Starting point is 00:00:00 I tell myself, it's not about comparing. But then I start wondering, what can they lift? Are they adding more weight to their barbell than I am? And suddenly, I'm not training. Then I realize, my journey is not theirs. I've earned every step. So I smile. My smile is the shape resilience takes to keep me moving.
Starting point is 00:00:18 To put more smiles out into the world, Colgate has supported female athletes for over 50 years with the Colgate Women's Games, the nation's longest-running indoor track and field series for girls and women. Colgate, your smile is your story. strength. Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum. Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum.
Starting point is 00:00:43 And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host. A thanks of being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is Tuesday, May 9th, 2020. And can I depress you out of the box? Do you mind? In case you did not know,
Starting point is 00:01:06 we have a president right now that's pretty much just destroying the country. Gary, what do you mean? Well, Joe Biden has been in Washington, D.C. for I don't know how many years. The only time he was not in politics was the four years when Trump was president. So you take out those four years. And Joe Biden has voted for 26,000. trillion of our debt. The premise is I'm right that the debt is going to eventually explode. Joe Biden is destroying the border. Just so you know, a country is only a country with a
Starting point is 00:01:53 border. And you know, you want to think best of somebody. And I've always ignored people that say, oh, he's doing it on purpose. Well, the only answer is he's doing it on purpose. If you have not kept up with what's going on at the border, you may want to get up on what's going on out there and what's about to happen in a couple of days that they're doing nothing about. On top of that, well, let me give you the big hint. Title 42. Read up about it. On top of that, he refuses to do press conferences. On top of that, the only thing he went on MSNBC and he had a kiss-ass interview. Though I got a hand to her, she did ask a couple of tough questions. He could not handle me for five minutes in the interview. Journalist supposed to hold the powerful to account.
Starting point is 00:03:04 That's not what this interview did. He has proposed $6.8 trillion spending. this coming year, up from 4.4 the year before COVID, a 55% increase in their size of government while proposing all kinds of taxes, rules, mandates, fees, fines, regulations, you name it. They're going after dishwashers. He's corrupt. Nobody can tell me he's not. you know I watch everything I see everything I'm the nobody's tank
Starting point is 00:04:00 him and his son influence peddling and the media blacked it out but when all send done he becomes president and that's what we have to concentrate on Afghanistan
Starting point is 00:04:17 Joe Biden the man of the women man for all women he's destroyed the women in Afghanistan. They've taken them back to the dark ages again. Besides leaving billions of dollars of artillery, though we're told that we made them useless before we left. Shall I continue?
Starting point is 00:04:43 I'll stop there. Donald Trump today, in a civil case, was convicted, found guilty of sexual abuse and sexual battery and defamation of violence. the woman. He's been ordered to pay $5 million for this. Do you know what I heard so far from the backers of Trump? This will only help him. Let me repeat this. The two people that are chalk right now, you know what chalk is, right? In case you don't know, chalk means the favorite. Horse track, dog track, the chalk is the favorite.
Starting point is 00:05:34 favorite. The two people that are the chalk, one was just found guilty civil case of sexual abuse and battery and defamation of that woman, ordered to pay $5 million, and the people that back him say it's going to help him. The people that back Biden say, nothing about Afghanistan, turn a blind eye on immigration, debt and deficits. They parry Joe Biden's big lies on the debt and deficits. He said he's cut spending in debt and deficits yet he's breaking all records. His budget, $6.8 trillion will have up to a $2 trillion deficit. A record by far.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Remember what I said to the beginning? I'm going to depress you. These are the two people. That's probably going to be the Republican Democratic nominees for president in 24. Oh, by the way, Trump is one of the greatest liars of all time. Trump is still saying that the election was fraudulent, even though everybody knows it Moralago he doesn't believe it, but he knows it's been working with his base so he keeps saying it.
