Starting point is 00:00:30 it all tastes like. Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum. Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host. A thanks for being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening.
Starting point is 00:00:52 It's Monday. It's August 29th. It's 2022. Hope you had a great weekend. We are here to talk about you and everything that affects you. And unfortunately, there's more and more people. and I use that word lightly that affect you. And we'll discuss that a little bit more because something else happened today.
Starting point is 00:01:14 That's sticking in my craw. But again, hoping you had a good weekend. Before we get going, in case you did not know, this is serious talk about you, your money, the markets, the economy, your job, with a little comedy inject it every now and then, but I must tell you, we don't inject as much comment. in right now because it is nothing comedic about markets that are tanking and affecting you and your wealth. We will take this show posted at gary k.com after it's over and done. We'll also post it on
Starting point is 00:01:54 our Twitter feed. You can follow me on Twitter and you should by going to Twitter and putting my name in or pressing the button at garyk.com. You can email me. All you got to do is be nice. Do you know why? because we're nice. No, really. If we had friends, they would tell you. We're very nice here. We're nice to everybody. We're respectful to everybody,
Starting point is 00:02:21 except if you're a politician, a central banker, or a coach, or an owner of one of my sports teams that are doing very bad, which means everything nicks. Giants have been very bad, but I must tell you they won some Super Bowls. and I still have my 18-1 shirt from when they beat New England when New England was 18 and O. I wear it quite often.
Starting point is 00:02:53 It seems we've been saying the words, you need to listen carefully, a lot more over the last year. This is another one of those days. As we have told you since Christmas of, well, it really started with Ben Bernanke in a big way, but he was a piker. as we told you since Christmas of 2018, we were worried about a select few people taking over the markets. And we were laughed at. We were made fun of. We were ignored. No way.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Nobody's bigger than the markets. Markets 40 trillion bucks, if not more. And you know how they took over markets. Just printed money and bought into the markets interfering with price and yield. And we told you how this is going to end badly. We don't know when. And we outlined it for you. By the way, we're going to get to the point here.
Starting point is 00:04:13 We know we're repeating ourselves. And as you know, we went through bubbles up the wazoo. And people were crushed. The Reddit crowd was crushed. The Reddit crowd was just crushed again with bed, bed, bath, and beyond. Which, by the way, was up 20% today. Have fun. and we have warned you about these central bankers, they really think they're omnipotent, they believe they're God.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And I say that, not sarcastically, not with hyperbole, we mean it. It takes somebody with a God complex to print $9 trillion into a market that they don't have to take any risk on. Just remember, when you and I invest when we trade, we are taking on risk. They're not. They're just out of thin air. So we got the bubbles popping. We got the bare market. We got the bare market rally.
Starting point is 00:05:11 We got them falling way behind the markets, creating inflation, screwing the savers, creating bubbles that have popped, destroying wealth, and getting so far behind that they had to change the stance, dragging, dragged and kicking, because they don't want to do it, and they were doing it slow, and they were catching up to markets, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow. To the point where now the yield on the two-year is 3.4, and they're still at 2.3. So they've got plenty to catch up on. And, you know, we talk Jay Powell, Jay Powell, Jay Powell, but there's more than one person as central bankers. And before I get into the next part, I have to say, again, nothing personal.
Starting point is 00:05:59 I haven't met any of these people. I'm sure they're sweethearts. I'm sure they're good mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers. husbands and wives. And do I think they mean bad? Well, after the insider trading scandal that not one person got in trouble, including Jay Powell, not so sure about that, greedy MFs. I know you know that a few of the central bankers resigned because of insider trading scandal that you and I would go to jail for. Did you know that? And Jay Powell was included in this. Did you know that? And then they hired some outside friend of Powell to come back and say, oh, they didn't do anything wrong, but we know they did wrong. But I digress. Because I don't know who Neil Cash Carey is. I've never met him. I know he was with the New York Fed. He had something to do with this, that, and the other thing. You can look him up. His first name is spelled N-E-E-L. His last name is K-A-S-H-K-A-R-I.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Again, nothing personal, but he's one of these people that has controlled markets into the ground. he's one of those people that has been 100% wrong on everything he's one of those people that does not shut up he's one of those people that says stupid things and has done stupid things
Starting point is 00:07:33 he's one of those people that is a control freak with you and your money and the markets he's one of those people that think he's an absolute genius because he's on the central bank and he was the head of the New York Fed and now he's one of those people and I've said to you this in the past.
