Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colbom, your host day. Thanks of being with us today.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Glad you're here, ladies and gentlemen. Happy that you are listening. It is October 26, 2023. Hope you're having a good day. First and foremost, I must state, I forgot to mention yesterday. Congratulations to the Arizona Diamondbacks. As you know, I have been on the great KFNN Radio 1510 in that beautiful area for many a year,
Starting point is 00:01:26 and the people there have been so nice, kind, and generous to me that I must. Even though my lowly Mets cannot even get near the playoffs, congratulate the Arizona Diamondbacks. Wish them well in the World Series. Hope they win it all. I really didn't follow them this year, but I do know they were not supposed to get to the, to this point. So well, well, well done. You know, I've always said you get to the playoffs in
Starting point is 00:02:06 baseball. It will be the team that's the hottest. And they're playing some darn good ball and beat some pretty darn good teams. I will tell you that. So again, well, well done. A bit of good news, right? Anyway, thanks for being here. This is Investor's Edge. It's serious talk on everything that affects you, the markets, your money, the economy, and jobs, unemployment, and taxes, and deficits, and spending, and scams, and shams, and corruption, specifically out of D.C., you know what they've been doing to us, nightmarish, but maybe we'll leave them alone today.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Israel, we've been starting the show there. Let me just say this. You know, they went in and they're doing little things, you know, setting up for going in. The most asked question I have of me being a Jewish man, been to Israel on several occasions. I'm going to say I've spent at least a month overall in Israel,
Starting point is 00:03:31 getting to understand the country and people as much as you can in a month. But it's pretty easy, if you ask me. I'm being asked, what do I think when you see, not the Arab state, but American students Jewish students students of all shapes and sizes praising Hamas
Starting point is 00:04:07 not just for the Palestinians but actually saying Israel deserved what they got and to be clear that is what they are saying what do I think of that
Starting point is 00:04:24 you know there are certain subjects certain issues certain occurrences certain happenings where how do you put your mind on something how do you actually put your thoughts to something? I'm not going to describe it again, but I have described for you what these animals have done. And if you didn't know, and you're not that, it's not even about squeamish, you really should go see and check what these animals did to the innocent infants, babies, kids, children, teenagers, adults, elderly, infirmed and what they did and they're given an excuse for it. The other part of it is I ask, where are these students getting their information from? Israel does not occupy.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Israel just put up a border just like any other country does to defend themselves because Hamas is there, slobbing missiles over into Israel every now and then. I told you the first time I was in Israel, I'm not making this up, I have the video and I have the pictures. While there, for 10 days, it was five or six times, we had sirens. One time walking out of the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv, in the middle of the day in sunshine. sirens go off, I look up into the sky and the Iron Dome is taking out a missile over my head. Imagine living like that. Imagine that. That's what's been going on there. In case you did not know, Israel left Gaza. They gave the keys to them. The police left, the army left, the people left. They just went into Israel.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Here's the keys. Go do what you got to do. and let me tell you what happened. The billions that went there, Hamas took and built tunnels and got munitions and gave the people big gigantic middle finger. What you also don't hear is, do you know how many Palestinians go into Israel each day and work? A bazillion of them. So all this stories are a bunch of bull crap. I don't know how it got into the, well, I know how it got there, teachers,
Starting point is 00:07:28 but you would think these people, these students, who whatever would actually do some homework, some invest, nope. And it comes, I don't know, we're in this TikTok, Instagram generation, where people flock to this, that, and the other thing, You ever read about, oh, some idiot does a stupid trick and he had a billion views? No, I'm not making this up. Stupid tricks and have a billion views. So I don't know what happened, where it came from.
Starting point is 00:08:07 They're tearing down posters of the kidnapping. I just don't know. So there is this game of tick-tac-toe. I've said this before. If you're playing against somebody who just understands the game, you can never win so you just don't play. So as I watch these students and I watch whoever else is doing whatever else and saying whatever else, there's nothing you can do. That's all. And you understand that there is a hate and jealousy of the Jewish state for building such a magnificent democracy and economy on a sliver of land.
Starting point is 00:08:49 in the Middle East, while next door, it's a crap hole brought to you by a bunch of terrorists. But Gary, some of these Arab leaders are not siding with Israel. Well, they can't. But you know what they are doing, quietly partnering with Israel. They're not idiots. What is the outcome of all this? I don't know. But I do know one thing.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Time's up for the bad guys. And people can yap all they want. The squad can be all upset all they want. They can go screw themselves. Time's up for the bad guys. Israel has had missiles rained on them for a long, long time, and they put up with it. And would pinprick them back. That ain't happen anymore.
