Starting point is 00:00:00 Talk to it is what it is. I'm Treasure Wilson, aka Stap Baby, along with your host, Mace and Cam. And y'all, today we are joined with our analyst Maurice Claret. Yo, Kelo, what's good, man? Mo, what's going on? Happy Friday, baby. It's a great day. Happy.
Starting point is 00:00:40 It's been a great week. Yo, man, Mo, I've been sensing a lot of hostility between Arabia towards you, man, on our group texts on it on. when there's what it is group text, man. And I told her that you're at the point where you could go to HR at this point. I don't know why she's so upset with you and she gets an attitude when she sees you
Starting point is 00:01:02 and the replies. I'm just telling you I'm a witness if you want to take it further. If you want to take it to the next level. I'm a witness. I told you, just like in the group chat, it got more than do with the Wolverine's struggling.
Starting point is 00:01:18 You know, that's her team. And then the commanders ain't doing. too well. And so, you know, when things going well, Arabia like to be on the internet. You know, she's speaking very eloquent. She's a very good journalist and she does her job very well. So she ain't got no content. So all the hate coming
Starting point is 00:01:32 out another way. So I actually wore this outfit for Arabia. Okay, I like that. Arabia. Oh, you're going to see this shit, though. You see that? Ooh. You see what I'm coming from? There we go. Arabia, it is what it is, nigga. It sounds like, you're speaking very eloquently these days as
Starting point is 00:01:50 Well, you just basically says she's a sore loser and don't want to speak when none of her teams are doing and that's basically what's going on. Oh, you forgot the passive-aggressive aggressive thing she did. You see she left me out the video. Oh, yeah. I was in a night or though. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:02:07 I saw that, Mo. I saw that. I saw that the dancing and all that. Everybody like you'll win, Moe at. That was crazy. Crazy, yo. May I interject in her defense, though? How do y'all know?
Starting point is 00:02:20 Maris isn't instigating. Because I got a message from Maris. He said, you ain't been a Canes fan all season. So I'm like, if you're telling me this, I know you probably are telling her stuff too. But on the group chat, you're like, oh, what was me? What was me? Our quarterback. Uh-uh, uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Okay, guys. You're going to throw your brother to bus. I'm just saying. I'm just saying to me. You tell me one time you said anything about the Keynes this season. I don't have to. We've been good. And we're number one.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Hold on, no, hold on. What's understood? What's understood? What's, no, I'm just saying what's understood does not need to be explained. Like, I feel like that's been very clear. Y'all said, I thought of the state game. Y'all shouldn't be no damn number one. I mean, that was still a good game, but I don't care.
Starting point is 00:03:09 I don't care. A win is a win. A win is a win, Maurice. How about the asking a question? Statt, I'm about to ask you a question. Don't look at the computer. Give me five other players. names outside of Malacantone.
Starting point is 00:03:22 I'm not going to name all the players right now because I don't have to. I'm not going to name all the players right now. She pulled a maize move. She pulled a maize moot. I like that. I like that. I like that. You're learning from Title Town.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Why do you have to explain yourself and you're number one? I already said what's understood. Doesn't need to be explained. He's just mad and he's throwing little jabs to everybody here and there. Y'all aren't hearing it. I'm like, if you're doing that to me, I know you're doing it to Arabia. So I'm just saying. He can't be instigating if he's not in the video.
Starting point is 00:03:57 We all seen he's not in the video. But I wasn't in the video either. So I wasn't in the video either. I wasn't in the video either. That's why I'm like, I feel like y'all have been going back and forth, which is, it makes sense. But I'm just like, okay, Maurice. But I'm asking you why would, so why wouldn't you be offended and we've been down
Starting point is 00:04:13 with the set since the beginning? No, I'm, I'm, I'm, we've been down with this set. You know how many shows we got stuff? Yeah. You know how many hours. you put in it. So we can't let the person who came behind this act like they then put it in the word before us. That's all I'm saying. Yeah, no, I'm not offended, but it's just like we all know how we are about our teams too. So I'm just like maybe, maybe there's something else. But
Starting point is 00:04:32 I get it. I get it. She'll be all right. Not she'll be all right. But I mean, y'all still have your bets and stuff. So we'll see how everything plays out. But Maurice, glad to have you back on the show this morning. All let's get to it. So first up, y'all called it, but now it's confirmed. The Super Bowl halftime performer is Jay-Z, who indeed chose himself to headline the game happening February 14th on Valentine's Day at SoFi in L.A. Mace, what do you think of this? And how do you think the set is going to go? Oh, man. This is amazing. I mean, we knew this was going to happen, but I think when it comes to, is it official yet? Yeah, it's official. It's official. It's official? Yeah. So I don't,
Starting point is 00:05:19 Out of all of the people on the roster, they couldn't pick nobody else. The cap is at an all-time high. I mean, it's going to be fired, though. It's 15 minutes. 15 minutes. You got, who else could have done it, though? Who could have done it? Kanye, Drake, Chris Brown, people he don't like.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Oh, we are to you. You, ho. You need more people, that's what you told me. Before you don't like. We need more people, oh. But I dig it, man. It's his show.
