Starting point is 00:00:46 A thanks of being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is, I don't even know what day it is. Wednesday, October 11th, 2003. I know that because I looked at my phone. Hope you're having a good day, ladies and gentlemen. This is Investor's Edge. Serious talk on you and everything that affects you in the markets, the economy, your jobs, the whole works with a little bit of comedy injected.
Starting point is 00:01:15 But we have absolutely no comedy right now. We are telling it like it is. We are pulling no punches. We don't care what people think. Simple as that. As we have started in the first part of the show the last couple of days, Israel, I have been asked numerous times my feelings on the people that are not only excusing but celebrating. My answer is I don't have an answer.
Starting point is 00:01:48 These people will have to live with themselves. They choose what they choose. they line up with each other as like a big gigantic chain and tag team and come up with I don't even know what to say these animals committed unspeakable atrocities that we'll be glad to speak about making sure you know we're looking at the videos and the pictures to make sure we know and then we get a headline like this. Bernie Sanders accuses Israel of breaking international law.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Now, imagine this. Israel, over a thousand dead. Pictures. Let me state for the record some of the things I'm about to say you may not want to listen to. So I'm going to wait 10 seconds before I mention them. Pictures of families in a car burned to a cinder. Beheaded babies. Beheaded children. Videos where the animals took a phone away from a woman, called the family up, raped the woman on the video to show the family and then murdered the woman.
Starting point is 00:03:30 and the list goes on and on these are sick, twisted, depraved. I don't even know what else to say. The good news is Israel's put the hammer down and killed a bunch of them. May they rot in hell. And Bernie Sanders accuses Israel of breaking international law. I can't say the words I want to say on radio to Bernie Sanders, which, by the way, I would say. to his face, not the terrorists
Starting point is 00:04:07 beheaded babies, burned families, shot innocent people in the head, by the way, 20 different countries. Innocent people from 20 different countries murdered. Different countries. And we will find out that Muslims were murdered. You know, Muslims and Jews and Christians work and play together in Israel.
Starting point is 00:04:35 side by side. But Bernie Sanders, serious violation by Israel. Israel, how dare you? I gather Bernie will not be vacationing in Tel Aviv anytime soon. And I have to tell you, I don't know where these people come from, get their ideas from. And I can go on and on about the colleges. and students at colleges. By the way, we talked about Harvard yesterday,
Starting point is 00:05:11 a bunch of them are backing away already. And God bless, and I put my name in, a bunch of Wall Street people said, these names will never be hired. Same here. I don't care. I don't care. Who?
Starting point is 00:05:34 Murder's murder. Depravity is the gravity. And I guess I can expect it from the Bernie Sanders and the Omar's and the Talibs. Rashida Talib was chased down by Hillary Vaughan of Fox News. Do you comment on babies being beheaded? She wouldn't comment. But she put out a tweet how Israel bad. Israel bad.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Now, in case you do not know, a little bit of, in case you did not know, all this talk about the Palestinians in Gaza well just south of Gaza you just go into Egypt a little farther down you know what Egypt says you ain't coming here I don't think anybody's yelling and screaming at Egypt are they interesting I love how things are anyway we just have to start by this
Starting point is 00:06:32 what's going on right now is there's been more incursions by the terrorists into Israel and they've been knocking them down. There have been more missiles into Israel. Hezbollah has pricked a little bit, meaning I'm not too sure they have the nuts to really do too much because I got news for Hezbollah. They may have a bunch of missiles. I know Israel's got bigger missiles. I expect a ground attack in there. You're going to hear a bunch of worms crying and whining, Wawa.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Look what they're doing to this area. Well, when you murder, by the way, it would be the equivalent I think of about 25,000 people here, maybe even a 30 or 40,000. That would be the equivalent. When you do that, you can expect. When you celebrate, you can expect. That's all. And where it stops, don't know. And let me give you my stance.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I don't want to see any innocence in Palestine dying. I don't want to see any of that. Israel's warn them, get out, get out, go, move. They've been very careful about what they take down. They're taking down buildings, housing, the terrorists, and Hamas, and all the big people in Hamas, and they ain't, that's it, hammer down. Netanyahu one said, and I'm paraphrasing, if the terrorists put down their arms there'll be peace in the land
Starting point is 00:08:18 if Israel put down their arms they would be destroyed pretty much immediately Israel is not going to put down their arms and I think Hamas forgot one very important thing about the Israeli people they're a bunch of strong mothers they are some of the most hardworking good strong people peaceful people they made a boo-boo
Starting point is 00:08:52 and now they're all going to pay every single stink in one of them Israel has tolerated them for years I told you first time I was in Israel bomb shelters I told you over my head imagine a missile was taken out over my head
Starting point is 00:09:12 I have the picture a missile being taken out over my head imagine living like that not knowing if it's the next day. Imagine that. And they put up with it. Ain't happening anymore. Now, how the heck of the markets going up throughout all this?
