Starting point is 00:00:48 tuesday september 24th two thousand and twenty four hope you're having a good day i want to thank adam uh sarhan for doing the show yesterday uh as you know we have A lot of family stuff going on these days. As you know, I am dealing with a 92, soon-to-be, 93-year-old father, a 91-year-old mom. And my mom was the strength up until about 90 days ago, had a stroke, came out of it pretty good downhill ever since. And my father, the best way I can explain it to him about him, ailing. ailing. So we got a full-time living. My brother's there a lot. I'm back and forth. It's tough. And we thank everybody for your well wishes and also your experiences that me describing everything,
Starting point is 00:01:51 I'm getting emails. Yeah, that's exactly what happened with us too. We thank you for that because, as you know, it's not easy. And to see your parents that you've had a whole life with vital being in this way, just anyway, thanks. Thank you, Adam, for being here yesterday. In case you don't know, this is serious talk about everything that affects you. We ain't screwing around. We are doing the election and what comes out of the election and who these people are. We are voting for. We'll do that. We'll do that. We'll do the markets, the economy, your job, your industry, taxes, debt, deficits, scams, shams, corruptions, no bigger scam and no bigger sham than the people in DC. I have to tell you, in the three o'clock hour, I was watching Martha McCallum today on Fox News. They had two people
Starting point is 00:02:49 on, it was a debate on taxes and spending. And they had an ex-com. Congressman or senator has named Tim, I forgot his name. And the debate was on how much spending there's been and all that. And this is what the gentleman said. It's very complicated. The young man that was with him debating him, unfortunately, didn't say anything. My exact words would have been, with all due respect to you, sir, there is nothing complicated about a federal government that the year before COVID spent
Starting point is 00:03:38 $4.4 trillion and this year is going to be over seven with most of it debt and all being done on purpose and knowing what the numbers are and not giving a crap. That would have been my simple answer. There's no complication in what they are doing. They are solidifying their power base with all kinds unimaginable amounts of money. I just wanted to mention that off the get-go. Today on the show, I'm going to mention two people. I would rather be president going forward. I'm going to mention our government going after more companies.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I'm going to mention an op-ed by the worst treasury secretary of all time, Janet Yellen. I am going to talk about gold, the markets, and the media and Israel, the latest it's amazing to watch ladies and gentlemen but first if you do not get this radio show in your city we'll post it at gary k.com we'll also post it on our twitter feed which is now x and if you don't follow us on x you should email us just be nice it's quite simple
Starting point is 00:04:54 so as you know we don't script this show I don't even write anything down but every now and I will just take out one of those sticky pads and just write a few things down that I want to mention. And in no particular order, do I want to mention number one, China. As you know, we have been telling you to avoid China and most China stocks for a very long time. The issue has been one fold. They've been the bare market. That's all.
Starting point is 00:05:32 They've been in a bare market. In fact, the FXI, which is the ETF for China, topped out at $54 in March of 21, it's 30. And that's after a big move up today. Not to mention, if you go to the monthly, the FXI was $75 in 2007. It's 30. And again, that's just an exchange traded fund for a bunch of Chinese stocks. The issue in China is very simple, and this is just my belief. By the way, I've been to China once.
Starting point is 00:06:14 It's an amazing place. First off, I still believe the Great Wall of China was built by aliens. There's no way man could have built that. Saw the terracotta warriors, went to Shanghai. I mean, the city's the building's magnificent. The people were so nice. Everything. Beautiful hotels.
Starting point is 00:06:39 I stayed in the place, Poudang. I think it was a Mandarin Oriental. It was fantastic. And by the way, it was cheap. When we were there, we had a very good guide. And we would travel the highways. And we would see, by the way, this is about seven years ago. We would travel and we would see cities.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Cities, not a building or two, but cities, and they were empty. And when I mean cities, there were shopping centers, buildings, apartments, homes, nobody in there. So we already knew that there was trouble, but you can always gloss over that with government largesse. well the bills came due and in China we've got massive losses property losses and it's really hurt the other thing that's hurting this is just one man's opinion the man run in the joint has become more of a statist government run everything he destroyed his education stocks a few years back before pulling away. The market's been terrible.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Well, overnight, they announced, I don't know, hundreds of billions of dollars, and if you want to buy stocks, we'll lend you money. That's the government. And overnight, you had a big move. The FXI was up 9.7% today. opened up about six and finished at a yearly high. That's the FXI.
