Investor's Edge with Gary Cultbaum.
Straight talk about you and your money.
Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum.
And walk once again to Investors Edge.
I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host.
A thanks of being with us today.
Glad you're here, ladies and gentlemen.
Happy that you are listening.
I believe it's 7-Eleven, 2003.
I believe it's Tuesday.
Yes, it's 7-Eleven.
look at that.
And I think today, doesn't 7-Eleven give out free slurpees or something like that?
I know there's one day a year and they pretty much run out pretty quickly.
Anyway, hope you had a good day.
We're going to get going with the markets right out of the get-go.
Yesterday, we just added it was one of the best days we have seen a while, broad market-wise,
where more and more names, what was the exact words we said, just almost the exact words.
Setups.
Just a lot of things were setting up to move higher.
And typically, when you get that type of action and you have to be under the idea that we have a good eye for this stuff,
that maybe the market is going to do some good things.
things. It's all we said. Today's market wrap is brought to you by Investment-Models.com.
That's Jim Roarback, one of the great market timers. No gray areas with the man you're either in or out of the market.
What is proprietary indicators, go check it out. Investment-dash-models.com. Well, Dow up 316, S&P up 29, NASDAQ 75, NASDAQ
173, transports 221, advanced declines pretty good, new highs picked up. And I must tell you,
the NASDAQ was lagging all day to day because it was another lagging day for some of the
mega caps because of whatever the news is about rebalancing and all that fun stuff. We're just
letting you know it was another darn good day. And as we also stated,
The oils woke up on Friday, specifically the OIH.
And I have to tell you, I want to buy them.
They haven't given me a pullback, up another 3% plus today.
Sometimes they do not give you a chance, ladies and gentlemen.
Now, we can sit here and talk what was weak.
What I'd rather tell you about is what was strong.
and more importantly for those of you that are into mutual funds and things like that
I'm going to mention something and it's pretty simple if the S&P can break out above
we'll call it 4456 4458 we're going to get
more to the upside. It'll be a break above the last four weeks. If the Dow, the lagging
Dow can break above 34-589 and just a little than 34-713, the Dow joins in to a certain extent.
Now mind you, the Dow is lagged because there's some pigs in the Dow. That's.
said, a few started to come on today. Salesforce.com. They had some news today that they're
raising prices, and it jumped. It's been weak on a relative basis. Jumped eight bucks and
change. That was about 50 Dow points. Boeing tried once to break out, failed, maybe starting to
try again. Go take a look. That was up five. The weak, big oil started to come on today.
When you have a chance, go look at the XLE and the XOP, and you will see it subtly turning up.
Leave no doubt, though, the OIH, the oil services, is much stronger. What else? You know how when we had
the bare market, we would always say to you, good news was bad news and bad news was terrible
news. Well, when you get into uptrends, bad news could be good news and good news gets going.
Well, they had some news on the Activision and Microsoft and maybe that deal can get done.
Who the hell knows?
But what did it do?
Electronic Arts, up seven bucks today.
Take 2 Interactive up seven bucks today, both at new yearly highs, in sympathy.
That's what we mean by when you get good markets, any news will lift some things.
Let me tell you what we're also getting.
And as you know, we are no fan of Kathy Wood in the Arc Funds in that.
Anybody who has the ability to lose 80% in the bare market, and let me be clear, her ARKK fund went from 15970 to a low to 2940.
We're letting you know today it broke above another range.
Not the highs of last August, but the highs of June and February.
And what does she own?
A lot of what we call, well, she has her own names for it.
We call it a bunch of lots of money-losing speculative stuff that when the market can get going, the market can get on them.
So guess what?
Some of the worst crap in the market.
And this is not an indictment of the companies.
When we use the term crap, we're basically talking about companies that are way, way down.
lose a lot of money, but the market's in that moment where, what's the cliche, lifting all boats?
I really don't want to mention names, but I'll just give you an idea.
Here's one.
They lost 44 cents a share last quarter.
That was up 4.85% today.
Here's one.
the stock has gone from just in February 150 down to 80 was up 9% today.
By the way, the all-time high was 307.
So they'll lift.
Oh, here's one.
