Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum. Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk
Studios, here is Gary Coltbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Coltbaum,
your host. A thanks for being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen,
happy that you are listening. It is June 2nd, 2025. Hope you are having a very good.
day. Hope you had a very good weekend. I was still depressed about my New York Knicks, not going
into the finals, but there's always next year, but I think I've said that for the last, how many,
40 or 50 years? Oh, well, ladies and gentlemen, lots to cover, lots to talk about. In case you
don't know, I said this is investor's edge. Serious talk on everything that affects you. We'll do
the markets, the economy, your job, your industry, debt and deficits,
and spending bills and fireworks.
It's not July 4th, but I'm actually gonna talk fireworks,
maybe.
And if you do not get this radio show in your city,
we'll post it at GaryK.com.
We'll also post it on our Twitter feed.
And you don't follow us on Twitter, which is now X, you should.
And if you'd like to email me,
all you gotta do is be nice.
So let's get started.
Without any further ado,
I'd like to cover the markets intently and intensely,
if you don't mind, by walking you through area after area after area of import.
For starters, sticking out like a big, gigantic sore thumb today,
don't ask me why, but you can.
because I know why.
Gold.
But not necessarily gold, but gold miners.
The gold miners boom today, the GDX on 66% higher volume today.
Buss above the highs of April.
Only a one, two, three, four, five, six.
This is only the seventh week of range.
But that was quite the powerful looking move on the gold.
miners today. And you can walk through pretty much a lot of the gold mining names and they'll
look just like the GDX. Go look at AEM. Go look at A-E-M. Go look at A-U. Go look at
FNV. Go look at, how about RGLD, not as strong?
How about go looking at WPM, I believe?
Oh, yeah, WPM.
All of them, heavy volume breakouts to hide, highs.
So we're talking gold miners here.
And that means gold made a move today.
Gold is not at the highs.
It is in the seventh week of a range bound action, but a very strong day today.
Just letting you know what you do with it, you get to decide what happened today.
Another very weak dollar day, our dollar against other currencies.
Another week day.
For instance, I may be, as you know, we go to Wimbledon most every year, but I've missed it.
in the last couple of years, and I really want to go this year, the pound I'm going to pay a
bunch more for because of the dollar sinking. If I decide to take a side trip to, let's say,
Paris through the chunnel, I then have to look at the euro. Oh, and the euro's been going up,
and the dollar's been going down. The dollar's been going down against everything, which makes gold go up.
But I also want to add today, silver has not broken out yet.
Looks like it wants to.
I got asked by quite a few people today, would you buy silver and I just say gold stronger?
But go look at S-L-V.
That's a darn good high-volume move on the silver also.
So just letting you know gold silver, strong.
I don't usually talk steel stocks, but I am today.
The president of the United States put a 50% tariff on foreign steel coming in here, making our steel companies more valuable.
You see, you know how we talk about tariffs suck?
Well, they still suck, but in the case of steel, if foreign steel is too high, they're going to tend to come
towards our steel.
If they got to pay a
tariff of 50% on anything coming in,
they're going to buy from our peeps.
The problem is if you constrict
from other countries,
it could force prices of steel up no matter what.
We'll see how it plays out.
But I can tell you,
steel dynamics today,
up 12. I think it was up a lot more. Let me make sure that, whoa. Yes, it was up to, it was up 20. I don't even have to look. I'll know New Corps was up 11 and it was up about 16. Reliance Steel RS was up 9 and that was up about 18. So the steel stocks, I'll let you decide on that. But more importantly,
The M in market is mui importante.
Very important.
Very important.
When O'Neill talks Bill O'Neill, may he rest in peace, can slim.
That's the acronym.
The M is the market.
You need the market always helping out.
If the market's in a bare market, you're not going to make,
you're not going to make money
if the market
is in a bull market
for certain areas
you go with those certain areas
if the broad market
is working
darn you got the broad market
in the case of this market
oh I can still pick out a bunch of stuff
that ain't working
but I can also look at the big indices
as we have told you
do not small in midcaps
you don't know
need. It's the big indices that have been doing the job much stronger, though Europe's stronger
than us. When you have a chance tonight, what I'd like you to do is go look at the SPY, which is the
S&P 500. And I want you to notice it's been trading three weeks, hit a low last Friday,
reverse pretty quickly last Tuesday, but really setting up for higher prices.
