And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Coltbaum,
Starting point is 00:00:49 your host day. Thanks for being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you're listening. It's Monday. It's October 14th. It's 2024. Hope you had a good weekend. I did. I was on a golf course for the first time in 14 months. As you know, many months ago, I got back spasms up the wazoo. It's the worst pain I have ever had in my life. It lasted about six months. And there was no way I was swinging a club for a few months after that, just in case. Did some driving range, and then I went out, and I am good.
Starting point is 00:01:26 lasted 36 holes in two days. I was quite the inconsistent, but my game is in there somewhere. I must say that. So, anyway, that was my little gulfing outing. I was at a place called Chichese Creek in South Carolina. It was fantastic place. Loved the place.
Starting point is 00:01:53 It's the first weekend I was not, with my parents and I can't begin to tell you how many weekends. Next week, next Sunday is my father's 93rd birthday. We'll be there for that. And depending on how the week goes, I'll be at the Mets game Friday night, which would be game five against L.A., but the way they played last night, we'll see how that goes. Anyway, that's that. As you know, this is serious talk on everything that affects you, and we used to do only markets, but then we found out the more locks and the interlopers were taking over more and more. So what did we have to do? We had to talk about them with their debt and their deficits and their rules and their regulations and their fees and their fines and their mandates and their oversight and their penalties and this, that, and the other thing, we talk about them, especially as we go into the election. And we'll do that again today. We'll talk about about the markets, the economy, your job, your industry.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Again, their debt and deficits and all that crap and whatever else comes to mind. And if you do not get this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com. We'll also post it on our Twitter feed, which is now X. And if you don't follow us on X, you should. And if you like to email us, all you got to do is be nice. And that's that. Where do we want to start today? Just another good day in the market.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Just another good day in the market. Today, for starters, as you know, we love semiconductors. And as you know, we bought back into Nvidia right off the 50-day added as it moved above. Nvidia had another good day today. It's closing at a closing all-time high, not the intraday all-time high, which is about two points higher. but what happens today is they lifted applied materials KLA 10 Corps lamb research and now it's KLA court by the way it used to be they bought 10 core instruments KLAC those are coming up the right side now they have been lagging arm holdings up the right side today they have been lagging a few other semi
Starting point is 00:04:27 up the right side. They have been lagging. On top of that, I'm watching Apple may break out again. There's a little number just above 233 and then the old high of 237, but it looks like that wants to occur. If it does, and if the semi, you know what that means, means good news. and just overall, as we enter another big week of earnings, just good stuff. And tomorrow, before the open, Bank America, Schwab, City Group, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson and the Dow, PNC Bank, big regional, United Health in the Dow, State Street Bank, progressive insurance, big insurance.
Starting point is 00:05:13 So tomorrow we'll have another one of those days. And that's that. Tomorrow will be another day. if I had one complaint about this market right now, it's the sentiment side. You know, we talk sentiment when the sentiment goes to bullish extremes, it's usually time for a pullback. If sentiment goes to bearish extremes, it's usually time for a rally. But sentiment is a secondary indicator. Price and patterns are primary.
Starting point is 00:05:48 So maybe we pull back, I don't know. All I can tell you is, every time we scan and we scan every time we scan, Every night, I find, oh, this is moving out. This is breaking out. This one's doing this. So it's just one of those markets. The S&P, another new high at the close today. The Dow another new high at the close today.
Starting point is 00:06:07 And that's that. I don't know what else to tell you. It's markets in shape, notwithstanding. Again, near term, I think everybody's jumped into the pond, which could pull back. Also got to mention China. still in pullback mode when it remember we told you got into the redwood trees too far too fast too high in guess what it's doing now little pullback mode no big deal
Starting point is 00:06:36 and we're going to watch it on the pullback see how it goes if it pulls back constructively and into moving averages and then starts moving off of them we're going to yell at you and say China. I'm not buying any here, though. And there's no way I could have bought this first move because they gapped it up 10% overnight and no thanks. But leave no doubt. And I said this today to Charles Payne on TV. What China's doing is making J. Powell's printing to $9 trillion look like a piker. So we'll keep you informed on that. We'll see how it goes. Some Dow stocks. McDonald's is at a new yearly high on their crappy numbers. United Health into earnings tomorrow getting close. a few big price names in the Dow that are really doing the trick.
