Starting point is 00:00:47 Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen. Happy that you are listening. It's Monday. It's April 14th. It's 2025. I want to start out by thanking Adam Sarhan for doing Thursdays and Friday, Thursday and Friday, yeah, Thursday and Friday show. As you know, my father, 93 and a half, it's the best way I can put it. Taking a turn for the worse at that age, had pneumonia.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Looks like they have that fixed up, but old age has taken over. and I don't know timing, but using the fact that my father almost made the Yankees. That's how great of an athlete he was. I think we're in the late innings. I am around if need be for him, and I am around. So I spent 22 hours next to him. I did a little sater with him. It's on my X feed.
Starting point is 00:01:49 It used to be Twitter. You can go check that out. I must tell you, my mother passed away on Thanksgiving night at the age of 91 and change. My father's 93 and a half. And I'm so grateful all their friends, all their relatives, I think 99 out of 100 years ago. So we're so grateful, but I have to tell you, at any age, it is just plain tough. And to see at that age, you see the frustration in him, in, you know, trying to just do anything. And it's, that's what gets me.
Starting point is 00:02:39 So we're doing everything possible. Interesting, the head nurse on the floor looks at me. She goes, I know you. You're the Fox guy. I watch Fox 24-7, so that was good to hear. And of course, I'm a very smart guy. I bought three gigantic large pizzas for the floor both days. Three days in a row.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Was it three days in a row? Yeah. And without saying anything, and they watch over my dad. I'm hoping we can get him home. That's my big hope right now. I want to thank everyone who has reached out. much appreciation. I am a right now a sea of all kinds of emotions, knowing there is an end result here. And thank you. Thank you all. We have a job to do here in case you don't know this is serious talk about everything that affects you.
Starting point is 00:03:52 the markets, the economy, your job, your industry, this administration, that the title of this show is they never clam up. I'm almost like maybe they can do like a Joe Biden for a week and go to the beach. And I'll explain that in a minute. We'll do the tariffs because we have to. and we're going to do it without any agenda, ulterior motive, or bias. We are not R. We are not D. You got that? We are not I.
Starting point is 00:04:32 We're not Whig Party. Well, I'm an independent. I left the Republican Party many moons ago when I realized they're just the Democrat Party, and the Democrat Party was the Marxist Party. That's how the waves have gone. I don't know if you know this. I don't know if you know this. the Republican Party just approved five more trillion in debt going forward.
Starting point is 00:04:57 And they tell you it was fantastic. Do you know that? I bet you didn't know that, did you? Their budget, this thing, they're signing up, whatever, and they're going to do tax cuts. Five trillion dollars added to our debt. Just letting you know. If you do not get this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com. We'll also post it on our Twitter feed, which is,
Starting point is 00:05:21 is now X. And if you don't follow us on X, you should. And you can see this little Seder. I was doing my father and the amazing thing. And my father can't really, to the point of not really able to enunciate well, before I even started, in case you don't know in Passover, there's the four questions which start, Man Ishtana. He started doing it. And then a rabbi came later, but we'd even No, they were just making rounds. And my father can't eat any solid food. They brought a piece of moths, and we just put it down. And he said to my, I said to the rabbi, we did a satyr.
Starting point is 00:05:59 As I said that, my father starts singing Hebrew again. So that felt great. And we move forward. So I was not here Thursday and Friday. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm just going to tell you how I feel. I'm just going to tell you what I see. We do it without any favor or any worry about who may be upset by it or who may applaud us for it. This administration needs to take a class from the corrupt left.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Not being corrupt, but the corrupt left in that. Just remember what the corrupt left. left did over the last few decades. They tried to con us, and it was all for dollars, with global cooling. Remember that? You can go online and see all the front covers of every magazine, global cooling, and then it got hot out. So they changed it to global warming. And in unison, the message was global warming. Remember the word unison? And then it started blizzarding Is that a word blizzarding? Around the globe, they got in a room with an advertising agency and a marketer,
Starting point is 00:07:38 and they came up with climate change so they can never be wrong, and they all say the same message over and over and over again. Not this administration. One of the great attributes of any great boss is you've got to keep your people in line. You have to have them work together as a team. not corrupt. I use the word corrupt with the Marxists. So let me tell you what I saw
Starting point is 00:08:08 while I was sitting in the hospital with my father. I saw the president flip-flop a thousand percent. Total flip-flop on everything he had said, everything he had done the next day. He went from one day China up yours,
Starting point is 00:08:35 145 percent tariffs to no tariff. And by the way, don't get me wrong. I love that. But he didn't tell any of his people. None of them knew. He just did it on his own. And then his commerce secretary goes out and undercuts him on national TV. And then Trump disavows the first thing he said, about 145% to zero.