Starting point is 00:07:08 even though he created a defense fund to fight it, collected over 200 million bucks and spend not a dime on it, they just still back him. No matter what. Trump once said if he murdered somebody on Fifth Avenue in the middle of the street, they'd still back him. I think he's right. We're so screwed. By the way, Trump ran $5,6 trillion, $7 trillion, depending on which abacus he used of dead also, and was begging Jay Powell to lower interest rates to zero in print money.
Starting point is 00:07:49 And I can go on and on. The politicization of COVID, the whole works. We have the two biggest liars on earth, corrupt, sleazy, slimy, and they're going to be the chalk to run for president in 24. They're the chalk. I'm depressed. And I'm pissed at myself. Why?
Starting point is 00:08:19 If I took a different route years ago, I'd run and hopefully win. Because let me tell you what I would do. These would be my policies. Strong defense, full backing of the police. Balanced budgets. Castrate the central bank and take them out of our hair. I would meet with every mayor of every dilapidated city with the police chiefs. and get cracking on every one of those cities around the country.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Education? I would unravel and unwrap and start raising expectations of our children and their parents. Because they're all kidding themselves if they think. Kids can just walk through school and become success stories coming out with not knowing anything, when they go interview for jobs. I would work with every boys and girls club around the country, and there's a ton of them. Kids that are not feeling important,
Starting point is 00:09:45 worried about getting involved with gangs. And I'd corral them and make them feel great, and make them feel important, and educate them, and teach them code and computers, and mentorship, and leadership, and everything. everything under the sun, I'd be a good president. I'd be a great president. And I would never lie. I'd look straight into the camera and tell you the truth, whether it's good or bad. I'd let Russia and China know they F with us. We'll F back.
Starting point is 00:10:32 And every dime spent in D.C. will be accounted for. Welfare will be welfare and work fair. We'll give you the safety net. You've got to show you're taking. your life into your own hands. If you do the crime, expect to do the time. But no, we're going to have these two. Yay, up next, the markets. Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving. into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal. A lot of what I see is just like chronic bloating, chronic stomach aches. Like I get a stomachache every time that I eat. And it just becomes like a
Starting point is 00:13:06 lifestyle where, oh yeah, you know, I just, I have a stomachache every day. Or I'm constantly feeling like gassy. And all of those things are not something that generally, if you have a healthy gut you should be living with. So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change. Here the full conversation, plus some fascinating facts about how gut health affects so much more than just your stomach on Beyond the Script, a podcast from CVS Pharmacy and IHeart Radio. Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. One sweet, melty bite of a Hershey's bar, and suddenly I'm right.
Starting point is 00:13:48 right back sitting on the front porch with my grandmother on a slow summer afternoon. She doesn't say much, just breaks the bar in half and hands me a piece. I open my mouth to say whatever a nine-year-old wants to say. And she replies with a low... Listen. So we sat there. Listening. That was the first time I learned that quiet can feel full.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Hershey's. It's your happy place. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. listening to hey this promises to be fun investors edge the last bastion of quality programming with Gary cult bomb it doesn't get better than this okay back in the late 90s Bill Clinton was accused with rape by a couple of women paid off a woman for a sexual assault paid her off it was like 700 grand there is an organization called the National Organization Woman now
Starting point is 00:15:00 There was a woman named Patricia Ireland who ran now at the time. And the reason I'm bringing this up because there are little things that you remember every now and then that are like, wow. She was on the Larry King show on CNN and was asked about it because you're the national organization of women. You're the defender of woman. You know what she said about Bill Clinton? But we like his politics. You get my point on mentioning Trump and what they're saying right now? Oh, yeah, he was found guilty of sexual abuse and battery, but, oh, this is going to help him.