Starting point is 00:06:00 He gets to pick himself. He sat with himself. He told himself, self, we need to do this show. Do you want to do this show and self-sett? I feel like I could do it. If you feel like you can do it, the show is yours.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Well, then I'll be doing it. Give me two weeks to think about it. And I'll see, I'll get back to you. You don't think you can give me an answer before two weeks? And he told itself, today I'm doing the show. But, you know, it ain't like Kanye could have done it. It ain't like Chris Brown could have done it. I mean, Drake couldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:06:41 He don't have enough records. I'm done. Really quick. before Cam goes, it's per TMZ. It's saying the frontrunners were Justin Bieber and Harry Styles. Yeah, right. Justin Bieber, Harry Styles. Yeah, I don't know why.
Starting point is 00:07:08 I mean, Hove is the most calculated guy we probably know in the world. But, you know, he wanted to do the show. He should do it. Shout out the hope. Shout out to the old Rock Nation. I wish y'all the best. Have a great show. We'll be watching.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Cam. How are they the frontrunners and he end up in the front? I'm just reading what it says. I don't know. Just reading what the report says. He was in the frontrunner. When did they pass? When did he pass them?
Starting point is 00:07:48 Oh, man. The front runners, and you're going to end up in the front runners. Look, I'm not surprised if nobody, boy, I mean, I eat this morning. I know I'm eating pizza for breakfast, but I ain't eat. Sorry about this. I've been turning my mic off, so you all ain't been hearing me chew or anything like that. Pause. But look, it's dead obvious, right?
Starting point is 00:08:14 And like I said in the previous thing, because I see some people talking about, y'all just hating. I told, niggas, I would, y'all up there, hate them. up there. Hey, a lot of people didn't say that. I would say about 20%. People who don't want to pay attention to what we were saying. And we both said that if we could get away with it,
Starting point is 00:08:31 we would do it too. Yeah, it's my show. I'm performing. Yeah, I don't understand. It's the big deal. But the part we were talking about a month ago when they were saying, they're struggling, finding people.
Starting point is 00:08:48 That's all we was talking about. That's all. Look, this is how it goes, right? It's been well-publicized for those who haven't been paying attention that he's been trying to get, he has all his masters outside of reasonable doubt. He gets his masters back after 30 years. This makes 30 years.
Starting point is 00:09:07 He does reasonable doubt at Yankee Stadium. Three nights in a row. Then he goes to Europe and does some shows over there, Paris, if I'm not mistaken. And he actually has a show the 23rd or 24th and in sci-fi.
Starting point is 00:09:26 So far. Yeah, so far. me. He actually, this is, he's on the lambs line. Like, if y'all not paying attention, this is like, yo, let me touch the waters. When he's seen Yankee Stadium, then when he's seen Europe,
Starting point is 00:09:40 then when they sold them tickets out of it, and so far and they sell, yeah, it's time. It's time. This was, all these was test runs on the lab line to see if it was time. But people probably don't pay attention to that.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I pay attention to it. So when people, I see them a bunch of blogs today, like Cam, Cam, Cam, Cam, call it. You were going to call it this too. If you were paying attention, this wasn't brain surgery. This wasn't Chinese checkers, man. You know, I was thinking about
Starting point is 00:10:08 coming in here with a genie hat on the day and saying, like, I know the future and all that. I said, man, listen, then you could have seen this from 10 miles away. Listen, them boys are very careful. like May said, nothing's by accident. And you gotta realize, it's a great opportunity for him. And I'm excited to see the show.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Our only thing was, our only thing we were saying was, don't act like we don't see you. We see what's going on. And if we could get away with it, we would do it too. Absolutely. So that's all we were saying for the people out there, the pessimists was like, oh, y'all hey, no, we're not, the all niggins be going off clickbait, y'all don't watch the whole episode,
Starting point is 00:10:48 or y'all don't watch the full clip. to see exactly the context behind why me and Mason might have been laughing. I don't even want to take credit for this. Yeah, this was so obvious. Yeah, this was mad obvious. This was obvious to me when it was the Roots picnic. Yeah, it was part of the warm. It was a part of the, you know, the setup.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Yeah. That was good too. Which makes it great on his team and they're planning. I know we joke a lot, but this is the truth. They planned it out. They did what you're supposed to. to do count your steps backwards, count your steps backwards so you can know that you're going to end up exactly where you plan on landing. And that was really good to do.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Maurice. I'm pretty much going to echo what they say. I don't know. I don't have anything different to say other than, you know, the biggest promotional stage would, I don't know how many people watch the Super Bowl, but if I had an opportunity to perform in front of all these people and promote my album and promote my brand and, you know, cataport myself on another tour. I would imagine after he does this, he's going to do more dates just because once you play the music in front of everybody up to date, you know, then people become interested in you. Then he's connected to Live Nation. I do know that.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Live Nation has all the venues, the promotional tours, and so when you can sit down in front of, you know, I don't know how many people watch the Super Bowl, 50 million, 60 million, 70 million people, like you'll be a fool not to take advantage of this opportunity. But I will say I'll predict this, though, right? Everybody who does the Super Bowl, that week after the Super Bowl, their streaming numbers go up tremendously by 1,000%, 2,000% crazy.
Starting point is 00:12:34 I'll make this prediction, and I don't know. Let me make the prediction. It's last up and third time today. I didn't say anything about it the first two times. Now you're going to steal my prediction. I know what you're going to say. Because I said the stream. You know what I want to say.
