Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colpom. I'm your host. A thanks of being with us today. Glad you're here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is the 25th of June, for 24. Two days to the Great Debate. Ladies and gentlemen, on Thursday, Joe Biden, Donald Trump, with many people asking,
Starting point is 00:01:13 how to hell did we get here? But we have to deal with what is dealt. And that'll be Thursday. two people running for president will cover that. But first, if you don't get this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com. We'll also post it on our Twitter feed, which is now X. And if you don't follow us on X, you should. And if you like to email me, all you've got to do is be nice. Nice.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Shouldn't be hard. Unless you are a terrorist-loving, Hamas-loving racist of any kind, We'll engage. Be glad to engage. You can agree with us, disagree with us. We can agree with you, disagree with you. Respect. Unless you're a terror-loving, Hamas-loving racist. Or a criminal of sorts. And of course, as you know, we cover the markets, the economy, jobs, unemployment, taxes, deficit spending, scams, shams, corruption, you name it, we cover it. Without any bias, any agenda, ulterior motive, we are not in the tank. for anybody except for you. And we really mean that. And we don't care if it's an R, we don't care if it's a D, we don't care if it's the Whig Party. If they're doing your right, we're telling you, if they're doing you wrong, we're telling you twice.
Starting point is 00:02:40 And that's that. Okay. The Dow is down 300 today. Advanced declines, 15 up 25 down on the New York. On the NASDAQ, 15 up 25 down. That's not good. The Dow was down 300. The NASDAQ up 220 and the NASDAQ 100 up 226, a complete flip-flop of what we've seen for the last, you know, few days.
Starting point is 00:03:14 The semiconductors pulled right back into a moving average and bounced and stayed bounced most of the day. A lot of stocks that were just trashed for three days bounced. We'll see if it lasts more than one day. but leave no doubt a very nice day for the AI semiconductor tech land today while the rest of the market which had bounced suffered. And as we had said to you, hey, just letting you know you had a couple of good days of the broad market, but we're going to need to see more. And there really is no leadership. You got some insurance stocks here and there. well I can tell you this our same theme that you should be worried about
Starting point is 00:04:06 economic stocks act terribly and as you know we have had the same thought on the economy and that is we better not lose the job market now we already got a 1.3% GDP number which is not good and when I see the rails and the truckers and the dears and the caterpillars and the United Rentals and the Parker Hannafins and the housing stocks and housing related stocks gives us some pause. The good news is the markets never really missed the recession.
Starting point is 00:05:01 before, especially a bad one. And I can all but guarantee you if we were going into one, I'd say that Dow would be 2,000 points lower than we are right now. That said, we don't like what's leading down right now. And as I've done a bunch of my scans already today, just terrible patterns. In again, Housing, housing-related, construction, steel, copper, aluminum. Remember, they were strong. Coal, oils, auto dealers, airlines, industrials, machinery, tools, and the like. We'll see. at the very least we just
Starting point is 00:05:59 continue to avoid those areas these are areas we've been telling you avoid while we've been telling you where is the leadership in you know where and it had three let's call it two and a half kind of sort of vicious
Starting point is 00:06:15 days from extended conditions pullback today you relieve some of those pullbacks and had a nice bounce the best way I can explain to you and video was up eight. That's the one everybody asks about. The socks today was up 96. About 1.8%. But again, advanced declines on the NASDAQ, 1566 up 25, 13 down with the NASDAQ up 220, NASDAQ 100 up 226, and New Yearly highs, 70, New Yearly lows 177. It tells you that underneath the surface, the big stuff's still working.
