Starting point is 00:00:47 Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is Monday, March 3rd, 2025. Hope you're having a good day. hope you're not going to look at your 401ks today. It was a rough day, though, by the close, we bounced off the lows, but it was still not great. We'll cover it all. But first, in case you don't know this is serious talk about and everything that affects you, we'll do the markets, the economy, your job, your industry, Doge, the new administration,
Starting point is 00:01:21 the old administration, taxes, debt, deficits, scams, shams, corruption. You name it, we cover it. If you don't get this show in your city, this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com. We'll also post it on our Twitter feed, which is now X. And if you don't follow us on X, you should. And if you like to email us, just be nice. You know why? We'll be nice back.
Starting point is 00:01:40 And you know what's amazing? How some people have not been nice. Not you. But I'm on Twitter or X trying to be very constructive about some of the things the president is doing, and I get attacked for trying to help. People are insane. Just remember, nobody is 100% correct. Nobody is omnipotent.
Starting point is 00:02:03 People do get it wrong. What can I tell you? Okay. There's a few things I want to do first, and we hope you are listening. First off, the Doge moment. We start with that. And the best way I can explain it to you of how much of our tax dollars have just been, I'm going to use two words, given away.
Starting point is 00:02:36 We are finding out that 7,000 politically connected non-government organizations have 90% of all taxpayer money meant for nonprofits. Roughly $300 billion in government money flows to these non-profits every year with zero transparency on where that money actually goes. They act as a loophole to funnel billions. This is what's happened with this Stacey Abrams woman getting $2 billion of our dollars for climate. Do you remember we told you here for a couple of years when they came out with this inflation reduction at this $1.8 trillion, I said to you, oh, there's going to be people going into Delaware that are well connected and they're just going to start up companies having to do with climate.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Well, that's what she did. And that's what a ton of these people did. And I must tell you, they're lucky I'm not running the Justice Department, ladies and gentlemen, because we're finding so much crap out. It's not even funny. But also, on top of that, I don't know if you know this. The D.C. market is crashing, 21% because of people worried about their jobs. And I must tell you, I don't like the way. they're doing it. I don't like that they're doing it fast. I don't like they're saying,
Starting point is 00:04:01 oh, you got three days you're out. And I know this severance, but people that lose a job, I don't think these government workers are bad people. What I think are bad people, the ones that hired them, knowing that they overdid it to make the economy look better than it really was. I am 100% sure there are jobs out there that take 20 people, that there's 100 people out there doing the same job complete overlap that's your doge moment for today we'll continue with it tomorrow okay so uh well let me give out the final numbers the Dow was down 6499 today the S&P 104 the NASDAQ 497 the NASDAQ 158 the transports 284 the semiconductor Indicts down 191, but I can't say that's good, but I can tell you at what time today was 42-919-919.
Starting point is 00:05:07 The Dow was down at one point about 930. The market started bouncing back up about 340, but still finished down. The NASDAQ finished down 497 points. But at one time today, hit 18216, 130. Was that about 630? Nevertheless, it was a rough day. They came after a lot of things. I have yet to do my scans, but I can tell you,
Starting point is 00:05:50 I am beat red on my screens, except for food and beverage. Those are staples. Some insurance stocks, which have been strong. Some medical, defensive. And garbage collectors, defensive. And you know the places you get your blood or give your blood? Defensive. Or tobacco. And I don't know why that's defensive. And I still don't know how anybody smoke cigarettes boggles the mind. defensive. But the rest of what I'm seeing, it was rough. And I can tell you, the big selling started when the president had a conference. I was supposed to go on TV in the 2 o'clock hour, and he preempted me. I got knocked out. And he said those tariffs are starting tomorrow, and I think the market didn't believe it. So, tariffs. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry. I'm going to tell you the truth.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I'm going to be kind and not talk about what the president says, but I'm telling you the truth. The tariffs are a tax. China doesn't pay for the tariffs. Mexico and Canada do not pay for the tariffs. The people that buy the products from China, Mexico, or Canada pay for the tariffs. How do they pay for the tariffs?