Starting point is 00:12:50 You got an opportunity to say this. You go first all the time. You want to steal my prediction. It's crazy. The album comes out Monday after the Super Bowl. I'll make a bet. The album comes out on, the album comes out on Monday after the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:13:10 That's my prediction. And if it doesn't come out that Monday, it comes out the following Monday. It wouldn't come out that Monday, only because they'd be like, them niggas said that album. I was going to come out on Monday. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Yeah, man. So that's a prediction that we don't know. But I know them streams go up after them Super Bowl, so why not take advantage of the opportunity and the show with Blueprint 5 tomorrow? Yeah, how the fucking fireworks, Blueprint 5 tomorrow, streaming at midnight. I'll make that prediction.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Fair. And then Maurice. Without their prediction, too. That was exactly my prediction. That was my prediction. You know, we forgot the Rick Rubin interview, too. He's been, he got the HBO special as well. So all this stuff he's been leading up,
Starting point is 00:14:06 they've been playing this stuff for a while. Yeah. That's a good point. And it's an eight-part series. Yeah, that's all we're saying is just, you know. I'm due to Joe. Listen, man, why do you care for that? Whatever you like them, I'm talking about right nation,
Starting point is 00:14:23 I'm really referring to Jay-Z and Warren. Whatever you like them, you love them, I hate them. You gotta respect the business, both. You just gotta respect it, man, as a business, you know? And it's been going on for decades, you know. You know, I was fortunate enough to grow up, of course, with Mason. You know, Dame Dash is gonna say the Super Bowl is whack, Bob.
Starting point is 00:14:50 I'm going to spit the shit. Mark. We're doing the Super Bowl still. He might bring Dame out. You just did a freestyle, said Dame teeth is fumbling out of his mouth. I'm doubly. Then I seen what he said about Irv
Starting point is 00:15:09 in that eight-part series that Maurice is talking about. Irv is dead. God bless her that shout to murder, Inc. R.P. Irv Gotti. Irv is dead and he said, Irv is a serial line stepper. The niggins not even here.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Amen coming out. My boy ain't got no love at his heart. He said he's a serial line stepper. I was like, damn he, I would think he'd say something good. Even though it wasn't bad. It was his truth. But what I was saying is this, on a business note, you have to respect the business,
Starting point is 00:15:42 whether you like them, love them, or hate them, or in between any of those things that I said. As a business, they've really done well. And you have to think about this. When you have that mentality, it doesn't have to, I'm not talking about them, talking about anybody. Talk about Master P, talking about baby, or whoever you want to talk about.
Starting point is 00:16:02 You take your street mentality and translate it into the next business, into the next business, into the next business, into the next business, that means that you get up and you hustle. These things don't just happen pardon me by accident you have to get up and you gotta fuck
Starting point is 00:16:20 with niggas like yo we gotta get this money today what we gonna do I don't care if we make $25 nigga we gotta get some money today and that's having the right niggas and having the right team we gotta think about their mentality and that's what it's about nobody does this by their self
Starting point is 00:16:36 nobody I don't care who you are the only nigga that does it by himself is Mark Zuckerberg he don't want no friends only his friends is on Facebook I don't know, Nick, they don't fuck with nobody, Mark Zuckerberg. Shout to Mark, don't close my account, Nick. I respect it.
Starting point is 00:16:54 But at the end of the day, it's the motivation. It's the fact that they want to get up and get up. You're thinking about this, you're thinking about Rihanna. They got Rihanna. You think about you want to sit there and, you know, give Biazzi at the head of her career. To me, my personal opinion, and I don't know just for a fact, just my personal opinion,
Starting point is 00:17:12 Beyonce stopped doing what she's doing. Not saying she doesn't do other things behind and see them talk about touring, music, everything to raise a family and let Jay-Z be in the front. I don't want to use the words wrong for things to get offended, but Beyonce could have been touring, non-stopping, getting money. Beyonce was not saying she still ain't the queen
Starting point is 00:17:32 to certain people, but she was at the height and said, I'm gonna raise my family. And then when you think about Juan, I'm from Harlem, I know one. So at the end of the day, just, their mentality as, yo man, we in the streets. Okay, we're going to start a record label. Watson, I'm going to buy a studio if you're going to start a record label.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Okay, cool, let's get a liquor. After they get a liquor, you know what? We'll get a champagne. Then let's go get a cognac or whatever deuce it is. Then they sold a liquor for $300 million. Then after that, they say, yo, let's step in on this Colin Kaepernick. Shouldn't steal the whole NFL. Half time, not just half time.
Starting point is 00:18:10 And I don't want to use the word steal, but they take it. took an opportunity. Steel. You can use steal if you want. They took the opportunity because it ain't just the Super Bowl. They handle all the entertainment for the NFL. You know what I'm saying? So I salute their hustling and their acrimand and just waking up in the morning saying,
Starting point is 00:18:29 we got to get to the next bag. Because you don't just do it, but nobody does it about it. Not to get to the level they're at. Yeah. And to answer Marisa's question from earlier, the Super Bowl averages about 125 million viewers per Super Bowl. Obviously a lot of eyes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:46 And even to Mesa's point. Album coming out. Yeah. I'm probably too. Even at Mesa's point because I've seen on social media and people are like, is it going to be a good show or not?
Starting point is 00:18:54 Even after going to Roots, I thought that was great. So I think it'll be good and I think a lot of people will be surprised. So we'll see if he brings out Beyonce. We'll see if brings out Rihanna, even if not. Definitely got a lot of songs performed.