Starting point is 00:06:59 And as you know, that's where we've been parking our carcass. On Thursday, we took some off the table. They bounced them a little bit today. Still, the semis are much lower than where we sold. Today gets us thinking about possibly getting back in, we'll see. Gary, what about thinking long term? kids we take it day by day so that's the story of today a flip-flop remember we had a 300 day with the NASDAQ down 250 something like that opposite so the strength rose today as we always say the i have no
Starting point is 00:07:45 idea about tomorrow we'll see what happens but you did have some symmetry today and some of the semiconductor names pulling right back down to support areas and bounce pretty decently. Wish I'd see more volume. Can't have it all. But my screen, my one screen of that stuff all red. I also have a stuff screen, excuse me, all green. My stuff screen beat red, except for one column, which is all the semiconductors. So stay tuned. Now, as we have done in the past, we have put it out to you, the peeps. We want to know what's happening in your industry, in your city. If you go out, how are the restaurants?
Starting point is 00:08:35 If you're in the trucking business, what be going on? And I must tell you, we're getting a decent amount of slowdown. It's slower. It's less. Not as much. both for the workers and the consumers. So we'll be watching. And as we've stated,
Starting point is 00:09:02 it's going to be all about the jobs at this point in time with how much debt is in the system. From the consumer all the way to our psychotic government, massive amounts of debt. And I don't know how that gets wrong. out if we go into a troublesome job market. Now I also know, I hear the things that you hear. I heard some Federal Reserve people say, you know, the economy sounds. Well, they also said inflation of transitory. I want you to know these people have 100 analysts going out,
Starting point is 00:09:55 finding out information and they're all clueless. And I take no joy in saying this. They couldn't tell you what day is tomorrow. How is it we can? We don't have a bias. They do. Who hires them? Oh, the people in power.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Do you really think they're going to come out and tell the truth if things are falling off? allege, hell no. That's why when inflation was heating up and we were telling you it's heating up, they got in front of a camera and told you there
Starting point is 00:10:43 wasn't any. And then when it hit, it was transitory. And then when it got to 9% it's the Putin price hike. Just remember all that. Markets pretty smart.
Starting point is 00:11:04 We'll have our ear to the ground. There's some things going on. Not enough, though. And that's good. Up next, we'll continue on the markets. Much more. I'm Gary. This is the one only Investor's Edge.

Starting point is 00:14:03 Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. Thanks for being with us today I'm looking at FedEx's numbers as they came out They beat by seven cents
Starting point is 00:14:38 Whopi do Revenues were flat year over year But better than the last few quarters In other words the last few quarters Are minus 10 minus 7 minus 3 minus 2 Revenues just came in flat Fine And earnings were up a little bit
Starting point is 00:14:55 Year over year by a percent or so I gather because sales are better, they'll probably gap it up some tomorrow. We'll see. FedEx stock hasn't done anything since 2018, the beginning. Six and a half years of no gains. Maybe tomorrow starts something better. On flat numbers. And if it gets better tomorrow, we'll see how that could help the transports.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Leave no doubt. FedEx going forward, see. 20 to $22, expectation was 21. Whippee do. Revenues up low to mid-single digits. That's actually good news. That's actually good news. That'll be for tomorrow and not a lot of earnings this week. Next week is July 4th week. The market closes at 1 o'clock Wednesday and we are off Thursday. I'll be on Baby Watch. We're in that moment in time. As you know, I'm going to be a Gramps and we're in that avenue at this juncture waiting for the call. I think the due dates the six or the seventh, but yeah, I guess you have like two or three weeks. I've been reading
Starting point is 00:16:24 up on it because I had no clue about it. So the market remains very narrow. We're hoping for it to broaden out. Don't know if it will or not. I'm so. Oh, by the way, FedEx is up 30, 40 bucks in the aftermarket to yearly high on flat numbers. Go figure. FedEx up $40 to $296. That's pretty juicy. What is that? 13, 14% for FedEx, which means UPS will be up tomorrow, just a little bit.
Starting point is 00:17:12 And the transports will have a good morning more than likely. and that can change overnight. Yields, here's the good news. They're stable. If I was in the ear of the Fed, just shut up and do nothing. And the fact that they've done nothing is actually good news. We had so much time of crazy action in the bond market, which is vital. they're finally, they're out of the way.
