What's good man?
Trista, how are you?
What's good?
How was your day today Mace?
Oh man.
Today I had survivor's remorse.
Why?
I was looking at my account and I had survivor's remorse.
What's that exactly?
When you think about how you made it
and how many people didn't make it
and you start feeling sad.
Yeah.
It's like when you, you know, like a plane crashes,
you're supposed to be on, but you didn't go that day.
And you're like, why did I make it?
That's like two different things.
It's the same thing.
Nobody died in his scenario.
Oh, okay.
But that's like, that's the concept.
Yeah.
I would feel bad about what you just said.
I don't feel bad about what he said for me.
I don't get that.
I worked hard.
So that's why I said say I get the same scenario,
but I would be sad for that happy I made it,
but that's on murder, you don't have a guilty conscience.
It's still over there.
You know what I mean?
It's still there.
If you got that much survivors remorse,
it's still available.
You got it that bad?
You can go back anytime. I'm glad you got it.
I drove through our 33rd last time I was in New York and it's still open.
You got a bad bad or you got over it as the day went on. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. one more question. Since we got here that far. Would you ever spend the night on 33rd
between South and Lennox again?
Two weeks?
No.
A week?
No.
What if they say, yo, go to your old apartment
and for three days?
Not for three.
For a night.
No.
No.
No.
No.
No.
How long?
How long?
Wait, it might be condos now. Well, I'll just do that. They didn't renovate that joint. That block, that's one of the blocks they didn't get to yet.
They didn't get to that whole block they didn't get to yet.
Forget the Gatsby.
Got to get to some topics.
Okay, let's get into some NFL first.
I want to talk NFL Giants and Jets, both New York teams, and the NFL Giants and Jets. We'll get to some topics. Okay. Let's get into some NFL first.
I want to talk NFL giants and jets, both New York teams in desperate
need of a quarterback giants right now are looking at trading the number
three overall pick for Matt Stafford.
Uh, the jets are actually looking at maybe getting Justin Fields as a stop gap.
There's a lot of rumors around that.
Maybe the giants end up drafting a quarterback as well.
Mace, between the Jets and the Giants,
which of those two teams need to find
a competent quarterback the baddest this off season?
The Giants and the Jets?
Well, I actually think they both are
in kinda in the same place.
We're getting rid of Aaron Rodgers.
They cleared up a lot of capital,
but the same thing goes for the Giants.
But when you say who needs it more,
I think, hmm, I want to say the Giants.
The Giants needed more because at least they had some hope
with Aaron Rodgers, with Aaron Rodgers being there.
They thought they were going to get some wins.
I even thought they was going to be wins.
I actually had them as my sleeper team a year ago when Tito was here.
Shout out to Tito, shout out to Sin City and everybody who goes down with the Knicks and
the New York teams every year.
That's what I was thinking.
So either one of them you could pick, but I would say the Giants, definitely.
What do you think, Cam?
This offseason, not in general, but they have to get it right.
They've got to figure it out.
In general, because there's not they never get it right.
Even when the Giants win, it's not like they I'm talking about when they
win like the past couple of Super Bowls, it isn't like they have spectacular seasons.
They actually got to Super Bowl nine and seven.
I forget the record before that, but they don't have spectacular seasons.
They don't have 13 and three seasons, 14 and two,
you know, 12 and four.
I'm naming when it was 16 game.
But if you ask me in general who needs it more,
I'm gonna say the Jets probably need it more.
Only because, and the only reason I'm saying this
is because as much as we talk about the Cowboys
not winning the championship since 1900s, 1990s,
and then we always fuck with the Knicks and say, they haven't won since 1973.
The Jets haven't won before that.
I think Joe Namath was the last time niggas motherfucking won a Super Bowl,
Broadway Joe and all that.
So if you're asking for a franchise that needs help, I'm going to say the Jets
only in the quarterback position, only because the drought is crazy.
It's the longest New York team I believe that hasn't won a championship that I could think
of off the top of my head.
It isn't like I did any homework with this, but just in memory, I've seen the Giants when
I seen, I haven't seen the Giants, pardon me, I haven't seen the Knicks when I'm not
old enough for that.
And before that, I haven't seen the Jets when we seen the Giants, pardon me, I haven't seen the Knicks one, I'm not old enough for that. And before that, I haven't seen the Jets one.
We've seen the Giants one, we've seen the Mets one,
we've seen the Yankees one, we've seen the Rangers one,
maybe not the Allenders, but all the major teams,
I've been old enough to see them win.
But I'm going with the Jets purely
because they have loyal fans
and the franchise has been fucked up since I know, period.
They wasn't that bad when Rex Ryan was there and Sanchez, you know, the butt fumble pause
and all that, but they didn't get the job done.
They isn't a Tom Brady era.
They lucked up getting to where they went to in that era anyway.
And I think what's really interesting about that question, because you could very easily
see either one, right?
But the reason I kind of lean the Giants is,
at least the Jets have already cleaned house, right?
The new coach, new GM, they've basically said,
okay, you guys stink, we've gotten rid of our quarterback,
you've got pieces, you've got a good defense,
you got weapons, so it's gonna take a while.
But the Giants, like Joe Shane and Brian Dayball,
this is it, and they have the worst offensive line in all of football.
They've got one wide receiver. They've got really no running back. And you
can't really make any good moves if you're the Giants. You want to go
and get Matt Stafford? He's 37 years old. You got the worst offensive line in
football. You've got an injury-prone quarterback.'re getting fired. You went want to go ahead and get an
offensive lineman instead of a quarterback at three, you're probably
getting fired even though that's the best decision for you. You want to get
Chaudhuri and Cam Warden, they're running for their life the whole time, you're
probably getting fired. So I don't really know what the Giants do because it feels
like there is no win now move to make to keep them
Employed. Oh, yeah, that's great points
Giants got rid of Saquon Barkley. They don't deserve anything good. That's back
They're rid of a prize possession for not paying them so they get whatever they deserve as far as
Which is saying about the Jets,
and it may take a while,
a good quarterback with a good defense
or a decent defense and some weapons,
you may be, all right, we've seen Jaden Daniels
first year turn the organization around,
and not just him, of course, there's new people
in the front office, Scott Rodeo, et cetera, et cetera.