Starting point is 00:07:26 And that's our little right off the get-go what's going on in the markets. Also seeing some good action in the economically sensitive name. So for everybody talking about deep recessions and depressions and the end of the world, who's the guy who had the books out and keep saying he's called it right 100% of the time. Harry Dent. he's calling for a major gargantuan crash and maybe he's going to be right i can tell you right now there's no chance of him being right as the markets in shape financials broke out on friday this that and the other thing and again maybe he's going to be right one day we'll know it because guess what happens
Starting point is 00:08:05 the opposite of what we're seeing right now so we don't have to jump the gun and that's that what else did some deep diving this weekend as you know we think we're pretty good at It's sampling. We don't have a thousand analysts going out for us, but somehow we were able, somehow we have been able to make some pretty darn good calls without a thousand analysts. Just the decent feel of what we're seeing, what we're feeling, what we're thinking based on real world stuff. You know what the real world is?
Starting point is 00:08:55 So last week we had said to you, we thought there was. a big move, and I'm not saying small move, a big move towards Trump for the election. We don't know the reasons why, and we don't care. I can come up with answers, but we're just telling you what we think. There's been a big move towards Trump for the election. So we're just letting you know. We'll see how it plays out. You never know. There's still less than a month, Well, there's almost a month to go, but we just want to let you know that's the story right now. We can come up with reasons why it should be the opposite and reasons why it should be. And we're not going to go through what Trump did this weekend, what Harris did this weekend.
Starting point is 00:09:51 We're just letting you know the move of foot is happening in a pretty darn big way. Just for you Trumpians, you should be listening. You Dems, you should be listening because guess who said Trump is going to win in 16 over Hillary Clinton? We were laughed at. We were laughed at. We thought there was undercounting of the polls. The post-mortem said we were right. We were also ones that said Trump better be careful.
Starting point is 00:10:20 He's going to lose to Biden. Guess what happened? And if things change, we'll let you know. Because, of course, they can change. That's how it goes. So at the close today, another 200 plus points on the Dow. What's the movers? Apple, up almost four, and could be breaking out soon.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Salesforce.com up three, been repairing itself. Goldman Sachs up six. They report tomorrow, so it does not matter. But the financials on Friday had a very good day on crappy numbers. J.P. Morgan had a big day on Friday with earnings down. Amazing. You had Home Depot still doing the little move-up, IBM. McDonald's, as we stated. Stunning stuff. Up next. Final numbers and lots more. I'm Gary. This is the one only Investor's Edge.

Starting point is 00:14:09 some like the value of the family the importance of the
Starting point is 00:14:13 time and that the people of the people that have the cause a
Starting point is 00:14:19 Culebrilla Although not all the people in risk the I
Starting point is 00:14:23 do you the ruption dolorous with long long and
Starting point is 00:14:27 that even the things are all a not not
Starting point is 00:14:31 don't It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this.
Starting point is 00:14:56 And welcome once again to Investors Edge. Dow finished up 202. I think it was up 270 at one time. If I am not incorrect. 43 one yeah about 270 S&P up 44 NASDAQ 159 was up
Starting point is 00:15:20 200 NASDAQ 167 transports 111 advanced declines weren't that great today but what do I care as long as we have things that are doing the right thing and just oil stocks were down
Starting point is 00:15:37 China was down Solars which remains stayed a hell away from them and a mix bag of other things, but just decent action across the board. NVIDIA finished up three and a quarter. I do think it was up at one time today, about four and three quarters. That needs to rest or settle down, probably does. And just, again, notwithstanding sentiment getting to be a little bit too much,
Starting point is 00:16:14 at this juncture. The patterns playing out pretty darn good. New highs have been picking up. But again, I would not be surprised sooner rather than later. Some, hey, Mr. and Mrs. Bull, we're going to wipe the smiles off your face in the near term. That's what we think may happen. Could be a guess.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Don't know. Next, just a few tidbits. I want to go over what you guys are interested in. The Trump stock got a lot of emails on the Trump stock because, if you recall, in the mid-60s, we said this thing wasn't worth a dollar. But add Trump's name to it, let's call it 10. And basically the thought process was they have very little revenues, 176 million shares outstanding with a couple of million in revenues eventually it's going to give it
Starting point is 00:17:19 went from a high of 80 down to recently to 11 and 3 quarters well in the last five days it's gone from 20 to 30 50% move and on heavy volume so what do you think's going on there what do you think's happening does the market know what we think is going on that he's going to win. And if he wins, is this going to be good for Trump media and tech? Which I think there's an argument whether it is good or not. You still got to grow a business. All we can tell you, strong. And another strong day today. And if you own it, God bless you. I don't know what else to tell you. They still have less than a million of revenues, lose money, but nice move up. I believe it has to do with the betting odds that are out there at this juncture going towards the Trump way.
