Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum.
Straight talk about you and your money.
Now from the Biz Talk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum.
And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host day.
Thanks for being with us today.
Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening.
It's January 5th, it's Thursday.
It's 2023.
And before I even want to start, I'll get into the pleasant trees in a second.
for the last hour I have been watching the Republicans and the Dema crap party nominate their leadership of their parties.
And if you haven't read or heard, the Republicans are having some problems as they obviously not prepare well for it.
and 20 people, some of them I can't stand nauseating,
should not be in Washington, D.C. morons,
well, that's most of them anyhow,
are holding this guy up,
and maybe he will get in or not.
But that's not what I want to even mention.
What each person does, he stands up to say why I am voting for this person.
and they go into a
I'm going to use the word diatribe
explaining how good the party is
that they've done this
they've done that
they've done the other thing
and with for the people
and with for the middle class
and with this
and we're for that
and we're for this and we're for that
and we love you you're the greatest
thank you bless you
every one of these miserable people
nothing personal don't know them personally that has been there is on the hook this coming year
this coming's year this coming year's deficit one point five trillion dollars you know what that
means they're spending one point five trillion dollars more than they are supposed to in my world
they're crooks. Unfortunately, they're legal crooks. Can you be a legal crook? They're crooks.
You know, the parties used to at least some of them used to fight over debt and deficits and raising
debt ceiling. You know the word ceiling is supposed to mean can't go any higher. They're just a
bunch of crackpot, con artist, liars that continue to mortgage and crush your kids' future,
their kids' future.
And they're all begun by the time all hell breaks loose, which, by the way, we had some of it this year.
I can't tell you how I want to throw a big, gigantic softball, softball, hardball through that TV.
the bull crap being spewed by these people is sickening.
And just remember that $1.5 trillion is our debt,
and they don't give a crap.
And then you got Biden,
who I really do believe that now
has taken the championship belt of lying away from Donald Trump.
And that is a high bar to hit.
He was out today saying he's the immigration president.
president, and all the problems at the border are Republicans' fault.
What a bull crap artist of the highest order.
He's really making Trump look like a truth teller.
And Trump couldn't go a day without lying.
I got newsfea.
This guy can't go an hour without lying.
Of course, nobody knows it because the media don't say crap about it,
because the media are a bunch of corrupt liars.
it's our job to work our way through this
and unfortunately
most people are not on my side
they're on one side or the other
on either that side or that side
my side says they're all
killing us
31 trillion of debt
another trillion a half deficit
a lying sack for a president
says so
and by the way
Biden was saying how the immigrationist
he's been in D.C. for 50 years
he had eight years with Obama
yet now it's
a problem
I was nauseous
watching these people
stand up there and compliment
their parties and themselves
for all the great things they're doing for us
have you seen the price of eggs
we may have to start the logic party
I love my life too much
to get
to get in there because you know what happens, right?
You know I was going to run a few years ago.
You know what happened, right?
I met with a couple of Politicos
many years ago, thinking about running.
Here was the conversation.
Gary, have you ever cheated on your wife?
No, I have not.
Now you have.
Seriously.
Next question.
Gary, have you ever?
ever use the real bad racist word? No, I haven't. Now you have. Have you ever visited prostitutes?
No, I haven't. Now you have. I was like, what? Well, that's what they're going to do.
Great. Let's run. And just so you know, just for the mayorship of Orlando, years ago, the mayor, who's been a mayor for a
time had his minions go out, claiming that the guy he was running against, used that bad
and racist word zillions of times. Never proven. And when asked in a debate whether he knew
anything about it, you should have seen his face. So why do you run? Anyway, that was today.
I had to start with that. And, you know, we always get to ask Gary, you talk about all this stuff.
What does that have to do with me and my money? Everything. Everything.
How are you doing at the supermarket?
How's the stock market doing?
Once the central bank stopped printing $9 trillion
bucks to make their buddies bigger billionaires
while screwing savers with 0%.
How is that?
These are the people running.
These are the people running the show.
One's worse than the next.
Okay.
Oh, and let me just go one further.
You ever hear the National Association of Business Economy?
miss? Well, I haven't. They're given Janet Yellen the Paul Volcker Lifetime Achievement Award.
In case you don't know, Paul Volker is the guy that came in and fought inflation like crazy
and won it. Janet Yellen is one of the culprits of all the inflation. Janet Yellen's been
calling for a worldwide tax. Do you know that? Did any of you know that? She wants you to pay taxes
worldwide. She's calling for higher taxes, higher taxes than anybody, and bigger government spending.
This is what they're given a lifetime achievement work.
