Starting point is 00:00:00 Recently, our company's softball team lost the big game by one run. Then Dale tried to console us with the quote, Winning isn't everything. Well, Dale and I are very different. I get early payout from Bed 365. If my team goes up big, I get paid out instantly, even if they blow the lead later. Sound familiar, Dale?
Starting point is 00:00:21 Thanks, Beth 365. Must be 19 or older Ontario only. Please play responsibly. If you have questions or concerns about your gambling or the gambling of someone close to you, please go to connectsuntario.c.c. Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Van Flea! Dragon Lee, thank you so much for doing this. Brother, hey.
Starting point is 00:00:53 It's my pleasure. Oh, man. Thank you very much. Pleasure to have you on. You've got an amazing story. I can't wait to dive into it here. Your English is also, I think, way better than people would give you credit for. Ah, I'm still learning, my friend.
Starting point is 00:01:05 I think it helps me when I move to United States. You know, like, the most I hear, the better I can. get it, you know. How long have you been living in the U.S. now? Let's say three years. Okay. Yes. One year in Florida and almost two years in L.A.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Straight from Mexico before that? Yes. So when you moved to the U.S., how much English were you speaking? No, no. It's so little. Just a couple of words. I remember when I just get to N.C., my coach, Terry Taylor, he explained me many things.
Starting point is 00:01:41 You know, in a school class we had. He told me, you understand? I said, like, no. He said, what? It's because, you know, they do the request, and they say, like, you speak English. And I said, like, I don't want to they say, like, they know, like, I don't. I said, like, yes. I think yes, you know.
Starting point is 00:02:01 And I have to literally, you know, like quick. But still, it's hard, you know. How did you learn? I took a classes with a teacher in Mexico, but just online, but it's not the same. you know and when I was in a in NXT we had in a full cell like school like twice a twice a week one hour but still like I think I got more than English the when I start doing like more NXT every every every every every every every every every every every day like for six hours you know staying in the PS in the PC and I think that's that's what it helped me just
Starting point is 00:02:40 is it with my friends isn't it interesting though that wrestling is the international language. Like you could put together a match with someone who speaks. Yes, Japanese, it's just signals, it's just like that. How do you do it? I don't know, like, because we have the bases. We have the, that's the connection with the pro wrestling, you know, like, sometimes I remember, even my first time when I came to the United States,
Starting point is 00:03:08 hanging out with briskos, I was like, seven, no, 18 years old. I talked like years ago. And I honestly, I didn't know what they say. We were just hanging out. And I was like, ha, ha, yes. And I would just say like, yes. Just laughing a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:29 You're just laughing, you know, but I got it. But I, you know, just, I know the feeling, you know? But I just like, you know, just hanging out. That's what a Mexican we are like that. Just having fun. What's been the biggest difference in the style of wrestling from Mexico to the U.S.? You know, I think now is kind of like, especially in WW, I feel like wrestling is getting like wrestling. You know, like Japanese style, Lucha Libre, like Mexico style, is like if you see Japanese style, it's kind of like just strong style.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Yeah. And Mexico is more like a high fly, a submissions, but we have like certain style too. In America, what I see the wrestling, is that the question, right? How I see the, in America, I see the, like, it's more like how good you are in the microphone. It's very important because you have to connect with the people. And obviously, if you are like good wrestler and you have a good character, that takes you to the next level. But now I see WWE, they want to change that. They want to change like it doesn't matter how tall you are, how big, you know.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Well, still is very important, you know, but you have the, you have more like opportunities who you can show yourself what capable of you are, you know? Wrestling is in your blood, right? You're a second generation wrestler. because you were around this growing up, did you feel like you had to be a pro wrestler? You know, brother, I just did wrestling because I want to cut the attention from my father
Starting point is 00:05:26 when I was like five years old. You know, we have a story like my dad, my mom, they separate. And now as a father, I can understand my father how he was in that time. But I was a child, you know, I just need the attention from my father, and he was more focused on my brothers, Rush and Drillistico. And just when I have the attention, when he was training them and was like, hey, I want to do this, you know.
Starting point is 00:06:00 And when I was 12, and I started training more. I started doing Kung Fu, Olympic wrestling, boxing. because my father wanted to be prepared, you know, because wrestler has to be prepared, he said. Like, we had to have all the bases. And I'm starting to feel in the wrestling, and I'm starting to be passionate. Like, I know what the wrestling is. Like, bases like at all school. I did the old school.
Starting point is 00:06:31 You have to make strong, Olympic, everything. And then you will learn what is pro wrestling. It was tough. It was tough. So many times I really cried, really, like, tough trainings. But I'm so proud now because I would say in that time, my father, he was tough. He was, like, very rude. But he was my coach in that time, not my father, you know?
Starting point is 00:06:59 He was in the ring. He was like 8 a.m. We live together, and he was like 8 a.m. who has to be in the ring. He just put his alarm. He never wake up. wake me up or something, just leave, you know. Five minutes later, go back home. If it was so tough, how were you able to get through it?