I got, you know what, I'll name this one.
Roku.
Roku.
You remember that?
Well, it closed today at $75.43.
cents off of a high and we're not making this up $491 in July of 21 but it was up seven to
half bucks today on heavy volume coming up the right side on gargantuan losses they had some news
but it wasn't any news that should make something go up 11 percent but we're in this market so
I'm just letting you know the Kathy Wood archetype stocks started.
There have been a few, but they really started to light up today.
And we actually think they can go for a bit.
And of course, you got to babysit because a lot of money loses.
And why is that?
Because when we go back into a bare market, what have we told you?
bare markets will drop stocks anything that loses money 70 80 90 percent we experience that
but right now you're on the other side of that so they are lifting that so just letting
you know very good day today we call it beta that's what we call it the market's getting
some higher beta stuff right now
But notwithstand that, the financials are actually doing a bit better.
V's and MasterCard New Yearly High.
J.P. Morgan got an upgrade today.
I think that was close, though a lot of them are bringing up the rear.
And just overall, and you know what the weak stuff is?
Continues to be.
Food, drug, beverage, tobacco household products.
The market is betting on a better economy.
And as we have said to you, we think it has to do with the fact.
that federal spending by the government on so many things, it's going to be all debt,
but still goes into GDP and we think that's part of what's going on.
And we get asked all the time, isn't valuations ridiculously high?
Absolutely.
Isn't the Fed still raising rates?
Absolutely.
Isn't 10-year yield?
Well, the 10-year yield closed today at 3.98, back below 4 will take that.
Isn't that all bad news?
The market doesn't care right now.
Up next, more on the markets. Lots more. I'm Gary. This is the one only Investors Edge.

I recently spoke with IBM's new director of research, Jake Embatta. We discussed his vision for the
of quantum computing. At IBM research, what we always do is answer what is the future of computing,
whether it's coming up with new algorithms, coming up with better AI, coming up with quantum,
or coming up with just how do different accelerators go together. It's our DNA to answer the question
of what is the future. Isn't it a perfect problem for IBM because you kind of need to have a legacy
of building stuff? Yes. Building actual physical machines. Yeah, it's why. It's why. It's
I came to IBM. I wanted the experience, the culture of building hard things that others have not done
before. Where do you imagine we are in the timeline of this technology? There will come a point
when it will mature, right? My cell phone is a mature technology at this point. How far are we
from that point with Conta? By 2029, we'll build the first fault-tolerant quantum computer. That is one
that can run a very, very large, large problem.

You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming.
With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this.
So we are just letting you know.
And by the way, it's industrials.
It's materials.
It's auto dealers.
It's transport.
It's travel.
It's housing.
It's housing related.
You know what?
Got an upgrade today?
Zillow.
Their earnings and revenues are just way down year over year.
It's at a new yearly high.
You know,
what Zillow is, online real estate stuff. Stock close at 52, but we want you to remember,
had a high of 208 in February of 21. But we don't care about 21. We care about the present.
There's another one called Redfin, a real estate database. Well, let me give you a little bit on
that one. Hit a high in February of 21 of 98. It closed at 15 today.
but it's at a new yearly high.
Now, for me, it gets disqualified on playing.
Last quarter sales down 45% and they lost 55 cents a share.
In fact, the last four quarters, they've lost $1.60, $2.75 a share, which is a lot of cake.
So we'd stay away, but we're letting you know the housing and housing,
related are getting a bid. We're just reporting the news to you. What you do with it, you decide.
And now oil prices, which is bad at the pump in a couple of weeks, but good for oil stocks,
if you look at USO, it's starting to rise. And that's helped the oil stocks. That's a part of the
market also. So we don't want to sound like Joe Bull. We just want to tell you that the market
improved again today.
And how do we know?
We've already scanned a thousand names.
If that changes, we'll let you know.
Even some retail waking up and they've been dead.
And then there's some things that your host, handsome and buffed Gary, does not understand.
So on June 2nd, we said to you, we thought the broad market was coming out of their coma.
Little did we know how much.
But let me give you an example of
Gary does not understand some things sometimes.
Here's a company called Restoration Hardware.
On June 2nd, it finished up $7 to $252.