Starting point is 00:08:40 And there are some other ETFs, not as strong, but KWEB, which is the internet. And I believe there's something to CWEB, which is another internet. Alibaba, I guess they called the Amazon of China, was up 8% almost triple volume. broke out to a new yearly high. Keep in mind, Alibaba closed at 97. The high in 2020 was 320. So we're just letting you know on a technical basis, because I must tell you on a fundamental basis beats the heck out of me. Because when you're dealing with, and I'll use the word communism, I mean communism in the vein of communism and really control freakism from the government. You don't know, but we're just letting you know on a technical basis. Big gap breakouts to the upside on a technical basis, though very stretched and extended on a near-term basis,
Starting point is 00:09:46 which typically will lead to some pulling back. But when you're dealing with foreign entities, you can just gap up again tonight for tomorrow. So we just wanted to let you know from the get-go China in play. And we have not said that in forever. We mentioned a couple of names that were strong versus everything else weak in the last year, but they pretty much failed also. Do you remember PDD failed? So we start with China. I want to bring up visa because, you know, one of the issues with this government is it almost.
Starting point is 00:10:34 feels like and I think it's not a reach that they're just looking for get somebody and if you're too big we're coming to get you so it looks like they're going to file suit against visa for being a monopoly the stock was down $15.70 today 5.5% on volume it's just another name it seems you get too big, the machete comes out. We'll have a little more on that. Today's markets, lots to talk about. I'm Gary. This is the one, only Investors Edge.

Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists
Starting point is 00:12:40 to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not expect. as normal. A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like I get a stomachache every time that I eat and it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh yeah, you know, I just have a stomachache every day or I'm constantly feeling like gassy. And all of those things are not something that generally if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with. So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that
Starting point is 00:13:24 point we can probably identify something that we can change. Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeartRadio. Starting point is 00:14:09 Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The world isn't getting any calmer. Economic instability, global conflicts, and record national debt have created an environment where financial uncertainty is a part of everyday life. And while While none of us can control those forces, we can control how prepared we are for them. Market swings are hitting retirement accounts and savings harder than ever, leaving many Americans wondering how to protect what they've built. That's why people are exploring physical gold and silver as a part of a broader strategy. These are tangible assets with a long history of being used when confidence in traditional markets
Starting point is 00:14:44 waivers. They're not a promise of returns and they're not a replacement for existing investments. They're simply another tool to help diversify our portfolio. Starting point is 00:15:21 You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be. Firm. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary called Bomb. It doesn't get better than this. And welcome once again to Investor's Edge. So, Visa, they got MasterCard also in relation.
Starting point is 00:15:48 And you know that I sarcastically say Visa and MasterCard are the greatest bookies on earth. I also mention that about Draft Kings and the rest of them. You know how Draft King says, oh, we pay out so and so. No, they don't. The losers pay out the money. Anyway, I digress. I don't know where this ends up, but just a little bit too much of this. The filing of lawsuits and going after this, that, and the other thing, I don't know what to tell you. I think you got some weird people in this administration, and I've talked about that a lot.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Next, I wrote down the word recession. The reason I wrote down the word recession is because you know we're an election year now. So one side saying the economy is a horror show. The other side is saying the economy's in great shape. You got that? Well, you know our unbiased thought. This administration is doing everything. They ran a $380 billion deficit last month on purpose.
Starting point is 00:17:01 We sent them $308 billion last month. They spent $688 billion. It should be a crime. We worry that that's a problem. Huge problem. We think a bunch of the economy is them going into more and more debt and makes it look good. But this talk of recession and the economy is in terrible. shape. I want you to listen carefully with no bias. There are pockets of trouble. We've highlighted them.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Most definitely pockets of trouble. You've heard it from Amazon and Walmart that do 1.3 trillion a year in sales talking about low to middle income people strapped. You're hearing it from other areas. You're seeing McDonald's go $5 meals. Others go $4 meals. They don't do that because they're generous. They do that because they need to. The job market has been softening. Leave no doubt.
Starting point is 00:18:27 But I am letting you know again, not the first time. There is no deep, dastardly recession at hand. and the reason we know this, there is no way. No way we'd see Caterpillar at a yearly high. No way would we see the financials just off the highs. No way would we see the S&P at the highs. The reason we know this is because if you go back to every time we've had a recession of consequence, I'm not talking about two quarters that were down.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Oh, the GDP was down a half percent. I'm talking about something of real consequence. The market will take a crap beforehand. It's happened every time. So we just want to let you know that and we'll stay on top of it. And yes, we think there is hell eventually coming because of the Morlocks in D.C., doing what they are doing. but we don't know when that is, the market will dictate that policy to us. We're pretty darn sure of it.
