, it's so pop.
You probably didn't represent me for about seven years, six years, maybe seven years.
Didn't feel, it always felt too happy.
Happy go lucky.
And so I reached out to Dan Campbell from the Wonder Years and I was like, if I can get it through,
is there any chance you guys would be interested in writing me a new theme song?
And instantly he wrote back, guess hell yes.
And he got to work.
And I was like, okay, but let me just clear it through Hunter.
and then they have ways of doing things
where they want their guys to write the song
and then the other band does the cover.
Dan was already too far gone
and I was already too in love with his song
that it ended up being a whole thing
but we got it done, we got it done, we got it done.
There was a lot of phone calls and a few fights, but we got it done.
You were already friends with the Wonder Years.
Yes.
How did that come about?
From Colby.
Oh.
AKA Seth freaking rolling.
Yeah.
So he, um...
Your hot husband.
My hot husband.
He, he...
I,
I wasn't really in on the pop punk scene at all.
I'm mostly a 90s grunge kid and, uh, 70s rock and the Beatles and Dylan.
You know, that's kind of my more...
what I tend to listen to.
And he would play his music.
And most of the time I was like,
oh,
he's like, that's whiny, nasly voices.
Jesus.
Shoot me in the head, you know?
And I'm sitting there going,
and then he puts on the Wonder Years
and, uh,
the ocean grew hands to home me,
came on.
And I was like, oh, damn,
that, but that guy,
that guy's,
oh, this band.
And then he played me more.
And I was like, oh, oh, I love this.
I love this guy.
And then we were supposed to get married in 2020.
The pandemic happened and all that.
And for a, for the day that we were supposed to get married,
Colby surprised me with having Dan make cover of song,
Fala Ammo by Bring Me the Horizon,
which is a song that Colby played me when we were first getting together.
And then Dan did the cover and it was all lights out.
And that became our wedding song.
And you may have seen on Unreal, we put the phone in a bowl.
And that was the one song that we had at our wedding.
And yeah.
That's sweet.
And then we've become family friends with the Campbells and they're great.
Our kids play together, go to Disneyland together.
It's just a great time.
Kids museums.
Is it true at one point?
MC Hammers, you can't touch this.
Was your interesting?
Sure was.
Hell yeah, can you think of it?
That's, you know, if it's not going to be the wonder years, I can't think of a better entrance theme.
This was on the Indies, right?
This was on the Indies.
What an entrance theme.
What an entrance theme.
How did nobody else do that?
How was I the only one?
Were you doing the- Everybody should have done it.
Were you doing the Hammer Pan's dance?
No, I should have.
But, you know, I did like running man and all that kind of jazz.
Yeah, terrible dancing.
That was kind of my gimmick in the Indies and I guess early in my wrestling career.
Why do you feel like you had a disconnect from your theme song for, what, seven years, like you said?
Well, it's just so happy, you know?
And your character's not?
No.
You're happy when you win championships.
The man was in no way happy at any point.
And big time back, she was a psychopath.
And now this iteration.
What's the name of this iteration?
You're still the man.
I'm still the man and I'm still big time backs.
The big time man.
We'll work on it.
We'll work on it.
Taking suggestions.
Yeah.
So is this new version like
WrestleMania 41 to now?
Is that what you're saying?
Like the return to now?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
When I came back, I felt like I had a bunch of fire in my belly, you know?
And I feel like this song reflects it, you know?
And I feel, well, I feel like that's up.
I've always kind of been a bit like that.
I think the early part of my career, I was just like, oh, you'll put me on TV.
Oh, great.
I get to wrestle.
Oh, great.
Yes, yes, yes.
Then I got a bit more like, okay, but how do we do this the best?
How do we tell the best stories?
How do we get the best match?
What's the best?
Okay, who do I got to fight to get the best, you know?
Where were you at in your headspace before the return?
What was going on?
What was going on?
It took some time.
You know, I felt like I was starting to spin my,
wheels. I felt like, uh, I felt like the audience was kind of done with me a little bit, you know,
they might not have been, but that's what I felt. I felt like there wasn't, um, you know, I was
on this baby face run. Just didn't feel like it was hidden, didn't feel like they wanted me
to go further, you know, felt like they wanted me to take a step back. So I said, okay, I've,
I've, I'm, I'm kind of tired. I've just done, I've been raising a child on the road for the last three years.
as well as writing my book and wrestling every week and doing all these things.
Like, maybe it's a, and my contract was up.
So I was like, okay, this is, this is a good, this is a good point to stop.
And I told Hunter, I said, look, I'm stepping away.
I'm not going anywhere else.
But I just need some time.
And he was great about it.
He was like, hey, okay, all right, look, but let's just extend your contract.
so you can at least get paid.
Which was just so nice of him.
Because I was like, I'm not going anywhere.
I promise.
I think you promise.
And he was like, yeah, but you might as well get paid while you're doing it.
And I was like, all right.
So that was very nice.
So I got, and I thought it would be like three months.
It ended up being a little bit longer than three months.
10 months, I think it ended up be.
But, yeah, that's why, what happened?
Did that answer the question?
Yes.
Okay, yeah, yeah.
Was the break to, I mean, you had some acting roles during that time?
And then, yeah, yeah, I just, you know, like, it was mostly like, okay, let me just be at home.
Let me enjoy my home and my child and be there for her and take her to all her classes.
And let's have a steady life for a second.
Let's try this out.
How is this?
Oh, it's very nice.
And then acting roles came up.
So then I was doing Star Trek and I was doing.
Happy Gilmore and then we got the pilot for movies and did that.
And so there was there was there was there was all the things.
My daughter's a little younger than yours,
but I am so abundantly aware that little kids are only little kids for so long.
Oh man, every phase.
It just goes by so quick.
And we were so lucky to have her on the road for so long with us, you know,
that we we didn't miss any of those phases.
That we were never, we were never gone for that long.
It was only when I started doing NXT as well.
That was the other thing.
I was on three different brands.
I was the NXT Women's Champion.
Then I was brought to Smackdown to do some Survivor Series.
And I was writing my book and promoting my book.
And, you know, so it was a lot.
And then Colby got, he was, he got injured, had to get that knee scope.
The real injury.
A real one.
And he, yeah, he had to get that knee scope.
So then he was at home.
And so then I was missing out.
So then when I would come home, I felt like, oh, my little muffins little angry with me.
Like, you know, she's like, why's my mom a gone?
What's the balance look like?
Because it's WWE.
It's acting.
The new coffee brand.
Congratulations on that.
Thank you very much.