Down from $351 in January.
Stock got squashed.
Last quarter's earnings were down 67% revenue.
revenues down 23%. Since June 2nd, it's gone from 252 to 365, breaking above January's high,
even though the last two quarters earnings were down 49 and 67, revenues 14 and 23.
What is that telling you? Well, they operate 37 outlet stores in 31 states and Canada,
offering hardware, bathware, furniture, and lighting. Okay, whatever. If earnings do not recover,
that means valuations go into the trees.
The market is betting that earnings are going to recover.
And by the way, I can go through a crap load of names just like this.
Markets just don't go up.
It's usually a reason.
Now, we do know there are points in time where there are bubbles.
That's usually the end of cycles.
So we'll find out in the months ahead.
All I can tell you is that the market's strong.
It's becoming more broad-based.
It now includes energy, which was dead.
You're getting not all, but you're getting some retail lighting up.
And I consider restoration hardware retail.
And I don't have much bad to say.
The bad part is on the sentiment front.
It's too much bullishness all across the board.
But what have we told you about?
Sentiment is a secondary indicator.
It's not primary.
Price is everything.
Everything else is noise.
And there's your story.
I'm just hoping some of these oils pull back.
By the way, the OIH is led by Schlumbergerge and Halliburton,
and they're persistent since Friday on the move in oil prices.
And again, let me repeat.
If anything changes, we'll let you know.
But in the last two days, the market's got stronger.
Now, the Dow is just getting back what it lost over the last three days.
But the Dow is within a few hundred points of the highs of the year.
We'll see if it can get moving.
And I say that because some of the worst crap in the Dow woke up.
3M got an upgrade today.
Worst stock in the Dow just, yeah, I'd say just about.
Now Walgreens is, that was up 4% in change.
If that can move, that would be a big help.
So we'll keep you apprised.
But I've already scanned a bunch.
And now some beta.
And as I said, the ARC funds go scan them.
Symbol ARKK-R-K-E-W have moved above range.
What does that mean for tomorrow?
Beats the hell out of me.
We just weigh the evidence.
A.R. KF is another one of her funds.
And we are not telling you to buy them, sell them, short them, or cover them.
We're just telling you they broke above range today.
It is your money. You please decide.
As always, in anything you do, make sure you put fail safes in there.
What's a fail safe?
Never lose big.
How's that for a concept?
The other part of the equation is the 10-year yield.
As you know, it's been rifling it to the upside, but you know what it did?
It went right to the highs of February and it's fallen back off.
It hit 4.094.
You know what February was?
4.091.
So you're back to 3.980, so that's not bad.
Very simply, as I've said for you ever, lower interest rates and lower oil is always good news.
Now, near-term oil prices are going up and I can 1,000% promise you in the next,
Because they're quicker raising prices.
Next 10 days, you're going to get a good 10, 15 cent pop to the upside.
But maybe the market's saying economy better.
We'll see.
We'll see.
We just followed the bouncing ball.
Pretty much everything else is noise.
But good day.
And believe me, I look for negative things.
I can tell you some of the things that are weak, it's the minority.
Up next, what is the next?
what else is going on?
I'm Gary. This is the one only investors' edge.

Hi, I'm Dr. Jay Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists
to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter.
In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola,
who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal.
A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches.
Like, I get a stomach ache every time that I eat.
and it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just have a stomach kick every day.
Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy.
And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with.
So that's when we deep dive.
We deep dive into your medication.
We deep dive into your OTC medication.
And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change.
Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your
stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeartRadio.
Listen now wherever you get your podcasts.

You're listening to America is talking.
Investors Edge.
He's got to be pleased with that.
The crowd is just on his feet here.
He's a Cinderella boy.
With Gary Colbomb.
It comes highly recommended.
You're going to feel better if you talk to him.
And walk once again to Investors Edge.
And by the way, to give you an idea, what we mean by negative sentiment, two bullish sentiment, valuations off the charts,
I got an email this morning, and I double-checked.
The spread between the S&P 500's Ford earnings yield and the 10-year treasury yield is hovering near its lowest since 2007.
and they say that's worrisome.
