Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum.
Straight talk about you and your money.
Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum.
And welcome once again to Investors Edge.
I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host.
A thanks for being with us today.
Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen, happy that you are listening.
It's Tuesday, February 11, 2024.
Hope you're having a good day.
In case you don't know, this is serious talk about everything that affects you.
The markets, the economy, your job, your industry, doge, the new administration, the old
administration, everything they've done to us throughout the years, and whatever else comes to
mind.
And if you do not get this radio show in your city, we'll post it at garyk.com.
We'll also post it on our Twitter feed, which is now X.
And if you don't follow us on Twitter, you should.
And if you like to email us, just be nice, because we'll be nice back.
We can disagree 1,000 percent, but we can still have a little respect unless you're
Kanye West, unless you're a Nazi, unless you love Hamas.
then we have a little problem.
Lots to cover today on the markets.
Lots to cover.
But first, I've been doing little lists every day on this show of what our government has been doing throughout the years.
That is, given us the big gigantic middle finger.
If you are friends or donors with the people that dole out the money,
and we're not talking about loans, we're talking about grants where you don't have to pay,
them back, you get it. You know, I used to think in order to get money from the government,
you probably had to fill out a bunch of applications, wait a few months, get vetted, and then
you maybe get a dollar and a half. But no, if you are buddies, if your friends, you get 10 million,
20, 50 million, 100 million, and you don't have to pay it back and nobody gives a crap what you did.
And I'm not going to give you a list today. I just want to explain something to each
every one of you because you are watching a bunch of politicians saying vile things about Elon Musk,
vile things about Elon Musk. And I just want you to remember a couple of things. I've never met the man.
I don't own a Tesla. And by the way, Tesla stock is really getting hit hard right now.
For ages, we here have been warning you and telling you, and telling you,
you and listing for you how bad it is in Washington, D.C.
And you didn't even need my help.
We're going towards $37 trillion of debt now.
We have $2 trillion yearly deficits,
and right now this year, a run rate of three.
On top of that,
we know the Biden family collected millions of dollars
and just pardon the whole family.
We know all this.
it was in plain sight.
If the media wanted to, they could have destroyed them.
But the media did their job, and that is, oh, we're going to kiss the butts on one side and go after the other side.
And you know what I mean when they did their job.
And then we've been listening for you, the corruption.
We've been naming names.
We've been given you organizations.
And I'm thinking to myself, and you, all you logical people,
out there you got to be thinking to yourself why would any politician be upset with
Elon Musk in the Trump administration for trying to root out craziness with our tax
dollars you know they're finding where 50 million dollars went to some entity
and 30 million was compensation eight months
million was travel, you catch in my drift, organizations were created to make people wealthy
while doling out a little bit here and there. You know, there's a sitting congressman right now
from Brooklyn who's been elected election after election many years ago created a charity
for one of the hurricanes and all the money went missing. And he still gets
selected. You know, Ilan Omar gave like three million bucks of her campaign money to her husband's
business. And of course, they came back and said there's nothing wrong with that. Really?
But I digress. We're finding out exactly what I told you was going on. Abuse, thievery, grants,
where people don't have to pay back.
And up until now, no checks and balances,
no accountability,
nobody looking over the shoulders.
They got away with it.
And now that they can't get away with it anymore,
people are yelling and screaming.
That's what's going on.
You must know that.
And by the way, we don't care if it's our,
or D.
We don't.
But there's sheer insanity.
When I can list for you,
$2 million went to some
country for
dancing
while we
have homeless veterans.
You want to get sick to your
stomach. But they have
made the word million into nothing.
They've made the word billion,
the number billion, into a footnote.
Ten billions a footnote. Ten billions a footnote.
note. And here we have people trying to do something about it, save our money, do the right
thing, and you got Maxine Waters, who by the way, in 2008 got our husband's bank bailed out
in nefarious fashions. Go look it up. And you got a few more Democrats having fits. Schumer,
he's been in D.C. for about 30 trillion of our debt, yet he's talking about how Elon Musk is out to get the taxpayer.
By the way, I'm talking to you Democrats. I know where Republicans stand on all this because everybody takes the sides and you know who's in the White House.
You Democrats out here better realize that you have a bunch of people on your side that are crooks.
and would steal from you.
And they're the ones complaining.
Imagine your tax dollar,
somebody out there to protect it,
and they're getting blasted as a Nazi.
We'll keep covering it.
I promise you.