And I'm letting you know if 595.54 gets taken out on the S&P, we're headed to the highs of the year.
And if you want the number on the S&P 500, not just the SPY, that would be 5968.61.
And then there's the NASDAQ.
The NASDAQ is already kind of sort of.
On Thursday, the NASDAQ moved above range,
tucked its head in like a frightened turtle because Nvidia,
had a rough day Friday but reversed,
was weak this morning but got strong by the end of the day.
I don't have a great number for you,
but another good day of the NASDAQ,
and will be headed towards the highs.
If you look at the QQQ, the NASDAQ 100,
you will see what we're seeing.
We're just letting you know
there's a pretty darn good setup
to go topside in the big indices.
Notice I have not mentioned the Dow.
The Dow is much weaker because of United Health,
which has been absolutely destroyed,
and being the highest price was
because the Dow is price sensitive
every point in the Dow is six and a half Dow points
that's what's holding that back
so we're watching the S&P and the NASDAQ
we couldn't care less right now about the Russell
it's just much weaker
the midcaps much weaker
but letting you know the S&P in the
NASDAQ, a setup is there. What you're going to need is what we call simple confirmation.
What's the confirmation? A break above the range and then sticking. Remember, everybody talks
breakouts. Move above range. That can happen. And then you can tuck your head in like a
frightened turtle. Doesn't mean it has to work. But we're ready.
If it gets taken out, fireworks.
We'll see.
And we say this.
Good action with up next.
Something J.P. Morgan had to say.
That's up next.
And much, much more.
I'm Gary.

Hi, I'm Dr. Jay Goodman, host of Beyond the Script.
The podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions
you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter.
In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola,
who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal.
A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches.
Like I get a stomach ache every time that I eat.
And it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just have a stomachache every day.
or I'm constantly feeling like gassy.
And all of those things are not something that generally,
if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with.
So that's when we deep dive.
We deep dive into your medication.
We deep dive into your OTC medication.
And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change.
Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects
so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script,
a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeart Radio.

Reese's peanut butter cups.
They go perfectly with music.
Podcasts.
And welcome back to the show.
Even nature sounds.
Oh, and the thing where someone crinkles tissue and whispers at you.
Hello.
Look, I'm not here to judge what you listen to.
I'm here to judge you for not eating Reese's while you listen to it.
Reese's.
Ashley, go back to the nature sounds.
Nice. Yeah, it was really nice.
I earned my degree online at Arizona State University.
I chose to get my degree at ASU because I knew that I'd get a quality education.

You're listening to.
Hey, this promises to be fun.
Investors Edge.
The last bastion of quality programming.
With Gary Coltbaum.
It doesn't get better than this.
So, welcome once again to Investors Edge.
So I'm sitting here telling you, boy, good day today.
And the Dow was only up 35.
The NASDAQ was up 128.
We're about 7 tenths of a percent.
NASDAQ 100, 150.
The transports were down 70.
They were worse.
So not that great.
But we're letting you know a good setup for another leg up is there.
But we will need confirmation of it.
And confirmation comes with price moving above range.
And imagine that happens.
I'm just letting you know.
it happens with J.P. Morgan and Jamie Diamond, the CEO, the greatest, what I consider to be
one of the greatest bankers of all time, is out there saying that the stock market rally
could soon come to an end because the economy is likely to enter a period of stagflation,
if not worse. And in case you don't know what stagflation,
is, that's the economy not growing, but inflation picking up.
But he also says, or worse, a real recession, economic growth contracting.
Well, there's only one problem with those predictions, so we'll have to repeat what we have
told you time and time and time again about dire predictions of smash,
and crashes and recessions and depressions and the end of the world type scenarios.
I believe Harry Dent is out calling for the end of the world again, as he always does,
and telling you he's been right all the time.
The rich dad, poor dad said, we're going to crash also, and they may be right.
I'm just letting you know there is zero chance of a contraction of proportion.
or stagflation of proportion if the markets are going higher.
There has been no greater telegraph of the economy than the market.
You can go back to any time throughout history,
the market always started crumbling way in advance of the economy heading south.
in a way of import.
So just letting you know, they should pay attention to us
because you don't need to predict.
You just have to watch the market.