And again, we read all this
and because we want to make sure we're not paying
$10 for a $5 bill.
We'll see.
Here's another one I got sent today.
The weight of the top 10 stocks in the S&P 500% of market capitalization
is 31.7%.
but they're contributing only 21% of the earnings, which means they're not, you get my point.
There's a lot of that going on.
The other thing that we get all the time is what is the earnings, price earnings multiple?
We're told with the S&P is over 20 now.
When historically the number is usually 15, and we have rates going higher,
how can the market go up and if you would have told me six months ago the Fed would be raising rates to five and three quarters
if you would have told me six months ago some of the earnings numbers I'm saying if you'd have
told me the yields were back near four I would have told you the S&P would be at 3,200 as a guess
catch my drift.
So we get that all the time,
but we watch Price,
we watch the institutions,
and they're in right now.
In the news,
and this is just sickness,
there is the,
has nothing to do with you and your money, by the way.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations
released Leslie Van Houghton.
You know she is?
she served 53 years of a life sentence in the Charles Manson murders they released her what does a person have to do in some of these states to be in jail for their life the families the family of this event are beside themselves that and even the governor she's been paroled before and the governor uh to his credit gavinus
him, nope, vetoed it. This time he said he couldn't. It was done. So the state appeals court
ruling that she should be granted parole. And again, I'm just thinking to myself,
what does a matter with these people? There is too much caring about the crook versus the victim.
A life sentence.
I'm sorry for
gruesome murder.
Anyway, in the news.
I have a question.
Isn't government supposed to work for us?
Aren't they supposed to answer to us?
If I Gary Kalbom
asked government for an answer,
shouldn't they have to answer me?
Or you?
Good question, right?
There is a whole thing going on.
Of course, the media has their thumbs up there.
You know what?
Because it's their guy in the White House.
They found cocaine in the White House.
And they're going to brief Congress, the Secret Service, on Thursday.
On the cocaine.
Why aren't they briefing us?
Do we not matter?
By the way, this is part of the whole carnival and escapable.
paid of government and the secretiveness and the insider trading and the corruption.
I was just, I'm reading this headline, what is taking so long?
Secret Service will brief Congress on the White House cocaine on Thursday as search for
the culprit reaches the ninth day.
They know who it is.
Ladies and gentlemen, you know what we are?
We are just puppets.
We work for them.
them. That's what it comes down to now. They got it done. We work for them. In the news, it's Amazon Prime Day, today and tomorrow, I believe. In case you don't know, we're going to give you a little help with this. If you are not an Amazon Prime member, you can become one as a trial for 30 days and get whatever you want and then shut down your Amazon Prime.
so just letting you know
we're also letting you know that
Walmart Best Buy
Target and others are now
competing with Amazon
so they don't
cannibalize
or take away from
their sales because
some of the deals on Amazon
as I'm reading it pretty damn good
so just letting you know
that's going on it's pretty much
what a smart idea
by Amazon creating this.
Just a very smart idea.
And I must tell you,
the amount of trucks I am seeing Amazon on the road,
gargantuan,
when I get my bills now,
I can't begin to tell you how many
Amazon's are on there.
And it irks me because it does not describe
on my Amex bill,
what's it for?
I have to go to my Amazon.
account for it, but it really is worth it. Delivery comes quick. I just got my father's,
he's 92 years old, he just fell. I just got him a chair. It's one of these chairs that are for
elderly, they're higher up, and you can press a button, they lift you up so you can stand up
easier. Amazon, cheaper than everybody else. Amazon got it there. They got it there.
within a couple of days when if we would order from a, what was it like a drug company,
medical supply, whatever, two weeks. So whatever they're doing, they're doing. And all we've ever
asked for in life is service and delivery. And I know nothing's perfect. You never know. But
just let you know, it's Amazon Prime. If you need stuff, you go check it out. And I guess,
you go to the search bar on there and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and Amazon's going to do some hefty business in the next couple of days.
And I have to tell you, I still remember when Bezos came out with Amazon, it was a hot stock and stuff.
A certain, I can mention them, CNBC, I don't mention them often.
