Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum.
Straight talk about you and your money.
Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Coltbaum.
And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host day.
Thanks for being with us today.
Glad you're here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening.
It's Thursday.
It's October 15th, 2026.
And let me state at the outset,
which we don't do very often.
Today, every chance, a very important day in the markets,
not just stocks, but as you know, we've been harping on the bond market on a daily basis.
We hope you are listening.
We have lots to talk about.
And in case you don't know, this is serious talk on everything that affects you.
We'll do the markets.
We'll do the economy.
Your job, your industry, the Morlocks in D.C., but I must tell you, I may take a vacation
even talking about the Morlocks in D.C.
By the way, if you don't know what a Morlock is, go look it up.
It's from a movie.
And we'll do scams and shams and corruption.
And the elections coming up, by the way, our thought process has not changed.
We believe the Democrats are going to beat the crap out of the Republicans in this election.
The meek are saying the Democrats will win 20 seats, 15 to 20 seats from the Republicans.
We think it's probably 30 to 40.
And on the Senate side, every chance it's going to be 50-50.
And that means the Republicans keep the Senate because they get the tie-breaking vote.
by the vice president.
It's that nip and tuck.
But if the Republicans do lose, the Senate,
look no further than the dude in the White House
who had Paxton running in Texas,
where, by the way, Texas is going to have a Democrat senator.
And there's some other states that I just don't understand.
anyway
next
if you don't get this
radio show
in your city
we'll post it at garykate com
we'll also post it
on our x feed
if you don't follow us on x
you should
we're very
every now and then
we're putting up market stuff
but we're very
sarcastic
with everything we do there
because sarcasm is a way
to get around all this
and we'll post it
at the biz TV
YouTube channel.
And if you want to email us,
just be nice and respectful.
We'll say that a hundred times.
That should be easy, right?
Disagree with me a thousand percent,
but be nice and respectful.
It's okay.
I think we all want the same thing, right?
Good health, good family.
Right?
Okay.
So what have we been harping on for
a good long time. The bond market yields been going up and up and up and up and up and up and up.
It's been pretty much nonstop. The 10-year yield, which quite is important, bottom in February at 3.956 and just
hit in the last six days, 5.364 to the point where your mortgages were seven to a half,
percent. That's not good news. And why is that important? Well, it's the cost of capital. It's the cost of loans,
mortgages, to put out bonds for you to lend to somebody. It's huge. And when you have the one-two
punch where oil prices are still up there, it's a one-two punch. And what areas of the market
have we told you that have been affected the most?
consumer stocks, retail, airlines, cruise lines, hotels, restaurants, economically sensitive type stuff, financials.
Simple as that.
That's all we've been telling you, pretty much on a daily basis, and all we've been saying to you is avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid, avoid.
And oh, I'm sorry, and housing and housing related, which has been absolutely crushed.
And to be clear, many of these names and areas are still way down off their highs.
But yesterday, we noted something on this show for you.
A terrible inflation number came out yesterday.
I take that back.
A bad inflation number came out yesterday and yields open.
higher. They opened hot. And we never like that. We never like that. Yields opened up yesterday on
the 10-year, 5.329, but closed at 5.177, a major league reversal on a bad inflation number. And they
keep telling us, bad inflation numbers will have yields going higher. And you know what? They're right.
but somehow they reversed yesterday.
Well, today, and even worse, inflation number.
In fact, the inflation number absolutely sucked.
And when I mean sucked, I mean absolutely sucked.
Way out of bounds.
Ridiculously out of bounds.
and without looking, one would think,
holy crap, are we in big trouble
because yields are going to spike again
because of inflation?
And that's going to mean the Fed's going to have to really raise rates.
And you know what the 10-year yield did?
The yield, it gapped to the downside.
What?
In fact, it closed yesterday at 5.177.
It hit a low today of 5.037 before bouncing a little 5.089, but still down a whole stick.
And I'm like, wow.
And the Dow opens up about 200 points, 250.