Starting point is 00:19:05 So we'll see what happens. Okay. Moving along. So Shakur Stevenson announced he was granted his release from Zufa Boxing, the boxing promotion company founded by Dana White and Turkey Alishik. This is before he even got to step in the ring under their banner. He said, I've been in camp for eight weeks, preparing for fights that I was told was going to
Starting point is 00:19:24 happen and it has not happened. But look, it is what it is. This is the business of boxing. He also added he intends to launch his own promotional company that he released on a YouTube video when talking about it. So, Cam, what do you think are the pros and cons of this? I don't know. Yo, man.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Not Shakur to Let me finish this up. Let me wrap this. I'm sorry. It's just boxing has turned into just a lot of talking, man. A lot of talking, man. More talking than fighting.
Starting point is 00:19:59 And this isn't about Chakur. I'm not singling Shakur out. I have no idea what happened with Zufa. I have no idea what happened with him. But I will say this. I can't speak for him and you know he has
Starting point is 00:20:12 he said what he said and you can't dispute it till somebody else if Dana White agrees to that then the Dana White agrees to it's always true side to every story but pardon me
Starting point is 00:20:23 I know one thing they bought they started Zufo with Turkey Alice Sheik and the reason they brought Dana White in is because Dana White don't be waiting on fights when it's according to the UFC
Starting point is 00:20:36 now as he signed enough people can eat politics with the other boxing promoters and get the fights that he want? I don't know. You know, we need to get Dana White back up here on the show. He wanted to come through.
Starting point is 00:20:46 We wasn't available. Dana, we would love to have you back on the show and hear your side of the story. Anytime you're welcome. We're in the same town. Let's get it done if possible. But if we're talking about UFC, Dana White don't be waiting.
Starting point is 00:20:59 Y'all things talking shit. Y'all fighting on, nigg. What's today? October 21st, fight November tough, nigger. You're going to promote the shit out this for three weeks y'all fighting in. in Vegas. Y'all fight and now
Starting point is 00:21:10 do the rematch at the Garden on Christmas. Them niggas at UFC do not wait. They do not talk that much. They get the fights that people want to see if you're a UFC fan. And that's what I can say about Dana White. I can't dispute which, of course,
Starting point is 00:21:24 Steven is saying because I have no knowledge and I have no information. If he says he's in training for eight weeks, which is the right amount of time to train for a fight, I can't dispute that. Maybe they told him he's going to fight people. He couldn't fight. I have no information on this.
Starting point is 00:21:38 whatsoever so i don't have that's all i have to say i'm just saying dana white usually makes fight happen in ufc i don't know if he's struggling to do that in boxing yeah excuse me i looked at uh zufa boxing the same way i looked at uh live with golf and uh that's when you know you know they were trying to sign all the people from america and make all these excuse me golfers you know play all these matches overseas and the middle east was supposed to buy the golf and i thought that Rkiyala Sheik here did the same thing with Dana White, where he was trying to make these big major fights. But I honestly think that people just froze them out. All those people who had them belts, Eddie Hearns and all these other promotional companies,
Starting point is 00:22:20 they said, man, we're not about to mess with them because their money is endless, and they'll mess up the entire infrastructure of boxing. So I personally think that they were trying to make fights that they just couldn't make, and people were making it impossible to make. But I also seen in, Cam, I know you got a relationship with Floyd, I had seen Shakur in different pictures with Floyd. And I'm pretty sure Floyd probably got in his ear and probably said, hey, man, just go on your own.
Starting point is 00:22:45 And Floyd sort of laid that blueprint. And I just think that it's somewhere in his mind, he's like, look, even when you hear him talk on a YouTube video, he's not in a rush to fight Devin Haney. He's probably thinking, like, I can collect a whole bunch of bags at 135 and 140. He started naming all these other fights that he can have. And then he was like, all these innuendos, like, hey, man, I don't want to fight at 147 until I get ready, right?
Starting point is 00:23:08 So he's like, I don't want to mess up my, basically my undefeated record. And I think that where Dana White and Turkey-A-Lishik may be saying like that doesn't matter, I still think the blueprint or the precedent that Floyd sets still matters in boxing for you to have that undefeated record. As much as we would like to see dudes fight and rumble and getting to all these other fights with big-name fighters, I still think dudes still want their owe. So I just think like that's what ended up happening.
Starting point is 00:23:36 And people was freezing out, Turkey Alashik and Dana White and not making fights. But then also, Shakur was like, man, let me go ahead and take my feature of my own hands because people have seen Floyd accumulate a massive amount of wealth. And Floyd probably told him, man, make these fights at your own pace so you can really get paid and get percentages from paperview and all the other stuff that comes with boxing. Yeah, I think when it comes to Shakur, I think Shakur is a phenomenal fighter, right? You see he pitched a shout-out pause when it came to Tia Fimo. He's an excellent fighter, but the jury is going to be really watching to see what he does as a promoter.
Starting point is 00:24:14 That is still yet to be seen, amazing talent. I think it's time to just stop worrying about that, oh, and really fight the fights that are back up the talk. As fans, we just want to see the fights. We want to see the fights that we're willing to pay for. If you guys want to be major pay-per-view stars, you got to fight the fights that bring the fans out. I think there's so many things going on right now with Shakur, with Jay Prince, with Zufa, that there's just too many questions to think about. So I'm not sure if he was let go.