Starting point is 00:07:21 Because I wanted to be proud of me, you know. It's, yeah, I'm always wanted to be proud of. If you would see, like, I don't know if everyone has his own goals, you know, dreams, But some of that in that time, still now, you know, it's like, I want to my father be proud of me, you know, because he used to be my hero and I want to, yeah, my father be proud of me. I'm sure he's very proud of you. Yeah. All his boys, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:54 All his sons are wrestlers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Olds, yes. I'm the youngest. And yeah, we have a good relationship now. Well, every time we go, like, very, very together. and have a wonderful family brother. How did you decide you were going to wrestle under a mask?
Starting point is 00:08:12 You know, it's weird because I used to, well, I just did like two matches before. I debuted in Mexico. I got a name like Boricua. That's like a Puerto Rican name because my father wrestled like a Poder Borequa, as a Poder Borequa in Mexico. with Piero, all the, all the, the, um, the group, the faction. And I said, like, I'm going to use that name, you know. So my brother, uh, he was dragon knee before me for, for one and a half. And one year and a half.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And, um, he said, like, he becomes a mystical. And then you have to wear dragon knee. And I said like, oh, brother, I have to, I want to be just. Oh, my, it's just me, right? You can change this name, you know, because it's, I really love the name. I really love his mask. It was, was, I changed so many things to his mask. But still, like, I saw my brother, like, he does crazy things.
Starting point is 00:09:20 He was very, like, hero. Ariel, hero. Ariel, yeah. Ariel, yes. Yeah, you got. Oh, crazy things. Like, for me, like, the name, Dragon League is so much for me. I'm nothing to the name.
Starting point is 00:09:30 You didn't think you'd be able to live up from expectations. Yes, no, no, honestly, not because he. the potential of my brother, he was the best half-lider in the world, you know. And just start doing me and doing my style, and here I am. Starting point is 00:10:06 So go on and make every moment count because there's no better time than now. Grey Goose. Make time wait. Sip responsibly. This episode is brought to you by FIFA World Cup, Launch Edition on Netflix. It's a fast, fluid game where your phone is the controller
Starting point is 00:10:27 and your TV is the stadium. You just launch it on your TV, scan the QR code with your phone, And boom, you're shooting and passing in seconds. Plus, it's included in your Netflix membership with zero extra costs. Go to the Games tab and play FIFA World Cup launch edition now, only on Netflix. Talk to me about the design of your mask. What is it that makes your mask unique?
Starting point is 00:10:53 So the character comes from inspiration of Bruce Lee, and we train a kung fu so that's why I know what this character means because my uncle he passed away and he gives us the well to my brother's the name like you have to be dragonly sounds very I was there when he told them and I was like sounds very I don't know like just dragonly like I don't like I don't like how sounds but he told he told us he's this is right Now it sounds weird, but with the time it's going to sound better. It's like, you can see it's a dragon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:40 So it has many things, the temple. Yeah. The yin-yang can tell you, you know, the good and the bad man. Yeah. Everyone just see like the dragon me, just the good man. Yeah. I never be a heel, you don't know, you know, but it's something that I like. You know, I'm always like trying to bring different colors, different things like can show, like better, you know, get better in my mask, something beautiful.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I just add the scales when I came in WW here, like the scale of dragons. Yeah, scales. What language is that on the side? Is this one, this one? Yeah, that one. This is Japanese. It means Rayu is a dragon. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:31 You just say Tala. Yeah. That's the town what I'm from. It's the little town in, in Halisco. Arriva, Halisco. Riva, tequila and los tacos. Tequila and tacos. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Everything. Tequila, tacos, mariachi, everything you can find in in Calisco. I love that. Yeah. So you wrestled your first few matches without a mask. No, no. Actually, I wear, once. Once, okay.
Starting point is 00:12:55 No mask. what with mask. How did, like, Roos doesn't wrestle with a mask, your brother? Oh, yeah. He actually wrestled like, as a name, Latino, uh, with mask. I don't know for a long time, but probably like a year. Uh, but then, no mask. He looks better without mask.
Starting point is 00:13:13 It was a huge moment when you had this match with Gunther and he pulled your mask off. And for a split second, people saw your identity. Talk to me about that match because that's a big moment for a luchadine. or to have their masks taken off. I know, man. It's a culture, you know. We have to cover... It's for respect that you know your culture.
Starting point is 00:13:37 You have to cover all with your face. You will not see any wrestler like Mexico, like showing the face, like, you know. But that was tough, you know. Actually, it was some of my best matches I ever had. Gunther is a great wrestler. But I need to wrestle with him again. because, you know, after that, you know, I didn't have a chance to wrestle again or something. I hope I can get out my second opportunity.
Starting point is 00:14:06 But it means so much, like, when he takes out of my mask, he's like, very unrespectful, you know. And, yes, many pictures, wasn't on social media. But, you know, it's not my real face because I was covered. You cannot see my face. Yeah, you had, like, the black makeup around your eyes. Yes. So I'm handsome. Come on.
