Starting point is 00:00:00 Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum. Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Coltbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. I'm Gary Colbom, your host. A thanks of being with us today. Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen. Happy that you are listening.
Starting point is 00:00:21 It's Friday. It's the 9th. It's October. 2026. Hope you having a good day. Hope whatever you do, have a good weekend. Before we even get going. If you are in the way of Hurricane Isaiah's, get the hell out of the way.
Starting point is 00:00:41 I want you to remember, I am a veteran of hurricanes. Stuff is stuff. Family is family. These hurricanes have no bias. It doesn't matter we have a big house or small house. Rich or poor. Bigger, small. fat or skinny they'll come and get you I hope you got the hell out of there we don't
Starting point is 00:01:12 screw around looks like direct hit into the panhandle Alabama-ish yikes and again we know believe me we know ladies and gentlemen a big thanks and you never know So we had to put my precious dog, Winston, my shadow to sleep. As I said to you, I think it's 14.5. More than three years ago, they told me he had six months because of aggressive cancer. They said to me, you know, you can do surgery, but we can't promise. because this is aggressive, screw that, we did the surgery. And I think it was about a year, and we went in for a checkup, and yeah, it came back.
Starting point is 00:02:24 And they kind of said, you probably don't want to do this surgery. We did the surgery. A year later, finally it comes back, and a place you can't do surgery. and they didn't give him much time. He went another year and a half. And what happened in the last couple of weeks, I can tell you, let's see, today's Friday, I'm going to say two Mondays ago,
Starting point is 00:02:58 he was not fine because, you know, you're old in this, but whenever I watch TV, he'll come up right to me, and if he wants something he'll bark and he was barking up a storm. I didn't see any issues. But then a couple of days later he's limping. A couple of days later he can't do a couple of things that you don't need to even mention and then just straight downhill and had no choice.
Starting point is 00:03:43 We did not want to, but two vets. Believe me, I wasn't going with one. So I had a run out of there, and I actually ruled that I did that. I should have been there, but I couldn't take it. And I had mentioned this in the last couple of days here. Do you know we broke a record on how many emails we received over something? because of my Winston passing. Are you ready for this?
Starting point is 00:04:23 Japan. Japan. The UK, Ireland, Israel, India, India, the UAE, you with me? The Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, France, Dominican Republic, Portugal, Costa Rica, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Austria. We got emails from every one of those countries.
Starting point is 00:05:49 We never knew our reach until we talked about our dog and having to put him to sleep. Every one of the emails we got, and I mean this, talked about their dogs and can't. and their experiences. You all been a big help. You all been a big help. It's been a rough few for the family. Mom, dad, father-in-law, best friends, man's best friends.
Starting point is 00:06:40 As you get older, this is, what do they say about the circle of life? Well, there you have it. So a big, fat, juicy, thank you. A heartfelt thank you to all. We now segue. We're going to be, as always, very specific to the point. This is a show about everything that affects you.
Starting point is 00:07:26 We do the markets, the economy, your job, your industry. The Morlocks in D.C. And if you do not get this radio show in your city or country. go to garyk.com we'll post it there we'll also post it on our x feed if you don't follow us on x you should if you like to email us you just be nice boy oh boy you'll be nice I won't even go further than that today
Starting point is 00:07:53 and I'll also post it on the YouTube channel of biz TV and there you have it the Dow is up 423 today S&P 46 NASDAQ 172 NASDAQ 100 157 Russell 2000 still stinks. The socks was down 51. Transports were actually down. Advanced declines, 2817, New York, 2820 NASDAQ. But, as you know, we just don't do the Do, S&P, NASDAQ, NASDAQ, NASDAQ, $100 and all that. We break the markets apart because we can talk.
Starting point is 00:08:40 How the S&P and NASDAQ and NASDAQ 100 have been strong, but so many areas have been bearish, and how small and midcaps have underperform, and how China stocks have crashed, and how European stocks have topped out badly as of recent. They bounced today. We got some sore thumbs today, especially on the upside, that we have been telling you about, but we really, really, really, really. were uncertain about. Not a matter of believing our eyes, but you've had a market that any time anything tries to stick its neck out, the market gods had a mallet
Starting point is 00:09:30 banging it right back down. Not today. For certain areas. As we head into earning season next week, so we'll cover that. We'll cover that. But the most important news of the day is Dallas Cowboys lost last night. To the Buccaneers, who kind of like a hometown team to me.
Starting point is 00:09:59 But as you know, I am a maniacal Giants fan, so when the Cowboys lose, I'm a happy guy. Hey, what can I tell you? It's the football thing. So, we'll be talking today, software. MasterCard and Visa? Really? And much more. This is the one-only Investors' Edge.

