Starting point is 00:00:47 Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It's Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. Hope you're having a good day. And do not forget, tomorrow is D-Day. And in case you don't know about D-Day, you may want to look it up and amaze that so many people do not. I posted a few pictures from my last Normandy trip up on my Twitter slash X-feed. Go check it out. And if you've not been there, try to get there.
Starting point is 00:01:24 it is I think the most second most humbling place I've ever been to I'm going to say Auschwitz was number one both places leave one speechless ladies and gentlemen
Starting point is 00:01:46 in case you don't know this is serious talk on everything that affects you with no agenda no bias no ulterior motive and what we mean by that is we never used to talk DC But a couple of decades ago we realized the interlopers were getting more and more involved with our lives, with rules, regulations, fees, fines, mandates, taxes, and just gargantuan spending debt and deficits, leading up to what we're seeing now, so we have to cover it. And we shall later today. But first, if you do not get this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com.
Starting point is 00:02:24 We'll also post it on our Twitter feed, which is now. Now X. And if you don't follow us on X, you should go follow us on X right now. And if you'd like to email us, just be nice. Why? Because we're nice. And we can disagree with you 1,000% but as long as you're not an arse clown and a racist and an anti-Semite with respect right back. And we move on. an amazing day in the stock market today, but I just want to get out of the things I want to talk about first, do it very quickly, and then jump all over what we saw today. First off, amazingly, GameStop today bounced up 18% to $31 in change. It was 40.5 at the open two days ago when that Roaring Kitty guy announced that he owned a bunch of this, that, the other thing
Starting point is 00:03:30 and people went nuts again for it. Here's the amazing thing about today and welcome to my world. There's now an SEC investigation on them for manipulation and some other regulatory body and the stock still went up at the close almost $5 today.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Again, welcome to my world. Next, I don't know if you know this. because all the talk of our central bank and lowering the rates, well, the Bank of Canada has already done that. Whippy Do and the European Central Bank next week also, we will eventually lower rates, but keep in mind, rates are already weighed down. Next, in case you don't know what's going on out there,
Starting point is 00:04:15 company called Eulitt Packard, you've heard of them. The stock was up 11% today. On their fabulous earnings that were down 19% years, over year. We've been hearing a lot of that as of late. The CEO mentioned artificial intelligence 41 times, the CFO 29 times, and in total, they all mentioned AI 99 times. Remember what we have told you from the past. Back in 1999, when the internet was going ape crap, you had mutual funds changing their name from the so-and-so technology fund
Starting point is 00:05:01 to the so-and-so internet fund and then when the internet crashed they changed it back you had companies changing their name adding the words dot com to them in order to goose their stocks now what's in vogue just yell and scream
Starting point is 00:05:19 artificial intelligence and watch your stock go Ulyt Packard, earnings down 19% revenue up a measly 3%. Next, as you know, back on January 5th, we told you if NVIDIA breaks out above $505, it would be a five-month gargantuan breakout for what was arguably the number one technology stock in the market. well we bought it we sold it i think with about 75% gain and then we sold on the big reversal the day after
Starting point is 00:06:08 which was early march and we're very careful about telling you what we're doing because we can buy something on monday and change our mind on tuesday and if you're not listening but in this case we let you know on first Friday that we bought, well, you know, Adam did the show Friday. So on Monday, we told you we bought back the stock on Friday. And amazingly, and this is not patting ourselves on the back. This is us being perplexed. Amazingly, in seven trading days, I believe we paid 1040 something. It's 1227 already. Now, in case you don't know, there's a 1040. one split coming in the next couple of days. I think it's after the close Friday. Don't quote me on that, but I think I'm right.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Which means if you have 100 shares, you're going to have 1,000 and divide by 10 on the price of the stock. All I know is, boom, a run up into it, which takes me into the markets. As I turned on my screens this morning, there is a Dutch semiconductor company. called ASML Holdings, symbol ASML, used to be ASM lithography. The stock was up $50. This is one of these semiconductor equipment companies, but it's been dormant since February. And what I mean dormant, dormant.