She was part of the Bernankei brigade that started the money printing.
When Bernanke took over and started money printing, we had $10 trillion of debt.
13, 14 years later, we have $31 trillion.
She's part of all that.
She's been wrong on everything as Treasury Secretary.
Let's give her a lifetime achievement award.
Only in D.C., ladies and gentlemen.
Only in D.C.
and that's how you get the $31 trillion of debt.
Keep voting in failures.
Okay, now I'm done.
Yesterday on the show, we were telling you, darn, what a good day.
Best advance decline day I've seen the very long time,
but indices are still in range, and a lot of things were still breaking down.
What do we tell you was breaking down?
The solars, managed care, HMOs, smattering of other things.
The hope is follow-through.
Range bound, you need follow-through.
The problem is, no leadership, no new yearly highs, and then what happened today?
We'll have that and more.

And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
unfortunately we're going to have to talk about a word today
ledge the word ledge
LEDG LEDG
LEDGE
Ledge definition
A narrow horizontal surface
projecting from a wall cliff or other surface
The ledge
The major indices
Walked closer
To another ledge today
of the last three weeks.
We call them flags and wedges,
and we put the word bearish in front of them.
Why do we call them bearish wedges and bearish flags?
It's because it's come in a bare market
and coming off of a drop.
It's a flag turned upside down.
In a bull market,
a bullish flag is the strongest of all patterns,
where a price goes straight up
and instead of even pulling back, it just makes a right turn making a flag before it breaks out to the upside.
You turn that flag over.
That's what you got right now in the S&P 500.
That's what you have right now in the Dow.
That's what you have right now in the NASDAQ.
That's what you have right now in the NASDAQ 100.
and let me be as succinct as your handsome and buffed host can be.
If the ledge is taken out on these four major indices,
that is, remember how we explain this to you,
we simplify it with how it works.
That is the big institutions that have been trying to defend for three weeks,
giving up, recognizing market is too weak, and the selling feeds on itself by those same people.
If, if, if, if. Now, if I had to tip the scales on that, if I had to tip the scales, I would suggest odds favor, that is what occurs.
you will know if it occurs if you also look at these three symbols
SH PSQ DOG these are the inverse of those indices if they break above the three
week range they are in that means that price is breaking below the three week range
which takes me to my next point.
I'm not so sure that be good news.
Do I need to go further than that?
Now, I'll give you one little positive from today
for the price we got today on the market,
the move.
The advanced declines today were not so bad.
So the advanced declines not so bad,
that said
that can change
if the indices
break so if you got a chance
tonight you may want to take
five minutes and look at the charts of the Dow
the S&P NASDAQ NASDAQ 100
and those three
inverse and you'll see exactly what
we're talking about and you'll see exactly
how we measure life in general
of course we'll do the
underneath the hood stuff
a little bit later
but we're looking right
at everything and it's not a pretty sight.
And certain things, we just highlighted few days ago things we thought were topping, not only
topping, but getting slammed.
The areas that we're holding up best are now getting slammed.
The one area that isn't, even with the market slammed today, the Chinese stocks were up again
today, for the most part.
But I'll repeat the caveat.
How the heck do you go to sleep at night and wake up and the China government does something stupid again?
Remember, they are full communist control freaks now.
They're dictating.
I told you to go read about Jimmy Lai out of Hong Kong and what they did to this guy.
It's just like what Russia did to Brittany Griner.
Why?
Because he dare dare go up against the government saying,
They're doing people wrong.
The horror.
Well, that's what dictator gross communist governments do.
Happens in China, Venezuela, and many others.
Of course, Israel is the one that gets all the United Nations condemnations.
Not North Korea or Cuba, because UN is that, the anti-Semitic, anti-Jew, anti-Israel, scumfest.
That's on another subject.
So we just gave you out some real specifics on the indices.
And we didn't predict the thing.
We just said if.
And we also said if we had to move the scale, we think we'll see.
Now tomorrow will be another most important jobs number in history.
Today there was this ADP number that was supposedly hotter than normal, and that's what upset the market?
A better jobs number?
Yeah, okay.
We'll see how the market decides to react tomorrow.
But I think we're going to get some, as stated, fish or cut bait sooner rather than later.
That'd be the guess.
So today's market wrap is brought to you by Investment-Dashmottles.com.
That's Jim Rohrabach, one of the great market timers.

Final numbers.
Dow down 339.
S&P 45, NASDAQ 153, NASDAQ 100-173, Sox down 51, transports 205.
But advanced declines, I'll get to that up next.
Not as bad.
Much more.
Coming up.

