permission. Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum. Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the
Biz Talk Studios, here is Gary Coltbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colbom,
your host. Thanks for being with us today. Glad you're here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you
are listening. August 10th, it took me a second. And I know it's Wednesday. That didn't take me a second.
2022 and we're here to how do I want to put this make sure you're paying attention to what you need to pay attention to
nothing more and nothing less and it's not easy
Why just turn on the TV turn on your radio
listen to all the talking heads, including me.
I'm just a little more handsome and buffed.
And you know there's a lot of agendas and a lot of ulterior motives.
We just want you to pay attention to the market.
That's what pays you or takes away from you.
Not somebody's opinion.
We'll get into that in a minute.
But first, if you do not get this race,
show in your city, we will post it at gary k.com. We'll also post it on our Twitter feed.
You can follow me on Twitter, just press the button or go to Twitter and put my name in.
You can email me. You just have to be nice. And everybody's been nice. I don't have any more
ass clowns emailing me anymore. And I shouldn't have probably said that because I'm sure now a
couple will show up. And you know why I think that is? Because I just respect everybody.
back regardless. Completely disagree with me, completely agree with me. I respect you back,
your opinion, you're right to think what you think. And most people aren't that way anymore.
Well, I'm not going to say most people. A lot of people aren't that way anymore. If you disagree
with them, you're the Antichrist. You see that, right? Anyway, maybe on the nut. Next, before we get
going. The important things in life. Our draft today, I'm number seven this year in our 10-team
draft, the Couch Potato Football League. The last two years I picked number one. And of course,
I picked Christian McCaffrey both years, and he went out with injury, so I was screwed from the
get-go. I pick seven this year. So what that gives me, number seven and 13, and that's not so bad.
draft will be the day after Labor Day
and of course we'll always let you know what's going on there.
Next, as I speak, the Mets are in the bottom of the eighth inning
at home against lowly Cincinnati Reds.
They're up 10 to 2.
A touchdown in a field goal versus a safety.
The Mets will be 73 and 39 after today.
And I believe up next is Scher and Jake.
I think Scherz is tomorrow.
What a great year so far.
And I don't want to jinx them, but so far I haven't jinxed them at all by mentioning them.
All you crazy sports fans, you know what I'm going through right now,
because this is not the norm for the Mets, but they're really a good team.
And when I watch the games, you can see the great camaraderie with this team.
Anyway, 73 and 39 after today.
Next.
I posted on my Twitter feed if you go there.
I don't know if you've seen this.
There was a Little League game to get into the World Series,
and a pitcher for one team hit the batter right in the head,
and it looked really bad.
The video, though, cuts to
The batter going to first base, but then walking over to the pitcher.
And you know what he did with the pitcher who was pretty much broken up, I think probably crying?
He hugged him and told him everything's great.
Everything will be fine.
You're great.
Keep doing what you're doing.
I'm going to guess this kid is 15 years old.
I'm going to guess he's 15.
Every adult
Should learn from this kid
Go look it up if you don't see it on my Twitter feet
It's out there pretty much everywhere right now
Think about that
Awesome
Just awesome

I got an email
Dear 360 premium user
Thanks for renewal with Norton 360
Security
Your invoice plan has been renewed
Feel free to contact us if you have any queries
at this number have a great day Norton LifeLock.
And of course, I don't have any Norton LifeLock.
And what they want you to do is click on the button to view the details.
And of course, if you receive an email that seems fraudulent, you call us.
In other words, it's a scam.
So I'm going to repeat a few things for you guys out there because there's a bunch of skanks out there.
don't click on anything when you get something like this
you should know what you've paid for and not what you get
I called them up
and I said three words that I cannot repeat on this show
after I kind of you know fake them out for a couple of minutes
just to feel them out what they really try to do
is get on your computer
and who knows what they're going to try
and steal or do, they're just bad.
They're just bad.
And I try to fake them out by telling them, by the way, I'm with the FBI and we're going
to be knocking at your door in two minutes.
But I think most of them are in other countries, say they don't give a crap.
So just watch yourself, protect yourself.
They never stop.
And last but not least, before we get into an possibly very important day in the market.
you ever have to have like somebody you really dig and care about but haven't seen them in decades or you've maybe seen them a couple of times and then you get contacted by them and it's like a great day even though you've seen them once in 20 years you have any people you know like that so my best friends in life are pretty much from elementary in high school I kind of skipped college
though I have some friends from college
but I'm not great friends
but I see them with friendly
but there's one person
that
how do I put this best
taught me fair play
but made me realize
that
drinking
to be crap faced and laying on the ground
is not cool doing drugs
not cool
just being good is cool.
And that's what this man taught me my whole life.
And I've seen him maybe once in the last 20 years.
His name's Rob Rubin.
If you ever come across him, he's in New York City.
I think he works for AmeriPrize.
This is what this man taught me.
The reason I'm bringing this up, he told me he listened to the show yesterday.
I was like, whoa, I dig that.
And I don't know if he's listening today.
But you never know who you can.
can learn from and you never know the things you can remember that are of import.
And there's certain conversations, first off, he's the funniest, whatever in the history
of time.
I think pretty much I've had the biggest laughs of my life with him.
But the most important thing I recognize from him is just fair play.
And I can't use the words I want to use about don't be a blankety blank.
That's what I was taught.
So if you know him, you ever met him, you're meeting a real good guy, good person.
And my only wish was I stayed good friends with them because I've seen them maybe once in 20 years or something like that.
Last time I saw him, I think we went to like off-track betting.
A long time ago went to dinner.
That was a while back.
Anyway, I'm sure you know people like that.
You're past that you don't see, but you really, certain things.
stick out. So if you are listening, Ruby Doobie Do, I was thrilled to hear you heard the show yesterday.

Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script,
the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions
you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter.
In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola,
who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues,
we should not accept as normal.
A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches.
Like I get a stomachache every time that I eat.
And it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just, I have a stomach
ache every day.
Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy.
And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you
should be living with.
So that's when we deep dive.
We deep dive into your medication.
We deep dive into your OTC medication.
And then at that point, we can put it.
probably identify something that we can change.
Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so
much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeart
Radio. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts.

It's time to switch on the integrator units
and get the brain cells working.
You're listening to.
Hey, this promises to be fun.
Investors Edge.
The last bastion of quality programming.
with Gary Coltbaum.
It doesn't get better than this.
Okay, so let's turn back the clock.
Let's turn back the clock.
The low of the bear market was June 17th.
The 10-year yield topped out, really June 16th,
but confirmed it on June 17th.
Since then, the 10-year yield has tanked,
notwithstanding some bounces.
The market bottom coincidental.
sided with that. Simple as that. No ifs ands or buts. Not an opinion. It's sheer reality.
But that in itself only means, okay, the market found a place. That's all you can go by.
And we drifted up and then we sat around for a while. And then July 19th came. That was the day we thought
meant something. But, but earnings, massive amounts of earnings to come out,
central bank making another move. We started probing again on that timidly, July 19th,
and guess what? We did that also in March when we thought the market had turned,
unknown price and time, and it just so happened topped out 12 days later. But this
one has become different. Remember how I've explained to you, bull and bear markets. The definition
of a bull market is two steps up, one step back, two steps up, one step back, two steps up, one step back,
three steps up, two steps back, two steps back, but holding those areas. That's the definition of a
ball market. The definition of a bear market, one step up, two steps back. One step up, two steps back.
One step up, two steps back. One step up, three steps back. Two steps up, two steps back. Two steps up,
two steps back, but then drop in again. What else have we taught you is defining moments in
markets. What's our one simple line about the 50-day moving average? Above it potentially good,
below it potentially bad. Above it, nothing bad could happen. Below it, nothing good can happen.
And these are facts. They're not opinions. It is the physicality of the market. It is the
physicality of sectors, of stocks. And what happened on that day,
of July 19th was the NASDAQ broke back above the 50-day moving average, followed by the S&P.
And then what happened? Rallied up a few days. And then had a bad day on July 26th.
Bad day, July 26. But it held the 50-day moving average.
All of a sudden, we had a two-step up, one step back.
two step up, one step back, but we've seen that before in bare markets.
It aborts and then good night.
Then something happened, though.
Because on the next day, and the next day, we started getting earnings reports from the big guys.
And in case you don't know, Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Tesla are 42% of the NASDAQ 100.
Apple and Amazon are like 22%.
and Apple reports crappy numbers.
Stock goes up.
Amazon reports a 20-cent loss.
Stock goes up.
Google announces a 1% drop in earnings,
their worst number I've ever seen.
Stock goes up.
Microsoft major deceleration in earnings and sales.
Stock goes up.
What the heck's with that?
Well, what do we also always?
told you it's not the news it's how things react to the news what else have we also told you in bull markets
bad news is bought up good news is really bought up in bare markets good news is sold down and bad news is
really sold down and since those names reported they've had a couple little pullbacks but keep going higher
but what else have you had well you've had carvana announce a two dollar and thirty-five
cent loss.
That sucks.
There's also been questioning about their accounting and stuff.
Guess what the stock did on a major deceleration in sales and a $2.35
loss.
It goes from 34 to 48.
It's not the news.
It's how things react to the news.
You get that?
Square.
They now call it block.
They reported 63% drop in earning, 6% drop in sales.
That's after our 56 and the 22.
Guess what the stock did?
It rallied.
And I can go through a whole host of names that reported crappy numbers.
And they still rallied.
What does that say to you?
The complexion of the market has changed.
While everybody's reporting inflation, recession, depression,
inflation, recession.
Biden sucks.
taxes, debt, deficits.
Oh, that's us, by the way.
But what's happened in spite of, which led us to today?
Because we got an inflation number today, which of course the administration's lying about,
he came out and said it's 0%.
No, no, no, it was 0% from last month.
It's still 8.5% over the last year.
But, you know, they just lie.
It's a habit.
Nothing they can do about it.
On that news today, market rap brought you by investment dash models.com.