But I'm saying to myself, Jesus, these areas are so underowned, underinvested, why aren't we up 5?000?
today. And to be clear about the inflation number, the producer price index came in at 1.3%.
Expectations was a half percent. The prior was revised up. The core producer price index was
up 0.7%. Expectations 0.3. These are terrible inflation numbers. The bond market rallied,
yields dropped.
And as we always say to you,
we don't rationalize why.
We deal in facts of movement.
And the fact that yields would drop
on two bad inflation numbers
is of note.
And what did we say when we told you,
boy, we thought this Dow would be up 500.
As I speak, at 340, it's up 590.
And guess what's rallying the most today?
You got it.
Those consumer areas, retail stocks, restaurants, housing related, transports for a change,
the financials, which was so weak, bouncing pretty well, we'll see how it goes.
All I can tell you, a baffo day.
for the broad market that has been so terrible.
What does it mean?
Is it just one day?
I'm in the camp that it's more than just one day.
Of course, we'll watch that bond market,
but something happened today and yesterday.
Bonds rallied strong, yields came down.
Broad market picked up.
I can't wait to scan this bad boy after the close today.
And oil prices were actually up today.
Go figure.
So, very simply, probably a good changing of the guard.
I thank you for being here.
Up next, we'll continue with this.
I'm Gary.
This is the one only investor's edge.

It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working.
You're listening to.
Hey, this promises to be fun.
Investors Edge.
The last bastion of quality programming.
With Gary Coltbaum.
It doesn't get better than this.
So, oh, by the way, also, and they were moving yesterday, drug stocks had a very good day.
They, Eli Lilly, another 50 bucks.
We mentioned Eli Lilly yesterday started to get going.
up another 50 today.
So that's going on also.
And I want to repeat something.
We don't rationalize why.
I really didn't watch the pundits today,
but I gather they were scratching their forehead,
stating to themselves, wait a minute.
How to hell are yields down on those inflation numbers?
By the way, let me be clear about something.
Those were horrible inflation numbers.
They were disgusting.
Now, I was also asked, was there intervention?
Did our Treasury Secretary, whoever else, buy the crap out of bonds today?
Well, they're going to have to report that if they did.
I'm not in that camp, but I have no knowledge of it.
I just don't know.
What about the other side?
As you know, they have been murdering.
For lack of a better word, that's not a good word, murdering, right?
They've been hitting hard.
They've been busted up.
The semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data, memory, storage, and all that crap.
And may I state for the record, in the morning today, the NASDAQ, which is already plummeting,
I'm going to give you out the early numbers, and I'm going to give you out the late numbers.
and the early numbers all happened in the first half hour.
The NASDAQ was 26308 earlier.
It's up right now, 37 points as I speak.
It's up, 37 points.
But it was down 370 earlier.
A big reversal in the NASDAQ today off of the better broad market
but only up 36 we'll take it.
The NASDAQ 100 is only up three.
But it's up three.
The NASDAQ 100 early today was 29408.
It's 29-965 right now.
You got that?
560 points reversal.
And just remember, it was already plummeting.
So today the NASDAQ and NASDAQ 100 put their foot down to what has happened in the last six or seven days.
Now we've been telling you here, we have been hiding out with the big indices.
And I came into today, I was a seller of the big indices.
We didn't sell.
And I'm thrilled because the big indices stood tall.
The S&P today at one time,
today because it is so tech laden hit a load today of 7669.
It's 7750 right now.
Last I looked that's 80.
So it was down almost 60.
It's up 30 now.
A huge reversal.
What else?
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index hit 11,171.
As I speak, it's 11,000.
thousand six oh six last i looked that's about four hundred and forty points reversal still down
77 so it was up down over 500 we consider today a stick out day a standout day a day where
very potentially the market put its foot down on all the damage that's been done recently
but I have some caveats.
I have some disclaimers.
Please listen.
Number one, on these bombed out stocks,
by the way, delved down another 44 bucks today.
