Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colbom, your host.
Starting point is 00:00:46 A thanks for being with us today. Glad you're here, ladies and gentlemen. Happy that you are listening. It is Thursday. It's August 24th. It's 2003. Hope you having a good day. Lots to cover is always serious talk about you and everything that affects you.
Starting point is 00:00:58 With a little comedy injected, but not a lot of comedy to come out of my mouth right now. because we have to be serious about a lot of things going on. I hope you are listening. We mean business here. Whether we're talking about markets, the economy, your jobs, unemployment, taxes, deficit spending, the corruption coming out of Washington, D.C., the lies coming out of their mouths,
Starting point is 00:01:18 their massive debt and deficits, as said. And that debate last night, none of them listened to me. None of them listened to Mr. Logic. So, we're going to do the market in a minute. A few minutes and it's not good. We'll be very terse. So I pose the question to each and every one of you. What were they up there on the dais for?
Starting point is 00:01:55 What was Nikki Haley and Chris Christie and the Sand? What were they up there for? Simple. To win the nomination of the Republican Party for the President of the United States. States. Who's leading? Ex-president Donald John Trump. How much is he leading by? Well, if you add up all the poll numbers of the people up there last night, it does not equal the number of Donald John Trump. What does it tell you that Donald John Trump has a wall? He's got a wall. He's got a defense. He's got a defense. of people that regardless of a laundry list of things out of his mouth,
Starting point is 00:02:50 like John McCain is not a hero, like Donald Trump would last two minutes in a hole like John McCain did, or saying about a woman bleeding in the face, or calling Elaine Chow Chow Chow, he's got a laundry list of crappy things he said. And I'm not talking While he kisses the ass Of Putin
Starting point is 00:03:18 And that other Yuts In North Korea Doesn't say bad things about them What else? Oh, that's right He has 91 felony counts against him By the way, we're not taking aside here With stating facts
Starting point is 00:03:36 He's got 91 felony counts against him don't you think they should address that last night? Nope. Why? Oh, we don't want to piss off his people. But if you don't piss off his people, if you don't affect them emotionally or factual, you have no chance.
Starting point is 00:04:06 So you're just up there BSing. And in those 91 counts, And these are just facts, ladies and gentlemen, just facts. I'm going to give you one that stands out for me. People who work for Trump and have testified under oath on it, quite a few of them have said that Donald Trump was trying to get fake electors a felony in Georgia. and then tried to was going to get the military if if there was if the fake electors were if it worked
Starting point is 00:04:51 and yet there were protests around the country which there would have been he would have sicked the military on the protesters they've testified to that now we're not taking sides with stating facts. These idiots, not one of them, tries to take down the guy who polls better than all of them put together with these facts that I've just stated to you. And there's a laundry list of other felony counts. And you can believe them or not. We're not trying to persuade you. We're trying to let you know how stupid these people are. Dumb, stupid politicians. That's why we can't stand any of them. There was one job last night cut into the lead of Trump's numbers.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Not Asa Hutchinson who's got like 0.0 polling. Vivek Wamswamy. He ain't gone anywhere. He's not going to win. I don't care about him. and he showed himself to be Eddie Haskell of Leave It to Beaver last night. The goal was to cut into Trump or you have no shot, and they gave him a freaking pass the whole time.
Starting point is 00:06:22 I think Nikki Haley said, yeah, he spent too much, too much deficits when he was president. Oh yeah, that's going to change people's minds. And then, once I got done with that, if it was me, the next thing I say is I look into the camera and say, I'm addressing all of you that love Donald John Trump. We're not telling you not to, whatever. Let me tell you what we're going to do the same,
Starting point is 00:06:49 and let me tell you what we're going to do differently. And we're going to keep taxes low, get the heck out of regulations, get out of your way. We'll have good regulations because there's certain things. Air traffic controllers. Yeah, you need some of that. Train conductors. We need some of that.
Starting point is 00:07:06 We don't want to blasts. trains into each other. But get out of the way. Education. We take the education department and look them straight in the eye. If you don't start teaching kids right again, math and English, you go out. The lapidavit dated neighborhoods, we'd be going in there and from the bottom up, every single one, go through everything we would do, and then we would differ like you're supposed to.