Starting point is 00:24:47 I'm not sure if he left. I'm not sure if he acts to be let go. I'm not sure if they just mutually parted ways. But we need to know. So Dana White, if you can come out and share, you know, just like Cam said, the sports fans need to know. So we know that the right narrative is out there. I think it's important to have the right narrative out there.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Yeah. And to answer your question, Mace. Yes. Yeah, would it make a, like this is what I started thinking. Would it make a difference with him being around Floyd? Would you feel different if he did a joint venture with Floyd? Because Floyd has that blueprint. Like, hey, I'm independent, but I'm going to allow Floyd to help me manage
Starting point is 00:25:28 or do a joint venture with him with promoting myself. Because Floyd's not actively in the game, but I'm pretty sure he has a lot of information. I can basically assist Shakur and how you manage yourself. Do I think Shakur should go with, Floyd? Just like a joint venture. Not partnering, but just say, hey, if you help me negotiate my pay-per-view contract and all the other ways like your, like, what was that Showtime show that they did,
Starting point is 00:25:57 if you basically give me that blueprint of how to promote myself, man, maybe I'll give you 20% of the purse that helped me, just stand next to me to make me pause bigger than what I really am. Like, do you think that that makes a difference? I actually do. I wish, I wish as young black men we were like that. But I think people just think is better when they're not with black people. I just think for the life of me, most celebrities just always think it's better that they give somebody else the money.
Starting point is 00:26:30 For the life of me, I don't understand that. It's like your guy could be right there and he could do the same job, but the ice is colder when it's white, you know? That's just how people believe it. So I don't think that'll happen. I think their personalities at some point will be toxic to each other. But I think when it comes to fighting, Floyd could teach Shakura some major things that can make them go to a whole other level.
Starting point is 00:26:59 I wish it could happen, but I'm not sure if that would happen. Yeah, my opinion on what you just asked, Bo, is that Chacore's actually with somebody black who bansom, Jay Prince, and I don't think Jay Prince would even allow that. Oh, I don't know if he wasn't independent. He was independent from everybody. Right, from promotion. He ain't leaving Jay Prince.
Starting point is 00:27:22 So to add to that, it seems like Chacore is just betting on himself a little bit. We'll see how it goes and see how everything unfolds. But, of course, like Cam and May said, it'd be cool to talk to Dana about it and see what transpires from it. Okay, moving along to some college football. So it seems like Texans and the Michigan fan base are getting a little frustrated with Arch Manning and Bryce Underwood, given some recent losses. Some people believe that they're actually more hype than their actual ability. So both teams right now are giving their second string guys first team reps.
Starting point is 00:27:53 So Maurice, I'm actually going to ask you first. If you're the head coach, how do you manage these high profile situations? It's a bit tougher. the Michigan situation, the Texas situation a little bit different. The Texas situation is very tender and the reason I say that is because you have the Manning brand and I can see Peyton Manning, Arch Manning, Eli Manning or the whole Manning family allowing the Manning dude to get bench. I'm pretty sure that they called into the head coach and said, hey man, you know, you can't diminish our brand somebody that's all paying $9 million a year, sit him on a bench.
Starting point is 00:28:31 and just, you know, tuck him away like he doesn't matter. And so I think like that's a little bit tougher to manage, but then there's a team element to a two where if your first guy isn't playing well and you're sticking with him just because his last name is Manning, you could potentially lose the whole locker room with that. And people see that you're managing somebody one way and then you're treating the team the other way.
Starting point is 00:28:49 So like that's the conflict. And so via the head coach, excuse me, I would say to hell with the Madden brand and think about the group long term and move on from them and then basically put somebody in the game that I think can help us win games. The Michigan situation is a bit different because, you know, I know we joked in the group message, but they've never had a black quarterback. And I think they've had a black quarterback experience.
Starting point is 00:29:17 And I think the experience didn't go as they would like. And they're moving on to the old head coach's grandson. And so I think like the Michigan fan base will be a little bit more accepting because they have the old head coach, which is Lloyd Carr's grandson, who's the up-to-date quarterback. And so that's a little bit easier. So two different situations, the Manning situation is a little bit tender just because Paul's that whole situation, just because they're brand, but I don't see them ruining it. The Michigan situation, I just think that they have no problem moving on from a black
Starting point is 00:29:48 quarterback just because I just think that their brand fits more of like the traditional white Tom Bradyish quarterback, and they've had success with those dudes. And that's pretty much it. Mo, that take was wow. That take was wow. They just used to the white Tom Brady. This is crazy. On one end where Paul, we're saying don't go with the name.
Starting point is 00:30:16 And then on another end, you're going with the old coach's grandson. We got to stop this. We got to pick which side we're really going to be on with this. Because I personally think, I think it's in. that if I had a son and you brought my son to the school, you came to my house, you drunk our Kool-A, you did all of this, pause to get my son at your program, and then midstream, you're going to switch up after my son is getting $9 million. Put yourself in the manning situation.
Starting point is 00:30:52 We've been working on this for years. You asked us to bring him to Texas. You asked us to make him a longhorn. You came there with the paraphernalia saying he'll be a long horn for life and all of this, you know, doing your fingers like this. And now he's there and you're talking about in the year that he makes the most money that you're going to announce you're thinking about going with a backup. Nah, we're not going for that.
Starting point is 00:31:20 There's no way we could go for that. And then to turn around and do your Michigan take mo? and do the exact thing that you said you wasn't going to do last time. I'm not sure what's going on, Cam, but H&R is going to have to have a talk. We're going to have to have a talk about what's going on up here. I don't know what's going on. Did you hear it stat? The switchup is not about the name.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Then it's about the old coach grandson. Which one is it? Which one is it, Mo? That's not what I said. I don't want to lie in step, but that's not what I say. You're saying it's not about the name. but then we're coming back to the old coach's grandson, which is going to feel like to the people that we're going with the name.