On these bombed out stocks,
they are in downtrends now.
They are not in uptrens.
They are not in bullish phases.
they are on bouncing, bearish phases.
I'd be careful about that.
What we like to look for are things breaking out and ascending,
where pullbacks are viable versus bounces are sellable after drops.
Of course, there's another caveat, earning season.
Oh, just a few thousand companies are reporting earnings in the next few weeks.
Things will change.
You'll have some bad stocks turn good, some good stocks turn bad.
Simple as that.
And if you want to know what we mean by reversals,
Micron.
How about that one?
You know, the stock just dropped from 1,100 down to, by the way, in short order, down to 858.
which was this morning.
It's reversed $70 off the low today.
It's $70 off the lows.
And it's only up 15, so it was down another 55 today.
How about a sand disk today?
This stock has just went from 1909
to a low today of 1276 in three weeks.
It's 1384 as I speak.
$109 reversal, and it's still down $18.
Today.
That's what we mean by today.
Tomorrow beats the hell out of me.
We're just letting you know today off of a scratch your forehead move in bonds
that were killing these areas,
a big move down, the big move up in bonds,
a big move down in yields,
Got the alarm clock waking them up.
To what extent we don't know.
How far we don't know, how long we don't know,
does it croak tomorrow?
We don't know.
But today, good day.
And for us, sticks out day as we head into earnings.
Other things that, you know, very poor reaction to banks.
And Bank of New York was going to have another bad reaction today because of the market was down early.
Up $4.75 as I speak. That's good to see.
Black Rock was up strong yesterday on earnings.
Black Rock.
But it reversed because the market stunk.
Back up 47 bucks today.
What does that tell you?
Up next.
We shall continue with this.
I miss the investor's edge.
America is talking

He's got to be pleased with that

And welcome once again to Investors Edge
Hey some news
By the way, forget the news for a second
You know how we've been saying
Boy, retail sucks
But there's like a few names that are strong
I can tell you, don't know what they're doing there, but SIG, a sin-yet jewelers, breaks out, big time today.
S-I-G.
We're not telling you to buy sell shorter cover, but when they reported earnings a few weeks ago, gaped up, and it follows through today in retail.
How about William Sonoma?
William Sonoma has not broken out yet, but may be poor.
to. Close. How about Best Buy? I'm taking a look as I speak. Close. Getting there.
Alta Salon. We call that retail. That is not near new highs, but it broke above some range a few
days ago and still going. And as I look at my retail screen, everything green. Even Lulu Lemon is
up. You know it's a good day in retail if Lulu Lemon is up. I have much bad to say about today.
In fact, I don't have much bad at all. Reversals all over the place. Still plenty of AI and semiconductor
stocks down, but way off the lows. I'll be gauging that after the close today. After the radio.
Simple as that. Advanced declines. Finally,
33 to 12 on the New York,
29 to 15 on the NASDAQ, not that great.
New yearly low still over 700,
but I can promise you that's because they were weak early.
New yearly highs, boy, am I going to be looking at that tonight.
Financials, MasterCard and Visa,
we've been talking to you about New Yearly highs again today.
They are the two strongest financial stocks.
Whether or not it continues or not, I don't know.
but they are very strong versus so many financials that have been terrible, but bouncing today.
We'll give it that.
They're bouncing today.
And I must tell you, this is one of those days.
I can't wait to scan.
Little news.
Well, maybe they listened to this show.
You know that execution they were going to do and live.
stream it, they're not going to.
The president
first said he approved it,
now they're not going to.
You know,
they all work for us
so we can comment. This
Hegset guy, who I've only
met once. And I only
met him once in Jerusalem.
In old Jerusalem,
he was taping a show.
And
we shook him.
can't. That's it. I don't know from Adam. To think this guy's thought process was to have a live
execution. I don't care how bad the guy is in the United States of America. Luni. So we're glad to
see the president who first said he approved it no longer going to happen. Must have been listening
to this show. As you know, I am Mr. Logic. And hey, you social security recipients,
For 2027, there is going to be a 3.6% increase in your Social Security payments.
