Starting point is 00:00:00 For delicious meals, you could go out to eat or spend hours in the kitchen. Or you could just make a Marie Callender's meal. Yeah, you heard me. Marie Callender's classic chicken parmesan bowl is delicious with scratch-made marinera sauce, creamy mozzarella cheese, and no preservatives. It's high in protein with 30 grams per serving. Marie Callender's, what having it all tastes like. Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the Biz Talk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colp. I'm your host. A thanks of being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening. It is Friday, October 25th, 2004.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Hope you having a... Good day. Hope you have a good weekend, as always. Serious talk on everything that affects you. And we know we don't have 100 million people listening to this show, but we have a decent audience, but not enough. Why? Serious talk.
Starting point is 00:01:20 We do the markets, and we do them well. We do the economy. We do them well. We do the election with no bias. We'll do the Morlocks in D.C. with no bias. simple as that and we'll cover that today and if you do not get this radio show in your city
Starting point is 00:01:40 we'll post it at gary k.com we'll also post it on our Twitter feed which is now x and if you don't follow us an ex you should I posted a picture of my father on his 93rd birthday 300,000 views how's that and if you'd like to email me
Starting point is 00:01:57 just be nice alright let's get through it number one my stance has not changed if the election was today Donald Trump is winning We started telling you this about Was it last Tuesday? We held off, didn't want to say too much We wanted to get closer, get a better feel
Starting point is 00:02:17 And we think we're right And a lot of people are coming around to it But there's always the big butt It always will be about turnout And you never know But everything I am seeing Is Trump is winning if he does not win, the Republicans better get the Senate or keep the House because we cannot continue the trajectory of this young lady who has basically created a whole different persona out of thin air with her minions.
Starting point is 00:02:53 everything she's ever believed in has changed not a little bit but polar opposite but she tells you she hasn't she hasn't changed her values we cannot continue to have massive debt massive deficits gargantuan growth of government and a promise
Starting point is 00:03:15 to confiscate the wealth of this country like she is actually promised and I really do believe the reason why Trump is winning now several fold. Number one, she's stupid in that she's proposing tax hikes. And she can talk blue in the face. Oh, it's only for the wealthy and the privilege view, but she's proposing tax hites.
Starting point is 00:03:37 He's proposing tax cuts. People keeping more of their money. Prices. Prices. You do recall that they lied and said when they came into the White House that the inflation was at 9%. no it was 1.8% and a year later it was 9%. And of course, then they blamed everybody and everyone.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Immigration. They lied again. And of course, Trump has completely mishandled this. I'd be up 15 points on her by now. The media, of course, is never going to help. They're full of crap. For three years, they opened the border. And they did it on purpose.
Starting point is 00:04:24 On purpose. And they were proud of it. Mayorkas came out, was proud that they got rid of all the Trump regs and all that stuff. And for three years, they're on video. There's hundreds of videos saying the border is secure. But now you hear her saying that, yeah, the border has been a problem for 10 years. But for three years, she said it was secure. On prices, they said it was transitory.
Starting point is 00:04:50 And then this crime. You do know they had a debate with the ABC hack. and Trump said that crimes up and the ABC hack came out and said, no, crimes down. The FBI came in and said, no, crimes up. And they're wondering why blacks and Hispanics are moving towards Trump away from them when she hasn't said a word on crime. Do you know what's happening in inner cities right now as far as crime? It's insanity in some places.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Oakland, people will not go out at night. Sam Fran, Portland, my peeps in Portland, email me every day about what's been going on there. New York City, everything's locked up in the drugstores. So I believe all that. And again, I repeat something, I mean this. If there was a candidate on the Republican side right now that was not as divisive and hated by up to 50% of the country, and there was somebody that was not Trump.