Starting point is 00:09:35 I stopped understanding markets years ago. We just follow the bouncing ball. We're going to continue to tell you this is somewhat of a one-note market. It did finish well today. I'll explain. And what I mean by one note, well, when we scan 1,500 stocks, every day if not more 200 sectors countries up the wazoo and we can basically say and our estimate 70% of what we are seeing are still in downtrends bouncing but in downtrends
Starting point is 00:10:08 20% are what we call okay and 10% maybe are good maybe that's what we mean by close to one note And as we've said to you, it's been some of the big cap and mega cap tech, not Oracle, not Netflix, not Salesforce.com. Apple, not really, but a little bit better. But what did we tell you? Google New Yearly High, Facebook New Yearly High, Nvidia breaking above the 50 day, Broadcom breaking above the 50 day. This is what's working. And then there's a smattering of some software names and just a smattering of other stuff. But then you go through, and we did a webcast at 1 o'clock today, you go through financials.
Starting point is 00:10:59 You go through staples. A lot of the commodities, the housing, the housing related, the airlines, the cruise lines, the casinos, the hotels, all the medical research and medical parts. I can go on and on. Down trends. Up next. We'll explain more. This is the one only Investors Edge. Hi, I'm Gary Kalbaum, hosted a nationally syndicated radio show Investors Edge.

Starting point is 00:13:35 details. This episode is brought to you by Spreaker, the platform responsible for a rapidly spreading condition known as podcast brain. Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confused relatives, and saying things like, sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere where people listen, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin swears are the next big thing. Even better, Spreaker helps you monetize your show with ads, meaning your podcast might someday pay for, well, more microphones.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Start your show today at spreeker.com. Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be able to. Be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming.
Starting point is 00:14:40 With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. To give you an idea how sick things are, Iran is going to become the chair. I'm not, you would think this is a comedy statement, a parody. You would think this is a joke. You would think what I'm about to tell you is from that thing called the onion, which is just pure, sarcasm. Iran is now the chair of the United Nations Human Rights Council. We're not making this up. I wish. I want, did you hear that? Do you know what Iran does to,
Starting point is 00:15:44 huh? Try being gay in Iran. Try changing a pronoun in Iran. No, really. Try saying a word against the in Iran and see if you're ever seen again. It's so weird, ladies and gentlemen. It's the UN. I don't know what the hell happened to these people. It's lunatics. And I'm just always thinking to myself, where the hell is the media just absolute outrage?
Starting point is 00:16:26 There is a pretty damn good chance Iran sponsor. what just happened in Israel. Use their own money for what happened in Israel. What? This is a joke, right? No, it's not a joke. It is lunacy. It's absolute lunacy.
Starting point is 00:16:52 What we are seeing on so many, speechless. No, I'm not speechless. I'm really not. In the middle of New York City, the celebration of the murder. And one looked like a 16 years old has his phone with a swasticker. What? These people weren't born thinking this way.
Starting point is 00:17:28 And then these colleges, Harvard. Harvard. It took a couple of days to speak out. I'm just waiting. Is anybody who gives a ton of money to Harvard? give them the big middle finger, I'm out of here. Ex-president ripped them. Anyway, we're going to be talking about this more because this is big stuff to me,
Starting point is 00:18:10 and should be big stuff to you. Here's the good news. Most of the reporting are on these people that are celebrating the murders. But I will tell you, most people are not celebrating the murders. It's just that the ones that are in. sane are the ones that get talked about and amazingly, all right. The market wrap. Well, the most important part of today, notice how good we're segueing.
Starting point is 00:18:54 The most important part of today, another day of a good finish. We always tell you how important it is to have good finishes in the market. and you had a chance today for the market to have some trouble. I believe that it was around, after opening up pretty well, at around 2 o'clock, the Dow was down 100, and the NASDAQ, which was up, whoa, about 120 was down. The Dow finished up 65, which is not a biggie at all. The S&P finished up 18, not a biggie at all. The NASDAQ 96, NASDAQ 100, 109, better.
