Starting point is 00:00:49 your host. Thanks for being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024. This is a little bit of the cold and fluidition. As I have gone from Florida, New York, back to Florida, back to New York, and may I state for the record, it is freaking cold up in the northeast. I don't know how anybody lives there all the time. In case you don't know, this is serious talk on everything that affects you. We'll do markets, I promise. We'll do the election.
Starting point is 00:01:26 the upcoming change of leadership, the economy, your job, your industry, all the things that matter, with no bias, no agenda, no ulterior motive. We have only one goal here, ladies and gentlemen, that's we the people, but that's for a little bit later. Adam, thanks for doing the show yesterday. As you know, pretty much every weekend, I take the Delta flight around 6 to 7 o'clock out of Orlando to LaGuardia, go to my apartment and then spend the weekend with my parents. For Thanksgiving, went up on Wednesday, spent the day with my parents. Thanksgiving on Thursday. And my mom in particular, well, one's 93, one's 91.
Starting point is 00:02:32 My mom in particular was not doing very well. And I said to my brother, I don't think she has weeks. This was Thursday. I spent the day watching, what do we watch? I think probably the Maltese Falcon for the 15th time. I think that could have been. Watched a little football and just hung with my mom and my dad. At 7 a.m. Friday morning, I got a call from my brother.
Starting point is 00:03:04 I saw the word Steve on my phone, and I absolutely knew. My mother passed away at the age of 91, quietly, calmly, in her sleep. After this occurred, I had left. Their apartment around 7 p.m. At 8 p.m., the living tells me that out of nowhere, my mom started saying, Mommy, mommy, mommy. She wasn't even talking a lot, my mom at the time, very sparsely. I'm not a big believer in the after.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I may have to start. My mom was the prototypical great mom. Up early, made the breakfast, sent us to school, waited for us when we got home, cooked dinner, made sure we do our homework, taught us good lessons, and of course we didn't have social media back then. in fact TV was channel 4-710 Canal Bentez in Miami, Florida that's how I watch Lucha Libre and Channel 51
Starting point is 00:04:45 This is Miami by the way Which was we used to watch speed racer in some cartoons That's all we had We had the Encyclopedia Britannica Pretty much one year late For our Google That's why I'm I'm very often sick to my stomach when I see the youngans complain about life these days.
Starting point is 00:05:09 They have no idea how good they have it. Anyway, she was a magnificent mom, magnificent, made friends easily. I will tell you, there's cliches out there about, oh, they never said a bad word about somebody else. but she never said a bad word about anybody else. And nobody ever said a bad word about her. She was loved. And she was always willing to give a helping hand. They moved up back to the northeast.
Starting point is 00:05:55 They have to being in Florida for a while. And they just enjoyed themselves. Traveled a lot. Went to Broadway shows all the time. before my mom went downhill, I took it to the Lion King. And this was about five months ago. And I was amazed. I don't know what happened.
Starting point is 00:06:20 I didn't call anybody. I didn't ask anything. They treated her like a queen at the show. They couldn't do enough for her. About, I don't know. Three months ago, she had a blood clot. My brother saved her life. They did emergency surgery.
Starting point is 00:06:44 She came out of it. And she was okay. But then about a month later, downhill. The last time I saw her was about two weeks ago. I had taken my son Eric on vacation. And the next time I saw her was on Thanksgiving Day and boy, oh boy. In that period of time, and I knew it. There would have been a thousand people at the service this weekend.