Starting point is 00:06:06 It would be over big time by now. Over. Which takes me the next part of the equation. A lot of people are up in arms. Hillary Clinton last night on CNN said that Trump's get together with Americans in Madison Square Garden is going to be like the Nazi get together in the, I believe it was the 30s. No, she said that. And the media kind of sort of, the media should be so pissed off at her, it's not even funny,
Starting point is 00:06:43 for saying something as disgusting as that. There's going to be 20,000 people there rooting for Trump, and she's saying it's a Nazi get-together. And of course, they call him Hitler, this, Hitler, that, fascist, this, fascist, this, fascist, that. You know why I'm not up in arms? this is normal by the way they did it to McCain
Starting point is 00:07:06 when McCain ran for president he was mentally ill because he was a POW they did it to him they did it to Romney they did it to Palin they did it to Bush they did it to Dole they did it to the other Bush they did it to Reagan
Starting point is 00:07:23 it's all the time once they get desperate you're Hitler that's all and you know what we think. I don't care if you're a Republican, Democrat, or Whig Party. Leave Hitler out of it. He's one of the, if not the worst person that ever lived. And to compare somebody to him, the animal killed 12 million people, six million Jews. And you know how he did it, right?
Starting point is 00:07:56 They did experiments on people. They burned them in the gas chamber. Go to Auschwitz and go into the rooms where they have the hair of people and suitcases and eyeglasses. Last I look, Trump didn't murder 12 million people. Six million Jews. But no, he's Hitler. It doesn't, it's normal for them. Why? What's their game?
Starting point is 00:08:25 Higher taxes. More rules, more regulations, more fees, my fines, more mandates, more control over your lives, more telling you that you need them or else. That's their game. And I wish it wasn't. And of course, then there's Israel, Iran, and there are whatisms and buddisms on it. They ain't speaking up about the universities
Starting point is 00:08:56 where students are getting threatened. They're not speaking up about it. And by the way, they call Trump Hitler. He's the guy with the Abraham Accords. Jerusalem, I can go on. So they can talk blue in the face about that. And I can't even go over the things Trump says anymore because it's so much nonsense on a daily basis. So much of it doesn't make sense and people still give them a standing ovation.
Starting point is 00:09:26 It's a default setting. And the fact of the matter is, I don't believe he's winning. I believe the Marxist party is losing. They're dumb, Hillary Clinton. Who gives a crap what she thinks? And then the celebrities. Who cares? I love Bruce Springsteen.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I've seen him like seven, eight times. I don't give a crap who he's voting for. I used to watch Oprah all the time. I don't give a crap who she's voting for. And stop telling me you're for the regular people when you live in 30,000 square foot homes. We did a whole dissertation on the show yesterday about the climate scam and the billions that are missing. These are the things that people are watching and getting pissed off about. Enough.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Telling people you cut the deficit and you're running record $2 to $3 trillion deficits. Enough. And that's how you end up with Trump. I can guarantee you if they did a good job on the left the last four years, Trump would be dead right now. He'd be a goner. He's not a good candidate. But he's not as bad as them.
Starting point is 00:10:46 and her who, by the way, once polled, what was in the primary, got 1% of her own party? So they blew it. But you never know. There's less than two weeks left. I can be wrong. Up next, lots of news, markets, much more. I'm Gary. This is the one only Investor's Edge.

APUS.edu. One sweet, melty bite of a Hershey's bar and suddenly I'm right back sitting on the front
Starting point is 00:14:06 porch with my grandmother on a slow summer afternoon. She doesn't say much, just breaks the bar in half and hands me a piece. I open my mouth to say whatever a nine-year-old wants to say, and she replies with a low, listen.
Starting point is 00:14:22 So we sat there, listening. That was the first time I learned that quiet can feel full. Hershey's, it's your happy place. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to Hey, this promises to be fun.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. By the way, one more note on Hillary Clinton. Her and her husband are the two greatest influence peddlers of all time through their foundation. There was one year they took in $100 million, they spent like $2 million on charity. How were they worth $250 million bucks these two?
Starting point is 00:15:15 Do you know what, to be worth 250 million bucks, you had to make 500 or 600 million? How is that possible? What did they do? We'll never know. Will we? Nothing's transparent anymore. Nazis. They love going there.
