Starting point is 00:00:00 For delicious meals, you could go out to eat or spend hours in the kitchen. Or you could just make a Marie Callender's meal. Yeah, you heard me. Marie Callender's classic chicken parmesan bowl is delicious, with scratch-made marinera sauce, creamy mozzarella cheese, and no preservatives. It's high in protein with 30 grams per serving. Marie Callender's, what having it all tastes like. Investors' Edge with Gary Cult.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Bomb, straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host day. Thanks for being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It's Wednesday, January 24th, 2003. Hope you're having a good day.
Starting point is 00:00:55 As you know, this is serious talk on you and everything that affects you, the economy, jobs, the markets, them. you know the Morlocks in DC and we cover it all scams shams corruptions debt deficits you name it and today a little bit later just so you know I wake up very early in the morning and what I do is I run through the Wall Street Journal I run through the New York Times every article doesn't have to read everyone but I see what you know and then I have some other things that get pushed to me and there are days where I will just send it to me an article that I want you to know about that you need to know about, I got a bunch today. And it's all about the illogic coming from the Morlocks and the Marxists
Starting point is 00:01:51 and the Socialists and the Control Freaks. Unbelievable stupidity. Unbelievable illogical thought process and ideas. That'll be a little bit later. But first, If you do not get this radio show in your city, we'll post it at gary k.com. We'll also post it our Twitter feed, which is now X. And if you don't follow us on X, you really should. You just go there, put our name in or press the button at garyk.com. And also at garyk.com, you can email me. And all you got to do is be nice.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Okay. For starters, we just got to go to the election first. And Trump, as we've said, has been the chalk. but message to all you Trumpians. God bless you all. You need to get to him. Now that it's going to be the general election, the reason why Trump lost the last presidential election
Starting point is 00:02:52 is because, and just so you know, and this is the truth, in the national ballots, the Republicans and independents were voting for Republicans in the down ballot. You know, the senators and the Congress and commissions and all that crap. Yet they didn't vote for Trump. That's what did it.
Starting point is 00:03:15 He pissed too many people off. Now, maybe one of you that run acting schools get a hold of them and say, just act, fake it. When you're in election, you can't piss people off. And when independence can go either way. You just don't want to piss them off.
Starting point is 00:03:39 It's the independence going to drive the bus. But yet last night he's out there, make in front of Nikki Haley's dress. Yeah, that'll get the women vote. And remember, we're not talking primaries here anymore. We're talking the big matzo ball. Think about this. He lost the Joe Biden.
Starting point is 00:04:01 a lifer in D.C. He lost to him. He lost the votes. And then after Georgia, the Senate, House, the last midterms were terrible with his people he put up their nominees. Who was it, Dr. Oz? Was that one of them? Didn't Dr. Oz lose to Fetterman,
Starting point is 00:04:31 who, by the way, is sounding sane these days? So just letting you know for all you peeps out there that love the man, that love the man. You better get to him. You know, when I was in high school and I was up for wittiest, most witty in my high school, what did I do? I gave out candy. You'd be nice to everybody. I still lost Kamen second to Stephen Shrego.