Starting point is 00:07:51 But it opens up $50 today. Let me also state it was one of those names, earnings down 37% last quarter. revenue down 22% what the hell's going on here they made an announcement that oh they're going to be able to sell their wares in taiwan or something like that and i'm thinking that's 50 bucks well it turned into 80 by the close and now it's uh trying to well it's approaching the old highs of march and we'll see what comes of it but that's not the the story as a whole the story as a whole is and video up 60 Broadcom which reports in a week up 82 we're talking 5% moves and that's the news
Starting point is 00:08:45 lamb research an equipment guy up 49 5% KLA 10 core up 4% I had to go back and buy the semiconductors as a hold today that I sold on Friday
Starting point is 00:09:03 And again, we're not telling you to buy cell shorter cover, and I can change my mind tomorrow. So just be careful with anything I tell you, but all we try to do is get the main trend right. And all I can tell you, it was a Bafo semiconductor day. And I have to tell you, the Dow was hardly up at 345, was up a measly 2 tenths of a percent today. but the NASDAQ was up almost 2%. The NASDAQ 100 was up 2%. And the semiconductors are up for in change? Holy crap.
Starting point is 00:09:44 So just a strong bafo day in semiconductor land slash tech land. We'll see what tomorrow brings. But let me just state for the record. Wow. Wow. You saw big names like Facebook meta. I don't know why they changed the name.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Back above the 50 day. Microsoft jumps back above the 50 day. Apple trying to get to the all-time highs. And just all the other semis just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Oh yeah, I believe the NASDAQ finished at a new high. Oh, yeah, I think the NASDAQ 100 finished at a new high. And even the weaklings had a good day. And you know what I mean by the weaklings. There's just a lot of bad technology stocks as far as technically as well as relative strength. Even some of them bounce pretty decently in their bearish phases.
Starting point is 00:11:03 But overall, just a big dang. Wow. Up next, we'll stick with the markets. We'll complain later. I'm Gary. This is the one only Investor's Edge. Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confused relatives,
Starting point is 00:13:48 and saying things like, sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere people listen. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin's swears are the next big thing. Even better, Spreaker helps you monetize your show with ads, meaning your podcast. might someday pay for, well, more microphones. Start your show today at spreeker.com.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming.
Starting point is 00:14:40 With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. And what once again, tuned to. Investors Edge. So we've been posing the question about half the market acts like crap. Economically sensitive stocks have been in very dire straits as of recent. The transports, they bounced them today. A economically sense of stuff like building slash construction, they bounced them today. Housing, they bounced them today. But in downjury, trends. But we pose the question yesterday, can we come out of that and can we get going because
Starting point is 00:15:34 something's been going on the last few days? For lack of a better word, the 10-year yield. That's the most important. Not Jay Powell, not the Central Bank and them doofuses, but the real free market, it's had a four-day crash and yields. You have gone from 4.638 to 4.289 in four days, make that five trading days. That is a huge drop, which, by the way, means the cost of capital comes down
Starting point is 00:16:16 for everything in everybody, from you for your mortgages to the big companies wanting, to float some bonds. And oil prices have come down markedly, though they bounced a little today. And the question is, with economically sensitive stocks being trashed, are those things telegraphing a worsening economy? And we have been saying to you for a while, we think the economy is worsening, but we have thrown in the butt. If we don't go into recession, it's just a slowdown. And we could even go down to zero GDP. We're at 1.3.
Starting point is 00:16:55 That's not the end of the world. And can the market be in better shape because you know the market loves one thing? Easier money. Well, I can tell you, if we were going into a nasty recession, the Dow would be 2,000 points lower, and the semiconductors, NASDAQ, NASDAQ, 100 would not be at New Yearly highs. So I think we're in a slowdown. If the market ever flushes out, real trouble, oh, we're going to know it.
Starting point is 00:17:29 And how do we know we're going to know it? Because we've studied every recession in every market. 100% of the time in advance, the market gets yonked. And you know what yonk means. It's one of my made-up words. But at the close today, the Dow was only up 96. but the NASDAQ 330, NASDAQ 130, NASDAQ 130, need I say more? And even with those numbers, advanced declines were two to one to the positive in the NASDAQ.
