Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colbom, your host. A thanks of being with us today.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is Monday, June 10th, 2024. And we have a load to cover. We have lots to cover. Our job has never done. here to make sure we protect you from the ills that are going on and swirling all about. And we hope you've been listening because we are clear and concise and stand fast in front of you next to you.
Starting point is 00:01:29 First and foremost, your protection of capital. Secondly, how to make some bucks. Hope you had a good weekend. In case you don't know, this is serious talk about you and everything that affects you, your money, the markets, the economy, your jobs, your industry, everything else under the sun. If you do not get this show in your city, this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com. We'll also post it on a Twitter feed, which is now X. And if you'd like to email me, you may.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Just be respectful. Just be nice. Just like an email we received disagreeing with me, but respectful. and that's where we start today. GameStop. Got an email from somebody very respectful, but Gary, you're spending an awful lot of time on GameStop. You bet I am.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Do you want to know why? Because last week, that whatever his name is, did a live stream where almost a million people were on there. And as they were streaming their comments, You know it was in the comments? Is there anything you can do about the stock? Can we all band together and get this stock up? Come on, Kitty, I thought you were better than this.
Starting point is 00:02:50 I took out a loan for this. There was desperation on that chain. Our job is to protect based on our years, based on the history of the markets. Without telling you what to do, we didn't have to. We said to you, we are not telling you to buy, sell shorter cover. We're just letting you know when all is said and done. It will go back where it came from.
Starting point is 00:03:30 But I have a few things I want to add. If you don't mind. I got an email from somebody else. And hit the money question. Gary, if you met this guy, what would you say to him? Now, those that know me know that I am a very charming and nice guy. As I have said to you, I'm the king of conscience. You may not know it when I talk about the politicians, but they have earned the wrath.
Starting point is 00:04:18 What I would say to this roaring kitty guy is your dirt. Everything in the markets that define dirt is you. You bought a craplode of the stock. know you have a lot of followers, know they're still a short position, and then you throw out the wake-up call, and they followed in line. You're dirt. But I must tell you, I can't blame him. I blame the lemmings that would actually follow this dirt.
Starting point is 00:05:01 But that's what I would say to his face. And those that have watched with no bias, this live stream, you would have seen a desperate amateur that front ran a stock and got his way. He says it's his money, all his. I have no idea, but I don't ever trust dirt. That's all. That's what I would say to his face. And unfortunately, the stock is taking a trashing because he also came out since he had nothing to say.
Starting point is 00:05:58 He had to say, well, you really shouldn't follow me. This is very speculative and you never know what's going to happen. And I'm, you know, I can do this, that, or the other thing very quickly. GameStop finished today at 2480 down to. $3.40 hit a low of 23, which means somebody's still buying or speculating or short covering. I don't know. I just want to advise you. It was $48 at the open on Friday. Before the open, in the wee hours of the morning, it was $64 on. He's doing a live stream. That's where we wanted to start. We'll finish off by telling you. We are not here telling you to buy, sell, short, or cover the stock because in the short run,
Starting point is 00:06:54 we have absolutely no idea whether he's going to be able to scam it up more or whether it's done. What we do know is the company diluted the shares another 25 percent, 75 million shares. They have to do it 45 million. They lowered their sales numbers and reporting a big loss. The company is worse than when it was. was before Mr. Kitty, and it's my contention, front ran the stock. We'll keep you advised. You decide. It's your money. Next, in case you don't know, Nvidia did a 10 for once stock split. it closed today at 122 and 38 cents which is $1,223.
Starting point is 00:07:52 So if you had 100 shares, you now have 1,000. If you had 10 shares, you now have 100. And I must tell you coming into today, I was worried about the split, but so far so good, it was a good day for the semiconductor stocks today. tomorrow is another day the stock remains on very much the strong side it is extended at this point to the upside
Starting point is 00:08:20 if I had my druthers I would love the stock to sit for three weeks not go up not go down sit around and then make another move but the market doesn't give a crap what I want or what I think we'll see how that goes
Starting point is 00:08:37 next with talk markets. We're going to be talking the election and economic policy. As you know, we abhor the economic policy of Joseph Biden. We believe he marketed himself as a moderate, but he makes... The United States voted in somebody left of Bernie Sanders. He has proven it. We are no fan of Ireland.