Investors Edge
He's got to be pleased with that
The crowd is just on his feet here
He's a Cinderella boy
With Gary Coltbaum
It comes highly recommended
You're gonna feel better if you talk to him
I've been following this Idaho murder
With this
I can't even say the word on radio
This this murderer
You know how for like three weeks
I mean the news media was going after the police
And everything
They didn't know what the hell they were doing
you know what they were doing?
Their job.
They had the guy.
They were on him.
But they had them prove their case.
And what they did, they had him nailed and tailed 24-7.
Somebody asked the question, well, weren't they worried that he would do something else?
As I stated, they had him nailed and tailed 24-7.
He couldn't go to the bathroom without them being on him.
actually stopped them in his car with his father and the FBI had asked for them to stop
under the pretense that he was tailgating just to look at his hands to see if there were any
wounds on there. So they had the guy. And all I keep thinking to myself, if I was the father
of one of these girls, I really think justice should be served by letting the fathers of these
girls into a room with him and shut the door for 30 minutes. Nothing in the room, no weapons,
no nothing, and just left the fathers one at a time have Adam. Does that mean he violently murdered
the daughters of fathers and mothers for no reason at all except for his jollies? Is that
mean? All I know is if I was the father, give me five minutes. You would not be able to recognize
him and he will be singing soprano for the rest of his life. Just thinking about that.
Imagine being the father. That's why I was so incensed about the Sandy Hook piece of crap
that got sued and lost a billion bucks. And hope you're not so incensed about the Sandy Hook piece of crap.
rots in hell for saying it really didn't happen and the kids were alive or something.
Who do we love the most in life?
Our family.
My life changed when my son Aaron was born and then my son Eric.
It always had meaning.
But man, when you have your first kid, talk about having meaning.
And this guy just, I can't imagine.
Imagine being the dads.
Now, what does that have to do with you and your money?
Absolutely nothing.
But I thought I'd mention it because I've been really watching it and reading about it and covering it.
No reason.
Nothing.
All right, back on point.
I want you all do me a favor.
You ready?
First off, it looks like the person who impersonated me on Twitter and got suspended, just put up another one.
The tag is at 1 Gary Kaltbaum with a big G and a big K.
So tonight we're going to go after him again.
I guess I should be flattered, right?
And it looks like a real letter L, but it's at one Gary Kulp up.
And I know it's him because he's blocked me.
But we'll take him down again.
Again, I guess I should be flattered.
So if you want to help, go ahead.
Next, here's what I'd like from you geniuses out there.
I want you to do me a favor.
I've done it, but I like covering my homework.
I would like any of you to email me with this.
On a loan amount, you ready?
On a loan amount, I got to get the loan amount,
$21,78.
You got that?
For 39 months to pay it off
at $702 a month
on 39 months.
What's my interest, right?
They're charging me?
By the way, it's not me.
On $21,708 for 39 months
with a payment of $702, what's my interest rate?
And then, and then, what would be my interest rate at $620?
On $21,708, for 39 months, $620.
If I was paying it off at $620.
Don't ask me why.
Let's see what you guys come up with.
And just so you know, I know how to do these things.
Okay, so we told you, managed care was topping out.
And of course, United Health is the most important name in the Dow.
It's the highest price, and that's how the Dow moves.
Since we started telling you that, and it was already topping beforehand, but we really started yapping at you on Monday.
It closed that day at 518 when we told you that.
Down to 15 today to 489.
518 to 489.
And of course, guess what?
Elevance, ELV, which used to be Anthem,
has gone from 503 to 473 since Monday's close.
Molina Health, M-O-H, has gone from 319 to 298.
signal which was holding up best
321 to 304
so just letting you know
and we're going to show tonight on our webcast
what we saw
remember we told you the solars
and the strongest name
end phase was topping out well it broke the
50 day moving average
firmly
on 1223
closed that day at 293
95 the 50 day
moving average was 297 you ready for
this? Seven trading days later, 29395 to 240. We told you was topping.
SEDG topping. First Sol of the strongest name broke the 50 day.
Yesterday we mentioned to you defense stocks. They're in trouble. We mentioned to you some of the
staples in trouble. And now, oh, the coal stocks actually bounced today, but
definitely topped. And we mean staples. How about Constellation brands?
Down $22 today, 10% to $208. I think they sell a lot of beer. So we're just letting you know
a bunch of the things that we're holding up are croaking. Just remember the coal stocks,
the solar stocks, the managed care stocks, they were holding up. You know what they're doing now?
They're breaking down deer.
They're breaking down Sherwin Williams.
Why would they do that?
Cintas.
It's been a stronger name.
