Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome back to It Is What It Is. I'm Treasure Wilson aka Stat Baby along with your hosts Cam and Mace. How are you feeling today? Good, what's going on? I'm doing wonderful. Glad to have you back. You came to ball. I ball every day, man. I'm all off the court. Be ready, I'm ready today. You know that. If anybody knows, you know that if anybody know you know
Starting point is 00:00:25 that okay let's go well speaking of balling we gotta talk about jaw moran john rants photos at the strip club were leaked to the public where he was throwing tens of thousands of dollars but the photos were leaked coincidentally after he was in some trouble with the nba for flashing a gun on ig live as of right now, Ja has turned himself into a counseling center and there's no sign of when he will return to the NBA. What are your thoughts on the strip club situation and Ja? I think I'm gonna back Ja. I think he actually, I didn't see the money. It could be Usher Bucks for all I know. Maybe he wasn't see the money. It could be Usher Bucks for all I know. Maybe he wasn't
Starting point is 00:01:05 throwing no money. What's Usher Bucks to be specific? You coming in hot, huh? You coming in hot. Who said he was throwing money? Yeah, what's Usher Bucks? Did you see the money? No, I'm just saying, I don't know. I want to know. In Vegas, there was a strip club and they got mad at Usher because he was throwing the money, but it wasn't real hundreds. It had Usher Raymond on it. They call it Usher bucks.
Starting point is 00:01:35 The girl took the bag home, thought she was rich. No, I've seen the Usher Raymond bucks. You got a lot of platforms. I didn't know if you meant Usher, Usher. Raymond Bucks, you got a lot of platforms. I didn't know if you meant Usher, Usher. That's why I was like, hold on. What you mean? Something going on with the? Yeah, maybe he was throwing Usher bucks.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Yo, no, I thought you meant the church, the Usher. That's why I was like, hold the fuck on. Because you know, I was like, hold on. It's the Usher stealing some shit. But I seen the Usher bucks he was talking about. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to cut you off, murder. Yeah, I think.
Starting point is 00:02:06 I just want to say, hold on. I don't know if he was throwing usher bucks. He could have been throwing usher bucks. So if he was throwing usher bucks, are we even having this conversation? Is it still a meltdown? It could be a melt-up. My opinion on the whole situation is this.
Starting point is 00:02:21 They try to make a storyline out of what they want to make a storyline out of. The want to make a storyline out of. The man made close to $40 million already talking about endorsements, what he got going on. He didn't even get to his $231 million. It isn't like he has a problem. It isn't like he's about to go broke. If he wants to go out one night and spend $50,000, $60,000, $70,000 in a strip club, fine. People don't have half the money or 10 or 1 of the money that he has goes out and throws thousands all the time he's not breaking the law he's not doing anything wrong so now what happens is it's like oh man he's he has a gun now
Starting point is 00:02:57 he's in a strip club so now they're gonna try and make him the bad guy so to speak i'm not yeah he's not a bad guy no what i'm saying'm saying is, absolutely, Murdo, but the thing about it is, it's like, okay, cool, the gun is far-fetched. Now I can't look at nobody naked, too. Like, yo, now, next thing we need, he's shipped off to some facility in Florida
Starting point is 00:03:18 where he needs to get help. And where in Florida? Is it South Beach? That's a good question. He may be getting... He might be getting counsel in South Beach. To me, this is all a ploy to save his endorsements because he just lost
Starting point is 00:03:33 one of his endorsements. What was that? Powerade or whatever. Exactly. So now he's like, hold on. Let me not buck the system. Let me not go Kyrie Irving. Now he's getting probably good advice from whoever, his agent, his parent, parents somebody he could have came to one of us for that That's fair. That's a well talk to somebody who've been through it. Look at me if you're watching this I am mace That's camera. Yeah, that's somebody who did it. That's a fact and doing it still still still
Starting point is 00:04:02 That's a fact, but I think that nothing's wrong going to the strip club nothing wrong spent it for his case spending 60 70 80 thousand now they shipping them off and he has to be in Florida at this counseling thing and that's just to save money saving doors but I will say it's the right thing to do and not ostracize itself kind of like what Kyrie did. What if the gun was fake? Are we still having the conversation? I think my... Fake gun, usher bucks? Fake guns, fake money, man. It might all be Monopoly.