Starting point is 00:07:22 it, they pay the treasury, and then they get to decide if they're going to have the consumer pay by raising prices. It's a tax. It's a higher tax. And when you keep changing the playing field, businesses cannot plan. Imagine if you are a business that, let's say, small business, that's two million in business and gets all your product from China. And all of a sudden, boom, 10%, but it turns into 20%. You're now buying your product, let's say for $10 a piece, you're now paying 12. 10 for the product, two to the treasury. Or you charge a consumer.
Starting point is 00:08:19 In any case, it is a tax, and it taxes the economy. And the president came out and said, tomorrow the 25% of Mexico and Canada, which are two biggest trading partners, the market swooned until the last 15 minutes, which has me wondering, after he's seeing the market, is he going to change his mind overnight? Which, by the way, and we're not putting him down for this,
Starting point is 00:08:41 we're making a statement he has done before and should not be. You can't keep moving the bar the goalposts while businesses are sitting there trying to conduct their businesses. So what we have all at once, you have an economy that's very weak. Thank you, Joe Biden. And you know why it's weak? It is the overhang of using the government to grow the economy. Joe Biden ran $2 trillion deficits, hired hundreds of thousands of people for government.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Every time they came out with an employment number, I would be sitting there saying, How many government jobs? So the overhang, I believe it's one of the worst times to put on tariffs on top of a weakening economy. And the market is kind of flushing it out. So very rough day. And remember what we've been telling you now for quite a while. economically sensitive stocks have been getting trashed and they trashed them again today and what I particularly noticed today and this is of import is the oils getting whacked again today
Starting point is 00:10:02 that is possibility of demand demand for less oil we'll see how that plays out and then just across the board we've already told you to avoid the housing and home builders and rails and truckers and rails and truckers and retail and semiconductors and the United Rentals and Caterpillar types and the AI names which just getting obliterated right now by the way NVIDIA was down today at the close today almost 11 bucks to 114 which has me shooting to the semiconductors ladies and gentlemen and I want to be careful about what I'm saying. I don't believe the numbers that are coming from all these companies saying that we're going to spend $500 billion and $400 billion and $300 billion. These numbers do not make sense to me.
Starting point is 00:11:04 I'll explain up next on Investor's Edge. Hi, I'm Gary Kalbaum, hosted a nationally syndicated radio show Investors Edge. Starting point is 00:14:21 going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Call. It doesn't get better than this. Okay. So, ladies and gentlemen, we're hearing some really big numbers.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Apple announced $500 billion their spending. The only problem is they have, I think, total capital base of $160 billion.
Starting point is 00:15:16 $500 billion is ridiculously unrealistic. Now, also in that note of $500 billion is normal spending that they do. I don't believe that $500 billion. I really do believe these companies are kissing the president's rear end. That's what I think's going on. There's no way. Let me go to the next one. Today, Taiwan Semiconductor had met with the president. We are going to invest $100 billion and open these plants in Arizona. $100 billion. Taiwan Semiconductor last year did $4959, $89, $87 billion in revenues.
Starting point is 00:16:13 but they're going to spend $100 billion here in the U.S.? What? How can you get return on investment? By the way, they do a lot of their business in Taiwan. I think they're blowing smoke, ladies and gentlemen. And if they say $100 billion, maybe in 20 years or 30, I'm just not buying those numbers. Which takes me to the next part of the equation on all these companies.
Starting point is 00:16:51 So a few Mondays ago, by the way, this is not a rib on the president. This is not a rib. They're actually making these announcements, and if I'm the president, I announce them. But there's just no way. Maybe my abacus is rusty. There's just no way. Microsoft, what are they, $400 billion? No way.
Starting point is 00:17:18 No way. These companies are smart. They have been profitable. They know how to be profitable. And that's by not crazy spend. But tactical. This is my opinion, which takes me to NVIDIA. So the first thing I want to tell you is everyone I meet,
Starting point is 00:17:47 their first question is, what do you think of NVIDIA, which means everybody still owns it? And Nvidia now is in a bare market. The 20% drop, as they say. The high was 153, closed at 114. What is that? 39. It's about 23%, 24.
