Starting point is 00:00:00 This podcast episode is brought to you by Coors Light. These days, everything is go, go, go. It's nonstop hustle all the time. Work, friends, family. Expect you to be on 24-7? Well, sometimes you just need to reach for a Coors Light because it's made to chill. Coors Light is cold-loggered, cold filtered, and cold package. It's as crisp and refreshing as the Colorado Rockies.
Starting point is 00:00:23 It is literally made to chill. Coors Light is the one I choose when I need to unwind. So when you want to hit reset, reach for the beer that's made to chill. Get Coors Light and the new look delivered straight to your door with Drizzly or Instacart. Celebrate responsibly. Coors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado. It's Chrysomania, brother. That's a great question.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Look at you, man. We're the powerful questions. Woo! This is the Chris Van Bleach Show. Chris Van Bleach Show. Ladies and gentlemen. Chris. Buh!
Starting point is 00:01:03 Yes! Yes! Here we go. Thank you for giving this a download. Thank you for joining us here on the Chris Van Fleet Show. I'm Chris Van Fleet. Is that funny how it works? I'm Chris Van Fleet.
Starting point is 00:01:13 It's the Chris Van Fleet Show. What an original name. Thank you for listening to this. Thank you for joining us on this audio experience from one wrestling fan to another wrestling fan. Thanks for joining us on this ride. Thank you for the five-star reviews that keep coming in on Apple Podcast. And please, please keep them coming. They really help us boost big time on there.
Starting point is 00:01:31 And I'm going to keep reading one every single episode as a way. to give a free shout out and a way to say thank you for taking the 27 seconds or whatever it is to leave a review and hopefully it encourages you to leave a review you don't have to use patreon you don't have to pay me to get a shout out on the show if you want to you know if you want to use patreon to support some of the other shows that's great I don't have one all I'm asking for is a review I don't think that's too much to ask but I'm going to keep reading one on every single show like this one from WFD 346 he writes writes, podcast gold.
Starting point is 00:02:06 As a fellow podcaster slash interviewer, I listen to this podcast every time it's released to make my show that much better because Chris is the gold standard of interviewers. Wow. And he sets the bar very high for the rest of us. Job well done. Well, thank you, WFD 346. That's very nice. Although after listening to this interview, I'm not sure you'll be saying that.
Starting point is 00:02:30 If you haven't heard it yet, well, man. This interview, although I'm not really sure. I'm not sure you can call it an interview, but this conversation, this experience with MJF, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, is by far the chat, the interview, whatever you want to call it, is the thing that I get asked the most about. And not a day has gone by since this interview dropped at Double or Nothing weekend that I don't get a tweet or a DM on Instagram with someone calling me Chris Van Vla.
Starting point is 00:02:59 So thanks for that, MJF. Yeah, it's good stuff. The Chris Van Fleet Show is brought to you by Ship Station. You can use Ship Station for free for 60 days when you use the promo code Blue, B, L-U-E. And of course, the OG sponsor for the Chris Van Fleet Show is Green Roads. And they have the best CBD products, hands down, because not all CBD products, not all CBD brands are created equal. And we've heard a lot over the last year or so from CBD companies,
Starting point is 00:03:28 hoping to cash in, hoping to make you buy their products, but they've got low-quality formulas. and some of them, sadly, don't even have actual CBD in them. Green Roads, though, is a pharmacist-founded company dedicated to improving the lives of people who take it. I take it, the CBD oil, super easy to take, a couple drops under your tongue. And it really helps me kind of take my mind from everything that's going on, maybe like a 16-lane highway down to like a much more manageable four-lane highway. Now, use my code, Chris, 15, to get 15% off your order at greenroadsworld.com. It's Chris 15 for 15% off at greenroadsworld.com.
Starting point is 00:04:07 The CVV show also brought to you by the Probe Podcasting Pack that I'm using from Samson Technologies. Broadcast quality sound, as you can hear, at prices you can actually afford. Go to samsonTech.com. You can check out their full lineup there. All right. I feel like I need to take a big deep breath before this one. You guys have been asking for this, and you've been asking about this. So I figured we might as well make this an audio version as well.
