Starting point is 00:00:33 Investor's Edge with Gary Kaltbaum. Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Kaltbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Kaltbaum, your host. A thanks for being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It's November 11, 2024.
Starting point is 00:00:53 I think it's Monday. Hope you had a good weekend. Little schedule this week, just so you know, Wednesday. I think it's number 20. It may be 21. That's how long it's been. The Colbaum Family Thanksgiving dinner for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida will be on this coming Wednesday. I believe we'll be serving about 300 young men and women from the boys and girls clubs coming to one of the clubs.
Starting point is 00:01:26 We're going to give them a Thanksgiving dinner a little bit early this year because of a scheduling. conflict. One of the proud things the family does, as we always said to you, always think about doing something for somebody you need absolutely nothing from as we get into the holiday season, if you are able to, of course. And it doesn't have to be big. It can be little, it can be small, it can be something just for one person or maybe more. Anyway, we're very proud of it. This will be this Wednesday. It's definitely 20. It may be 21. I don't think it's 22. And I gather we have served probably around 6,000, maybe 7,000 meals to young men and women who may or may not have a Thanksgiving dinner.
Starting point is 00:02:17 So we're very proud of that. That'll be on Wednesday, which means I may not be doing the show on Wednesday. We'll see how that goes. You know, we were going to start the show today with the markets. but we're going to have plenty of time to do that. And boy, oh, boy, there's some outlier moves, ladies and gentlemen, and some things, and we're going to go through it. But I have to continue with the aftermath of the election because we're finding out some things.
Starting point is 00:02:50 And as you know, I have not been very kind to Donald Trump here. we have been very kind to him on his economic policies except his tariffs we have been very kind to him on Israel we have been very kind to him on other things but overall we have not been very kind to him on what we call the presidentialness We think that's got to be a part of the program. But today, we're going to be very kind to him. Because something I talked about on this show for a couple of years that had been ignored, and we never heard a word out of this administration on,
Starting point is 00:03:46 this president to be, again, put out a 10-point plan on something I'll call it a big wow. Something that I felt very close to, very important to. We've been using the word, words upward mobility. Very often here, and we haven't heard that at all from this administration because, as you know, Marxists and socialists do not like successful people because successful people do not need them anymore. So we're not even going to introduce ourselves today,
Starting point is 00:04:24 but you know who we are. Investors' Edge, serious talk on everything that affects you. I'm Gary Kopp. And if you do not get this show in your city, actually, we are doing it. You go to GaryK.com or you can go to our Twitter feed. And if you don't follow us on Twitter, you should, which is now X. And if you'd like to email me, just be nice. And we cover everything that needs to be covered that affects you.
Starting point is 00:04:47 So ladies and gentlemen, I have said to you, where is the talk of upward mobility and greatness? from this administration. We haven't heard a word of that. Donald Trump put out a 10-point plan to revitalize the American system. Have you seen what the numbers are on math and English for the young kids of America? You may want to do that. So let me read these 10 things. One, we will respect the right of parents to control the education of their children. What a concept. The parents. I still remember there was somebody who said it takes a village.
Starting point is 00:05:33 No, it takes a family. Number two, we will empower parents and local school boards to hire and reward great principals and teachers. What a concept. Great principles and teachers. three, we will ensure our classrooms are focused not on political indoctrination, but on teaching the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in reading, writing, math, science, arithmetic, and other truly useful subjects. Wow! And by the way, we can only have gotten here for a reason. I'm sorry, but on many levels of our education system, it's been lacking.
Starting point is 00:06:26 You do know that. and that is not a rub on teachers, the system. Four, we will teach students to love their country, not to hate their country like they're being taught right now, and let me be clear about that. That's going on a lot. Five, we'll support bringing back prayer to our schools. Six, we will retrieve schools that are safe, secure, and drug-free
Starting point is 00:07:00 with immediate expulsion for any student who harms a teacher and other students. expulsion. Do you think these clowns at the universities would keep doing what they're doing if they knew they were going to be expelled? Do you know how many students were expelled that got in the face of Jewish students and threatened their lives? None. And by the way, they're out doing some of that crap again right now. Seven, we will give all parents the right to choose another school for their children if they want. It's called school choice. What a concept. Think about this. You ready? Think about this. You go to a restaurant. The service is bad. The food's bad. Guess what you get to choose. A different restaurant. Why can't we do that with schools?
