Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum.
Straight talk about you and your money.
Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Coltbaum.
And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host day.
Thanks for being with us today.
Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening.
It's Tuesday, September 22nd, 2006.
Hope you having a good day for those who celebrated.
Hope you had an excellent and easy fest.
during Yom Kippur.
I want to thank Adam for doing the show last night as I was in my day of
atonement.
And he wants to talk about today.
Things that we needed to talk about yesterday that Adam covered.
And we will go through them today.
On the show today, we shall talk about the president, as always, because he is in the
news big time.
we shall talk about, hmm, meta, stock we haven't had to talk that much about.
We're going to talk about Obamacare.
Another unforced error that this administration is doing, that by the way, you know,
we talk about this show that'll affect you and, well, if you're on Obamacare,
you may be one of looking.
And as you know, we were, Obamacare was a big, fat, juicy lie.
brought to you by Obama, just letting you know.
All you got to do is look up, what was his name again?
Darn it.
I got to remember his name.
It'll come to my mind, one of the architects that said that they had a lie to the American public Obamacare to get it passed,
and the reason they were able to lie is because we were stupid.
Darn, it's on the tip of my tongue.
It'll come to me in a second.
And of course, we'll do the markets, the economy, your job, your industry, the Morlocks in D.C. and the pundits that protect them.
And whatever else.
And if you do not get this radio show in your city, we'll post at garyk.com.
We'll also post it on our X feed.
And if you don't follow us on X, you should.
If you like to email us, just be nice.
Just be respectful because that's the way we will be back unless, as we always say, you like Hamas, robbed a bank today.
beat somebody up or you're a terrorist.
We'll have a problem with you.
All right.
So first off, yesterday.
Let me be clear about yesterday.
It was what I call a very important moment in the markets.
It was where the NASDAQ and the NASDAQ 100 jumped, moved above range, and
change the complexion to offense on the NASDAQ and NASDAQ 100 doesn't mean it has to be
everything, but it was on the move. The same goes for the semiconductor index, but a little less so.
It's not as strong as the big indices, but the socks ramped through the 50-day moving average on
Friday and confirmed it yesterday and has done nothing today to dissuade any of the 50-day.
of what happened yesterday as we're getting more push in spite of, listen carefully.
Over the weekend, if I had a dime for everybody who wrote up that we were going to walk in
yesterday and they were going to crash the semiconductors and artificial intelligence, that's how
many people wrote about it, all hell's going to break loose, and instead, it was bought up
with a fervor.
And as I speak, the NASDAQ right now is at an all-time high.
The all-time high was 27-190.
It's 27-270, up 148.
The NASDAQ 100, the old high, was 3762, 30,
comma, 762.
It's right now 30, 739.
So that's close also.
And if you look at a chart of both the NASDAQ and NASDAQ 100, big move up the right side, big move above near term resistance, big move towards the all-time highs.
And another good day today, which kind of started out slow, but's building throughout the day.
my expectation is that there's going to be more points put on the scoreboard in the NASDAQ NASDAQ 100 semiconductors.
Why?
Because when we do our scans, the weight of the evidence has more and more names turning up the right side.
And all that means is, well, it's tough to draw.
how about drawing a line from 10 o'clock down to 4 o'clock,
then take that line and go horizontal,
and then take that line and start going back up from 7 o'clock to 2 o'clock,
then go flat again, and then bust out.
That's what the NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100 did, and a lot of names.
because those indices have names in it.
And as I speak today, another very good day for those areas.
That said, listen carefully.
I got 70% of the market looks like crap,
and I've got the financials today getting blitzed.
The financials are getting hit hard today.
and I mean real hard.
Some names are getting kicked in the teeth today.
And typically financials are an important area of the market.
So how is the NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100 and the semi-conductions going up while the financials are getting kicked in the teeth?
Answer is, beats the hell out of me.
All we want to do is follow the bouncing ball.
And we would continue to avoid everything financials.
And I think what you have, if I was a guess,
you raise rates on the short end as the long end comes down a little bit and that squeezes margins
and there you go maybe that's the answer i don't know and then all the other areas which we've been
telling you to void are bouncing but are still in downtrends we'll get into those in a little bit
i want to talk about my luck i i'm not afraid to tell you when we have bad luck good luck and sometimes
you have good luck. Do you know on Wednesday of last week? I write notes to myself and I wrote down at
about two o'clock. If today finishes bad, I am selling my big position that I had in the NASDAQ 100.