Starting point is 00:07:17 But most of her friends and relatives had passed. When you live to 91, most people are gone. But people came from as far as Arizona, Texas, Florida, Pittsburgh, all over they came. but pay respects. My brother, whoever I have told you, has been a hero because he lives up there, I don't. Did a tremendous
Starting point is 00:07:51 speech. I think mine was okay. And I must tell you, it did not hit me big until in 25-degree weather they were lowering the pine casket. And I'm thinking to myself, my mother, that's where she's going to be,
Starting point is 00:08:24 six feet down in the ground. And the rabbi saw what I was thinking and what I was feeling and took me on the side and explained body and soul. Now we have to take care of our father. father's 93 and he's not in great shape but he's very much with it complains all the time
Starting point is 00:09:00 whines about the giants and the Knicks well the Knicks better though mostly the giants not a Trump fan in fact as he was relaying to me all the things he wanted me to say because he could not come to the service he stopped and in between says to me
Starting point is 00:09:19 did you see who Trump picked for defense Ben's secretary, but he's doing good. My brother's up there. I'll be up there. But I must tell you, I'm numb. That's the best way I can put it. It was expected, but I'm numb. You knew it was getting close, but I'm numb.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I've been telling everybody we are heartbroken, but relieved at the same time. I expected people to be pissed off about me saying, relieved. Every person said, we understand. Because most people have gone through what we have been going through as your parents age. I keep being told she's in a better place. That's not helping me out as of yet. We have received, and this is not an exaggeration, 3,000 to 4,000 emails and messages from, I guess, our television audience, our radio audience, our little social media audience. And I can't begin to tell you how gratified we are that anybody would take the time out of their day to email condolences. for my mother

Starting point is 00:12:38 Hello, hello, I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM. I recently sat down with IBM's chairman and CEO, Arvin Krishna. And I asked him, how can companies use AI to its fullest potential to create smarter business? My one advice to that, pick areas you can scale. Don't pick the shiny little toys on the side.
Starting point is 00:13:01 For example. If anybody has more than 10% of what they had for customer service 10 years ago, they're already five years behind it. If anybody is not using AI to make their developers who write software 30% more productive today, with the goal of being 70% more productive. Yeah. Wow. So we are not asking our clients to be the first experiment on it.
Starting point is 00:13:30 We say you can leverage what we did. We're happy to bring out all our learnings, including what needs to change in the process, because the biggest change is not technology, is getting people to accept that there's a different way to do things. To listen to the full conversation, visit IBM.com slash smart talks. Hi, I'm Dr. J. Goodman, host of Beyond the Script,
Starting point is 00:14:00 the podcast where I sit down with pharmacist to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal. A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like I get a stomach ache every time that I eat, and it just becomes like a lifestyle where, oh, yeah, you know, I just have a stomachache every day. I'm constantly feeling like gassy.
Starting point is 00:14:35 And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut, you should be living with. So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change. Hear the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeart Radio. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. Cash flow crunch.

All loans and amount subject to lender approval. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge.
Starting point is 00:15:49 The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. One segment on a radio show does not do my mother justice. one segment would not do it justice, but we have to move on. We have to talk about the things that this show is about. Going forward, we'll talk a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:16:41 I just want to repeat again, thank you. People I have never met, people I will never meet, people I will never speak to, because they listen to this show or watch me on TV stop what they were doing to email me and message me
Starting point is 00:17:10 it's going to take me a few days to answer each and every one of them I will answer each and every one of them we are gratified that you would think of us and we will not soon forget that what do we want to do next? The markets.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Yeah. Okay. So just a few things of note that are of import. Number one. The NASDAQ, look how we have to segue, huh? The NASDAQ edges into new high ground. The NASDAQ 100 edges into new high ground. Apple.
Starting point is 00:18:16 breaks out of range. Facebook meta breaks out of range. Oh, looky. Two mega caps. Amazon, which we lost money on recently, bounces back with a fervor. Another big name.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Netflix, which broke out at 780, is over 900 now. Catch of the drift? Even weakness of Microsoft may be coming around. Maybe. And even though advanced declines today were 16 up, 15 up 26 down on the NASDAQ, that's not good. NASDAQ was up 76, NASDAQ 100 up 64. Why?