But I'm going to let you know
we're going to be very careful about it.
We have seen plenty of BS
things put out there on the web.
And we double and triple
and quadruple check.
and we found some things that are just plain old BS, as I stated.
But you know how you know, nefarious things are going on?
Let me tell you what they're experts at.
Creating philanthropic organizations and organizations, democracy of the world, anything like that.
You know.
It is made to enrich themselves.
Simple as that.
You know, there's something for charities called Charity Navigator.
As a long-term board member, the Boys and Girls Club is Central Florida.
We've always got high marks.
And the reason we always got high marks is because we make every dime count.
And we respect every dime of our donors.
and our sole goal is to enhance the lives of the kids,
young men and women who come to the clubs,
not to enrich people,
but to save young men and women
that may or may not be at risk.
With these other miscreants,
not so much.
We'll keep listing it,
because they keep showing up every day.
I can't believe some of the things they are finding.
We knew it.
It's worse than I thought.
And the good news is,
I'm pretty sure they're going to be able to knock out a trillion bucks a year.
That's the good news.
The bad news, nobody's going to go to jail.
Because it's legalized thievery.
That's what these are.
people are professionals at legalized thievery you know we've seen charities created where 80% of the
money go to compensation legalize thievery you'll keep checking on get pissed off and if you
see one of your elected official part of them vote them out up next I got a lot to
talk about on the markets ladies and gentlemen that's one of those days I'm Gary this is the one

Investment Advisory Services offered through Call Bomb Capital,
management. Hello, hello, I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM. I recently sat down
with IBM's chairman and CEO, Arvin Krishna. And I asked him, how can companies use AI to its
fullest potential to create smarter business? My one advice to that, pick areas you can scale. Don't pick
the shiny little toys on the side. For example, if anybody has more than 10, 10,000,
10% of what they had for customer service 10 years ago,
they're already five years behind it.
If anybody is not using AI to make their developers who write software 30% more productive today,
with the goal of being 70% more productive.
Yeah. Wow.
So we are not asking our clients to be the first experiment on it.
We say, you can leverage what we did.
We're happy to bring out all our learnings, including what needs to change
in the process, because the biggest change is not technology,
is getting people to accept that there's a different way to do things.

It's time to switch on the integrator units and get the brain cells working. You're listening to
Hey, this promises to be fun. Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary
called bomb it doesn't get better than this and well once again to investors edge so there are days that we
come on the show oh but one more thing uh they are going to uh kennedy will get in and so will
tulsie gabbert uh all the republicans have fallen in line um i really don't have an opinion on
gabbert except I know she kissed the butt of some nefarious places in the past. We'll see how
that goes. I am no fan of Kennedy. Zero. But everybody gets an opportunity. And if he does a good
job, we'll let you know. But I would say it to his face. He's a lying sack. And he got through
because people have fallen in line for the president. Otherwise, there's no way he would get the vote.
I don't want somebody that a thousand times on video says,
we've got to get rid of the polio vaccine, and now,
I never said that.
It's tiresome.
But we hope he does a good job.
And by the way, I don't mind.
I don't mind them looking at.
I don't know if you know this, and this is a true story,
that things like Fruit Loops in Canada have in the U.S.,
the fruit loops have all kinds of chemicals in it but not in Canada.
Things like that.
I don't mind them looking at that.
I don't mind them talking about, you know, health.
We'll see how it goes.
Everybody gets the opportunity once voted in.
As I said, I think Heg-Seth is going to be a very good defense secretary.
I've only met him once.
I never even met him at Fox News.
I met him in Jerusalem when I was visiting.
there and he was doing a documentary.
All right.
A few things of note that stand out.
In no particular order, I am starting with Tesla.
That today was down another $22 in change.
It was $4.88 at the highs in December.
It's $3.28.5.
I don't know if you knew that.
It's given back a ton.
Here is what's happened.
every report that has come out
they are missing on the numbers
of cars they're selling
now all the people and the analysts that are bullish on Tesla
are saying well don't worry
because going forward it's going to be about
AI and robots and
driverless cars and this and that
well you know we always say
watch the stock
we stopped out of
the stock when it gapped down below the 50-day moving average.
I think that was at around, by the way, we made $100 bucks on it in that first go-round
in December.
You ready for this?
If I can get my, you know, it's amazing.
I need my pointer to go to one spot.
There you go.
389, six days ago.
It's 328 today.
So we just want to let you know because Elon Musk, with everything he's doing with everything else, he's got to sell cars.