Starting point is 00:14:29 No worries. But that's a difficult decision, right? Because you know what it means to wear a mask. You know what it means to your culture. So to have it removed, that's a big decision for you to go along with. No, and actually more like that's what I'm saying. Like, I didn't have that revenge, you know, revenge. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:48 So I wanted, you know, I wanted because I was like, okay, he took up my mask. Okay. This is for one, for one hand. obviously it's bad, but for the other hand, it's good because I'll have my revenge, you know, and I wanted to, because I was, I love that much. He was like, he realized he knew what I'm capable of, you know, that it could be, I wrestle with a wrestler, taller, vegan, heavier than me. It's nothing that's going to scare me.
Starting point is 00:15:19 He had you in this chokehold over top of the ropes. Oh, yes. Man, that looked bad. That was, you tell me. I couldn't breathe, but it's okay. You know, now I'm here. I'm still alive. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:15:36 You're still going. There was a photo of you, Ray Mysterio, and Penta, all without your masks on, that went viral. Did you realize when you guys posted that, what that was going to mean? That's actually, Ray Mysterio, he posed it. And I never expect. Well, Ray has a million followers. So I expect that you will be buried, but not like that, you know? But, you know, we just cover our faces.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Still, we didn't show it, present. But he's a nice picture you would remember, you know? Fans know what Ray Mysterio looks like without a mask because he wrestled without a mask in WCW. I don't think people really know what you or Penta look like. No. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:21 It's better to the know. But I'm handsome. No problem. You had your hat low. Yes, always cover. Always cover. Yeah. But you know, it's weird because sometimes I've been in Mexico, in some other airports around the world, and I see fans to come, hey, Dragon League, can you sign this for me?
Starting point is 00:16:44 And I was like... Do you play along with it or do you go, oh, it's not me? Who you have? What do you say? Dragon League? Oh, who's that? I said like, well, no, I know you Dragon League. I say like, now I'm not going to say anything.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Just like, okay, I'm saying. Just don't take me a picture. But, okay. You know, but it's weird. How do you recognize? Yeah, how do you think they recognize you? They say, like, the way you walk, what? Next time, I want to make sure to walk like different, you know?
Starting point is 00:17:15 Or sometimes for my voice. In Mexico, they told me for my voice. I feel like people recognize Penta because of his tattoos. Yes, right? Easy. Makes sense. Yes. But you don't have tattoos.
Starting point is 00:17:26 on your neck or your arms? No. Yeah. Huh. So when you were, when you first got to WWE, you were having some incredible matches in NXT. What were some of your favorite matches that you had there? In NXT?
Starting point is 00:17:45 You know, there's a lot of talent, you know. But some of matches that I, that I have more like in my mind is with, Dominic, that match with the North American champion, you know, Dom is so great man. You know, I have a good connection with him in the ring. I feel like, I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like, when I see that match, I feel like that's much. Like, Remysiro wrestled with Eddie Guerrero, you know, like how they have the connection. Because you have more connection, the more you wrestle with the guy, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:29 but first time we have good connection. I said, like, I like it. Does he wrestle that Lucha Libre style? I think, yes. Now he does, yes, yes. He learns so fast, man. He's so good. He's so good.
Starting point is 00:18:44 That was he's in a good position that he is. How did winning the NXT North American Championship? How did you feel about that? I don't know how to explain you this, but there's so many feelings, brother. Like, in like, I, I promise myself and I said, like, you, you have to become champion every single company, you know. And it's like every single company that I wrestle and I've been a champion, you know. And it's like one day I want to become, when I was in NXT, I want to become champion in NXT. And I just train so hard and I like, what I have to do?
Starting point is 00:19:27 Like, you have to do the best. So I want to do everything that they need and the things that I know that I need. And just get ready when the opportunity comes and it has to be ready. Would you say Ray Mysterio has been a mentor for you? Brother, yes, he is. And I would say this, he has been my mentor and not always, not only in wrestling. You know, the way like he's with every single one, staff, security, the people on the kitchen, you know, all around in the backstage, wrestler, you know, he's so kind, man.
Starting point is 00:20:15 And you learn that, you know, so much like, you see like how kind he is. Yeah. And sometimes you see other people like not even in half of his need, you know. And he feels like, you know, I'm the superstar and like that, you know, and that's what you learn. And not about that, the life, the way like he lives, the, the, you know, he taught me many, many things about life and obviously in wrestling. And we have a good connection. And I feel so good like, man, you know, I'm talking. with the greatest of all time.
Starting point is 00:20:55 He's my friend. And I can say he's my amigo, is my amigo, is my carnal, and I never expected, like, because I'm starting talking with him, like, as a senior, you know? Hey, Señor Remisterio, with all more respect, because that's the way how my father taught me. You have to respect, and the tradition in Mexico, the hierarchias, you know.
Starting point is 00:21:18 And Ray told me like, no, I don't like you, you told me, Señor. He told me like friends, like, wait, come on. No, I never, I'll never be in respectful. No, no, no, it's no. He's so humble. You're so humble, brother. So humble.