And right now, there's some plenty of areas in not great shape,
but an overall basis, if the market goes topside
and especially if it breaks into the highs, zero chance.
Imposibly.
Just letting you know.
So be careful about the dire talk.
Yeah, but Gary, what about the crash that we had?
It was a news event.
It was a President of the United States putting on massive, gargantuan taxes onto you and I and your business.
they crashed the market
but they learned very quickly
we don't want to crash the market
so they got rid of them
and they're still threatening
but every time the market's gotten in trouble
what did they do
you know there's an acronym
now for the president called taco
which means every time the market gets in trouble
he takes a powder
you can go look up the taco
and I'm not saying to rib him
we're stating facts
So just letting you know
Good day today
Even with the Dow up 35, that's it
But by the way, the Dow was down 400
Early in the day
The NASDAQ was always holding up better
Was only down 100
Finished up 128
So we'll see what the next few days bring
But I noticed today
Things like Meta break above
Range, you know how we've been telling you about these little handles
Well meta broke above
than a few others are setting up.
So let me tell you about a few other things that are of note.
Remember, Nvidia just reported earnings and reversed a bunch of the good gap to the upside
and then followed to the downside on Friday.
That was up two and a half today.
And Broadcom AVGO, another important AI semiconductor, was up six and change today.
And they report this week.
They better come up with good numbers.
That's all I can tell you.
which takes me to the all-important semiconductor.
So here's numbers for that.
A move above, a move above 4996
on the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index.
That would coincide with the other things.
A move above 249-44 on the SMH.
And there's another leg up coming in the semis.
There's the semis.
What else?
How about the XLK?
A move above 23577 on the XLK,
which happens to be the S&P Information Technology Sector ETF.
Another leg up.
So leave no doubt.
Markets got a decent setup here.
Oh, by the way, the software ETF of 105.61.
A move above that level.
Another leg up.
Now notice we did not say it's going to happen.
We're just letting you know there is a setup for it to happen.
And if those numbers get taken out to the upside,
another leg up to the upside.
And as always, if that occurs,
we just keep reevaluating as it moves forward.
So we just want to start at you with that.
there was some icky areas today our favorite united rentals was down 18 today
caterpillar was down three or four was down seven economically sensitive stocks were
weak housing stocks remain weak retail yuck except a few names and we'll mention that in the second
oils bounce whoopi do they're in a bare market china blah we're just isolating the strength
and we'll see what comes of it
and that's how we roll
and just let you know as we go into tomorrow
as we go into tomorrow
there's a good setup there
but has to confirm
price has to move above levels
and stick
there's no rule of thumb that's going to happen
at no rule of thumb if it does
it doesn't just turn back down
But all we can tell you, we've had this move up, made a right turn, sitting tight, and like today's action.
Up next, a few other things we can talk about in the markets.
This is the one only investors.

The case of the missing Reese's.
It was me at the store with my mouth.
Motive?
Um, they're Reese's.
What was that going to do?
Stop myself.
Tune in next time to see if I do it again.
Spoiler, I will.
That had everything.
Reeses, suspense, reases.
Cash flow crunch.

listening to America is talking investors edge he's got to be pleased with that the crowd is just
on his feet here with Gary cult bomb comes highly recommended you're gonna feel better if you talk to
what else so when we scan he can just get a feel for things and one of the things was like a
Costco that had a good reaction to earnings on Friday even though
it's trading at 60 something times earnings which is outrageous
Costco should get a premium valuation for a great retailer
but 60 times earnings with 10% growth rate
up another 16 today
which is only about 1.6% but another 1.6%.
It just tells you there's an appetite
out there. That's all.
and you just had some good action in what we call some of the glamour names today and pretty much all day.
Always want to see that.
And I must tell you, it wasn't great early in the day, but we liked how they finished.
And again, we'll see what happens tomorrow.
But today, with the Dow only up 35, was a pretty darn good day, if you ask me.
and let's hope, let's hope it continues.
Let's hope these big indices go topside,
because we're full of them.
And let's hope these leading growth names do the same.
But again, confirmation.
We gave you out the areas that we think are Muayimportante,
Setup is there. Don't know what's next. We will tell you this. Got to do the big Trump disclaimer.
If by chance tomorrow, he pulls another bad rabbit out of the hat and says, oh, the pause is gone and we're doing all those tariffs, we'll gap down 2,000 points tomorrow.