But a good quarterback helps.
We've seen what Joe Burrow did when he came in healthy, his first second
year, get into a Super Bowl, actually.
Good quarterbacks actually help.
But, um, and I think for the reasons you just said, that's the reason.
And maybe, and I get the question, who needs it more?
Maybe the Jets because they have all these things that you
named in place, possibly.
Yeah.
And, and actually when you're a front line, you, you block better when you're
blocking for somebody that's making plays.
It's like, why am I blocking?
He's not going to make a play.
And it's sad, but that's how a lot of linemen probably think.
So you think essentially if there's no quarterback that you believe in or trust,
then you're basically just going to kind of mail it in a little bit
Yeah, you're not gonna take pause the head for somebody
You know is not making a play like even when you're running when people are running together and one guy got the ball and
Running for the touchdown if you know he could run you gonna run you gonna run with him in block form
But if you know, he's not gonna go anywhere why? Why you gonna risk throwing your shoulder out?
Yeah.
That's what you get paid to do.
That's actually what you're here to do,
is to block whether I make a play or not.
Your check is not dependent on my check.
I'm not saying you wrong, but I'm just saying,
if you're asking the coach or the GM,
yo, the nigga not playing, I'm not paying you to run it,
but I'm not saying your concept is wrong,
but I'm just telling you, you're getting paid,
he's getting paid for something,
you getting paid for something.
So, okay, so say, and I wanted to get you guys
this perspective on this because I know you guys
are big fans of Cam Ward, I know you guys are both fans of Chedur.
And if the Giants say were to take a quarterback at three, which it feels like they might,
who, and maybe just any team that's drafting a quarterback for the future, who would you
take Mace out of the two to start a rebuild with?
Cam Ward or Chadur Sanders?
I would have to say Shadur. Because even in the lead, what last name did better? The Ward's or the Sanders? I'm just keeping it real, you know? The pedigree of Sanders is really the pedigree.
The only Ward I remember was on Hines Ward with the Steelers.
Was there any other wards?
Charlie Ward.
Charlie Ward played with the Nats.
He was a basketball player.
He actually plays, a houseman,
wouldn't be honest with you,
but then I fell in pickin' one.
Charlie Ward wasn't a houseman.
Yeah, that's what I'm sayin'.
The Wards did better in college.
And the Sanders, there's a lot of Sanders.
Who's the Sanders beside Dianne?
I don't know about that.
Barry Sanders.
Barry Sanders, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean.
When I was saying this.
No, I don't know, I'm just asking.
I forgot about Barry, too, you said, son.
That's good enough.
Yeah, that was good enough.
That was good enough, all right.
Yeah, Barry Sanders, Dianne Sanders, is everybody that came out with the Sanders
win Hall of Fame.
I'm out of that. I forgot about Deon. That's why I was asking.
Yeah.
Well, actually, I called me yesterday. He didn't pick the phone up, but he could have
actually came and seen because I went to Shadour and KM Ward's workout at UNLV
yesterday. And I'll tell you right now, there's no wrong answer for either one.
I sat there for, we sat there about two hours,
watched them kids throw, watched them scramble.
It was a good work.
Thanks Shadour for the invite.
I appreciate it.
Coach Prom, Bucky, thank you for the invite.
Thank you for the invite, Cam.
Yeah, you know, I tried to get Mason to understand.
I should, you know what?
I answered the phone.
You know what, that's. I answered the phone.
You know what, that's crazy.
It was last minute, he called me like,
at like one afternoon, like workout at two
and I was running around.
Actually, I haven't even been back home
until I was running around, but B definitely,
you know what B was thinking about you?
B said, yo, Tristan would have liked this, but anyway,
more of the story is.
Who's taller out of them both?
About the same height.
Maybe, maybe should do about half an inch, pause.
Maybe an inch the most, but they the same height.
But man, both them kids are sensational.
I know it's no defense and nothing else.
It was a light workout.
They're getting ready for the calm bomb.
But man, it's no wrong answer.
But if I have to pick, I'm going with Shadoor as well.
Just because of the height.
Just, you know, kind of cool, calm, collective, even though we see that in the football games
and everything else.
But I'm going with Shadr to answer the question, but you can't go wrong with either one of
them.
Do you think that it matters in terms of the team that is drafting?
Like a team like New York, for example, where the media attention is insane.
The scrutiny is insane.
And I feel like Shadr has such a great presence.
Obviously, he's been groomed, paused for this
for a long time to take that level of scrutiny
and be under those big lights.
Does that matter at all to you?
Absolutely, that matters when you're in New York.
And I think Shadr is ready for that,
but I think Ken Ward is ready for that too.
You know what's so dope about what I watched yesterday
is that these two are really friends.
Like they friends like me and Mary.
These niggas talk shit to each other the whole time.
They have a blog too.
You could probably go see their blog.
I don't know if it's Shadour's blog or Ken Ward's blog,
but the whole time these two were talking shit
to each other, big time shit,
but you could tell they was friends,
but it was like real shit.
They was like, nigga bet 10,000, let's go this way.
And he said, man, son, son, son, Ken Ward said,
man, fuck out here, bet 20.
Talking about some money, he said,
I thought, Chador said, I spent 60 in the last two days,
money ain't never been none to me.
So stop acting crazy, I said.
He said, yeah, cause you gotta bring swag or bring football.
That's what KM Toast should do.
I don't need all that.
I bring football to the table.
Jadour said, I bring all of it.
All the stories.
So after hearing both of them,
yo they was doing this for hours,
some change going back and forth.
But you know, scrambling, throwing accurate passes, et cetera.
So when I'm listening to this,
I said both them niggas pretty tough.
They both pretty tough.
But I think Jadour is groomed for it.
After seeing, you know, I've seen Cam play on TV.
I never met him until yesterday,
but just seeing his attitude yesterday,
I think he'll be prepared for it as well.