Starting point is 00:21:33 And now we just hanging out many times. So he's great, man. He's great. Did you grow up watching Ray Mysterio? Yes, of course. That's what I'm saying. Like, I can be the, I'll say I'm the imbious man of all my friends, of all, like, I would say many wrestlers too, like, this guy is, you know, is this partner of Ray Mysterio.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And tell me how many, how many wrestlers, they don't want to be in my shoes. Yeah. Many wrestlers. To be part of the LWO. Yes. And to not just be part of the LWO, to be part of it with Ray Mysterio. And that's amazing. That's it.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Yes. Even like a first WrestleMania that you, you know, like, well, actually we ate in 40. He used to be together. Carlito came me out. But, you know, 42 with him, that's an amazing moment when I was in the ring with him. Wow. Yeah, it's incredible moments. Like, you think like, one day it's going to happen this?
Starting point is 00:22:44 And yes, suddenly happens. That match at WrestleMania 42, the latter match for the Intercuttinger Championship, That was one of the best matches of the weekend. I've never, I've never wrestled in a ladder match. That was your first ladder match? First ladder match. And I, and I don't like, you know, it's because I said like, honestly, I thought the ladder will be like, maybe it's going to be a little bit kind of like a fake.
Starting point is 00:23:08 He's going to, you know, we want to protect the gimmick, you know. Yeah. But I want to everyone knows that the ladder was real, brother. Real. Even when I was on the ring, I was just tried to train something, what can I do here crazy? And I just grabbed the ladder right away. I caught my arm and, you know, I hit my leg and I was like, fuck, it's so heavy. And I was, yes, it's strong, man.
Starting point is 00:23:38 It's also so hard to climb the ladder in the ring, right? It's weird, you know, I want to tell you this. all my neighbors, they just sent me a text. Even my family, like, be careful because in Christmas, I just fall. I fall on the ladder, you know, putting like... You're hanging up Christmas lights? Yes, Christmas lights. And I, the ladder just broke.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Fuck. Bam. I, my, I was thought, yeah, this finger goes like this. And like this. And I had, you know, movie the rock and Kevin Hart like, Central Intelligence? I did like this, like the rock. Like, if he does, I will do, I will do.
Starting point is 00:24:17 And I just put by myself back, yes. So you hurt yourself off a ladder, but not in a ladder match. Not in the ladder match. Yeah, what's crazy, right? When I was on the top, I should have put the Christmas light. That would have helped. Yeah. What a match that was.
Starting point is 00:24:35 It's incredible, you know. Were you trying to think of a moment during that ladder match to have your WrestleMania moment? Yes, obviously. Always, always, you have to have your moment, right? I was thinking like, this Resortmania, I want to do crazy things, something that people can remember me.
Starting point is 00:24:56 And I said like, oh, with the ladder, with all the stuff you've seen so many talents. So what a match, man. So I was like, when I was with Ray, when I faced him, we want to have a moment. because people will say, like, they never face each other, you know. I think that was a great moment. The moment when we were like the three of us together, Penta, Ray, myself in the ring
Starting point is 00:25:22 was a great moment too because, you know, we were like, we were working as a team. But everyone wants to become a champion. At the end of the day, we are all competition, you know. We are in competition. Is the dream match one day one-on-one with Ray Mysterio? Of course, definitely. If you want to be the best, you have to wrestle with the best. I want to, that happens one day, and I know it will, and I will be ready.
Starting point is 00:25:55 I'm ready for that moment. As a masked wrestler, there's always the comparisons to Ray Mysterio, right? And how are you ever going to live up to the greatest luchador of all time? But you've got to know that as soon as you put a mask on, people are instantly comparing you to Ray Mysterio. I want to tell you this, that's the only thing that I feel like when I was in LW, nice group, beautiful group, I love it to be, to be part of WW. But I said, like, so many people, so so many, not people, always like social media,
Starting point is 00:26:32 even asking who will be the right next Ray Mysterio? You're the brother, I will say this. Nobody can be the next Ray Mysterio. I don't want to be. I can be. And I will not be never, and I will never be Raymistero. He is other level that you can compare to everyone.
Starting point is 00:26:58 And that's, it's impossible. It doesn't exist, you know. I will, I will be the only dragon Lee. I will be, I will be that man, you know. That will mean, that will, I'm that man like who, who love the wrestling, who is like, I can wrestle with anybody
Starting point is 00:27:18 like strong style, like whatever style you put me, you know? But never. I'm dragon. I'm fire. So you're Fuego. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:30 You know. Scrolling with Haley. I am Haley Kareenia. I scroll with the homies here in the live chat because there's a lot to scroll through on X, on Instagram, on TikTok. Cutting through the Flutter, one hot take at a time.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Love seeing you all in the chat before the show. I tried to jump in just a few minutes before to say hello. I love the chat interaction. Thank you for helping. But I do it to get all of the videos and all of the content that you won't find anywhere else. Scrolling with Haley. Just search that up and I will be there. Follow and listen on your favorite platform.
Starting point is 00:28:03 Jim Rome takes on sports. I will always have a complicated relationship with this game. But people evolve. So do sports. Do not make me regret this. Do not make me devolve. Back to that guy that so many clones wish that I still was. And do not embarrass the entire country.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Now, I can go back. I can get there fast. Lose tonight. And you got a real problem. Do not blow it. The Jim Rome Show podcast. You've been warned. Follow and listen on your favorite platform.