Starting point is 00:32:04 So if we're not going with the name, then we wouldn't play Manning, and we wouldn't play, I mean, we wouldn't play the other guy, but we would not sit out Manning and then experiment with another guy, pause in the longhorns, and then turn around and say, but we're going to place the grandson of the old coach in the position, because that's going to feel like you're doing it just because of the name.
Starting point is 00:32:30 And I'm saying if it's just because of the name, let it just be the year of nepotism, you know? No, I said you're paying $9 million or something and a guy's not performing. And so just because his last name is Manning, you can't continue to sink the ship with the team. The team is going down, but you're holding on to Manning just because he's a manning. So I say you have to get him off the ship and basically put it in the backup so you can see how the other guy performs to save the team. You don't want to be in a situation where it feels like you're treating this guy or you're catering to one guy to save the team.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Being on the other end with Michigan, I'm telling you that I believe that just because, like Michigan, this is their first time experimented with a black quarterback. And so they've experimented it and ain't worked out for a couple years. And that's like the elephant in the room, pause. That's like, hey, this is the elephant in the room. This ain't working out. this is our black quarterback. We've put a bunch of money into Arch Manning.
Starting point is 00:33:29 We put a bunch of money into Bryce Underwood. And then the backup comes in, but I think from the traditional Michigan fan base, it's easier for them to accept the white quarterback. And then he happens to be the old coach's grandson. And he happens to be the brother of the same quarterback that's not Notre Dame. So it's easier for people to be like, okay,
Starting point is 00:33:47 we can accept this and we can watch the $9 million away. But I just don't think that you can be in that same situation for Texas. I just don't think that I just think that that's just a different scenario with Texas and just the Manning brand. Yeah, Mo, I don't, I want Cam to go and have his take, but I'm being serious. There's no way you could let go of a Manning in, in Texas, right?
Starting point is 00:34:12 If there was a state that not do it in, that would be the state you don't do it. And in Texas and where else? Florida, there's certain. in places that that's not going to happen. You can't afford to do that to the name. The name has too much legacy to it. I mean, I wish they did the same thing with the Sanders family.
Starting point is 00:34:34 But that's another take. Cam, it's on you. Michael Jordan's son got legacy to it. What's over him? Who's the bigger brain? Jordan Amanda. You're right. If Jordan's son is in there balling and he's halfway good,
Starting point is 00:34:59 if he's getting 16 points. This is true. You got to go with the legacy because that could turn around. You know, Jordan hit a shot in college, and then he becomes Jordan. So you got to leave him on the floor. You just don't want to be the person that didn't give him a shot. I mean, we saw it. We saw it with Bronny.
Starting point is 00:35:21 You got to give him a shot. That's LeBron James son. This is true. You got to do that, man. So we're going to keep the same, same energy when it comes to our manning. Yeah. That don't like that. No, no, I'm listening.
Starting point is 00:35:35 I'm listening. Go ahead. Well, first of all, making them a longhorn is a wild pause. So I just was. Who said that? You actually. So let's make them a longhorn. Cam.
Starting point is 00:35:47 That's actually real crazy. Who said that? Mace, you were talking for five minutes. I sat him in quiet. You said, you don't bring him to Texas and say, let's make him a longhorn. That's what you said. You actually said that.
Starting point is 00:36:02 So I just let you finish. I didn't want to last up to interrupt. But you said, let's make him a longhorn. That's secondly. Then that's firstly. Secondly, I heard a lot of analysts say, if the jersey on the back of his, if the name on the back of his jersey,
Starting point is 00:36:20 then say Manning, when his career is over, he played for the Fairfax Pigeons, he wouldn't make it to know NFL if it was any other name on the back of that jersey. So it's a lot of people pissed off with Archie Man.
Starting point is 00:36:34 They're saying he's not running. You know, he has some decent yards. Five interceptions, only 11 touchdowns. I'm not going to say only eight because I'm not going to say like I'm the big college expert, but I do watch week to week in college is really excited. Especially now, it's a lot of,
Starting point is 00:36:50 it's a lot of even teams like, Especially state rivalries. Like, you know, I was fucking with Stadden a minute ago. Like, you know, we was expecting Miami to beat the shit out of Florida State. And Florida State made an interest in when the overtime. That gave was really good. But, yeah, the reports on E on par with, Archie Manning are not good. But I do agree with Mason.
Starting point is 00:37:11 He's marketable. And when they try and you're marketable, they'll try and find a way. Let's just hope, you know, I would say, you know, Tim Tebow, but he's not even doing Tim Tebow shit in college. You know how Tim Tebow was super good in college. He ain't got to NFL, and he just wasn't paying out in the NFL. But he ain't even doing that in college. Tim Tebow's a champion.
Starting point is 00:37:34 And not saying Texas don't have a chance, you know. They beat Ohio State this year. I'm not happy about it. But, you know, let's call them, let it is what it is. You know, I'm not bragging about it. I'm more Ohio State fan. support as well, but, you know, he did beat the number one. What was we ranked?
Starting point is 00:37:56 Number one more? Who was number one at the time? Yeah, he beat the number one team and then they became number one. It's just that, like Mace was saying, when you have a certain last name, your expectations are high. And because he's playing decent, he's going to get a chance to go to the NFL. If you have a last name and your son wants to sniff cocaine, We're going to put you with the sneaker company
Starting point is 00:38:23 and hope you're turning your life around. That's all we could do for you. Then what do you do? Go mess with his teammates, wife, his father, his teammates, baby mother. It's a mess. It's a mess. But more powers to the mannings, manings, man.