Starting point is 00:18:24 That's what I think. The market is moving a stock based on whether somebody is going to win the presidency. Hey, I'm all for that. What can I tell you? So I was asked about that. Then I'm being asked a lot of questions about Nvidia and how far can it go? I'm being asked about a lot of questions about how far Bitcoin can go. Because I know there are people that have all these targets out there.
Starting point is 00:18:57 And that's what I just want to spend a couple of minutes on. And I want you to listen carefully. No disrespect to anybody who gives out targets. We're just letting you know we don't believe in them. We don't think, we just think people are thinking up numbers. in order whatever. We always want to be careful about the crazies with the extremes. You know, with the 1.5 million Bitcoin price by 2030.
Starting point is 00:19:32 And may I state for the record, we're not saying it's not going there. We just think it's stupid. That's all. And also is indicative of froth. We remember in 1999, somebody came out with the, 30,000 Dow. And just so you know back then, the Dow was way below that. And of course, it took how many years to even get there?
Starting point is 00:20:02 20. He was talking imminently. Not going to mention who. So just be careful. You also need to know about the analysts raising targets. They're always raising targets into higher prices. Catch the drift. They're keeping the ball rolling. But have you noticed in the past how they go too far? And eventually, super micro, the stock has dropped from 122 down to 47. Do you know what they've been doing in the last month?
Starting point is 00:20:49 The targets have gone from 200 down to 75 and 50. That's what we just don't believe. leaving it. So just be careful. Our job is to keep doing what we're doing, interpret the action, when wrong, be wrong fast and be wrong small. And I can tell you, there's been a couple of times in the last couple months. We were wrong and we sold it and the stocks went right back up. It's the ones we sell that drop 30%. So there's always two ways to look at that. But we just want you to be careful about this target thing because the targets are the highest near the end of bear markets, bull markets, excuse me, and the beginning of bare markets. And if you remember 2002, how many growth stocks drop 75% from the highs?
Starting point is 00:21:54 Oh, and by the way, you're still way down off the highs? I've got a list. There's a ton. So we just want you to remember that because they're out in droves now. And it feeds on itself. And it draws people in sometimes at very inopportune times. And the last thing you ever want to do is catch the hottest stock in the market on its last 3% move to the upside. and remember the biggest losers the markets will ever have
Starting point is 00:22:38 will come from the past biggest winners because at their highest they end up with, guess what? Overowned, overloved, over leveraged, and guess what happens at that point? There's only one way to go because of that outcome. when everybody owns it and there's nobody left to buy
Starting point is 00:23:11 when the institutions have too much that's where trouble lies up next what else do we got for you oh oh and then we'll talk elections this is the one only investors edge ever feel like your bedrooms running out of space here's the good news you don't have to sell your favorite things to make space
Starting point is 00:23:49 with IKEA bedroom storage solutions dressers wardroves full closet systems even storage boxes You can hold onto it all. Your vintage band teas? Keep them. Those limited edition sneakers? They stay.
Starting point is 00:24:02 And yes, there's room for your childhood teddy bear too. Need to organize a walking closet? Starting point is 00:25:22 you have the virus that causes the Culebrilla. Although not all the persons in risk the development will be, I see the eruption dolorousa with ampollosures, making that even the tasks more simple are all a lot of a retort.
Starting point is 00:25:35 No, learn about the culebrilla of the way difficult. Talked or Pharmacetico, Patrocinoed for G. You're listening to... America is talking... Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with that.
Starting point is 00:25:53 The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a senator of... With Gary Coltbaum. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. So let's just put a few things together again. Near term, nobody's buying any put options.
Starting point is 00:26:25 That's betting on the downside. When we say nobody, just not a lot. We're kind of at a little bit of extremes. And quite often you'll get pullbacks because of it. We'll keep that in mind. But that's sentiment. sentiment is a secondary indicator price and patterns are primary and we can tell you more stocks today edged out of range more stocks turn the corner doesn't mean does not mean they don't just croak tomorrow
Starting point is 00:26:57 it just means when patterns are working out pretty darn well we don't argue with them tomorrow's another day and that's where it comes to mind when wrong be wrong fast and small when right try to let them run which has been tough for a few years between COVID we just had Japan like a mini meltdown China crashed yeah the 22 bear market which everybody's forgotten already and some pundits out there claiming oh look how good we've been But they were never bearish during the bare market. Huh. It's always careful about that.