But you're right, Tris,
it doesn't matter what team they go into.
We know everybody in the top four or five, six picks are not going to good teams.
Uh, and then us as fans, not us per se on this, um, panel right here,
fears want the world tomorrow.
So if they don't do good, they're going to get scrutinized anyway.
It is what it is, but.
To answer the question, I think they're both prepared.
Lewis Riddick was, uh, sort of st of stumping for Cam Ward yesterday on ESPN.
Lewis Riddick, big friends with Deion.
There's some, some rumors that the reason that Lewis Riddick is stumping or, or
sort of promoting Cam Ward over Shadoura in terms of taking him is the sort of
the rumors is maybe Deion doesn't want Shadoura to go to one of the top three
teams and he would prefer him to fall. What do you think about that concept Mace? Do you think that there's a right spot want Shadour to go to one of the top three teams and he would prefer him to fall.
What do you think about that concept, Mase?
Do you think that there's a right spot for Shadour?
Definitely.
I think when it comes down to great talent, a lot of your career depends on what team you go to and what's the mindset of that organization.
mindset of that organization because sometimes you could be a landmark talent and end up with people that don't really get winning are not really groomed for winning and definitely don't want to do the things necessary to win.
I think Chador definitely has a different career if he lands in Vegas than if he lands in New York. I think in New York, he'll he'll do just fine.
But I think in Vegas, he'll do even better.
I think the quarterback that lands in Vegas is going to do better than
the quarterback that lands in New York.
Because it's Tom Brady?
Because it's Tom Brady?
Yes, that's part of it.
So what do you think, Cam?
Like, do you think there's a right place for Chauder to go?
New York or Vegas would be my picks because we could drive our cars in the tunnels and
get on the film.
If you ask me where I prefer, no those are two cities I would love for him to go to.
But you got to realize we got the Titans in there.
What pick is the Browns?
Like the Browns have a pick.
One thing that the Browns, what I heard was trying to do,
which I got confirmation from a couple days ago.
I think they're second.
Yes, I think so too.
Yeah.
Second.
Yeah, so what they, what somebody was trying to do,
it was trying to trade for Miles Garrett,
but the Browns made it clear that they're not
trading for Miles Garrett.
So right now, we sit here in St. New York,
we sit here in St. Vegas, when you have Tennessee
and Cleveland before both of them now,
do they need quarterbacks?
Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
So we all think in these major cities for Cam and Shador
when it may not be what we think it'll be.
So we'll find out.
I really, really, really wanna hear you guys' perspective on this topic because my Dallas Cowboys are in the news again and they're fucking up.
I just, they just continue to talk and make themselves look worse.
Um, multiple Dallas players came out and said that they are very
close to being the Eagles.
Dak Prescott said very close.
Micah Parson said that the game against the Eagles,
only five plays separated the game, really. But my Dallas Cowboys lost 41 to 7 in that game.
So that was crazy.
And then today, Emanuel Ocho came out and said
that the Cowboys are just one Eagles off season away from becoming
a Super Bowl contender.
Mase, is this the most delusional franchise in all of the NFL?
Yeah, you took the words right out of my brain, Pharrell.
The Cowboys have to be the most delusional.
And it's not just one year, it's every single year, time after time.
It's not like they get a player and then they get delusional.
They're delusional whether they have the right, you know, we call it unqualified confidence.
It's like an ugly girl that thinks she can bag this guy and it's like, why do you think
that?
He's not going to like you.
This is how the Cowboys- Personality? Why do you think that is he's not gonna like you this is personality cowboys? Yeah, her personality is so fire
That he's gonna look past everything wrong. That's how the Cowboys come across
It just makes no sense
It seemed like year after year and the worst they get the more delusional they get I like the way Mike
Michael-ervin jumped off that train. Are you ready to jump off that train?
I mean, I've been off. I I just don't have any
Can't leave the fan base. You can't just go it's that's worse than suffering
That's like what a real fan is you suffer in and out
I don't think this team will ever do anything until Jerry Jones dies or sells the team
Sorry, it's morbid. but that's what it is.
The delusion starts from Jerry and trickles all the way down to fans.
I'm a cynical bitch, so I'm never gonna believe the BS that's coming out of their
mouth, especially when their actions don't match up with what they say.
Especially they said, we're going all in off season.
And they didn't want to pay Derrick Henry
and they picked up Ezekiel Elliott off the street
when we knew he was washed.
You're the second correspondent on this show
to say Jerry Jones got to die before it does well.
I don't wish that on you, Jerry.
I don't wish it.
Yeah, I dig it.
Don't sugarcoat it for me.
You say what you say, stand on it it for me. You said what you said. Stand on it.
I ain't mad at what you said.
I'm just not throwing deaf one next to hope
that the franchise was,
but you're not the first Arabian set to,
she actually set it to Michael Irvin.
That was even crazy.
Yeah, it's, you know, it's ridiculous.
Yeah, the Memphis State of the Cowboys is crazy.
It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. And I the mental state of the Cowboys is ridiculous.
It's ridiculous.
And I'm not going to sit here and go and jump up and cry and say,
what the fuck is wrong with them?
And they're crazy.
And they're standing there because the problem is this.
And it isn't just the Cowboys.
It isn't just Juvie Jones.
It isn't just the players.
The fans believe it.
See you, Michael, You're like you're more
Realistic, but the fans be like, yeah. Yeah, we are right there. Yeah, we are right. Yeah, we five points
Yeah, they have five plays, but it was 41 to 7
That's the crazy
And the Cowboys I get what you're saying the problem with the Cowboys is this and part of their delusion comes from being in the same
Division and when you're in the same division you see this team twice a year you like oh, we know these niggas
We got them but the problem is is 15 of the games
Outside of those two games that you play against the Eagles
So you're more familiar with the Eagles because you play against them and you may think,
oh, we know these things, we could beat them.
But we have to think about this.
Philly won the Super Bowl probably seven years ago,
maybe eight, been to the Super Bowl the year before last,
if not the year before that, and just won the Super Bowl.
So it isn't like Philly hasn't been to the Super Bowl
three times in the last 10 years.