It's being a mom.
It's also staying in shape.
And it's getting rest.
So what's the balance look like?
I'm tired.
And doing stuff like this.
Yeah, I don't.
I don't know that there is balance, is there?
Is there ever balance?
You know, I think the schedule now helps a lot.
We do TV one day a week, you know?
We don't have the live events that we used to.
I mean, the beginning of this year was insane.
We had European tour.
I was also filming Star Trek.
We had Saudi Arabia.
So that was pretty intense.
but other than that week to week is is pretty easy you know we don't we're not gone very often
we're gone for one sleep in her eyes and yeah and then the other stuff you know you just try to
try to make it all try to make it all work wedge it in here I mean I need sleep yes
I need sleep and I but I think that there's this idea of like get my sleep wherever I can
But I think there's this idea of like, oh, you know, I'll sleep when I'm dead or like, oh, no, not me.
I feel you.
Like, are you eight hours a night?
Oh, I, I need my eight hours.
Like, I can do a few weeks of four to six, maybe like, a few weeks.
I can do like two and then that's it.
Then I got it, then I got to go back to, I got to bank some sleep.
Like, I need a good like 10 to 12 hours.
And then I can go back to my eight.
But I love something.
Colby doesn't need sleep.
He needs food.
I don't necessarily need food as much.
I need sleep.
You know, one of us gets cranky when we don't get fed.
The other gets cranky when they don't get sleep.
But coffee is the common denominator.
And coffee is the common denominator.
And coffee's life.
And he doesn't even need coffee for the energy.
He just needs coffee for the life,
for just the taste, the love of it, the passion.
I need it for both.
You know, I love it as an experience.
It's my thing in the morning.
You know, I get to sit there, have my coffee.
coffee, sit by the window, drink my espresso, enjoy the world, enjoy the peace, enjoy the quiet.
Or whenever we're on the road, we get to try all of these amazing coffee shops all over
the world, the best coffee. And now we get to bring our taste pellet to the world.
So it's not just a passion for drinking coffee. Now you guys are like, let's find our own,
let's attach our names to it, and call this ammo. Yes. Congrats. Love. Ammo. Yeah.
Yeah, and it's, it's born out of love, you know.
It's a love for coffee.
It's love for each other.
It's love for the fans.
Because I think the world can definitely use some more love.
I agree with that.
So where can people find it?
Enjoyamow.com.
So we haven't launched the website.
I think we're about like 20 days out.
And then they'll be able to buy it online.
You'll be able to get your first.
By the time this comes out,
I think people will already have had their first taste at World of Coffee in San Diego.
And by the time this comes out, I think you will also be able to get some samples,
WWE World.
Okay. Sounds great. I thought you might come in here, you know, just with a gallon of it.
You know, I don't have any product in my hands right now because we're saving it all for
a world of coffee. Oh, I love that. Yeah. Okay. How do you feel about wrestling now versus,
say, 20 years ago when you were starting to get into it?
how do I feel about it? Gosh, I still love it in the same way. I suppose it's a different love, right?
Like when I started in it, I never imagined that anything would have happened from it.
I didn't go in with any notions that I was going to be a WWE superstar.
That was way beyond the realms of possibility. I just went in because I loved it.
And it was, I was going to get in shape doing this thing.
and I remember stepping in the ring for the first time
and just how it lit me up
and when I step in the ring now I light up in the same way
and even if all the things around it can be frustrating
the creative process whatever else the exhaustion
the balancing act
even if that is all
weighing on you when it comes to
the craft and the idea
of how can we tell the best story.
It all just lights me up in the same way.
You know?
And so, yeah, I love it.
I love, I love, I love thinking about it.
I love putting it together.
I love sitting down and writing a promo,
putting a match together,
or what's going to get the people the most excited.
Yeah, and I think there is something about having
ticked everything off your bucket list for the most part,
is that you come back to, all right, why do I do this?
It's just, it's for these people.
It's for these people that pay their hard-earned money to come and see me or who are sitting at home who takes the time to sit down and watch three hours of Smackdown or two and a half hours of rods, you know?
Isn't it so interesting how goals can change?
Like when you're getting into it, I just want to have a match.
And then it turns into I want to have a match in front of this money people.
Then I want to sign a contract somewhere.
I want to wrestle in another country.
Like, they keep building on each other.
And now I feel like you've done all of the things you could have ever possibly imagined.
Yeah, but it's, and it all just comes down to this one basic thing, these four sides, this,
this ability to communicate with an audience to, yeah, to a community.
It's such a community, you know?
And wrestling is like this little village, I think, of, of Sammy Zane and Kevin Owens and how,
I remember the three of us on a bus in Italy in 2006.
And now we have all main event at WrestleMania.
And we're still here.
And we're still pretty damn good.
And we're doing the thing.
And that's the great part of wrestling,
like the friendships that you make,
the lives that you impact from just this thing that you love.
When do you feel like it started clicking for you?
When do you feel like the audience started responding to what
were doing. You know, I don't know. I suppose that's a gradual thing. Like, when did it really
click with me in terms of wrestling? I don't know. Maybe 2018? 2000, 2021? I don't know.
Crazy like 15-ish years in? I don't know. I think I think I'm constantly evolving and constantly
getting it. Learning how to craft everything.
better. And I don't, you know, it's funny. I don't think that people's perception of when you were
your best is actually when you were at your best in terms of craft. You know, it's, I suppose it's an
energy. It's a, it's a thing that, a fervor that people can get behind. But I think is,
in terms of my understanding of everything, yeah, I think that's constantly evolving. But I don't
remember a time when I was like, oh, now I have it. You know, I think it's constant.
because everything's changing.
The audience is changing.
How we interact with the audience is constantly changing, constantly evolving.
And I think you have to kind of be forever updating your repertoire.
Or also, you know, sometimes I just go, what do I want to do?
What artistic thing do I want to do?
How do I want to unleash my creativity?
But yeah, I don't know.
I think I was always able to connect with the crowd.
I think that was something innate.
I think there's a,
I'm a bit hard on my sleeve.
And I think that has allowed me to connect to people.
Like vulnerability has never been a thing that I've shied away from.
If you meet me and you ask me how I'm doing,
I won't, I'm incapable of lying to you.
I'm like, you'll be able to see it in my eyes.
So yes, here's what I'm, here's how I'm doing.
I didn't sleep good last night.
My child was upset with me this morning.
You know, like, I'll just, you know, it all comes out.
And I think, but I think that's been a little bit of a blessing in terms of wrestling.
Man, WrestleMania is here.