And they're saying that comes out to $900 per year.
Just want to let you know.
And as you know, I think the worst thing our government has ever done is Social Security.
That was them telling you, you suck.
we don't trust you with your own money at retirement.
So we're going to come up with this plan that we're going to run.
We're going to decide.
We're going to raise your taxes every five years, infinitum,
and then we're going to pay you what we decide to pay you,
even though it's your money that was taken out of your paycheck.
But they have marketed it so well as the end-all be-all.
But just remember,
If way back when they didn't do Social Security, but did come up and say, you know, we care about you.
And what we like to do is take part of your paycheck and force you into putting it into an account that's in your name at a brokerage.
And we're also going to force you into buying 10-year government bonds and rolling them over every 10 years or maybe five-year bonds.
whichever. Number one, it's still be your money and it's in your account to do what you want to do with.
Number two, we wouldn't be spending trillions of dollars on a Social Security Administration.
And number three, you'd have a crap load more money than you're getting now on a monthly basis because the government says so.
and imagine if they had the grapefruits
to just let you put 5%
into a S&P 500
mutual fund
5%, 5%, 5%, 5%, 5%.
You'd have so much freaking money
you wouldn't know what to do with it.
And my goodness gracious,
if the number was 10,
my goodness gracious,
if the number was 15.
But no, that was your government not trusting each and every one of you that are now retired to take care of yourselves.
Thus, you're dependent on them depositing a check to you on what they decide the number should be.
You know what I say to them?
Up yours.
Oh, and by the way, they have not prepared for the fact.
that the demographics going forward have people living a lot longer and getting checks for much longer.
So in the next few years, somebody in Washington, D.C. is going to have to be courageous.
Because back in 2005, I believe it was. No, hold on. Let me get it right.
George Bush
F3-1 re-election
invited me to the White House
and other radio shows
F-3-1 re-election to talk about
just talk about Social Security
and to look at it
and what did the Democrats do?
They started running ads about
throwing Grandma off a cliff
and crack like that
so my contact
at the White House calls me a week later
and says we're dropping it
So they've done nothing about it, but we're reading stories now about how in the next few years they're running out of the box or something to that effect.
So in case they keep telling you how wonderful social security is, it sucks compared to what it should have been, ladies and gentlemen.
Market just closed. Dow at 556, S&P up 25, NASDAQ, NASDAQ up $5.000.
NASDAQ up 20.
NASDAQ 100 finished down 15.
The semiconductor index finished down 103, but was down over 500.
And the broad market had a very nice day off of a plunge in interest rates, even though
inflation skyrocketed today to the point where you ready for this?
And yesterday, even the administration could not.
come up with an excuse. Now I have yet to go through the innards of how that number came out.
I will do that later tonight. But damn, that was an ugly number. And I'm also interested in
finding out was there intervention in the bond market or was that real buying? We are in hopes.
It was real buying. We're in big hopes, real buying.
We don't like government intervention. Do you know why? They suck. And by the way, I don't care what anybody says. I'm not impressed with this Treasury Secretary. I wish I was. But I will say this. The last one, who was that Janet Yellen, who said tax cuts were the problem. Yeah, sure. Up next, this, that, and the other thing. This is the one only investors edge.
listening to
what are we waiting for
well what he waiting for
one
two
ready
go
action
up once again
with Gary
Colpa
done
once again
to Investors Edge
so we've been
talking about
this core weave a lot
finished
up
$4
today
hit a low of
59
51 closed at
69 69. So it was down six bucks early, another six bucks and finished up four. And we had a wise
ass. Oh, what do you say now about Corwee, Gary? And I said, well, it just dropped from 93 to 60.
