He had one of the most memorable WWE debuts in recent memory. It was a banger of a match with Chad Gable. Then he had a banger of a match with Pete Dunn. then he lasted over 40 minutes in the Royal Rumble, and he kicked that match off with an absolute clinic with Ray Mysterio. Then his winning street continued on Raw when he dismantled Ludwig Kaiser, who by the way, we just recorded an interview with. So you'll see that in a week or two.

Penta hasn't even been in WWE for a month yet, and he has certainly left his mark. I've been a fan of his work since Lucha Underground, so we're going back 10 or so years. And I feel like with all the attention he's getting now, it's kind of like when your favorite band starts getting played on the radio, you're like, ah, yes, now everybody's seeing what I've been seeing for years. I love it.

I talked to him about what his goals are in WWE, who some of his dream opponents are, what that debut meant to him and what it meant to his family. But I'm talking about when my family is. My little daughter said me, hey, pa, I want to see Netflix soon, soon, you know, soon. But two weeks ago in San Jose was an amazing night for me. I think after the match with Chad Gable,

Chad Gable, thank you so much. He has won the best wrestlers in the world. I think was the turning point my career, brother. because I feel very special this match, especially, because my family was there, you know. Yeah. You could see how emotional your daughter was getting in the front row. What did that mean to your family?

Man, it's like I have the mixes feelings and emotions, you know, because I win the match, my first match in W. My family in the first row, my little daughter, crying, you know, it's like, wow, it's like too much emotion in the same time for me. But when I back to the locker room, everyone clapped me. I speak with Ray Mysterio, my recito, the triple age. It's like, for one moment I thinking, I wanted these 20 years a woman. Wow.

Yeah. Take me backstage before your music hit, before you debuted. What's going through your mind? To be honest, to be honest, brother. And my mind is only, I want to, I want to, I want to. Now, no, please. It's like, it's not nervous, but no nervous, they scarry, you know, nervous, they're very excited.

I start with me and now everyone, one. Where did it start for you? Where did that phrase come from? The true is I love the Corridos. And the Mexican music is the Corridos. In Mexico, there are the Buitres of Culiacan is the name of the band. And a lot of songs, them say, zero mea.

Serro meo, my compa, and English is like, no fear my friend, you know? Yeah. Something like that. But I,

I like it, I like it, okay. And then my first interview in AAA in Mexico, I need to do the promo. He's like, how finished,

After that, everyone, hey, Serra Miedo, hey, Zer Miedo. It's like, okay, okay, I got it. With the jurors, I improved the Sero Miedo, just the hands, you know, the T-shirts and everything. But this is the true. The Ceromedo come from the Corridos in Mexico. If you are saying Zero, Miano, you have no fear. Is there anything you're scared of? Yes.

No, it's really. What are you scared of? No. You're not scared of any. No, no, no. I was thinking something, but no. No, no, no. I don't have nothing in me.

You're not scared of heights or spiders or snakes. No, come on. I am man. Is there any man you're afraid of any person? Yes. Yeah, of course. Who are you scared of? No, I think the more scary in my life is no fight for my dreams.

I think this is the only thing is scarred me. I know fight for my dreams every day because 20 years ago I started this dream for me. I work hard every day 24 hours. You know, I start

resting in Mexico in different parts. Sometimes no rain, sometimes no pay me, sometimes the venue is weird. But now I have to be here and WWE is like, it's my dream brother. Was WWE always the goal, always the dream for you? Of course.

It's the best company in the world. Was there a point in your career when you thought maybe this isn't going to happen? Maybe I won't get to WWE? Nah, never. Never doubt about me, about my talent, about my energy, about my passion for this sport. I think this is the best formula for to be here. Can you tell me what the meaning behind your mask is? The mask is?

Yeah. This mask represents after my culture represent the dragon for me is like my god you know the color, the black color is my best color for me because I think the black is like serious

the black is like you know the more fancy for me I love it so this style like ninja style because I love love the ninjas too. You know, it's like a couple,

couple of things about my real personality. This is the mask, the pent. The stars, you know, the ninjas too. The most important thing, my mask is the dragons. Take me back to your earliest wrestling memory. What's your first memory of wrestling? Well, this is a weird question.

Because when I was child, my father talked me, he brought me to the arena. Like, it's more arena in Mexico. This is one my first time. I see in this show Octagon, Piero, Conan, Vampiro, Mascarasagrada, I think. So it's like now, it's legends in Mexico.

But when I small, how is the arena, how is the, the oil, the wrestlers. You know, all contexts in the arena, I love that. Yeah. And my mind is maybe one day I want to be the wrestler. Or in Mexico, like, I want to be the luchador with masks, my cape, I want a strong, you know. Yeah. Like old child in Mexico want to be a wrestler or luchador.

Sure. Yeah, in my case were the same. Every day I play luchas with my brother in my home and the beds and the coach, you know, every, every, every, every day. And now I have 40 years old. It's like sometimes I turn around back. It's like, let's go. Let's go. You know?