That's last Wednesday. Last Wednesday, the NASDAQ, NASDAQ, 100 were actually breaking down
out of near-term basis, though on a relative basis was much stronger than these other areas.
You know, the broad market that we've been complaining about.
And then by chance, in the 3 o'clock hour, and really at 3.30, the market bounced,
but the NASDAQ and NASDAQ 100 bounced to where they finished up on the day.
So I said, okay, we'll keep it.
Our NASDAQ 100 position, and it's a sizable position from the low that day, which was at 3 o'clock in four days and an hour, up almost 7%.
Pure luck. We were ready to sell. In fact, I entered the order into my system to sell.
and I was just waiting to see how the day finished.
That's my story on the NASDAQ 100.
I lucked out.
Sometimes you luck out.
Do you know if we had a bad finish?
I'm out.
And then possibly the next day, Thursday,
we walk into a big gap and I'm ripping my hair out.
If we didn't have that last hour move,
I am ripping my hair out.
Anyway, that's my little story on the NASDAQ 100.
So just letting you know, NASDAQ, NASDAQ,
NASDAQ, Semiconductors, some software names,
very strong in the last few days.
And getting better as I speak to you,
simple as that.
there's your strength
how much I don't know
how far we don't know
and to be clear about it
all the news is crap
if I
tell you how many reports are out
to sell the semiconductors
to sell the artificial intelligence
to sell
the software to sell technology
get the hell out
I cannot be
begin to tell you, and I guess that may be good news because we believe in what the big institutions
are doing. And I got to tell you, they're sopping up shares of technology. And we'll see
where it goes. Up next, the rest of the market, a little bit different. This is the one

Investors Edge.
The last bastion of quality programming.
With Gary Coltbaum.
It doesn't get better than this.
And welcome once again to Investor's Edge.
So, put technology to the side where we lucked out.
Before this week, we have been telling you,
avoid everything consumer.
and in fact late last week they crashed by the way we don't use the word crash often they crashed
the automobile dealers they crashed the stocks the automobile dealers uh... automobiles
uh... automation went from 200 to 170 in a day that's a crash in my opinion
right what's the other one i saw um was it
CarMax? No. It may have been lithium motors. Lithium motors in three days when 370, it's 310. You get the point. But that's on top of we told you to avoid retail. And that's been going on a while, except for a few names. What are we telling you on retail? Well, Abercrombie and Fitch is strong. Best Buy is strong. Target is strong. In the past, Ralph Lauren was strong, but topped out in
Crumbled. In the past, Ross store was strong topped out and crumble. TjX was strong topped out and crumble. So we avoid retail. We told you to avoid travel. Cruise lines, airlines, hotels. The booking holdings Expedia, we've been telling you to avoid. We've been telling you to avoid. We've been telling you to avoid.
and truckers and other transports, not all.
We've been telling you to avoid the casinos,
even though there's maybe two or three of them.
We've been telling you to avoid the restaurants.
And there had been a couple of restaurants that were strong,
and they topped out and croaked.
We've been telling you to avoid,
I did say the airlines, right?
well we'll leave it at that because that's a lot of the consumer oh economically sensitive names the industrial types and if you look at the x l i boy what a big topping out on that that is an et f for the industrial types and then there's the material types xlb same thing well oh did i mention housing oh yeah housing big time avoid well well they've
bounce them a little bit in the last couple of days. But as I peruse them, they look like
bounces in bearish phases. Simple as that. And it's helped the market a little bit. Well,
the Dow is up 300 yesterday. Dow is down today. Dow is down today. So you're getting some bounces
in some of these areas, but I got to tell you, I can't find a bullish trend in any names. They're all,
Oh, down 30 points up four type of thing.
And remember, just a little week or so ago,
we had a thousand new yearly lows.
And as I speak today,
and the NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100 is up nicely,
believe it or not,
there's more new yearly lows than new yearly highs on the NASDAQ.
And that's with the NASDAQ at new yearly highs
and the NASDAQ 100 almost.
And new yearly lows on the NYSC,
See, more than two to one to the lows.
Not good.
So just letting you know, while we've rallied in some of these areas,
and by the way, the housing-related's having a good day today.
Well, when you have the ITB, which is home construction,
go from 101 to 88 and bounce 3%, not impressed.
the XHB 111 to 96 and bounces 2.5% not impressed.