Starting point is 00:09:11 No, it's 20% and he blamed it on the media. It wasn't the media's fault. It was the boss's fault. So the corrupt Marxists at least know how to keep a message intact. This administration doesn't. And that's why the markets are all over the freaking map. I can fix this. You know, they have a woman, what's her name, Susan Wiles, supposedly,
Starting point is 00:09:42 She runs the show there. I'm not so sure she's doing a good job. I think one of her jobs should be, everybody's got to be in line. Is it a tariff? Is it not? What's the number? What's the date?
Starting point is 00:10:01 What's the product? And on who? Do you know I consider myself very learned and on top of things? I can't figure out a freaking thing on who's already tariffed, who's not. What's next and when and where and how and why? It's insanity from the leader of the free world. And they wouldn't blame the media.
Starting point is 00:10:30 No. They're all over the map and they're running different football fields. Just letting you know. Notice I didn't even mention the tariff part yet. though boy I love when they get rid of them because remember what we told you tariffs suck they'll recognize it one day hopefully and they'll do something about it
Starting point is 00:10:56 and they're backing and moving and I don't know where they are but just remember what the tariffs did they crash the market they stopped commerce in different settings and it forced them to change everything up next we'll continue with that and then we got to do the markets which are about as spastic as thick as can be. Their zero-chafe thanks to four times more stretch than competing brands, and their innovative horizontal quick-draw fly is a game changer. Real Tours are members of the National Association of Realtors, right by you. It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working.
Starting point is 00:14:13 You're listening to. Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. So, while I was gone, I don't even know how many times they change their stance. And markets were just all over the map, including today.
Starting point is 00:14:45 And as I said to you, I stay on top of everything. Do you know at 6 a.m., I'm on the Wall Street Journal. I read the New York Times. Financial Times, Bloomberg, briefing.com. I have a chain on my Twitter X feed from people that put stuff out that I follow. I'm on everything. I can't figure out where they are on tariffs and to whom and how and what because they've changed it so many times in the last few days.
Starting point is 00:15:20 It's got to stop. Here's why. They're going to crash the markets again. You don't think the market's going to crash again with so much confusion? And they're going to have to change their stance again. And just remember, we were right, they were wrong. The administration was wrong. We were right.
Starting point is 00:15:43 tariffs suck. And for those you emailing telling me, though, the tariffs are good, I don't hear you, I don't see you emailing me anymore saying, tariffs are bad, because they're getting rid of them from a bunch of people. The excuse of negotiating deals. They haven't negotiated one deal. And in case you don't know, when they say they spoke to 50, 50 countries called, 70 country called 100. No, they didn't. No, they didn't. When the president said, they're kissing my arse, no, they didn't. The leaders of these countries have egos, as big as Mount Fuji. They're not just going to sit and take it. They got to get their message straight. They've got to get their economic policy stopping with the fiddle faddle all over the place. you got to get rid of the tariffs that even three days ago the president said China pays from
Starting point is 00:16:55 that is BS and everyone knows it so I don't know why he keeps saying it oh but he went to UFC and they all applauded him I couldn't give a crap I want from my president to stop the BS put in great policy and get the hell out of the way what is in our line forever. All the president has to do is, one, secure the border. A plus plus by the president. A plus plus. Joe Biden, there's not even a letter I can even give him. That's how bad he sucked on the border and did it on purpose. Donald Trump is saving lives at the border. God bless him for that. Joe Biden, missing children, people dying, crossing rivers and in the hot trucks trying to sneak in.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Donald Trump has saved lives. A plus plus. Trying to make the tax cuts permanent. That means you and I keeping more of their money. A plus plus. They're cutting regulations. I'm not sure which one's just yet, but they are. Doge.