Dowp 535 NASDAQ 360.
And it was a gap to the upside on the news.
S&P up 87, NASDAQ 100 up 370.
Transport's up 450.
By the way, we'll stop right there.
We'll come back with the transports and much more.
This is the one only investors ad.

It comes highly recommended.

And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
Thanks for being with us.
What else?
Let's just go through
more stuff
in the last few days
semiconductor after semiconductor company is warned.
Some warned big time.
Nvidia lowered their sales by like 200 million.
It's up 10 bucks today.
The semiconductor index up 121 today.
What is that?
4% today.
How can that be?
They're all warning.
We're hearing about a depression in the semiconductors.
transports, recession?
Just so you know, the transports broke above the 50-day moving average, that all-important area,
sat around it for six days above it, and then broke above it on July 28th, two steps up, one step back.
It's up 10% in nine days.
Recession, transports, 10% in nine days?
really rails truckers logistics recession how can that be isn't the market smart we're also here in no way
this can be happening because the fed's going to raise rates again what did we tell you about that they
don't matter the fed doesn't matter they're behind what matters is real rates which have come down
not to mention commodity prices coming down.
That's what's doing it.
What else?
Well, we have been showing you and telling you about all these names that were down 50 to 80%.
In the, we'll call it the software area,
higher beta growth slash technology slash software security and that stuff.
And when we called the tops in the middle of last year, what did we say to you throughout all of last year, back end, plus the first few months of this year?
We're stunned.
How far these have gone down?
50, 60, 70, 80, 90 percent.
Holy crap.
Just about all of them, regardless of their numbers.
regardless what they say, regardless of their losses, have come off that floor, whether it's 50%, 60%, 70%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and put in firm lows, some of them better than others.
This area was a major weight on the markets.
Now, mind you, these aren't leading stock.
and leading groups. These are stocks recovering from absolute slaughters. And you know what we mean by
slaughter. We've done the examples on the show. Symbol NET goes from 222 down to 40. Rallies to 50
and sits there for 12 weeks between 50 and 60. Nothing to do. Gaps up Friday.
day from 50 something up to 70 on a big one cent earnings up another seven today and looks like it
wants to go higher that's what we mean and that's just one name in our webcast we'll do a hundred of
them tonight and walk through them and then they're the ones that are losing money a bunch of them
PayPal, $300 down to $70,
drop in earnings, major deceleration in sales,
gaps up, sitting tight again, still $98 bucks, down from $300,
but you can draw a horizontal line under all these names
and then a stair step, at least one stair step up.
and when we say it's just about all of them, it's just about all of them.
And what we can basically state for the record is they got washed out after 50, 60, 70, 80% drops.
We don't know which are going to turn it into big gigantic stocks.
We don't know which ones are going to abort soon.
We don't know which ones are going to keep going.
We're just letting you know right now they're going and had a very good day to day.
Even some names, I'm going to give you a little roadblocks today.
Gap down six bucks for a simple reason.
Big deceleration in sales and a big loss.
Finished up 60 cents today.
Why?
The market complexion.
Now, we don't want to own things that are being lifted up by a strong market.
We want to own things that are leading the market up.
That jury's still out.
But we're just letting you know.
This second, this second, bad news is being bought or ignored.
That's a complexion change.
For how long we don't know, for how far we don't know,
we just deal with the here and now and the reality and just letting you know.
Now, what do we want you to be careful about?
And let us pull no punches on that.
The politics of the markets.
the politics of the economy.
Oh, there's an election coming up.
We can't stand any of them.
We have no bias.
So what we want you to ignore are those on the left
that are now telling us at Shangri-R-La
and those on the right
that say the end of the world's coming
and this can't be happening.
Pay attention to price.
That's what you get paid on.
that's what you lose money on.
Not some political pundit and their hackery and their bias to make their point come hell or high water.
You got that?
Just watch the market.
Give you all the clues.
And very, very good day today in the market.
Getting back what it lost in the past couple of days.
And I think a little bit more.
But with a little extra, looks like financials have turned the corner,
like transports did two weeks ago,
looks like maybe even housing and retail of turning the corner.
And what do we mean by turning the corner?
They stop going down, stair step up.
Our job now is to gauge.
Is it going to be another stair step and another?
And the more areas that do it, the more broad base the market is in the face of it's the end of the world.
So as a lesson, we drown them all out.
We drown them out.
We drown them out.
We drown out the perma bears.
We drown out the bears if the market's acting well.
We drown out the bulls at all times.
Because they're always bullish.
Come heck or high water.
Saw a few misfits trying to tell us how good they are
when they miss the whole bare market.
I love people.
Miss the whole bare market, destroy wealth, lose a ton of money.
The broken clocks finally write twice a day and take credit for it.
We ignore them.
We don't name names.
We just kind of make fun.
of them without naming names. And they know who they are, but they don't care. What's their job?
Sell you. I'm an expert. I'm a guru. Yeah. So that's in a big nutshell. Up next, whatever else I can think of.