Starting point is 00:04:31 I might as well make this a podcast. So here you go. It's an interesting experience. Come along for the ride with me. As we sit down with Maxwell, Jacob Friedman, in all his glory. It's MJF. MJF, CVV, pleasure to sit down with you. Off to a, okay.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Off to degrees of third. I'm starving, okay? So we're going to make sure this is fast, right? Because money's time, time is money, Max is hungry, okay? That's one. Two, we're getting off on a bad foot here, and I don't want to, because you seem like a nice guy, Chris. You really do, right? Don't ever fucking abbreviate your name like you're some hot shot around me ever again.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Sorry, Chris Van Vleet? That's kind of my thing. Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Yeah, but only I get to do the MJF thing. You're no MJF. Sorry. I'm not going to have you sit across from me and go, that's not going to happen, okay? So let's start this over, do another introduction.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I'll do your thing. There you go for you. All right. Chris Van Fleet with Maxwell Jacob Friedman. It's still shitty. Ladies and gentlemen, just in case you're deaf, dumb, blind, stupid, or probably poor if you're watching his channel, my name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman. I'm the youngest and fastest rising star and, I don't know, the history of professional wrestling. I am 23 years old.
Starting point is 00:05:53 I have been wrestling for about, I think it's been four years now. No big deal. It's not like I haven't taken the world by storm. And I am seated here next to Chris Van. How do you spell? How do you pronounce your last name? Van Vleet? What?
Starting point is 00:06:07 Van Vleet. Van Vleet. Chris Van Vleet. Got it. Yeah. All right, let's fire off those questions, Chris Van Vue. Yeah. How has the rise been for you?
Starting point is 00:06:20 Meteoric? Amazing, astounding, incredible, fast, epic. It's been a whirlwind. I'll tell you what. I would love to sit down next to you, Chris. I'd love to go, man, I didn't see this. coming. This means the world to me. I would be lying to you. I mean, anybody could have saw it coming from a mile away the second they saw me perform in the ring, outside of the ring,
Starting point is 00:06:44 with a microphone in my hand. I think everybody was able to right away go, oh, so this guy's a star, got it. But it does mean a lot to me for the fact that now the wrestling fans get to be graced with a real star, something that they haven't had in, God, I don't know, years, years, since, you know, Rick Flair was in his prime, since Roddy Piper was in his flog. Going way back. Buddy Landell, superstar Billy Graham. You know, to me, that's wrestling. Not these hippie-dippy marks that are flip-flopping around trying to pretend,
Starting point is 00:07:18 oh, I'm going to out-athletic you. I'm going to do a shooting star somersault 4-50. I don't. I know I don't. You know what I care about? winning, money, girls, protein drinks.
Starting point is 00:07:33 I think I really hit everything. I'll drink occasionally. I really don't drink much because you know why people drink, Chris? Why do people drink? It's because they're sad, and I'm not sad. I got everything going for me.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Is there anyone on the AEW roster that's even up to par with your talent? Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes, hands down. My mentor, my best friend, the roller coedster Cody Rhodes, the American Nightmare, King of the Crossroads. Yeah, I mean, the guy is a god amongst men.
Starting point is 00:08:00 If you're not aware of that, congrats. You live under Iraq. Maybe move out of your grandmother's basement. He's amazing. I don't know if there's anything that he can't do. And you know, there's a lot of people out there. I get these tweets all the time, Chris, where people go, why are you sucking up so much to Cody? I resent that.
Starting point is 00:08:16 I'm not sucking up to him. Sucking up to somebody means that you don't have a general relationship with somebody. Cody Rhodes is like a father to me, you know? I mean, the guy has brought me into his home with open arms. I love his dog, Pharaoh, more than anything. If I can adopt that dog, I would. But I wouldn't want to take that dog away from his home. He's very happy there.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Brandy's great, too. Brandy's great. You know, a lot of people would call her disgusting, gold digging, trash bag, whore. I wouldn't say that. I think Brandy is an amazing human being, and I think a lot of people have it all wrong. I think she's great. Hi, Brandy.
Starting point is 00:08:54 I know you tell people that you're better than them. Well, yeah. Everybody? That's a loaded question. But yeah. I don't know if I've ever come across somebody who is a total package such as myself, besides obviously Cody Rhodes. But it's the truth.
Starting point is 00:09:14 I mean, if you look at our industry today, it is starving for something new, somebody fresh, somebody who's not just, you know, good in the ring, but good with a microphone in their hand, somebody that you can put in an interview like this, and they can absolutely flourish and make the viewers at home, you know, not just go to the edge of their seat, but fall off. Someone who can make somebody's head turn when they walk into a room, or maybe their neck break, who knows, whatever comes first.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I'm not saying I wish death upon you, people, you know, but if it happens, it happens. But all I'm saying is this is all I want to do, like I said earlier, is give professional wrestling something new, something fresh, a new star. And that's why I do feel I'm better than everybody else. Because everybody else is honestly fairly one-dimensional. I mean, really think about the top guys in our industry right now.