You guys have not won since 1994, yo.
I don't, some of y'all wasn't born.
You know they did, you know they did a fucking shit
the other day.
Jalen Brown wasn't born the last time the Cowboys won.
Jalen Hurts wasn't born.
CJ Strout.
Yeah, it's niggas who wasn't even born and I know
and the problem is this y'all be like well we the new Regine. The old Regine was better, all right?
They was way they was way better and I'm glad you said that because
people think I'm joking when I say this man. Get cocaine back in the locker room and they made, that's when y'all win.
Cocaine Cowboys. Yeah, yo.
They was smoking.
Literally.
Yo, listen man, and I'm not promoting drugs or any sport,
but that's what got them titles.
That, the White House, the prostitution.
Y'all niggas is clean cutting there. Y'all those cowboys, they supposed to be wilding, nigga.
Y'all niggas ain't wilding like that.
Jerry Jones supported niggas wilding.
You know, Jerry Jones ain't giving none of them niggas
out of all the shit they was doing?
Welfare niggas was smoking crack, prostitution.
Heron bones, down with heron bones.
Yeah, yeah.
Jerry Jones said, as long as we win,
follow him around.
Jerry Jones got private security to follow these niggas around.
Jerry Jones about winning.
He don't give a fuck what you do in,
on your off time, if you're winning.
When you start doing shit in your off time
and you're not winning,
that's when you get the speculation comes in.
I don't even know who the fucking head coach is.
We asked Michael Irvin, who's the new head coach you got?
Man, fuck him.
Michael ain't say that, but he might as well.
He said it in a nice way.
I said, Mike, what you think about the head coach?
Fuck that nigga.
That's what I heard.
That's what I heard.
That's kind of like what all the fans, I think,
felt in their soul, all of them.
And so, I end saying this,
I get how you feel Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Cowboy fans,
but you feel like this because you're playing against somebody in your division
and you're familiar with the team and in your brain, some type of way,
you always five plays away from beating them niggas when you lost by 34 points.
Which is crazy.
No, no, whatever.
But God bless your heart, man.
That's all I can say.
God, you know, I think a muffins sake, I bless him, man. That's all I can say. God, you know how nigga Muffin say, God bless him.
Yeah, 30 years and five plays away.
Yeah, exactly.
30 years.
Yeah, and you mentioned Jerry Jones
and how he's all about winning,
but it feels like the decisions that he's making
doesn't help them win.
The personnel decisions, who they pay.
So yesterday, the NFL released its 2025 salary cap.
The new cap is about $20 million more than this year,
this last year, which is actually pretty amazing.
But I was looking at this list,
the top five cap hit players in the NFL.
Dac, right?
Dac Prescott, $90 million for a cap hit.
That's by far the most in the NFL.
$17 million more than Deshaun Watson.
Mase, can a team win with any player making a third of the cap space?
Yeah.
Teams can't, they are a team.
There are a few select, a very select few, probably
like two or three, one or two that could win that way.
But Dallas is not the team to be given 90 million to Dak Prescott.
They got so many other things they got to answer, you know, they got, they, they, did
they just pay CDLAM?
Yes.
They got to make sure CD lamb get paid.
Okay.
So CD lamb is paid.
They got other things that got an answer on their defense.
They got a few things they got to add to their offensive line.
And I don't think you get that done with giving Dak Prescott 90 million.
And I really don't understand why, why pay a person so much money that doesn't bring you to the dance.
That's just how I feel.
You know, I'm a member and a president of Titletown.
So as a title town president, I do not pay people high money that don't bring us to the champ, the championship, even if it's just the, you know, the, the NFC,
if you can't get us to the NFC, why are we giving you 90 million?
Yeah, it's crazy.
Derek Carr is at 51 million, Matt Stafford, 49 million.
Uh, Deshaun Watson, like I said, 73 million, but Patrick Mahomes is
going to have to redo his deal probably because he's at 66 million of a cap at.
Um,
we wouldn't pay, you wouldn't Dak not 30 more million than Pat. It's crazy even with the bad NFL
I mean Super Bowl performance. It is no way Dak deserve 30 more million than then
Patrick just a bad contract all around. What do you think Kim?
This is Jerry Jones.
He pays in his place.
Yeah.
But at the same time, you know, it gets to this point where we sit there and say,
I remember this whole shit playing out.
Nigga not going to pay that.
Got to pay that.
You're not paying that.
She was lingering then the contract.
He's last year, the contract was up. Oh, you're not going to pay that. He had to pay that. You're not going that. She was lingering. Then the contract, his last year, the contract was up.
Oh, you're not going to pay that?
You got to pay that.
You're not going to pay that?
Then when he pays that and that game performing and then next year, a $90 million hit on the
salary cap comes in.
And he's like, that game worth it.
Y'all was all over him in Dallas to pay the nigga.
You're harassing the nigga to pay the nigga.
I remember it like last night.
Yo, yo, you're not going to pay that. Whatever quarterback can you get? You got to pay the nigga. I remember it like last night. Yo, you gotta go pay DAC, whatever quarterback can you get.
You gotta pay the nigga.
And the salary's going up, and you gotta pay DAC,
and pay DAC, and pay DAC.
Few years ago, you gotta pay Ezekiel Elliott.
You gotta pay Ezekiel Elliott.
You gotta pay Ezekiel Elliott.
You pay, I think they gonna pay Ezekiel Elliott.
He jump in Salvation Army, shit for Salvation.
Yo, he pays, the fans and the analysts
and everybody else go crazy, saying that he has to pay
these people, he waits till the very, very last minute.
They be like, fuck it, we got to time it nigga.
We don't have other choices, not anybody else available.
Salary caps going up, et cetera, et cetera.
Now niggas is like, Jerry gotta stop paying niggas.
Now niggas is like, Jerry, you gotta stop paying niggas.
I think he got the bonus pause because even Snoop Dogg says Snoop,
you know, fellow member of the show, he said, you got to pay that.
I think that put a few millions on it.
That's what I'm saying. And Snoop knows it's football.