Starting point is 00:07:39 This is Donald John Trump. This is me. Not one of them wasted two hours on worldwide TV going after each other that have 1% or a half percent or 2%. I think DeSantis is in double digits. He didn't move the needle. So Trump goes on with some whatever. And they're talking about how many views. If somebody goes on for three seconds, that's considered a view. So I don't buy into that. anyhow. Anyway, just stating facts. Just stating how stupid these people are. And they're all talking about how well they did last night. You idiots, the only way you do well last night is if you take down the guy who's blowing your doors off. Oh, but Gary, some of them would just want to be vice president. Some want to just sell books. I'll grant them that. I get you on that. Okay. Fine. dandy. Well, guess what? I gather they're going to be able to sell a book and maybe they'll be in a cabinet. I doubt Asa Hutchinson's going to get into a Trump cabinet if he wins. By the way, on the Biden side, he has shown to be, I have said he's the worst president. I have ever seen
Starting point is 00:09:14 the worst leader. I think he's taken the championship belt on lying away from Trump and the only reason the world doesn't know that is because the media blacks it out. And what he's done with Hawaii is it just an absolute joke. Oh, but he was calling us the same day. Oh, gee, thanks. I still don't believe he's going to make it to the election Biden. I've been watching him, and I'm not one that's talking about it like, oh, there's dimension, this and that. I don't do that. I just look at him. He just looks like 90 years old. What is he, 80? He looks 90. So it's going to be a fun next year in two or three months, and we'll cover it, and we'll We're going to do it without bias, no agenda, no ulterior motive.
Starting point is 00:10:01 And just remember what I just did for you right now in this segment I had to because this is the person. Look at who's going to run the country going forward. Look at the damage Biden's done. Look at the debt and deficits. He's done. Look at the growth in government. He's done. We can't deal with this guy anymore.
Starting point is 00:10:16 All I did just now was state facts about what's in the Trump, some accounts against them, and what these people did last night. I was just waiting for one just to get pissed off just to show you really want to win if I want to be number one at something if I want to be the fastest man alive I've got to find out who the fastest man alive is and look at their score what did they what did they run
Starting point is 00:10:49 and I got to go after that well there's only one president last I looked only one well they got on TV. And that's my take. And by the way, there's no argument. I'm right on everything I just said. Up next, markets. You're not going to be happy about it. This is the one only Investors Edge. Starting point is 00:13:10 Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confused relatives, and saying things like, Sorry, I can't talk right now. I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming.
Starting point is 00:14:08 With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. And we're once again to Investors Edge. Thanks for being with us today. And do not be mad at me. everything I said was pretty much factual. If you don't believe me, go look it up. Go look at the counts and go look at what happened.
Starting point is 00:14:38 We don't make things up here and everything is verified. And we were not taking a side. By the way, as I speak, I am going through aftermarket, but that doesn't matter. Okay, so let me paint a picture for you. the number one semiconductor stock comes out with absolute gargantuan blowout numbers. Not only did they hit the guidance, the unbelievable guidance, the gargantuan raise of their earnings and sales. but they blew the big upgraded guidance away and guided hire going forward. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:15:37 In fact, from one quarter to the next, listen carefully, this company, NVIDIA went from $7.192 billion. This is sales to 13507 sales. Gargantuan. and it's a semiconductor and arguably and really not the most important semiconductor stock in the market. With that blowout number, the stock opened up today on the open at $502.66. It closed at 471.63. They sold off gargantuan numbers. just letting you know and it actually finished below the recent high
Starting point is 00:16:43 on those gargantuan numbers that's number one and we're dealing remember we're dealing with facts here we're not dealing with somebody on TV who gave out their $700 target today or it's gone to $1,000 or you've got to own it for the long term
Starting point is 00:17:03 and on that gargantuan number and Vidia finished up 47 cents today. That's it. But of more interest, everything gaped up today. If it closed at 120, it opened at 130. For example, or some 125, whatever. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, now we have told you, this is really the most important area we watch in the market,
Starting point is 00:17:40 though we watch them all. opens up today at 3663. Let's call it 3664. You got that? Opens up about 62 points to the upside. And you know what everybody's thinking. Oh, this sucker's going to ramp. The semiconductor index after being up 62 on the open finished down almost 121 points today. a 180 point drop from the open. What else? What have we told you about the 50-day moving average? In bullish phases, prices above,
Starting point is 00:18:30 pullbacks are contained by it, and then resume the rally. In bearish phases, you're underneath it and you will rally into it and sell off. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, The 50-day moving average was 3656. As I said, it opened at 3663 a little bit above and sold off like there's no tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:19:05 I don't even know if that makes sense, but it sold off. The NASDAQ, you ready? On the open was 13-834, a little bit. bit above the 50-day moving average. It was up 120 on the open. Finish down 257 as it sold off badly right at the 50-day moving average on the underside. Guess what? The NASDAQ 100 did. Just got above it, finished below it. Massive reversals on what is supposed to be gargantuan news. At a lower high. What do we tell you about that and what do we tell you about stair steps?