Had conversations about wrestling sound at home.
Did you guys talk about work at home?
Non-stop.
Yeah, yeah, no.
Some couples don't.
Some couples don't.
We do.
Yeah, I think we're, we're,
both love it. We're both constantly analyzing it. We're constantly trying to improve it, improve what we're doing,
trying to figure out if what we're doing is good or, you know, will this hit? Why won't this hit? Why is this
working? Why is that not working? So we're constantly analyzing it. Yeah. How hard? Can't hide away from it.
How hard was it to lie about Seth's injury leading up to SummerSlam?
Not heard to the public, right? And I mean that.
with love for everybody, but like that's what we do.
Yeah, sure.
The job is, is, is, is acting.
Before I'm letting you in on a story.
Here is the story that we were telling.
To our friends and family, that was a little bit trickier.
Yeah, yeah, that was, that was the heart part.
So who knew?
Rue.
She knew.
Um, a few of our friends, a few of our friends and family.
My mom knew.
I let my mom know.
She wasn't going to tell the dirt cheats.
His mom knew.
Yeah, but the worst part was, you know, like I had people texting me.
Bianca was texting me.
She was like, I think, I think Colby got hurt.
Do you want me to go check on him?
And I was like, no, that's okay.
I'm sure I'll text me back whenever he is ready.
That's such a bad liar.
She was like, oh, am, are you sure?
Oh, wait, no.
I think this might be work now.
Never mind. I'll stop asking.
Sorry.
There were videos online of people like slowing down the footage, like frame by frame.
You can see his knee buckles right there.
Did it?
Isn't that the great thing about the wrestling audience?
They just really care, man.
They're passionate.
They want to know.
They want to know.
They'll analyze it.
Do you think that that cash in, the ruse of the century,
is better than the heist of the century?
I feel like the
Heist of the century
was just so special
You know
Yeah to take over a main event
To take over a main event
And he had that bangor
I was there in the crowd
In the audience
Last time absolute joke
A J. Lee wrestled
Actually at a WrestleMania
I was there
In the audience
I remember watching
Him versus Randy Orton
And being like
Oh my God
This match is incredible
Holy crap
Next year I want to be in there
Spoiler I was
And then
And then, and then, you know, Brock and Roman were having this great match and you had forgotten all about.
And then he came down.
It was just such, it was such a perfect way to end WrestleMania.
It was really, really spectacular.
And for him to have two all-time great WrestleMania moments within hours of one another?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes.
He's good, that guy.
Right?
The stopping of the RKO followed a few hours later by the heist of the century.
Yeah.
It's pretty good that guy.
Yeah, he's pretty good.
Pretty decent. Yeah, I think he has a future.
Yeah, he might. He might.
Do you share the same disdain for AJ Lee that your husband has for CM Punk?
Ah, I suppose not on that level. Like that's, I just want her gone. To me, she's like a fly.
Gotta get rid of it. Get out of here. Nobody wants you. Nobody wanted you back. Be gone.
You weren't here for me while I was, when I was wrestling, when I was coming up.
So I don't want you now saying she's proud of me.
She wasn't proud of me when she left.
She was scared of me.
That's what happened.
She was scared of me.
She saw it in my eyes.
She saw the fire.
She went, bye-bye.
So long.
But then, you know, she didn't go out and say crap about me for years.
It was a little bit different.
So maybe a strong dislike.
A strong dislike.
Maybe not hatred.
Distine.
Yeah.
thin line.
It's just right there.
Yeah.
It's easy to hop over there, you know.
Yeah.
Well, you can tell there's,
you guys don't like each other.
Yeah.
But with your husband and Sam Punk,
it feels like maybe it's on a different level.
Maybe a different level.
There is, there is more history there.
There is definitely more history.
There's less history with us.
Yeah.
There's just her coming in thinking she's hot shit.
This is my, this is my place,
my domain.
go away now.
Be gone.
You were gone for 10 years.
Nobody wants you back.
Nobody.
Not one person.
Not one single person wants you back.
I think the reaction when she came back might say different.
I think that was shock.
You know, they're like, oh, ah, it's yourself.
You're back.
All right.
You know, it's like if you haven't seen somebody in 10 years and they walk in the door and you,
God, look at you.
John.
How you doing?
It's been a while.
All right.
I suppose I'll be going.
I don't think so.
But maybe.
Perhaps.
You're not out there in the arena.
I am.
I have been in some of those arenas.
Well.
Not in the middle of it.
Okay.
Yeah.
Maybe.
Next to the people.
All right.
Maybe you were hearing different things.
Maybe you were sitting beside her family or something.
Perhaps.
You know, she has had home field advantages.
I haven't had any home field advantages.
That's true.
No home field advantage.
for me.
Who has the home field advantage in Las Vegas?
Oh, that's me.
How's that?
Because WrestleMania is my home.
Okay.
This is my 10th WrestleMania.
That makes it an anniversary, which makes it special.
10th WrestleMania.
10th WrestleMania.
That's amazing.
Started WrestleMania 32.
Here we are, 42.
Incredible.
And I missed one.
Because of a child.
Well.
So, anyway, the 10.
Good reason to miss it.
Yeah, yeah.
Great reason.
Best reason.
Which are the ones that stand out the most for you?
35 seems obvious.
35 special for obvious reasons.
WrestleMania 38 is my favorite
WrestleMania match that I've had
personally against Bianca Bel Air.
And then WrestleMania 32
are probably my top three.
32 because it was your first one?
Yeah, but also, you know, what that meant,
what that match meant.
We got rid of that stupid butterfly belt
that AJ Lee is so proud of.
go rid of that crap.
We brought in the women's title.
And so it was really ushering in a new era.
And I know we say that a lot.
But that one really was.
That was a game changer for women.
Like the way that they spotlight that match.
And dare I say, best match on the card.
And in front of 100,000 people.
In front of 100,000 people.
You recently said that this contract you're on right now is your final contract.
This is your final run.
I mean, I didn't say it with such assuredness as you did, right?
I said it's probably my last one.
I don't know if he said probably.
I think I said, this is likely my last one.
That's not as sure.
But yeah, no, it might be, could be.
What makes you feel that way?
Because, I don't know, it could be longer,
but you never want to outstay.
You're welcome.
Although, you know, I'm in my prime.
I can go.
plenty left in the tank.
But I also have my daughter at home.
That maybe,
and maybe I'll want another one, you know?
And at some point, yeah,
I have to just be happy with what you've done, you know?
But again, the love of what I do,
that's not going anywhere.