And I can tell you his numbers out of Germany were very bad.
China not very good.
We'll see.
Just letting you know, analysts are fully bullish on it, but they'll turn bearish as it goes lower.
next thing I want to bring up
that I don't think I've done much on
but I think it's worth noting
there's been two coins
cryptos that were always
one two
Bitcoin one Ethereum
number two
for lack of a better word
Ethereum has been crashing
Bitcoin's been holding up fine
though off the highs value
about 9%
and trading below the 50 day.
We just want you to keep that in mind
because I don't care what anybody tells you,
it's still just an asset, Bitcoin.
And in the last bare market,
it went down 75%.
That is not a prediction.
But we just want to let you know,
regardless of all the talk
and whatever they're going to do
in the administration and worldwide,
it's just an asset.
That doesn't have a product,
doesn't have a service,
has no earnings, has no sales.
And in the last NASDAQ bear market, which I believe it's kind of mimicking, it dropped 75%.
So just letting you know, it is trading below the 50-day moving average right now.
Next line of support, well, I'm going to give you the IBIT.
We'll call it 52.
It's closed at 5411.
A break below 52 would not be good news.
So just wanted to bring that up.
Next thing I wanted to bring up, I had a whole list here.
Private equity stocks.
Companies that deal in mergers and acquisitions and stuff like that, we mentioned this before.
We're mentioning again.
They're under some serious pressure here and I don't know what it means for the markets.
And some of the investment bankers also.
But just letting you know things like Evercore, Apollo, Blackstone, Black Rock,
how about KKR?
How about Brookfield Asset Management broke the 50-day today?
TPG, I believe it's Texas Pacific Group.
They're all in bearish phases right now with pretty good tops in place.
not what I would call death knells, but pretty good tops in place.
Keep that in the file manager.
Because also, just noticing Carlisle Group, that's another one, AmeriPrize.
Raymond James, to a lesser extent, State Street, all just a little bit tipping over.
SEI investments, another one, mutual fund company, breaking the 50 day today.
We're just letting you know, keep that in mind.
But we're not done because the midcaps and the small caps remain under the 50-day moving average.
Just letting you know.
We want to let you know that Argentina stocks have been strong, but they're all breaking down now.
BBAR breaks the 50 day today.
just giving you a couple of symbols you may have never heard of.
A BMA, G-G-G-A-L, A-R-G-T-T, which is the E-T-F for Argentina,
just classically breaks the 50-day-a-day-day.
So just letting you know, there's some things going on you need to know.
Up next, I got a few more.
Thanks for being here.
This is the one-only Investor's Edge.
Hello, hello.
I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of Smart Talks with IBM.
I recently spoke with IBM's new director of research, Jake Mbeta.
We discussed his vision for the future of quantum computing.
At IBM research, what we always do is answer what is the future of computing,
whether it's coming up with new algorithms, coming up with better AI,
coming up with quantum, or coming up with just how do different accelerators go together.
It's our DNA to answer the question of what is the future.
Isn't it a perfect problem for IBM because you kind of need a
have a legacy of building stuff.
Yes.
Building actual physical machines.
Yeah, it's why I came to IBM.
I wanted the experience, the culture of building hard things that others have not done before.
Where do you imagine we are in the timeline of this technology?
There will come a point when it will mature.
My cell phone is a mature technology at this point.
How far are we from that point?
with quantum. By 2029, we'll build the first fault-tolerant quantum computer. That is one that can run a
very, very large, large problem. To learn how IBM is building the future of computing, visit IBM.com

He's your Cinderella boy
With Gary Colbub
Comes highly recommended
You're gonna feel better if you talk to him
Let's continue
And yes we're doing a bunch of
Just letting you know
Airlines
I think they're topping out
That's my guess
For now
We're talking now
We're talking in real time
I'm pretty sure they're topping out
some real bad
I could tell you
Southwest Airlines is already gross
JetBlue
gross
Some of the stronger ones
have been Delta
Looks like it's rolling over
United
Looks like it's rolling over
American
Looks like
Oh that broke the 50 days
So just letting you know on the
Airlines
I also want to let you know
Some of the
previously better retail.
And may I state for the record,
a lot of retail stocks are in bad shape.
But I'm just bringing up things like
Burlington.
How about that boot barn?
Didn't even know there was a boot barn.
Deckers with the big top as of recent.
Birkenstock
with the big top and
Skechers just got bled.
at also. Notice what we're doing here. We're just letting you know there's some areas.