Starting point is 00:28:33 I got to ask you about this photo of you sitting on Undertaker's motorcycle. What made you think to get on? on it? Ah, this is a motorcycle, you know? I grew up watching that motorcycle. I was like, actually I saw the video, like, I just like, because I, at the moment when I feel like, I gotta, I gotta get in this motorcycle. You just thought like, this is your chance.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Yes, my chance, you know, it's like, I want to take it. And I see everyone, everyone in the ring, like, you know, it's like, I gotta take the picture. And I saw, but I was like, should I, no, maybe no. I don't want to get in trouble. Should I know? And I saw, and I saw CM Punk. So, hey, I want to get a, I want to get into, can you take my picture? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:21 So like, okay. If someone tells me anything, he's going to cover me for sure. Hey, yeah, C. Pong told me, you know. Well, you're like, if I'm going to get in trouble, somebody else is going to get in trouble with me. I'm honestly, I didn't want to take a picture just because C. and Pong told me, you know, he told me to get into the, take a picture. And I just got there like, my uncle C.m.
Starting point is 00:29:39 He said like, thank you for that. And he helps me, you know, he gets me like that push that I need, you know, like to go to the motorcycle. And I took the picture. I was so nice picture. But this is not the end, brother. And I came back to AAA, On The Taker told me, you get into my motorcycle and you realized that you crushed the, How do you say when, you know, when you crush a... You scratched it?
Starting point is 00:30:16 Scrush. You scratch my motorcycle. I say like, what? No, come on, you have to kidding me. Yes. You crushed. No, no, no, no. I was like, for one second.
Starting point is 00:30:25 I said like, no, I did it because I just came in, took a photo, no. And I said like, no. Oh, he was ribbing you. Yeah. Just kidding you. For one second, you know, I can take her. It's like, intimidate me. I was like, damn, no.
Starting point is 00:30:36 My boss, right? Like... When you went to the back that night, did he say anything or did anybody say anything after you went on the motorcycle? No. You got away with it. Yes. Were you like, should I post this photo? Should I not post this photo?
Starting point is 00:30:53 I didn't think about anything. I was just so happy. And I said, like, I want to take, I want to post this photo. You have the, I have the biggest smile in your face. Yeah. Yeah. I was so happy to be there. Like, everything is about the moments, man.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I love it. Moments. That's what I learned, you know, like, I have. being the road, even when we drive together, like with everyone, Grand American, or Menta or Rames, Remy, Sereal, everything is about moments, you know, like, we will always, I mean, I mean, in between wrestlers, we will remember more moments before than matches. I won't remember like, hey, do you remember that match?
Starting point is 00:31:33 Or maybe, do you remember when we were to that country and we hanging out? Yes, I remember. So who are you traveling with these days? Most of the times is always with Ram Sereo. So I always been with him, but inside on the ring, we have like a kind of our group, you know, like Mexicans, you know. It's always Penta, always Ray, always. Phoenix. Phoenix is in Smackdown.
Starting point is 00:31:59 But in Grande Americano, the four of us, always like. I love that Al Grande Americano is part of this. He's so great, man. He's this is pinching Mexicanally. That's so funny. He is crushing it. He's doing such a good job. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Amazing. Actually, both of them, even Chad Cable as a grand American too. Yeah. What incredible story. What incredible match they give us. It's incredible, man. There's a photo, speaking of CM Punk. There's a photo of CM Punk wearing your mask.
Starting point is 00:32:30 Wear my mask and yes, this is funny. You know, no. And it was weird because he wore my mask with my jacket with the horns and everything else. I didn't realize until he showed me. Oh, he didn't. No, I didn't realize he took the photo because I was, I don't know what I was doing, but I wasn't in the locker room.
Starting point is 00:32:52 And I think like, you know, everyone leaves his stuff in the locker room. Maybe he just put it in and it was so fun. He's done that with quite a few masks. Yeah, I think like Penta Phoenix. Yes, Ray, yeah. Yes, Ray too, yes. Yes. He's put them all on.
Starting point is 00:33:07 I think he secretly wants to be a luchador. Maybe. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe. You know, every single mask he wears like, uh, C.M. Pong Lee. No, C.M. Lee or something like that. Pong Lee.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Yeah, yeah. You know, pent a penta pong. Yeah, you're right. It is. How did you get paired with AJ Stiles? What a, what a nice story, brother with him. So he's so nice, bro. Being as a champion with him, his other, other, other thing that I want to say, like, he really
Starting point is 00:33:47 pushed me for the next level, you know. I'm very grateful with him because he's, I learned from him is in general, you know, as a man to the way he is as a father. When we became a champion that moment, when we grew up the titles, ah, bro, I'm honestly, I was like, if this is really true, and I told him like, hey, and he just grabbed me like this and crossed the title. Like, just like, like, wake up, like, yes, yes, we won, you know? I was like, what a moment.
Starting point is 00:34:26 You know, he's, how old is him like a 40, 40? I think he's 48, about to turn 49. You see his body? I know. How he is, man. Right. That's what I like, how he's like many, many, many young people. You see like, take care of your body, bro.