Starting point is 00:07:53 You know how all this talk, oh, this person should be fired, that person should be fired. Oh, look how what that person said, fire them. We're not like that. We're not into that. We like people, except when they are in a position of power that will affect the masses. We want Joe Biden out as president. We want the Donald Trump out as president. We don't want Donald Trump to run again as president.
Starting point is 00:08:28 We don't want Joe Biden to run as president. We're hoping somebody shows up that brings in a semblance of order. You know, balance budgets, talks about term limits, no corruption and insider trading from the people in D.C. You know, the logical stuff. And we've had nobody to show it. So we have to hold these people to account, including Neil Cash Carey. And why am I pissed off today? because he wants you to lose money.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Yeah, you. Every one of you that are listening to this show right now, all eight of you, okay, we've gotten very popular as about 11 now. Actually, we have plenty more than that, but you know, I like making fun. Neil Cash Carey is hoping you lose your ass in the markets.
Starting point is 00:09:23 He's one of the central bankers of this country. You know what their mandate is? price stability. He wants you to lose your ass in the markets. How do I know? He said it. One of the few people that are deemed central bankers in this country, let me repeat and sorry for the language,
Starting point is 00:09:49 but sometimes you have to make an impact, want you to lose your ass in the markets. He wants them to go lower. He wants them to go much lower He doesn't care about you You're nobody Neil Cash Carrey should be fired Immediately from his job but won't be
Starting point is 00:10:15 These people are lifers And if he's listening Nothing personal And you know we really don't do interviews anymore In the show we are calling up the Central Bank To bring Neil Cash Carrey on this show I am sure he's going to not They're going to say no because I'm going to tell him up
Starting point is 00:10:32 the questions I would be asking and how I will rip them to smithereens so he won't come on. We'll explain in a minute how sick and twisted this person is when it comes to his job. Nothing personal. That's up next as well as the market wrap. This is the one only Investor's Edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jay Goodman, host of Beyond the Script. podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CBS pharmacist Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal.
Starting point is 00:12:59 A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like I get a stomach ache every time that I eat. And it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just, I have a stomach kick every day. Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy. And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with. So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication.
Starting point is 00:13:25 And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change. Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script. a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeartRadio. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. Enjoying a healthy dinner that tastes great means eating out at a pricey restaurant, right? Wrong. Healthy Choice Simply steamers are delicious and healthy. The tray-and-tray steam technology delivers crisp veggies and tender protein and tasty selections,
Starting point is 00:14:04 like Healthy Choice Simply Steamers grilled chicken and broccoli alfredo. It's a satisfying meal with 28 grams of protein and nothing artificial. Healthy choice simply steamers. What having it all tastes like. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge.
Starting point is 00:14:31 The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. Are you ready? All of my peeps out there. Every one of you that owns stock has a 401K should be sending emails and letters to our central bank to have this man fired.
Starting point is 00:15:19 And by the way, I'd be doing him a favor because you'll probably get a high paying job at a college to teach his socialism at a college that charges too much tuition. This is what this man unbelievably said in an interview. I am delighted by the market's reaction to Jackson Hole. You know what the market's reaction was, right? The Dow dropped a thousand points on Friday. He went on to say,
Starting point is 00:15:54 I was not thrilled to see the stock market rally following our most recent federal open market committee meeting. So let me repeat. One of the few central bankers of this country said, I am delighted by the market's reaction to Jackson Hole. He wants you to lose your ass. He was delighted with a thousand point Dow drop on Friday. I was not thrilled to see the market rally following
Starting point is 00:16:28 on most recent Federal Open Market Committee meeting. He doesn't want you to make any money. Do I need to go further? Every one of you should contact whoever runs this joint, this nightmare is joint, and have him removed. and any other central banker that thinks that way? Well, every other central banker should immediately,
Starting point is 00:17:05 immediately come out and say we completely disagree with that statement. And if they don't get rid of their asses also. And this is what we're dealing with. This is what we warned you about. Do you know why he's saying this? On top of not giving a crap about your wallet? Just covering their asses. I'm saying asses a lot, right?