Starting point is 00:04:35 What I will say is this, if it was fake, he wouldn't have issued an apology. He would have been like, y'all tripping. Fuck is you talking about? This is a lighter. Boom, boom. That's what... Fuck is you talking about? This is a lighter. Boom, boom. Fuck is you talking about? Like that's what I think he would have said. I think he's guilty about the gun. I think it's more pressure because of the strip club. And I think now niggas in Denver, that's club, whoever put that out, not Denver as a city. I love Denver as a city, that club,
Starting point is 00:04:59 y'all some suck ass niggas for putting that shit out. Why did y'all do that? Y'all some suck ass niggas for putting that out. Those niggas. Why did y'all do that? Y'all some suck ass niggas for putting that out. Those niggas up there who put that Jordan Poole, Draymond Green footage out, y'all some suck ass niggas. But I dig it. TMZ is paying tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands for footage. So I know why you did it, but y'all still some suck ass niggas. And they loaned a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I don't know a lot of people that's going to want to go to that club after knowing what they did to Ja Morant. Absolutely. Facts. Honestly, it seems like nobody's safe anywhere. If you can't go to the strip club, then where are you going to go? There you go. There you go. How do you feel about it? I feel like, first of all, the strip club had him messed up because if he paid for a service, that's the service he's paying for. So why are you exposing him? him like he's young he's got a lot of money he's allowed to go out so what's what's the issue the problem is this see there's a lot of people out there that say help somebody out help somebody he paid somebody rent that night he helped somebody get their tuition money he paid for a dinner he paid for a new outfit y'all don't look
Starting point is 00:06:01 at it like that he helped a lot of people out that night. He's a philanthropy. Yeah, he is. That's what he's saying. Get on philanthropy. He's a philanthropist. Get on philanthropy. And I bet you about four or five ladies are cheering for Ja Morant right now and telling their friends what a good guy he is.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Salute Ja Morant, matter of fact. He did a good deed. So on that note, we salute Ja Morant. We'll be right back for the next. I'm my own problem, babe. She's tired of hearing, I don't know. My stubborn enemy won't fall. Dealing with this thing called trust. But she really thinking about it. She want to be free. Welcome back to It Is What It Is.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Too much pride. Okay. So the NBA and the MBpa are moving closer to a rule that players must play in a minimum amount of games to be eligible for major awards such as mbp do you believe this is a good idea um pause i gotta bring it up it's called pause pause pause load management loads and I think it's crazy that people play a little bit of games and then um actually win the championship because they're the rest of the team you know I think um who who brought that to the league um San Antonio did it one year they did it and it worked so well that's why you saw
Starting point is 00:07:47 kawaii lennon hitting his shot in the corner he had way more energy than everybody else kawaii's still doing it yes with toronto they did the same thing so but i think it's crazy if i'm a kid and my parents pay a ticket for me to go see a player and he's not playing that game right we need half our money back look at me Adam Silver I'm the voice you can trust it's chill Cam I got this I'm the voice you can trust I never lie listen and I'm always right I'm not paying for a ticket if the player is not guaranteed to be there. I need half of my money back. If not, what you think? What you think?
Starting point is 00:08:28 Listen, I would love to disagree with anything you said, but I'm 100% exactly on the same type of time you on. To go back to the original question before we get to low management pause. Oh, that was crazy. I said, yo, you said, hey, yo, my nigga. The way you said it was crazy. We're going to be petty. We can start now.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Just let me know. We can start now. But you said load management first. The way you said it, it was an extra pause. That's reaching, bro. Did I say it? Yo, did I say it crazy? It was an extra pause.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Did I say it? Is he reaching? It, did I say crazy? It was the exit? Right Wow Now that's that's well I said low You should chill. You're going into a rabbit hole right now. Yo. Yo.
Starting point is 00:09:33 That was crazy. I can't breathe. I don't care. You're supposed to put an extra D on it as well. Put an extra D on it. It's crazy. Yeah. What an action to do. It's crazy. You can say what you want. You can say what you want. I need tissue, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Yeah. Yo. Yo. Yo. Yo. Come on, get back Yo. Yo. Come on, give me a minute. Yo, you should have. Yo.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Yo, yo. Yo, anybody watching this, anybody watching this, tell me right now, was his crazier than what I said? Yo, now that's, that's entrapment. That's Paul's entrapment. Right or wrong? Right or wrong? That's not Paul's entrapment?
Starting point is 00:10:37 He like, what is it called? Put the camera on Cameron right now. That's not entrapment? Yo, listen, that's entrapment right there, man. Okay, what is it called? That's wild entrapment, man. That's crazy. I'm not even paying no mind stab, baby.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Look, I got to, because it will be all day fucking with this nigga. For the scoring title, and I think it should be like this for a lot of accolades. For the scoring title, you have to play at least 58 games to win the scoring title. It should be like that with MVP, assist record, NBA, all first team, second team, third team, defensive team. 58 games? Minimum to win the scoring title.
Starting point is 00:11:19 It should be more than that. It should be about 62. Yeah, I say that. Or at least 70 maybe. Yeah. At least 70. 20 is a lot of games to miss that's 24 games i mean if i was paying right that's 24 games that you're missing that you still could potentially win the scoring title so what mace was saying was 100% right. If you're a fucking nine-year-old kid
Starting point is 00:11:45 and you want to see John Morant come to Boston and they only come to the East Coast, to East Team one time a year and you have to save up because you're a hard-working parent and you have to save your money because you got to go to work and you're like, my son wants these tickets. I don't want to get the
Starting point is 00:12:01 nosebleeds. I'm trying to save up. I'll do it next year. And now John Moran can't come. Not even because he's hurt. And not even because of what Mace calls it. Usher Bucks. Yeah. Not even Usher Bucks, the management he was talking about.
Starting point is 00:12:17 It's just a whole other situation. You know what I'm saying? And I think that's messed up to the fan. What the NBA also does is that they market stars? They don't market teams then we like all the new look Boston Celtics or the Lakers or the Sacramento Kings of doing that we market these stars not we pardon me the NBA market stars And so now you're looking for Jason Tatum. Now you're looking for John Moran. Now you're looking for LeBron James Now you're looking for Kevin Durant. Now you're looking for Devin Booker
Starting point is 00:12:44 You're looking for all these players and they potentially can't come. And that's fucked up for the average working class person. It's very fucked up. Now if you hurt and you can't play cool, but to take a game off, that's fucked up. What I will say is this to the NBA players, and you can say, Cam, shut the fuck up. You don't know what you're talking about. Whatever. This is my opinion.
Starting point is 00:13:03 If you're going to do load management, pause. You should at least do it on the same coast that you're on. When you fly, if you're a West Coast player and you got to go to the East Coast, try and play that game because there's somebody on the East Coast that's only got the chance to see you this one time. If you're on the West Coast,
Starting point is 00:13:20 you might play, say you're the Lakers, you're going to play Golden State two, three times, maybe four times a year. Or play the Clippers up and you go to the other coast try to play those games because those fans Love you, too, and they only got a chance to see one time a year Well, all we can see is if they finalize this rule we'll be right back Pink horsepower Pink Horse Power. you act like hella light skinned. You fucking blind? I'm dark skinned. What the fuck? And then like, look at your beard. What the fuck is wrong with my beard? Your beard looks stupid.