Starting point is 00:19:56 So I wrote down the word recession. And then I wrote down, this is the title of an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. The Biden-Harris economic success, the administration has helped America through hard times. by Janet Yellen, the worst Treasury Secretary of all time. Gary, why would you say that? Well, she has oversawed massive debt, massive deficits, gargantuan inflation that she, the genius, said was not there. And when it hits it said it was transitory.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Anyway, she's gone on to say how wonderful this administration is and they got back from COVID and because, no, we got to. out of COVID because of COVID went away. We opened up. It had nothing to do with these dofuses. And she goes on to say nothing, none of this happened by chance. When they took office, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, just unmitigated bull crap artistry coming from these people. She's out on video, saying the problem is tax cuts imagine she telling you imagine if you sat down at a table with you and she said your tax cut is the problem you keeping more of your money is the problem i can't
Starting point is 00:21:33 stand these people she says we need investments that bring down costs and double down on our strategy bring down costs investments huh you know what investment is it's a government dollar the spending, another piece of debt. So put me in the no-fan category of this woman, and I would say it to her face. Next, gold. So as you know, we have a position in gold. And I will tell you, I mishandled it during this move. It started, the breakout was in March. And we've made money on it, but I mishandled it. I sold, had a buy back, lost a little bit on the next. And, buyback. This latest one, I'm in good stead. Little lesson to be learned by Gary because that breakout in March last year was a gargantuan all-time high, multi-year breakout and I screwed up.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Anyway, we're just letting you know it's been trend up. Upward trend. You know how we define bare and bull markets, up trend, downtrend, downtrend. We had stated that we thought that there's a chance here that the nice calm trend may start to go a little bit, not necessarily vertical straight up, Eiffel Towerish, but start to really get, and why that happens is because total recognition of it and people pile on. We're just letting you know we're seeing a little bit that now. We're seeing a little bit of that now. But leave no doubt bull market in gold.
Starting point is 00:23:27 gold miners not as strong but coming on and for the life of me don't know the gold miners totally underperforming through the years of the metal and we have to mention silver for a change looks like it's about to break out of a six month range in here silver too but gold is definitely much stronger so i wanted to mention gold up next we'll do today's markets i'll complain about something else. I thank you for being here. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. If you've been following the news, you know the world is dealing with a level of uncertainty
Starting point is 00:26:03 that isn't going away anytime soon. Inflation pressures, global tensions, and the highest U.S. debt levels on record, continue to influence markets day after day. The result is familiar to anyone checking their retirement balances or savings accounts. Volatility has become the norm. In times like these, people often look for ways to strengthen their financial foundation. Physical gold and silver have served that purpose throughout history. They're real assets that exist outside the digital and financial systems that tend to fluctuate
Starting point is 00:26:31 during economic stress. They're not a guarantee and they're not a shortcut to wealth, but they can offer diversification when things feel unpredictable. Preserve gold is committed to helping Americans understand their options. With simple educational information, including how precious metals can be held in an IRA. Starting point is 00:26:57 Text I heart to 50505. We're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's the Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb.
Starting point is 00:27:17 It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. Okay, Dow was up 83, and I have to tell you, I think the Dow being up 83 today was pretty much the last four minutes. I'm pretty sure the Dow was flat. In fact, I am correct in saying at 355, the Dow was pretty much flat, and they jammed it into the close, strengthen the Dow Home Depot. Interesting. Home Depot is at a new yearly high. They're out saying that the lower rates are going to help Home Depot. Well, let me just give you some numbers on Home Depot. Sales year over year, minus three, minus three, minus two and plus one. They better improve.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Earnings down 10, down 15, down five down and zero. They better improve. But Home Depot, up eight and change. Caterpillar is, as we mentioned also. That into new high ground. They were month away. That was up almost 15. Salesforce.com got the upgrade today. Not much to say there. But on the downside, Visa was down.