I'm just saying niggasas gotta pay the Derby.
Do you all remember?
Dak was going into that year when his contract was up
and he was like, Derby's gonna be stuck
because if he doesn't pay Dak, what's he gonna do?
Who does he have?
And they start going down and niggas on the roster,
you know, Leonard, Fisk, Albert,
niggas you don't even know who the fuck he is
and all type of shit.
So I get it, I know that this is a lot of money.
I know that it's a hard hit on the salary cap.
But y'all act for this.
As the fans, as the analysts, not the show,
other shows, oh what you gonna do, you gonna pay him.
Then when he pays him, it's wow.
Care one for losing, bro.
Well and I think as fans, it's wild. Care went for losing, bro. Well, and I think as fans, it's like okay
to buy $150 steak or go and get a nice meal,
but when the value that you get back is like,
all right, I paid for one of the top steak houses
in the country and I'm getting, I don't know.
A burger.
A burger or Sizzler or whatever, no shade to Sizzler.
But I paid top dollar for that, then you're pissed.
So I think maybe the expectations for Dak
was that he would be that type of caliber of quarterback
that deserves exactly what top 10 quarterbacks get.
But he's not a top 10 quarterback in the league.
He's been injured multiple times in a row,
his completion percentage isn't great,
and he is crippling the team.
So it's just.
Well look, let me ask you a question.
That was a great take.
What was Jerry supposed to do if he didn't pay DAC last year?
What was he supposed to do?
I'm just asking, what was his options out there?
You could have gone with Cooper Rush.
You could have gone with a bridge quarterback
like Tyrod Taylor.
I'm not talking Cooper Rush over DAC. Didn't they trade? Come on now, Cooper Rush, you could have gone with a bridge quarterback like Tyrod Taylor. I'm not dacking Cooper Rush over Dak now.
Didn't they trade?
Come on now, dack Cooper Rush over Dak now?
No, no, no, but it's a monetary thing.
So it's like, alright, just like the Jets.
The Jets don't want to go out and get anybody expensive,
so they get Justin Fields for a year for $15 million.
Until Arch Manning comes around, they can draft him,
because they know they're not going to be very good this year.
They're going to be buns. But see, that's the thing too,
not to cut you off Trish,
and not to cut you off Eva Mase,
we're throwing off Water Cutter maybe,
because now you sit there and get Justin Fields for a year,
and then Archie Manning does great in Texas,
and then Justin Fields doesn't do as bad
as you think he does,
and now the Jets are at the number six pick
or number seven pick, and they don't get a Archie Manning.
But that was your whole plan.
And you can't look obviously obvious and tank.
These are all big risks you're talking about.
And I get it, I understand what you're saying.
Look, we was in the middle towards the end
of football season, maybe week 10, week 11.
And we like, yo, Cam is gonna go to,
Cam and Shadoor is either gonna go to the Giants
or to Vegas,
because they had the number one and the number two pick.
Niggas want to start winning.
Antonio Pearson, I'm like,
y'all fuck that, we ain't tanking.
Now look, the whole shit switched around.
Titans and Browns, number two.
And no disrespect to Ohio, you know I love you,
and no disrespect to Tennessee.
But them two young niggas, those two cities are sexier,
when you're talking about New York and Vegas,
just because of their names.
Like I said, no shade, I lived in Ohio.
I have no problem with it, but I'm just telling you
for our sexiness to a young nigga who getting money.
So I get what you're saying, Trish, too,
but you're saying a monetary fix,
and then if it don't go right, you stuck with Justin.
And I like Justin Fields.
I don't know what the problem is. I fuck with the nigga. But it didn't go according, you stuck with Justin. And I like Justin Fields, I don't know what the problem is,
I fuck with the nigga, but it didn't go according to plan,
my opinion, sorry.
No, you're right, and you just don't know
when you pay somebody that much money,
you have to be really sure.
And as a fan, I think there's been us telling ourselves
that Dak was better than he was,
because he didn't have the pieces,
or he only had Brandon Cooks, or it's just just CD Lamb or he doesn't have a great running back anymore
blah blah blah blah blah so you pay him that money and then you realize like oh
yeah this is this is really crippling our team. Alright we got to hit this break
when we return. NBA season the All-Star break is over who are we keeping our eye
on the most in the home stretch of the season?
Welcome back! It's time to go over our underdog picks of the day.
First game was yesterday in the NBA after All-Star break.
Lakers, oh my goodness gracious, what a horrible loss.
Trash ass Hornets can't even get the win.
Austin Reeves, first ejection of his goddamn life.
Lakers blow a 15 point lead, lose 197.
Luca had 14 points, he was awful.
Braun, you guys had the higher level on his props.
He had 26 points, the number was 26 and a half.
Disgusting stuff.
As someone who hates the Lakers, love to see it.
Love to see it.
You hate the Lakers?
Hate the Lakers.
Oh man.
And this shit was 26 and a half. He came in under.
Let's talk about the games tonight. Kevin Durant had a busy All-Star weekend.
Lots of interviews. He plays the Spurs tonight. He had 37 and 34 headed
into the break. Underdog has his points at 26 and a half. Would you go higher or
lower, Mase? Going higher, definitely. He definitely going to show up for this
game. Yeah, he's got a lot of motivation, a lot of things in the news.
What do you think, KD? I was just about to say that the motivation niggas playing with his name
right now. Yeah, niggas talking about they gonna trade you and all that.
Yeah, they playing with KD's name right now.
And actually, like I said, I spoke to KD, we was actually at the Colorado game together
before the season started.
He said he was gonna go off, I think the injury early in the season hindered what he was planning
to do this season, because he said he was gonna go the fuck off this season.
But I think niggas playing with this nigga name during the last, right before the trade deadline
during All-Star weekend,
he gonna come back with a vengeance and we're gonna hire.
Yeah, I think he's gonna go crazy the rest of the season.
Cam, you also called the De'Aaron Fox trade.
Good on you.
The move from Sacramento has not been great for him
in terms of his production.
Underdog hits his number at 26 and a half against the Suns tonight.
He hasn't hit that in 12 of the last 14 games.