Starting point is 00:15:43 And by the way, there are some Republicans who have gone there too in the past, and we've taken them on also. Let's continue. The biggest crisis continues to be ignored. There's no talk about debt and deficits. I keep hearing Trump saying he'll do something about debt and deficits with tariffs. Horse crap. That's BS. I watch Mark Cuban on TV today with Neil Cavuto.
Starting point is 00:16:14 And he said that we need higher taxes. No! We don't need higher taxes. We need less spending. Government spent $4.4 trillion in the year, $2,019, $7 trillion this year. By the way, we're spending more this year than the COVID years. It's a financial crime. It's a financial scam.
Starting point is 00:16:39 It's a financial con. Don't believe them, ladies and gentlemen. And when they tell you they're only raising taxes on the wealthy, no, they're raising taxes on you. By the way, I'm seeing ads for Kamala Harris from people that's saying they're regular people. She's for regular people. What's a regular person? That's another idiot ad. Every person is special, and every person has a great opportunity for great things in this country.
Starting point is 00:17:09 She keeps saying she's going to make it an opportunity economy. She's never worked a day in her life outside of government. God, I'm tired of these people. Next, I just want to let you know. Interesting story. The Washington Post in the LA Times, not conservative newspapers, will not endorse Kamala Harris. That's amazing. They're not endorsing Trump, of course, but they're not going to endorse Kamala Harris and a bunch of editors are quitting.
Starting point is 00:17:41 And they're saying Bezos, who owns Washington Post, is the one doing it. Interesting. And we'll finish with this. in some down-ballot races, in some conservative states, Democrats in their ads are saying they voted with Trump on certain things. Just letting you know, it's getting so funny out there. And, oh, next, do you know I did some sampling in the last day or so? You know my little samples that end up being right. Do you know supermarkets are giving away two for one Halloween stuff?
Starting point is 00:18:33 Wait a minute. Isn't Halloween next Thursday? It's six days away. And supermarkets are trying to get rid of Halloween candy by going two for one. What does that tell you? just my small little sampling of a couple of places just want to let you know I have in front of me two bags of Hershey's one Hershey bars and one is a Kit Kat buy one bag get one free it's not for me though two for one huh next we're doing tidbits here
Starting point is 00:19:22 John Anderson of yes turned 80 today. I am getting old. As you know, I have about 10 to 15 great bands that I love. But really, one, two, three, and in no particular order are yes, Genesis and Rush. Rush, yes, and Genesis. Yes, that's how it goes. Top three. He turned 80.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Oh my God. We move on. John Anderson's 80. And I don't think Russia's ever going to tour again. I don't blame him. Next, let's segue. Markets. All day to day, the NASDAQ and the semis were strong,
Starting point is 00:20:25 but they came in towards the end. Still up 100. Dow down 260, though. led by banks, financials, insurance. Huh, I don't think I'm going to find any big breakdowns in there, but we're watching. And why are we watching? Because the 10-year yield finished up another 0.32 today to 4.232, up from 3.6, not even two months ago.
Starting point is 00:21:05 And that could harm the banks, ladies and gentlemen. Just letting you know. So quite the interesting action today, quite the divergent week. As we do a little week in review, are you ready for this? Because I didn't even realize this to midday today. You see, the NASDAQ, on the week, if I am correct, on the week, finished up a measly 29 points, 0.16%. But do you know that the Dow, and I didn't realize this until I looked, down 1164 points this week,
Starting point is 00:21:50 excuse me, 1161 points this week, down 2.68. as 3M, Honeywell, and IBM gagged on earnings, but also quite the help out of McDonald's, which was down another $9 today with the E. coli going on, I believe lost about $17 billion of market cap this week, as they announced, I guess the CDC, wherever the heck they are, that 75 people are now affected more than they, thought, and they're saying there's many more, but many of them never went to doctors
Starting point is 00:22:31 because it came and went. I'm a big, I believe that the CEO has done a good job, as good as he can, as good as he can. But there's something called reputation, and it does not help. We're hearing it's the onions, not the meat, but they refuse. I don't think they've confirmed it 100% yet. Has it affected business? I went to three different McDonald's. They look like they were busy.