Starting point is 00:27:47 And today, the semis. We know about Nvidia, but a lot of semis have lagged. Maybe they're starting to come on here. We'll give it a maybe. What else? Bitcoin had another good day. If the GBTC can break above 50, Well, the high is 5851, but there are secondary highs at 5304, lower highs, 5515, 5698.
Starting point is 00:28:23 If it can break through 5851, it's on its way again. This is the GBTC, it matches the Bitcoin price, or the IBIT getting through $42. Now micro strategy, which is just a Bitcoin hedge fund, we posed the question last week, what is going on? It's breaking out and Bitcoin isn't. Well, guess what? It reversed a measly $29 today. Got ahead of itself. That's the high octane representative of Bitcoin.
Starting point is 00:28:58 Careful. Not for the feign of heart. The financial ETFs and the bank ETFs broke. out Friday. The investment bank ETF, the broker investment services, breaking out. That's IAI. I got the MDY, which is the mid-cap index. That's moved out above range. And that stupid thing I stopped out of, I think, three months ago. I found another one, the VBK, which is the small-cap growth
Starting point is 00:29:39 index, I don't know what's in it, it's from Vanguard, that edge to new highs today. What more can I tell you? Some airlines at New Highs, United Airlines, a new high. The cruise lines, we mentioned that last week. We mentioned the airlines also last week. The lagging housing stocks had a better day to day. They need a little work in here and we'll let you know. If the XHB can move above 125.50, there's another little breakout. If the ITB breaks above 12930, that would be housing and housing related. They need some work. And interesting enough, this has all gone on with the 10-year yield. It was up another 0.25 today, almost 4.1%. So whatever's working and moving things beats the hell out of us.
Starting point is 00:30:39 don't really care what's doing the trick. We just care that the trick is being moved. And there's a little market for you. And then we kind of move forward because we got a few things to discuss. A, there's a line on Twitter that said you can't hate the media enough. And as you know, we have very big problems. And we're not talking opinion people. We're talking the anchors.
Starting point is 00:31:11 You see, an anchor is supposed to look at you and report the news. That's what they're supposed to do. They're not supposed to opinionize the news, and they also should not con you on the news. Simple as that. And also should be full and fair disclosure on the news and not give preference on the news. like CBS this morning, it just happened to be on when I turned it on, and have you seen what SpaceX did?
Starting point is 00:31:47 That's Elon Musk, by the way. SpaceX captured a rocket with what they call chopsticks. And I didn't realize this rocket is bigger than a 747. It was miraculous. yet CBS mentioned SpaceX but did not mention Elon Musk. Why is that? Because they hate Elon Musk because he dares to back Donald Trump. They didn't mention Elon Musk.
Starting point is 00:32:23 That's on purpose. You need to know that. And that's why we're just so pissed off at these people. CBS today was reporting on Israel. and Hezbollah. The news to them was Hezbollah retaliating against Israel's attacks. Not that Israel is retaliating from a year of missiles being lobbed into Israel. And not just since October 8th, the day after, but for years. We have highlighted for you in 16 when I went to Israel, I had to go in bomb shelters five or six times.
Starting point is 00:33:10 from missiles being lobbed over my head in Israel. That's your CBS. CBS interviewed this clown, this racist anti-Semitic piece of crap clown who has a book out, everything bad about Israel. The guy in an interview said he could have seen himself with the terrorists.