Starting point is 00:17:30 I'm going to, I'll back away from that. They're covering their butts. Because as I told you, they're the ones that lit the fuse on the inflation. And they're the ones that need to get rid of the inflation with the opposite of what they did to light the fuse on inflation. Got it? So I'm incensed. I'm incensed. You should be incensed.
Starting point is 00:18:10 I am 100% sure he's going to walk it back. he should be fired. You know how people are, right? The first thing they say, the first thing is what they believe. Walking it back is... You know what I love when somebody says something racist and gets caught on it
Starting point is 00:18:30 and then says, oh, but... Who's that guy who wore blackface? The governor was a Virginia? And he actually kept his job, which is quite amazing. Guess who he is? He's a racist.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Oh, but I'm not. I apologize. Kiss mine. And it goes for any of that. So we're just letting you know you have one of the main central bankers is wishing for you to lose a lot of money. And was, I'm quoting him. I am delighted by the market's reaction to Jackson Hole. I am delighted with a thousand point drop in the Dow.
Starting point is 00:19:21 I'm delighted that you lost 3.5% of your money in one day. I'm delighted. He went on to say, I know how serious we are about lowering inflation. I believe the markets were a misinterpreting that at the last FOC MC meeting. In other words, they really wanted markets to go down. Instead, markets went up. Darn. And then he goes on to say, people now understand how serious we are about getting inflation back to 2%.
Starting point is 00:20:09 So someone needs to ask them, would you be happy, if the Dow dropped 10,000 points? Is there a number that you would like? Because you know what happened today? The market was down, Dow was down 300, and then it went to positive. And then when his words came out, the market tanked back down.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Why? Duh. Because these control freaks have done an unbelievable job of creating massive bubbles and distortions and dislocations. And now they must roll it back. And they think by you losing your butts, notice I changed the word, that will do the trick. They're insane.
Starting point is 00:21:07 They're insane. They're lunatics. And they're the most powerful people on this earth. Now wanting to, the stock market, our stock market, to croak. and one of them was delighted to see the market drop a thousand points in a day. And you know I had a double check on this. I had a double check. I had a confirm.
Starting point is 00:21:47 So the market wrap where the Dow went positive is brought to you by Investment DashModels.com. That's Jim Burbank, one of the great market timers. No gray areas with the man you're either in or out of the market with his proprietary indicators. Go check it out. investment dash models.com Dowdown 184 S&P 27 NASDAQ was weak all day
Starting point is 00:22:05 124 and 120 to downside transports 147 Semiconductor's 53 Advanced declines Not good New highs started picking up Excuse me new lows picking up New highs
Starting point is 00:22:16 About the only thing I saw Was some oils Oil prices are up almost four bucks today Yields are up markedly also And you know what we think of oil prices And yields going up Not good I should take no joy in this.
Starting point is 00:22:49 But I'm afraid my quote that the worst possible people are still running the joint is still in effect. Up next, more in these markets. This is the one only investors ed. Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter.

A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like I get a stomach ache every time that I eat, and it just becomes like a lifestyle where,
Starting point is 00:23:57 oh, yeah, you know, I just have a stomachache every day. Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy. And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with. So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change.

On-Dek does not lend in North Dakota all loans and amounts subject to lender approval. You're listening to... America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy.
Starting point is 00:25:48 With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. Hey, yo. Serenity now. Just remember. Everything I say is for me. My family, you, and your family.
Starting point is 00:26:23 We have no other agenda or ulterior motive. the problem remains government and central banks have taken over in ways never imagined never imagined and when i use government both sides of the aisle both just remember when the left is in power the right hates spending when the right is in power the left hates spending they're just both full of crap when both are in power they both spend because that is their power the more they can spend
Starting point is 00:27:12 the better it is for them and they don't care none of them we have told you they curse each other out in front of the camera they've got to be laughing their butts off notice I change the word again behind the camera.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Now nearing $31 trillion of money that they were not supposed to spend over and above the trillions we spend them. Tells us so. And now you have the most powerful people on Earth delighted that the Dow dropped a thousand points on Friday.