Are you going higher or lower on him?
Pause.
Pause.
I don't know.
That's a great one.
Cause I think, you know what I think?
I think, and I don't mean this in a bad way,
I just think this in a good way.
I think that D'Aaron Foxx is a sensational talent.
I think he went there, actually, in Rich Paul and Clutch,
seeing that it could be him and Wimby for some years.
If they get one more piece, it could be really exciting
in the next two to three years.
But the reason I'm gonna go lower is because,
and Mase, tell me what you think about this.
Yeah, that's a good pick.
No, no, I know, but I'm saying,
tell me what you think about it.
Is that Chris Paul be in the way for shit, a lot of shit.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, yo Chris, cause Chris Paul,
for the last, Chris Paul's a, he should be first ballot Hall of Famer.
He's average in eight, eight assists.
Yeah, I mean, I think Chris Paul is great,
but I don't need a nigga coming to me,
pause every time I was to be like,
come here, come here, if you go there, then.
And then do that.
Yeah, and that's where you go.
You keep doing that from team to team to team.
That's why James Hart slapped this here.
You ever seen when James Hart slapped?
Fuck out of here with all that, man.
I ain't doing all that.
Chris, if you want to coach,
I think you'll be an exceptional coach.
And we understand that the point guard,
the floor general, an extension, pulls off the coach.
But niggas don't wanna keep talking to you
in the middle of the game every time the whistle blow, bro.
And this is why teams may get hindered.
I knew Golden State wouldn't work.
I knew that they didn't respect them.
They didn't respect them.
I knew OKC wouldn't work.
He played decent over there.
They didn't, like bro,
you're not gonna get it done over there.
Houston didn't work.
I think it's time for you to think about coaching.
I think that you had a great career,
but you're hendering the young niggas.
De'Aaron Fox needs to be let off the leash
and do what he needs to do,
and him and Wimby take that team over.
I think you'll be a great coach on the Spurs.
I'm not saying that that's where he'll go,
but not on the floor.
You're taking up space at this point.
Cause if you change, if you swap.
Lower, my fault, I just, yeah lower.
Yeah, definitely.
Because of Chris Paul.
Yeah, and definitely lower because
when you think of that San Antonio team,
they even got the guy Sharp that's there.
What's the other two guard name that was in the dunk contest? Oh, Stephon Castle.
I meant Castle. I would say Sharp. Castle's there. And if you take Paul out of the lineup,
then you would have, you have Castle and Fox, which take that team to a whole new athletic
level. And I think that's where they need to be to win. But as long as it is the way it is right now, he won't get that number because even Castle
is playing very well right now.
So all of them at the same time, you don't need to get those points for them to win.
Facts and also Devin Vassell as well, another great scorer.
Yeah, they need them to be at like 16, 18 to win.
Well NBA started back up last night.
All-Star break is officially over.
We have 35 games left in the season.
This is where teams really make a playoff push.
They show what they are.
Are they contenders?
Mace, as you're looking at the NBA landscape, what team were
you keeping your eye on the most to see really where they're at?
There's two teams in it and they're both in the South
Southwest that I'm looking at.
Matter of fact, all four of these teams, Memphis, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio,
because these are the teams that could mess up the West as as we know it.
You know, I know a lot of people, the first thing come to their mind
is what Denver is doing or what OKC is doing.
But these last four teams that I named
are the teams that could do something about that.
Definitely Memphis, I think Memphis is one of those teams
that nobody wants to see with the with the reassurgence of.
I meant the surgeons of Edie.
He takes that team to a different place is the piece that they've been missing.
If they ever get a three, they're there.
They're a championship team.
If they get a three, they're a championship team,
because right now they have everything else.
So that's the team I'm looking at the most.
I'm not at the most.
I'm not really concerned about Dallas
because without AD, I don't think they go anywhere.
And I would love to see that team with AD,
but if AD doesn't show up, I don't see them going anywhere.
But Houston is my second team.
The second team that I'm looking at
to make a difference in the West.
I don't think that the Houston team is going to allow the West to be as is.
Every now and again, you get a team that's disruptive.
Yeah, I know that's who y'all want to win, but we're not letting them win.
I think Houston has that kind of ability.
So I would say Houston and Memphis. What do you think, Cam? What team are you paying attention the most to now after the All-Star break?
It's a plethora of teams. I think that the fifth seed, pardon me, not the fifth seed, the sixth seed
through the 11th seed in the West
that we have to pay attention to that.
It's about a, Between the sixth seed and the 11th seed,
it's probably a four or five game difference
between all that.
Right now, if the playoffs start today,
you have OKC at number one,
which I think they're gonna finish at number one.
They have an eight game lead over the Grizzlies right now,
eight and a half over Denver.
I think they're gonna to finish number one.
But I'm not sure if they beat Dallas because Dallas is an AFC right now. I'm not sure if they beat Dallas in the playoffs with a healthy AD,
with a healthy Kyrie, with a healthy PJ Washington, Lively.
I'm not sure.
And that's why I said OKC Real Test will be the playoffs this year.
I'm not sure if Phoenix gets on a little run,
they beat Phoenix.
They should, but I'm more,
would be more concerned about Dallas,
but you're sitting here looking at these last,
and the reason I said a plethora of teams,
hold on, let me read it to you real quick.
It's the Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks,
not necessarily worried about Sacramento Cakes,
Golden State Warriors.
Dre Mon just said they definitely won the championship
this year.
These teams all could pose a threat to OKC
when the playoffs happen.
Now OKC to me, don't get me wrong,
they look like they have a different confidence this year.
It looks like everybody's on the same page,
it looks like they ready to go.
But I wanna see who they play in the first round
because that could determine if they go to the second
semi-finals of each Western Conference Finals.
So it isn't one team, I'm looking at that six through 11
spots to see who makes the playoffs and the play-in in the Western Conference.
Yeah, I think that's a fascinating point that you make
because the seeding is gonna matter a lot.
The team I think that has just really not been talked
about a lot in terms of being a real contender is Denver.