Starting point is 00:07:56 Do you know my family gives scholarships to young men and women that are at very rough and tough schools and we pay for their private schools. With the help of some of these private schools, it's a partnership, my family, and the schools. And the outcome for these young men and women are so much better because some of these schools are failing. What a concept. Number eight, we will ensure students have access to project. Listen to this one. We will ensure students have access to the project. We will ensure students have access to project-based learning experiences inside the classroom to help train them from meaningful work outside the classroom. That's awesome. Nine, we will strive to give all students
Starting point is 00:08:52 access to internships and work experiences that can set them on the path to their first job. 10, we will ensure that all schools provide excellent jobs in career counseling so that high school and college students can get a head start on jobs and careers best suited to their god-given talents. I love this. And for almost four years, we didn't hear squat on this from this administration, A plus plus to Donald Trump on that. Next. So he's hiring Tom Holman to be the border czar to take over for the other border czar Kamala Harris who said she wasn't the border czar. And I watched an interview with Tom Homan. They were asking how do you, I'm going to pay for this. The question was, how are you going to pay for all these migrants coming
Starting point is 00:10:00 over? But how are you going to pay for the deportation? That's how sick in the mind these journalists are. While some of these cities are croaking right now on how much they are spending on people coming across the border, the question was the cost of that, the question was the cost of deportation. They're insane, these journalists, good hire by the president. And you know what they said? Here's the first thing we're doing. We're deporting the criminals who are here, What another great concept. Where was Biden on that? Oh, let's just leave the criminals here. So to President Trump? Excellent. And remember, we're not racist here. We love immigration. We just want it controlled. That's all. What a concept. Well done to the president on two very important things. Up next.
Starting point is 00:11:08 little more, and then the markets. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist, Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal.
Starting point is 00:11:57 A lot of what I see is just like, chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like, I get a stomach ache every time that I eat. And it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just, I have a stomach ache every day. Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy. And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with.
Starting point is 00:12:18 So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change. Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeartRadio. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. All right, quick quiz for the hiring managers out there. What's worse? Being understaffed or being poorly staffed?

Starting point is 00:15:27 You're listening to... Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. So, and by the way, all this matters. How about that 10-point plan on education?
Starting point is 00:15:50 You may not agree with all 10, but did you hear what they're going to do? And I guarantee you they're going to follow through on that. Now, on the immigration, they're going to do the job that the past administration did not. do and on purpose, imagine they're going to round up the criminals and send them packing. What's wrong with that? I'm pretty cool with that, aren't you? Which takes me to the other part. So we're finding things out now.
Starting point is 00:16:34 For those of you who voted for Harris and watch these celebrities advocate, for them. In fact, Oprah was up there saying, we won't have a democracy ever. You're not even going to be able to vote again if Trump wins. Oprah was paid a million dollars. She was paid. What? Katie Perry was paid. Bruce Springsteen. They paid out millions of dollars to the celebrities that I'm thinking, maybe I'm an idiot. I'm thinking they're out there because they love Harris and hate Trump. No, they got the big bucks. Well, I still think they hate Trump.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Wow. Maybe I'm ignorant. They spent over a billion dollars. Some people are estimating up towards $1.6 billion in the Harris campaign. About 6,700 million went to people. And they're 20 million in debt. Yeah. she would have been great with our treasure.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Unbelievable. They spent over a billion dollars and they, do you know, they're sending out email still, send us money? Wow! This is a big wow. And I don't know whether he was trolling or not,
Starting point is 00:18:23 but Trump put out a tweet saying, hey, let's unity, we got plenty of money, we'll be glad to pay off your debt. I think he may have. meant it. Anyway, they paid the celebrities. Next. And we'll finish up with this. So I traveled this weekend. I have yet to watch the Sunday shows. I watch the Sunday political shows and I go through because I want to see what these people have to say. But I got one of them in. Meet depressed.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Notice I didn't say the press. I said depressed. Just a show of hackery, one-sided, biased. I thought when they brought this woman in that she would not be biased, another biased. She does fact-checking on one side, not on the other. It's almost laughable to watch. Anyway, they had guests on, and let me tell you what a bunch of them are saying. Their messaging was bad. You've got to have a better message to people.
Starting point is 00:19:36 they lost the message. Yes, the message, the message, the message, the message. No. If they're listening to Gary, I would say your policies suck. That's what's wrong. Open borders. This woke weird stuff. And let me be clear about the woke weird stuff.
Starting point is 00:20:00 There's some weird stuff in there. Massive government. Giveaways. Cues. and now Nancy Pelosi who engineered the coup is blaming why didn't Biden get out quicker? Yeah, it's all Joe's fault now. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:20:27 So tigers are now eating their young, as they say. They're going after each other, but the fun part is watching. They're blaming the messaging. And I have to tell you, for those you care about the Democratic Party, you better get to them and tell them that Gary says it has nothing to do with the message. It has everything to do with the policies.