Starting point is 00:18:08 That's not great. On a day like that, usually it's like five to one, but we'll take it. And the 10-year yield again tanked, and that's your mortgages. And so many other things. And you can basically look at the market and look at yields and see they go. hand in hand against each other. Yields down, mark it up. Yields up, mark it down. If anything changes, we'll let you know. But dang, the areas I love, just an unbelievable day. And what it does, it sets up a lot of big cap names for potentially further as we go forward. Potentially,
Starting point is 00:19:01 nothing is ever baked in the cake, ladies and gentlemen. We are on watch on a daily basis because we're dealing with so many variables and so much BS, so much lying, so much utter stupidity, and $6 to $7 billion being added to our debt on a daily basis from somebody who keeps going in front of the camera and saying, oh, I'm lowering the debt and deficits. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:42 But man, we're thrilled today. And let's hope it continues. You know our line. Tomorrow's another day. We don't have much in the way of earnings left. Had some good reactions today. Crowdstrike. Software security up third.
Starting point is 00:20:03 36 on the day, had a good day. Something you've never heard of, I'm sure, called Guidewire Software, up 17% on their earnings. And of course, as I mentioned, Ulyt Packard on AI, AIA, A, A, A, A, I got news for you. AI had better come through with some gargantuan numbers going forward because valuations in the space that I am talking about, where the strength is, is in the redwoods. not the trees, but you ever go north of San Francisco? You know, you've got to drive through San Francisco and make sure you don't get carjacked and then go north of the Golden Gate. They got the redwood trees there.
Starting point is 00:20:44 By the way, if you've never seen it, you've got to go. But avoid Oakland and downtown San Francisco these days, brought to you by Nancy Pelosi who never gets interviewed. It never gets asked about what's going on in her district. Why? Because the media is scared, you know what, list of losing their spot to the almighty. Welcome to holding people to account, which we cover very often here. The rest of the market was okay. Little bounce in financials, little bounce in the economically sensitive.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Terrific. some decent bounces and some down-and-out software stocks. Service now up 32, up 32, it just dropped over 100, things like that. But the story of the day, ASML holdings with the start and NVIDIA up 60 at the close. Amazing. I don't even know what to say. We already asked a dozen times, do we think this NVIDIA move is because of the stock split coming up? I think there's some potential in that.
Starting point is 00:22:02 The question was then asked, do you think that it comes right back down once they do the stock split? Answer, I don't know. What I do know is a two-month breakout, actually a little more than two months on earnings and sales that the market like with a big gap sat around for a day and then coming into last week gaps up. Friday tease the downside. And this week, well, this week it's up 124 points in three days already. Your NVIDIA, which I believe now amazingly is above $3 trillion in market cap. I remember when the first stock went above $1 trillion, I believe it was Apple. By the way, I believe Apple is above $3 trillion also. That's a little less than Nvidia right now.
Starting point is 00:23:03 Amazon, almost two trillion. Microsoft, 3.1 trillion. I think that's number one. Up next, we'll stick with the markets. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day.

Spreaker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge.
Starting point is 00:25:28 He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. Why do people email? with fake emails.
Starting point is 00:25:47 What's the matter with people? How many weird people out there that would email you with fake email addresses? That they just can't put out who they are. Whether they're sweet or not so sweet. I got a couple of these clowns out there. I have one that email address, never wrong at gmail.com, and he makes fun of me all the time. How about saying who you are?
Starting point is 00:26:14 and always misquotes me. It's amazing. I love people. I just don't get it. Show yourself. Unlike the racist anti-Semites at the colleges. And by the way, I don't even blame them anymore. I blame the colleges.
Starting point is 00:26:43 If I ran those colleges, none of that crap's happening. And every one of them expelled. Oh, you block a person from going to library? You're expelled. You wish somebody's death? Oh, you're expelled. You block walkways? Oh, you're expelled.
Starting point is 00:27:04 When they find out they'd be expelled, guess what? Doesn't happen. But you know what some of these colleges are doing? They're negotiating with people that threaten people's lives, students' lives on campus. They're negotiating.
Starting point is 00:27:25 How nice. Let's negotiate with people who threaten people's lives, which calls into question these same colleges. If you use the wrong pronoun on somebody, you get my point. How did we get to the point where these heads of colleges hate Jews? But they'll take Jews and their money. But they hate Jews. And I'd say it to their face.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I bring it up because there's not a day that goes by that another video doesn't show up on my desk of just unimaginable stuff. And people and students got away with it. And the colleges are negotiating. And they're giving things back to what amounts to just scummy, sleazy people. You threaten another student's life because he's Jewish and you do nothing. You negotiate with them. If I run the joint, they're out on their asses. Have a nice day. And it goes on their record just in case they want to enter another college. And when you tell all of them
Starting point is 00:28:57 what would happen to them, they stop. Here in Florida, we had none of that. I think there was one little uprising, and it was over in a flash. Do you know why? Because the message was sent out? Yeah, keep on. And see what happens. Just remember, you see these people in masks? They're a bunch of wimps.