Starting point is 00:19:13 The influence of some of these big names. Does it last? I don't know. We're just letting you know. market continues to act fine off of the election with some warts not everything's working
Starting point is 00:19:30 I can tell you the transports today were down 355 very bad day Federal Express they trash today and some of those others so we just want to differentiate but when all is said and done
Starting point is 00:19:48 leading stocks are leading and we'll see if it continues if I was to say one negative and it's something to stick out sentiment very frothy very omnipotent nothing can go wrong we're seeing
Starting point is 00:20:10 a lot of no sales stocks go crazy I've seen some $2 stocks go to 10 that have no sales because the soup de jour recently has been
Starting point is 00:20:30 nuclear rockets robotaxies and the like we tell you be careful we know as a fact as a fact
Starting point is 00:20:45 the word eventually the word ultimately we know as a fact of history that if companies continue to have no sales, once the little mania goes away, they will go back to where they came from. I notice some no say, and we do a little legwork. I notice some no sales companies that have been trading for 15 years and still have no sales going crazy to the upside because, oh, it's nuclear time.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Oh, it's rocket ship time. Again, we never tell you what to do. It's your money. We just tell you, please know what you are getting into. No valuations. Are you paying a billion a half dollars for a company with no sales? How do you know it's a billion a half? Shares times price.
Starting point is 00:22:01 That's what you're paying. Without naming the name, there's a stock that's very strong in the market right now that has 2.6 billion in revenue, but a $162 billion market cap. You're paying $162 billion, shares times price, for something with $2 billion revenues, though growing okay, and just started making some. decent money. Stock was strong again today. What do we tell you when the market gets on to themes? It'll roll with the themes until we call it the wake-up call. Oh, oops. How much revenue does this company have? What's the market cap? You remember Beyond Meat and so many others. So we're just
Starting point is 00:23:08 saying to you, be careful. We're in one of those moments. I saw one of those moments. I saw one today, and I'm not making this up, a stock that just came public at $5 recently. And before today, we're trading at 6.
Starting point is 00:23:30 A Chinese company that signed something with Nvidia that made, and it wasn't even anything of a contract, it went from 6 to 31 today. But closed at 16. So if you owned it at 6, God bless.
Starting point is 00:23:50 If you own a 31, you're already into the Maylocks. So just be careful. Have a good feel for what you're into. And part of what we do here is when all heck breaks loose, make sure you know it. Up next, what else is going on in the market? I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's adjun. Hello, I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of Smart Talks with IBM. I recently spoke with IBM's new director of research, Jake M. Beta.
Starting point is 00:24:51 We discussed his vision for the future of quantum computing. At IBM research, what we always do is answer what is the future of computing, whether it's coming up with new algorithms, coming up with better AI, coming up with quantum, or coming up with just how do different accelerators go together. It's our DNA to answer the question of what is the future. Isn't it a perfect problem for IBM because you kind of need to, have a legacy of building stuff, building actual physical machines.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Yeah, it's why I came to IBM. I wanted the experience, the culture of building hard things that others have not done before. Where do you imagine we are in the timeline of this technology? There will come a point when it will mature. My cell phone is a mature technology at this point.
Starting point is 00:25:45 How far are we from that point? with quantum. By 2029, we'll build the first fault-tolerant quantum computer. That is one that can run a very, very large, large problem. To learn how IBM is building the future of computing, visit IBM.com slash quantum. Hi, I'm Dr. J. Starting point is 00:27:50 America is talking. Investors Edge. be pleased with that the crowd is just on his feet here he's the Cinderella boy with Gary Colbomb comes highly recommended you're gonna feel better if you talk to him and welcome once again to Investors Edge in the aftermarket salesforce.com in the Dow closed at 331 I have it at 349 even though they lowered their guidance that's pretty weird wow Marvell One of the only strong semis is up $8 in the aftermarket to 103. Octa, I believe that would be software, closed at 81.