I don't know why people have felt like they are just
a team to be forgotten about, but
probably because they started the season so slow.
Aaron Gordon was injured.
They were trying to figure out their rotations.
They've lost so many guys to either free agencies or trade, right?
KCP is gone.
Jeff Green, the guys that they won a championship, three of those guys are gone.
But they're 25 and nine since figuring out their rotation.
Jokic is having the best year of his entire career.
He's averaging a triple double.
Jamal Murray just put up a 50 piece right before the All-Star break.
A 55?
Yeah.
Yeah, that's not the team they want to see.
That is not the type of team that you want to really mess around with.
And if you're the Lakers, you already know what it is.
Like you can't stop. You just got rid of Anthony Davis. You're not getting rid of,
you're not going to be able to do anything with Jokic now.
And there's multiple teams. I think Chet will get bodied by a player like Jokic.
I don't think there's that many, if Jamal Murray is doing what he's doing right now,
and that's the key thing to watch, that's what I'm watching for is if he's healthy and he's putting up buckets and
also Christian Brown is really contributing as well.
He has, he's averaging 28 and four in his last games.
That's ridiculous.
Russell Westbrook has been playing his role.
If they have it together, they're healthy.
And Jamal Murray is the key piece of all this.
And that's what I'm watching for.
They're going to the finals.
Yeah, they right now, if the playoffs started right now, they will be playing the Clippers.
Dimple will be playing the Clippers and the Lakers will be playing Houston,
which is interesting.
Even if you look at John Moran, the Memphis will be playing
Memphis will be playing Minnesota.
That would be a great, phenomenal series right there.
But on the East coast, the team I forgot to say I'm looking out for is the Knicks.
Shout out to Sin City.
We got our eyes on the Knicks to see what is this going to be a year that they,
you know, go back to that place where they find themselves in the Eastern Conference finals
I'm definitely not talking about a championship sin. I can't go that far. I'm helping you as much as I can
Well and Mitchell Robinson is now back to on-court activities
We haven't seen him all year like that could be a real key piece to watch for as well
Yeah, if I'm talking about a team on the East
for as well. Yeah, if I'm thinking about a team on the East,
I'm thinking about Detroit.
K. Cuddeham got them his ball in the fifth seed right now,
I believe, fifth or sixth.
But for Detroit to be in the sixth or fifth seed
after all-star break is fucking amazing.
You know what I'm saying?
Considering that they was giving away cheeseburgers
and cheese doodles last year for the come to the game.
So for them at the All-Star break,
to be not even in the playing, in the actual playoffs,
if the playoffs start today, it'd be,
it's fucking amazing.
Kay Cunningham, shout out to you,
because we were sitting there saying,
Detroit keep firing niggas.
And these guys, my nigga Monty,
they fired the coach before that.
And they got a great turnaround so far.
So I want to give Detroit Pistons a shout out.
And Trish, to your point, when it comes to Denver,
I don't think that people forgot about Denver.
I just think that people take Denver for granted,
kind of like the Boston Celtics.
It's like, nobody's talking about the Boston Celtics.
You see Cleveland is number one in the East.
Boston is in second place.
But we all figure, if we had to guess today,
I would say Boston's going to the championship.
I think that's kind of what Denver is.
We take it for granted.
Like, when the playoffs start,
we know what Jamal Murray does,
we know what the Joker does.
Now, Russell Westbrook, he's been looking the best.
He's looked in a couple seasons
with the last few teams he's been on.
And like you said, the key components
that left Bruce Brown, Caldwell, Pope,
those were really key pieces in that championship.
But I think that Denver is sneaky
and you're absolutely right.
They're not talking about them.
And they're like, good,
because you've been talking about, leave us alone.
Go with the new hotness. Send voice.
Go with Houston.
Go with OKC.
But like you said, Trish, when it's all said and done,
I really believe that Denver will be there as well.
I was pretty shocked that they didn't go last year.
Yeah, and I think Jamal Murray was just really
not himself, right?
Like he just, they looked exhausted.
They were having to get really back into games
the whole regular season.
They were struggling to stay out of the play-in.
And so I just felt like they ran out of gas
and now they've sort of figured some things out
with the role players starting to figure things out
in terms of the rotations as well.
This topic though, I really was excited
about hearing your perspective on.
We're moving away from the NBA and into college basketball.
So legendary coach, Rick Pitino, St. John's head coach,
and Mace made sure to tell me, to tell y'all,
St. John's used to be a powerhouse,
even if they're a smaller school right now.
Rick Pitino had a press conference,
and he said, point blank period,
we're filling all of our holes, pause, with transfer guys.
We're not recruiting high school players anymore.
And so Mase, what do you think about those comments and what do you think
about what that means for college basketball recruiting in the landscape as a whole?
Oh man, thinking about this is kind of like a nightmare for a university like St.
John's because it comes from some such prominence.
And to think that you're going to stray away from the whole aspect
of recruiting high school kids for one, I think is it's an idea is innovative
because he's trying to get ahead of the curve
cause of not being able to get those high school players.
How would I win if I couldn't get those high school players?
He came up with a formula.
I'll just go get old niggas, you know, get you get 20 year olds,
22 year old people playing against 18 year olds and 17 years old and 19 years
old. Some of those old players, they may not make it to the league, but they'll play better
in the college system. And that's what he's banking on. But I wouldn't have told I wouldn't
have showed my hand if that's the direction I was going into. I definitely wouldn't have
let everybody else know because now there's other teams that'll do the same.
If we've been struggling to recruit kids, we can't really come up with the NIL
money for them to get them to come fresh out of high school.
I'll just go and get this guy from Juco.
That's been averaging 30 points that didn't have a SAT or wasn't able to get
the ACT,
and I'll bring them in and cause my program to do very well.
I think it's actually a genius idea.
I was just about to say it's genius.
Smart as shit, because, you know,
according to whatever these days that,
if you stay more than a year or two
then you ain't shit.
Because if you good, you supposed to be one and done.
That's a, yo, he still there, he must not be shit.
All the good niggas stay one year supposedly
or after two years they should be gone.