They make uniforms.
That broke badly in the last two days.
Simple IT, which is technology-based.
They broke that today.
Broke the 50-day today, handily.
Just letting you know.
Ice getting thinner.
The ledge.
And you know what else I saw today?
These bombed out, unbelievably destroyed, high beta names that we talked about for 15 months,
were croaking again today.
I'll explain.
That's up next.

One, two, ready, go.
Action!
Investors Edge.
With Gary Culper.
And welcome once again, to Investors Edge.
So, you got all these bombed out stocks.
And a lot of them have been probing the lows.
been probing the lows.
In other words, they've crumbled.
Way down.
But stop going down.
You're down 70% and you're going to stop going down.
Some of them are now starting to go into the down move again.
After being down 70%.
Crowdstrike today.
New yearly low.
For example, just one name.
Don't need to get a lot.
give others. I'll give one more. Service Now, NOW. Big rolling over today. CYBR, CyberArc. And just so you know what we're
hearing. Oh, I have to mention Microsoft was down another almost seven bucks today. Cloud. And you know
all we've heard about is cloud's great, whatever, just so you know what we are hearing. And these are
factual because they've been announced. A lot of these companies that were opening data centers
that need cloud, they're not opening them anymore.
A lot of them that have data centers, they're shutting them.
Why?
Because they overdid it during the pandemic, thinking they need them forever and they realized
they went too far, too much.
And guess what's going on?
10% workforce fired, Salesforce.com.
Amazon just knocking out 18,000 employees announced tonight or today.
So all this talk about technology recovery.
I got news via.
It's worsening.
Remember, it was us nine months ago that warned you about the major inventory build in the PC business by the top three for the top three.
Lenovo HP Dell, guess what happened?
You got it.
So just want to let you know, they're starting to gag them again.
So not a good day.
And if I were you guys, I'd be paying attention to the ledge.
Again, we're not saying it's going to.
We're saying it walked towards it today.
And one would suggest getting close to sitting down on the ledge.
And remember, a break of that ledge.
That is your institutions, your big money giving in,
recognize it it's just so damn weak, and we've got to sell more.
You had a little bounce in the oils today, little bounce in the commodities.
They had been trashed over the previous days.
I mentioned that China stocks were green.
housing mostly green nothing big I got not much else by the way the other era we
told you was topping and topped is the big biotech and that's exactly what's
happened there too and they were holding up not anymore so stay tuned we could
be in another inflection point soon and this is a day after man we had a really good
advanced decline day yesterday even though the indices not as great remember what
said yesterday but we need to see more of this and they did the opposite today we'll see what
tomorrow brings jobs number tomorrow and again they can hold it up they better okay as i mentioned
amazon to lay off 18 000 workers uh salesforce dot com to lay off 10 percent i think that amounts to
how many don't know just yet nevertheless it's a bunch next
What did we tell you was going to happen at the end of the road on the crypto?
Anything involved in crypto?
Exchanges, lenders was going to be destroyed.
When crypto was going, there's a company called Silvergate Cap.
Provides financial infrastructure solutions and services to the digital industry.
They call it a bank.
it hit a high of $239 in November of 21.
Right when we were warning you,
today it was down 43%,
down 9 and change to 12 in change.
Why?
Oh, they're gagging.
Best way I can put it.
Go look it up.
Silvergate had to race to cover $8.1 billion in withdrawals.
because of the FTX collapse.
Remember, remember what we told you a long time ago.
Some of these people are so intertwined and that's what was holding things up.
Once the one domino went, they all go.
So bye-bye Silvergate.
To what extent we don't know.
Bed Bath and Beyond, now talking about potential bankruptcy.
Duh.
And just remember, just recently,
the morons ran the stock up on a short squeeze from four and a half to 30 and we're telling you that day, this company's almost bankrupt.
Losing tons of money, shutting stores, they shut the one here in Lake Mary, Florida.
Down 72 cents to $1.69 today, down 30% bed death and beyond.
Unbelievable. Corporate insiders.
Just letting you know they are not betting on a market rebound.
In fact, they are selling and selling even at the lows.
Ratio is bad.
Executives and directors.
Bye-bye.
Just letting you know.
So not a good day.
Maybe tomorrow is better.
Remember, we have no clue what happens tomorrow, but we'll be ready for it.
Until then, I'll be on with Neil Cavuto between 12 and two tomorrow and Fox Business
Network.
We'll be on the same time radio show tomorrow.
Until then, you have a great evening drive carefully when you get home, do like what you do.
Quite simple.
Make sure you hug your family. Make sure you hug your children. They will feel better. You will feel