Starting point is 00:10:06 I mean, name them. List them off. Go ahead. John Sina. Okay. John, great guy. I love him to death. You know, I met him a couple times. Really like him a lot. You know? But is he MJF?
Starting point is 00:10:19 Well, he's John Sina. Yeah, but is he MJF? he's not Maxwell Jacob Friedman. I can't say MJF. And that's all I'm trying to say. Great guy, John. I'm sure, I'm sure Future Hall of Famer. What about Brock Lesnar?
Starting point is 00:10:33 Brock's cool, you know, but like, is he MJF? And again, whenever you list off a name, that's going to be my response, because it's the gods to honest truth. And that's not me hounding on other guys. That's not me talking trash. It's not, it's just me talking straight facts. When fans come up to you,
Starting point is 00:10:52 What's your reaction? I'm going to try to put this as nicely as I possibly can, Chris. Okay. I have an issue with professional wrestling fans. I'm going to tell you why. For some reason, they think they're supposed to have access to me. Like I'm your best bud, like I've known you, you know, since pre-K. When that's not the case.
Starting point is 00:11:17 You know, most of these people are white trash, you know, Hicks from the sticks, that don't know they're left from their right, don't know how to count all the way up to 10. And it's sad, but it's not my problem. So if I'm not making eye contact with you, I don't want to talk to you. If I'm not trying to talk to you, I don't want to talk to you. If I'm out to dinner, I don't want to talk to you. If I'm breathing, I don't want to talk to you.
Starting point is 00:11:40 At no point during the day, do I want to deal with a loser fat mark, with a belly this wide and 70 chins that wants to go up to me and go, oh, hi, Mr. MJF. I'm a real big fan of your pleasure to meet you. My name is Bill. I don't have time for you, Bill. I don't have time for any of you. I'm a very busy man. I'm very important. I'm doing a lot of things.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And the reason why the tender age of 23 I'm in the position that I'm in today isn't because I'm hamming it up with you guys and allowing you to ingratiate yourself in a part of my life. You know, other wrestlers you do that. A guy like Joey Janella, for example. You know, he's a complete white trash bum.
Starting point is 00:12:16 But for some reason, these fans love him, and I'll tell you why they do. It's because he's a loser and he caters to them. He caters to their every whim. Oh, Joey Janella, fall off a balcony. All right, cool, I'll do that. Sounds good. No, I don't care what you people want from me.
Starting point is 00:12:32 It's not my job to please you. My job is to win matches, to get paid, and to go home to a really hot girlfriend. That's it. If you're better than everybody, how do you explain when you lose? Okay, so here's the thing. I've never lost fairly, ever. Go back into my whole entire career. Never have I lost clean in the middle of a ring.
Starting point is 00:12:55 It's always been shenanigans. Always. Honestly, pull up any tape. I've seen guys they come out with knives in their fists. Nice. The ref doesn't check it. True story. Wow.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And several times in my career, I've had a guy on the lockup whisper. I'll stab you if you don't lay down on your back. With the knife they brought. No, I don't. I'm sorry. I'm really hungry. This room service. In the middle of it.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Chris, please don't talk. It's really rude. Good evening. Hi, how's it going? Oh, thank you very much. Where are we celebrating? What's that? We're celebrating me, baby.
Starting point is 00:13:32 We're celebrating me. What am I signing this? What's going on? Of course I am. I'm a big deal. You go. Food's good, food's warm. That's what I love to hear.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Awesome. Thank you so much. You have a good one. I'm going to have to go talk to this loser now. Tata. I've got to, this has never happened before. Chris, are you hungry? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:14 I don't care. You're not having any of my food. I want to have some coffee. Some toast. I'm sure you like carbs, Chris. There you go. Toast. I'll grab my water for now.
Starting point is 00:14:27 I'll have my omelet later. All right. It's Fiji. It's good stuff. It's artesian, I think. I think that's how they pronounce it. Oh, great. It's good stuff.
Starting point is 00:14:52 What kind of food does Maxwell Jacob Friedman order? Healthy food. I got an omelet. Oh, hold on. That might be more room service. Oh, my God. Yes?
Starting point is 00:15:06 To distract you. I need your signature. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Of course they need a signature. Thank you. God, her breath smelled like. like, oh, boy. Wow.