Starting point is 00:17:51 They are not meaningful even though everybody talks about them. 4.23 hit a high of 5. We'll see how it goes. Now, specifically, we're just reporting the news. Home Depot, down 13 today. Lows, down $11 today. Pool. Anybody hear of? pool? Guess what they do? Down 27 today to 310. Tractor supply. Down 13 today breaking down near term.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Floor and decor breaking down. William Sonoma trashed today. See where we're going? The housing stocks. another rough day today. See where we're going? Deer, down nine. Northfolk Southern. It was only down five. It was down 14. So that came back, but that's gone from not 263
Starting point is 00:19:08 down to 213. You heard of these companies? How about Whirlpool? Stock has gone from 160 to 8. Anybody heard of Sherwin Williams, 348 to 294. Has anybody ever heard of Snap-on 298 to 263? By the way, this is in kind of sort of short order. We're just making the point.
Starting point is 00:19:42 There's something going on. Maybe Federal Express helps, but again, I got news for you. Flat earnings and flat sales, it's up 40 bucks for whatever reason. Terrific. Builders first source, building products, 215 to 136. Recently, W.W. Granger, 304, down to 910, just recently. and we can list one after the other after the other of what we call the most economically sensitive names and therein lies a little bit of the worry.
Starting point is 00:20:32 We'll stick to strength. We'll stick to leadership. I must tell you coming into today, I was thinking, hmm, as we told you we sold down half of our inventions. video last Thursday and watched it drop a bunch after. Good day today. Feeling a little bit better, as well as other semis. We have no problem with the narrow market because we'll stick to the good stuff versus some of you that have the diversified hundred stock portfolio to where you ask, Why do I own this stock that's down 50%? Oh, but don't worry, you're diversified.
Starting point is 00:21:20 What if they're able to change that and not own anything in big downtrends? Don't know what to tell you. As I'm looking, the semi-equipment makers pulled right back into support and had a good, only 2 to 2.5% today, but important 2 to 2.5%. booking holdings new high Google alphabet why did they change the name that's a new yearly high
Starting point is 00:21:55 so you do have some leadership just not a ton and we hope for more names to show up we shall be ready China week again and I must tell you about seven weeks ago
Starting point is 00:22:17 we had said to you we thought China was emerging seven eight weeks and it had a good move for a couple of weeks, and it has just fritted it away. Lack of trust on our part. Up next, what else we got for you? We'll figure it out. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge.

Starting point is 00:23:57 This episode is brought to you by Spreaker. The platform responsible for a rapidly spreading condition known as podcast brain. Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confuse. used relatives, and saying things like, sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere people listen, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin's swears are the next big thing. Even better, Spreaker helps you monetize your show with ads,
Starting point is 00:24:33 meaning your podcast might someday pay for, well, more microphones. Start your show. today at spreeker.com. Spreaker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here.
Starting point is 00:24:59 He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Coltbaum. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. You know, we're very careful with our words here. And sometimes our words are a little more harsh. and others. As we state, for the record, we take no joy in ripping the stuffings out of the people in D.C. We would rather come on to this show and tell you what a wonderful job they are doing.
Starting point is 00:25:40 But they have earned our wrath. They have earned your wrath. I need you to know that all this inflation did not happen by accident. And of course, they've been using the excuse of Putin. They're using the excuse of supply chains. No, it was government policy of printing to $9 trillion. How do we know? We warned you in advance of it. We don't get any cred. Nobody talks about what we said beforehand. We don't care. But you're listening and hopefully you're learning. We have a Treasury Secretary that should be fired so immediately. She used to be the head of the Fed. She was part of the Fed when Bernanke started printing money.
Starting point is 00:26:32 We're very careful with our words. So we always have to say nothing personal. I have never met Janet Yellen. I have never met this person. But business, her job, who worked for us. She works for us. She's sickening. She's a disgrace and she's a liar.