Starting point is 00:09:50 And the reason why they're slowly letting out hostages? Because these cowards, these wimps, are scared crappless now because they know what's coming. and they're doing everything they can to try and stall them by offering here and offering there the latest. We'll give you everybody, but you got to stop this. Imagine they go in and murder 1,400 infants, babies, children, teenagers, adults, elderly, and then they say, hey, we'll release your hostages if you leave us alone. Yeah, that'll work. Anyway, just wanted to let you know because I'm getting a lot of those questions.
Starting point is 00:10:32 If I stood in front of these students and tried to explain, I think they would be throwing darts at me. Did you see some Jewish students in a college library, had to lock up the library because they were going insane out there and they were afraid of getting their asses kicked by other students? Did you see the video? It's insanity. The Israelis protest in peace, the others protest in violence. Case closed. Up next, the worsening markets. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is, Spreaker makes the whole process simple. Starting point is 00:14:12 someday pay for, well, more microphones. Start your show today at spreeker.com. Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming.
Starting point is 00:14:40 With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. Okay. So let me start with what I call the trees. The trees. Overall, the market, just overall. Number one, the indices had a very rough day again today. The bigger indices.
Starting point is 00:15:16 We have warned you about the bigger indices that they were starting to come in. But the trees I'm letting you know feels, and I'm saying this, while the Dow was down 251, the NASDAQ down another 225, the NASDAQ 100 down another 272, the transports down another 235.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I'm actually saying to you, the markets are what we call, oversold. and all that means is in the near term, not pinpoint, meaning tomorrow, but right now in and around here, oversold means it feels like, just a little feel that enough is being done on that side to where gets a little washed out and you maybe get some bounces. not in everything, but I think on a little bit of a, I don't even want to use the word overall basis, but on some areas.
Starting point is 00:16:30 What do I mean by that? Well, what have been the worst areas in the market? We have been telling you to avoid financials of all stripes. We have been telling you to avoid transports of all stripes, especially the airlines, cruise lines, casinos, hotels. We have been telling you to avoid any number of other areas, industrial types, of all stripes, restaurants, consumer staples. not all but a lot of the commodities, the medicals of all stripes,
Starting point is 00:17:22 drugs, not all, housing related, semiconductors, most all. A lot of the down names. We have highlighted a few, even today, at the close, we had 702 new yearly lows today, still elevated we think that
Starting point is 00:17:47 maybe some of those worst areas you hear the breath maybe we'll get some relief here just feels like it a little bit that will not change the forest the big picture the downtrends
Starting point is 00:18:12 remember what we tell you downtrends are down two up one down four up two I think we may be getting into position of an up two so got a little bit of that but I really can't go further than that where does that come from well there are little things that I see every now and then that kind of stick out first and foremost today with those bad numbers today advanced declines were 1920 on the New York and 1921 on the now That's not so bad.
Starting point is 00:18:51 And believe it or not, the rustle in midcaps were, the small and midcaps were actually bounced a little today. So maybe, not 100% and it's just the trees. The forest is the big picture and it sucks. And that's based on simplicity. Hardly any new highs. A ton of new lows. But something else, maybe still.
Starting point is 00:19:19 sticking out that did not help today. And I must tell you, I'm surprised. Yields plunged a little bit today. The 10-year yield went from 4953, 4.953 to 4.845. And actually, after the markets being the big indices weak early, they rallied never to be up, but the Dow was only down 50. And the NASDAQ, which was down 280, was only down 100. But then into the closing. it's still sold off. But I just would not be surprised to get a little bit of, we'll call it relief, but I repeat, will not change the big picture. That said, Google down another three and a half today.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Facebook down 11.5. on their earnings. Microsoft gaps up yesterday? I think it finished up eight after being up 12 was down 12 today. Nvidia down 13 today. Tesla down 6. Netflix, which acted well on earnings, down 7. Apple down 440 breaking the 200 day.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Adobe down 6. Broadcom down 23. We warned you, didn't we? We said they were coming after the mega camps. And they did. and we're actually surprised at a couple of things today. Microsoft, good reaction to earnings yesterday. Day before, closed it 3.30, 53, close at 3.40, 67.
Starting point is 00:21:05 So it was actually up 10 bucks yesterday. The thing, though, was it was up 16 or 17 at one time. Gave it all back and more today. Really? Yeah. It did. And by the way, I said it was down, what, 12? It was actually almost down 13 today.