Starting point is 00:19:57 Do I need to say more? Awful day today. And when I mean awful, take the word awful and capitalize it and put it in bold. Everything we do is about a roadmap. That was a bearish roadmap today that gives rise. to eventual more problems. The best of the best stocks got rammed today, blasted today, the strength, whacked today,
Starting point is 00:20:43 reversals everywhere. They call them tails, meaning you'll see a bar today that in some stocks were $30. And the little horizontal line, is at the bottom. Lamb Research on the Open today hit 692 closed at 655.
Starting point is 00:21:04 37 points finished at the low of the day. You really can't have worse action than what was today. And you know us. We don't argue. We have told you we don't own any tech right now.
Starting point is 00:21:20 There are some names we've had an interest in that have held up better. They got smashed today. so just letting you know we continue to own no tech we came in today telling our peeps just hang we got about 25 emails last night from people
Starting point is 00:21:44 we don't even know are you buying the gap and our answer was nope we'll see how it plays out and we weren't even thinking about the 50 day moving average we were just thinking when we do our scans of technology stocks, most of them look like crap. Well, they got crappier today.
Starting point is 00:22:08 And I've yet to do my scans, but I know what the heck I'm going to find. As George Costanza once said, the seas were angry that day, my friend, like an old man returning soup at a deli. That's what it looks like. And I'm not so sure I have to go further than that. Another very bad advance decline day. up, down volume, and the rest. We'll cover more. This is the one only investor's edge.

Starting point is 00:24:42 Lounge access is subject to change. See Capital One.com for details. We're listening to. America is talking. Investors edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy.
Starting point is 00:25:00 With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. So, we don't usually quote too many pundits here on this show. There are certain people we follow. My good buddy Gil Morales. Stan Weinstein. William O'Neill when he was alive.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Some of the great hedge fund people. Though, without naming names, some of them have had some not so great moments in the last couple of years. But people like Paul Tudor Jones. George Soros take out the politics. Stanley Druckenmiller. And there are others. One I don't think I've mentioned, if I have. maybe I mentioned once or twice throughout the years is David Ryan. David also worked William O'Neill.
Starting point is 00:26:24 In fact, the first time I met William O'Neill, David Ryan was with him at the Boca Raton-Marriott. I don't remember, I always thought the year was like 91, 92, 90, somewhere in there. And they were like, it was free. And David Ryan, I think, was one of his portfolio managers. And it's just, I really haven't followed him a lot because he was never around, but he's on Twitter. And he doesn't usually put out much on Twitter. But when he does, I follow Dan Niles also. And my goodness, what a call he made on Facebook this year. My goodness.
Starting point is 00:27:07 In the depths of hell that stock was, and he says, buy it. And I'm like, what? So I'm just going to quote David Ryan's tweet today. And it's not how I work. When somebody tries to say, oh, at the end of the year, six months down, I was asked by Stuart Varney today what I thought was going to happen and the rest of the, and I said I don't have targets. But let me read what David Ryan said. And we're not approving it, disproving it. We're just telling you what he said.
Starting point is 00:27:43 The QQQQ has seen its high for the year on July. July 19th of 23, which was at the high. And Vitya's earnings marks the final move in tech, raise cash, and get defensive. Now, we don't work that way, the highs of the year. Why? Because we believe in just following the major trend, following the bouncing ball, and we know our spots, and if this happens, you get my point. But we just want to let you know what David Ryan said.