Starting point is 00:15:21 I didn't realize that the room service ladies in Vegas were also, you know, escorts. Oh, we are in Vegas. Yeah, what are you going to do? You know, is your entrance theme in AEW going to be you are my sunshine? Chris, let me tell you something. You're so funny. Did you ever get that? You ever get how funny you are?
Starting point is 00:15:42 All the time. What are you fucking idiot? Is that it? Turn the camera off real quick, please. Is it? Is it off? Thank you. I will single-handedly end your career.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Turn that camera back on, please. Good stuff. So what was your next question, Chris? Uh... What? Do your next question. What was the next question you were asking? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:14 You're sweating. You're okay, bud? We're just two pals hanging out. What's going on? Me and Chris. Yeah. Yeah. Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Doing it up. Me and Maxwell. There we go. Yeah. Good stuff. Yeah, good vibes. Yeah. A nice bicep peak you got going on, Chris.
Starting point is 00:16:27 I didn't even notice that. Thank you. For the cam of those guns. Yeah. Boom. Showing them off? There we go. Curls for the girls, right?
Starting point is 00:16:35 I've never heard that expression before. Do you even lift, bro? That's what people say, right? I feel like I should let you eat your food that you so rudely interrupted this interview to get. I'm thinking about it? Are you okay if I have some of my omelet while you ask these questions and rifle them off? Yeah, maybe. You're a gentleman, Chris.
Starting point is 00:16:55 You're an absolute. Wow. Thank you so much. Here we go. You sure you don't want that toast, Chris? You look that much. Okay, after it hit the floor. There we go. Wow.
Starting point is 00:17:08 There we go. That actually does look surprisingly healthy. Oh yeah, it's good stuff. It's omelet. I think they put some bacon in there. And I'm probably not going to touch those tater tots, nothing but carbs and gluten mess. Wow. I feel like...
Starting point is 00:17:22 Stick these bad balls on. I feel like we should... let you just eat. No, no, don't be ridiculous. I don't know. I feel like we're imposing. We're being rude. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:17:34 You're being absolutely. Chris, we're just a bunch of pals. Max, just hanging out, not asking stupid questions. Now, I got to apologize because I've been so rude. You know what, Chris? You know what? I appreciate that. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I was kind of waiting for an apology after the stunt that you just pulled a couple minutes ago. And I got to tell you, it means a lot. It really does. So what else you do you? got for me pal I knew you'd appreciate that yeah um other than this looks good other than ordering room service oh god oh Vegas doesn't write what is it that you like to do in Vegas what is that I like to do to Vegas um you know um I like good food like to eat good food here there's a lot of good food at the MGM grand here uh they got me in a lake's a nice little VIP room
Starting point is 00:18:20 with a really good uh you know really good side of town this is a beautiful view yeah absolutely is um so i like i like the food here mainly i'm not a big gambler i'm not really into that i like to keep my hard-earned money you know a lot of these idiots they'll throw money on the table and they'll lose even if you win at gambling you're really losing chris people don't realize that because the house always wins you know you ever heard that expression you ever hear that expression chris i'm sure you have i've i've heard that expression is there some words of advice that you live by words that you live by. Oh, absolutely. No phrase, my high school football class.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Oh, fuck. This is a good omelet, Chris. Give me a second. You know what? I'm really like, you have a piece. I'm okay. No, I insist, Chris. It's all right. Here we go. Open up. Train time. Chucka, chukit, chugga, chugga, chugga, chugga, chugga. Here we go. Oh, big boy, Chris. That's a good omelet, right?
Starting point is 00:19:19 It's a really good. That's a good omelet, right? Thank you. Wow. Right? Thank you. It's pretty wild. That was pretty weird, but thank you. Oh, absolutely not. I'm going to take a little pause from this experience with Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Starting point is 00:20:53 We had to make a little. Yeah, yeah. We had to cut a little bit, which I totally understand. There was, yeah. I got to say, I've never had an interview this interesting. I mean, I think it's going great. Yeah. It's refreshing.
Starting point is 00:21:12 What were the words of advice? Oh, the words of advice I was given, it's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog. Because, honestly, especially in the world of wrestling, there's so many titans of our industry, so many gigantic human beings, right? But at the end of the day, sorry. Oh, God. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Indigestion, it actually runs my family. At the end of the day, what you have to realize, Chris, is that it's not always all about brawn. You know, sometimes it's about brain, which is something I absolutely bring to the table that I feel a lot of people in professional wrestling don't. I think a good example of that actually is, you ever hear of a Davey Boy Smith Jr.? Of course. Yeah. So I actually have a match coming up with him at Major League Wrestling soon. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And, you know, I was seeing some people say, like, oh, Max, you're in danger, this or the other thing. But the guy's dumb. I mean, let's face facts. I mean, that whole entire heart family is pretty dumb, like all of them. Brett, him, Teddy. Have you ever met Teddy? Yeah, Teddy's been on the show. What?