Starting point is 00:09:14 either. As you know, we have stated on this show, we feel like we're voting for the Ebola virus versus the bubonic plague, but it is a binary choice. And we will tell you when somebody has a good idea or a bad idea. Today, I have to tell you, under the headline, why didn't I think of this? I want you to remember that government can't turn on the light bulb in any offices without our tantal. tax dollars. You need to know that, number one. So when they say, oh, the tax cuts increase the deficit, no, it's our money. We give it to them. They don't give it back to us. You need to know that. That's really how it works. But they have created this BS line about whose money is it. Anyway, I start with that because I got to compliment Trump for a very rare occasion today. He had an idea coming under the headline again. Why didn't I think of that? He was in Vegas, and I guess you have a lot of service people there.
Starting point is 00:10:32 He said, if he was president, he is going to put some legislation in that you don't pay taxes on tips. and I'm like, that is a great idea. That is a great idea. I love that. I don't know if it'll ever get done. Here's the amazing part. We want to know politics. This would be a great idea
Starting point is 00:11:03 which should make the service unions happy as all heck. Wait to hear their answer. And then the markets. Thanks for being here. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Hi, I'm Gary Kohlbaum. hosted a nationally syndicated radio show Investors Edge. We're not just handsome radio people.

Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to
Starting point is 00:14:33 Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. So, Trump comes out with this idea. To all waiters, waitresses, service, you don't pay taxes on your tips. The union for the service workers should be given them a standing ovation.
Starting point is 00:15:09 What did they do? came out and said, we don't believe anybody that comes out with anything who's been a convicted felon. Pure politics. Pure politics. So you have one guy that wants to get rid of the Trump tax cuts, which, by the way, would raise taxes for all these service people, wants to raise the capital gains long term from 20 to 44, proposes a wealth tax. and amazingly unrealized capital gains versus somebody who wants to lower taxes. And for pure politics, the head of the union for the service employees, pisses all over Trump. Politics, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 00:15:59 I just want you to remember something. None of them give a crap about you. It's all about their power. And if they're worried about losing power, they will sell them their soul. down the street, just letting you know. Which takes me to the last part of the politics today as we go into the election. I don't know if you saw this, but a lot of Silicon Valley is backing Trump when they never in the past. With big dollars, while I got emails from Julia Roberts and George Clooney that I need to give to Biden.
Starting point is 00:16:44 By the way, somehow I ended up on their mail list by the name of Dan. I don't know how they have me on their mail list by the name of Dan, but I decided not to unsubscribe just to see what they send. They want me to send $25. I would go into a contest to meet the Bidens and George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Yeah. Anyway. But Silicon Valley, and here's what's really going on.
Starting point is 00:17:11 They're sick of it. you got the state of California that's running massive deficits and raising taxes in order to pay for their deficits because they can't control their spending and they're tired of it. They did a mansion tax, Silicon Valley, and they're tired of it. Wealth tax and they're tired of it. Being talked down to as bad people while being asked to contribute. dollars to the party that's talking down to them. And they're tired of it. So just let you know, it's getting interesting out there.
Starting point is 00:17:54 I still say it's going to come down to... People are saying seven states. I think it's probably five. And I still think no matter what, it's going to be close. I know Trump's been going out saying he's going to target New York. He's not winning New York. He's not winning New Jersey. So it's going to be Arizona.
Starting point is 00:18:14 I think Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and we'll see what ends up happening. You know where I stand on the economy. We the people, not we the government, and this man in the White House is running $6 to $7 billion is added to our debt every day. Six to $7 billion a day is added to our debt. While he gets in front of the TV and says,
Starting point is 00:18:43 I lowered the debt and deficits. And as I have said to you, I don't think we've ever seen somebody not tell the truth like Trump during his four years. This guy came in. He makes Trump look like Mother Teresa. And I mean that. So as we get towards the election, hey, if Biden proposes good things, we're on it. If he doesn't, we'll rip him. If Trump proposes good things, we're on it.