Starting point is 00:34:48 You can see like people like him, like just give up like examples. Yeah. Damn. How'd they come up with the original idea for you guys to be a tag tape? Bro, that was organic. I don't know what's going on with that. I just, you know, I never ask. I never ask about like story and everything, just you and I start working with AJ.
Starting point is 00:35:11 Like, but you have something with AJ and next week, something with AJ. Like I said, but I never realized that we will be a, uh, sorry, a tag team and then champion, you know, like, it was like this tag team comes from nothing and I'm saying like, we have a good, good communication. That finished that we did with a, um. The new day. Oh, my gosh. I was incredible.
Starting point is 00:35:39 And I was like, I have to, we have to, and I pitched that idea. And I was like, they really like it. And I was like, damn. It's so cool because like you stomp onto Kofi, which then springboards him into the Stiles Clash. It's like. Then dive and then style clash. Oh.
Starting point is 00:35:59 The way like it pops in that moment, boom. Oh, when he catches. Oh, dive. Oh, finished. Ah, that's amazing. It was so good. So good. Yes, so good.
Starting point is 00:36:13 That's the last championship that AJ Styles won. Yeah. That's pretty crazy. Like that's history. And I feel honored to be part of his last matches. And even like John Cena last match, I was part of that too. Yeah, Saturday Night's been. And I, yes.
Starting point is 00:36:30 And I feel like, you know, so many things that I, that I, I am that I'm proud of myself, you know, because if you're not, if you don't, if you don't recognize yourself, like, if you don't probably yourself, like, who else will, you know? Just look at the mirror and I say, like, you're doing well. Keep working. I'm proud of you, brother. Keep working. And, you know, my family, that's it.
Starting point is 00:37:00 That's all the energy I need. Yeah. There was so much talent in the ring for that matter. at John Cena's last match, Saturday's main event. It's you, AJ Styles, Leon Slater, and Jvonne Evans. And Jvonne Evans. It's a quick match, but you guys packed so much action into that. I wish we would have, we would have more time.
Starting point is 00:37:22 It would be awesome. Even like my match, some of a match that I have with Penta and an intercontinental champion. Yeah. We didn't have so much time. But I would say like, if we would have more, more time, I'm telling you, brother, that would be like the best match of the year. I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Like, Penta is so great. And I think that connection between Mexicans too is like, you know, it's great, man. And I feel good like they're like push more like the old Mexicans now, the Phoenix and AAA, Garza too. Like, they know like Mexicans. But now AAA, how goes? Oh my gosh. Why is AAA so good right now? It's the way that they take, you know, it's in good hands now.
Starting point is 00:38:14 On the take care of it and look, the story that they have is so great, man. And something that I love is because still is AAA, like you're free to do crazy shit if you want. You're free to do wrestler, you know, luchador. You still luchador. You don't have to change anything. it's good since becoming a dad how do you feel like that's changed you how old are your kids uh a four and uh one yeah we're right around the same we got three and 18 months yeah that's bro uh i'm actually uh i can say the day there was a father day right yeah so that was this friday
Starting point is 00:39:04 Because Saturday I flew to, I flew, that was Friday. My wife, he went to visit his father because I'll be on the round, on a trip. So they celebrate me like at the Father's Day when they, two days before, because that wasn't Sunday, right? Yeah. I'm in another word, yes. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:29 So they celebrate with me the Father's Day. At night, they just came to me and give. me a, they play a music, my wife, with like a song as a father, you know, and my two princess just came to me with a little present. And my wife told me, hey, I read this card, but from your daughter's words, you know, everything what she said. And I was reading, and I'm, and I'm sorry crying because I, I'm, I'm sorry crying because I, I was looking at my daughter, like, that was the same age that I was when my mom's live,
Starting point is 00:40:16 five years old, because she will be five in August. And I was almost five, too, and I was like, I see her like that. It's just like, that was me when I was a kid, you know. and so many, so many things, you know, it came to my mind in that moment. But I was like, now I can see my father in that time, you know, like, you are already father. Like, so I know that I father, you know, but sometimes you are working and you forget, like, not I forget, like, I don't have a children, no, like how to be a father. And it's tough, like, you don't have like a book, like how to be a father, right?