Starting point is 00:27:03 In an interview, she had the grapefruits to say that the problems we have been seeing was caused by the tax cuts. We're not making this up. We're not making this up. The grapefruits to say, you, hey you, from whatever city you're in across this great country, when you got a tax cut, that's what caused the problems. You keeping more of your hardering dollars, not theirs. That caused the problems.
Starting point is 00:27:46 She's the disgrace. Marxism, socialism, control freakism. It is based on power, pure power. And they use rules, regulations, fees, fines, mandates, taxes, giveaways. And when they don't think they have enough, they create massive amounts of debt. And as you know, this Treasury Secretary, this President, This administration are breaking all track records on the deficit and debt. And that's why you had some miseries in the media saying Trump's debts worse than Biden's, which is a pure lie.
Starting point is 00:28:43 And Trump was no good on it either. And we've called them out. Imagine you made 100 grand you and your wife. and Trump does some tax cuts and because of those tax cuts you sent $1,200 I'm coming up with a number less to Washington, D.C.
Starting point is 00:29:14 This disgrace of a Treasury Secretary has the grapefutes to say that caused problems. That's the worry. That's not good. Got to roll that back. Disgrace. The problem with Marxists and socialists and control freaks, they think it's their money.
Starting point is 00:29:44 They keep telling us tax cuts are a cost. It's a cost to the government. No, the government makes no money. We give it to them. without us they have nothing but for you to keep is a cost to them when they don't have a dime
Starting point is 00:30:17 in the first place they have abused you they have used you they have stomped on you and you don't know it but they have crushed the economic growth that could be because of all these debt and deficits
Starting point is 00:30:37 in order to solidify their power with giveaways, grants to friends and donors to make things look better than they are. No production there because it's all debt. And we just want to let you know the big lie. There's a big lie because they're very good at it, by the way. They're better at lying than Trump, which is amazing. they're trying to tell us that they are going to let the Trump tax cuts expire because they have a sunset provision.
Starting point is 00:31:21 They go by-bye at a certain date. But they try to tell you, oh, but if you make under $400,000, because if you make above $400,000, you're scum. But if you make under $400,000, don't worry. You'll still have the tax cuts. It's a lie. You cannot get rid of a whole bill and an insert back. It's all or nothing. So everyone will lose their tax cuts if it expires.
Starting point is 00:32:01 And leave no doubt if he wins another four years, they will expire. The hope is, if... this Marxist socialist control freak wins. Hopefully the Republic cons keep the House or get the House and Senate. And we get some gridlock because the proposals of the great con spend us into oblivion and then come and tax the hell out of us on all that debt and deficits after. And let me be clear. He gave 350 billion of our tax dollars in debt to one man, a democratic hack named John Podesta to hand out on climate.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Have you seen any accounting for any of that? Have you seen a dime of it? Nope. We haven't heard a word of it because the media will not. not cover it. So just letting you know, there's a lot of crap coming down. Economically, your wallet, your industry, look what's happened in California. I got an email from somebody in the restaurant business in California. And they directly said, government, $20, mandate, business, screwed. Restaurants, drop in like.
Starting point is 00:33:52 flies prices hiked though by the way there's a thing going on in fast food right now a race to the bottom on price cuts because they're losing a lot of people because people are getting price conscience but it's getting crazy out there kids and i don't care if you're an r or d we got to get back to we the people and i mean on every front alvin bragg the d of new york city is not going to prosecute any of these people at Columbia University that threaten people's lives, held people hostage, held people in corners, beat the crap out of them, and you know what his excuses? Get this. We can't tell who's who because they're wearing masks.
Starting point is 00:34:53 This is sickening. So all the crooks are going to wear masks in New York City now? That is what is known as selective justice. It's getting out of hand. Up next. Hey, we have a debate Thursday. This is the one only investors, Ed. It's no use putting it off.