Starting point is 00:14:09 What the fuck are you talking about? No, I don't even like it. The way you breathe in, all of that. Has this ever happened to you? Your girl seems to be mad, angry, upset. She's frustrated. There's only one way to handle that. Pink horsepower. She's frustrated. There's only one way to handle that. Pink Horse Power.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Oh, but your breath! Remember! But your breath is really refreshing! No, no, no, no, no. I'm just trying to give you a massage. Plus, have I told you how good your beard looks lately. It looks so good. No! It looks... PHP.
Starting point is 00:14:53 It works every time. Wait! Where you going? Wait, wait, wait. Before we go into the next thing, if Ja would have came up to you with the usher box, are you dancing? Okay, I wouldn't be in that situation.
Starting point is 00:15:19 But if I was the dancer, I would just keep my mouth shut. That's what I would do. If John Morant walked up to you and shot in publics and had a book bag and said, yo, in aisle three. In public? Yeah, don't take it off, just twerk something for me. 24,000. 24,000. For John Morant, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:15:44 But if there was some dollars on the floor. Yeah. Al three, 10,000. She's gone. I wouldn't. Not me personally, though. You wouldn't do it? If you know me, I wouldn't do that.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Especially in a public that's crazy. No, I'm not, though. If y'all know me, y'all would know. But, okay. Is that baby or Capricorn? Which one is it? Yeah. Capricorn.
Starting point is 00:16:04 All right. Well, speaking of the NBA. The NBA finds. I don't know if I'll okay that baby or Capricorn which one is it yeah Capricorn all right well speaking of the NBA the NBA fine I don't know I believe that Marcus smart $25,000 for an altercation with Trey Young oh yeah I saw that yeah you seen it did you see it I actually just watched it yeah yeah okay so they said that Marcus initiated an on-court altercation and pulled Trae Young down. So do you think the NBA has been going crazy with handing out fines? And do you think the NBA is soft? Which one you want me to answer first?
Starting point is 00:16:38 First is the NBA soft. We got to go into that. Then we can go into the altercation. The NBA is soft. I think he was on his way to fight, and then somebody tripped him, and then he fell and pulled him down. He didn't really want to slam him, but he ended up slamming him anyway. So you think it was an accident?
Starting point is 00:16:54 I think it was malicious intent, but he was thinking about it, and he got pushed into it. And then because it looked so gruesome, he tried to go with it and say, yeah, you know I slammed that nigga right there. I like that. Yeah, I slammed that nigga. That's right. I slammed that nigga. That's definitely what he called me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:13 You tried to go talk to that nigga. Yeah, yeah. I've been doing that though, nigga. I was like, nigga, on the phone like, word, that is you. I ran down on that nigga. Definitely getting there in the NBA. What are you They're getting there in the NBA. What are you doing? You're in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:17:28 You can't run down on that nigga. What was the actual, did they hand out a fine yet for that? Yeah, $25,000. Is it on Marcus Smart? Yes. Did he miss any games? Or just... I don't believe so. I think it was just fine.
Starting point is 00:17:50 I'm gonna say that's cool then, because I'm gonna... Listen, David Stern... Adam Silver is lighter than David Stern. What I'm saying is, $25,000 is not a lot for niggas making millions. I think it's kind of steep for a nigga like me to have a fight. I say, come on, $25,000. I ain't even get my head off yeah for 25 let me two piece let me get a two-piece me i'm a two-piece you for 25. you know what i'm saying that's a lawsuit yeah exactly but the end of the
Starting point is 00:18:16 day i'm gonna say that the nba is soft but not because of necessarily Adam Silver. I would say that Adam Silver is kinda still, I don't know the right words to use, murder, but he's kinda unscrewing pores. I know. I said, yo, this we gonna do. All right, all right, I bow. Yeah, yeah. I bow. I bow. I bow. I bowed. You bowed.
Starting point is 00:18:46 I bowed. You bowed. He was waiting. You was waiting. Why? We even though. We even though. This is crazy.
Starting point is 00:19:02 I said we even. I'm going to use a different terminology. But Adam Silver's trying to, whatever he's trying to do. He's trying to undo. Yeah, not 100% trying to undo what David Stern did. Because David Stern, Carmelo came, boom. Hit a nigga in the garden, backed up on a nigga. I think he got suspended 49 games.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Yeah, 49 games. For one punch. And the palace. Yeah, they missed 12 seasons. Yeah. Ron Artes and Steven Jackson. And some of them never came back. They never got back.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Yeah. So for that to happen and Adam Silver say, look, you're not going to miss no games. Take this $25,000. You're making $13,000, $14,000 million this year. Shut up and keep it moving. I think that's cool. I think David Stern went without a field day with this year can have this. Yeah, we're Barkley got his eye black.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Yeah, exactly. David Stern kick you out 1012 game. It was game six and listen, I'm a San Antonio Spurs fan and I remember the Phoenix Suns being up. I think it was like three games to two. Yeah, and a Marvy style. This one. It was And Amari Stoudemire, Steve Nant, they had the crew, and they ran off the bench. And they had to miss the next game for coming off the bench. Because if you run off the bench, you automatically miss a game. That's the shit David Stern used to do.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Playoffs and not fucking a championship. Chris Chow's with Kobe. Two-piece Kobe. It was a lot of crazy i think to answer your question nba is soft to agree with murder but i think it's just residue from david stern to be good i think 25 000 and you miss no games that's all right now what i would say is for think about this what think about this i'm listening think about this go ahead i'm telling you think about this i'm listening think about this go ahead i'm telling you
Starting point is 00:20:52 and i'm just telling you what and i don't you don't even necessarily have to elaborate i just want to show you where the world is going let's go 25 000 fine for slamming a yeah on his back a nigga on his back. $40,000 fine for a player saying no homo after in his interview. We'll go to the next topic. Oh, okay. So, we talked about. Taylor, you won one today. I'm saying, though.