Starting point is 00:41:04 Right. You have to learn every time, you know, many, many things. But I feel so proud of my, of me, of my life that I have. Like, I have the best job I have. I'm in the best company that I want, that I will be, you know. I have the best wife in the world. I have the best kid, the best fathers, brothers, family, friends, and everything, it's a balance, you know, now I'm so good. We don't know next week, tomorrow, something can happen, you know,
Starting point is 00:41:42 and that I will say now, I'm in my prime, you know. My family is healthy, everyone is healthy, and sometimes we we we don't we don't um how how can i think what you're saying is you're not present yes and like you're you're in the moment the present and we don't think about because we're thinking about that tomorrow i have to do this tomorrow i had to you know and then or you're worried about the thing you did yesterday yes i have a mistake i made yesterday i have a lot of work i need to think about my job and then what i have to do and you forget your real life look this is only me my mask. That's, that's, that's, that's what I love about my job, that I don't have to be worried about if I'm outside with my family and some people like, hey, you know. Yeah. It's like, I have my privacy
Starting point is 00:42:34 life, which is so good. I can be in any hotel, any place on the street, eating tacos, and nobody knows who I am. Isn't that the beauty of Lucha Libre? That when you're in the ring, you're a star. That's it. And when you take the mask off, you can just be dad. Just be dad. Yes. And it's something that I, that when I come, when I back home, it's like, and something is waiting for you with the hogs, you know, your daughter's like, Daddy, you come back. And it's the best thing. And and I would say now, now in days, I would say I love more my parents, my dad and my mom, that I love before. And I understand more things that I, even like, you know, I understand more my, even my, my, my father-in-law, my, you know, like, because I was like, my father-in-law was, like, so
Starting point is 00:43:30 tough the first, like, when I, when I met my, my wife, you know, all school, you have to come here, like, just stay outside, you know, if you want to go to the square, you have to take, you take, my sister-in-law, you know, like, but now I said, like, have two daughters, man. Yeah, yeah. You know? Uh-huh. I was, like, that moment, like, ah, he's like. come on, but now you understand the life.
Starting point is 00:43:53 You know, every time it's like, it's different. Yeah, it changes you. Change it, yes. But I would say, like, man, I'm so happy in this life. You can see my face. I'm so happy. I'm so happy, man. You're living in gratitude.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Like, I love how grateful you are for where you're at right now. Because having young kids is such a magical time. Like, it's such a special time when they're young. Yeah. And they want to spend time with you and they want to play with you. Yeah. Fortunately, I'm young. I can move.
Starting point is 00:44:20 I don't want to be like so, so like, you know, so sorry and I cannot play it. But yes, it's more when you, when God is with you, in your home, you know, we, I'm so grateful with God because for everything he goes, he gave it to me. He gave us everyone, you know. Yeah, I love that. God first, everything influenced, man. Hey, happy Father's Day. Thank you, brother.
Starting point is 00:44:50 You too. Thank you. You too. Happy fun of us. Thank you. Did you hear this name that people gave your tag team with AJ Styles? Yeah, AJ Lee, right? It was fun.
Starting point is 00:45:01 What do you think of that? Yes. You know, I, um, just because we, we didn't have enough, enough time to create a name, but I pitched this name and I think it would be so great, I don't know, like. Oh, you had one? Like the phenomenal dragons. I feel like that names it wouldn't be so great, like Phenomenal Dragon. And you see like AJSel has like a brand, like, I don't know, like the...
Starting point is 00:45:31 His logo? Yeah. His logo, sorry. He has his logo. And I would say like this logo becomes like kind of like a dragon around, you know, something like we can do, but I didn't realize that he wouldn't have enough time. He will be retired. I was like, nobody expected, you know?
Starting point is 00:45:52 He didn't tell anybody? No, no. Wow. Just, I realized the day, like, we lost the title, like, he told me. Just he told me, and I have to keep that tricker, like, I'm going to retire. And I was like, I thought like, Reservinian, no, not even Reservient. I think that people thought when he said that he was going to retire sometime in 2026. I think people thought, we had the whole year.
Starting point is 00:46:19 He retired. Yes. He retired at Royal Rumble. He retired in January. Yes. Yes. That's why I said, like, we had time to do something. And that was like, that I said, like, we became a champion.
Starting point is 00:46:33 And I would start, like, we can do many things. We can create many things. And our story, like, just right away, just go, go. And that's it. How, who? Where? How? I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Well, look, Phenomenal Dragons is a much less confusing name than A.J. Lee. I know. A.J. Lee's a funny joke, but... Sorry, yeah. But A.J. Lee, as a tag team name doesn't make sense.
Starting point is 00:46:59 A.J. Lee, the wrestler, she's incredible. But to call the tag team, that is a nice, fun joke online. Yeah, nice fun joke. Yeah. And fortunately, we got the picture. A.J. Lee, together with C. That's right. He told me, hey, you got the picture. Yes, we have to. That's fun. I got to be your nephew, you know. My aunt, you know, AJ Lee. What are your goals now on the main roster? Man, I would like to be intercontinental champion.
Starting point is 00:47:35 That's my goal. I want to be champion. And something that I love to is like be a tag team champion with Ramsey. This is something that I hope we can have an opportunity because I feel like great connection with Ray and I think we can do so good as a team. That's for now, that's what I think. And you know, another chance to Roy Rumble in WrestleMania. WrestleMania. That's the dreams to everyone, you know. Now I know what does feels and
Starting point is 00:48:19 nobody can tell me what, how, how does feels and it feels so great. And I want to leave that experience again. It's great, man. Yeah. How was it walking out there for your first WrestleMania? Yes. I'm going to tell you this. I thought I would be so nervous. That will be something that it will, that will be imponent. Is that that that's that correct? like imponent to me is going to imponent it's like imponent or how do you say the word imposter yeah something like you see like wow oh so like imponent no right no uh like you'd be scared of it is that something like i thought like can be scared of me or something but i not you know i just when i walk with the that's huge wings um i feel like regular tithy
Starting point is 00:49:17 be really like just, I don't know, I don't know, but obviously it was bigger. I was so, the energy was different, but I expected like I will feel more, I mean, more nervous, right? Obviously, the energy is different and everything, but I thought like it's going to, like, I would be so nervous because it's going to be a huge arena and something. But fortunately, I've been in great, great, great scenarios and arenas. Yeah. And I think that's why.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Or maybe because I've started being more on TV and TV and TV and it happens. But, well, nervous, we will have always. Before, you know, always nervous. But when I woke out, gone. Feels like home when you're in the ring. Feels like home. Yes. It feels like home.