Starting point is 00:27:56 But again, he will be rolling it back within a day. No doubt. Oh, I meant. I only meant, oh, I only meant, I'm sorry if we conveyed it the wrong way, it came out the wrong way. Just like the racist. I'm sorry, we have a swastick or is a tattoo. I really didn't mean it.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I'm actually making fun of the Nazis. That's not a good comparison, is it? You get my point. Anyway, let's move forward. I believe tonight Serena Williams is playing in the first round of the U.S. Open and I believe she has said that it's her final tournament major.
Starting point is 00:28:51 I'm not sure if she walked it back or not, but in case she is, supposedly they're going to have some sort of ceremony for her tonight no matter what, whether she wins or not. I will state for the record that, and I know she's had a couple of moments that were not so great. I mean, we've all had bad moments, right?
Starting point is 00:29:12 But I think 99% of her has been good moments. She's on my Mount Rushmore of athletes. Notice I didn't say women or men of athletes. And I wish her well and greatness going forward. I've never met her, but I was within 15 feet of her of Wimbledon one time. That's it. And I know she's doing a lot with business and all kinds that she's already set up some things. And in case you don't know, how many people, this is why Federer is so great, how many people have come and gone in the time that they've started playing tennis?
Starting point is 00:30:04 A bazillion? Do you know what it takes to stay at that level for so many years? It's arduous. The mental capacity you have to have year after year after year after year is unbelievable. I mean, Federal should have won Wimbledon like three years ago. He was serving for the match against Djokovic.
Starting point is 00:30:33 And I believe Serena was like four or five times and the finals are close and didn't win at the end. But I think she still has like 23 minutes. majors, which is insane. So anyway, just letting you know how we feel about that. Mount Rushmore. And I know this four on Mount Rushmore, right? I'm a 10 Mount Rushmore people, because I think there's 10 that really stand out over and above everybody else. I think it's about 10. What else are we watching? Well, I got to bring it back to oil prices. Not good. we told you in the last week or so that the price of oil looked like it was turning up and oil stocks broke back above the 50 day well let's be watching them
Starting point is 00:31:29 what's our tagline on oil prices nothing good happens if they go higher you don't need me to tell you that hopefully neil cash carry doesn't come out and say we'd be delighted if oil oil prices go to 200 bucks. That happened today. 10-year yield up to 311, 3.11 today. That's not good news. Why? That's your mortgage rates. And a big part of the wealth effect that spurred on the economy was was housing prices, which are now in reverse. And your You know we're pretty good at predicting these things. We think, especially in the bubbled up areas, they will Eiffel Tower it. That last big leg up, going to go right back where it started.
Starting point is 00:32:33 And then we'll see from there. As I have told you, this is how we do it. We go on Realtor.com, Zillow.com, Trulia, and a few others. And you can just see it in real time. You put in any city. Some have maps with little big red dots in the maps that show you how many. And then you can put in newest and see how many are showing up in what price. And the amount of inventory, I don't care what government reports or anybody else.
Starting point is 00:33:04 This is real time, real world. Craploads of inventory coming on board, most everywhere. Not most, everywhere I've looked. Main areas. On tap of that, days to sell get more and more elongated. I think that's the right word. And a lot of arrows down. You know what that is.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Price coming down by the sellers. Because they couldn't move them. And I will tell you because I know the central market, Central Florida market intimately, a lot of sellers are still in fantasy land. They think they're still in the bubble. And we're not. And I'm still seeing some homes trying to go for 300 a square foot. They won't go for 200 a square foot.
Starting point is 00:34:02 That's how far away they are in some areas. Of course, if you're on the water, a golf course and things, you'll get better. That's the 10-year yield. So you've got the affordability on the buying side. and affordability on mortgage payments, that I believe are up 95% from the low. Another thing we're watching, and not a good day today for that either.
Starting point is 00:34:38 And that's really, as we have told you, what you really need to watch closest. That's what we have told you need to be watched closest. Yields on the 10-year and oil prices. And there are the commodities, but oils, the end-all-be-all, It's the Grand Poo Bots, the head honcho top dog big cheese. Of course, we watch everything else.