Starting point is 00:21:27 It's up a little bit in the aftermarket. We have aftermarket reports and Amazon's up a couple of bucks, yay. So some things are bouncing. Just letting you know overall it's icky, it's mushy. And more and more stocks today, breaking, what we call cracking. And you know what we mean by cracking. Imagine stock trades between 100 and 100 and 10 for three months. And today, on triple the volume, it breaks below 100.
Starting point is 00:22:04 That's what we mean by cracking. Say, a stock's been riding up the 50-day moving average for six months, and today it broke the 50-day to the downside on triple volume, that's cracking. Guess what? More and more names. And that's that. It was icky. So with the close, the Dow down 251, 32,784, S&P 50 to 4137, NASDAQ 225 to 1259, NASDAQ 100 down 272 to 14109,
Starting point is 00:22:39 transports 235 to 13654, and man, the transports have just been rammed. Do you know seven days ago? It would hit 15231. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 15, 2, 3, 1 to 13, 6, 5, 4. 11% in 6 days. And oil prices haven't even gone up during those days. Up next. What else are we seeing?
Starting point is 00:23:14 This is the one only investors' edge. Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Starting point is 00:25:12 Start your show today at spreeker.com. Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy.
Starting point is 00:25:34 With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. By the way, we were making. unknown, we're still under the radar. But it's so amazing to see more and more people writing op-eds that are much more famous than us that are just completely agreeing with everything we've been saying for two years. The latest op-ed Wall Street Journal from, let's see, somebody named Mickey Levy, I think a famed economist. You know what the
Starting point is 00:26:12 headline is, we're still paying for the Federal Reserve's blunders. Isn't it interesting they're telling us about the Federal Reserve blunders after they already screwed up everything when we were the ones that were telling you while they were doing all the stupidity that they were stupid? Everybody's agreeing with everything we've been saying. Jamie Diamond yesterday. Head of JP Morgan. Blasting the Federal Reserve for being wrong.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Duh. Duh. You know, tongue and cheek, when I hear Janet Yellen predict something, I say, please somebody ask what day it is. And let me repeat something. We take no joy in ripping our leaders and the people running the joint. No joy. We want to compliment our leaders.
Starting point is 00:27:08 We want to praise our leaders. We want to take them out to dinner. But they have shown that. they suck and they're corrupt and they self-deal and they pay off and they give away while giving us the big gigantic gargantuan middle finger right at us the taxpayer our debt is up 2.1 trillion remember they cut the debt ceiling deal hey we did that's debt ceiling deal Do you know what they said to us? We did it for you.
Starting point is 00:27:53 We did it for the Americans. The American people. We're here for you. This will solidify us for ages to come. The Inflation Reduction Act. This, that, and the other thing. Well, Biden's already out admitting nothing to do with inflation. It was all green.
Starting point is 00:28:13 And in five months, our debt has gone from, 31.5 trillion to 33.6 trillion. These people are a bunch of corrupt, elected. I'm not going to use the next word. Think about that. And the Republicans signed off on it. Yes, they fought it, but they signed off on it. If I was heading the Republican Party, I would have had the Republican Party by time at 8 p.m. on every network and have two posters. One of what the spending was and where it was going. And number two, what the debt is. And I would have had the American people behind me. And we would have chopped off about a trillion a half of the debt this year.
Starting point is 00:29:11 But no. Do you know why the Republicans didn't? Because if they ever get in power with the presidency, they can do it too. Just remember, they wind and complain, and then Trump won. And Trump campaigned, oh, I'm the greatest. I'm the greatest negotiator of all time. Art of the deal. It's going to be easy. We're going to cut the deficit and cut the debt.
Starting point is 00:29:39 and within two weeks of him sit in the Oval Office added $600 billion a year in spending. So he lied. And do you know why he lied? Because he knows government spending goes towards GDP. And if GDP is good, you get to advertise. Look at me, the leader of the country in GDP, just like today. We had a 4.9% GDP and they're out heralding it. Well, I got Newsfeer when you can spend $6.6 trillion of government money in one year
Starting point is 00:30:22 and in the year 2000 it was only $1.8 trillion, well, I can get your GDP up too. The fact is you can give me all the government statistics you want. The savings rates have plunged and the credit card usage is. skyrocketed and late being late on credit cards and other loans are starting to go up markedly also so they can give me every freaking governance myth statistic out there the economy is near the ledge and it ain't going to take much in spite of their statistics anyway Not to mention if the market keeps going down, people feel less wealthy. And due to the fact, everybody owns those big seven to ten in their mutual funds or themselves, that is not going to be so good.