Starting point is 00:23:10 Up next, what else in the markets? I'm Gary. This is the one and only investors' edge. Ever feel like your bedrooms running out of space? Here's the good news. You don't have to sell your favorite things to make space. With IKEA bedroom storage solutions, dressers, wardrobes, full closet systems, even storage boxes.
Starting point is 00:23:49 You can hold onto it all. Your vintage band teas? Keep them. Those limited edition sneakers? They stay. And yes, there's room for your childhood teddy bear too. Need to organize a walking closet? The Pax wardrobe lets you customize shelves, rails, and compartments,
Starting point is 00:24:04 so every item has a home. Too many clothes and not enough drawers. The Stork Lint has six-door dresser is perfect for denim, sweaters, and everyday essentials. And if the kids are taking over your space, Trofast storage boxes make sorting toys and art supplies easy and clean up fun. Starting point is 00:25:00 Learn more at APU.APUS.edu. One sweet, melty bite of a Hershey's bar, and suddenly I'm right back sitting on the front porch with my grandmother on a slow summer afternoon. She doesn't say much, just breaks the bar in half, and hands me a piece. I opened my mouth to say whatever a nine-year-old wants to say, and she replies with a low listen.
Starting point is 00:25:27 So we sat there, listening. That was the first time I learned that quiet can feel full. Hershey's, it's your happy place. You're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here.
Starting point is 00:25:49 He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. And walk once again to Investors Edge. By the way, that Donald Trump stock is up and nothing more today. Do you know it went from 80 to 11, it's back up to 38? And they have no increases in anything.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Losing a crap load of money and hardly any sales with a $7.8 billion market cap. What did we tell you on the way up and the way down? don't be the last one in. I don't care whether he wins the presidency or not. You cannot have a $7.8 billion market cap with no sales and lose money. But in the meantime, nice move off the lows. Dang. And maybe predictive of what I've been saying to you.
Starting point is 00:26:58 I don't know. Don't know. There is a thought process that a lot of the market moves has been on the basis of maybe Trump winning, that's just guessing. My guess would be yes, but it's just guessing. In nauseating news, I have to tell you, and I say this, this is nauseating news, ladies and gentlemen, the New York Stock Exchange has announced it will extend trading hours to 22 hours per day.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Right now, hours run from 4 a.m. to 8 p. P.M. Things really don't trade that much until 9.30 to 4, but there is extra trading hours. Now they're going 22 hours, 1.30m. to 11.30 p.m. There's still not going to be a ton of training during those off hours, but I think it sucks. I don't know what the freaking goal is these greedy MFs. It's not a necessity. Not a necessity. But they announced it anyhow. We're in the midst of the earning season. And there is a lot of jello moving on the plate this week. There were more blowups today. There were more good moves today. Tesla had another good day today off of yesterday's gap, which kind of irks me because we want to own it if it goes higher and it's not given me a good specific point to get in. We'll see what happens next week. Movers today. Something like an aeon was up 18 today, but the insurance stocks got squashed today. Part of the financial is getting squashed.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Decker's Outdoor, up 19 today. Had a good day today. Good earnings and revenue growth for that one. Booz Allen, Tesla, as I mentioned, on the blow-up side, and again, the blow-up side. Something called comfort systems. This stock had been acting well. This is heating and ventilation down $43. Carlisle Corp.
Starting point is 00:29:24 This is another roofing systems down 41 today. The hospital stocks crushed today. HCA down $35 to $363. Here's an insurance stock can sale down 24 to 434. This is what we mean by earnings. It really is earnings roulette and we're always very careful about it. As far as areas, it looks like the hospitals have now topped also. This is on top of auto dealers, many retailers.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Something like a Newmont mining we mentioned in the golds. The housing related stocks because higher rates. Most of them are broken. below the 50-day move-in average, if not worse. I'm wondering if insurance has topped out today. I've yet to go through the financials, but they would definitely distribute some today. I don't see anything really breaking down,
Starting point is 00:30:30 but with rates ticking up, with rates ticking up, stay in touch with me, kids. Mui Importante. By the way, I just got the news in. Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, the bassist died of at 84 today.