Investors Edge with Gary Culper.
And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
Disney reported in the aftermarket.
It didn't matter what they say.
We don't buy blindly, though, before earnings,
but I even wrote notes to myself.
I wrote a little note saying,
Disney's going to gap up no matter what they say. That's what I wrote. Stock closed at 112.40. I got at
119. Disney. Doesn't matter what they said. By the way, that's down from 203, March of 21.
And believe in and not, Disney stock is sitting right where it was. You ready for this?
Ooh, 2015. So seven years of no gains on Disney stock.
that's how far down.
But again,
I was just thinking to myself,
okay, Disney's important,
it's got a gap up,
no matter what.
It doesn't matter what they say.
We're in that second.
And as we always tell you,
we don't know what tomorrow brings,
and if anything,
changes, we'll let you know,
but a little more confirmation of stickiness
in the market.
And some names have done a second stair step.
Some names didn't even,
into a step. They've just gone
kind of sort of straight up.
But what's got me is
these semiconductors.
Strong day to day.
On horrid news.
Remember
I said Lamb Research is down like
50 yesterday? 25 today.
Nvidia, as I mentioned,
10 today. So
just pay attention to the market.
Just pay attention to the market.
And remember what also I said yesterday.
two people I really respect swore.
Now, I take that back.
They didn't swear.
They believed that the High Monday, that was it for now.
I'm sure they adjusted today.
The Dow went above that today.
The S&P above that today.
The NASDAQ almost above that today.
But as I look at my screen,
on a lot of names you probably haven't heard of,
a bunch of 3, 4, 5% movers in the beta, B-E-T-A.
But then I go look, oh, let's see, up 4 to 45,
oh, that's a good 10% move.
Oh, the stock was 127, nine months ago.
That's the story.
That's what's going on.
And until we see
serious distribution, heavy volume selling.
We don't.
And now every day we stay above that 50-day moving average gives it a chance to start moving higher.
And then the virtuous process can possibly happen.
Now, I heard some people today say bare market rally, no doubt in our minds.
I think they're nuts
I think they're nuts
I didn't say bull market
I just think to think that
is a mistake
market's saying otherwise
and again as always
if things change will let you know
but man oh man that move above the 50 day
and that hold right before the big earnings
came out and the central bank
whatever whatever dang
good move
Now notice I didn't really get into any inflation report that came out today.
We don't need...
We told you seven weeks ago we thought inflation had peaked.
It was not a genius call.
Every commodity topped out with some absolutely croaking.
I do know there are other factors, rent and use cars or whatever.
but for me, energy and food prices rule the roost.
Input, copper, goes into a lot of crap, aluminum, steel.
All these areas topped.
Now maybe they bought them again and get going again.
We'll let you know.
And they've had some counter-trend moves, but we don't need no inflation number today.
we told you six, seven, it was about seven weeks ago we started telling you that, along with yields.
Not knowing trend.
Remember, when we say something's on the move, we don't know how long it lasts or how far it goes.
Well, this one's lasted and this one's been going.
We also heard today, ah, it's just short covering.
Horse crap.
We don't want you to listen to that either.
Price is price.
is price. And if you give excuse to it, not a good thing. If you fight it, not a good thing.
And again, if anything changes, we'll let you know. But bad news is being bought. Simplistic is that.
And notice, we're no screaming bull. But we ain't no screaming bear. Once we got it back above the
day, we had to change stance, and now we'll see where it decides to take us.
Recession? Oh, we still worried. Savings rates plunging, credit card usage skyrocketing,
housing prices coming down. A lot of things going on, a lot of moving parts. We're just going to
watch the market. And the Mets keep winning. That all said, you have a great evening.
drive carefully.
When you get home, do like we do, it's quite simple.
Make sure you hug your family, hug your children.
They will feel better.
You will feel better.
And by the way, I haven't said this in a while.
If you have the opportunity and the wherewithal,
think about doing something for somebody you need absolutely nothing from.
Think about it.
Until tomorrow, I'll be on with Varney 9 a.m. hour.
Fox Business and same time for the show.
Take care all.