Starting point is 00:21:24 25 for the slim. 25 for the slim. It might be 80. No, recently, homeboy from Brooklyn, after the game, said no homo. Yeah. And they fined him $40,000. You ain't see that? Mm-mm. This was like a week ago.
Starting point is 00:21:38 $40,000? No. Oh, I thought you seen it. So before we go next time, it's not there. It was Cam Thomas. Cam Thomas. So I'm telling you, so we looked at the nigga $25,000 for Slim.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Cam Thomas, after his game, the other day, he was doing an interview and he was like, you know, they all got good looking guys over there,
Starting point is 00:21:55 no homo. $40,000 fine. $40,000. So what I'm saying is, and I'm not disagreeing, do your thing, Adam Silver. That's just the way it is. That racial, homophobic,
Starting point is 00:22:15 anything dissonant, words, so to speak, get far more than an actual physical altercation. Words. Words. That's what we need to pay attention to and i'm not saying that that's wrong i'm just saying let's pay attention to what's going on cam you starting to get really deep i'm just it makes you think though it's food for thought yeah
Starting point is 00:22:34 makes you think i'm not scared put the camera on me you can't cancel me i'm already canceled. I canceled me. Yeah. I'm gonna say what I want to say. Yeah, that's why they got me here. Yeah, I canceled myself. So we spoke about John Morant and Marcus Smart, but everybody in the NBA is talking about Victor Wemby Nyama. He's a seven foot two, 230 pound player who is now playing for the Metropolitans. Does he seem like a promising player? What team do you think would be a good fit? And then just overall, what are your thoughts on players playing for international or G League teams instead of college?
Starting point is 00:23:19 Get your money young man, get your money man. That's what I say. Listen. Get paid young nigga, get paid. Get paid young nigga, get paid. Get paid young nigga, get paid. Get paid young nigga, young man. Get your money, man. Yeah. That's what I say. Listen. Get paid, young nigga. Get paid. Get paid, young nigga. Get paid. Get paid, young nigga.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Get paid, man. That's the beach door plan. There you go, boy. Listen. I always said this, and, you know, I'm happy that young guys are getting these NIL deals. And because what happens is even if you go to college, they're doing billion-dollar deals and these kids are not getting paid. Yeah, for real.
Starting point is 00:23:54 We didn't get paid. Yeah, yeah. Six billion-dollar deal I believe CBS got for NCAA, for college basketball. And none of these guys get paid. The O'Bannon brothers. NCAA for college basketball and none of these guys get paid. The O'Bannon brothers, they went back into the law school suit maybe 20 years after they stopped playing college basketball. Of course, they had all the images on the video game
Starting point is 00:24:18 and they won the lawsuit for like maybe 20, 30 million, but they had to pay all the college players. So everybody got like $3 or whatever it was. But I'm happy that these young guys are getting paid. And what happened is, yeah. And what happened is this. Look, the G League said, look, we're going to give high school players $500,000 maximum, you know, in ranges $100,000, $200,000, depending on how good you are, to come here and not go to college.
Starting point is 00:24:42 And now you have a head start to be in the NBA. That's why I can't watch. That's why I can't watch the NCAA's nobody's there. But but what nobody right? No, absolutely. But my point being is that's when the NCAA said damn, we're gonna lose people. Let's let them make money on the name and likeness.
Starting point is 00:25:00 So if somebody comes to sell their self and makes their money cool, they're still not breaking brain They're like if you go out We gonna keep this six billion, but if you go to make a dollar then cooling on taxes exactly So that's what I'm still like y'all stealing shit. So I support anybody who goes overseas Brandon Jennings did it? He wouldn't made one point four million dollars goes overseas. Brandon Jennings did it. He went and made $1.4 million before he went. And they penalized him for that.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Yeah. They held that in their back pocket like, when we get there, I'm going to remind him of what he did. Exactly. Because he opened the door for that. That's a fact. Yeah. He said that, like you said, he's one of the trailblazers
Starting point is 00:25:41 for that. I like the fact that they're going to the G League. NCAA, I guess it's fact that they're going to the g league ncaa i guess it's cool that you're letting make money but are you really helping them get money you still keeping it it's like it's like i'm giving you the work you go work and and get what you get but i'm still giving me what i'm saying you know who i trust if i was in the ncaa you're gonna help me get get money for me I trust Dion. I trust Dion. I trust Dion. Yo, listen, you come over here, I guarantee,
Starting point is 00:26:10 T, Walmart got something for you. All you got to do is do a couple appearances at Walmart, sponsor some water. Dion, we love you, Dion. We just telling the truth over here, Dion. Look, Dion said it. Dion said it when he was doing the interview with Kyler. He said, them boosters coming. Them boosters coming. They coming. Deion said it. Deion said it when he was doing the interview with Kyler. He said, them boosters coming.