Starting point is 00:18:10 And they're fixed it up a little bit. Remember I told you they need to fix it up. You can't just throw everything against the wall. cutting corruption and slees and size of government, terrific. And then what do they do? They put in a bill, a $5 trillion more debt. So he's doing great things. And as we tell you, just do those great things
Starting point is 00:18:36 and just get out of the way. And watch what the great American people and the great American industry does. All these complaints about trade deficits. You've been BS. Do you know why you got trade deficits? because we buy a lot of crap from countries a lot smaller than us, so they're going to buy a lot less from us.
Starting point is 00:18:57 That's not going to change. I promise you that's not going to change. And the other miscalculation, oh, we want all these manufacturers. Do you know how long it takes to build manufacturing plants and get supply chains up? You can't do it in a day, week, month, or even a year. Yet, those tariffs, holy crap. They were wrong. We were right.
Starting point is 00:19:21 And that's why they bet 145%. The hell was that. So I think they're now 20. I think. And all those countries, aren't those all gone and there may be 10%? Which, by the way, everybody can walk around. So I have no pipeline to the president, but I'd be his best friend and I would solve his problem in nanoseconds.
Starting point is 00:19:51 who's ever given advice sucks. And maybe he's not taken any advice. That's all you've got to do. And of course, markets have been all over the map. And unfortunately, things leaked and corrupt sleaze bags in the administration. We're friends of front-run. We're front-running the announcements. I know this is fact, by the way.
Starting point is 00:20:17 You've got to just go see the options chains on Apple before this thing with China. and go back the other day. And I'm not accusing the president, but I accuse others who I do not know. But the market's been all over the map. And frankly, on a short run basis, I have no clue.
Starting point is 00:20:38 I can tell you today, the NASDAQ opened up 400 and change. Midday was down 55, with like 10 minutes the goat was back up 230 and dropped 130 points before you can blink into the close. The Dow was up
Starting point is 00:20:53 550, then it was back to almost even, then back up 500 and change, and drop 200 into the close. So it's really all over the map, but I don't know what's next. I forgot to mention the morons at the Fed. Friday, one of them does an article with the Financial Times an interview. We've got tools. Yeah, they got tools that created the worst inflation since 1978. They didn't see it coming the inflation. Then they said it was transitory.
Starting point is 00:21:21 And then, oops, they got tools. They got squat. And then today another Fedhead comes out. Oh, yeah, we got two cuts. Two rate cuts. It was a Collins on Friday woman and a guy named Waller today. Oh, we got two rate cuts. How does he know?
Starting point is 00:21:43 He knows where the market's going to be soon? In three months, two months. And you know what he just did? He told everybody the market already knows if they do it. The other thing that happened recently is interest rates really spiked up. I don't know why. People have told me why, but I don't know why. But today they came down to 4.364 in the 10 year, down a big 1.2.9.
Starting point is 00:22:06 That's a big drop today, but it also had a big rally up. And we don't want to see rates continuing to go up. You know why. Cost the capital. Oil prices have come down markedly, worry about demand in the economy. But we don't mind. prices coming down. That's terrific. But not if we're going into some big, big, deep recession or depression. Ooh, did I say depression? No, I didn't. And then the markets. Remember what I said short term?
Starting point is 00:22:34 All over the map. Gaps to the upside, gaps to the downside, smashes, crashes. We've seen 2,000 point rallies in 30 minutes and 2,000 point drops in 30 minutes. I'm not making this up. up next. Oh, and it's earning season. We'll talk about that. Today's action and whatever else. And don't get mad at me for telling the truth. That's all we do here is tell the truth. This is the one only investor's edge.