Starting point is 00:29:22 That's why they wear masks and cover up. They're wimps. There's no courage there. They're wimps. And they don't do it by themselves. They do it in, like, packs of wolves, because if they do it to the wrong person by themselves, they may get their asses kicked. Yet the colleges let it be. And by the way, they're still letting it be.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Some of it's still going on. I saw some video in Stanford. What the hell is a matter with these people running some of these colleges? Oh, that's right. They hate Jews unless they get the money from the Jews and then they're okay. I actually wanted to save that for later, but I was just watching the video during the break. We move on. Rules. The S&P into new high ground today. If it sticks, nothing but good going forward. The S&P held the 50-day moving average on the pullback on Friday. And guess what we tell you about the 50-day moving average? The NASDAQ held the big reversal. And let me just state for the record on Friday,
Starting point is 00:30:47 they were creaming the semiconductor stocks. And at 3 o'clock, somebody rang the bell, and the most vicious half-hour rally into the close in technology, I really have seen a long time, they were trading like penny stocks. That reversal looks like it cleaned things out, and here we go again. the NASDAQ 100 new high ground the Philadelphia Semiconductor index closed at new highs by the way it hit 5,000 Friday midday it's 5347 at the close Wednesday last I looked that's about 7% led by some of the select big names but I have to tell you it's not just them my whole semi-conductor
Starting point is 00:31:42 screen is emerald green today. Even the ones with 50% drops in earnings and 30% drops in sales, which has me saying to you, well, earnings better show up down the road or else. So that's where we're parking our carcass. There's some other things going on. Let me just give you a few other things I'm seeing. Wingstop! Almost breaks out today on Big Volume. Restaurant stock that has just been darn strong. I never been to one, but I'm going to have to visit one. Strong earnings and sales. Chipotle holds the 50-day moving average today and bounces off of it. Good to see. How about sweet green breaks into new high ground today? What is that? A bunch of salads. But on the other end, Starbucks, and as I've told you, I went to visit three Starbucks and especially
Starting point is 00:32:43 the one I go to, business has got to be down 25 to 40% in the last three months. Why? Oh, I think it's simple. Things I used to pay $6.99 for are going for $9.99 now. Higher in New York City. I think the price conscious is going on. But it's a big separation because Cracker Barrel is in the doldrums. And you know their story right now. They're trying to change up everything they do. They say they're behind the world and they're going to fix the restaurants. Do not change your stores because they got all the old candy, which we love. But Cracker Barrel stock has been in a gargantuan bear market. And that's what we tell you. I know the old think long term, but when I say to your city group is still down 90-some-odd percent from 2008, just make sure what
Starting point is 00:33:41 you're holding long term. I heard somebody say the other day, just hold Nvidia forever. Boy, those words nauseate me. I can promise you in 2000, it was just hold Cisco Systems forever. It hit an eye of 82 in 2000. It's 46 today, Cisco Systems. Still a great company. but you can't have earnings and sales down 12% year over year. And as we tell you, things are constantly changing, always stay on top of things. Why? In technology, obsolete. In business, sometimes companies, when they're doing so well, they get full themselves,
Starting point is 00:34:41 and they forget this competition in the world changing. and how many things can we talk about where things have gone by the wayside. Speaking of going by the wayside, in the news, in the news, we've been talking about crime a lot here. And we always get asked, what the hell does that have to do with the market? Well, it's everything. If every blue city lets violent criminals out, and it's a big part of our economy, all these big cities, I mean, what the hell happens? in Chicago a woman and a man were attacked
Starting point is 00:35:34 wait to you hear this story and wait to you hear the penalties you want to know why this is the one only investors edge guys it's no use putting it off the best time for an underwear refresh is now Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day

Starting point is 00:38:19 What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Action! In the Gester's Edge. With Gary Culper. All right. In the news.