Starting point is 00:28:17 He's not stupid. That's all I can tell you. And I'm going to give you out some numbers that will know bigger trouble to come. The NASDAQ, which closed at 13463 today, 0.97 down 257. The recent low of a few days ago was 13161. I'm not so sure that's the number. I think the number is more like 13-3 because the low of 626 was 13334. We think a break below there and especially a break below last Friday's low.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Yeah, that wouldn't be good. The NASDAQ 100, the equivalent, would be 14557, give or take. The low of 626 was 14-687. We closed at 14-816. When you have a chance tonight, go look at the charts and you will see a wedge up into the 50-day and a slam today. And the reason why NVIDIA fully reversed, the market took over. O'Neill's acronym is Cam Slim. You can look at the up.
Starting point is 00:29:40 The M in CanSlim is the market. The market is bigger than the sectors which are bigger than the stocks. The market took over in the NASDAQ today, and that's why NVIDIA couldn't get going. But guess what we will do with NVIDIA right now, just like anything else with great earnings, revenue growth? Once we come out of this, if they continue to have that, that'll be big leader. But right now, they took a mallet out today and smacked the heck out on top of the head of this market. And it wasn't just NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100, because the Dow finished down 373, the SMP 59, almost 60. The NASDAQ 100, 331, transports 119, advanced declines.
Starting point is 00:30:23 What have we told you about advanced declines? You ready? 1029 on the New York, 1129 on the NASDAQ, and of course, new yearly highs, hardly any, and new yearly lows have been picking up. And that's today's story, in a nutshell. Hot Open got trashed. And it was not Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob selling. It was not Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob selling. And it was one heck, it was a distribution day meaning volume picked up.
Starting point is 00:30:57 And you get to decide what you want to do. The S&P also sold down at the 50-day moving average also. The Dow right at the 50-day moving average. and the Russell 2000's been direct no matter what. By the way, you want to get this? The Dow's 50-day moving average coming in today was 34-656. It overcut it by 30 points. And then finish at 34099.
Starting point is 00:31:29 So I wish I'd better things to tell you, but that was some ick today. And I want to repeat, you may want to look at those numbers on the downside if broken this will be more intermediate term than just, hey, look what started to happen a month ago. We're going to be watching those closely, but leave no doubt. A monstrous earnings report by Nvidia was kicked in the teeth, and the group it's in got blasted. Now, Nvidia just finished flat, so that's not kicked in teeth, but from the open just kicked in the teeth. Why? Don't know. We just follow the bouncing ball. You know our other issues and stuff like that. Yields went up today. 4.235 on the 10-year yield bounced up a little bit.
Starting point is 00:32:28 And yes, we got Mr. Bubble tomorrow with his Jackson Hole speech. Again, nothing personal. I'm sure he's a nice guy. They don't know what the hell they're doing there. They used to predict and they were wrong 100 out of of a hundred so now their data depend. Who needs somebody at the central bank waiting for something to come in and then you act? Oh, inflation's already here. Oh, it's destroying us. Oh, now we're act. By the way, when it hit, remember?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Uh, it's transitory. Uh, duh. Janet Yellen came out last week and said, oh, the stable economy. Kiss mine. Tell that to Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob who's paying double for chips. By the way, the party-sized chips are like 33% smaller than they used to be. The party size used to be big. And those Hershey chocolates, those little ones in the bag, that used to be 1099, they're still 1499.
Starting point is 00:33:32 And of course, the distortion and housing is still around. That's all Jay Powell. Everybody got to have two and three-quarters, three percent mortgage, got to refinance down. there and now they can't sell because who would want to sell and buy something new and get seven to half that's another distortion and guess what's going to happen out of that distortion the usual how many blowups do we have to have in the last 15 years because these central bank dolts before we shut them down how many more and he'll have his next little speech and and I'm jealous because Jackson Hole. You ever been there? It's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:34:24 What beautiful country. People are the nicest, and they get to go to Jackson Hole. And I don't. Do you know if I ask to go, they'd be laughing at me. Who are you? Do you work at Goldman Sachs? No, you're not going. Welcome to my world. Anyway, worst of all world's outcome at the end of today. The, very big reversal bars today. I'm going to be looking for also on an individual basis, whether there's distribution. By the way, just give you some examples. Broadcom opened up at 910 today.
Starting point is 00:35:06 910. Finished at 8.54. Not making it up. 56 points. Up next. This, that, and the other thing. Whatever else. I'm Gary.