Starting point is 00:35:53 The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Tommy John Underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. Starting point is 00:37:45 What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Investors Edge with Gary Culper. And welcome once again to Investor's Edge. Yeah, I'm looking at these numbers on FedEx. We are definitely segueing here. Stocks up $38 on flat numbers.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Go figure. 38 bucks on flat numbers. And let us repeat again. A very good day on a bounce on the semis. When you have a chance, I want you to look at the socks tonight, S-O-X, and you will see it bounced right at the 21-day moving average. And this is a stronger moving average than the 50, because it had a big move. Lamb Research, KLA 10 Corps, applied materials, right at or near the 21 day.
Starting point is 00:38:53 NVIDIA, right at the 21 day. It's a green line on my charts. Bounce like a trooper. Any way you cut it. That was the story of today. And we'll see if it continues tomorrow. Also, do want to let you know, like a Facebook meta looks ready to attack. the old highs. Needs to get through 514. That would be a help. As we said Google, which I don't
Starting point is 00:39:26 own into new high ground at the close today, probably should have bought that today and I didn't. That's a big name. Amazon, I know the Amazon Prime Day is soon. That is not, but looks okay. Apple's been pretty decent. SAP, a very important software name. A move-th through 199 breaks that out to the upside. Tesla, that stock that has been so dead and so bad for a while, a move through about 190 could get it started. That's resistance here. If that occurs, another name.
Starting point is 00:40:14 Microsoft sitting at the highs. In fact, while the NASDAQ just pulled back, it did not. It just sat and was up again today. So very good day today for the area that has been trashed for three days on the pullback and a not so good day for our what we call stuff page that had a couple of good days. And for us, it's all about outcome. And as we'll state it again, and we'll see what happens at FedEx tomorrow. That could change the plan. field for some transports on their crappy numbers. And when we say crappy, flat earnings and sales year over year is kind of crappy for us.
Starting point is 00:41:02 We'll see if that helps, but transports, steel, copper, aluminum, uranium, which have been strong, they're getting kicked in the teeth. Oils, they aren't been working. The housing, housing related, yuck. a bunch of the retail. Though there's some good retail, I can tell you that the discount retail is like five below dollar tree, Dollar General.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Holy bare markets, Batman. They try to turn Best Buy up on their earnings that we were quite suspect on. And they just failed the move in two days. And we had one simple question. Why is this going up with sales the last four quarters, down seven, down eight, down one, down seven? Remember, sales is indicative, huge, on how companies doing. And if sales are going down, they're selling less of what they do.
Starting point is 00:42:05 And that's not necessarily a death knell, but it's always a worry. And we have warned you about a lot of names with sales down in the last year that stocks have gone up. And we've said, well, if they can turn the corner, that's one thing. but I got to tell you, a lot of them have not. For you gold bugs, nothing to tell you right now. Going dormant. For you solar bugs, didn't happen. I got a bunch of emails on solars for about two weeks because they were up for a while.
Starting point is 00:42:47 Nope. China. Right back in the nothing going on. Marijuana. That's the other one. I have to bring up because for a couple of weeks
Starting point is 00:43:02 they got legalized here legalized there and this and that and I'm saying that's not going to change anything. Why you're rallying the stock up? Well since Till Ray's gone from three to a dollar sixty catching the drift
Starting point is 00:43:18 canopy growth 15 down to six we'll tell you what we said ages ago when they ran these stocks like crazy back in 19, the marijuana stocks are going to get crushed. That's what we told you back then. And we outlined the few little sentences on why. And all came to fruition. Every one of them. And you know what that comes to? You just got to think. Sometimes it doesn't even take rocket science to know. Like Peloton, oh, when we come out of COVID, what's going to have?
Starting point is 00:44:02 happened to Peloton. Beyond meat. How many people are going to eat plants? Not so hard to figure out sometimes. Rivian. They won last night, beat the Edmonton Orlers, good on them. Of course, my Rangers did not make it, maybe next year. That said, you all have a great evening now, drive carefully.
Starting point is 00:45:31 And when you get home, do like we do. It's quite simple. Make sure you hug your family. Make sure you hug your children. They will feel better. You will feel better. Tomorrow will be covering the debate, even though it's Thursday. You know what we're going to be due.