But, you know, there's a lot that goes in around it and behind it.
Yeah, I suppose you never want to just leave spinning your wheels.
You always want to move up.
But again, that's also not true because sometimes I just go, what do I want to do?
What would I think is fun?
Maybe nobody else will, but this is what I want to do.
This is what I'm happy doing.
Well, what do you want to do?
Well, it's fun to tell good stories.
I want to have good matches.
I want to make sure that the business is better when I leave it than how I found.
it. And, you know, I know that what I have done is prove that women could be the biggest
stars in this company. And they are and can be. I think sometimes we need to fight to make
sure we're positioned as such. Because you can be a huge name. But if you're not positioned
in the main event, it's very easy when we condition the audience that this person's the main event.
this person's the main event, this person's the main event,
that we see them as the main event.
When we don't condition the audience,
then it becomes a little bit harder.
And for the last few years,
I think we've,
for the most part,
those main events have gone to
two, maybe three,
four dudes constantly.
I think we need to change that again.
I think we need to,
I don't know what that means,
whether that means fighting a bit more,
whether to me or somebody else,
I do think we need to get our backs up a little bit again.
You seem to be in a good spot now where it's okay for you to not be chasing after that
world title.
Yeah.
Like you've done a lot with the Intercontinental Championship.
It actually reminds me of like when John Cena did a lot with the U.S. title.
Yeah.
Was that a conscious move to not be at the top of the card?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Who do I want to work with?
Who can I help?
how can I put some eyes on something that's not getting so many eyes.
And of course, that comes with the help of the creative team.
It's not me doing it by myself, you know.
But yeah, when I get to do that, that's the stuff that I find the most interesting.
There was this idea online that you don't put people over.
Oh, yeah, no, I'm terrible at that.
Oh, yeah.
I'd like to go through the list of all the people you've
I'm horrible. No, no, no, I don't put people over.
Liv Morgan, Bianca Bel Air, Ria Ripley, Maxine Dupree,
Zoe Stark, Lyra Valcaria.
So I don't know where this idea comes from.
Yeah, that's it.
Yeah, the only people that are put over.
These are recent ones.
Okay.
I don't know.
I think that's when you're the top car.
Anybody happens to everybody.
You know, nobody is unscathed.
It was Sammy Hogan.
It might still be Sam.
It's Coney Hogan. It's Cody Hogan. It's Roman Hogan. Seth Hogan. We're all Hogan. Which, you know, say what you will about the man. One of the biggest stars to ever exist. So, yeah, I think it becomes this thing. People don't understand how creative happens. And if they see somebody that is in a preferable spot for a long period of time, they go, okay, that's because that person is.
politicking and trying to hold everybody down.
And I am.
But you know what I mean?
So, you know, it's just people don't know how it happens and they don't know what goes into
it.
And that's fine, you know, and they're entitled to have their opinions.
I want you to have your opinions.
Have your opinions.
Go on.
Go nuts with your opinions.
And I'm just going to do what I do.
And how you feel about me is how you're going to feel about me.
I think it's because people see what they see on Raw.
They see what they see on SmackDown.
and they don't see what goes on the other six and a half days of the week. You know what I mean?
Yeah. No, of course. Of course. And because I would, whatever you think, whatever you want to see,
let's go with it. You know, I don't want to stifle. I don't want to stifle how you feel.
If you feel like I'm a politicking egomaniac, great, how can I use that? How can I use that
to tell another story, to tell a story and help somebody else out? It's wonderful. It's
Perfect.
And that's what you're,
amazing.
That's what you're leaning into now.
Yes.
Right?
Sports Illustrated says.
Sports Illustrated says, it's not me saying.
I am the greatest of all time.
It's not like I'm making that up.
Yeah.
Sports Illustrated.
Sports Illustrated.
The Bleacher board says it.
Everybody says it.
Everybody says it.
Do you prefer working as a heel?
Of course.
Is that the answer just across the board?
Most people seem to prefer like.
Yeah.
You know, I think you have some people that
are going to tend to veer more towards being a face.
Like,
Eo, you know,
what a,
what a baby face,
you know,
she's so lovable.
She's a great baby face.
I don't know,
maybe she has more fun as a heel,
but,
I don't know,
she's just so suited to be in a baby face.
So,
yeah,
but you get so much freedom when you're a heel.
Like,
there's nothing you can't do.
There's,
there's,
if they boo you,
that's what,
I want.
Yeah.
They cheer you.
Well, you're too good at being back.
But if they boo you in your baby face, then you just feels like you suck at your job.
And that's not necessarily the case.
Yeah.
It's just the, that's just the pattern of the wave, man.
It all goes in waves, you know.
They love you, and then they're over you, and then they come back to you.
And then they're like, oh, they're staying consistent.
I'm sick of their consistency.
It just goes like that.
And that's just the nature of the beast.
It's great. It's a wild time.
I feel like you've had a lot of freedom on the mic.
And you've had a lot of fun moments on the mic.
Like you talking to Nikki Bella recently.
I feel like there were some moments there.
It's like, ooh, okay, that's like, we get what you're saying here.
But like, that's some serious stuff.
The John Cena comment?
The John Cena comment.
Just in general.
Yeah.
Screw her.
She deserves it.
wench that she is.
It's great.
Oh, well, I don't know what lines you're referring to.
The line about John Cena's a good one.
But I feel like you on the mic, it feels like over the last,
maybe since the moment with the rock in the ring with Baron Corbyn.
It's like, you can have some fun here.
That's my favorite part.
I love getting on a microphone and talking, you know.
What do I want this audience to feel?
You know?
What wacky ways can I lead them?
And it'll always start with like a germ of an idea or one line.
And then how do I formulate like a thing to hand them to?
Hand off to them.
What will they do with it?
Is that going to be good?
Is it going to soft?
Is that generic?
Is that not generic?
Is that weird?
So when you get an idea,
or you just like writing in the note section of your iPhone and like,
if I ever work with that person, I've got this thing right here?
Yeah.
No.
And it usually won't be.
like specific to people, it'll just be like, oh, that'd be cool.
Oh.
Yeah.
What's been like, that's interesting.
What's been the most fun you've had going toe to toe with someone on the mic?
Oh, gosh.
I, I don't know.
Like, I don't know, man.
Yeah.
Bianca comes to my, but really like anybody, even, uh, even this absolute joke loser league.
You know, that's great.
Nasty Nikki, wonderful.
Like seeing Luzer Lyra come out of her show.
Even watching Moody Maxine progress.