Starting point is 00:15:44 Oh, it's a New York jury. Oh, couldn't be true. Wasn't true, even though none of you were there. I got news for you. I don't know if it's true. I just know the tank is killing us. People not seeing what's going on and just taking. the side.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And we're ending up with these two miseries. Oh, but he had some good policies. I couldn't give a crap. I can spend a few hours neck deep on other things. We've got to find leaders. And you know what that means? They care about us. Don't tell us you care about us.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Show us. It ain't with massive debt and deficits. It ain't with cursing everybody out. You know what a leader is supposed to do? Corral. Corral. You know what corral is? Engage the people who can't stand you and convince, regardless of what they do.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Oh, but they've been coming after me since day one. Are you a leader? Are you not? What are you? Ladies and gentlemen, we're screwed. we have two of the worst people possible that are going to be running one of them is going to win we'll be at 50 trillion of debt it's going to blow up both parties are going to blame each other we're going to be the victims just like we've been the victims of inflation and who know bubbles and bubbles
Starting point is 00:17:44 popping massive drawdowns in a lot of areas and you know what's happening the end up people end up fighting people because you're being led by that one. It's amazing. Last but not least. And here's another part of being screwed. Janet Yellen, she's our treasury secretary. In case you don't know, Janet Yellen was with the central bank starting with Bernanke when they really started to take over the markets and screwing us and giving all kinds of money to Wall Street that came from us. And we got nothing out of it, not a damn dime, not a freaking thing. and all these Wall Streeters that commit unspeakable fraud at the time, they kept their jobs and made billion cents doing what?
Starting point is 00:18:41 The same leverage that caused the problems in the first place. Janet Yellen, somehow now our Treasury Secretary, our Treasury Secretary that's supposed to be caring about our treasure. Raising the debt ceiling would be a way to show other nations we are not a deadbeat country. She was quoted on a CNBC interview and I'm thinking to myself, oh my gosh, this woman is so lucky I did not. do the interview when she said that. Besides all the other crap, she said.
Starting point is 00:19:14 You know, she's trying to get a global tax. She wants a global tax. She said, if we go to $52 trillion of debt, it's okay as long as we're fiscally something. What? They say Biden has dimensioned, whatever? This woman. Deadbeat?
Starting point is 00:19:35 Let me explain deadbeat to you. When you're $32 trillion of debt going to run $2 trillion in deficits, massive runaway inflation had to print $9 trillion to keep things running. Shall I continue what a deadbeat is? And you know the big excuse right now, ladies and gentlemen, the fun part. This is the fun part. Here's the excuse. We've got to raise the debt limit because we already spent this.
Starting point is 00:20:05 It's already spent. So ladies and gentlemen, here's what I want you to do. Go out and spend $25,000. bucks and then ask for the credit card you can't and this is our government ladies and gentlemen it's just one big gigantic screw job and they're not just spending they're growing they're growing leaps and bounds this nut job in dc wants to take federal spending from the year before covid 4.4 trillion to 6.8 trillion to me that's overnight because COVID doesn't count a 50s 55% increase depending on which abacus you use.
Starting point is 00:20:51 And our Treasury Secretary says if we don't raise the debt to pay for all this, that they say they've already spent, we're deadbeats. No, your deadbeats. We're fine. The people are great. We're all working our asses off. Every one of us. You know what my schedule is? I get up at 5.30 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:21:14 My dog is sleeping on my leg. I get up. First thing I do, I pick up my phone. I read the whole Wall Street Journal. I read the whole New York Times. I now read the Orlando Sentinel cover to cover. By the way, it doesn't take much time because you know what you can pass through. I get up, I screen the futures, see what's moving.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I go through the earnings reports. I handle whatever I got to handle, paperwork, clients, you name it, new clients, anything. I watch the markets all day. I scan the markets. If it's quiet, I go downstairs, get on my treadmill for 40 minutes. It's not very quiet, though. I got my little gym in here also. I'll work out, get that done.
Starting point is 00:21:57 4 o'clock, I do radio. In between during the day, whenever I'm called for, I do TV. The good news is I do it right from the office. I got the Orlando Digital Background. You know when I'm done with radio? Relax. Take it easy. And then I scan for an hour.
Starting point is 00:22:15 and then I do a webcast and then I put together for my next day. Why do I do so well? Because I work my ass off. Why do successful and wealthy people do so well? Because they work their tails off. Why do people that never had it so great then became successful and wealthy? Because they worked their tails off. And you know what these people in D.C. are doing?