Starting point is 00:28:51 It's now 97. Nice. So there's three names in the aftermarket. I was more interested in Salesforce.com. The fact that they lowered guidance and the stocks up, damn. that's pretty cool I'll have to read into it more when I have a few moments
Starting point is 00:29:16 now well the election which will have everything to do with things going forward oh let me do a few more things in the market the gold miners bounce today they've been very weak gold was only up a little bit though
Starting point is 00:29:40 Japan stock's starting to come on even though they have all kinds of problems there go read about what's going on in South Korea as the head of the joint wanted to put into martial law, go look up martial law, and then the people were going nuts, so he backed away from the martial law. That's interesting, South Korea. If South Korea can't get their act together, then North Korea? There is a supposed ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon,
Starting point is 00:30:16 but they're still knocking each other. The Hezbollah shot up Israel right after the ceasefire, so Israel said, go screw yourself. So they're kicking them in the teeth. As I mentioned, transport's very rough day. And I must tell you, the transports trade very weird right now, almost feast or famine. And you've got to be careful there. Financials mixed bag today opened up hot, didn't finish too well. economically sensitive stocks opened up week, finished okay, but mostly down, as we said,
Starting point is 00:30:50 advanced declines not good. Interest rates hanging in there four to quarter. They had a Fed head on TV today, and all I'm thinking to myself is, who gives a crap what they think? Gee, I'm going to lower Fed funds rate a quarter point. It's not going to do anything for your job. It's not going to create a job. It's not going to produce any wealth. If I was president, I would abolish these clowns.
Starting point is 00:31:21 We don't need them. The free market's done the great job. I want to repeat, the reason why inflation, the fuse was lit when they printed to $9 trillion and then Biden with his couple of trillion in debt. But they lit the fuse. The reason inflation's come down is because they stopped printing money and they tightened. They were the cause. most of it.
Starting point is 00:31:45 They are the nightmare and leave no doubt they will screw up again because they think they're omnipotent. They think they're geniuses. You should hear how they talk about themselves. People that sit behind the desk are am going to raise
Starting point is 00:32:00 the Fed funds rate a quarter points, half a point. I couldn't believe what I was watching. Next, applause for Donald Trump. And as you know, I've not given him too much applause. He put out a statement that should have been put out by Joe Biden on October 8,
Starting point is 00:32:25 2023. And basically, he stated, to Hamas, this is going to be hell to pay. While Joe Biden has kissed their asses and even negotiated with the terrorists behind the backs of Israel, known fact, President Trump is telling him, telling these sleazy animals that there's going to be hell to pay by the time he's president if you don't get with it. And soon. I do have one issue with it.
Starting point is 00:33:17 I was always a big believer in carry a big stick, but, you know, be a little bit on the quiet side. He's kind of being on the loud side. What if he doesn't have a big stick? stick. What exactly is he going to do? We're not sending soldiers into Gaza. We're not sending American soldiers.
Starting point is 00:33:39 What exactly are you going to do? That's my only question. But applause to him because these are a bunch of animals. They're a bunch of cowards. I can tell you the Israeli women would have beat their asses if they didn't have
Starting point is 00:33:56 weapons. They would have been cowering. So Trump talking tough. Which takes me to Hunter Biden. Everything I have told you for four years about this man has come to fruition. It's not just
Starting point is 00:34:20 the pardon. It's how many years back. He did not pardon Hunter Biden. He pardoned the Biden Incorporated, including himself. It was an influence peddling machine
Starting point is 00:34:37 where I believe was about $25 million were funneled to these people, making them wealthy beyond, and got away with it because of the media. This is who the man was and this who the man is. All the talk about everybody else being the slime, the scum, anti-democratic, that whole crap, they were talking about themselves. Just let you know. and by the way, as a father,
Starting point is 00:35:17 I get that part. I don't get the part of what he just did from Biden, Inc. And he's getting hit on both sides of the aisle. And by the way, they put it out while he's on his going on a trip to Africa. Not the dumbest move. That's who we've had for four years.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Open borders, on purpose, Massive debt, massive deficits, transitory inflation, and all that crap. And we dodged a bullet. Jury will still be out on Trump, but we dodged the bullet because Kamala Harris was three times as bad as Joe Biden. That's my take on that. And we'll keep watch on the soon-to-be President Trump. on what he does, how he does it, who it affects, how it affects. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
Starting point is 00:36:39 He remembers it's we the people, not we the government. I have decently good expectations of what's to come. I love what I hear from Elon and Vivek. Love what I hear. I have still not heard from them. They obviously don't realize I would be the most important cog in the wheel when it comes to getting government back to efficient, effective,
Starting point is 00:37:17 and balanced. I guess I am not famous enough, such as life. We'll continue to do what we're doing, And if I ever get the call, I will answer it. Because we have to get this government in line. Or else, what's my line been? We cannot continue on the trajectory we are going. So hopefully these two gentlemen get the job done.