You know, all of them, like getting to see them bring something out of themselves, you know,
because they're like, I don't want to be walked over here.
And she might do that.
But, you know, they step up to the plate and they bring it and I love it.
You had such an underrated moment backstage with Paul Heyman that I don't feel like it's enough love.
Oh.
You grab them by the tie.
You pull him in.
You're like whispering slash yelling, like a whisper yell in his ear.
And I just feel like that moment, like, summed up who you were at that time.
Also like the relationship with Seth Rollins, obviously, you know, that one speaks for itself.
But like, it was like a minute, maybe.
But it's like, damn, that was good.
Thanks.
Yeah, what did I call penguin face brick?
Yeah, penguin face brick.
Things I'd been wanting to say for a long time.
You know?
Well, that's the thing.
That's the beauty of it, you know?
You get to think these horrible things about people and then just vocalize it.
Yeah.
It's great.
How great is wrestling?
These are the worst things that I think about you,
and I'm just going to say them right to your face.
And your promos aren't just on TV.
Like, you're cutting promos on social media, too.
All the time.
Yes.
It's my favorite thing to do.
A lot of caps lock and.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love it.
How can we keep the story going?
That's the great thing.
Let's keep the story going.
Great thing about wrestling right now is like, it's not just Monday.
It's not just Friday or Saturday.
Like, everything counts now.
Yeah.
Something you say on this podcast could end up being something that gets worked into a
storyline. Something you say on X or Instagram could also be something that gets tied in. I think it's an
interesting time that we're at. It's an interesting world we live in, man. It really is interesting.
We're always on for better or for worse. That's, I think, the thing that's expected, for better or for
worse. Is there a time you wish you didn't have to be on? Yeah, but I think then I just don't be on. I'm just off then.
You're just, you then?
I can just not be on.
You know, nobody's forcing me to be on.
Sure.
I mean, I'll have to go to work and I'll have to, you know.
Right.
If I'm in a bad mood and then everybody will know
because I'm not good at hiding my emotions.
But, you know.
But yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, like you're just, yeah.
So it's a wacky world, you know.
Is it good?
I don't know.
Is it good?
It's good.
I don't know.
Is it good?
I think it's great.
You think it's great.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But you don't have to wait till Monday.
You know, there's no suspense.
Like, when you're watching House of the Dragon,
like, you don't get Deneerys.
Shoot and House of the Dragon.
Am I mixing up my Game of Thrones?
Why don't we just talk about Game of Thrones then?
Yeah.
I might be.
Actually, let's bring it back to something else.
You know, when you're watching the pit, you know, you're not expecting Noah Wiley to be live tweeting as Dr. Robbie.
You know what I mean?
You're not expecting vlogs of Dr. Robbie from week to week, you know, inside the hospital.
Is it so bizarre when you talk about it like that, though?
Yeah.
And when people say K-Fab's dead, it's like, mm, it's just evolved.
It has evolved, but it's also dead.
The fact that we know what K-Fabe is means it's dead.
And we have a show about it being dead.
There it is.
It's dead.
But it's okay.
But that show also talks about the things that happened three to six months ago.
And it's like, oh, okay, it's kind of like the making of, you know?
Sure.
And now we try to, but now it's like what is going to be the show?
shock factor. How can we get...
So you're saying there's storylines on unreal.
Right.
It's all curated, right?
I mean, sure, most of it's real, but you're only going to see what they want you to see.
You know, they're only going to say what they want to be heard.
Yeah.
You know, maybe not us because we don't know what's being recorded and we don't get a say in it.
But, you know, it's all curated.
So, yes, it has evolved.
And now we're trying to, I think, I don't know, I don't even know what's K-Fab and what's not K-Fape, but we're trying to shock people and what's going to get them talking.
But it is dead because we have wrestling journalists that want to know the secrets and then tell the secrets before the secret happens.
But people want to know and there's a curiosity.
and maybe we just, I don't know, instead of trying to regain whatever K-Fabe is, we just go with it.
We are Dr. Robbie, and here's me live tweeting in this hospital trying to cut into this person
who's like, God, you're not a real doctor. I don't know.
But K-Fabe is also Seth Rollins walking around on crutches for weeks.
Yeah, because that's what you have to do now to actually shock the people.
But that's what a wonderful surprise.
And what a wonderful surprise.
But then there was also people that are very upset by that surprise.
They're like we don't, we don't want people to, we don't want to feel like somebody is genuinely hurt.
We don't want to be saying our Hail Mary's.
And this person was fooling me the whole time.
Like I remember talking to a wrestler backstage.
And he was.
He was genuinely upset because he was concerned for his friend.
He thought his friend was hurt.
And some people were like, ha, ha.
I get the joke, but some people were genuinely upset.
Oh, wrestling.
The modern world.
When you had this segment with CM Punk in the ring,
you were laying those slaps in.
Sure it was.
Forward and backward and forward and backward again.
And then at some point, you're like ramming your head into his chest.
Yeah.
What went into this segment?
That.
Slap and piss up.
of them. Yeah. You did. I did. I didn't know what I was going to do. I knew that I was going to slap him.
And then whatever was going to happen after that was going to happen after that. And putting my
head into his chest was part of it. How many times do you think you slapped him? Oh my God. I would
love a slap count. Can we get a slap count?
We'll throw one up in this real right here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Many, many times.
Maybe 100?
No, could it have been 100?
20 maybe?
Over the course of a couple of days, because I did it twice, you know?
It wasn't just that day.
I did it the next week, too.
You could say it's because of you that AJ leaves back.
Well, of course it is.
Of course it's because of me.
Because I've made this beautiful place that she wants to come to.
I've created this wonderful WWE that everybody loves right now.
Yeah.
They really love it.
They're really high on it right now.
they love it. They love the product.
The ratings are really high.
Ticket sales are going great and everybody loves it.
And I created that.
So she's like, I want a piece of that.
Or because you assaulted her husband.
And he wasn't going to hit you.
But he knew someone who would.
Oh.
Yeah.
Mm.
Couldn't go toe to toe with me.
There's a whole playlist.
Keeps rumbling.
Hopefully you can't hit them.
Do you need something to eat?
Maybe I'll take a piece of this job.
Oh, would you like some more water as well?
Yeah.
Oh, it takes as much as you'd like.
A little water over here.
Yeah, I'll have some water as well.
I'm making myself at home, kick my feet up.
Oh, hello.
There's a whole WWE playlist of you attacking male superstars.
Oh, really?
Yes.
I didn't know this.
No, I didn't know this.
Oh, my goodness.
I'm going to pull this up.