Starting point is 00:22:45 They're kicking us in the grapefruits every day. Every single day. And when I hear Janet Yellen, I just want to vomit. Up next, we'll put a bow on it. Then we're ready. Then market wrap. I'm Gary. This is the one only investors edge.
Starting point is 00:23:03 Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. In this episode, we are diving into gut health with CVS pharmacist Victoria Motola, who explains why so many of us live with stomach issues we should not accept as normal. So that's when we deep dive. We deep dive into your medication. We deep dive into your OTC medication. And then at that point, we can probably identify something that we can change. Starting point is 00:24:26 Listen now wherever you get your podcasts. She doesn't say much, just breaks the bar in half and hands me a piece. I opened my mouth to say whatever a nine-year-old wants to say. And she replies with a low, listen. So we sat there, listening.
Starting point is 00:24:54 That was the first time I learned that quiet can feel full. Hershey's, it's your happy place. When I When I had Apprended some things Like the value of the family
Starting point is 00:25:05 The importance of the job And that the 99% of the people of more of 50 Yeah, you know the virus
Starting point is 00:25:11 that causes the Culebriya Although not all the people in risk it I do you I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:25:17 The eruption doorkes It's making that even the time even the things
Starting point is 00:25:22 are all a problem not about the Culebrilla to the doctor or
Starting point is 00:25:28 pharmaceutical patrocinoed for GSC. what the picture is? There's a debt ceiling meeting in the Oval Office. You know who is with? Chuck Schumer. He's been in D.C. since 1907. He's voted for all the debt. He's in there. You got Biden. You got this McCarthy guy who's a Republican, he's a speaker of the House now. What did he do when Trump had $6 trillion in debt? Here, no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. And they got the minority of the House. Hakeem J. Hakeem. J. referees, right? Another one. And you know what they're sitting there doing? They got their hands folded.
Starting point is 00:26:53 And they're sitting there taking the photo ops. But they're not showing the middle finger. Because it's sticking up right at us. They're conning us into believing that we have to raise the debt. More debt, more debt, more debt, more debt. more debt because we spent the money already you see how crazy this is you see the con the scam the scheme
Starting point is 00:27:26 we spent it already so we got to raise the debt can you do that imagine calling up chase right now credit card company hey I have no money but I just
Starting point is 00:27:44 They fronted me $25,000 worth of so-and-so. Can you give me a credit card for $25,000? I don't know when. I don't know at what point. We'll be ready. The markets will reflect it. Just letting you know. I told you I was going to depress you.
Starting point is 00:28:12 And I'll get mail from the Trumpians telling me, but he had great policies. I'll get mail from the left. saying how bad Trump is. Nobody, everybody's in the tank. Wait till you see what happens to, you think the border's bad now? Wait till next week.
Starting point is 00:28:34 You know Biden just ordered the military to the border. After a few years ago, Kamala Harris said, how dare Trump even think about doing that? Do you know cities around this country are coming out with emergency powers? because of migrants coming into their cities. They can't handle them. And Joe Biden sits there with a thumb up his butt.
Starting point is 00:29:04 By the way, we take no joy in saying any of this. We're just stating facts. If anybody wants to dispute one thing I have said on this show so far, email me. I'll debate it on air. We just stated facts. First trillion of our tax dollars is going to go towards interest. We're almost there.
Starting point is 00:29:28 880 billion last year. Oh, but who cares? Who gives a crap? Right? And just print more. Sure. Sure. The market wrap is brought to you,
Starting point is 00:29:50 the quieter market wrap brought to you by Investment-Models.com. That's Jim Roerbach, one of the great market timers. No gray areas with the man you're either in or out of the market. With his proprietary indicators, go check it out. investment dash models.com. The first thing I want to say is I saw somebody on TV today, a stock pundit saying you should buy Airbnb for four earnings.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Airbnb closed at 127. It's 114 in the aftermarket. Let's see if he comes back on TV and says, oh, I was wrong. Ladies and gentlemen, one of our mantras is we will never, ever, ever buy anything before earnings. Just letting you know. We ain't that smart. Dow down 57, S&P down 19. For a change, the NASDAQ down 77, NASDAQ 100 down 90.