Starting point is 00:19:37 And most importantly, as we stated, we told you this, the strength in the big caps were Google, Facebook. Both of them knew high ground today. Nvidia, back above the 50 day, got on the move. Broadcom back above the 50 day, got on the move. And others are weaker. But they started, even Apple, a little bit above the 50 day at the close today on no volume. But it looks like I think this area wants to be higher in the near term.
Starting point is 00:20:19 They closed them well. There's also a select group of software names. We've mentioned the symbols to you. And we're not telling you to buy them, sell them, short them, and cover them. we mentioned these in the last couple of days. Crowdstrike, Palo Alto Network, Z-S-S-S-P-A-N-W-C-R-W-D, simple CDNS, just all software names. That's Kane's design.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Not everyone, there's some weaklings, but they're ones that are sticking out, and we're going to ride them. Close our eyes, hold our nose and pray while we ride them. Knowing, listen carefully again. It really is close to a one-note market. How do I know this? I tell you about my legal pad.
Starting point is 00:21:14 When I scan at night, I pretty much will write down every name. That's above the 50 day. And when we're talking NASDAQ and SNP, NYSC, we're pretty much talking about, I don't know, thousands of names. I'm coming up with not even three figures. And not even the three figures are just some names that are okay. Not special. And we told you yesterday something very important right now, just in case things get better,
Starting point is 00:22:00 which is not going to be easy because 70% of the market sucks, downtrends. But if by chance we're able to say, the broad market, I think they're probably putting in a real good low and they're turning up. What's hitting new high ground first? Typically, they will lead. And it's by no accident. Meta, Facebook was up another six and a half. Google was up three today to 141 and Viti up 11.
Starting point is 00:22:36 This is what we're talking about. And when we said to yesterday, by the way, here is the list of New Yearly High. we hope you're working at this. Why is simple. As we've told you, there's certain rules to follow and a certain way the market works. It's a race. The race is to the swiftest,
Starting point is 00:22:58 the weight race is to the strongest. Of course, we have to go through earnings season and see what happens, and things will fall off. But for the most part, these things are leading because they're leading. We mentioned synopsis, Up another four bucks today.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Another software. We'll go on and on. Up next. More on these markets. News of the day also. This is the one only investors end. Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. Their zero-chafe thanks to four times more stretch than competing brands. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster.
Starting point is 00:24:51 The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere people listen. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin swears are the next big thing. Even better, Spreaker helps you monetize your show with ads, meaning your podcast might someday pay for, well, more microphones. Start your show today at spreeker.com. Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to America is talking. Investors Edge.
Starting point is 00:25:29 He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. And by the way, as I go through the market as we speak and the New Year.
Starting point is 00:25:48 high list. Really can't add too many more names today, even though the market finished up well. What does it tell you? There's a lot of work left to be done. And there's still a lot of, a lot of ugly. A lot. And then at the end of the week, we get some financials reporting. And then next week, big earnings. Now, something happened today. I'm going to bore you a little bit, but something happened today with inflation. The number came in hot. The inflation number was stronger than expected. But something happened.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Interest rates came down. What? I thought if inflation gets hotter, it gets hotter. Interest rates go higher. Yeah, it's not the news. It's how things react to the news. and interest rates came down more and the reason is they just topped out recently
Starting point is 00:26:55 and then now in a short term down move. That's all. And that gave a little bit more impetus to what I call pretty much close to a one-night market of leadership. And that is some big tech slash software and a few other things. Now, got some questions.
Starting point is 00:27:28 One of the big questions we're getting is the crash in food stocks. And may I be clear, a crash does not have to happen in one or two days like 87. When I use the word crash, I would tell you that Hershey's has gone from 277 to 197 to 191 since April. Hershey's. What's going on there? Well, it's not just Hershey's. It's everything. They have mauled. Coke. This doesn't sound like a crash, but Coke has gone from 63 to 53 since July. Well, that's a crash when it comes to a Coke. Pepsi, 192 to 162. Remember, these are Low beta names. They're not supposed to move too much. Smuckers! 160 to 114.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Smuckers. Clorox. And this is a little different. It's not food, but is the staples? 170 to 122. Kellogg just keeps going lower. What's going on? Well, it's simple.