But you got niggas who still good,
that's juniors and seniors,
and they didn't have a chance to necessarily
be in the right system, under the right coach,
they didn't have enough points, they wasn't NBA great,
whatever, whatever.
But Mase, I couldn't have said it better,
I don't really have much to add.
Mase said it completely like Howard said,
it's smart, you're beating the curve,
fuck you and your parents talking about
what y'all demand, these high school niggas.
I don't give a fuck about what your mother need.
I'm gonna go get me some niggas that's hungry.
And then they'll probably be more successful
because they got kids who's already been playing
for the last two, three years
and can't wait to prove their point
against these top quote unquote recruits.
Think it's very smart.
Let's put you guys into the high school, like modern day high schoolers perspective.
If you were ballin' now and you're a 17 year old and you know that multiple schools just
aren't even recruiting you, what do you do?
Do you go to a smaller school?
Do you go play overseas?
Like Mace, what's your mindset at now
if that's kind of where we're at in this landscape?
If I'm 17, I'm definitely trying to find a prep school
and add an extra year if you're 17.
Cause one of those things that I don't think kids
really recognize is that that one year
makes a whole difference.
Like the player you are at 17 is totally different than when you're 18, you know, and it's light
years different, just like 18 and 19.
As you start getting older, those years make all of the difference.
Sometimes a person is not that good and you're like, if he had one more year, and that's the year
you would get through prep school.
So like, if that was me, I would take the prep school approach.
That's me.
I'm trying to get my highlight tape and DM in every coast in the country because what
you said Trish is that niggas don't want you.
And if niggas, you can't force yourself home nowhere, prep school, college, junior college, niggas don't want you. And if you can't force yourself home nowhere,
prep school, college, junior college,
anywhere if they don't want you.
If you're saying nobody wants you, what do you do?
You start looking for the next plan.
Because what do you do?
I know you don't want me, but hear me out.
What can you do if nobody wants you?
And I think the smaller schools,
you see guys like Lamont Butler
who played for San Diego State and now he plays for Kentucky.
You see guys like Nigel Pack who ended up going to Miami on a big NIL deal.
I feel like what Rick Pitino is saying is the quiet part out loud which is, listen,
NIL has changed everything.
It makes a lot more sense for someone to go through the system in a really small school,
go to a mid-tier school,
and then you can actually be a three-star recruit now out of high school and play for Duke
when you're a senior, 23, 24 years old.
It's a fascinating thing, and it actually helps, I think, kids as well who aren't five-star
find their way to a blue chip school, too. What do you think?
But you also have kids, to Cam's point, where he's talking about how people don't want you.
You also have people that went to the big blue schools
and the blue chip schools,
and now they're finding themselves going to a lower school
just so they can play,
because they was expected to be one and done.
So if you're not one and done,
the next group comes in,
pause to be that type of player.
And those kids have to portal their way out
into another team.
So I've seen some kids go from Kentucky to other teams
and now they're balling.
But if they were to stay at Kentucky,
they will be saying they're getting messed over.
What was the recruiting process for you guys
when you were 18 years old?
Well, I played with Riverside Church at the time and Mr. Lloyd's got blessed to
dead pervert nigga that was we used to talk about.
He was helping me out because I didn't graduate and I was supposed to go to the
University of Miami and then I didn't take my SATs.
We was 23 and 0 my senior year and we lost in the first round.
So I didn't really even come back to school.
If I did, it wasn't for school.
And it was a street dude named Rodney to be honest, wasn't even Riverside Church.
He actually helped me get, damn Rodney Parker was his name, he died too, shout out to Rodney
Parker RIP. He actually helped me get in Navarro Junior College
because to be honest with you,
Miami is like stop picking the phone up.
It was a dub, thing is they see me in school.
You know, SATs, you gotta move on if you're not
committed to what you're supposed to do.
But Rodney Parker helped me get in junior college.
Why didn't you take the SATs?
You just weren't into it or like you just...
I thought I was better than I was.
I was like, I wanted them niggas to think
that they'll figure it out.
You thought you were like a different tier,
like I don't really need to take the test.
I thought I'd have to go back to school.
You know, they figured out for certain niggas.
I guess I wasn't one of them niggas
that they'll give my diploma for me,
YSATs, you know.
Some niggas, they'll do that for you.
I guess I wasn't as good as I thought I was.
What was the recruiting process for you?
For me, I stopped going to school after my senior year.
I mean, during my senior year, so I wasn't even looking forward to finishing school.
So there wasn't a lot of offers for a person that didn't want to go to school.
Because I was thinking after we lost, I was just like, man, I ain't no need to go into
school.
Because I wasn't going to school to go to school.
I was going to school actually to play basketball.
So if I couldn't play basketball, I was one of those people, I didn't going to school to go to school. I was going to school actually to play basketball. So if I couldn't play basketball,
I was one of those people,
I didn't think it was no need to go to school.
That's 100% correct.
Cause that was my thing.
All I needed was four classes and gym.
I actually filled off my,
when I first got the man to my school,
man said when I transferred there,
the first semester I wasn't even eligible. I didn't even play the first half. Cause I'm my school, man, so I transferred there. The first semester, I wasn't even eligible.
I didn't even play the first half.
Cause in the school before that, you know,
it was a high school too.
I was that good over there.
They figured it out.
That's what I'm trying to tell you.
I was like, they figured out.
Cam, you gonna go to class?
Come on now.
So I get there when I get there.
Grades was there, shit was cool.
I thought that attitude was gonna carry over.
Then when it didn't, I'm in there negotiating
with teachers, Mrs. Weber in Spanish.
Cam, you don't date the Tesla.
Come on, Mrs. Weber, I'm trying to bribe teachers
with no money, with a smile and,
oh, you're cute today, all that.
As long as I have four classes in gym,
Mason's absolutely right.
I went to school to play basketball.
So when the season was over,
it really didn't make sense to go back to school.
Yeah. And the teacher and the guidance counselor,
Miss Schombach, she helped me.
Miss Schombach. She helped me get out of,
get to college.
All right. That's all the time that we have for
It Is What It Is.