Attacking.
Attacking, they said.
Is it not attacking?
As if it's unprovoked.
Is it, it's not attacking?
Ah, p.
Who do we got?
We got James Ellsworth in there.
I don't think he's in there.
He's not even in there.
He didn't make the cut.
All right.
Well, that would have been top of the list.
We got, who else do we got?
Triple H.
He's in there.
He got a slap.
CM Punk got a slap.
CM Punk got about 100 slaps.
Yeah.
Mike Bennett.
There's Mike Bennett in here.
He got a beaten.
Andrade may have gotten a beaten.
Dominic Mysterio.
Dominic Mysterio.
Oh, that was a good one.
Your husband, Seth Rollins, has had many masked individuals.
You were one of them.
I was one of them.
Yeah.
Was I the OG?
No.
No.
No.
Which is why I think people were like, oh, who could it be now?
O.G.
Were you the OG?
Paris, Paris, Paris, 2025?
Because then the storyline ends up being, yeah, into Survivor series.
You want to count the slaps here?
There's quite a few.
Here we go.
Okay.
I think.
Oh, yeah.
Or sure to be the other one.
No, no, no, no.
This one's good.
This one's good.
This one's good.
How do you feel about watching yourself?
I don't like it.
One.
Oh, that was good on two.
Through.
Two.
Three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fifteen, ten, eleven, twenty, eighteen, sixteen, eighteen, nineteen, eighteen, nineteen, nineteen, eighteen, nineteen, nineteen, eighteen, nineteen, een, ten, twenty, two, twenty, two, four, twelve, two, four.
There's the head.
I don't think we'll count that.
Three, forty, four, four.
Oh, my goodness.
Got to be close to 50.
I think that was it.
I think that's, I think that.
The way that my hand moves, it doesn't look real.
It's a paint brush.
I didn't know that I had reflexes.
The paintbrush.
You're paintbrush in his face.
It's amazing.
It looks AI.
It's fast.
It was very fast.
I am quick on my feet.
How has your time on Happy Go Moore 2 and Star Trek?
How has that helped you as a performer?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I think it's all just transferable skills, you know?
I don't know that one...
I mean, they both help each other, you know?
Yeah.
But it's just a transferable skill of being able to perform and tell a story and what's your role and know your lines.
I've heard The Rock talk a lot about in wrestling, you're doing it for the last person in the last row, right?
Mm-hmm.
And in cinema, it's right here.
Yeah.
Like it's small, it's subtle.
It's, you know, we're talking right here instead of like trying to talk to that person all the way at the top.
You feel that's the same?
However with like a Sandler comedy, it's broad and big, you know?
So that's a little bit different, I would say.
But yeah, no, it does.
Maybe that helps with backstages, you know, of being able to talk.
and projecting less.
Yeah.
But you know, you always got to be on voice.
Gotta give that full voice.
Strong voice.
How was your audition for Happy Gilmore?
Oh, yeah, that was a fun one.
They gave me a K-FAP script.
And it was two different roles.
So they gave me like a role of some guy.
Like I had to play this guy and then this girl.
And they just said, just do both of them.
So I, yeah, just, it's like, all right.
What would this character be like?
So you didn't even know...
This character would totally be from the Manosphere.
Yeah, okay, all right.
You didn't even know what role it was?
No.
Oh, wow.
Uh-uh.
No.
Yeah, yeah.
Is his set as fun as it looks like?
Oh.
Maybe more fun.
I remember the day that they told us we were rapping and I was like, no.
No, I'm still...
I'll be here for another couple of days.
You want me to...
You need...
Need coffee?
I bring some coffee.
I know the good coffee.
I didn't want to leave.
I didn't want to leave.
I loved it.
I loved it so much.
There were so many great cameos in that movie.
So many.
Who were you on set with on the days you were there?
Who was I on set with so people?
I was on there with all the golfers.
Okay.
So Roy, Macalroy.
Then obviously I was in my Benito,
my bunny.
We love him.
Were you there with him?
Eminem?
I wasn't there with Eminem.
Eminem was there the day after I...
Oh.
Yeah.
MJF, but now I'm just going into the main cast, I suppose.
But yeah, you know, you would cross past.
A lot of people.
Was it Adam Sandler that called you and said,
Hey, you got the job?
No, no, no, no.
It's my agent.
And then, so at what point do you meet Adam Sandler?
In the trailer on the first day.
It's like, Rebecca.
How are you?
Adam Sandler.
he's so nice.
He seems great.
He's so nice.
I've interviewed him for a bunch of movies, but I feel like I get him in interview mode.
Him when he's like movie making mode must be just fun.
Yeah, yeah, like it's fun and dialed in.
You know, it's not like he's out there taking the piss.
He is serious about his craft and he's doing it and he's, you know, running around and he's
looking at the takes and he's coming back and he's acting and he's,
ah, maybe it's not that line, maybe it's this line.
And, you know, he is, he is dialed in.
And then just also quick wit as can be, you know, ready to spout off a joke at any moment.
So are you auditioning with some frequency for TV roles or film roles?
Am I?
Like when they come, when they come to you, when the opportunities come about?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, semi.
Maybe not now.
No.
No, I haven't really, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, like I've, I've, I've, I've not, you know, like some stuff will come in and you're like,
I don't know that that, I don't know that that role is for me or, you know what I mean?
I don't know that I, like, okay, that films in Montreal.
All right.
Well, do I want to move to Montreal for six months?
And my daughter is in school.
Okay, maybe we, maybe that's not the one that you go for.
You know what I mean?
So you kind of have to balance all of it with.
being a full-time wrestler and full-time mom and wife and do you do you have the ideal role
coffee company do you have the ideal role you'd love to get one day no I don't think so I think I think
there's no one ideal role it's whatever is interesting it's whatever you know yeah what and it's the
same with wrestling like who do I who do I want to be you know what what's
stories do I want to tell what? And sometimes I think I'm like, what characters do I want to
embody? How can I maybe, I don't know, hold up a mirror to society and say, wow, this is what
can happen. Somebody gets a bunch of power and they go crazy and they're an egotistical maniac that
want to hold people down and deny any wrongdoings or lie and be full of corruption, but
point the finger at other people and call them corrupt.
Like, what would that look like?
Have we ever seen anything like that happening in the world?
I don't know.
I'm still talking about Becky Lynch.
Yeah, exactly.
I'm talking about Becky Lynch.
You know what I mean?
Like, how does that character look?
Do I want to embody that?
Do I want to delve into that?
What does that look like?
You know?
So, yeah, so it's things like that.