Starting point is 00:23:10 Guys, it's no use putting it off. The best time for an underwear refresh is now. Tommy John underwear is designed for a perfect fit that stays put all day. There's zero-chafe thanks to four times more stretch than competing brands. and their innovative horizontal quick draw fly is a game changer. See Capital One.com for details. Hey, it's Howie Mandel, and I am inviting you to witness history as me and my Howie Do It Gaming Team take on Gilly to King
Starting point is 00:24:19 and Wallo 267's million dollars gaming in an epic Global Gaming League video game showdown. Four rounds, multiple games, one winner. Plus a halftime performance by multi-platinam artist, Travis, Travis, Travis McCoy. Watch all the action and see who wins
Starting point is 00:24:34 and advances to the championship match against Neo. Right now at global gaming league.com. That's global gaming league.com. Everybody games. You're listening to. America is talking. Investors Edge.
Starting point is 00:24:52 He's got to be pleased with Dad. The crowd is just on its feet here. He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel better if you talk to him. And before I get into the market today and whatever else I'm seeing, I'm Donald Trump's best friend.
Starting point is 00:25:20 The person who kisses his butt and says, yes, sir, on everything he says, is his worst enemy. Just remember that. Okay, as I said today, the market was all over the moment. map, it's just a normal day, but not as bad as some of the other days. It's been absolute insanity. Why? Because as I said, a lot of yapping. They don't stop. Lutnik, Navarro, the president. And by the way, this guy Lutnik, who people are mad at, just remember what he did. He's one of the most magnificent men on earth. He more than most was affected by 9-11. Cantor Fitzgerald. Cantor Fitzgerald. Cantor-Fid's
Starting point is 00:26:07 Gerald got hit hard 9-11. And I think he wasn't in the office that day. I think he was taking his son or daughter to something. That's the only reason he wasn't there. You know what he did? He made sure the families were taken care of. And any children of the families that wanted a job got a job and created a great, great company.
Starting point is 00:26:34 I love this guy. And people are complaining. about oh he talks yeah i'd say he needs to tone that down and get with the that's the whole message the whole message so we have polar opposites you got the moron biden who just was at the beach sleeping and you have trump that boy he was up two in the morning on his plane doing an interview all he's got to do is listen to me lower the taxes less regulations fix that budget Get out of the way. How hard is that?
Starting point is 00:27:16 Do you know what kind of technological advancements and medical breakthroughs this country is doing right now? It's magnificent. The productivity gains we're going to get through the years, but they've got to get out of the way. It shouldn't be so hard. Trump loves golf, right? He can be on the golf course a lot more. Just get out of the way. And these tariffs get the enough.
Starting point is 00:27:43 enough. Okay, a few things bigger picture. Number one, all we got going right now, bigger picture, is we already had a bearish phase and then a crash. We got one of the most stretched, extended, and oversold conditions we have seen in ages. What that means is a move very far, and very fast. Could be the upside, could be the downside. And what happens is eventually, those stretched, extended, and oversold conditions have to get worked off.
Starting point is 00:28:34 How do they get worked off? It's pretty simple. They bounce when they've been dropping. They pull back when they're going too far to the upside. And all we're doing right now is very much working off a crash. And I have to tell you big picture, I know we've rallied off the crash lows. All it looks like to me so far is a bearish phase strong bounce off of the most stretched, extended, and oversawed condition in ages. and as we scan 1,500,000 stocks every day, 200 sectors every day, every country, every commodity every day,
Starting point is 00:29:28 even though we've had a move up and wild swings and announcements up to wazoo and we're taking a pause for 90 days and we're going from 145% to 0% to 20% on China, it looks like a strong bounce in a bare phase and I am worried for the days and weeks. ahead no matter what why bearish phases bare markets have to play themselves out there's a process to it as you know if you have followed me if you have really paid attention to moi and this show we've got a great feel for bare phases and what they look like how they act the process and that's inclusive of the crazy stuff from administrations. So stay tuned. Anything is possible. Nothing is ever written in stone.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Patterns can we get weird patterns every now and then. We're just letting you know not so sure we're out of the woods. I hope we are. I'm not so sure we're out of the woods. How's that? Let me tell you another thing that bothers me. A little thing. I don't know if it's a big thing, but how many times on this show throughout the years I have said to you, oh, this is not good. There's too much froth and speculation. And what we say next usually leads to trouble.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Froth and speculation is a characteristic that happens near tops, not bottoms. You need to know that. Froth and speculation happens during bull phases. They don't usually happen in bare phases, bear markets. Why? Because people's juices are flowing when markets are ripe. When markets are not ripe, they are running for the hills. Well, I just want to let you know that starting newsmax, you know newsmax, right? It is a right-wing cable company.