You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum.
Starting point is 00:12:19 It doesn't get better than this. Welcome once again to Investors Edge. Thanks for being with us today. hope you're having a good day. As you know, we started the show with Winston. And, again, a big thanks. Certain things I will not forget. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Software. As you know, we've been telling you about software as of recent. Not all. There are a lot of very weak software stuff. but we have highlighted software security. But throughout, we've been on the worried side because it was only, I don't know, two, three month ago where an announcement on artificial intelligence,
Starting point is 00:13:45 I don't want to be an enemy. Trump said that if you say artificial intelligence and not super intelligence, you're the enemy. that from the President of the United States. So superintelligence. Software stocks crumbled. And that's always been the worry on a look back. Crowd strike up 11,
Starting point is 00:14:11 opt up 10, Palo Alto Networks up 17, Snowflake up 25, Twilio up 13, Viva Systems, up 11, data dog, up 12, Z-scale, up 16, synopsis, up 11, Microsoft, up 12, cloud flare, up 19, Fortnite, up five. And I actually should give up percentages. I'm going to give an approximate. Crowdstrike, let's call it about four and a half, Fordenet, about two and a half,
Starting point is 00:14:51 Cloudflare about five. Octa about four and a half. Palo Alto Network's about four. Palantir, four and a half. Snowflake, let's call that about six and a half. Twilio, four. Viva Systems, three and a half. Data dog.
Starting point is 00:15:21 four. How about frog? That was about four. Z scale, about seven. Microsoft, two and change. The IGV, which is a software ETF, 2.6. How about hack and bug and cyber? Let's call it 2,34%. Those are software security names. So really nice day. in the software. And I have yet to look at my new yearly high list, but I can tell you there's going to be a few on there in software. And I must tell you, and I guess this is maybe just putting the candle on the cake,
Starting point is 00:16:13 think this could be of note. We'll say. again earnings for the many coming out in the weeks ahead next week i believe we'll start off with the banks which by the way some of the banks bounce today not all but banks were a little bit better today golden was up 12 but going back to software that was the story because the semiconductors were mostly down today uh go scan those if you got a chance and some of the weaker ones I won't mention. These are the strength.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Software. What else? Sticking out. Did I mention MasterCard and Visa? Do you know why I mention them because the financial stink? Now put MasterCard aside because Visa is stronger. You know what they both have? Even when they were in bearish mode, consistent earnings,
Starting point is 00:17:25 Visa is about to break out to an all-time high. Did not do it. It was close. Just letting you know. And it's on our radar. Very much on our radar. And I repeat, most financial stocks are just plain gross. There are some financial stocks that are just way, way down in the bearish phase.
Starting point is 00:17:56 And I will tell you, the foreign banks that were strong. Weak is all heck. So master card and V. I'm going to take that back. Visa. One, MasterCard, two. If they go higher, it'll be visa leading. Notwithstanding again, earnings.
Starting point is 00:18:21 And we repeat, know when your earnings come out. Now the Dow is up 423 today. I will tell you, Amazon and the Dow up eight, maybe turning up maybe Goldman up almost 13 that's like 80 Dow points
Starting point is 00:18:43 Microsoft up 12 that's about 80 Dow points Visa was 65 thou points United Health was 50 Dow points Amgen well Amazon was about
Starting point is 00:18:57 55 to 60 Dow points that's how you get to 400 and change the Dow is still very weak in relation to the S&P. Small caps bounced today, but very weak in relation to the big stuff. They bounced the healthcare today. Healthcare was getting hit real hard,
Starting point is 00:19:23 but they bounced it pretty good today. I'm going to take a look at them. I may have been long. I thought they could be down for the count, but today was impressive. And yeah, I'm going to say they're still down for the count. What that means is it's going to go through a while of backing and filling at best. Yeah, I'm going to stick to that for right now.
Starting point is 00:19:45 What else? And we're just walking through. Just walking through. Crypto bounced a little bit, but boy, they have not acted well, especially Ethereum. They were trying to build stair steps. And last stair step, it fumbled and stumbled and bumbled and bubbled and broke below it. especially the Ethereum. So not thrilled.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Yields, the 10 year was up again today and so was the five year, but way off the highs of early today. That really needs to change. Housing stocks, terrible today. Insurance no good. Retail, blah. A lot of jello moving on the plate today. We got more.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Thanks for being here. I'm Gary. This is the one only investor's edge. to America. Investors edge. He's got to be pleased with that. The crowd is just on his feet here. He's a Cinderella boy.