And he shut up. People are so weird sometimes. You know, we just tell you what we think,
what we're seeing. And we're.
may sometimes people don't even do any homework. The stock dropped 33 bucks in six days. And it
bounced today. It's terrific. I hope it goes higher. We don't want to see disasters. By the way,
the CEO of Nvidia who's tied big time to Corweave with circular this and that comes out today in
defense of Corweave. I wonder why. And by the way, I am not a fan of him doing that.
Just remember what circular financing is. We're going to give you a crap load of money,
but you buy our product, and we're going to book it. Just letting you know. Anyway, Corweave
bounced pretty good today. If you bought the open, you made like 19%. We didn't buy it.
We don't buy bare markets, by the way.
And we certainly don't buy a company whose bonds now are yielding 15% plus.
Junk.
I have not looked at what their bonds did today.
Anything else sticking out today?
Again, the semis were down.
The broad market was up.
A lot of other tech was down.
The broad market was up.
But there was some good tech up.
We had a couple of, well, let's see.
Veeve up 15, that's a software, team up 11, that's a software.
Salesforce.com and the Dow up 10, software, Microsoft up 5, software.
So you had some software, I mentioned to you the retail.
While I got you, crypto was up a little bit, but not much, but reversed off of lows earlier today.
There was a lot of reversing today, ladies and gentlemen.
Gold bounced, but man, gold has not been happy.
And I have to tell you, that's surprised to live in hell out of me.
Big time.
Let's do some repetition.
The financial is very important.
Goldman was down 20 early, finished up 12.
Bank of New York looked like another gap to the downside, opened down early on the earnings,
finished up four and a half.
Black Rock opened strong yesterday, but finished poorly.
up 47 today.
So maybe that's something to sink our teeth.
And even though very poor reactions on Bank America,
Citigroup, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo.
Oh, and by the way, Goldman Sachs,
even though it was up 12 today, let's see where that finished.
891, the high was 1154 about 10 weeks ago.
I think it's got some work to know.
But I have to repeat a very strong broad market day in a market where we've been coming on this show often saying how bad the broad market has been.
Now, recently we've been saying, you know, maybe yields have topped, but we were not sure.
We were predicting nothing, but they've topped.
Let me let me let me let me let me let me let me let me.
Fix that up.
They really look like they have topped.
But sticking right in the craw, those inflation numbers,
what the heck was with that?
We'll take it.
Again, our favorite line is we don't rationalize.
We watch for tops, bottoms, uptrends, downtrends, bearish phases,
bullish phases, ascending, descending.
And every now and then, scratch in the forehead.
But it comes back to that line we've used so often.
It's not the news.
It's how things react to the news that matters most.
And whatever component is going on there with that inflation report and bonds,
bonds were bought up with a further today on a gap after bonds were bought up with a further yesterday on a reversal.
And we're talking yields, not the bond.
Remember, yields move inversely to the bond.
Bond up, yields down.
Bond down yields up.
You know why, right?
If you don't know why, it is imperative and incumbent on you to go online and put in search
when bonds go up,
why the yields go down and vice versa
and it explain it very easily.
We'd rather you go
do the homework on that.
So tomorrow's Friday,
more earnings.
I don't think there's a lot of earnings tomorrow.
Next week will really soup up.
Now we get J.B. Hunt and
interactive brokers tomorrow.
Oh,
excuse me,
M&T Bank and Travel
tomorrow, which is in the doubt, and Truest, the old SunTrust.
Another company we ask, why did you change the name?
SunTrust to Truist?
The Sun's coming out.
People go into the bank.
No, we're going to go to Truest.
I don't get it.
It's just like they changed Outback Statehouse to Blumen brands and Facebook to Meta.
Do you go on Meta?
to meet your friends?
No, you go on Facebook.
Some CEOs are weird, ladies and gentlemen.
Anything else sticking out today?
I think I cover it all.
You have a good evening.
Drive carefully.
When you get home, do like I do,
make sure you hug your family,
hug your children, hug your pet.
And we'll see you tomorrow.
Peace out all.
Have a good night.