Starting point is 00:38:37 Some depressing. A group of teens from. forced a woman to miscarry her baby with a brutal attack after she and her husband dared to stray onto a Chicago street that the youths claimed as their own. The youths were 14 to 17 years old and beat the living crap out of this man and woman that were just walking down the street. The baby died. The police arrived at the scene, arrested a 14-year-old boy in a 17-year-old. year old girl and they are looking at this point in time. You ready for this?
Starting point is 00:39:20 They were charged with a misdemeanor and released. The last I looked, murder is a felony. They were released. Animalistic teenagers were released
Starting point is 00:39:48 with a misdemeanor. And as you know, I'm no Trump fan, but you want to know why the Trump people are so pissed off that that is a misdemeanor where a baby is dead and a husband and wife had the crap beat out of them. And Trump's hit with felonies that were misdemeanors. I get it. Just remember, they don't call me Mr. Logic for nothing, we're just logical here. We just try to add things up. and it's going on in a bunch of cities now.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Washington, D.C. is putting out flyers. Here's how not to be carjacked. That's how many carjacks are going on in D.C. And why we're hearing that it's kind of like the same people. They refuse to put them away. Anyway, that was in the news. Which takes me to Oakland. And boy, have we talked about Oakland lately.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Workers in Oakland. We've already talked about the restaurants and stores being shut, the people being carjacked left and right, nobody wanting to go out at night. Now construction workers quit. They were supposed to be filling potholes in the streets, and they were being attacked. They quit.
Starting point is 00:41:26 and of course for some reason the residents keep electing I call them criminal lovers so in Oakland they can't even fix the potholes because nobody wants to go out on the street and of course
Starting point is 00:41:46 then there's California who by the way just raised gas tax another 50 cents because they love the citizens so much the Marxist in chief there puts out a tweet about how many Fortune 500 companies there and the wealth and this and that and got hammered on Twitter slash X. Have you seen the videos and the pictures of the homeless tents dotting beautiful areas of
Starting point is 00:42:18 Southern California? But keep electing these people. Remember, they're so lucky. A Gavin Newsom is so lucky to be running California. A beautiful state. state. He's so lucky he's got Hollywood there and all these rich celebrities there, which, by the way, a bunch of them are leaving. It's just total abuse of people. Amazing. In the news, the New York Times is added again, the Social Security fix nobody wants to talk about. Oh, that's right. They want to tax you more. Remember what we told you? Social Security is a government program that they screwed up from the beginning because they forgot about demographics and they stole all the money, all the politicians. You never used to pay taxes on your Social Security and then they're paying taxes. And then it kept going up and up and up and up and up and up and then they raised the threshold and raise the threshold and raise the threshold and raise the threshold.
Starting point is 00:43:22 And any time any politician wants to attempt to do something about it, oh, you are throwing grandma off the ledge and the roof and this and that and the other thing and nothing gets done. yet they keep telling us they're running out of money in the next few years. And remember what I told you. Back after Bush 2 won the re-election, we were invited to the White House. They wanted to do a whole day of interviews on. They wanted to look at Social Security. And we got to interview the Treasury Secretary, Mitch Daniels, who was running OMB at the time and others. And all they wanted to do was talk about it.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Within a week, I get a call. They're dropping it because of how much crap they were getting politically just wanting to talk about it. Oh, but now it's in big trouble. Oh, but now they just want to tax the hell out of you. New York Times. They just love you. On the good news front, just letting you know car deals. And we told you this about a week ago, but now they're reporting it or two weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Just letting you know, zero percent. No money down on leases. They're out there. Why inventory picks up, when inventory picks up, they've got to get rid of inventory to bring a new inventory. So just letting you know for you the consumer, it's becoming a buyer's market. It's also becoming a buyer's market in the housing market. Many areas I can tell you on the high end in Florida, I wouldn't call it a crash, but a big drop from Fantasyland. You have people putting up homes for $5 million that were $2.5 million four years ago. And all of a sudden, the five, million is down to 4.2 million, which is still fantasy land. So we expect a lot more. And it's not just Florida. It's other areas across the country. You can go on Zillow, put any city in, and it shows the map of how many homes and what's going on. So we're just letting you know, it's quickly becoming a buyer's market in many areas, of course, location, location, but I'm just letting you know. And the good news is for new buyers, if yields keep coming down, mortgage rates are going to come down and man what a big difference between the three and the seven brought to you by j powell and as i