Starting point is 00:31:56 They did a $10.00 IPO. It opened at 14 and went to the next day to $265, closing at $233. Massive froth and speculation. And of course, that day we tell you, because we have the same language every time, they'll eventually go back to where they came from based on valuation. It's gone from 265 back to 26. And this is not a put-down of the company. We're talking about the stock.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Froth in speculation after a crash, that scares the willies out of me, and that is in my file manager, but I'm not done. You know those SPACs, these special acquisition companies, SPACs, and there was a bunch of fraud and ridiculousness, and everybody was starting an electric vehicle company or electric battery. company. It was all a bunch of BS and one guy went to jail and Trump pardoned him even and that pissed me off, the guy from Nikola. Why do you pardon a crook? Special purpose acquisition.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Well, here's one. We bull. I'm going to even tell you. Symbol bull. They did a merger. That's all they did. They did a merger with a company. That's all they did. It's been trading. It's been out since let's see. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:33:26 It's a SPAC that came out in 22 and has done nothing and is hardly traded. So they did a merger. Yay. They did a merger. Yay. They put in a company. Yay. Something called SK Growth Opportunities Corporation.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Whatever the hell that is. The stock went from, let's see. Closed yesterday at $13. closed today at 63. 13 to 63 because they closed an acquisition. And I must tell you, I don't even know what they do. But 13 to 63. Catching my drift?
Starting point is 00:34:18 Froth in speculation. After a crash? In the midst of a crash? Oh, ex-speaker of the house John Boehner is on the company. Yay. Terrific. And as best as I can read it, I don't think they have any sales. I'll have to look that up.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Don't quote me on that. But a $10 spec is $63 because they did a merger. So massive froth and speculation. Massive froth and speculation. Massive frothed speculation in a bare market? And after a crash? Hey, peeps, just remember that. Put that in your file manager?
Starting point is 00:35:15 Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it's nothing. It's in my file manager. Hey, up next, what else we got for you? We'll figure it out. Thanks for being here. This is the one only investor's edge. Guys, it's no use putting it off.

Thanks for being with us today. And then there's earnings. Just so you know, we're in the midst of earnings season, big time.
Starting point is 00:37:57 On Friday, we had some banks, big banks, Bank of New York, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo. Report, and even Black Rock reported. And for lack of a better way to put it, they really didn't have a lot of it. done much. We had a good day Friday, so some were down and finished up. But I can tell you, Bank in New York really didn't do anything, and it's down a bunch. Black Rock is up a little bit, but is really down a lot. J.P. Morgan had a good day Friday, pulled back today, even when the market was up 500. Morgan Stanley, just up a little bit, even though it's down a lot. Wells Fargo. is actually down from the earnings report, actually about flat.
Starting point is 00:38:42 So Goldman Sachs reports today was up 17, finishes up nine and change. But the high was 672 in February. It's 504 today being up nine bucks today. So not the greatest thing ever. But I need to let you know that we are now on earnings watch tomorrow morning, Bank America, Citigroup, Johnson and Johnson and the Dow PNC Bank. So three big banks, PNC more regional, but big. After the closed, J.B. Hunt, a big trucker.