Starting point is 00:05:01 How dare he. But you got to be nice. Fake it. Give names to people. Don't put down people. And speak to the whole country. Not to half. Unlike Joe Biden, who keeps saying, extreme MAGA. I got news for you. I know a ton of people that are pure MAGA. Maga, whatever you call them. Make America great. I got news for you. They're not racist. They're not asses. They were not in D.C. on
Starting point is 00:05:37 January 6th, and they just want to live a good life and do very well for themselves and their families. But Joe Biden is pissing them off. He'll never get them. So just letting you know, my mystologic thoughts as we head into the big time. And by the way, we're not even February. Oh my God, there's going to be a bunch of months. You think they can have debates? Imagine Biden against Trump in debates. Boy, that's got to be a panic. All right, so that's that. Next is Israel. I just want to let you know one of my best friends in life, Jeff Unger, lives in Bocke
Starting point is 00:06:22 Ritone, Florida is in Israel. And he went and he's helping on the farms and stuff to produce food and all kinds of stuff. I would have been there, but I got, I can't, I came back from Europe to be near my parents in the States. I'm not going anywhere right now. Jeff Unger's a mensch for going and hopefully everything goes well. Hamas, these scumb bags, these dirt bags,
Starting point is 00:06:50 will not accept any more ceasefire. And that's fine. Eradicate every single one of them. I've been asked time and time again the last two days, do I think there's going to be World War III? No, I don't. Do you know why? Because even though these puny,
Starting point is 00:07:13 ass clown dictators keep talking a big game. You know what they like more than anything? Breathing! I don't think it'll come to it. I think there'll be more and more pinpricks out there. That's about it.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Okay, later, the news. Now the markets. So as you know, it all started with the big Nvidia breakout to the upside. this happened on if I can get the date in my hand here
Starting point is 00:08:04 that would help January 8th Monday we highlighted Nvidia for days and days and days leading to our Friday the 5th telling you just letting you know moving above 506 we think it'll be a big
Starting point is 00:08:21 institutional move big cap name arguably the most important in stock in tech, at 506 was the breakout. Well, it hit a high today of $628 and ready for this. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, twelve, twelve trading days. Now, we are very careful about telling you what specifically we do. And the reason that is, we can change our mind. I can buy something today and sell it tomorrow. You never know. you just don't know but since we so much highlighted the stock view we're just letting you know we sold it down a little bit
Starting point is 00:09:03 today that has nothing to do with the longer term we don't know if it's going to go up 50 points tomorrow we just thought that hmm 506 to 628 how many days did I say 1 2 3 7 8 9 10 11 12 days for a big cap we took some we still have some
Starting point is 00:09:33 just letting you know we did a little bit of that on Broadcom also very simply it went up a hundred points within days in fact am I right in saying this four days on Broadcom
Starting point is 00:09:53 100 points and all we did was let go of a few that's all we did because we think there's a chance here these things can go much higher. So we'll keep some and if things worsen
Starting point is 00:10:10 it'll take us out. But it's a great lesson for each and every one of you. On themes, we are constantly talking about themes and sectors here. What are the areas we've been telling you to avoid themes?
Starting point is 00:10:32 China, oils, gold miners, among other things. Yesterday we said China may have woken up, but we don't like the fact that it's the government thing. Oh, they're going to get a few hundred billion bucks, try to prop things up. They said something nicer about regulations.
Starting point is 00:10:51 China's got big economic problems. Massive debt, property problems, real estate. But we'll see what happens. To us, all it's doing right now is bouncing. So for us doesn't change the trend. Up next, What are the themes in specific? I'm Gary.

Starting point is 00:12:37 the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us
Starting point is 00:12:52 live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal. A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like I get a stomachache every time that I eat. And it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just have a stomachache every day. Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy. And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with. So that's when we deep dive.
Starting point is 00:13:19 We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change. Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeart Radio. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. With the Venmo debit card, a taco in one hand, and ordering a ride in the other means you're stacking your rewards. Nice. Get up to 5% cash back with Venmo stash on your favorite brands when you pay with your Venmo debit card.
Starting point is 00:13:56 From takeout to ride shares, entertainment and more. Pick a bundle with your go-tos and start earning cash back at those brands. Do more stash, get more cash. Venmo-stash bundle terms and exclusions apply. See terms at Venmo.combe. Max-100 cash back per month. This is Sarah Spain from Good Game with Sarah Spain. Brought you in part by Vital Farms.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Let's talk eggs. Vital Farms pasture-raised eggs, to be exact. My favorites, the only kind I've got in my fridge. No joke. And here's why. These aren't your average eggs. The hens live on open. pastures with fresh air and sunshine all year long. They forage on local grasses and stretch their
Starting point is 00:14:31 wings. They're living their best life. That care really shows in the taste. I love mine scrambled with a little butter or whipped up into a fancy frittata. And here's something most people don't know. You can trace your eggs back to the farm they came from. Seriously, side of the carton, you'll find the farm name. Type it in at vitalfarms.com slash farm, and you'll get a 360-degree peak at the pasture. Plus, Vital Farms is a certified B corporation, which means they're committed to improving the lives people, animals, and the planet through food. Eggs you could feel good about. So next time you're in the store,
Starting point is 00:15:02 look for the black carton in the egg aisle, and visit VitalFarms.com to learn more. Vital Farms. Good eggs. No shortcuts. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. Welcome once again to Investors Edge. Another great theme of ours was avoid the solar stocks, and the solar stocks have crashed. And that's how we roll.