Starting point is 00:26:25 The boosters coming. They coming. Yeah. They coming for us. So at the end of the day, certain coaches, when you get to the places in these NCAA schools,
Starting point is 00:26:35 whether it's, you know, big division one schools, they might guarantee you because you may say, for instance, the head coach of Texas may have a relationship
Starting point is 00:26:42 with the guy who owns the Lamborghini dealer in Texas. So he's like, look, I got this player coming from Nebraska, man, I need him. Look, I'll give you the $200,000. We're going to give him a Lamborghini, and he'll do a couple commercials for you. And that way, I'll tell him, look, you got $10,000 for the year
Starting point is 00:26:56 and a brand new car. You got a kid from Nebraska, and he's going to be like, yeah, that's good. You got to take that, man. You might take the Lambo with no money. With no money. So those are the games that's going to take that land. Yeah, yeah. You might take the land, but with no money. With no money. So those are the games that's going to be played
Starting point is 00:27:08 in the NCAA, but I don't think they're going to ever break the money that they're getting. So I applaud everybody else going to get the money that they're getting.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Yeah, they got to get their money. So real quick, just in general, do you think it's too much money for these players to have or do you think that it should be no limit?
Starting point is 00:27:21 They can get as much as they want. It should be no limit on my goal. It should be no limit. It should be no limit they can get as much as they want it should be no limit on my goal it should be no limit because while those kids are working hard they got their family they got to take up take care of you look at a lot of people that come to college they bring their family with them they have no money and this this takes all of the rules out of people getting um when they get um under probation and all that you don't have any of those under investigation
Starting point is 00:27:53 when they talk about why you got this car right right final fours banners being removed all right because the person that five five exactly yeah Yeah, yeah. UNLV. Yeah, exactly. Yep. You ain't got to shave points because you're getting money for playing. I wasn't disagreeing with you. What I was thinking about is
Starting point is 00:28:15 how, no, now basketball, you know, you got 12, maybe 13 players on the team. Football is 53 players on the team plus reserves or whatever. What I'm thinking about is... There's really eight players on the team football is 53 players on the team plus reserves or whatever what i'm thinking about is there's really eight people on the team well on the field it's 11 at the time but you know you got special teams you got defense you got offense but what i was going to say is it wasn't about how many people on the field it's more about you okay murder we go to same school yeah you we go to University of fucking Southern Cal, whatever.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I need my and I'll deal to be like five million. Yeah, but mine is 2000. And why are you pulling up? And I'm tough. And I'm with the Crips or the Bloods. That's probably how people get killed in college. This is the money. This is what this is. You know, it's new. So I wouldn it yeah people getting killed in college now this is the money this is what this is you know it's new so i wouldn't say people getting killed yet but
Starting point is 00:29:09 where are you gonna live at but that's the point because now the thing is this we go to southern cal you got five million i got fifteen hundred but i'm uh i'm i'm from uh i'm from uh nebraska no no i'm from uh i'm from watts watch you rolling yeah you from what from Watts. Watts. Rolling 60. Yeah, you from Watts. Yeah, I got rolling 60. I got Chris with me. I got Bloodsy. I got five million.
Starting point is 00:29:30 Yeah, you got five and I got two. And now, all of a sudden, the blue cars or the red cars is pulling up on campus. Yeah, that can get crazy because now I'm running in with the NOI. I got Nation of Islam with me. Right, exactly. Listen, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something, man. I'm going to be straight up honest with them. Right, exactly. Because, listen, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something, man. And I'm going to be straight up honest with you.
Starting point is 00:29:46 And, you know, you went to college and I went to college. After high school, we went to the same high school. But I'll tell you one thing. I went to school in Corsicana, Texas. And God bless the day my mom just passed away. R.P. to my mom and R.P. to my grandmother. And they were telling me shit was coming in the mail and shit wasn't coming, man.
Starting point is 00:30:04 And I'm like, niggas got shit in the mail and shit wasn't coming man I'm like got in the mail so I started pressing kids I started pressing not even basketball players I started pressing the week I started praying on praying yeah I started praying on the week man I'm being honest with you yeah I thought yeah so now when you go into your mailbox I'm on you what you got yo come on man let's go into your mailbox, I'm on you. What you got? Yo, come on, man. Let's go cash that. You was doing college-like commissary. Exactly. And I'm on a basketball team, full-time scholarship. You know, you're supposed to take your three meals a day,
Starting point is 00:30:32 go work out and be happy. So imagine if somebody got $5 million. That's the conversation I'm saying. And coming to college. Yes, this is why I said, how is it going to work because now you got enough money to the higher security yeah but now it's all awkward yeah you coming in that's why i said in a while you coming in with a bunch of security you got your shades on like you made it to the league that's what i said the guy yeah, absolutely. Yeah, he's got everybody with him.
Starting point is 00:31:05 Yeah. So it wasn't about not get as much as you can. It's just going to be a big disparity from the highest-paid player. If you're on a football team, from the first guy to 53rd person, from the first guy to 13th person on the basketball team, and that's something that we need to look out for as well. And in closing, they just thought that that would help people from not going to the league faster. Because if you can get the money, now what are you rushing for? Right.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Okay. Well, let us know in the comments what you guys think. We'll be right back. Thank you. like an option. Maybe I'm my own problem, babe. She's tired of hearing I don't know. What's happening to me won't fall. Dealing with this thing called trust. But she really thinking about it. She wanna be free. Why am I in this one? She wanna be free. Why am I in this one way free? Welcome back to It Is What It Is, so let's talk about football. Aaron Rodgers is still in talks with the New York Jets to be traded,
Starting point is 00:32:36 but he has a wish list of players he wants to be on the Jets too. This includes Odell Beckham Jr. and three former Packers teammates, Alan Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Mercedes Lewis. Alan already agreed to a four-year, $44 million deal with the Jets. What are your thoughts on this list, and would you like to see Aaron Rodgers on the Jets? I think Aaron Rodgers should get whatever he wants if he comes to the Jets. To be in New York City, he should have whatever he needs to make that team win. But I'm going to turn that over to Cam because I think
Starting point is 00:33:07 the list is ridiculous, but there ain't nothing I haven't seen before. Catch 22 with this situation for me. Aaron Rodgers, I think he's a great, if not the greatest,
Starting point is 00:33:25 it's debatable with Peyton Manning for regular season quarterback ever. My only problem with Aaron Rodgers is the playoffs and the Super Bowl wins, but it's very debatable as far as, I would say him and Peyton Manning, who's the best ever regular season quarterback. So I think he's probably, I think he got Peyton by a little bit. So I say he's the best. As far as him deserving his money, I think he deserves his money because the MVP is based upon who, which a regular season is.