Starting point is 00:30:45 The SOX down 56. The transports down 57. Advanced declines. Weren't the worst, weren't the best, but you're ready for this? New yearly lows more than new yearly highs on the New York and double. Well, it's more than double. There was 165 new yearly lows on the NASDAQ that show in 81 new yearly highs. But we know there's no 81 new yearly highs on the NASDAQ.
Starting point is 00:31:09 You know why. I'm scanning it right now. And at the bottom, I'm seeing about 30 SPACs that don't trade, that just sit at $10. And they include them as new yearly highs. About 30. And then there's probably about 10 or 15, what I call no sales biotechs that traded three bucks. Some trade at 30. I'll never even mention those.
Starting point is 00:31:34 And I don't know why they're even doing that. No sales biotex. But the little story today is they finally had not a great day with the mega cap tech. We've seen that before and then they write themselves pretty quick. When I say write themselves, it's not like they got any damage today. They just had a pullback day. And not much. Half percent on Microsoft, Oracle, half percent.
Starting point is 00:32:09 Apple 1 percent. But Apple just had that move on earnings. What's the other issue, though? We'll just repeat. In our universe, I still have 60 to 65, maybe close to 70 in down trends of different levels. And of the other 30 to 35, I'd say 10 are in good uptrends. Financial is not a good day today, and you know what our little theme on that is. Trust low.
Starting point is 00:32:40 No doubt we'll definitely have some great trading opportunities if you have the grapefruit. We don't. Pack West closed at 611 today. At the close two days ago, it was 317. You can make 100% on your money. Good luck. Yesterday it hit a high of 750, a low of 537 today. So there's that side too.
Starting point is 00:33:10 And of course it was 30 bucks a few weeks ago. Just overall, the financials are miserable. and part of what O'Neill teaches, they have this acronym CanSlim. The N is new, new management, new products. We always added the word new things, new changes. We think the banking industry is completely changed. You can't offer two-tenths of one percent cash when everybody knows you can get five percent. They were living off that and making big spreads off you. That's money coming out of
Starting point is 00:34:03 their. Just remember something. Jay Powell screwed you and stole a ton of money for you for a while. You got paid zero on your money, all because of one man and his wins. That's all changed. and I just worry about the businesses. I think most of these small banks will stay in business, but at what level? And I got to believe there's going to be a lot of consolidation going forward. Maybe three or four small banks in a certain area get together and make one. It's not going to really make anybody money, I don't believe, but I think a lot has changed. and this comes out of the distortions of one man.
Starting point is 00:34:51 And we haven't even mentioned them today. That was Jay Powell, playing God with your life, your money, and the markets. And you see what the outcome's been, and he's still running the show. That quack is still running the show. And it remains to be seen what other damage he's going to do. With real yields, the real market, the free market,
Starting point is 00:35:19 The one that's supposed to be going on without anybody's interference is 3.5% on the 10 year. He's at 5.5 and a quarter. But Gary, the short term are at 5.5 and a quarter, isn't that where you should be? No. If I were running the central bank now, my Fed funds rate would be 4.5. But we've got to fight inflation. Yeah, we'll see. Not much sticking out, housing stocks had a better day again today.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Housing is the leading group in the market. old rested. Up next, what else? This is the one only investors' edge. Hi, I'm Dr. Jake Goodman, host of Beyond the Script, the podcast where I sit down with pharmacists to answer the health questions you didn't even know you could ask at the pharmacy counter. So we sat there, listening. That was the first time I learned that quiet can feel full.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Hershey's, it's your happy place. At the age of the 50, I've learned some things, like the value of the family, the importance of the work and that the 99% of the people of more of 50 have the virus that causes the Culebrilla. Although not all the persons in risk will
Starting point is 00:38:31 they developeran, I see the eruption dolorous with ampollosures duros, making that even the tasks more simple are all a lot of a lot of trouble. Not learn about the Culebrilla of the way difficult.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Talked on your doctor or pharmaceutical, patrocinoed for GSC. You're listening to What are we waiting for? What are you waiting for? One, two, two, Ready go Investers Edge
Starting point is 00:38:58 With Gary Kaltba And welcome once again to Investors Edge I started the show depressing you But you know hey listen We just got to You know There's a lot of crap going on kids
Starting point is 00:39:24 And we repeat I'd like to see anybody argue With anything I said We just thought it was stunning But not surprising Oh yeah sure it helps when you're found guilty of sexual assault and battery yeah okay oh but we mean for running for president people are going to be pissed oh okay okay okay and by the way I won't argue the point
Starting point is 00:40:00 I'll laugh at it the markets remain range bound the markets one little issue and you know we watch very very closely the NASDAQ and the NASDAQ 100 and they've been trying to move above range
Starting point is 00:40:31 very much so and actually kind of tried and edged above today is not going to go down in the books is a good day for that when you have so many areas of the market as we state in bad shape.