Starting point is 00:37:54 I don't like what I've heard. I love what I have heard. We'll keep you informed as we move forward. But congratulations to Hunter Biden. You have been released. Up next, what else we got for you? This is the one of the only investors edge. Hello, I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM.

Starting point is 00:42:29 was offered stock in SpaceX, I think in a $100 billion market cap. I said no way. The last tranche looks like $350 billion. Nice one, Gary. I bring this up because I want to make sure you know. I've never met him. Never met him. I've only been the Tesla car twice. But I may have to buy one just because you've been hearing some very crappy things about Elon Musk. Very crappy things about Elon Musk. And you know why? Because he took away one of the avenues that the left was using to send out leftist messages. That was Twitter.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Once he took it over, he went from being Elon Musk to the devil. And the things they are saying about him, you would think. Oh, he's a Nazi, he's Hitler and all that crap. I just want to make sure you know. And by the way, he doesn't listen to the show. He won't even know what I'm saying. Doesn't know me.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Maybe he's seen me on TV. Starlink, his interlink, his interstate, When I flew back on Hawaiian Airlines, it was the best internet I've ever had on an airline over the Pacific. While I couldn't even get frickin' internet in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, he's also sent Starlink to the Ukrainian troops for free. And the Ukrainian people that have been bombed for free. SpaceX revolutionizing the space industry where rocket. come back to Earth and are usable, reusable. Think about that.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Besides Tesla, he's got some AI crap going. He's got some brain thing going. Who knows what's going to be a success or not? But what do we tell you here, some of our mantras, learn from the greats. Don't piss on them. I always tell people never piss on prosperity. Learn from it.
Starting point is 00:45:19 You know what book I'm reading right now? Go look up David Gaggins, G-O-G-G-I-N-S. Inspirational man. I think he's done like 50 marathons in 50 days or something like that. So just let you know. We've told you Warren Buffett's been made fun of before. Oh, he makes a buy the stock doesn't work. Oh, the guy's only worth $100 billion and is giving it all the way to charity.
Starting point is 00:45:49 What a great noble cause. Yet people make fun. So I just want to get it out to you. Don't listen to these clowns, these political hacks, these political clowns that are putting down Elon Musk. Think about this. His goal is to make government more efficient and more effective and more imbalance. And these hacks on MSNBC are ripping them to shreds. Oh, Donald Trump's BFF.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Oh, he's going to take advantage of things so to make himself wealthy. Well, he's already worth $300 billion. I want to make sure you know this. What we'll do here and always do here, we want to applaud greatness. We want to learn from greatness. We want to know greatness. I'm constantly studying the best people on Wall Street. I'm constantly studying the best people on Wall Street
Starting point is 00:47:00 and what they do right, not the ones that are doing wrong. You know how we talked about Kathy Wood here because we want to learn from people that lost a lot of money. But you know what? She's making good money now. She's still weighed down from three half years ago but I want to know what she's owning now that's doing it.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Do your homework on that, please, because I think there's a lot of Bitcoin going down. But you get my drift. So I just wanted to mention that up front on this day where I took a lot of time this past week to reflect. I think death does that. It makes you reflect. as you grow older. And we're going to continue to do our best here, put our best foot forward
Starting point is 00:48:10 every single day, just like my mother would want. Just like my mother always egged me on. Work hard, study hard, educate, inspire, integrity. That was my mom, and she will not be forgotten. My father's 93 now. We're keeping our fingers crossed. But to each and every one of you that took the time again, I have to repeat it. It meant everything. Made it a little bit easier, though hard. And we're realizing we're not alone because everybody's gone through what we've been going through.
Starting point is 00:49:32 it takes the time where you experience the things to realize that. So you have a great evening drive carefully. When you get home, do like we do, quite simple. Make sure you hug your family. Make sure you hug your children. They will feel better. You will feel better, I promise. Also, hug your mother.