Starting point is 00:33:57 I'm talking about league MVP. I thought you was tired of all of the things he's doing. You don't let me finish? You had your turn. You passed it over to me. You had a turn to do. If you want your turn back, I'll let you do, pause,
Starting point is 00:34:10 whatever you want to do. I'm not feeding into that. See, this is what you want to turn this whole show into. You had to go, bro. I was trying to get to what I had to get to. Pause. Everything would be paused. But I think that he's great as far as
Starting point is 00:34:26 regular season. My only beef with him is about playoffs and Super Bowls. With that being said, for the Jets, this is a good look because they have not won a Super Bowl since Joe Naiman. I think that was 1969, 1970
Starting point is 00:34:41 maybe. So my point being is, if you could get Aaron Rodgers with the Jets, that's great because... Yeah, anything you could do to get Aaron Rodgers with New York. Not even New York. He wanted to be flewed out. Yeah, the Jets specifically because the Giants are way ahead of the Jets. The Giants, we done seen them win Super Bowls.
Starting point is 00:35:04 At least they had Peyton Manning and brother Eli. You had Michael Strahan. You got victories over the New England Patriots during their dynasty. The Giants are way ahead of the Jets. But if he gets half of this list, don't you think he'll be better than the Giants? Because it makes no sense to come to New York to be the second best team. That's basically what it's saying. What I'm saying is this.
Starting point is 00:35:26 I'm not even talking about first or second. I think just having Aaron Rodgers for the Jets is a good look if they lose all 16 games because the Jets have been so bad for so long. Like, the Jets didn't make the playoffs this year, and everybody's like, oh, man. Ooh, he's right there. Like, that's how the feeling was in New York. Like that's why the Jets are making these moves
Starting point is 00:35:47 because it was a time they were in playoff contention. And then they just had a bad streak because of quarterback. They have a top 10 defense, if I'm not mistaken. Everybody loves the Jets defense. So now they're like, if we get Aaron Rodgers, we're going to be crazy. What you have to realize is this, the Jets are still in the AFC.
Starting point is 00:36:03 You know who's in the AFC? Patrick Mahomes is in the AFC Jets are still in the AFC. You know who's in the AFC? Patrick Mahomes is in the AFC. Josh Allen's in the AFC. Josh Allen's in the AFC. Josh Allen's in the AFC. I didn't have my team and I'm glad you brought that up. I'm glad you brought that up.
Starting point is 00:36:13 And if Lamar Jackson stays in Jacksonville, he's in the AFC. So it's not a cakewalk to go to a tour in the AFC. It's not a cakewalk. Joe to a tour in the AFC. It's not a cakewalk. Joe Burrows is in the AFC. So Aaron Rodgers is coming to a loaded, loaded conference as opposed to that. That's why he needs his wish list. But what I'm saying is this. He ain't been getting it done in the NFC.
Starting point is 00:36:38 And the NFC is way easier than the AFC. So I'm not saying he doesn't need the wish list. It's just more about you've been with some of these players for 10 years that haven't got it done. It's just gonna change it I don't think so But for the Jets you're desperate to get Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform a green and white uniform Doesn't even matter about winning. It's about yeah, we got Aaron Rodgers nigga because look if he get Beckham and two of those Look this is the same thing at the same age, you know, you know, you know who left Green Bay and not they didn't go Straight to the Jets, but they end up being with the Jets
Starting point is 00:37:20 Brett Favre Did it matter? Did it change anything? He left Green Bay, went to Minnesota, ended up with the Jets. And the Jets was the worst decision he made. He had some success in Minnesota with the Vikings. When I say he went from the Packers to Green Bay,
Starting point is 00:37:37 he went from the Packers to the Vikings, pardon me. And he stunk it up with the Jets. But I just think that the Jets are so desperate that they'll take anything that they can get as far as having a high-quality player such as Aaron Rodgers. To make a long story short, I don't really care too much. I just was looking at both sides of the coin, but I don't really give a fuck.
Starting point is 00:37:59 The list is wild. Now, back to how I really feel. Cam, I was given a perspective from a sports analyst. Me, hey, Ross, you bugged the fuck out, my nigga. You go sit in the dark for four days. You said you going in a cave for four days. You come out this cave like, yo, I got a recollection. If I fuck with the Jets, it's gonna be crazy.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Because one of his old coaches is with the Jets. I forget from which, one of his old coaches, could you look it up? Let me get your, one of his? You ain't low, nigga. You ain't low. We know what's going on. One of your old coaches is with the Jets.
Starting point is 00:38:31 You know them niggas is desperate. They gonna trade whatever to get you. I don't know what epiphany you had in that little motherfucking dark day and night shit.
Starting point is 00:38:40 He won a super team. That's what most athletes want right now. They want a super team. I'm not knocking it murder, but the thing about it, you ain't LeBron. LeBron know how to put them joints together. You want to be the GM, call LeBron. You can't go in the dark.