Starting point is 00:31:31 And again, it was a rough day today for them. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Anyway, what else today I'm seeing? I don't know what else to tell you. There's some more earnings coming out. There's been some good reactions. There have been some not so good reactions. Just overall, most everything has been in a downtrend.
Starting point is 00:31:56 The big ones have worsened, and we'll see if it worsens from here. Again, let me repeat the one thing that stands out for me today, which may or may not be good news. Nice little plunge in interest rates today. Nice little plunge. What weirded me out today, and I know it's one. name but Microsoft gaps up yesterday this is Microsoft an institutional darling finishes up 10 drops 12 today really on good numbers yesterday we'll see what that means we'll let you know again tomorrow's another day we're ready for anything but 10 year yield 4.845 today
Starting point is 00:32:51 Looks like that 5% right now is really putting a nice little ceiling there, which means if it ever breaks through it, oh, then we'll be talking. And of course, there's other news out there. Somebody in Maine just, I don't know, took out one of those rifles, 18 dead, bunch injured, and he's on the loose. they're saying he was in mental facility in the weeks ago I don't know what to tell you people in a bowling alley people in a little restaurant bar
Starting point is 00:33:35 and now their life has been snuffed out it's just what can I tell you maybe we can come out with some good news as we move forward well the Arizona Diamondbacks we'll give him that certainly not the Knicks who couldn't hit a free throw at the end of the game last night against the Celtics and they lost when they should have won. You can tell how I am towards my sports teams, right?
Starting point is 00:34:18 Tomorrow I'll be on with Neil Cavuto in the noon hour of Fox Business Network or whatever question he wants, I shall answer. But just overall again, the indices for a change were not as bad as the average stock today. But the indices, which are laden with the big caps, the big caps are coming in and coming in good. We warned you about them up front and we'll see how it goes. Now, Amazon's up a few bucks in the aftermarket. That's one of the big ones. But all I can tell you, that being up to 123, that just takes it up to big resistance. Not so sure that's going to change the playing field too much. but just so you know every single day we have our eyes on the lookout for changes or better
Starting point is 00:35:16 we do not like we want to be 100% invested if we're 100% invested it's because the market's in great shape things are buffing out of range new yearly lows what's that new yearly highs there's a lot up next i'll spend 30% seconds on the new yearly high list. And whatever else comes to mind. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now.

Starting point is 00:38:22 One, two, ready, go. Action! In the Gester's Edge. With Gary Culpa. And under the column of everybody is now coming around to what we've been telling you for years. The CEO of HSBC Bank is now warning that the world is at a tipping point on debt. threatens to spark a global reckoning after years of government borrowing binges. Hey, gee, thanks.
Starting point is 00:38:57 We had no idea. You mean 10 trillion in debt here was not enough? 15? 20? 25? 30? Oh, it took you to 33. By the way, that's just the U.S. The rest of the world? Same crap. Same thing.
Starting point is 00:39:18 The amount of debt worldwide? Look out. What else have we told you? And who else is coming around to what we told you would happen? Well, let me tell you who. Honda and General Motors. What have we told you about electric vehicles? Ain't going to happen.
Starting point is 00:39:39 There'll be a segment of society that will drive electric vehicles. But this whole forcing of electric vehicles on us, sorry sorry well in case you didn't know I believe it was France that had a mandate 100% electric vehicles
Starting point is 00:40:02 oh that mandate's gone UK that mandate's gone and now Honda and GM announced they are ending a $5 billion plan to develop lower cost electric vehicles
Starting point is 00:40:17 a year after announcement announcing it. Do you know why? Because nobody wants it and it's too costly. Why do you want to lose money on every car? And so what they're going to do now is they're going to focus on just meeting demand than coming up with some pie in the sky specific volume. And what else do we tell you on vehicles? Well, we told you there is no way in hell. The driverless car is going to proliferate. Now, there's some driverless cars going on. I know that. I think I read it. I may be in the Phoenix area.
Starting point is 00:41:00 There's some. Am I correct in saying that? I think Portland's got a few. You know what's happening, right? They're getting into accidents. So guess what I'm reading now? They're starting to pull back on them. I don't know about you.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Maybe it's just me. I'm never getting in a driverless car. I look at my Uber drivers up and down to make sure they look like they're decent drivers.