Starting point is 00:15:47 And that's how we ended up buying these artificial intelligence stocks slash semis slash software. That's how we ended up doing that. How did that happen? Well, if the number one stock, the number one stock in the artificial intelligence slash semis area breaks out of range of six months, well, then advanced micro devices follows, then Microsoft follows, then Facebook follows, then Broadcom follows, and you end up with one hell of a January. And I say that knowing I didn't play Super Micro, which I'm still beating the hell out of. myself on. So themes. So very important you stay in touch with themes or else. Stocks have a way of moving schools of fish. It's not often, if ever, if there are 40 stocks in a group and 39 of them are in a bare market and one of them's holding up that that one doesn't get
Starting point is 00:17:06 taken down and vice versa. Now today felt like, not 100% sure. Frantic. There was some frantic buying going on after a decent move. And sometimes that marks a point where not the end of the world,
Starting point is 00:17:29 but we did a little offensive and we'll probably be wrong. They probably smoked to the upside the next few days. We'll see. But you can't be wrong when you you make good cheese over a short period of time. So I'm not going to sweat it. But we just wanted to let you know.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Now remember, we're in the midst of earning seasons. Netflix was up 54 bucks today on earnings. ASML Holdings was up 69 bucks on earnings. And sometimes it's very weird. In that, sometimes we just don't understand how something goes up on what we consider to be bleh. that's why we pay attention to the reaction which is more important than anything and that's how we pretty much
Starting point is 00:18:26 roll so keep listening we'll stay on top of things and remember this doesn't happen by accident what we do between 3.30 and 4 p.m. today I scanned 1500 stocks 200 sectors
Starting point is 00:18:53 every country every commodity How do you do that in a half hour, Gary? We can. We have a little software that each second pushes a stock. So in one minute, 60 stocks. And if we do it ourselves manually, I think we can get 90. You add it up. It's not that hard.
Starting point is 00:19:22 And what we do while we scan? Like we're going to do a webcast tonight where we're going to talk about what to avoid. first because we want to make sure people are not in bare markets and as we scan we're noticing gold miners in silver Tesla Ford and GM media stocks Kimberly Clark Starbucks the Solars is mentioned the drugstores 3M DuPont housing related just topped we sold our housing-related stuff a few days ago. And we actually thought we were wrong because the next day it rallied. But then D.R. Horton reported earnings, and now they're getting smoked.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Gary's happy. China, just a bounce. Oil is a better day today, but not finding much. FedEx, Nike, Gap down. Texas Instruments, yick. This is how we do things. We made a call also on the cryptos. though, a couple of Thursdays
Starting point is 00:20:39 ago the day the ETFs came out. They opened it up a pot. I was on TV at 10 a.m. and I said to Stuart Varney sell the news. They've been crushing the micro strategy and the coin base and all those names.
Starting point is 00:20:58 And now we sit and we watch for earnings. And as we mentioned a few good ones. There were some bad ones. But like I'm watching IBM just reported, Closed at 174. I got it at 182 in the aftermarket. IBM.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Tesla reported the stock's been very weak. Down another $8 in the aftermarket as I speak. Avoid. Bare market. Service now. Reported. That's flat. Lamb Research reported. That's an important name.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Has been up strong recently because of Taiwan semi-announcing, oh, a lot more chips going forward. So the equipment makers moved. And Lamb Research reports, they beat, guides in line, nothing big, nothing special. Stocks up another nine bucks today to give it up 24 today. Strong day for the semis. And this is where we find our names. And we'll study the earnings reports tonight.
Starting point is 00:22:12 What's good, what's bad, what's indifferent. And then we'll look at the reactions. and take it from there. Netflix reported, as we said up 53 bucks, at one time today was up 68. Numbers, okay. Subscribers, bafo, big numbers. And of course, they signed on the WWE
Starting point is 00:22:38 for five years. Or was it 10 years? For five billion bucks. So they're getting more and more into live stuff. Little acceleration in sales, we'll see how it goes. New high, gapped into new highs. Came down little later in the day when the market came down because NASDAQ was up really big today.