Do you remember the first time you saw Ray Mysterio? Yes, bro. This is the first time I say this. I don't remember what year, but Ray Mysterio went to Mexico for meat and greed. But, brother, it's five blocks, the line for Cid Row in Mysterio in Mexico City. I mean, and my brother are in the line, like two hours, three hours.

When somebody say, hey, Ray Mysterio lifts, Ray Mysterio lift, in one car. Me and my brother running behind the car. I try to want a picture with him, but never. It's my brother crying in this moment because my brother is six years less to me, you know? Yeah. Yeah. So after that, my brother, cried, hey, I want to say Ray, you know, maybe one day.

No worry, no worry, no worry, you know, because I'm older. No worry, no worry. You only watch Ray, but in the car. No, no, I can touch, I can picture, I can speak with, say something. Yeah. But my first time with real, real, real, me to Ray Mysterio was, oh, I remember in PWG in LA, the tournament ball are you, you know? And in one tournament, Conan come with Ray Mysterio to the show.

I remember that in the locker room, I see, he's Ray. Maybe, yeah, yeah, Ray, you know, he speaks Spanish too. Hey, Amigo, come on your radio. This is my first time. It was amazing and magic for me. I never forget that. Wow. And then you wrestled Ray twice, right?

I don't remember how many times but yeah a lot of times I'm a big Lucha Underground fan Oh you like it? I love Lucha Underground Me too man The work you did there was amazing Yeah in Luch Underground

You know? Raymisterio inspired me, of course. but I don't want to say like this, you know. I feel like you're a true luchador. Like, people don't know your identity outside of wrestling. You never take your mask off. I remember growing up and seeing Ray Mysterio loses mask in WCW and wrestle without his mask.

You've never done that. How important is it to you to keep your personal life personal? Yeah, it's very important, brother, because when I take off the mask, I am the person. I have kids. I had parents, I had friends. I love, I love the playing in Mexico's fronton. Here is humble.

It's like a sport from the hood, you know. It's not like professional sport, but I love that. I love the bull riders to, you know, the different things about the lucha. So, but when I put the mask, I put my gear, I become another person, brother. This is the true. feeling inside me. When I put the mask, I put the gear. It's like, come on.

You know, it's like, let's go. Nobody. Come on, come on. You know, I feel that when I put the gear. Who's the difference or what's the difference between Penta with a mask on and you without your mask on when you're just with your kids? Brother, when I put the mask, I don't feel nothing. Nothing.

When I, in the person, I feel everything. This is the true. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What are some of the dream matches you're hoping will happen now that you're in WWA? I have a few names, but the truth is no matter who is in the ring, no matter what he won, just I think that's the matter is like,

I want to win everything in WWE, John Cena, punk, Cody, Seth Rawlins the chief tribal you know the fatu humor

hmm Bron Braker has a championship you were looking at you know he is in my in my eyes now but I don't know it's a lot of wrestlers

I thinking about the WrestleMania. How? How? Just for me, you know, in my mind is like, how is the best opponent for me in WrestleMania? I think in Ray, Pong, Cody, I don't know. Just it's very difficult choice,

only one opponent, you know, because I won everything, brother. You may have the best entrance in all of wrestling right now. Yes. You've got fire, you've got this spinning thing with the sparks. How cool is your entrance to you? Man, this entrance is 100% Triple H idea. And thank you and thank you for that.

I feel very special because the fire for me is very important because I like it. The dragons, you know, the dragons have a fire. When I feel in my behind me, the fires, I feel the power, I feel the more energy. I want to destroy somebody there. This is the true, brother. But when I see in the TV, my entrance is like, wow,

I feel a big star, really a big star now. It looks incredible. I met you for the first time, like seven years ago at MLW. You didn't speak much English then. Your English has improved so much. Thank you. And you've been working on it? Yeah, yeah, every day.

But I know my English is not perfect. but the thing is I speak with the heart I speak with my soul you know I speak with my spirit I think this is a former for I connect with the people between the TV or the people in the arena

because I'm the organic brother this is I'm I'm I mean yo you know this is my character this is Pentha this is the real Penta I know somebody can say yeah Pentta

no good English yeah it's a true. I don't think that's the truth at all. When I met you in MLW, you spoke like five words of English. How years ago? Seven, eight? I remember, you know something?

This was Fort Lauderdale. Yeah, my first time in United States in L.A. I'm hungry, brother, this time I remember, but my English says nothing in this moment. Okay. I say somebody, hey, please help me. I need food. Yeah, but you order. I can.

Why? Because I did not speak English. If somebody said, me, I'm sorry, brother. This is your problem, not my problem. Wow. Yes. In this moment in my mind, oh, okay. Years later, I stood in Mexico.

being a tag team wrestler and now what you're doing is a single star? I really enjoy both, you know, with, I tag team with my brother. It's very special because he is my real brother. For me, he is the best wrestlers in the world. I enjoy, when I am in the corner and my brother is in the ring, I enjoy the every move, you know, when he gave me the tag, oh, it's my turn again, you know. But when I myself in the ring, it's more like Penta. It's more like Shakespeare.

for the Ryan Rumble. I'm focused for the WrestleMania. I'm focused for everything here when my brother have the opportunity with me. It's okay. But now I'm focused on myself. So if somebody has never seen you work

anywhere except for WWE, what match do they need to go watch to find out what Penta's all about? Who's the opponent? I have maybe three or four matches. One, definitely Penta versus Vampiro.