Starting point is 00:38:54 You got to go to Vegas, Aaron Rodgers. There you go. You got to invite them to Cabo, Dior. Right. Come on. You know LeBron is a great recruiter he recruits he sells it he gets you there same way i think draymond was a great recruiter with kevin durant he got him over there and kd's my man too and i'm not talking about but what i'm saying is you gotta have that
Starting point is 00:39:19 that that camaraderie to be like yo you my man i don't come with you we were just talking about this when sorry to jump from football to basketball, we was just saying, when you have a recruiting game, you gotta be good. Damian Lillard can't get a motherfucker in Portland. He got 500 million. He's Portland, though. But that's the point. And no, just shout out to everybody in Portland.
Starting point is 00:39:37 That's what makes New York Jets really good, because people want to live in New York. Absolutely. The city's dope, but that's what Aaron Rodgers is selling. He's selling New York. Yeah. You can't sell Green Bay to snow up to your waist. Nobody's coming to see that.
Starting point is 00:39:56 To go back to what you said real quick, so the Jets did hire Aaron Rodgers' former offensive coordinator. So they got his OC. Now he's trying to get Odell Beckham and Packers player. So and Odell used to play the Giants. So he can't wait to win against them. More of the story is Odell. That's how you see. That's how you get Odell. You know, the neighborhood they play in the same stadium. You know, you want to get your lick back.
Starting point is 00:40:21 I know you want to get your lick back. Hey, yo, it's over. Yo, nah. Nah. Nah. Nah. Nah. Nah. Nah.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Nah. Yo. My bad. My bad, Steph, baby. Yo! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! My bad. My bad, Steph, baby. Go ahead, Stephie. He's being childish today, Stephie. We can't grow up because of this. We can't grow up because of this.
Starting point is 00:41:00 We're trying to do our own deal. It is what it is. It is what it is. It is what it is. Oh! See what I did there. Yeah. Yo. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:41:10 All right. I'm good. On that note, we'll see what happens. We'll be right back. She called this thing about toxic Four years and counting Got you feeling like an option Maybe I'm my own problem, babe She tired of hearing, I don't know
Starting point is 00:41:52 What's happening, me won't fall Dealing with this thing called trust But she really thinking about it She wanna be free Why am I in this one way? She really thinking about it. She wanna be free. Why am I in this for you? She wanna be free. Hell, I don't wanna see her walk away. I wish somebody told me the rules.
Starting point is 00:42:19 Disagreements let her win. Then it's cool. Even when I'm right, this ain't about you. So we spoke about John Morant and we talked about Marcus Smart, but everyone in the NBA is talking about Victor Wembyn-Yama. He's a 7'2", 230-pound player who is now playing for the Metropolitans. What type of player do you think he'll be and what team do you think will start looking at him? I mean, it ain't about what team's think will start looking at him? I mean it ain't about what team's gonna start looking at him.
Starting point is 00:42:46 First of all what I think is, from his skill set, I haven't seen the whole game. From the highlights I've seen his skill set, he has a guard skill set of 7'2". That's a no brainer. Yeah, I've seen LeBron say that they always call people unicorns, then this guy must be an alien because he's out of this world. But 7-2, guard, credentials, so to speak, shoot, handle, pull up.
Starting point is 00:43:15 I don't ever see him on the post, but he's got like a smooth Kevin Durant. It's dangerous. It could be really dangerous as far as teams looking at him. Whoever's the worst team in the NBA, whoever wins the lottery is going to get him. I'm praying that the Spurs,
Starting point is 00:43:29 we just start tanking so we could try and win, but we ought to realize and not realize is pay attention to a lot of these players this tall always seem to get hurt. Their feet go out. Always the foot.
Starting point is 00:43:46 It's like my man Chez over there with OKC. You know how good OKC would be right now with Shy and Chez? Man, he would be good. He was number one pick. Was he number one last year or number two? I think he was two. OK, yeah. What if they end up with him as well?
Starting point is 00:44:01 That's what I'm telling you. That would be crazy. That would be wow. That would be real. Victor with Ched. Right. Victor, Chet, Josh Giddy. Right. Like that would be crazy. I think I'm not the so the answer to your question, teams looking at him, it's really about who gets the first pick. I don't know if teams are gonna start tanking to try and get a better lottery pick but I think he could be sensational. I haven't seen him
Starting point is 00:44:24 play like I said a full game but i have to check him out and see some of his g league stuff before i can make an opinion what do you think i think golden state should tank and get him what is your mind what the are you talking about man i think yeah what the are you talking about why would you bring me on here to ask me what i think and then get mad at what i think what the are you talking about that's what i think i think the whole thing with draymond and then what he doesn't want to see them together for a fight so they could get him out and get victor yo they in the fifth seed right now and it's only like 11 games or some left what you mean tank they so lose all 11. yeah you out your
Starting point is 00:45:00 mind man golden state ain't you wouldn't lose all I'm Golden State. I'm the defending champs. Like, I'm Steph Curry. I'm Steph Curry, my nigga. Like, they would never tank. Now you're bugging. Now you're just saying anything at this point now. Now we just wildin' murder. Come on, tank.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Golden State tank? What happened, though, one year they had a good... What I do think Golden State should have did one year, and not to go off topic of Victor anything they had the number two pick they had to trade it for it and they had the number two pick and they ended up picking Wiseman and now Wiseman just being the G League or type of where's Wiseman they could have got Lonzo and that three guy offense would have been crazy yeah pardon me not Lonzo mellow I apologize but they could have got mellow and that three-yard offense would have been crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Would have been great on that. Yeah. Pardon me.
Starting point is 00:45:45 Not Lonzo. Fucking Melo. I apologize, but they could have got Melo and that would have fucking been wow. Because even they could have ran a four guard offense with Jordan Poole. That would have been just ridiculous. They would have been undersized, but it would have been crazy.