Starting point is 00:22:15 Yeah. How did you get more than three sentences out of that brain dead lunatic? We had a great conversation for half an hour. Okay. Yeah, I'm sure you had a great conversation with him, just like I'd be able to have a great conversation with Joey Janella. We also had a great conversation with Joey Janella. Yeah. Is this like a real professional thing, Chris?
Starting point is 00:22:34 Because I'm starting to think that you're just one of those weird ones with a camera. Lots of people are watching this right now. And they're seeing... Chris, I'm trying to be nice here. How many views you get? Like 100, 200, 250? Yeah. Something like that.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Something like that. Yeah. No, that's fine. And now all those people... It's grassroots promoting for me. Yeah. All those people get to see how you really are. Oh, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Yeah. You know what I actually wanted to bring up, Chris? And I wanted your thought process on this, especially getting to meet me now, and you're welcome. I think a lot of people have it all wrong about me. Okay. I can't wait to hear this. I feel I'm a down-to-earth, nice, genuine human being that is misunderstood. And to me, I think this is the first interview where somebody, such as yourself, sweetheart like you, you're an absolute gem, Chris, has asked me the right question so I can show the people how good of a person I really am.
Starting point is 00:23:30 I mean, also, this might be a perfect time for me to plug charity. Really quick. I actually help with a charitable cause. I don't know if you're aware of this, Chris, but the earth, it's dying. Yes. It's a serious problem. So what I do is I actually help with trees. Plant them.
Starting point is 00:23:53 You plant trees? Oh, yeah. Do it all by myself. You know, I stick my toe in the dirt, just throw an apple seed in there, throw some water on it. Yep, I have like a bunch of dudes. They do it. Call it, call it tree guys. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Totally real thing. Yeah. Not making this up on the spot. And that is, that's why people really need to understand. I'm a good person. I care about the earth, just like you. I feel like we should let you get back to your meal. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:24:20 And I do want to thank you for your time. And thank you for showing people, you know, what MJF's really all of us. about. Yeah, you're welcome. You can follow me on Twitter and Instagram at the underscore MJF. This has been a pleasure, I guess. It's been cool. The pleasure's all mine. Yeah, it most certainly is. Do you want more piece of this on one? I'm okay. All right. Well, there it is. There you have it. You've asked for it. And there you go. If you haven't heard it before, you're welcome, I think. What an experience, right? I said at the start of the show, not a day goes by where I don't have someone calling me Chris Van Fleur because of that interview.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Chris Van Fleur. Also not a day goes by where I don't get asked what MJF is like in real life. And there you go. That's him. That's actually him in real life. I don't know what you want me to tell you. I think it's going to be very interesting for me when I start working the first AEW show on TNT, October 2nd in Washington, D.C. I'll be there. M.J.F. will be there. so we'll see what happens, right? And by the way, I'm super pumped about that. This is super, super incredibly exciting to be able to work with AEW in any sort of capacity. So I'm pumped.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Thank you guys for all the super nice comments, all the great support that you guys have given me about that on YouTube, on the podcast. Instagram, on Twitter, on Facebook. Thank you. It means a ton to me. And also thank you to shipstation.com. You can use the code blue to get 60 days for free. Use Chris 15 at greenroadsworld.com for 15% off their CBD products. Also, thank you to Samson Technologies for making us sound so crisp and so clear.
Starting point is 00:26:13 And if you haven't done so yet, please click subscribe on this podcast. Please take those 27 seconds out of your day to leave a five-star review to really help us out. And I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite quotes. I've liked this. We've been finding some great quotes and we've been putting them out there. and hopefully, you know, it encourages even just, you know, 0.01% of you. And this is one that I really, really like. It's from Thomas Jefferson.
Starting point is 00:26:35 He famously says, I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have. Hmm. Is it funny how that thing works out? Have a great day. Go out there and crush it. CVV out. I hope MJF doesn't get mad that I call myself CVV there. Jim Rome takes on sports.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Why? Because I have a job to do. With rapid fire takes. So I don't want to hear from you lava pigs on this notion today. No idea what you're talking about.