Starting point is 00:40:51 All it really takes is the good stuff to top out and turn down in earnest. In no way, shape, or form has that happened. We're just letting you know we're watching. When markets decide to top from bull markets, they do it little by little piece by piece inch by inch. but this market if it starts the top from here
Starting point is 00:41:30 if this is an if it would not be topping from a bull market but from a recovery market so we will definitively be watching this close as all heck
Starting point is 00:41:54 love and hate in the market are very close closely related very closely related will be ready. There remain the housing stocks, big cap tech, mega caps. You've had a little better action recently in the software, software security yesterday from the news on Z scale, but very tough to put your foot on a lot of sectors in motion. A smattering of names in differing sectors.
Starting point is 00:42:41 consumer staples, the food, the drugs, and the like, and the beverage. They're acting fine. Some names are really going. Hershey's, Monster Beverage. But when we do our scans with no bias, the lists are short. And I will tell you, in the last few weeks, the list got shorter. even while we had a couple of good updates. We watch China closely.
Starting point is 00:43:15 The Chinese stocks here? Barish. We'll see what that means. Earnings. We don't care what anybody tells you on TV. Earnings are not very good. But the estimates have been beaten. If I expected a buck and then I lowered guidance to 25 cents
Starting point is 00:43:41 and then I came in at 40 cents, for somebody to come on and tell you, oh, good earnings, when earnings were down 40%. Just remember that. We're very careful of that. Remember, in bare trends, bare markets, they'll crumble anything losing money. Right now, it's a little more forgiving.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Not everyone, but a little bit more forgiving. That will change if we turn down again. That said, financials have already crashed but don't worry they're only financials when I hear somebody say regional banks if they go by the wayside everything
Starting point is 00:44:33 they'll be fine they're full of it they're the pipes so we're on watch on everything close to the vest there's leadership and let's hope it stays that way narrow markets can be taken advantage of
Starting point is 00:44:52 but if markets turn down narrow markets are easy to send down. So far, we're hanging in there. Still way off the highs on the NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100, Russell, 2000, don't get me started on the small caps. But this is a show me market. It's got a show. Bull markets are made of success, leadership, more and more names.
Starting point is 00:45:28 And not a day when New Yearly High swamp New Yearly lows on the NASDAQ and on the New York also. We know every characteristic of real good bull markets. We've never seen real good bull markets when the financials crash. And we can call it a crash. The regional banks crashed. Other things did too. We'll keep fingers crossed. We'll keep scanning and we'll find. as we have stated you can't hide strength it shows up
Starting point is 00:46:17 stay tuned sorry did the pressure out of the gate but I'm in a bad mood anyhow the Knicks played bad but got to deal with the real ladies and gentlemen got to deal with the real and get out of the tank have a great evening drive carefully when you get home do like we do
Starting point is 00:46:38 make sure you hug your family make sure you hug your children they will feel better you will feel better I think I'm on Cavuto tomorrow, noon to one.