Starting point is 00:37:45 What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Action! In the news. And dudes, do I have a doozy for you? As you know, I don't drink alcohol. When I say that, if I have five drinks a year, it's pretty much a big year.
Starting point is 00:38:28 And the only time I drink is if I go to Nobu, they have these great martinis. And when I go to Dubai soon, I'm going to go to Nobu at the Atlantic. and I'll have one. But five is a big year for me. Seriously. I'm not making this up and I had no idea. Do you know Joe Biden has an alcohol czar? No really. His name is Dr. George K-O-O-B. Now they can't make you. They're not going to force you. I just want to let you know that it's going to happen because it wouldn't be out in the media. That's the leak from the administration. They're going to come and tell us that you should limit yourself to just two beers per week under strict new booze guidelines. What have we told you about Marxist
Starting point is 00:39:32 control freaks? If this doesn't define it, I don't know what does. Americans could officially be urged to drink no more than two beers a week as part of strict new alcohol guidelines. Biden's health czar told the Daily Mail.com, the USDA advised its alcohol advice to match Canada's where people advised to have just two drinks per week. Dr. George Kub, who admits enjoying a couple of glasses of Chardonnay a week, said he is watching Canada's bit experiment with interest. Here's what I say to them. Dr. George Coob, leave us the hell alone. That's all. Go away.
Starting point is 00:40:17 We're smarter than you. People know what to do or not to do. And if somebody wants to be too stupid to drink too much, that's on them. Go away. No. Just so you know, this is telegraphed on purpose by them. and now they're going to come out. By the way, current U.S. recommendations say women can have to one bottle of beer,
Starting point is 00:40:43 small glass of wine, or shot a spirit a day, while men can have two. A day. Ain't that great? Guidelines from these idiots. Remember they told us Maraschino Cherry's red dye number two? That's going to kill us. What's next? What's going to kill us next?
Starting point is 00:41:06 Besides them. By the way, that was in the news. I thought it was worthy since I call these people control freak Marxists. Here they go again. In the news, Donald Trump is going to be arrested tonight, and there will be a mugshot I'm being told. I completely disagree with having a mugshot of Donald Trump. I completely disagree. I know that's procedure.
Starting point is 00:41:35 I just think that's wrong. this is one of our how many presidents have we had i don't believe they should have a mugshot but they don't care what i think they put out mugshots of others and i got again what the hell happened to rudy juliani man oh man remember i i wind and complain about him when all this was going on i kept saying what is this guy thinking him and that dufous attorney what were the two Dufus Attorney with the Women's. Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell, two Dufuses. And this Jenna Ellis, she has a mugshot. She's smiling. Does she just realize she's in harm's way? And she's smiling for a mugshot? In the news, Subway finally sold for $9.6 billion to Rourke Capital,
Starting point is 00:42:34 which owns Duncan Donuts and Arby's. They say they plan on a 23,000 store global expansion. Here's my message to them. I haven't been into a subway in about 10 years because the last time I was in one, it was so dirty. And the tuna looked like it was five days old. And I walked out. I tried going in, I think, two or three years later to another one and the same thing. get i hope they got their act together and due to the fact they
Starting point is 00:43:12 still have tons of them and still tons of people that go in because by the way you know what i used to love the um the chicken sweet chicken terriaki sub it was the greatest so hopefully i haven't been there in a long time hope they're act together and i'm sure it is you got to learn you just got to learn you just got to learn you just got to learn
Starting point is 00:43:43 In the news, speaking of Marxist control freaks, the Biden administration is suing Elon Musk SpaceX for only hiring U.S. citizens. What? What? I thought people got arrested for hiring people that are undocumented here. Oh, that's right. They don't like Elon Musk because, oh, he doesn't like unions. It's unbelievable to watch some of this stuff, ladies and gentlemen. The whole idea, you know, you know what a meritocracy is, right, ladies and gentlemen?
Starting point is 00:44:27 It means you get hired because of your greatness, your passion, your hard work, you're willing to work harder than the next guy, smarter than the next guy, or gal. No, can't do that. Anyway, in the news, well, back on the debates everybody's spinning this that and the other thing I just want to repeat not one of them touched
Starting point is 00:45:05 President Trump I guess you call him ex-president Trump or whatever Donald J. Trump not one he will be unless and I don't think it's going to happen running against Joe Biden