Starting point is 00:20:48 She campaigned on you paying more taxes. Oh, wait a minute, Gary. She said middle class tax cut. It's only the rich. Are you kidding? Come on. Who are you trying to kid? Stop.
Starting point is 00:21:08 They campaigned on higher taxes and bigger government. That's what they campaigned on. And they lost. and they had Bernie Sanders to come out and say why they lost. Oh, the middle class. And I'm thinking to myself, Bernie Sanders, he's a Marxist. You know you're in trouble when you have Bernie Sanders out there ripping you to shreds. So here you have this campaign that spent over a billion dollars, some say up to 1.6 billion.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Pay the celebrities! Oprah! She's worth like $3 billion. She took a million bucks, Harpo, it's called. Yeah, that's Oprah backwards. I've lost respect for Oprah, not that she gives a crap about what I think. But anyway, the president to be, 10-point plan on education. He's going to secure the borders.
Starting point is 00:22:11 He's going to get rid of the criminals, for starters. Whoa, so far, so good. He's doing a bunch of hiring now. and I like so far no crazies and let me hear there's some crazies if any crazies show up I'll let you know so far so good we move on and we segue Bitcoin
Starting point is 00:22:48 last week broke out of an eight-month trading range and as we tell you when something breaks out of a long trading range it usually works pretty decent. Now, though it's Bitcoin, and as you know what we think of it, we don't know what the hell it is. We don't think it represents anything. There's no earnings. There's no sales.
Starting point is 00:23:08 There's nothing to back it up except somebody paying a higher price for it. Now, we're told there's all kinds of reasons for it and us. But then again, they came out with like 32,000 coins that are all at zero and left with a few. I don't know how many. Maybe there's a bunch out there, but I know 32,000 of them went. to zero. So we're just letting you know on a technical basis that was one hellacious eight-month trading range breakout. Guess what Bitcoin did today? It gapped up and I think it was up about 13-14% today. Just letting you know. Big
Starting point is 00:23:49 breakout eight-month range. We love big breakouts from ranges. Our problem is what the hell's a Bitcoin? Up next. We'll go further on that, and the rest of the market. This is the one only investors' edge. Starting point is 00:27:22 He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. So we start with the Bitcoin. If you remember, we had this six-month breakout in Nvidia back in January. And you know what happened then?
Starting point is 00:27:56 SMCI did one back then also. You know what happened then, really at a big move. Well, Bitcoin's on the move. And Micro Strategy, which is kind of sort of the high-act. Octane Thingma Bob, that was only up about 25% today. A big wow. I want to repeat. They have no earnings.
Starting point is 00:28:18 They have no sales. There is no company. I just want to repeat. We're not indicting it. We're not putting it down. We're not saying it's going lower. We are saying that in the past, it's just mirrored the NASDAQ. And the last NASDAQ bear market, it dropped like 70, 80% or something like that.
Starting point is 00:28:36 So we'll see what happens this time. All I can tell you that was one Helacious move and probably goes higher. Just letting you know. Next, off of the election, markets gap to the upside. We walked in that day on Wednesday morning and the Dow was up like 1,200.
Starting point is 00:29:00 So we just want to walk you through some areas of the market. We're not telling you to buy, sell, short, or cover. We're just telling you what they did and what they look like. I can safely say by telling you up front, everything is now extended to the upside. What do we mean by that? Well, there's a certain ebb and flow to markets. Two steps up, one step down in bullish phases. Two steps down, one step up in bearish phases.
Starting point is 00:29:28 And of course, I'm simplifying it. Well, we've had like six steps up, no steps back since the election. and on gaps to the upside, meaning we were up 1,200 points overnight. And very simply, this is what the market is seeing. Listen carefully. You had one candidate that 100% certainty the Trump tax cuts would expire. Now, I do not believe they're going to expire. I believe they're going to keep them why they have the House, Senate,
Starting point is 00:30:10 and the White House. On top of that, the president to be is calling for other tax cuts. We've heard a myriad of them, and we don't know which ones they're going to do, where they're going to do any. But are you ready? Here's some of the list. In case you don't know, you never paid taxes on Social Security until the late 90s. You never paid taxes on them.
Starting point is 00:30:36 We are now paying taxes on Social Security. You get a check. You pay taxes at the end of the year. Trump wants to take away the taxes on Social Security. He's also called for taking away taxes on tips. I have a big problem with that. And you know what's simple, right? You really just all you have to think it through, right?