Starting point is 00:28:39 16 today. Offsetting Caterpillar, so up 80. NASDAQ up 100. NASDAQ 100 up 92. Semiconductors had a pretty decent day. Nvidia may be trying to start another move in here, not 100% sure. Noticed Uber breaking above a little range.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Netflix breaks out to new highs. I didn't buy it today. I should have. Volume was just blah. We'll see what tomorrow brings on Netflix. I love big names breaking out of range. The transports up 265 because of China. You get a strong move also in commodities in case you don't know.
Starting point is 00:29:20 China is very much commodity based. So you had a real good move. today in copper, steel, aluminum, and transports that move that stuff. So you had a better day on the transports also. Everything else pretty much mixed on the day. But I really don't have much to complain about in the market. It's pretty decent shape. As I go through and scan, I'm seeing some breakdowns, but nothing of note. nothing that have me saying oh look out if that changes will let you know the NASDAQ which has been laboring that looks like it may want to get back to the old highs not sure yet NASDAQ 100 a little less so and the
Starting point is 00:30:15 semiconductors less so but though had a pretty good day today yields are just sitting around 3.7 in change Bitcoins in the seven month of a trading range, nothing going on there. And as far as these commodities, we've been telling you to avoid the commodities also. Today, they came up the right side on a gap because of China. And I'm already getting questions. Do I think China last? Answer is a definitive, I don't know. when you're dealing with a country and a government, you just don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:00 And what I do know about China is they have some troubles economically right now. We've never trusted the numbers that came out of there. Debt's been picking up. But certainly the market loved it today because easy money, baby, they are just, they're pulling a power. they're pulling a Bernanke. Thus the move. And I have absolutely no idea what Tamara brings. When they opened it up hot today, they took it down a little.
Starting point is 00:31:36 I'm thinking, maybe you'll hit a wall. They finish pretty good. So as we stated, put China on your screen now. And we're saying that for the first time in a very long time. The election. As you know, we have no use for either. I mentioned earlier two people, just so you know. Georgia Maloney, woman.
Starting point is 00:32:11 She is the Prime Minister of Italy. I would hire her in a second to run this country. And if you want to know why, go check it out. Go check her out. And our speeches. I would hire Javier Millay, the president of Argentina in a second to run this country. Argentina has been his basket case.
Starting point is 00:32:42 He came in, did what Reagan did, unleashing Argentina economy. Of course, the media calls him an extreme right winger because for some reason the media hates democracy, hates freedom. It's amazing to watch. Go read up about these two. I wish we'd have one of them here.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Quite interesting. As far as the election go, I'm still pissed off. How you have a woman that was not elected in a primary writing for president, and the media does not care that she doesn't do big sit-down interviews with people that will actually ask tough questions. not Oprah who by the way you could tell was about the vomit with some of the answers no press conference no nothing
Starting point is 00:33:45 and the media as usual in the tank not pissed off at all not mad yeah we're good I heard one of the media yeah yeah the another hack in NBC she used to be a business
Starting point is 00:34:01 but now we don't need it because look what we have on the other side oh so we don't need to know what her policies are going to be, are they? Oh, sure, okay. And as far as Trump, I stand by my words, the greatest biggest gargantuan missed opportunity in history on a debate front, a chance 90 minutes to prosecute three and a half years of miserable failure on immigration, on debt and deficits, on inflation, on Afghanistan. And he fumbled, stumbled, stumbled, bumbled his way through. I have no use for either. But you know what they say? Lesser of two evils?
Starting point is 00:34:54 And you know what I mean by that? I don't want to hear the January 6 people are hostages. I don't want to hear John McCain wasn't a hero. I don't want to hear that BS. If he wins, I want him to come in and be the president. No, really, the president. like I would be. If he wins, we'll keep fingers crossed. The polls are all over the map. I don't even trust any of them, and you shouldn't either. For every poll that has him up 10 points,
Starting point is 00:35:43 they have her up 10 points on another poll. I think it's almost laughable. There's one thing that sticks out on the polls for me. And for those that love Trump, you should be very happy about it. go look back right before the election on where he stood on the polls with Hillary Clinton and Biden. Whatever the number was, Trump was much better on the election. And that tells me a lot of the polling is flawed based on people, not answering the way they want to.
Starting point is 00:36:19 And you know what I mean by that. Trump decided no debate. Kamala Harris wants another. Of course, she wants it in front of her friends. she turned down Fox News. How dare they have people down the middle asked the tough questions. And as we said to you, neither would last five minutes with me asking the questions.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Both of them are pandering. We'll give you this, we'll give you that, we'll cut this, we'll cut that, we'll do this, we'll do that. You know what we would be saying? You know what we'd be saying, right? Low taxes, less regulations, we're getting the hell out of your way. Go be great.