Starting point is 00:19:10 If he proposes stupid things, we'll rip him. Like, oh, 100% tariffs. Let me tell you something, ladies and gentlemen. If he ever does that, all hell would break loose. So he's not going to do it. I'm just letting you know, 100% tariffs. Huh. And let me finish up on the media.
Starting point is 00:19:36 So for Israelis, hostages were freed. Israeli soldiers risked their lives, one died to get them out. It has been confirmed that an Al Jazeera journalist and his family was holding one of the hostages. The other three were held by civilians while the terrorists were sitting outside. Do you hear that? The media is basically reported. about how many Palestinians died, not the hostages being freed. The hostages being freed is an aside to them.
Starting point is 00:20:25 These sick, twisted crazies that hate democracies, the UN, the national media, they hate democracies. They live in a democracy. They make millions of dollars, these journalists, and they hate the democracies. The lie that Israel is apartheid and an occupier when Israel's been out of Gaza since 2005 or 06. The lie that Israel's apartheid when in Gaza, if you're gay, they'll hang you. While Israel, Jews, Arabs, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, gays, every race, creed, color, gender, denomination, live and play and work together. Muslims are in the Knesset in government.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Imagine being a Jew and walking in Gaza with an Israeli flag. You're dead. So we give no quarter to these sleaze bags, these liars, these nut jobs, which puts me to finish the diatribe. Did you see the White House yesterday? You had a guy there in a mask holding up a bloodied head of Joe Biden. indicating murdering the president of the United States. Outside the White House,
Starting point is 00:21:57 they desecrated government property and monuments outside the White House. Did you hear anything? Did you see anything? Did the president come out pissed off? Did the Secret Service get a hold of this man who was basically threatening murder of the President of the United States? Nope. Nope. Now, when Trump wins, and this is not a prediction, we'll know why. I don't know who the hell's run in this country and what they're about. But if I'm the President of the United States, what happened there, the White House yesterday doesn't happen. And if somebody held up, as the President of the United States, if somebody held up, my head, bloodied, indicating my death, murder of me, this guy ain't going to see the light of the light.
Starting point is 00:23:01 a day for a while. Just my take. Back to the markets. Lots to cover. Really lots to cover. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Tommy John Underware

Sprinker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that.
Starting point is 00:25:30 The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm really getting close. You know, I don't have a lot of time.
Starting point is 00:25:56 time on my hand between my business, everything else I do and my family, you know, my parents, I have to become the biggest voice out there on what they're trying to do and what they're getting away with with our country. Everything about the greatness of our country is we the people. 160 million of us go to work every day to do better for ourselves and families. yet that rules, regulations, fees, fines, mandates, taxes, control. It's obscene what's going on, trying to solidify power while cutting us off at the knees. And by the way, they're doing it in plain sight and somehow, and this is the part I don't get, the media, what the hell is a matter with these people?
Starting point is 00:27:03 What interests do they have? in Bing's so stupid. A popular pizza chain now in California is leaving. Blaze Pizza, relocating its headquarters from Pasadena, Atlanta because they can't take the taxes and what they're doing with the minimum wage. 10,000 jobs in California. Gone.
Starting point is 00:27:48 In California, Uber and Lyft lost the lawsuit because of the judge. in California. They want to make drivers, employees, not independent contractors, even though independent contractor, really the definition is, are you working on your own time? Do you set your own hours? The answer is yes. Why is California doing this? Money. And as I've said to you, they just they know how beautiful estate is and what's there and they take advantage of people i've talked to you about oakland and now when oakland church is left without electricity award it's being vandalized 12 times and the mayor has done nothing and you already know about the carjacking
Starting point is 00:28:58 and the robberies and the stores leaving these are the things i got to start getting into because we do it without any bias. We tell it like it is. And as you know, we rip them all. We'll compliment them all. But we got to get back to we the people. We should be doing 8% GDP if they'd get the hell out of our way. Government spending the year before COVID was $4.4 trillion.