And there goes any setup. That's the big wild card. But we have to believe.
have to believe they know if they crash the markets and they stay down, they're screwed,
big time screwed. And that's why they change their stance immediately, immediately. Remember,
the market crashed on a Thursday and Friday and on that weekend, they were screaming at
each other down at Moralago and in the Oval Office. And on Monday, they were pausing. They didn't do
the pause because it got leaked and they said
no or not and then Wednesday boom they
came out with it and since
then nothing but exemptions
and relief relief
and exemptions so I gotta
believe
taco
and you can go
look that up the taco
new high list picked up
today the advanced declines
not that great but was really bad
early
oil prices had a strong day
oils were actually up today but there's not much there for me to even think about there just those
areas mentioned as well as our narrow list of good looking stuff and if the market gets better
more stuff gets good looking that's how it rolls and hopefully we see it in different areas
and by the way we don't mind narrow too much narrow isn't the worst thing in the world
Narrow sometimes pays off better than not narrow because a lot of money goes into a few different things.
Moving forward in the news.
Scary thought.
Senator Elizabeth Warren and Donald Trump want to eliminate the debt limit.
It's bad enough what they are doing on debt and spending.
Both want to eliminate anytime anybody's agreeing with Elizabeth Warren, run for the hills.
Ladies and gentlemen, speaking of the spending bill, there has not been one single rescission bill sent to the hill.
You know what a rescission is actually cutting.
Not telling you they're cutting, actual cutting.
I watched the Speaker of the House on TV this weekend, BSing the country by saying they're cutting deficits by 1.6 trillion.
Well, if you add $5 trillion to the deficit, but cut 1.6, that means you're adding 3.4.
So just more con artistry this time from the Republican Party, unfortunately.
Oh, well, what can I tell you?
As far as those steel tariffs, here's the weird thing about them.
60% of imports come from Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.
what are they our enemies you catch my drift you catch my drift in the news well we warned you
about this and since the Supreme Court cleared the way for legalized sports betting in 2018
gambling addiction is skyrocket and now we believe in personal responsibility so it's on
each person to do things like gambling in moderation.
But we are finding out that now millions, millions,
millions have been on searching for help,
for gambling addiction.
Searchers jump 23% nationwide with some states seeing 60%.
And what you are seeing it is being thrown
and everybody's face 24-7, turn on a basketball game.
They're telling you to bet on the quarters, on the players.
Seriously, on the Super Bowl, they were telling you about betting on how long the national anthem.
So, unfortunately, and as I always said, most gamblers lose, especially in casinos, by the way,
which I've never understood people playing a lot in casinos, because every game they have an edge on you.
same for the lottery.
So I wanted to bring that up.
Everything in moderation.
In the news, here we go, another one.
Headline, most distressing sign yet that America is thundering towards a recession.
A quarter of American adults are using buy-now, pay-later services for grocery shopping.
Whoa.
The figure is up sharply from the 14% of adults ages 18 to 79.
now it's up to 21%.
Wow, for groceries.
So maybe we are going to have a recession.
It ain't right now.
The market would know it.
And you know us.
We do worry about the debt long term, both government and personally.
But just letting you know, as I continue to read Dower headlines,
like Warren Buffett saying,
great deals are very unlikely to happen tomorrow and not likely in five years.
That would keep most people away from the markets.
But the market's acting pretty darn well.
Ray Dalio, one of the greatest hedge fund managers of all time, says you should be afraid of the bond market.
Well, he may be right.
But you know when we'll be afraid of the bond market?
if the 10-year yield goes through 4.9, then look out.
Ooh, then look out.
4.9 would not be a good thing, ladies and gentlemen.
That would be a big outch.
So notice we're interspersing, is that a word?
All this negative with telling you, man, the market looks like it's setting up to go higher.
but again gotta get the confirmation and that would be price moving above range and sticking
oh and by the way Tesla registrations in France down 67% in May year over year
Tesla I can go on I see these things and send them to myself so I can look them over and
tell you about it just to depress you.
The European Union of Tesla
down 49%
year over year in April.
That's the whole European Union.
But don't worry they'll have the
robotaxies and the robots.
Well, they better
because Tesla's
ain't selling like they used to, ladies and gentlemen.