Starting point is 00:33:40 And CBS got pissed off at one of their anchors for calling. them on it. It took CBS's legal counsel to come out and say, I'm back in the anchor. There were actual questions that should be asked. We're finding out CBS the day after October 7th, October 8th, we shouldn't be calling Hamas terrorists. By the way, this is all out there. They're not saying not true. So as we move into the election, we're just letting you know it's going to get worse and we warned you about this. And as you know, we believe it's the Ebola virus versus the bubonic plague. But we want fair from the anchors. The opinion people can say
Starting point is 00:34:31 whatever the hell they want. We want fair. And we're not getting it at all, which is unfortunate. And we just hope you're all doing your homework and recognizing it for you. what it is. Like an ABC anchor yesterday talking to J.D. Vance amazingly. They were talking about the Venezuelan gangs
Starting point is 00:35:07 in Aurora and she was arguing with him. And you know what her argument was? But there's only a handful of apartment complex that have been overrun by Venezuelan gangs. Only
Starting point is 00:35:22 this is a woman who lives in a $3 million home, it's only, imagine. Do you think she'd go visit the apartment complex and sleep there one night? Only a handful. And of course, the reason she's doing this is to defend the Harris Biden administration on immigration. Again, not doing her job by reporting the news, trying to maneuver the news in order to satisfy her whims. Imagine that. Only a handful of apartments being overrun by Venezuelan gangs. I had one jackass on Twitter today.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Call me racist. I blocked them. Up next, we'll put a bow tie on this. And we'll segue back. I'm Gary. This is the one only investment. Ever feel like your bedroom's running out of space? Here's the good news.

Starting point is 00:38:54 One, two, ready, Go. Action! In the Guester's Edge with
Starting point is 00:39:01 Gary Kulpba. So I get this jackass on Twitter calling me racist because I'm upset for people
Starting point is 00:39:21 in apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado being overrun by Venezuelan gangs. It's racist because you're pissing off the Venezuelans and it's not all Venezuelans. Of course not. Of course not. The great news is it's a minority of these scumbags. The bad news is they are scumbags. and there are people that have been murdered from people who should not be here. And the goal is to have good legal immigration.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Immigrants come here and do great things. We want every single one of them. But we want it controlled. And they should be vetted. Don't you think? They just caught a guy. That was going to al-Qaeda us, but I'm racist. There's so much stoop out there, so much stupid.
Starting point is 00:40:42 President Kaltbaum would have controlled borders while telling immigrants you want to come in, you're going to do it the right way, will streamline the process, and we're going to vet you. That's all. And by the way, part of that Israel thing, that one guy, I was, that one guy, His last name is Coates, I believe. Oh, how racist and apartheid. Go Google what does Egypt's walls look like on their border in Gaza. It's like 40 feet high with like three different sets of barbed wire.
Starting point is 00:41:28 Why are they protesting Egypt? Jews. It's the Jews. It's the Jews. It's the Jews. Anyway, my main point is they are going to get worse during the election, towards the election. They don't care about you. They only care about getting their person voted in, whether she's terrible or not.
Starting point is 00:41:54 She could be the worst on earth, but let's go with it. And just so you know again, and it's important, they did it to Romney. they did it to Palin they did it to Bush they did it to Bush before they did it to Reagan this is not new the big difference is

Starting point is 00:42:38 and this is an opinion we cannot continue the trajectory if Kamala Harris is going to continue the trajectory of what the Biden Harris administration have done on rules regulations fees fines mandates taxes control and the list goes on and on of what I can add to that. It's Marxism. Covered up by the media and they blast the billionaires and then go begging the billionaires for money. Do you notice that? Have you heard what homes they have been in campaigning? Spielberg, Katzenberg, the big Macha hedge fund guys, Wall Street, you name it. So you're all a bunch of tax cheats. Oh, can you.
Starting point is 00:43:44 we have some money, we just want you to remember all this. That's all. We just want you to remember all this. You got the, what's his title now? The husband of Kamala Harris. It is now, you don't know about fact, but you got a bunch of women claiming he slapped the hell out of his girlfriend years ago. Whatever happened to believe the women. So this guy on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough, used to be conservative Republican, now he's on MSNBC. Interviews Emhoff, do you feel like a victim? What happened to believe all the women? Do we need videos?
Starting point is 00:44:36 Just pointing things out. It's insanity out there. It really is. It's sheer insanity. The other part is the Cheney's. Dick Cheney was called, Every name in the book. By the way, Dick Cheney was Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, the worst.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Now he's against Trump's O'LU. He's an elder statesman. You get it? Speaking of down the middle, Kamala Harris is going to be interviewed by Brett Baer on Wednesday. 6 p.m. check it out. I believe it's live. And there will be no restrictions, whatever he wants to ask. So Mr. Bear is going to get an email from me.
Starting point is 00:45:28 He gets my emails. I don't know if he reads him. And I'm going to put together a few questions that should be asked. Don't know if he's going to do it or not. But I do know one thing. He's going to be fair. That'll be Wednesday at 6 p.m. You should not miss it.