Starting point is 00:23:08 I think it was up 200 at one time, but finished only up 55. Yes, correct. 15-629 at one time today. 2919, that's 148. It was 203. Finished up 50, only 56. So things pulling back.
Starting point is 00:23:24 We'll see what tomorrow brings. But for a change, we're letting you know specifics because we were very in-depth on them, and we'll see how it goes. Just a good day for AI, though off the highs. And now we got a couple more thousand earnings reports in the next couple of weeks. Up next, more of this, that and the other thing, and whatever else. This is the one only investors edge. I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions

Starting point is 00:26:57 We're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended.
Starting point is 00:27:11 You're going to feel better if you talk to him. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. Wow, IBM is a strong stock right now. I don't own it. It's had a nice little move, IBM. It's been so dead for so long, but acting much better. In case you don't know, IBM,
Starting point is 00:27:34 even with being up like nine bucks in the aftermarket, is trading right where it was 2011. 13 years, no gains. And you're ready for this? going back to 1999, the stock hit a high of 133. In the aftermarket, it's 182 right now. 133 to 182. Let's call it 50 points on 133.
Starting point is 00:28:10 That's not even 40% gain in 25 years. I would call that underperforming, especially for a technology stock. My goodness, what an underperformer. Maybe they're getting their act together a little bit. Strong stock right now. And I must say also Intel on the stronger side recently. That said, Intel hit a high of $76 in August of 2000. It's 49 today.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Yeah, think long time. It's a good company. I love people. just remember ladies and gentlemen I agree think long term but only stay with things that are working long term you got that do you know how many companies are no longer
Starting point is 00:29:10 you know how many a bazillion so if you thought long term on the bad ones ew keep that in mind yields 4.178 wow if I have
Starting point is 00:29:31 The only real big change so far was a few days ago and we told you the housing looked to have topped. Was it a few days ago or was it Monday? It was yesterday, duh, and we think that has to do with just some of the numbers coming out and higher interest rates. And that includes housing related stocks. We're seeing them gag a little bit. You know, anything you put in your house, flooring, Home Depot lows of the world. By the way, Home Depot much stronger than Lowe's. So that's one change.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Not seeing much else yet. Stay tuned. But leave no doubt the story right now is artificial intelligence, semi-software. But be careful. We're now in midst of earning season. And tomorrow's another day. and I'm going to be watching China very closely, very closely. Nothing to do just yet.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Always looking for changes when something is so over-hated. Remember how we talk about over-loved, over-leveraged? They're over-hated. That means they're under-owned. And you know what happens when something turns from being under-owned? you can get big, big gains. And that's the story of the day. Oil prices up a stick.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Oil stocks better. But to me, that's just a relief rally at this point in time. Not much else to tell you. And then there's the news. First off, on my Twitter feed, I posted a five-minute, my buddy Charles Payne was on last night. Go to my Twitter feed and go watch that. I'm not going to say anything more. But in the news, we'll start Vermont.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Homer Bernie Sanders. And those anti-Semites banning juries. Vermont becomes the latest state to propose wealth taxes. The people running these states are such morons. Who has it easiest to be able to move if they're treated like crap. They're wealthy. They've been running out of California,
Starting point is 00:32:43 coming to my state. Keep it up, you doofuses. A wealth tax. Imagine. You get taxed by your state, you get taxed federally, you get taxed when you die, you get taxed on things you buy.
Starting point is 00:33:02 If you stay at a hotel, you're taxed up the wazoo. You're taxed on airline, you taxed on everything. thing. Oh, now on your wealth. These control freak Marxists. Well, they keep getting elected. Oh, but it's just for the wealthy. Yeah, well, they'll be gone. You know, California has a major deficit now. Do you know why? Case closed. That would be Vermont following in the footsteps of idiots. In the news, China, as I mentioned, they're trying to prop up growth. They're going to boost
Starting point is 00:33:44 bank lending. They're eager to curb a stock sell off and support the economy. Here's the problem with that. They need to free up their markets again. They unfreed them. They went more control. So I don't know if anything's going to change. But we'll be. be watching. I found this in the news. Do you know Gaza tunnels? They're farther and longer and bigger and whatever than like the whole New York subway system? Little Gaza. Do you know they're finding the tunnels in hospitals, schools, homes, apartments, you name it? The whole area is full of tunnels. and by the way they're terrorist tunnels. They're not to play in.