Starting point is 00:31:02 What do you think all the waiters and waitresses are going to want now? No salary, just tips. there'll be an adjustment to that. Owners of restaurants will start calling their salaries tips. Oh, yeah. And there will be no way to figure that out. That's a big problem. They do call me Mr. Logic, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 00:31:35 That's an issue. I think he also mentioned something about police and firemen and women? I think he said something about that. Not paying taxes? Interesting. And of course, the Marxist socialist, how are you going to pay for them?
Starting point is 00:31:57 How are you going to pay for them? Well, they keep forgetting it's their earning money. It's not the government's money. And now there's all this talk. By the way, I don't remember all those other proposals on taxes, but there are a few others about lowering taxes for certain groups of people. people. So you had polar opposites. There's also the business climate. You have this administration that stopped mergers and acquisitions. I don't think you're going to see a lot of that going forward. So I think the complexion and the perception has changed and that's what's fueling the gap to the upside and the furtherance. Because now companies will feel better potentially about hiring, expanding,
Starting point is 00:32:57 and the like. And you have to remember the other party equation. I know Harris was out there trying to go to the middle, made herself up with her handlers to be everything she wasn't. You know, she's been an extreme leftist her whole life. All of a sudden she's going to the middle and she's going to do this, that, and the other thing, did we really believe she would? So we believe the perception has changed and the complexion has changed.
Starting point is 00:33:28 How long it lasts, how far it goes, I do not know. All we can tell you is all these areas. Let's start number one. The financials. There's an ETF, the XLF. That's the financial select. It gapped up huge on Wednesday. Sat for a couple of days edged above today.
Starting point is 00:33:51 The regional banks, same thing. The banks, KBE, it's a bank index. same thing. The problem here, how do you buy in what is known as the trees? We've had an outlier move, not done. How about the X, L-Y, which is discretionary, and a part of that is the Teslas of the world and the like. Well, I can tell you, from the day of the close, not the gap, it's gone from 202 to 219. 8% in four days? How do you go after that now? 8% in four days? The financials, as I said, there'll be less.
Starting point is 00:34:45 How about software? IGV closed at 94. It's 103 in change. Last I looked, that's almost 10% in four days. and I can go through a myriad of other things up anywhere between, let's call it four and ten, in four days. So I've been getting all kinds of emails, are you comfortable doing any buying right here? I got to tell you, I'm not comfortable any day doing anything, but guess what? Especially after such a move. But momentum, sometimes momentum. And as much as the Bitcoin went up today, it's up in the aftermarket. As much as Tesla was again up today, $29, it's up another three bucks as I speak to you in the aftermarket.
Starting point is 00:35:46 We're in one of those outlier moments, ones that don't happen very often because events. And of course, an election is most definitely an event. well that stick overnight beats the hell out of me we're just letting you know that dang we've had one heck of a move in these what we would call trump areas crypto bitcoin which by the way they're big backing from trump and his people even though i still don't know what it is Even though earnings and sales are now single digits and valuations are in the trees. And these other areas, of course, because everything I've already said. And that's the story. Interesting enough, the Dow was up 300 today.
Starting point is 00:36:51 The NASDAQ was flat. NASDAQ 100 was down. The S&P was only up five. What happened today? What's weak? Big Tech. Apple down three. Broadcom 5, Amazon buck and a half, Facebook 6,
Starting point is 00:37:09 Nvidia 2, Qualcomm 3, semiconductors, down 134. Big drop, mainline semiconductors. So not everything's all cozy. Gold, big down day today. And full disclosure, I sold my gold today. I was down to a small position. Took the profit. Why?
Starting point is 00:37:41 The dollar strong gold's coming down. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Up next, what else we got fee on the markets? I'm Gary. This is the one only investors' edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions

Starting point is 00:42:04 that's a lowly team. But the best to all the veterans out there, you know, I've done a little work with a company called Building Homes for Heroes and went to a couple events. And I got to tell you something. This is an
Starting point is 00:42:24 interesting. The last one I went to was a bowling, it was like a bowling charitable event. And I met a couple of men. One didn't have an eye. One didn't have an arm and a leg.

Starting point is 00:44:20 and I got hitting the side, and I had a welt on my side for like two weeks, and I was like a baby. I was in the line of fire of a paintball gun. these people go into line of fire of the real stuff as well as mines and bombs and you name it. Not a complaint out of these men's mouths. Amazing. Really is. Really is.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Just something to think about on Veterans Day. I think they're forgotten much too often. and forgotten about and what they've done. That's why I loathe some of these student jackasses. But I guess that's what makes the world go around. Anyway, so do you call it happy veterans?