Starting point is 00:28:48 A few things. Number one, in case you don't know on the cereal front, people are buying less cereal. Let me tell you how I know. Every time I walk into Publix, there's two for one. Something is up there for two for one. Raisin brand, two for one. You don't think things are two for one because they're nice.
Starting point is 00:29:12 It's because they need to move them because they're not selling. And then, and I've been reading more and more about it. You've got this Ozempic and What Gevi or whatever the hell that thing called people are taking these diet pills and this talk about side effects and this and that but no you know there's been not enough studies but people have been successful in losing weight i guess what it does it stops you from eating less appetite i you know something to that effect well if you're eating less crap less crap is being sold and there you go with her she's also the price of Coco has skyrocketed. So their cost goes up also. So the double whammy.
Starting point is 00:30:08 So when you hear this talk about, oh, food stocks and beverage stocks, you got to own them because they're very defensive and the recession resistant. And if things get bad in the economy, they'll go higher. Well, they've crashed. So you just never know. And it's always important for you, the investor. You've got to read this stuff. And the best thing you have now is Google. Go search. You could just put in the words, why are food stocks dropping?
Starting point is 00:30:46 And guess what? It'll tell you. Google's so good. As I've always said, when I was a kid, you know what my Google was? Encyclopedia Britannica one year old. And if you like put up the page, Abraham Lincoln's assassination, it was like four paragraphs. And now look what you can get.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Do you know Google was invented by three, I think it was college students? Yeah, or two. Do you know YouTube? Three college students? How to hell did I not think of YouTube? And by the way, they started YouTube as a dating app. And I think YouTube is probably worth now $500 billion. I think they sold it for a few billion, if that even more, even less.
Starting point is 00:31:48 YouTube was sold for $1.65 billion. What is YouTube worth today? Don't you love when I do this online? On radio. This is how I go about things and you find things out. How much YouTube is worth today. And by the way, YouTube was bought out by Google. I'm getting too many different numbers.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Way off. $180 billion. Who knows? It's up there. So the job is to keep watching this stuff. You never know what's going to come of it. Nvidia now with the AI and who knows how good that's going to be. There's a lot of things to be watching out for as we move forward.
Starting point is 00:32:42 Just remember, we've said this forever. Technology leads the markets up and down. But you also have to recognize technology. Some of them will end up being the worst performers ever. Because things go by the wayside. Things become obsolete. And sometimes very, very quickly. on my left screen are all the technology stocks that have been destroyed since 2021 that have not come back.
Starting point is 00:33:09 And some of them are down godly amounts, ungodly amounts. So very important to pay attention. But the big story right now, and this is where I'm parking, the strongest big cap tech acting very well. And maybe a couple of others showing up today, not sure if I'm going to touch, But a couple of more starting to act a little bit better. I was also asked about Eli Lilly. Well, that was up $26. Today after heading straight down to the 50 day,
Starting point is 00:33:43 it has gone straight back up to the old highs. Guess what they got going from? You know what they got going from, right? This is the story. And you Google the words, Eli Lilly diet drugs. Eli Lilly has Terzappetide
Starting point is 00:34:06 and go on and on and on and on so you got to pay attention you got to work at this you got to stay on top of in case you don't know in the morning whole Wall Street Journal Hope New York Times with the New York Times
Starting point is 00:34:22 some of the idiots I got to hold my nose because you know what they are and don't get me started on Thomas Friedman this morning on MSNBC Israel this while Israeli people are getting slaughtered. There's just so many
Starting point is 00:34:37 dead-eared jackasses that think their geniuses. Dead-eared. People spending their time ripping on Israel and their government while the people are slaughtered. And he just sits there and I went to Harvard and I went in, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep,
Starting point is 00:34:55 you're a jackass. Anyway, I got asked about gold. I don't know. I would have thought when inflation was up at 9, 10% gold would be up another 10,000. Seriously. I don't know what to tell you. I think it's dollar related, but I don't understand why gold didn't skyrocket. Some people tell me maybe because it's getting interfered by the crypto. I don't think that is anything to do with it. So what we just do, we haven't bought it. We traded it once. I think we made 10 cents. And the
Starting point is 00:35:37 Gold miners have had a good three or four days, but that's all I can tell you. It's one of those things that remains in a downtrend but is bounced. So you gold bugs, God bless you. Hope it works out for you. Up next, this that, and the other thing. This is the one only investors edge. Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. Starting point is 00:38:20 What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Action! In the Gester's Edge. With Gary Culpa. In the news, Steve Scalise looks like he was named Speaker of the House for the Republicans. whatever you think anything is going to change anything's going to stop the train going down the track on debt and deficits no Scalise has been there forever also how long has he been there a ton he's voted on the debt and deficits also next in the news hey Republican lawmakers in New York are moving to expel George Santos excellent Get rid of this sleazy, slimy, scummy.