Starting point is 00:38:40 I want to ask you this real quick, makes, because I know you're saying, well, I mean, you guys are both basically in the grease. You've got to do it. How long do you kind of give him? because I think this is just these back-to-back losses that got them like, nah, nah, like he got to go. So what do we think?
Starting point is 00:38:55 I think there's equity in the name and there's power in the deals that get made pause behind the scenes. I think when people are talking about sports, they're oblivious to the politics that happened behind the scenes. A guy that has six-four playing quarterback in high school. I think all of us know how how special that kid has looked upon when he's in high school, right? So this was a dream come true probably to Texas, right, before he gets there. And now on pause once he's there, he's not playing well. They have to let him finish out the season, even if he have to transfer after this season, because that's the integrity of even being a head coach and you want other players to come there.
Starting point is 00:39:46 You do not want players thinking that you get them on campus and then you start doing something different. That is a hoopah's nightmare, pause. That is a football player's nightmare. Right, Mo? That you're a parade All-American or you're a great player in high school. They do all of these things that get you there. And then when you get on campus, they switch it up. You know how that feels to a star athlete.
Starting point is 00:40:14 No, I mean, you wouldn't know, but there's. This happens so many times, and I think just for the legacy of the program and the head coaching, that you have to leave them in there. Even if you tell them after this season, you know, you're going to have to transfer. You got to let them finish this season for the integrity of the program. They're in somebody living room every year, man, lying to them. Every year, there's somebody different niggins living room. You know this we're giving them.
Starting point is 00:40:41 We're hitting the keys over to you. This is your team. team. Nigger walk out rolling his eyes to that coach. Oh my God, man. Where we got to go now? Michigan. Talk to another, nigga. But I do think because it's the man
Starting point is 00:40:58 and still figure it out. My bad, ma'amom. I ain't I mean, cut you up. Go. No, it just but to I hear Mace, but I don't agree because you lose so many, like when you talk about excellence, when you talk about standards, when you
Starting point is 00:41:14 talk about expectations, when you talk about just running the program, that's the messaging you send to everybody. And I think that from a personal standpoint, if you were running something else other than a team, it may be acceptable. But you're basically saying that since I made this commitment to this dude because he's a manning and that he draws money into the building
Starting point is 00:41:34 that even though I know he's not the best person to put us in the situation, I'm going to allow him to sink the ship. And I think that's what people are mad about. And it's just it's a tough spot to be in, but I think the right thing to do for the whole, I think you have to make the better decision for the whole group versus accommodate the mandings because after they're done there, he's gone,
Starting point is 00:41:55 but you still have to, you know, have your program. And your program would always hold that against you that, you know, you treated this dude different so we don't have standards. You don't have integrity. You don't have consistency across everything. So I think the more honorable thing to do is be like, yo, bro, we need the best person
Starting point is 00:42:13 who's going to put us in a position, the chance to win. And if he was a good teammate, he would understand it too. I'm not playing well. So let's get somebody in this game. We're going to put us in a position to win. Mo, I agree with you. I think you're missing the money point.
Starting point is 00:42:26 The money point. This is like the, I'll now call this the Caitlin Clark rule, right? If Caitlin Clark is not playing well, do we not play Caitlin Clark? She's the person. Everybody's coming to see. There's some business that goes to the sport, too. That's what I'm trying to say. You get what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:42:46 I'm not saying don't play the guy that that's the best player. I'm saying in an event that they've committed this much money to this, this guy and his family is bringing a lot of money even to the other players. Is that correct? Once you got certain players in that program, it brings more money to the running back. It brings more money to the wire receivers. It brings more money to the special teams. Everybody get more money because of Man and is in his end.
Starting point is 00:43:13 the program. If you take that manning out of the program, the money amount changes. So I'm equating the money amount as well. We can definitely agree to that. And he brings a brand value. He probably attracted a lot of those people because those people got driven into the hype and they wanted to stand next to him. And we can agree to that. And I think we, but I think that's the question right there. Like, what do you do in this situation? You know, I don't know if it is a right or wrong. answer, but I definitely agree with you with Sam that the business is what makes everything go. But how do you manage that situation? And I think that was the ultimate question.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Oh, yeah. This is a great conversation. Both of us at valid points. And I agree with you. I'm just giving the objective view to that view that fans have because on the other end, there's a guy who would be getting $7.50 as an NIL deal. but now that Manning is there, he's looking at 1.5. That's a world of a difference to a kid fresh out of high school.
Starting point is 00:44:19 So sometimes that's just a part of what comes with it. I mean, you know, they want to take their pictures with the Manning family. You're not going to be at Thanksgiving if you sit, my son, you know. So you got to think about where y'all going for Christmas and all of that. So it's a lot to think about, you know. But I think just ironing out these things are, you're right. You do have to iron this out. You don't want to lose the locker room.