But we'll take any type of bounce, right?
Right?
Sure.
The story is semiconductors, miscellaneous software.
We've actually even told you what the list is here.
And a smattering of other technology leading the way right now.
While most everything else is left in the dust,
though some areas are bouncing.
But that's all I can give them is a bounce.
Do you understand that?
Down 10 up 3, down 8 up 2, down 16 up 5.
That doesn't change trends.
United Rentals today up 14?
Well, it just dropped 100 points.
so let me repeat
semiconductors
NASDAQ
NASDAQ 100
and some of the
not all
artificial intelligence
not as strong as the semiconductors
in fact some are actually
damn weak
and there you have it
if anything
changes will let you know
are we surprised
you damn straight we are.
We're very surprised.
It came out of nowhere.
Yesterday,
on the open,
boom.
Boom.
We're thrilled.
We're overweight
in those areas.
And hopefully,
more to come.
You never know.
They can stop dead in the tracks tomorrow
in Croke.
That's why we sit at our desk and keep watching.
And let me repeat something.
I can't begin to tell you how many ports were reading
that would scare the living crap out of you.
How would you even buy a semiconductor reading some of these reports
that the end of the world is coming on artificial intelligence?
Oh, and by the way, last Monday, that whole thing,
the market shot the middle finger
at the chiefs of the AI companies that said
humanity is going by the wayside
last Monday
they were killing these stocks
it was over
it was history we were out of here
not not by the way
I just got a report here from Bloomberg
Nvidia's stock is flashing a warning sign
These are the report
That's all I read right now
I don't have any positive reports
on technology stocks right now
Not a one
Yet
They were bought up very nicely again today
Tomorrow is another day
We'll keep you informed
But breakouts and indices
Usually are on the meaningful side
breakouts in indices and sectors
usually meaningful. Hey up next.
Oh, let's do the oils and the dollar and yields and whatever else.
This is the one only Investor's Edge.
We're listening to.
America is talking.
Investors Edge.
He's got to be pleased with that.
The crowd is just on his feet here.
He's a Cinderella boy.
With Gary Coltbaum.
highly recommended you're gonna feel better if you talk to and welcome once again to
investors edge so you ready the NASDAQ was up 122 the very semiconductor laid nassadne
NASDAQ 100 up 250 and the Dow was down 185 do you know why the Dow was down 185 American Express
down 8 and change financial
Goldman Sachs down 10.
Financial.
JP Morgan down 12.
Financial.
I don't know what.
It's a guess of mine why they're blasting the financials.
And to be clear, normally when the financials are gagging like they are, it is bad for the market.
Well, there's plenty of bad areas, but semiconductors and technology,
lesser the artificial intelligence,
doing the job,
at least by the clothes today.
The socks was up another 256 to 12-6-8-9,
and just to give you an idea what it has done
since that low Wednesday when I was holy crapping,
it's up 13%.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, I take it back.
Yeah, 13%.
helping out big time.
The socks is not near the highs, though, but has been coming on.
And may I be clear about this?
There are 75% of my screen on the semis are stocks that are just way, way down and dead
versus some of the big names.
Yields.
Yields backed off, but I got to tell you still in a pretty major uptrend.
And the backing off doesn't look like much.
oil prices.
Oil prices in spite of the president.
I'm going to annihilate them.
Another good day to the downside.
Yay.
Remember something.
Very important, ladies and gentlemen,
they are going to do everything
to get oil prices down into the election.
I don't know what that is.
And they're going to try to do it on the yield front also.
But I can tell you the USO,
which is an exchange traded fund for oil,
has gone in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 days.
163 to 144.
That's a nice drop.
At the pump, you'll see it in the next 10 to 12 business days.
If it sticks, of course.
Do I need to even...
Oh, crypto broke out again.
Another stair step to the upside.
I have no idea why.
The cryptocytes are out smiling again
and telling you it's going to a million within three weeks.
Okay, that's sarcasm.
We just discuss it on a technical basis.
The bottom was put in mid-August,
went up for three days, sat for about three to four weeks.
Yesterday, gapped up above that range,
and we'll see where it decides to take.
us. That's the Bitcoin, the Ethereum, and some of the names like Coinbase and Robin Hood and things
like that. Gold, very disappointing, but holding the 50-day moving average, the GLD really needs to
get above 403 in change. It closed at 400 today. Really needs to get above that just for starters.