Starting point is 00:30:55 I'm getting old. My buddy who's seen the Grateful Dead 200 and some odd times is probably beside himself. No, really, he's seen him 200 times. But travel him around. Wow. Man, oh man. Man, oh man.
Starting point is 00:31:19 No further information. That was just sent into me. I'm going to work out right after this show, ladies and gentlemen. Next week, Ford, Corning, Checkpoint Software, Comcast, McDonald's on Tuesday, but they have bigger fish to fry right now. No pun intended. PayPal, Royal Caribbean, Advanced Micro Devices, Google, Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle, Landstar, Reddit, Visa, Visa, Crocs, visas in the Dow, Brinker International, Caterpillar in the Dow, Eli Lilly, Garmin, Shake Shack, still haven't eaten there yet, Emanna, Wing Stop, haven't eaten there either, Amgen in the Dow,
Starting point is 00:32:12 Booking Holdings, Carvana, DoorDash, eBay, GoDaddy, Facebook, Microsoft, Micro Strategy, KLA 10Core, Robin Hood, Starbucks. Shall I continue? I mean just a craplode. Mastercard. Ferrari, W.W. Granger, Intercontinental Exchange, Amazon, Apple, Intel, Uber, STM Microelectronics, AMR. Want me to continue? I got more. So very big week next week. We wake up early. We work later, and what we do simply, number one, what were the numbers? Did they beat? Did they miss? Their guidance forward, how does the stock react?
Starting point is 00:33:10 Where does the stock react to? Are there any sympathy moves because of that stock? And then we go from there. That's how we go through earnings. I believe next week is the biggest week as far as I think the NASDAQ 100 probably has 40 to 50% of it reporting. And I'm very interested to see Apple because of the talking down of Apple as of recent based on China. And then the next day it's talked up. And then the next day it's talked down.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Next day it's talked up. I worry, my big worry is the valuation. It's quite in the trees. I had one person call me today, doesn't want to be in the market for the election. Just letting you know, only one. And I told them, you got to sleep at night. It's your money. I respect it.
Starting point is 00:34:21 And we'll see how that goes. for all of you out there. Just an opinion. If Harris wins and gets the House and Senate, I think there could be trouble. Why? Marxism. And when I tell you,
Starting point is 00:34:41 I don't believe a word she says on her flip-flops, that's where I stand. I think she has made up this whole new person just for the election. And just remember, all these changes did not happen before the election. She started running.
Starting point is 00:35:02 And it's all on video. And of course, the journalists have not done their job because they hate him. They're not fond of her, but she's the only one running. And that's that. It's going to be an interesting next 10 days. I'm trying to just remember if your life is dependent on their promises, you probably want to call me. Your life should not be dependent on these people, should not be dependent on government. We've told you for ages here, nobody should
Starting point is 00:35:55 define you. And I'm amazed when you get people that have never been in the real world of work and have lived off you telling you how bad you need them. Up next, we'll take you to the weekend. Thanks for being here. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. Ever feel like your bedroom's running out of space? Here's the good news. I learn that quiet can feel full. Hershey's. It's your happy place. You're listening to What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go.
Starting point is 00:38:51 In the guesters edge with Gary Culper. In other news, do you know who Tom Jarrell is? ABC news anchor and reporter? That's a journalist, died at the age of 89.
Starting point is 00:39:24 If you go look up his face, you'll know who it is, but he was a very good reporter. Always appreciated him. Wanted to mention that to you. Next, op-ed from another hack. You know the guy Krugman from the New York Times? If there's deficits under a Democratic administration, silence under a Republican administration is the end of the world. Anyway, here's the title. of his latest bull crap.