Starting point is 00:18:09 And is down actually almost 20% from the high in June. And is trading where it was back last June. And my important point, I need to make. remember you know what we're about here we're not about opinion we're about the markets opinion its price its pattern the volume the strength and all we know is a few Mondays ago was deep seek Monday it was announced by China that they have something called deep seek it was January 27th that supposedly they're able to do and I'm gonna try him I'm gonna say this in the most juvenile
Starting point is 00:18:55 way like I'm a kid. They announced that they can do AI way cheaper than invidious chips and do it in a way that has great results. And the market opened up and trashed everything. They trashed the construction stocks that was so strong that was supposedly going to build out all these data centers we're hearing about, right? Wasn't it meta that said they're going to open a data center as big as Manhattan or something like that?
Starting point is 00:19:35 That ain't happening. The energy companies to run these data centers were strong as all heck. The semiconductor, the AI semiconductor stock, strong as all heck, they all gaped down. and all we heard for for days bull crap China's lying China this China that they're wrong
Starting point is 00:20:02 blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah and for a few days the market reacted the market okay and if something dropped 40 bucks it would rally up 25 take out anybody's opinion because I got news for you
Starting point is 00:20:26 I don't know. Deep Seek, you know, it's from China. Do you know when you try to put in Tiananmen Square did not show up? So obviously, China was playing with it. I have no clue. I've read up about AI, but I am not Stephen Hawking. I have an understanding of it, what may come of it and all that fun stuff. What I do know is all those stocks that got trashed that Monday and bounced up,
Starting point is 00:21:00 Most all of them have broke below that Monday, some much below that Monday, while analysts continue to fall all over themselves, saying everything's fine, not to worry, everything's cool, everything's good, don't believe what they're saying. China AI Deepseek is full of crap, own these stocks, but they keep going lower. Who keeps selling them? Who's smarter? The pundits and the analysts or the people actually managing big bucks that have brilliant people that don't tell us anything? but make moves in the market, we call it the big money, smart money crowd that followed judiciously. All I can tell you, as of this second, there is complete disagreement between the smart money and the yappers. They have bludgeoned a lot of those stocks.
Starting point is 00:22:37 C-E-G 352 to 232, 352 to 232, one of the energy stocks, GEV, how about 447 to 316, one of those energy stocks? You know about Nvidia. Up next, we'll expound. We hope things get better. This is the one only investor's edge. refreshes now. Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. Their zero-chafe thanks to four times more stretch than competing brands, and their innovative horizontal quick-draw fly is a game changer. With over 30 million pairs sold, there are thousands

Starting point is 00:25:12 at spreeker.com. Spreaker, because if you're going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy. with Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. So, as we said, let me expound. Those were some of the energy stocks.
Starting point is 00:25:56 What about the construction? How about Aeon 138 to 73, heating and ventilation companies, supposedly for data centers? Hmm. How about something called Argan, a 191 to 121? These are real moves, ladies and gentlemen. How about symbol fix? 553 to 345. This is heating and ventilation that they were going to do all this data center stuff. I think big stomachs and no appetite is what we're dealing with right now in the market. just talking about what the market believes. The market believes all these numbers that are being bandied about by all these companies on data centers and chips and the construction, and particularly the technology companies with these supposed numbers, the market believes they're
Starting point is 00:27:12 full of it. Let me take that back. The market believes they're wrong. The market believes they're exaggerating. That's a better way of putting it than full of it, right? Because saying they're full of it would connotate that I believe this like Stacey Abrams and the Biden corrupt machine. They're full of it. So, very rough day. On Friday, we had this really good reversal. And as of the close today, let's talk.
Starting point is 00:27:49 the NASDAQ. I am not making this up when I tell you that the NASDAQ 200-day moving average is at 18368. We finished at 18350, just about on it. After, by the way, hitting 18216. And for all the talk about the semiconductor chips, as we tell you here, every night, without fail, we will scan 80 semiconductor stocks. We separate them by what we believe is the importance and also which ones have the big AI. You take out the AI and brutal bare market for semiconductor chips which go into the economy in such big ways. And now the AI names, oops, also. And God forbid you couldn't keep up with the AI, you end up being advanced micro devices that have been touted to you like there's no tomorrow, 227 to 98 in the last year. I wish I had better news.