Starting point is 00:29:29 It's seven and change now. Guaranteed to go to 10. It's insane. $43,000 new government's,000. jobs last month. For what? I move on. Great day for the semi-conductors. We're just going to report to you what the story is, NVIDIA, was up a buck and a half today, which is $15 with a 10-for-one split. We're hoping it sits around for a while. One thing that stood out today is the equipment makers. KLAC up 25 to 794 closed at a new high.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Lamb Research, up 40 to 1,003. These 3 and 4% moves, but they have been range bound and they're moving out of range, applied materials. All three equipment makers, edged out to New Yearly highs, monolithic power, edged out to New Yearly Highs. These are all semiconductors. By the way, there's not a lot of New Yearly highs in the market. Facebook, meta. Up 10 today. Breaks above the 500 range.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Looks like it may want to attack. The old highs will see. Microsoft nearing the old highs up for today. Just a good day for those where you didn't have a good day. Apple was down 380. They had their confab where they talk what's new, what's new, what's new. And amazingly, for a change, you know what Apple talked about, right? AIA, AIA, chat, GBT, JET, JET, JEPT, JAP, it was still down $3.80.
Starting point is 00:31:06 cents. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Volume was heavy. I was looking at what they announced, something about a new watch, this, that, and the other thing. I guess the market was unimpressed. I'm just going by what happened today. That can change. But all I can tell you, Apple, artificial intelligence features will be limited to the iPhone 15 of higher models. It won't be the old ones. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, more personal, capable and intelligent than ever. What else do we need them to do? Anyway, Apple was hit today a little bit. But overall, just a good semiconductor day, a good mostly not all, big cap tech day. I'm looking at what else.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Oil's bounce. Oil was up $2 today. And I would suggest that's just because oils dropped a lot. Nothing good happens if oil goes up. Oil stocks bounce today. they have been weaker, normal bounce so far. I do want to mention there was some big moves today because being added to indices, CrowdStrike up big today.
Starting point is 00:32:21 See, first tide water and oil was up 12 bucks today. CrowdStrike was up $25 being added to the S&P. KKR, Colbert, Kravice Roberts, up to 11 bucks added to the S&P. Be careful of all those usually. Not all the time gets unwound. Also, some of those power energy companies, strong days, particularly Constellation Energy, C-E-G, bounced right off the 50-day and almost double volume. Some restaurants.
Starting point is 00:32:55 I'm just going to mention good charts. Dominoes, setting up pretty well. Kava Group. did a secondary pulling back looks like maybe the pullbacks over in retail apparel deckers remain strong after the gap probably need some work crocs which was under pressure up seven today I didn't see any news that was pretty strong today broadcom doesn't matter what I tell you they report on Wednesday
Starting point is 00:33:26 that was up 34 today just another semi A bad semi-AMD got downgraded today, and that's just been weak overall. But just a good day for the big mega-semi, some other tech, not everything type of day. Dow was up 69 today. Amazon up three. That gap back above the 50 day on Friday. Microsoft up four in the Dow. And then you had some of Home Depot was up five today, but that's been 396 down to three.
Starting point is 00:34:01 330. That's been roughed up pretty good. SMP up 13. Nasdaq up 59, NASDAQ 100 up 73. Transports up 136. Hey, finally at an update. I didn't see any news, but FedEx was up five today. It just dropped from 291 to 250. So it bounced. And by the way, in case you don't know, FedEx is trading right where it actually December of 2017. no gains for FedEx in that period of time. Anything else that's gold bounced. Gold had a terrible day on Friday. It was announced that China didn't buy in May and the market didn't like it. That bounced. Right now, gold is under the GLD under the 50 day and has been tracing out, let's see, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight weeks of range bound,
Starting point is 00:35:07 but the range bound has gone negative. We'll see if that gets better. A bounce after a big drop is normal. I wouldn't put too much to that. And again, the broad market remains, it was really not good early in the day, finish flat on the day. But when I do my scans and they're in depth,
Starting point is 00:35:31 I can't begin to tell you how many stocks are in bad shape, considering where the big indices are. The answer is, a ton. Up next, what else with the market? This is the one only investors end. It's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. Their zero shape thanks to four times more stretch than competing brands and their innovative
Starting point is 00:36:38 horizontal quick draw fly is a game changer. With over 30 million pairs sold, there are thousands of men out there more comfortable than you. Don't settle for less. Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confused relevant. and saying things like, sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster.