Next, just letting you know, META came out with this AI Muse.
Stock was up 75 bucks yesterday.
It was number one on the Apple store or something like that.
And then a company announced that they are doing business with the Mews.
That's Shopify.
And Shopify was up 7% today.
So there's just another.
You know, you never know what's going to come out of the woodwork, make some announcement.
This artificial, oh, by the way, the president says it's no longer artificial intelligence.
It's super intelligence.
He's changing the name.
Terrific.
Terrific.
Let's see.
Anything else?
Boy, I really think I covered it.
The software names, the software security, still pretty good, very good day yesterday.
A stock called Twilio, TWLO breaks out yesterday, up another 7% today.
Others pretty much kind of sitting after a good day yesterday.
And just the broad market sucks.
Advanced decline stink.
Better yesterday.
The oils are pulling back.
That's normal.
Oh, by the way, defense stocks are crashing.
Why?
Because the president's not annihiling anybody.
the boy who cried wolf.
How many times is he going to annihilate Iran?
Anyway, he did a speech today at the UN, and I must say there's a lot of things I agreed with him.
He talked about, we are never going to do global taxes that they want, the scam of climate change.
I love that the president brought that up.
One of the great scams for your dollars ever out there.
Of course, the climate changes.
Duh.
And just remember, they started with global cooling.
Go look it up.
Don't believe me.
Go look at the front covers about global cooling from decades ago that they told us if we don't believe in global cooling, we're a bunch of ass clowns.
And then it became warm.
So they changed it to global warming.
And if we didn't believe in global warming, we're ass clowns.
And then we had big blizzards around the globe for a year.
So they're like, oh, boy, we look.
stupid. They got into a room with an advertising and a marketing company. Wait a man, how we get
able to market this and confiscate money around the globe. We got to come up with a, oh, let's go with
climate change. If it rains, it's climate change. If it, if it snows, it's climate change. If it's hot,
if it's cold, if there's tornadoes, the hurricanes, you know the hurricane season right now
has been very calm. What's going on?
it's climate change. Oh, if we get a few hurricanes, it's climate change. Just remember,
there are a bunch of scammers, Al Gore's worth a two, 300 million bucks off of it now,
tire some people. Of course the climate changes. And I got news for you. We've had ice ages.
We've had warm. You know, we can do as environmentalists. Just continue to do goodbye the environment,
and do the right thing.
And you know what?
Green energy is around the globe.
Corporations are doing the right thing.
Terrific.
Don't buy into their BS, ladies and gentlemen.
So he did the speech today.
Of course, I'm going to be nice today to the president.
So he embellished 70% of the time.
I stopped eight wars.
Yeah, right.
They've invested 20 trillion bucks with us.
Yeah, right.
With the golden age, year right, where the greatest economy ever, year right.
Okay.
He was marketing to the world.
We'll be nice to him today.
Anyway, that was the UN speech today.
And he kind of mentioned China and AI.
And the camera went on to the Chinese delegation.
You should have seen their faces.
Just no emotion whatsoever.
I don't think China's are.
enemy. I think they can be our friends. I don't know where all that comes from. Everybody's the enemy.
Didn't you know that? Anyway, so he did the speech and I don't know what to tell you.
I'm rooting for the guy, but you know what? There's too many things he's done that just pissed me off.
Yeah, we'll see how it goes. Anyway, we were happy with other things.
He ripped on socialism and communism, but of course Trump is one of the great socialists of all time as president of the United States.
We've proven that time and time again.
Hopefully one day we get somebody who's not a socialist in the White House.
We'll see what happens in 28.
And on to the election we go.
I think we're only 40 some odd days away.
And I can tell you the poll numbers.
for the Republicans are about as good as my fantasy football team right now.
I am 0 and 2.
And you know who Byron Donald's is?
He's running for governor of Florida.
He has been a, yeah, I can use the word sycophant of Trump.
Always complimenting him, nothing bad.
He has wiped Trump off of his campaign website,
completely.
Any reference, any pictures of Trump
off his website, and that's what other candidates
are doing. I told you
up next.
A little bit of that
and whatever else. This is the one
only Investor's Edge.
You're listening to
What are we waiting for?
Well, what are you waiting for?
One, two,
ready, go.
Action!
In Investors Edge.
With Gary Culpa.
So,
As we have said to you here and as unbiased as we are, we can really see things a lot better than everybody else.