The second one, Penta versus Phoenix in Japan. Oh, Lucha Bros. versus Jumpox. Oh, that's a great match. Oh, the number four, Penta versus Kedi Omega. Oh, that's a hell of a match. Yeah. How did your friendship with George Kittle begin?

Oh, he's my best friend now because I love him. He loved me, I think, so. I meet him in New Orleans, Jersey. and, you know, the Restorecom weekend. Yeah. Yeah. I remember this Sunday have five matches, I think so. He looked me the five matches.

After that, he come to my locker room. Hey, Penta, I am the player in the NFL. Like, okay, because I never see NFL. He's a big dude. Yeah. But after that, he gave me the jersey. I changed with the mask. after that he became my friend

because sometimes text me and my cell phone when the NFL go to Mexico he brings me with him you know in Mexico I hope why not

he comes with being here in the WV he has done some things yeah I know I know to ice I think so yeah but never with Penta and now he does your celebration Like he does. Yeah, the Cerro Mieto. If he do touchdown or something like that,

because this is the answer, as I mentioned before, there somebody become the Serramiido lifestyle, you know? Yeah. For example, George Hill touchdowns Seromiedo because he knows what represents this fries. Yeah. I have a other football soccer. The name is Kike. I think so, the Atletico de Madrid.

For this reason, every day, I, I, I, I fighting for my dreams. Every day I try to improve my mind, my heart, my soul, you know, everything because I know Penta inspired a lot of people. How does that make you feel? So proud, brother. I feel so proud because it's like now the next April is 20 years. They work every day, every day for my dreams.

And now I live in my dream, brother. Yeah, it's pretty amazing to see you. to see where you've come from and everything that you've been through to be here right now. Yeah. When you got back into the locker room after your debut and it was just you or back to your hotel that night, what were you thinking about? What were the thoughts going through your mind? It's a good question.

Sometimes when back to the hotel, especially, is yourself, right? Yeah. You are yourself in the room. I look in me in the mirror, it's like, come on, motherfucker. You can again. You can again. You can again. No matter how, no matter nothing, you're fighting for your dreams.

Sometimes, you know, after the match, you heard for something. It's like, no, no, no. I don't have this time for her for something bad about my life. So, all you'll say my mind is, tomorrow is the new day. Tomorrow we will start very early work hard, brother. This is the truth. WWE is now selling your masks. how does it make you feel that you're seeing kids wearing your mask? Man, this was a big surprise for me because actually last night, somebody told me how many masks WWA sell about me is. Big number. I can't stop. I need growing up every day for the T-shirt too. The T-shirt is like, I love the T-shirt. You have the Penta T-T-T-shirt? I don't yet. No, you? Please, one T-Tier. Thank you.

About the mask, brother, is like very special for me because, you know, here, Dragon Lee, Ray Mysterio. I think so, John, these guys use masks. But the pentamask is different. Yeah. Because no only is a pentamask. It's one part for myself. Yeah. You know?

Yeah. This is the thing. We've seen a lot of Canadian destroyers in wrestling. There's something about the way that you do your destroyer that's a little bit different. What's different about your destroyer? The passion, brother. The passion in the rain. I want to...

Now it's the Mexican destroyer. Yes. But I think the different between me and other wrestlers, they do the same move, is like, with the passion, I do that, you know? Because no is only the regular Canadian. It's like the big energy when I do that, you know? the energy when I, in my mind crossed Mexican destroyer, okay.

I waiting for the best moment in the match for connect the Mexican Destroyer. Have you talked to Petty Williams? Yeah, of course. Since coming to WWE? Yeah. What does he think of your destroyer? Yeah. I know in WWW some moves is dangerous or you can do that.

But for me, I don't know. I don't know exactly what is the reason, but now the Mexican destroyer is part of me. It looks great. Thank you. But Pedy Williams created it. And now you're working with Pedy Williams. Yep.

Did you have a chance to say, hey, what do you think of my destroyer? I don't know. This is just I'm focused on myself and every move. I try improve my regular moves and evolve the new moves, you know, because I know the WWB style is different, but now just in focus and myself. And, okay, after the every match, I say the replay, oh, maybe I need to improve this, oh, this is the like it, you know.

Every day I work in my new style from WB. So you watch your matches back? Yeah. Yeah, because I need to see what my grown, you know, because I want to every match. to be better and better, a better, I'm better, I'm better. When did you start doing this strut, the way that you walk to the ring? When did that become part of the- To be honest, brother.

Every dude pent in the ring and the stage and they're like, like, walk, you know, like when I say, ah, or ching-a-to-matter or something like that, the real truth is I feel in my heart, I feel in my soul, you know. I'm not prepared nothing about this. Just I feel in the moment, I do that. This is the truth. You inspire so many people, but who inspires you? Ray Mysterio, the first one.

When I meet a Ray Mysterio in Mexico, I see only how is him like person. He's a big star. He is here even with me, you know. He called me.