Starting point is 00:44:47 So maybe you have a meeting with the guys. Hey, this is what's going to happen long as you know that this is what's going to happen. I'm willing to make this decision. But it may cut your money, you know, next quarter. Are you okay with that? Because that's where we're going. You know, just like in a gym, you bring in your star players and you tell them these are the changes that are going to be made. So, you know, the whole locker room is not lost with that too.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Sometimes there's so much camaraderie between the players and people have their favorites that some people don't want to play with a different quarterback because they don't get as many touches. You know how that goes. That's correct. There's definitely no right or wrong answer. That's why I think it's overall a good discussion because there is two sides of it. And obviously, we're not in the locker room to know what the coach is seeing, specifically from Arch that maybe the backup quarterback might not even have, but it's also just
Starting point is 00:45:42 been, I mean, we've seen it in the NFL. It's been the year of the backups in general. So we will see who ends up overperforming. But all good stuff and a good conversation there, y'all. Okay, so last thing before we wrap, it's time to get into some NFL predictions for this weekend. Y'all know we've been tracking. We're tracking. Mace. Yeah, I'm taking this serious now. And I need the question corrects that. Is people keep saying you're giving Mace different information. And I'm glad people online is saying it too. They say Mace would really be winning if it wasn't so biased in the way they give them the questions.
Starting point is 00:46:19 I don't, you know. But I'm glad we got the poll, pause, because they get to tell us what's really going on. We got the Packers playing the Lions in Detroit. Mace, what do we think? Okay. Are the quarterbacks playing? We'll double check. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:46:36 I don't know how to answer because it's not Friday. Is Joy and Love? Is he quarterback? He's expected to play. He's expected to play. Cam, why are you screwing your face up? We need to know if Joy and Love is going to be the quarterback. That wasn't your question.
Starting point is 00:46:52 You said, is it a quarterback's playing? I meant the starters. You didn't say that, though. That's why I made the face. You said, I think it's going to be quarterbacks playing every game, no matter what game it is. That's the reason I made the face. Cam, you're not. line stepping. You asked me a question. Didn't he say, why am I making a face?
Starting point is 00:47:11 I'm just not part of it. You asked me a question that I'm lying stepping. I can't win up here, man. No, my bad. My fault. Can I have my moment? You having a lot of moments. I'm going. Pause. I'm going with the Packers. I'm going. I'm going with the Packers. going with the Packers. Okay. Let's do Maurice and then Kim. Yeah, I'm going with the lines at home. I like the defense better. I like the run game better. And I just believe that they get it done at all. I'm also going with the Packers. Pause. Why is that a pause? Actually, I'm not going to ask for you. Packers is wild, actually. It's actually really wild. The name is crazy.
Starting point is 00:48:06 Why is that a problem? I guess. Shout to Packers. Okay. And Mace, Tidal Town, the Chiefs versus the Seahawks. What do we think? Did you want me to go with the Seahawks? No, I'm going with Worthy.
Starting point is 00:48:21 I'm going with Rice. We're going with Kelsey. We're going with the mighty Chiefs. The Mighty, Mighty Chiefs. Mighty Chiefs. Mighty Chiefs. Maurice, what do we think? Yeah, I'm going with the run game.
Starting point is 00:48:34 My man's on the role with the Chiefs. I think the chiefs go and just, they've reclaimed what they were two, three years to go down the road. They have momentum. They believe. I just think that the chiefs go up to Seattle and get it done. Let me ask the question to that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:53 Where are they playing at? They're playing in Seattle. Mm, 12, man. See you there. What, you know? Hmm, home. You know, that's the loudest arena in football, the Seattle Seahawks Arena.
Starting point is 00:49:16 This is a good, this is a tough one right here. I'm actually going to go with the Chiefs as well, but I wouldn't be surprised the Chiefs lose. I actually don't think the Chiefs are going to lose until they play the Arizona Cardinals, my personal opinion. But I will pick the Chiefs, but, you know, that stadium going to be on fire.
Starting point is 00:49:37 It's going to be on fire. I actually looking forward to that. game now that I know it's actually in Seattle. You know, this kid is Walker's homecoming. Yeah, listen, man, Super Bowl MVP. I was talking to Arabia more, and I know we keep talking about quarterbacks. You know, we're talking about Patrick Mahomes or Brock Purdy or Josh Allen. I really think Kenne of Walker should be in that conversation as well.
Starting point is 00:50:05 I'm with you. I think my man get up here to Seattle. I think he gets mad that he didn't have a contract with him. And I tell you like this, man, the people who have success in life or the people who walk around with something to prove and I think he's going to go up there with something to prove. That's just my personal opinion. And even that 12th man may feel different to him, pause,
Starting point is 00:50:25 just because he played there last year. So he may be just used to and be acclimated to just all that noise in general. I think that what they say, he's on the role right now. He's tracking for 2,600 yards or 2,300 yards, something like that I heard. And when you have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback, you're just going to get what they call him football like a soft box, right? Where you have to have safeties who play a little bit looser, paws,
Starting point is 00:50:49 than everybody else. And so he's going to get all of those looks. And then one person ain't bringing my man down. And so that's why I believe that when you establish the run game, you know, that sounds crazy. One man ain't bringing him down. That was crazy. I don't want to say that.
Starting point is 00:51:04 It was crazy. You're on a roll, though. Yeah, I just don't believe that I just think he goes up there. And I'm about to say something crazy. He had a great performance. Going crazy. It was good, you know. He's going crazy.
Starting point is 00:51:26 Stephen not voided. But we will track and see who gets their record correct. Maris, you are now on the running. So we will see what happens this weekend. But y'all, that is all the time that we have for today. Maurice, you know, it's always a pleasure to have you on the show. Good seeing you, Mo. We can.
Starting point is 00:51:41 All right. Thank y'all for watching. And as always, it is what it is.