Starting point is 00:29:09 We deal in reality here and we deal in facts. And that was a pretty miserable day off the lows at the end of the day. I believe if the president changes his mind, which he has done. before. Let's say tonight he says, you know, we're going to put off the tariffs for a month because I had a conversation with Trudeau and
Starting point is 00:29:34 I don't know the person's name in Mexico. We'll open up a few hundred tomorrow. There's no doubt in my mind, if not more. But he came out today and said there's nothing that can be done at this point. So we'll see what happens.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Just a miserable day. The internals were gross at the end of the day. New yearly lows. You ready for this? 741 new yearly lows on the New York and NASDAQ. While the indices are not even close to the new yearly lows, the NASDAQ finished on the long-term 200-day moving average. The Dow broke below the 50 and that always is going to hold up better. The S&P in between the 50 and 200. The Russell 2000 looks like the New York Giants offensive line, not the defensive line. They were pretty good this year. The Midcap 400, about the same there.
Starting point is 00:30:39 The strength in the market right now decidedly is in Hershey's and Coke and Pepsi and the like, insurance stocks. China, also China is in pullback mode right now. just got very extended. And I must tell you, there are a few little outlets that are garbage stocks, waste management, as I mentioned. I will tell you, AT&T, T-Mobile, very strong. Where you get your blood at a lab core and the like. McKesson and Eli Lilly, strong. I was sticking all that crap.
Starting point is 00:31:17 Other drug stocks, Abbott Labs, Gilead, strong. But then you go into a lot. It's just, ugh. And what we do right now, as a business, we're just sitting on the greatest growth stocks that are holding up the best and waiting for a turn in the market. Unfortunately, they didn't hold up too much today along those lines. Even the strongest names, let's see, meta, down $13 today. And I think they're bouncing a little bit in the aftermarket. that would be normal if the day like today.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Spotify, very strong name, down $8 today, was down 12. I don't need to do more. And what I noticed also, Goldman Sachs down 17 today, J.P. Morgan was down percentage-wise rough day. So very tough day out there. I don't have great news to tell you. if anything changes will let you know markets on defense at this junction
Starting point is 00:32:26 fewer stocks working more stocks getting hit I think there's and by the way there's a couple other things going on there is something called the Atlanta Fed that tells you about GDP they were like 2 and a half 3% a couple of weeks ago they went down to minus 1.5%
Starting point is 00:32:42 now they think the economy's contracting to almost 3% contraction if that is the case maybe the market reacting to that, don't know. If we're going to recession and we get tariffs also, I think that's the worst of all worlds. Gold was strong today. Gold miners came down at the end of the day. They are stocks.
Starting point is 00:33:07 And I'm just looking around to see if anything else catches my eye. Just a lot of red. Just a lot of red. Just a lot of red. Hopefully tomorrow is better. I'm watching that now. very closely here. I gather they're going to do everything possible to defend it in the near term. They did it on Friday. And they did it near the close today. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Just a little treacherous right now. And I'm looking for light at the end of the tunnel. I gave you the names, the areas that are showing the relative strength, all very defensive. You know it was up in the Dow today? Johnson and Johnson, Coca-Cola, Merck, Procter & Gamble, Verizon. Everything defensive. You know, it was down a lot? Amazon 7, Caterpillar 11, Boeing 5, Salesforce.com 5, Home Depot 7,
Starting point is 00:34:19 Nvidia, as we said, 11. That tells you a lot. Johnson and Johnson, drugs and Band-Aids. Coca-Cola, you know what they do. Merck, drugs. Procter & Gamble, you know, all that household crap. Verizon. Oh, and Travelers is up, insurance.
Starting point is 00:34:40 And for the life of me, I don't know why insurance is doing so well, especially after those fires. What I try to do here is what's one plus one and try to get two? I don't get that. All I can tell you, maybe it's just the defense of the market right now. Insurance. Go figure. That would have not been my bet. because I know for a fact there's big costs in California.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Big costs in California. Serenity now, ladies and gentlemen. Serenity now. Bitcoin. The president announced a crypto reserve. They gapped it up and they sold right into it. Bitcoin is in a bearish phase also. Ethereum has been smoked to the downside.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Be careful. Please be careful. The IBIT opened today at 53, closed at 4890. That represents Bitcoin. Give you an example. Up next, news of the day. Whatever else today, I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge.