Starting point is 00:39:59 How Trump could bankrupt Social Security? Oh, only Trump's going to bankrupt Social Security. I got news for you. The government has bankrupted Social Security. Just remember, if they never did Social Security and instead designate an account that the money came out of your pay and went into an account that is in your name, has nothing to do with government and that's it and it had to go into 10-year bonds not even the
Starting point is 00:40:36 stock market and rolled over every 10 years you'd have ton more money and control of it and Social Security wouldn't be going bankrupt by the way without Trump just remember that and the cost for the Social Security Administration is ridiculous and it should not be people working today to pay you, the retiree. But of course, they never planned for the demographics and the great medical advancements and people living longer. And of course, anytime anybody's even approached doing something about Social Security that does need some fixing, oh, they're going to get rid of Social Security.
Starting point is 00:41:22 They're running ads here in Florida. Some women's running against Rick Scott that he wants to get rid of Social Security. A blatant lie. Bull crap. Blatin lie. Anyway, just letting you know another government program running out of time.
Starting point is 00:41:44 And Paul Krugman, yeah, it's all Trump's fault. As we said, campaign finance reform, they told us they were taking money out of politics. Harris, Trump, and allies spend over a half billion dollars in 16 days. That's
Starting point is 00:42:02 not a typo. Just remember, they lied to you. Next, headline. Trump's tariffs won't bring us peace and prosperity. I agree with that. Trump's tariffs are stupid. They're moronic. He's never going to do him.
Starting point is 00:42:20 There's no going to be no 100% tariffs on everything. Do you know how we know this? If President Trump did that, economies would shut down. It would shut down. There would be shortages up the wazoo because there would be no reason to make product. It's a stupid idea. It's a moronic idea. I don't know why Trump continues to do it.
Starting point is 00:42:47 The New York Times, they took a position on Trump. He is unfit to lead. The New York Post says, got to be Trump. Just letting you know. Hillary Clinton already did that crap. I was going to say a joke about Hillary Clinton. I'm not going to. I'll look like an idiot.
Starting point is 00:43:10 I mentioned the New York Stock Exchange. I hate the idea. And I'm just hoping, hoping that it doesn't proliferate. Got sent this. Kava, you know this restaurant stock that's been acting well, that I screwed up a trade on? Kava group, each current restaurant at this valuation is worth. 45 million bucks, which means valuation is a joke currently. But if the stock just sits here and they double the amount of restaurants or triple or quadruple, we'll see how it goes. In other words,
Starting point is 00:43:56 this person who put this out there thinks the valuation's ridiculous. And yes, you can measure these things pretty darn well. And of course, you can actually, there's some weird things going on, your stocks without any sales with $5 billion market caps. As usual, you're getting some froth and speculation and some newsy things. Just be careful. You know what we tell you. Just don't be the last one in because when the music stops. Next, China bounced a little bit today. I'm still agnostic. I was hoping for better. Remember, China had this big 10% gap and then when I Eiffel Tower could not get in. So I said to you, let's see how it pulls back.
Starting point is 00:44:43 If it pulls back constructively, we're going to go on it. It really hasn't pulled back constructively yet. But still in okay shape, we'll let you know. Because China is pulling a J. Powell times 10. With the amount of yuan they are putting into the system to goose things, I'm just wondering, and leave no doubt, their property market is in shambles and the amount of debt in their system, and I'm wondering if that's coming to fruition here, because if that's the case, I ain't buying it. No, thank you. After next week, Tuesday,
Starting point is 00:45:32 the election, I'm hoping we know what the hell happens by that end of the night. Wednesday, and I don't know why they're how stupid they are, we get Jay Powell, who's going to, I would suggest his lowering rates a quarter point when he shouldn't do anything right now, but he's not going to listen to a word I say because he think he's God. He thinks he's God. And that's the news of the day.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Or something like that. We're going to be watching very closely the earnings reports. I'm definitely now going to start watching these financials much more closely. everybody that was hoping for the midcaps and small caps try to break out and have tucked their head in like frightened turtles now. So it still remains a large cap affair. If anything changes, we'll let you know. Hey, tomorrow, I will be on Fox News. I believe 10 to 11 hour with Neil Cavuto.