The biotechs act terribly. If you look at the IBB or the BBA, it's just two ETFs. Gross.
We already know about the managed care. I've been talking about them forever, right?
Umana gaped up today, finished down nine bucks. Big bear market for Humana.
and some of the others.
And by the way, we're hearing United Health
is now actively pursuing people that went on social media
and made up stories about them
and they're going to sue their arses off, United Health.
They're taking the offensive United Health.
They ain't screwing around.
We'll let you know how that plays out.
You already know about most semiconductors.
Most. Terrible action.
The things that have held up best, mostly AI stuff.
But they're not ascending.
They're not bull markets, but there are a lot of big bear markets in the semis.
Let's keep that in mind.
Noticing, without naming names, just a decent amount of names starting to break the 50-day moving average a little bit.
Not the end of the world.
I wanted to bring that up.
And how do we know this?
Because we do the scans and we see it.
We write the list down.
And anything breaking the 50-day move-in average gets knocked off the front screen.
And we know the market's worsening when there are a lot of stocks getting knocked off the front screen.
The good news is there's still plenty of things working.
just less so.
And we say this with the Dow up 123 today.
The Dow was up because of a few stocks strong in the Dow.
But underneath the surface, there was a lot of what I would call ick.
We'll keep advising you on the ick and what to avoid and whatnot and all that fun stuff.
I also want to mention that, let's see how they finish today.
Carnival Cruise and Norwegian crews
both finish below the 50-day moving average,
not the end of the world.
And Royal Caribbean is still above.
Viking is still above.
So we'll give that an okay.
You already know about the home builders.
The best thing I can tell you about the home builders,
they are very much stretched
to the downside and they can bounce.
But certainly, their trend is down.
so the home builders
Hilton
the hotel broke out three days ago
and acts well
Marriott
dropped 17 bucks today
on 139% volume
earnings
missed
matter of fact earnings were down
31% year over year
I have yet to go through all the numbers
but those are the headline numbers
and the market didn't like that
And it's not very often Marriott would go one way and Hilton goes the other way as stocks.
They usually kind of sort of go hand in hand.
Next.
So a couple of Mondays ago we had that deep seek, this Chinese AI that was supposedly going to be trouble for the AI stocks.
And they all gaped down and they all crashed on that Monday.
They all crashed on that Monday.
Well, a lot of them have bounced pretty darn well.
A lot of them didn't bounce very darn well.
A lot of them bounce.
If something dropped 30 bucks, they bounce 10.
I think today a bunch of them hit the wall on their bounce.
And now we're going to measure.
Now we know a lot of things were news-driven.
I can tell you when something drops 30 and rallies up 15,
that is not a recipe for good.
especially if the next move is down 10.
That puts the stock in the soup.
And we're just letting you know in some of the building slash construction names,
these are the ones that's supposed to benefit from building all the data centers.
They don't look very good.
I can tell you the energy names, they look better than the construction names,
but they may have hit a wall today.
Maybe.
Not 100%.
And there was some semi-names and just not much going on there.
So we'll keep you informed on that.
On the good end, gold acts fine.
China has been acting well.
A bunch of pullbacks today, which is normal except for Alibaba
because they signed something with Apple.
and Apple was a big help to the market today.
Finished up five.
Was up, I think, wow.
It was up 760 at one time.
They're doing some AI collaboration.
Yippee, yeah, yay.
The big banks mostly act well.
Got no problem with them.
And just the big indices remain above,
but range bounds.
above the 50-day moving average,
and let's hope they stick.
A break below and a worsening of the advanced declines,
we shall notify you.
And of course, there are lots of jello moving on the plate
when it comes to earnings.
After the close, I got DoorDash up $8.
But I got SMCI Super Micro.
only down about four bucks on the day.
Whoopi do.
So a lot of that jello moving on the plate.
And we'll keep letting you know.
And what we do is we keep a list.
Today, S&P Global up 25, Eco Labs, up 15, DuPon up five.
And of course, there are things that bombed out today.
Always looking for, where's the big strength?
who's reporting earnings and what stocks are gaping up because of those earnings.
They go on a front screen and we pay a lot of attention to them.