What characters are going to be interesting?
What stories do I want to tell?
It's the same wrestling.
Have you been bitten by the acting bug?
I mean, I did my degree in acting.
I love acting.
I love performing.
I love anything that is a communication between audience and performer.
I love that.
I love that medium.
Whatever that is.
You know, I think in wrestling, it's just, it's so wonderful and it's so addictive because
they're right there and they let you know what they think of you at every moment for
better or for worse, you are never wondering.
You're like, oh, that rock.
You might go online and find out that didn't rock in some people's minds, but you'll know,
you'll know how it feels there, you know?
Or you'll feel like, well, well, that didn't work.
And then you go online and you'll find that, oh, well, actually, a lot of people did love
it, you know?
And I think that's the thing about being on a set.
You never know.
Yeah.
You're like, I felt it.
I felt it.
then you might look at it and go, I don't care if you felt it, that looked like shit, you know,
or you didn't feel it, and it was awesome.
So, you know, you never know.
And it's the way they edited it and the way.
But at the end of the day, it's all in service of entertainment and storytelling.
And that audience sometimes doesn't see it until 12 months, 18 months, two years later.
Yeah, exactly.
And you're like, oh, yeah, I forgot.
We did 17 takes of that.
And that's the one they're choosing.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Sure.
Yeah. Or you're like, I really shit the bed on that line. And that's the one they're choosing.
Thanks, guys.
I think some people forget that you were a tag team champion with Lita.
Oh, yeah.
Right? And like, what a fun thing. Lita means so much to, like, I always say nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
And when you get someone like that who means so much to somebody of a certain age and like get to see them now, not just returning but winning a championship, that's a cool moment.
Yeah, she's awesome.
She's everything that you want a hero to be.
You know, she's down to earth.
She's grounded.
She's a great mentor.
She's a great listener.
Yeah, she rocks.
She is, if you're going to have, you know, people that you looked up to,
make sure they're like leader, you know?
Yeah.
And then Tristratus ends up taking the spot.
So, like, it's exactly what we're talking about here of, like,
someone who means a lot to fans.
Yeah.
And you get to.
wrestle when you did wrestle against her. Now you get to wrestle with her. Yeah. And that was
awesome. Like that that cage match was one of my favorite matches, you know, and like Trish Stratis,
I mean, I'm the greatest female wrestler of all time. It's not just me saying and other people
saying it. Everybody's saying it. Sports Illustrated sets of fleet sports is. But, you know,
she is always going to be in that list of the greatest female wrestlers of all time.
She out there taking superplexes off the top of a cage?
A woman!
Good on you!
You know?
I'm like, you got kids.
Two of them!
She's dedicated, man.
She loves this, and she wanted to put her all into it.
And that's a match I don't think any fan thought would happen.
Becky Lynch versus Tristratus.
What's a match that you wish you could have had from someone from that era?
with somebody that I haven't wrestled?
Yeah.
I mean, because you name the top.
But, you know, like, jazz, it's awesome.
Victoria.
These were, I was going to, like, ivory was also great.
Jacqueline, you know?
Yeah.
Molly Holly.
Why did it take me so long to say, Nora?
I feel like Molly Holly could probably still wrestle.
She still bust out that Molly go around.
I've hit it a couple of times.
She's, she's, she's let me know.
It needs to improve.
Really?
Didn't do, I don't do it.
I don't do it like she does.
Yeah, yeah.
Not really a high flyer.
You know, as Mick said,
can't jump high,
but I can jump off of high things.
That's such a good quote.
How are you feeling going into this 10th WrestleMania?
Feeling pretty good.
Feeling pretty good.
Yeah, yeah, I feel good.
Feel great.
If I were to run into you...
I think this story and this...
I'm so proud of this title, by the way,
from... This is the first time that intercontinental title
is going to be represented on wrestling.
And should be me holding it.
Should be me.
But I'm going to hold it walking out of there.
If I were to run into you backstage before a big match,
what are you doing?
Maybe telling a few jokes.
Okay.
There'd be a few quick one-liners thrown around.
you know, big energy, big energy, unless there's too much happening and then don't talk to me.
You can get me one way or the other.
What would be too much going on?
You know, like you've got a bunch of appearances.
You have to do this.
This person wants you.
You have to go over here.
You've got to get these photographs taken.
You've got to do a thing for 2K.
But if your opponent's music's hitting and you're standing there.
Oh, you know, I'm good.
You're just joking around.
Have it a good time.
I'm good.
Yeah.
I'll be thrown a few quick, quick jabs.
I like to make everybody feel confident, you know.
Like, okay, let's, this, we're gonna, we're gonna, this is, now we're giving away K-Fa-Fa.
But I always just go, all right, all right, let's, we're going to do great, just let's have fun, you know?
And I think that always goes, takes the, takes the anticipation, you know, the pressure.
It goes, okay, let's remember why we do this.
We do it because we love, let's have fun.
You know?
Yeah.
We put in all the work, just go make some magic.
It's going to be great.
What do you think's been your greatest rivalry in your WWE career?
I mean, I think the one that people were the most invested in, I think is always going to be me in Charlotte.
You know, like I think we wrestled in some capacity on every pay-per-view for nearly a year.
Bianca is one of my all-time face.
I know that I only had like three weeks with Lida, but I loved it.
Even just this recent one with Maxine, man, watching her bloom and do something with it.
Yeah, I mean, I feel like there's a lot that I've really enjoyed.
Lyra is another one.
Like getting to go toe to toe with that ungrateful.
Sack crap, you know?
When you returned and she's standing there like...
Oscar.
Her mystery opponent.
And there's this look on her face of like, I can't believe this is happening.
Like it's such a perfect moment that encapsulates how she's feeling.
Yeah, because I'm the reason that she's wrestling.
I inspired her.
And how does she go on her pay me?
Ungrateful.
Teaming up with Bailey acting like their best friends.
I think you were the one that attacked her.
Of course.
Of course I attacked her.
When were we, when were Bailey and I friends?
When? When? Have a look back. Not since 2019. And yet while I was gone, who was Lyra buddying up to?
Who was she budying up to? Bailey.
See. Come on now. What are you doing? What are you doing? That, I, I, I, you are my protege.
Not Bailey's protege. Bailey doesn't care about you. Bailey doesn't care about anybody.
Bailey is notoriously the most selfish member of the roster.
notoriously.
Wow.
Notorious.
Bailey Hogan.
You never hear that one, but it's true.
That's a new one.
Why, why, why is that not happened?
I don't know.
I'll tell you why.