Starting point is 00:34:50 The amount of military armament that they're finding, I don't care what these ass clowns are saying. Israel's doing the right thing. To defend and protect the country. By the way, the head of Hamas came out. Do you know what he stated? Nothing gets done until Israel is gone. All of Israel is taken over.
Starting point is 00:35:19 All the Jews are gone. on. Yeah, sure. Let's kiss their butts. Sure enough. In the news, hey, a CVS store is closing in DC. Do you know why? Oh, because a bunch of teens have been ransacking it and they left it with no merchandise and they, CVS finally said, uncle, great uncle. Washington, D.C. run by a bunch of control freak Marxists that kiss the rear end of the criminals and do nothing to protect the citizenry. That's all. Nobody goes to jail for anything.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Carjackings are up. They actually have to put out posters. How to protect yourself from carjacking. That's how much of a problem is in Washington, D.C. Imagine living in Washington, D.C. and have to read how to protect yourself from carjackings because we refuse to do anything about it. How's that?
Starting point is 00:36:43 Just let you know. Another store gone, less employees. It's happening in all the control freak Marxist cities. Ladies and gents. And as I've said time and time again, where are the journalists asking Nancy Pelosi about San Fran? Our district, they never ask because they're afraid they'll lose their badges. It's amazing to watch.
Starting point is 00:37:13 The media supposed to hold powerful to account afraid of the powerful. Up next, what else do I got for you? This is the one only investor's edge. Hi, I'm Dr. J. Goodman, host of Beyond the Script. the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. That care really shows in the taste. I love mine scrambled with little butter or whipped up into a fancy frittata. And here's something most people don't know. You could trace your eggs back to the farm they came from. Seriously, side of the carton, you'll find
Starting point is 00:40:13 the farm name. Type it in at vitalfarms.com slash farm, and you'll get a 360-degree peak at the pasture. Plus, Vital Farms is a certified bee corporation, which means they're committed to improving the lives of people, animals, and the planet through food. Eggs you could feel good about. So next time you're in the store, look for the black carton in the egg aisle and visit VitalFarms.com to learn more. Vital Farms. Good eggs. No shortcuts. You're listening to What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go.

Starting point is 00:41:35 I got it at 587. in the aftermarket. That's okay. Service now. Closed at 763. Ups 746. Tesla closed
Starting point is 00:41:50 207, almost 208, it's 20260. Tesla very weak. Ameriprise Financial, a financial I follow. 389 close. I'm not sure what is in the aftermarket.
Starting point is 00:42:05 There's a big spread on it. So I cannot tell you. Looks like it may be down 2%. And I think that's about it for the Aftermark report. And by the way, if you want to know what's going on this year so far, Russell 2000's down 3%. The NASDAQ is up 3%. The Dow is flat.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Seagate. Closed it 89. It's 89. That's no fun. We like big movers. CSX, the railroad. That's no fun. It's not moving. And that's it for now. In other news, and the reason we bring this up is we continue to elect these control freak Marxists, we're screwed.

We're not making this up. just letting you know it's it's the insanity out there is beyond the beyond I don't know where that went and where this started

Starting point is 00:44:39 In case you don't know, Gavin Newsom will be on the presidential election favorites of the Marxist control freak party in 28. And who knows if Biden backs out could be sooner rather than later. I'd like to say these things I'm reporting to you that I'm making them up but this is what's really going on stores are shutting down because nobody's getting arrested for thievery
Starting point is 00:45:21 murder is getting community service carjackings run amok in DC because nothing is being done in certain cities police cannot arrest because they lowered the bar or raised the bar on what is violence versus not what more can I tell you lastly in the news
Starting point is 00:45:53 you know how they say that Israel is to blame that they are the occupiers that they are apartheid, yes, sure enough, that Israel caused all the problems for the Palestinians. Starting point is 00:47:10 And again, we don't make this up. The citizens of Chicago elected a bigger Marxist control freak than the last woman who is pretty much killing the city. The Chicago mayor now comes out and states this for the record. Reparations will stop and help tackle the cycle of violence amid a 17% of, surge in crime. Yes, reparations. Steal from the citizens that are earning money and just hand them to people that don't work for that money. Give them to the criminals. It'll stop crime.