Starting point is 00:39:13 And you know the transports and the truckers and rails have been terrible. Omnicom, I think they're the biggest advertisers out there. United Airlines, the airline stocks have been terrible. And by the way, let me just tell you something. I had a fly home last night. And I had to do the flight the night before. and then I'm flying back to my father very quickly. Do you know with one day to go, just a flight from any New York airport down to Orlando, Florida,
Starting point is 00:39:45 the cheapest airfare was $4.80. There was some airfares in economy for $1,500. Let me tell you something. I don't feel any happy for these airlines to charge $1,500 in economy from a flight from New York to Florida because it's the day before. You know what they're telling their passengers? Ha ha! One of those airlines should do the opposite,
Starting point is 00:40:17 and you know how much goodwill they will get? And by the way, they all follow each other. There were a few airlines at 12 to 1,500 bucks. Ha ha, you had a book of flight the day before you had an emergency? Ha ha. Pay us. Rest of the week, very important semiconductor ASML Holdings, Travelers in the Dow.
Starting point is 00:40:46 rail, progressive. The insurance stocks are still a port in the storm. They croaked on that Friday crash, but a bunch of them are coming back. American Express in the Dow, Charles Schwab, Charles Schwab, United Health in the Dow, and that's been coming on better after you know what happened with the murder. By the way, I saw some journalist said that the murder, what's his name, Luigi, has moral clarity or something? Let me tell you something. If that was my father he murdered. If Luigi was in the court and I was in the court, Luigi had been knocked out 17 times to Sunday. And people sent like him $400,000 for the defense fund.
Starting point is 00:41:28 A wimp that shot a man in the back, couldn't even look at him in the face. A stupid wimp. People are sending him money for his defense. What do I say? Up yours. What else is important? State Street Bank, United Health, as I said, the Dow. Netflix, Thursday after the close, and Netflix is one of my favorite four relative strength growth names as of this second versus everything else.
Starting point is 00:41:57 But they report earnings and you never know what earnings are going to do so you can't touch right now. Blackstone Taiwan Semiconductor. Remember Taiwan Semiconductor. You got to own it, AI, this, AI, that. And it's gone from 226 to 156. And by the way, that's actually a good one. that's how bad the semis have been so we got that and as we go through the next week
Starting point is 00:42:19 everything's reporting retail reports a couple of weeks after that but all the big ones are going to be reporting and most of them act poorly and just some tidbits today that stood out Apple was up 17 on the open 16 or 17 because Apple's a benefactor
Starting point is 00:42:39 of the China thing We went from 145 to 20 because I think 80% of their stuff are built there or something like that. Finished up including aftermarket 3.320. After being up almost 17. What does that define? Distribution. Institutions took the advantage of Apple being propped up because of news. Get me the hell out.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Those are the things we're always watching. those are the things we're always paying attention to and because things were hot early I can tell you NVIDIA hit 114 closed at 110 I can tell you meta opened up today get this at 557 closed at 530 27 bucks down and a lot of everything else reversed to the downside
Starting point is 00:43:34 because we opened hot sold off could have been much better could have been much worse But big picture again, I'm not thrilled. I'm not thrilled. The same areas with strength pretty much the same. I've got the waste management. Everything got hit in the crash, but the things come back quicker.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Waste management. Tobacco. Some other staples, you know, that would be food and beverage and things like that. I think Coke acts well. I think Coke may be near new highs. McDonald's, for whatever reason, is. defensive in the Dow. I can tell you supermarkets, some discount retailers, BJ's wholesales and T.J. Max, I think, are both right at highs, which is amazing. And after that, there's not much else.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Phone companies, they've got good relative strength. All defensive. Auto parts retail. It's defensive. Why would it be defensive? Well, if you're not going to buy a car, you're going to have to do a lot of things with the car if you keep it for a lot of years or if you're buying a use car. That's what we mean by defensive and that is something we are paying attention to because we need to see some beta, some growth, some other things and not so sure we're there yet. That all said, have a great evening drive carefully and don't be mad at me for telling the truth. We are dead serious about what we do. And when you get home, do like we do, very simple. Make sure you hug your family. Make sure you hug your children. They will feel better. You will feel better. I promise.