Starting point is 00:37:02 those that need help will be there for you. If you're able to work, we're going to make sure you go to work. If you don't want to work, that'll be another issue. Life is pretty simple. Well, we've got 40 some odd days to go. Yay. Happy days. Up next.
Starting point is 00:37:33 What else? I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jay Goodman, host of Beyond the Sports. the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. Starting point is 00:40:30 With Gary Culpa. A little bit of the news. Brett Farv announces he's got Parkinson disease. have any of you ever been on the field for a college or a pro football game? For that matter, high school. I don't know how all of them have Parkinson's. I don't know how all of them don't have brain damage. Have you ever been right up close and heard the thuds of brains racking against brains?
Starting point is 00:41:37 Amazing. Let's hope he wins the battle. I don't think he ever win the battle, but sometimes you can have it for a very long time. Michael J. Michael J. doesn't, he's had it for a very long time, right? Michael J. Fox. In the news, back on the election, if the polls are right,
Starting point is 00:42:04 Trump is really starting to lose the young vote versus where it was a month ago. Well, the same poll had it a month or two ago, one. And it got worse. If I were Trump, I would address the young people of this country and explain what her proposals would do to them as they get into the job market and become great at something and become wealthy and start doing great things and explain that she has a machete out and it's not going to affect the already wealthy. It's going to prevent you from becoming wealthy easier.
Starting point is 00:42:41 it's pretty simple no really it's pretty simple in the news I read this one Kamala Harris makes undercover push to win over corporate America she's been meeting with a bunch of real rich people that they demonize
Starting point is 00:43:06 every day and win them over so I wonder what she's saying to them versus what she's saying to us all I know is when I used to go to the dog track and the horse track, I was a big dog track. I used to go to Biscayne Flagler and Hollywood Dog Track during my years down to North Miami Beach. You bet on past performance.
Starting point is 00:43:36 What the dog did past races. Muddy track or not? Short race or not? Outside or inside post. I've got three and a half years of her being vice president. and we cannot continue with that trajectory. Now that was Biden at the helm. Hopefully she'll be more towards the middle.
Starting point is 00:44:09 I don't have much hope. Lastly, in the news, the media, I was watching today where they said, Hezbollah, you know, the terrorists, were retaliating against Israel. That was the Today Show, NBC. And I saw it on a few others. Hezbollah, the terrorists are retaliating against Israel.
Starting point is 00:44:36 Israel, the attackers, the terrorists, retaliating, defending. He's sick, twisted. I wish I was on satellite. I'd like to tell you the words I would like to say. They've been lobbying rockets into Israel for years, and Israel never would even say a word. They'd just knock them out of the sky. 8,000 rockets since last, since last,
Starting point is 00:45:06 October 7th. Oh, by the way, we were a year almost, that the hostages are still there. And estimates of 50 are still alive, including infants. Yeah, let's negotiate. The good news is Israel's got their number. They took out a ton. They took out a ton of the communications. They knocked at the tunnels of Gaza, a ton of them are gone. Ain't going to be no more terrorists getting into Israel anytime soon. And for those boring people that continue to protest, keep being boring. Get you nowhere. And that's a little bit of the news. Our focus right now, well, we first want to see if China can really get out of here. Remember, it's way, way down. Our worry, it's government intervention. It's not real world. Remember,
Starting point is 00:46:19 Greatness comes from business and people, not from government. And all this money is more and more debt. But leave no doubt, as a technician, that was Bafo today. Gold continues trend and looks like it's getting stronger now. The semiconductors may be waking up. Invidi in the 14th week of range, but did a little poppin today. I get asked about Tesla all the time, better. But they keep talking robotaxies and you know where I think that goes.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Commodities waking up. China. We'll see if that continues. Interest rates, still cooperating. Fed took it down a half. Whippy do? It can affect your job of mine. They'll probably do a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:47:22 We'll see how that goes. prices for things you are buying ain't coming down get used to it where they are coming down real estate as i have told you i followed a lot of cities fantasy prices coming down yet people are still putting up houses on the market at fantasy prices and they ain't moving what does that mean not sure except it's becoming more and more and more of a buyer's market Stay tuned.