Doesn't mean they work, but in the past, companies with great earnings and revenue growth
that had great reactions to earnings, whether breaking out or gaping up, very often, work out for
at least a quarter or two. We'll keep them in mind as we move forward. We're in the midst
of earning season. Most of us got through a ton of it already. It tapers off in the next couple of
weeks. We'll get a feel for things. But as long as the S&P and the NASDAQ stay above that 50-day,
opportunity, break below, we'll be talking. 10-year yield, 4.537.10.000.
a up point 44.
Oil prices up almost a buck.
We want to see the opposite.
The cost of energy
and the cost of capital
is vital for markets.
Up bad, down good.
And how many products are made with petroleum,
ladies and gentlemen?
A bazillion.
Up next.
This, that, and the other thing
and whatever else.
This is the one only investor's edge.

With Gary Culpa.
Well, as we are doing this show, I'm watching TV, and Elon and Donald are in the Oval Office.
And Elon has been speaking, and I'm glad I'm taping it.
I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
What a great American that this guy is doing the things I've been begging somebody to do for a decade or two.
And that is turn the government into inefficient and effective, making every dime count and getting rid of the sleaze, the slime, the payoffs, and the corruption.
I love that.
Every American should love that.
Think about that in your communities that need work, need help,
that they're going to save, I think, minimum a trillion a year.
And if that's spent, go towards things that really matter.
Not condoms in Burma.
I got nothing against Burma.
But I have to again mention this to you.
there is a man where my apartment is in New York City.
I think he's in his 60s.
He lives on the street.
He's a veteran.
I've had multiple conversations with him,
and nobody's doing squat for him.
Every time I'm there, I buy him food and drink.
yet in New York City
millions of dollars are spent
I just read 59 million
on a hotel
that's owned by Pakistan
from migrants that came here
illegally
yet this homeless veteran
can't get any help
I made a call for him
if I tell you I went through five different people
it's sheer insanity
So get off your sides, R or D, D, or R, and realize this guy's doing a great thing.
And the louder somebody complains, the more I wonder if they are in that soup.
And you know what I mean by?
That soup, ladies and gentlemen, you know the soup?
We're reading about people that had net worth of a million dollars five years ago and now have 20 million.
that ran some of these organizations.
And here's what you have to watch out for.
Without mentioning names, there was somebody who got accused
on social media about taking like $80 million.
And they came out and said, not true, not true, not true, not true.
Oh, it went to the charity.
Huh.
And I don't take a dime, they say.
through the charity.
Uh-huh.
Yet that person's net worth is through the roof.
Uh-huh.
I'm always careful about how the words come out.
Well, it really didn't come from that, but we'll keep on it, ladies and gentlemen.
Just remember, transparency is their enemy.
That's why they're yelling and screaming.
Transparency is their enemy.
They know the gravy train has stopped, at least for the next four years.
Don't know about after that.
And if we can get things under control, wow.
Because the people this country are doing wonderful things,
fantastic things.
And imagine if government
is no longer a hindrance,
but a helper.
Imagine that.
I'd like to.
In the aftermarket, upstart,
up nicely. DoorDash,
up nicely.
Gilead, up nicely.
Super Micro was down big, but now only down a little bit,
but the stock's been the death drop.
Zillow.
Down nicely.
That is your aftermarket.
I'm trying to say, oh, lift.
Down nicely.
While Uber has been up nicely in the last few days
because Bill Ackman took a big position in that stock.
Yeah, just double checking.
Yep, it was Bill Ackman.
Tomorrow, eh, earnings.
Oh, after the close, you ready?
Trade Desk, Robin Hood, Reddit.
Paycom, HubSpot, Dutch Brothers Coffee,
stocks been strong.
So some activity after the close tomorrow.
Lastly, Jay Powell was up on Capitol Hill today.
I didn't watch a word.
Couldn't care less.
Just remember, unless he's printing trillions, which he did,
he doesn't matter.
The only thing that matters is the 10-year yield.
Jay Powell can only do damage.
He creates nothing, does not control anything, even though they say they do.
Oh, yeah, we brought inflation down.
No.
Inflation came down because you stopped printing money.
Inflation went up because you printed to $9 trillion,
and Biden decided to spend several trillion above and beyond.
Inflation rate has come down, but inflation is still, prices are still late.
elevated in many sectors of the economy, and we have to be very, very careful about inflation going
forward. I'm not so sure we're out of the woods just yet. That's why I'm very worried about
these tariffs. I completely disagree with the president on tariffs, and I know a lot of people
say, well, it's a negotiating tool. We'll see. You know what I think. I wish him well. I hope
everything he does works. We're rooting for him. You have a great evening drive carefully when you get