Starting point is 00:37:46 The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere people listen. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin swears are the next big thing. Spreaker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to.
Starting point is 00:38:19 What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Action! In The Gester's Edge. With Gary Culpa. By the way, and this is what I mean. This is what you get.
Starting point is 00:38:49 And it's a shame. Here's a New York Times headline. Israel rescues four hostages in assault that killed scores of Ghazans. That's how they report four people that were kidnapped. One of them a woman, and I wonder what happened to her while she was there. And the New York Times reports about others. And by the way, the numbers they are getting are from the Hamas-run Ghazan health ministry. And it's well known that a lot of these numbers are BS and a lot of them are terrorists.
Starting point is 00:39:35 But that's how they do it. By the way, here's another headline from the New York Times. And again, Trump vows to lower prices. Some of his policies may raise them. That's their headline. So you have the president now, Joe Biden, where prices have soared. yet the headline by the New York Times is it'll be Donald Trump
Starting point is 00:40:06 that raises prices this is what we're talking about this is how bad they are it's ridiculous and I mention a pizza chain how about salued tacos bit of fixture in San Diego guess what they're doing
Starting point is 00:40:26 closing 48 restaurants they can't take the minimum wage. And do you think the governor, who by the way, will be running for president in 28, an absolute horror show. And all they have to do is start thinking about we the people instead of them.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Arse backwards. That's who these people are. Ars backwards. I said to you earlier about the market, we don't have a bias when we scan. We basically put our head down and we scan. And the hope is bad turns into good. And how does bad turn into good?
Starting point is 00:41:36 Well, it's simple. They stop going down and they start building a head of steam. And they start turning up and things get better. And all I can tell you is, as we do our scans, we're stunned about how many stocks are in bad shape in differing groups too and we have been highlighting for you economically sensitive transports casinos rails truckers auto parts retail a ton of retail but we've also separated retail like abacrombie and fitch is strong as all heck
Starting point is 00:42:21 five below, they should change their name to two below. That's how bad they are. Now, we must tell you there's a lot of people complaining about narrow markets. I have to tell you, we don't mind them, and let me tell you why. Narrow markets will tend to accentuate the strength even more, because money will come out of the week. and pile on on top of the strength. And what we're seeing right now, leave no doubt, is narrow,
Starting point is 00:43:10 where the strength is the semiconductors. They tell us it's because of AI, I don't know, fine and dandy. Other big tech, other tech, and then a smattering of stuff. China tried to get going, gave back a ton, though holding a big line of support this second, we'll see. But then as I go through so many names, so when we say to you, avoid this regardless of this, we mean it. And when we say to you, the S&P is right near the highs, the NASDAQ is right near the highs. the NASDAQ is right near the highs but the advanced declines
Starting point is 00:44:08 are way way down you got to see the advanced decline on the NASDAQ just keeps drifting lower as the NASDAQ is near highs what does that tell you a select group is really doing the job and that's fine we'll stick with that select group
Starting point is 00:44:32 we'll ignore the rest And I must tell you, narrow markets make it a little easier for us. Because when we do scan, our lists are much shorter. So we're just letting you know, if you have one of those diversified 100 stocks, I would be scanning those stocks because if you can knock out the crap and keep the good. And I have to tell you, some of these areas have been in crappy shape for a while. And may I add for the record the regional banks just keep worsening as of late. And we've been telling you forever now, if you're going to own the big banks,
Starting point is 00:45:27 if you're going to own banks, make sure it's the big, not the small. And we haven't had any implosions for a long while, and that's good news, but the market still does not trust the regionals, even the big regionals. and this is what we mean by focus. You get Bank of New York at highs, you have Huntington Bank breaking down. That's the type of things we mean. All right, tomorrow,
Starting point is 00:45:57 I'll be on 1 PM Big Money Show on Fox Business Network. Check that out. Same time tomorrow here. Wednesday's the Fed, yay, and all that. You have a great evening drive carefully when you get home, do like we do. quite simple. Make sure you hug your family. Make sure you hug your children. They will feel better. You will feel better. I promise. Just remember, ladies and gentlemen, we, the people. Have a good night.