And we've been telling you that Trump is killing the Republican Party.
And now somebody like Byron Donald's just takes them off his website.
Nobody's even talking about him anymore.
And as we have told you, there are two things that have happened that is crushing the Republicans.
Number one, the independents have run for the hills.
and Trump won the election because of independence.
They're running from the hills because you cannot sit there and say,
affordability is a con while you and your family are making billions of dollars off of the government.
That's number one.
Number two, you cannot pardon a bunch of crooked fraudsters,
get millions of dollars from them,
and then say you're fighting fraud.
your independence are going to run for the hills.
You can't say you're for lower taxes, but you are for tariffs.
Independents are going to run for the hills.
And guess what?
Independent polls have just sank to the ground for the party.
And then there's the Latinos.
Latinos put them over the top.
Well, Latinos loved that you close the border.
Latinos want to close border.
But then Latinos loved, you're going to deport criminals.
Latinos don't want criminals here, but then you deported anything that moved.
And what do we mean by that is I've told you?
I can't open up a report and it says a 70-year-old man was taken on the street and put in handcuffs and taken away and sent to a country.
been to and it turns out he's been here for 35 years living well paying taxes wife kids
grandkids running a business and you just send them out and he's Latino and you think Latinos
are going to be happy and then you times that by how many they've done it they went overboard there is
something you can say whatever you want and I know people that want every person that's illegal
out of here. We disagree with that. We believe in humanity. We believe in means testing. We really do.
They're here. If they live the American dream here, they're here. And I guarantee I'm going to get
emails clashing with me, and that's okay. I'll respect your opinion. Hopefully you respect mine.
Anyway, those two things has destroyed the election, and I got news for you.
Are you ready for this?
You got that Jew-hating, Israel-hating punk in Michigan winning by seven points.
Do you know that?
I'm not making this up.
Texas, they put up Paxon.
This guy is corrupt as corrupt can be.
Guess what?
Democrat, Senator, in Texas.
That's going to happen.
And I can go on.
They're going to lose the Senate, I think.
And that should have been a gimmie.
And now, even more, you're ready for this?
How many days to the election?
40-something?
The Trump administration is cutting 750,000 enrollees from Obamacare now.
Now!
Now, they're claiming that many were receiving premium subsidies they did not qualify for,
and that some were not even real people.
You know what the problem with that is?
Some!
S-O-M-E!
You remember they pardoned the whole J-6?
Do you think they should have done that, all of them?
The ones that beat the crap out of cops?
Pardon them?
I wouldn't have.
Well, now he's 750, just one fell swoop.
That'll get votes.
And as you know, we think Obamacare was one big giant lie, but we're in the here and now.
Anyway, that's the latest.
That's the latest.
And I got news for you.
We don't want anybody on Obamacare that are not real people.
We don't want people getting premium subsidies that they did not qualify for.
but when you're throwing everything against the wall at once,
and that's what these people are famous for this administration.
So come November, hell going to break loose for the party, and that is all.
And as you know, I can't stand the Democrats.
They're nauseate the hell out of me, and they're so illogically stupid and do nothing for nobush.
but this party in Trump unforced error after unforced error and a massive missed opportunity.
Here you go, El-Sayed up by 7 in Michigan.
And there's also a Democrat up eight in Iowa.
A state Trump won by 13.
A 21 point difference with 40 some odd days to go.
Oh, it's going to be a fun two years.
I'll give you the best news.
We can have gridlock.
Your handsome and buffed toast loves gridlock from these people.
40 trillion of debt, $2 trillion a deficit says so.
But we segue back.
Great day for semis in NASDAQ, NASDAQ,
NASDAQ 100 again.
Terrible day for financials and insurance.
bouncing in some of the consumer areas, but again, not impressing me.
Very, very not thrilled with how yields have pulled back, but they look like they still want to go higher.
Love that oil prices have crumbled over the last few days.
Let's hope that continues.
And tomorrow's another day.
And I'm going to be watching these financials very closely because very often,
they auger trouble. But right now you have a big time rotational market going on. So not a biggie.
We'll just stick to what is and avoid the heck out of what isn't. You have a great evening, drive
carefully. When you get home, do like we do. Quite simple. Make sure you hug your family,
hug your children. They will feel better. You will feel better. I promise they will be well.
Until tomorrow. Peace out all. Good night.