They used to make fun of them because he had this funky laugh.
and when he laughed he kind of looked funky they actually kind of made fun of him at the time
and this guy just be amazing just absolutely amazing what they have been able to do here in central
well i live near i am in northeast central florida towards daytona about 10 miles from me on i4
they have one of these amazon fulfillment centers i can't begin to tell you how big this
joiners.
This is one of those places where that clown, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, wouldn't let Amazon be in New York,
wherever that was.
I don't know exactly what they were going to do there.
It was a fulfillment center, but also some high-paying salaries.
All I know is it's helped the economy here.
Yet they keep voting in that socialist, Marxist, dufous.
anyway
that's your Amazon Prime today
and is there anything else
I wanted to cover
that should do it
wanted to start with the markets first
because another good day
and what have we taught you
about the end of the day
guess what was going on at the end of the day today
was bought up
up next
this that and the other thing
or whatever else. This is the one only investors' edge.

Action! Investers Edge with Gary Culper.
And welcome once again to Investor's Edge. Thanks for being with us today.
you having a good day. At the outset, we started off talking about the action in the market.
Two very good days, the last two days. We had two or three crummy days last week, but really good
days to start this week. The emails we get from all of you, a lot of the why. A lot of it is
why and I get it I get it news just giving you a little heads up on it have you noticed when you
turn on your local news the first 10 or 15 minutes murder bad weather traffic accidents
drownings have you ever noticed that do you know
why they do that? I guess it sells. I guess it sells. Do you ever turn on your local news and the first
thing out of the box is about a hero or a great teacher who won the state award for teacher of
the year? No, that's safe for near the end of the news. What else do we get now? Well, we get a lot of
opinion. You know that, right? And the opinion, the job of the opinion people, is when their guy is
running the joint, their guy or gal, to talk it up. When their guy or girl is not running the joint,
it's to talk it down. You catch him where I'm going?
Remember, we have no bias.
We have no agenda.
We have no ulterior motive.
We think they all suck.
They've proven it.
But we've also told you something else here.
We've also told you something else.
We have never been more optimistic on most of us.
And I mean that.
We mean that.
we've never been more pessimistic on all of them and we mean that also but you know what we mean by us
getting up in the morning to do better for ourselves and our family working hard educating ourselves
doing whatever we can and i don't know if you read about these things but i do amazing medical
breakthroughs are going on right now. Medical advancements right now. Production
advancements going on right now. I said to yesterday in the oil patch, some are saying
that they make as much money at $42 oil as $80 oil because of new advancements.
Technological advancements. Ladies and gentlemen,
I try to tell my sons, you know, when I was a kid, I had the encyclopedia Britannica from my information and was a year old.
Now you can Google anything, pretty much, anything, and learn anything.
Languages.
How to do this, how to do that.
History.
and it's not just in words, it's in video.
So when everybody, well, when a bunch of people talk things down,
and believe me, there are boo birds out there on the market every day, God bless them.
Maybe the market's telling you something different.
We don't know.
Typically, we find out later.
We just watch the market.
And if it changes again, we'll let you know.
early I said I'm surprised
if you would have said to me six months ago
all these things that have been going on
I would have probably laughed at you
why
because you know it usually matters to markets
it's earnings
it's sales
it's the direction of interest rates
and the like
but it also likes
if the economy is going to accelerate
and earnings are going to be strong, which would bring valuations down.
So I just wanted to do a few minutes on this because we know what you hear.
We hear the same thing.
If I go on Twitter right now, there's a bunch of people that are saying,
you've got to short the market.
It's going to crash.
Some of the brightest, smartest people are saying that.
They've been saying it for months, and they'll be right one day.
They weren't right today.
They weren't right yesterday.
So we'll keep doing what we're doing.
And it's pretty simple.
With focus, pay attention to the markets and what they're telling us.
And right now, since June 2nd, it's simply broadening out on the belief the economy is not going into the craft.
and where it stops, we don't know, but we'll be ready.
You all have a great evening drive carefully.
When you get home, do like we do, quite simple.
Make sure you hug your family, hug your children.
You will feel better.
They will feel better.
We promise.
Thanks for joining us, everybody.
Same time tomorrow.
Peace out.
I'll take care.
Bye-bye.