Starting point is 00:39:31 By the way, he's in the Republican Party. Just get rid of this guy. He's a crook in plain sight. Speaking of that, the guy Menendez on the Democrat side. Get rid of him. He should be expelled. They caught him red-handed. They caught him with gold bars and $400,000 in cash at his house.
Starting point is 00:39:53 The guy got paid off with bribes. To help out this, that, and the other thing. Not to mention all the insider trading. In the news, you know, I'm a huge professional wrestling fan. I'm the biggest professional wrestling fan on earth. Before it was popular, I was the fan. There's a group called AEW. They did a anti-Semitic skit last night
Starting point is 00:40:32 where the Jewish champion named Michael Jacob Free A guy took out a roll of quarters with the name Friedman on him. And this guy, Michael Jacob Freeman, the champion, has already said that when he was a kid. They were thrown quarters at them because he was Jewish. Do you believe this AEW owner and producers put an anti-Semitic skit out this week? Are these the biggest schmucks on earth? I tweeted to the owner, his name's Tony Khan. He did not answer me.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I may have to bug him. The good news is they are taking heat. They're getting heat for it. Maybe somewhere along the line, somebody's going to say something. Dupiter people. Unbelievable. Dufuses in the news, if you can.
Starting point is 00:41:50 And it ain't easy. There are videos and pictures. heartbreaking videos and pictures of a wife finding that her husband died while they were on air. I mentioned earlier other things. If you can take it,
Starting point is 00:42:16 do you know what my next thought process is? What are we doing about the border? Do you know, there's a bunch, I think untold amount of thousands of what they call gotaways here. You know what a gotaway is? Exactly what it is. They got away.
Starting point is 00:42:37 What if Hamas planted a bunch of people at our border knowing it's porous, and they got away. And they're here. You know, the State Department speaker was asked that yesterday, and he gave this answer. Well, you know, we're doing this. We got intelligence, this and intelligence. Like it was not a biggie. do you know all the synagogues in this country now are going to have big police presence
Starting point is 00:43:14 kosher markets police presence and if they can get through the border if they can get through the border of Israel and do what they did what's to that's in the news just remember I'm Mr. Logic. I'm just a big believer. One plus one equals. We'll see how it goes. And that's pretty much my little news of the day. Nothing new on the FTX thing of a Bob except the stupid girlfriend, drop dime on Sam Bank McFeed. He's going to go to jail for a long while. They've got to make a, they're going to make an example of him. whatever you know what we think of crypto we were 100% right about it years ago we said 90% of the coins would drop 90% of more with most going to zero but we also said probably as a trading
Starting point is 00:44:36 vehicle they'll have a theorem and bitcoin here it'll just stay here and the reason it doesn't go to zero is because it's owned by a select few that own all of it and if they tried sell and forget about it. Even though what's her face says it's going to a million, she's so full of crap, it's not even funny. Anyway, we're going to still treat it technically. If it breaks out, we'll let you know.
Starting point is 00:45:01 If some of the secondary stocks that trade these things break out, we'll tell you. We don't mind, but just know what you're getting into. As we always tell you, we do not play companies with zero sales that lose a ton of money.
Starting point is 00:45:17 We don't play schlock. And you know what that does? It keeps us out of trouble. And we abhor when anybody goes on radio or TV and starts giving out dog crap. And actually, I should not be putting down the dog crap. And nothing against the companies. It's stocks. I saw somebody give out a dollar stock on TV that trades 30,000 shares a day.
Starting point is 00:45:46 And it turns out, oh, family owns. investment banking owns oh but it was disclosed you know where we stand just remember markets are tough enough don't make it tougher you have a great evening drive carefully i'll be on with varnie and company fox business network tomorrow 9 a.m don't miss it and when you get home do like we do quite simple make sure you hug your family make sure you hug your children they will feel better you will feel better i promise peace out all thanks for joining bye bye this has been investor Edge with Gary Cultbaum on BizTalk.