So that's a little bit of
the market and what they're
saying. Up next.
whatever else we got fee.
I'm Gary. This is the one only investors' edge.

Investors Edge.
With Gary Culpe.
Buh.
And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
this week
Crouch strike reports tomorrow after the close
I think that's of import
and on Thursday
after the closed Broadcom
that's of import
there are a few others but not many this week
just let you know
another attack on
Jews
we have said forever here on this show
any racism of any kind
against anyone
should be kicked in the teeth.
Those should be shunned against anyone.
But it just happens to be against Jews now.
And the media is complicit.
They are anti-Israel.
They are anti-Jew.
They have proven it time and time again.
They are actually kind of sort of...
Remember, we believe in personal response.
But they are fanning the flames with their outrageous reporting that has to be pulled back, but they pull back slowly.
It's the way they report.
So you had something in Boulder, Colorado, and a bunch of the reports was a man.
Not a man from Egypt that was here illegally, but a man.
Anyway, this man through Molotov cocktails at a bunch of 50 to 80.
year olds, one of them being a Holocaust survivor in her 80s that is now in the intensive
care unit of a hospital with burns on a bunch of her, a lot of her body. If you noticed anything
about these terrorists, terrorists, I can't use the word that starts with a P, but it also has
something to do with a small cat. So let's just call them a bunch of cowardly,
terrorist wimps. You had Luigi shoot a man in the back and murder him. And anybody who sent
Luigi money is a scumbag themselves. You had another terrorist shoot two young people in their
young age that were about to get engaged in Washington, D.C., shot them dead.
while they were not looking.
And now you got Mr. Prickface, not even wearing a shirt,
throw Molotov cocktails at the elderly because they are Jewish.
Notice the common denominator.
They're a bunch of cowardly wimps.
No, they will not walk up to somebody and take them on or fight them.
They do it behind their backs because let me tell you,
Any of the women of the IDF would kick their terrorist asses to Kingdom Calm.
Not even me.
You know what I would do to them.
The women of the IDF would kick their, you know what's.
If those terrorists on October 7 did not have weapons,
the women at that festival would have beat the living crap out of them.
I saw Chuck Schumer all of the son, oh, my goodness gracious,
the same man is Jewish and said nothing while students were.
were being attacked for months and months and months at colleges.
I don't know what to answer to all this, the lies about Israel and genocide and apartheid.
It's amazing to see in real time in 2025 where so many things are easily exposed that the accusations are just complete bull crap, made up.
yet people just want to be a part of something
so they join on in on calling for this, that,
and the other thing and tearing down posters of kidnap babies.
Ask them where Gaza is on the map
and they wouldn't even know where
and they probably spell Gaza GASA.
Ask them where Israel is on the map.
They probably show you next to Vietnam.
They wouldn't know a thing.
What can we tell you?
We're going to still fight the good fight, and I don't know how this ends up,
but I think we're going to see some copycats.
And it's quite unfortunate.
For anybody out there in any race, creed, color, gender, denomination, short, tall, skinny, fat, whatever,
if you've ever been a victim of racism or bullying, we feel for you.
I've told you my little story when I was young.
I was not allowed in a restaurant with my friend who was black, a tennis partner of mine,
down on Sanesta Beach, and we laughed at the woman and took out the money and shoved it in her face.
You're not getting any of this?
That was 1974.
I guess it's still going on, huh?
again we'll keep fighting the good fight and the good news is 99.9% are not racist.
The problem is the 10th of percent can cause a lot of damage ladies and gentlemen.
And unfortunately the media sucks so bad and I'd say it to all their faces.
Unfortunately, you know, I didn't want to bring, I don't want to bring these things up,
but they're a fact of life these days.
Kanye West, a total.
Jew-hating Nazi still has millions of followers. It's very weird out there, kids. Very, very weird.
Anyway, back on point with all this noise and a lot of predictions and negativity.
The setup is there, kids. And let's hope it gets taken out.
I'm seeing in a lot of names and a lot of places in the growth arena.
And tomorrow's another day.
That all said, you'll have a great evening, drive carefully when you get home, do like we do.
Quite simple.
Make sure you hug your family.
Make sure you hug your children.
They will feel better.
You will feel better.
I promise.
Stay well, be well.
Serenity now to you and your family.
Good night all.
Bye, bye.