Starting point is 00:35:04 But that's the biggie. So not a good day for that. Decent day for oil stocks, but not a lot else. And again, market was trying to reverse until them words came out of a man in power saying, we're delighted, or he's delighted, that the Dow dropped a thousand points. I'll report to you when he rolls it back.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Because I got to, by the way, it's hit Bloomberg. It's on Bloomberg in other areas. I got to think there's going to be some sort of mea culpa pretty quickly. Because it's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. Up next, this, that, and the other thing, and whatever else. This is the one only investors edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jay Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacist to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter.

Starting point is 00:38:55 Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Action! Investors Edge. With Gary Culpa. What up! The Mets are up three games with 33 to go, and they have the next, a pretty easy schedule going forward, but you still got to win the game.
Starting point is 00:39:33 games and man those Atlanta Braves are as hot as hot can be. Mets would have been already clinched if Atlanta didn't get so hot. My Fantasy Football League draft is the day after Labor Day. By the way, next Monday we are off. I pick seventh. I'm hoping for Najee Harris at number seven in my league. I think I'm 50-50 to get them. and I'm hoping for Mixen coming back,
Starting point is 00:40:07 but my league loves running back, so we'll see how that goes. I may have to take a wide receiver in the first round, which I don't like doing. Coal stocks, oil stocks, not all, coal and oil, managed care,
Starting point is 00:40:35 these are HMOs, garbage collectors, waste management, Solars have the relative strength right now. I didn't say they were going big. I'm saying they have the relative strength right now. Agriculture slash fertilizers. Steel.
Starting point is 00:41:07 Better. There's your relative strength. It's a smattering of a few other things. But that's the main. of importance. I'm going to give you out three numbers. The Dow, 32,000, 34. We closed at 32,99.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Oh, I'm going to take that back. 32,077. That's the 50-day moving average on the Dow. You want that to hold. You can fall below it a little bit, and futs around and come back up. You really want that to hold, but more importantly, the S&P 500. 4,03.
Starting point is 00:42:19 The S&P closed at 4,030. You really want that to hold. The NASDAQ, 11970, you closed at 12,017. You really want that to hold. The NASDAQ 100, 12457. You close the 12484.84. You really want that to hold. If those numbers do not hold,
Starting point is 00:43:12 and the big institutions are in recognition of it, It will invite those institutions to sell more. And why would they sell more on a fundamental basis? If oil prices keep going up and the 10-year yield keeps going up, that is the cost of everything, almost everything going up. That eats into profits. If it eats into profits, it eats into perception. If it eats into perception, it eats into stock price performance.
Starting point is 00:43:53 1 plus 1 equals 2. Why do we use the 50-day moving average? Because it is. Listen carefully. The area. The place. We are above it, potential good. Below it, only potential bad.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Above it, only potential good. Below it, only potential bad. We use the word potential because you can, can go below it and then sit around, sit around, everything, okay, and then turn back up. You can go above it and then sit around, sit around, turn right back down. Remember, we broke above the 50-day moving average. We said, okay, let's see where it goes. And then, of course, we just topped out, rolled over, got Fridays confirmation, bad confirmation, and not a great day to day. And may I state for the record the advanced declines today? Pitiful. It's what we don't want to see.
Starting point is 00:44:58 New Yearly Lows, now up to 331, a pickup, don't want to see. That means more and more names are breaking into New Yearly Lows, even though the indices aren't, because they're held up by a select few names, you know which ones. So nothing great to report today. I outlined for you where the relative strength is. Not so sure those areas are going to lead us to the promised land, and I'm not so sure it's good news that oil stock. have the relative strength because that's why that's because oil prices are heading a little bit
Starting point is 00:45:39 on the north side now and I will tell you if oil prices just finish right here for the next two weeks in two weeks expect a nice little 20-30 cent bump from what we're paying right now which is way below the recent highs moving targets ladies and gentlemen I apologize I was using for that, using the A word a few times, but I got to tell you, I am beside myself and frustrated that these people are the most powerful people on Earth, and they are opponents. They are our opponents, working against us, and now echoing it with their words. Stunning. Absolutely stunning.