Starting point is 00:21:22 With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. Do you believe all those countries that email me? Boy, that feels good. A few things. Listen carefully. Here's a headline.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Wall Street sees ominous sign in bond market's latest sell-off. Hmm. That may be good news. When everybody starts reporting how something is bad after it's already been bad for a while, we'll see. Consumer sentiment. Just so you know, there's these sentiment gauges. And I must tell you, scratch in the forehead. We're told we got a 4% GDP quarter.
Starting point is 00:22:42 while consumer sentiment is deteriorating like the cowboy season. Now, I don't know what that means. Typically, I would see something go hand in hand. And of course, consumer. Let's see. Brent crude above $104, the consumer. The mortgage rates are now seven to half. The consumer.
Starting point is 00:23:24 Diesel. The consumer. Have you seen the price of an average car now? The consumer. Have you seen rent? The consumer. How about health insurance? You know, the big Obama lie?
Starting point is 00:23:47 Yes, your premium is going to go down, even though we're getting rid of pre-existing conditions. and putting millions of people on. He actually got away with that. God bless them. Have you seen your premiums of insurance? Yeah. How about potato chips?
Starting point is 00:24:10 Have you seen the size of the bags for the same price? And do you know they count how many chips they put in there? Just so you know, the good size bag is, just a little bit bigger than the small one now with the chips. Halloween coming up. I always use the same one. Hershey's. You know the bag, it's a big bag and it has the little Hershey's in there. Different little Hershey's in there that you give out to the kids. A few years ago was 999 or 1099. It's 1599, 1699 now. The consumer, you're going to soon. The consumer So I get it. I really do. And as I've told you, I do the shopping. I'm the guy in Publix, the consumer. And that's not all. Beef. That's why I wish the president would shut up. Prices are down. Of course there's a few prices down. But on the whole, they're way up. The consumer. But interesting enough,
Starting point is 00:25:47 While sentiment continues to wane, looks like people are still spending. Disney's raising prices and their business is still strong. The consumer will see how it plays out. As far as other sectors in the market that we have been just totally bearish on, I don't see much in the way of changes. You know about software? semiconductor's rough day yesterday and I'm not sure in here now. Healthcare maybe was wrong about the big top in,
Starting point is 00:26:41 but not seeing anything else that's been in bearish phase where I can come to you and say it's out. We'll let you know. Again, sticking out like a sore thumb, software. And when you have a chance this week, Why don't you spend some time on these software names and go look, go look at the new yearly high list, see what shows up, but also look when earnings come out. I never play anything that's close. I never guess.
Starting point is 00:27:36 And I'm always amazed when I see somebody on TV. Yeah, I know they report tomorrow, but I'm buying. Really? God bless. AI trade mix today. Some good bounces, some okay bounces, some nothing bounces. For a change, China was strong, but China's been just in a brutal bare market. A Europe bounced, but Europe's in a downtrend. Maybe it gets better.
Starting point is 00:28:17 And as I said, the advanced declines had a good day today, but not a bang-up day today. want to see some bang-up days. The Sandys Seagate Western Digital Trade still under pressure. Sandus down another 30 bucks today. And I think it's all the way down to the 50-day moving average now. This is going to be a very interesting
Starting point is 00:28:45 earnings season. Very interested in this one. because there's so many bare markets. Because software really sticking out now, I want to see how they react. And we're being told the security software is strong because of the worry of artificial intelligence. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:14 SpaceX was up six early, finished up two. Looks like they're going to try and get into AT&T. Verizon and T-Mobile's business. I can tell you that, let's see, AT&T today, down 9.8%. TeamMobile, down 13%, new yearly low. Verizon, down 8%. Ew.
Starting point is 00:29:46 They came out and said, but they're not worried that SpaceX through 6th, Starlink is going to have to go through hoops and a long time and a lot of money and a lot of things before they can even get involved. But it was enough to smack the hell out of those three names. By the way, all three were already ugly before today. As I said to you, Starlink, I flew to Hawaii on Delta and the internet was bleh. I flew back on Hawaiian Airlines and the internet with Starlink was Magnifico.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Now whether that equates to wireless, phone, mobile, we'll sit. I'm all up for it. Any improvement. Any improvement. Not a lot of movement on the election. House is still gone. that will be gone. I believe Senate's going to be very, very close.
Starting point is 00:31:00 I heard there was a debate in Michigan last night. I'm no fan of either. But the lefty guy is a racist, Jew-hating Marxist. That's probably going to win. Seriously. Racist Jew-hating Marxists who would not answer the question, Iran versus Israel.