Starting point is 00:36:03 It's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. Starting point is 00:38:11 going to talk to yourself for an hour, you might as well publish it. You're listening to What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. In The Nestor's Edge with Gary Kaltb. Hey. In the news, why do we complain about the United Nations, that anti-Semitic, anti-Jew, anti-Israel suckfest? The 2025 United Nations Human Rights Council, we're not making this up, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 00:39:18 You would think we're lying. the United Nations Human Rights Council here are the members Cuba China Sudan you think I'm making this up do you want me to do the rest
Starting point is 00:39:35 I can do the rest but I think that's enough that's the human rights council Cuba they still drive cars from the 50s if you say something bad about the government, you go missing. Human rights counsel. China. Try saying something bad
Starting point is 00:39:59 about China. They put journalists in jail. You name it. Cutter. Aren't they housing a bunch of these Hamas creeps? Anyway, that's that. Ooh, I should have included this in the Doge. We'll repeat it tomorrow in the Doge. $4 billion of aid Our tax dollars
Starting point is 00:40:26 for poverty relief in Haiti since 2010 is missing. The audit of U.S. aid which shows a disturbing shortfall in funds surrounding ongoing relief projects in Haiti. This is what I'm talking
Starting point is 00:40:45 about. This is why Doge. In the news, oh, I like our governor. DeSantis. Ron DeSantis is trying to get rid of property taxes. You buy a home, pay off a mortgage over 30 years, and after all that, you're still writing a check to the government any year
Starting point is 00:41:11 just to live on your own property. Let's see what happens with that. That's an interesting way of putting it. I didn't even think of that. In case you didn't know, in the last 10 years, Apple has bought back $673 billion of their own stock, which is greater than 488 companies in the S&P 500, which is an amazing...
Starting point is 00:41:35 That is amazing story. In the news, Microsoft, and this is what I'm talking about, channel checks indicate Microsoft is canceling U.S. data center leases amid potential oversupply. What worried have I used for you that I said I'm worried about? oversupply. Our channel checks indicate that Microsoft has canceled leases in the U.S. totaling a couple of hundred million Ws, whatever that is, with at least two private data center operators.
Starting point is 00:42:20 And is a whole big story about it, about KAPX and stuff. Just letting you know. I think that's out there. Microsoft is breaking monstrous support in the last weeks. Monstrous at 400 bucks. Just letting you know in the news. Have I depressed you yet today?
Starting point is 00:42:49 Ladies and gentlemen, sorry, but we just believe in the real. We believe in the real. And I put on Twitter, I wish the president had my ear. There would be no tariffs right now. It's not a good time. but he doesn't even know who I am, and I doubt he would listen to me. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Just remember, we love lower taxes and less regulations.
Starting point is 00:43:21 We love Doge, though we're not happy with some of the ways they are going about it when it deals with human beings. I just don't think you kick them in the ass right out the door. It affects people. Hopefully they'll do better on that. Don't get me wrong. They need to do a lot. And there are too many government workers created by the past.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Especially Joe government Biden. And that is the news. I have absolutely no clue what tomorrow brings. but I do know the NASDAQ is an important juncture, so maybe they'll bounce it. They certainly did today. We opened hot. We sold off. We rallied back up.
Starting point is 00:44:21 We really sold off until the last, what, 20 minutes, and we bounce back. But still, the final numbers, ew. Dow down almost 650, S&P 104. NASDAQ 497, NASDAQ 100, 458, transports 284. The semiconductors, 191, and that is a big outch. And I just don't trust all these big numbers being reported by these companies. I believe, I really do, and I really do, ladies and gentlemen, I think they're blowing smoke to impress the president.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I believe there is no chance of a hundred billion dollar investment in the states by Taiwan semi. 500 billion by this guy and that guy. I hope I'm wrong. Right now, the market does not believe them. And when we do this show, priority is on the market. If things change, we will let you know. But today was an ew day, a yuck day. We were hoping for better, especially with the really good clothes on Friday, the big jam into the clothes.
Starting point is 00:45:59 If any of you have the president's ear, you tell them, Gary says, put off the tariffs right now. And give him my email address. You'll have a great evening drive carefully, and when you get home, do like we do. Make sure you hug your family. Make sure you hug your children. They will feel better. You'll feel better. Good night, all.