Starting point is 00:50:05 So good. And actually because I was so like with the wing so heavy and I was like, yes, but still good. Still good. Summer heats up in FX's. The Shards. Set in 80s, Los Angeles, the Shards follows a group of beautiful, privileged prep school students

When you had the one-on-one match with Penta for the Intercontinental Championship, there's a moment where you fly through the ropes and you flip on to him on the announce table. Were you confident you'd be able to make it to the announce table?
Starting point is 00:51:00 Yes. Yes. I does this since when I was working in, I can say brands. Sure. When I working in New Japan with Will Osprey, that was the first time I made that crazy topic. You and Will Osprey. That's crazy. Some of my best matches in the world. He's so great, man.
Starting point is 00:51:22 And, yes, New Japan, how many matches I had. So good, man. So that's something that I like to in my, that I, nobody can tell me how he's working in every single place. And I work with so many great wrestlers in the world. And I'm so good. I feel so good. when the mask is off, when you're just hanging out and it's just you. What do you like to do for fun? I like to play video games. What's your go-to game?
Starting point is 00:51:59 Well, I'm playing now Assassin Creed, the Balhalla. And I like to play, well, I'm kind of like an old school too, you know, Hitman too. You like Hitman too? Yeah. Yeah. Some of my favorite games too, I was like, Resident Evil, but the second one and the third one, I really like. So I'm still like, I've been playing like maybe 20 times, but still I like, still like the way. I just want to make a new record.
Starting point is 00:52:32 But just when I have time, you know, honestly, now with kids. Yeah, I know. No time. Even watch the TV, no time. So they want to watch TV. So, and now something that I like is because my daughter, she likes to play video games. So the video games that I play now is like Mickey Mouse, you know, Mario, something like that, that can play like multiplayer. I mean.
Starting point is 00:52:58 But I like to, I really love to play with her, you know, like it's a good moment, bro. I know. And watch when we have time to watch a movie with my wife. Just, I'm a very family people, you know, family men. So I want to just spend time with my family. Hey, if I had time, just reunion with my brothers or my brother-in-laws, carne asada, you know, play music, sing. Oh, you like to sing?
Starting point is 00:53:31 Yeah, you know, like, yeah, just one shot tequila, you see whatever you want. Yes. It's been so great getting to know you. you. A lot of your fans in Mexico, a lot of your Spanish-speaking fans will be watching this right now. Do you want to look into that camera right there and speak directly to them? No, I have much to say, simply to thank you to say to all the fission Mexican, to all my people Latin, all the people that has been behind of Dragon Lee, of my career.
Starting point is 00:54:05 I'd thank you, to thank you for all the support that I've done. there are many dreams for complete and I want to that I'm that are coming in these

You're being thankful for these things. And I do it again before I go to sleep. So right now, Dragon Lee, what are three things that you're grateful for? First thing I do when I wake off and I see this from Denzel, Washington.
Starting point is 00:55:02 He said, we used to wake up and grab the phone. Oh Before when I'm asleep I used to throw the phone Really throw it Throw it I throw the phone Far away to me
Starting point is 00:55:21 And put in an Airplane mode I don't want nobody Just Wake up I just see it I pray it man And I said
Starting point is 00:55:35 Thank you God for another day Thank you so much And And that's always when I'm very grateful because we used to say tomorrow. We used to say tomorrow. And I heard, like, experience for friends, one friend, like, his wife, his husband passed away. Just, it's very young. Just was sleep and just heart attack.
Starting point is 00:56:03 And I said, like, how old was him? 30. I'm 30, you know? you start like realize like you can dive in any moment. Yeah. You have to be grateful. And just to say thank you for giving me these lungs and for can breathe, everything. And sometimes when I, if I don't wake up, my daughter wake me up with kids, you know.
Starting point is 00:56:27 And I said like, thank you God for this. Thank you for this for give me the chance to even come back. Brother, before, I'm not saying like, I. I'm scared to go to the airplane, no, but before I wasn't worried for anything. But now sometimes, like, I know like turbo lanes, it doesn't mean, like, it's going to fall the airplane, right? But sometimes so strong, so like, God, just let me go back home now. I want to stay more time with my family.
Starting point is 00:57:00 And, you know, I just try to be close to the gut. the most possible I can. I'm not like, I used to go to church every Sunday. No, I'm not, brother, because sometimes for trouble, it's hard for me, but always I have got in my heart. Always I say, like, thank you. And you have to. You have to, like, if you have what I'm saying, God first, everything influenced, bro.