Because she is so nuanced and so selfish that she's able to manipulate everybody to her liking.
That's next level.
Well, that one's going to.
That is next level.
Got to think about that one, I guess.
You were last on the show like two years.
Two years ago, your book was just about to come out.
Congrats on being a bestselling author.
Thank you very much.
How do you feel now that your story's out?
It's that two years ago.
Yeah, wrestling made it 40.
Oh, yeah, I was sick as be damned.
I hope I did not get you sick.
I did.
No, I was good.
I don't know, look at that.
We kept their distance, six feet.
And then we ended up like hugging goodbye.
And then you were like, I'm so sorry.
Oh, that's right.
I'm sure I'll be fine.
Yeah, and you were.
Great on your immune system.
You wrestled like with terrible flu.
Yeah, uh, strip throat.
Yeah. You could see it. You could see it in me. Like, you could see that I hadn't eaten in a few days.
And that, yeah, yeah, you could see just the, uh, I remember just standing like backstage just like this.
And then, uh, and then my entrance music. And then I was like, okay, right, let's go. You know, but I was just like holding myself up.
Wow.
Right beforehand. I don't know if- And then the next day I was actually fine. They'd put me on antibiotics that day.
And they kicked in by the next day.
It was great.
If only you had it had on the day before.
I know.
I know.
I know.
But now that your story's out into the world, how do you feel?
Because your story's still also being told?
It's also being told.
That was the hardest part.
I didn't know how to finish it because I was like, I'm still coming.
How do I feel?
I feel good.
I feel good.
I feel like that was a snapshot in time.
That's who I was then.
And that's all you can do is represent yourself at that time.
And then you move forward and then we'll see what the next book look like.
I quite enjoyed your audio book.
Thank you very much.
Yeah.
I both read your book and listened to the audio book.
Oh, wow.
That was great.
You double dipped.
Although, like, I was audio booking like, it's not even a verb, but it is now at like 1.5% at 1.5 speed.
Oh, okay.
So you were talking really fast.
Oh, right.
Okay.
But if the book was, I don't know how many hours it was, it was like much less time.
You see what I mean?
Yes, yeah, yeah.
But like you bear it all.
How do I sound really fast?
Like, you're just talking, like, a little bit higher pitched.
Okay, yeah.
But, like, very fast with no breaks between.
Right.
It's good.
Yeah.
But you bear it all.
Is there anything in the book that was like,
I'm not sure if I want to include this, but it's such a big part of my story.
I'm going to tell it anyway.
No.
I don't think so.
I don't think so.
I don't think there was anything that I was like, probably shouldn't say this.
I think if there was, then I probably didn't say it.
I thought it was interesting that you started the book.
with you're basically telling Vince McMahon at the time that you got pregnant, you're terrified.
Yes.
And I thought that's an interesting place of like, instead of feeling the joy of we're going to bring this life into the world, it's fear.
Of course.
Of course.
I was, dare I say, with a toot my own horn top star at the time.
And I mean, you went and tried to pave the way for women.
And guys don't have to have the, to be the headache of, hey, sorry, I have to take over a year off because I am going to bear a child, you know?
So what does this mean for how they will look at women in the future? That's scary. But it's also important because we need to be able to have both, you know? Like, I don't want to get to the end of my career, whatever age I am and realize that I'm.
I missed out on this thing that I really wanted to do in service of and have and this family
that I want to create, which is the most filling part of my life, because I was, I was too
busy with an occupation, occupation, which is a passion. And it's a thing that I love,
but I shouldn't have to not have this other thing that I love because I'm loving this other
thing, you know?
And I don't know, felt like that was, yeah.
But it was also very scared.
Is it the fear of?
It felt right, but also scared.
Is it the fear of my spot might not be here in a year when I'm ready to come back?
No.
I don't think it was, no, no.
I mean, I like that challenge of like, of, of, of blowing everything off and going like,
oh, can I recreate?
Like, oh, can I, can I?
Like, how hard can I make this for myself and still recover?
You want the uphill battle?
Yeah, yeah, of course I want the uphill battle.
Who wants, who wants to coast through life?
Who, like, who gets the end of their life and goes, oh, that was fulfilling.
I had a real easy life.
I don't know who that is.
But, you know, you want the battles.
You want to overcome some stuff.
even if they're of your own making.
But it's also like, man, I have my daughter.
And there is no spot in the world that would replace her.
You know?
There's no main events.
There's no amount of money.
There's nothing.
There is nothing that can replace that feeling of, you know,
partnered bed at night, of, you know, tucking her in
and then leaving an own.
she's safe and sound in her room.
I think she's happy or seeing her play with herself.
There's nothing like that.
There's nothing like that.
And I don't know why I went on that tangent.
Oh, yes, I wasn't worried about losing my spot.
Nah, screw it.
Either I can get it back or I can't and I'll do my best to try.
Or I'll just find another spot and I'll find something else that's interesting.
And what do I want to do?
Because that's part of it, man.
That success, it's not always about like, yeah, it could be in the top spot and be bored out of my mind with what I'm doing and stressed with now I got to work with this asshole or that asshole that I don't want to.
Or I could be building up people that I like and enjoying what I'm doing.
And, you know, so yeah, so that wasn't part of the worries.
I climbed the mountain. I got to the top of the mountain. I did that once. It's great. I loved it.
I'll do it again. Maybe I won't. Who cares? But I did it once. It's great. Wonderful. I've got that.
Now I get this whole other part of my life. But I was just scared because I, as a grown woman,
still get scared of being yelled at. Don't yell at me. Man, I'm not in trouble. But I will feel
guilty. And then I'll cry because I'm hormonal, you know? Well, and for anybody who hasn't read the book.
And then I'll get angsty and then we'll fight. And then that won't feel good. So that's why I'm like,
But spoiler alert.
Vince McMahon thought it was the greatest news ever.
Yes.
Embraced you and it was like, oh my gosh, we're excited for you.
Yes.
So all of the fear was like, okay.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
It's for nothing.
As they always are.
Sure.
As are all the fears, you know, all the worries.
Not all of them.
Some of them are valid.
I'll ask you the same question that I ask everybody at the end.
I asked you this last time you're on the show.
What are three things right now, Becky, that you're grateful for?
Oh, gosh.
Probably just going to be the same thing.
Oh, my daughter, my husband, nature.
Becky Lynch, ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you.
Jim Rome takes on sports.
Why? Because I have a job to do.
With rapid fire takes.
So I don't want to hear from you lava pigs on this notion today.
No idea what you're talking about.