Starting point is 00:31:27 Whatever. Next, news of the day from New York City. This is the one only Investors Edge. We're listening to. What are we waiting for? Well, what are you waiting for? One, two, ready, go. Action!
Starting point is 00:32:22 Investors Edge. With Gary Culpa. And welcome once again to Investors Edge. So, a few things. Some have nothing to do with you and your money, but everything to do with decision making. As you know, I have said nothing personal. I don't know how the defense secretary of this country
Starting point is 00:33:00 still has a job after the total miscalculation in Iran. Well, the latest, they want to live stream a public execution with a firing squad. I don't know what you think. I think he's nuts. This is not United States of America. North Korea does that. And yet, the guy they are going to be shooting.
Starting point is 00:33:23 was a murderer, terrorist. Sorry, not in the camp. You don't live stream it. If you want people to see it, let him decide on seeing it. You know, when you have public executions on the death penalty, the families are allowed to see it. That should be the it. I think this is a moronic decision.
Starting point is 00:33:57 And I must tell you, this guy scares the hell out of me. And I hear he's probably going to run for president. Oh, well. By the way, I'd say it to his face. Nothing personal. He works for me. He works for you. We're allowed to critique him.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Government employee works for us. Just remember that. But of course, these days, it's the other way around. We work for them. Speaking of grifters, go read the story about the ambassador from Greece and what this woman tried to do and
Starting point is 00:34:34 looks like guilty as sin which begs the question she still has a job today unbelievable by the way she's not alone the grifting that has been going on
Starting point is 00:34:54 in D.C. from both parties as you know I've been taken down Trump with their grifting with the family you know about the Bidens they're lucky the people really don't have the power.
Starting point is 00:35:14 We have no power anymore. If we had power, don't you think all this corrupt inside of trading would go by the wayside quickly? We really have no power. They've taken over. You know, we're just marks for their con. Don't you think?
Starting point is 00:35:36 You know, a lot more people are thinking like me. Optimistic on us? I've never been more optimistic on us. You and me and our businesses, our doctors, our nurses, our firemen and women, our police men and women, our construction workers. You know, in buildings, people go up, how do you go on scaffolding? Would you ever go on one of those scaffoldings?
Starting point is 00:36:11 How about the medical breakthroughs from our companies, technological advancements? We're kicking ass. They suck. Somewhere along the line, we the people, remember those three words? Got to take over again. We've got to make them believe they're accountable. Donald Trump thinks he's accountable and no one. And he's right.
Starting point is 00:36:44 The things he has gotten away with, the things Biden got away with, Trump goes after the Fed head, Powell supposedly for overspending. Trump had somebody arrested for what the that that water thing in DC when it was his own person that screwed up and he couldn't take it so he got somebody arrested. Because the bull crap is that? Going after your enemies. Pardoning your buddies who pay millions of dollars. Pardoning white-collar criminals that never have to pay restitution anymore.
Starting point is 00:37:25 It's sickening. Biden did the same thing. there's got to be a point where we get pissed enough and make this president, the last president, the next president believe they're accountable. Right now, there's no freaking accountability. Anybody disagree? I bet you can't.
Starting point is 00:37:54 You may disagree, but you couldn't come up with reasoning. The amount of executive orders never believed there would be like that. never would believe we'll keep on it we'll see how it goes my hope is the next president
Starting point is 00:38:21 thinks he does work for us and respects us because this one doesn't the last one didn't the one before that lied about Obamacare and Bush started the vertical move in federal spending and massive debt
Starting point is 00:38:47 to the point where one point something trillion is going towards interest. You think I'm wrong? 40 trillion in overspending? They've still done nothing about Social Security, even though it's going to run out in six years, seven years, where we may have to cut it a certain percent. And it's a gimmy. Something's got to be done because people living longer.
Starting point is 00:39:23 That's a gimmy. But you know why nobody doing anything about it? I want to be reelected. And of course, one party blames the other and vice versa. Have I thrilled you going into the weekend? Well, I got to tell you something. It's all food for thought, kids. I think the best news is we're going to have a gridlock the next two years.
Starting point is 00:40:00 Definitely a Democratic House, definitely a Republican presidency. Senate still up for grabs. All right. Have a great weekend. Drive carefully when you get home, do like I do. Make sure you hug your family, hug your children. Hug your pet. Until Monday.
Starting point is 00:40:19 Thanks for joining. Have a good night. This has been Investors Edge with Gary Cult Bomb on BizTalk. To listen to past episodes or to get in contact with Gary, go to GaryK.com. That's GaryK.com.