Starting point is 00:45:59 But far as this far as Victor's concerned, I can't wait to see. I can't wait to see what happens. What team though? So you were saying Golden State. It most likely can be the spurs or the rockets there we go rockets have the worst record the rockets aren't doing too well yeah he's gonna trade a few players on golden state people i'm sticking with what i'm sticking with nobody's gonna trade for him they're gonna at least see what he could do they're do. There's nobody you can get unless you really just want, like... I can't even think of nobody in the NBA right now
Starting point is 00:46:31 that they would trade for him, because there's no player like this. If Victor were to fall, you know, the Magic could be an option, too. And I know they were saying in 2024, Bronny could potentially be the first pick for the Orlando Magic. Do you see that being a matchup, or you guys don't think that should work? We know how he feel about Bronny could potentially be the first pick for the Orlando Magic. Did you see that being a matchup or you guys don't think
Starting point is 00:46:46 that should work? You know how he feel about Bronny already. You ain't got to ask him. You ain't got to ask him how he feel about Bronny. I think the kid is good. Is he a potential
Starting point is 00:46:58 number one pick though? Number one pick? Yeah. You're setting me up. I'm asking you like father like son. I'm just asking. What do you think yeah you set me up i'm asking you like father like son i'm just asking you think you set me up they said he was top 10 but in the last game of the season he scored 10 points so i'm gonna break some confidentiality here murder text me murder text me with brawny's last game as a senior.
Starting point is 00:47:28 He said, how was he supposed to be the man and all he had was 10 points. Texas. Who is this kid? Text me the text me a 10 point. He said, I would never go out like that. If I'm going to be bronze son, I have 10 points. My last game. Hey, gonna motivate them hey i'm just telling you to be great yep so uh i don't know man i think we got to see what these kids do i'm talking about brawny and mikey and everybody else going in to college next year to see what number brawny comes out as
Starting point is 00:48:00 and look i'm not even sugar-coated i don't know how good Bronny's gonna be in college or not, but I will say this, and I don't give a fuck. And fuck that, LeBron. Use your leverage to get your son in the NBA. Yeah. He should. Yeah, I would. He should. I would do the same thing. I would do the same fucking thing.
Starting point is 00:48:18 I'm using all my power to get my son in the NBA because it hasn't been done yet. Last time we seen some shit like this, it was Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. playing at the same time. Set that motherfucker off. Use your power. Get your son in the NBA and say,
Starting point is 00:48:36 now who else could do that? I can go with that. Cameron, look at me. LeBron, I get it. I get it. Why not? Yeah. Why not yeah why not why not it and he'll end up being good because of that i hope i hope he does do that i'm rooting for him man you know i root for them ohio kids yo columbus what's up akron what's up cincinnati dayton Springfield huh I'll happy Midwest love y'all okay and we'll be right back Uh-oh. Y'all ready? Yeah. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:49:41 Welcome back to It Is What It Is. We're going to do a quick speed round with you guys' questions. Are you guys ready? Okay. First one from at Ross Stone 159. Who is the best player of all time? Ross Stone. What up? That's my boy from the Bronx. What's good? My best player all time. Michael Jordan. That's just that. Michael Jordan. A big honorable mention for
Starting point is 00:50:00 me. Bill Russell. I've never seen him play, but his accolades are crazy. But Michael Jordan, then I'm gonna go Bill Russell, even though I've never seen him play, but his accolades are crazy. But Michael Jordan, then I'm going to go Bill Russell, even though I've never seen him play. At T-Tills wants to know, is Russell Westbrook a top five point guard of all time? No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Okay. At Has Liz asked, who's the best in the league now? Kevin Durant went healthy. Kevin Durant. Giannis. Oh, good one. Okay. At 87182NYC says, can John Morant bounce back from his situation? John Morant is not really in any basketball problems. His problems are outside of basketball. So I have no question once he gets back on the basketball court, he's going right back to killing niggas.
Starting point is 00:50:50 He might even go crazier since he had to wait. That's what he's going to have to do. Take my advice, John. John, I'm always right. Just go crazier. They'll forget about it. I'm going to keep it honest with you, man. That's what Kobe had to do that year.
Starting point is 00:51:05 God bless his dad. Kobe came back from Denver and lost. Yeah, that year they tried to accuse him of that bullshit in Denver. That's the year he scored 81 and all that wild shit. When you go through controversy and you keep busting niggas' ass and winning, they kind of get swept under the rug. That's what the kid did in Alabama. He came back from the court case and scored a career-high 41.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Now they talking about you backing the lottery. Mm-hmm. Okay. At MSK Monet says, If the Jets get Aaron and his wish list, will the Jets win the AFC East next year? I don't got them winning the AFC East, but they'll probably get to the AFC.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Winning the division? get to the UFC? Winning the division? I don't know about winning the division. I'll say they have a better chance with that team than they got this year. That's all we have for today. But before we go, Cam has something special for all of y'all. Yes.
Starting point is 00:52:06 Listen, back in November, me, my man, Jadakiss, and my partner, Mace Murder, we did a song, GLM. I never put the video out. I was being selfish, keeping it for myself. I'm going to put me out right now. GLM featuring Jadakiss, my man, Mace Murder, and we're going on tour this summer. Be careful for that, too. Sign off. It is what it is. uh-oh y'all ready yeah here we go reckless i snatch you right out your lexus i'm moving blocks like it's tetris a hundred thousand by breakfast praying the Lord protect us.
Starting point is 00:52:46 God bless us. We make a profit, the coppers, they want to stop it. The DA, he trying to knock it. He passing the judge to docus. Surveillance, they show me copping. Then pulling off in a rocket, smiling. Think they got it to sell, they will not just lock it. The case, they should have just dropped it.
Starting point is 00:53:03 The jewelry all in my pocket, baby. Bogart like Humphrey. In New York, I'm a monster. In Malibu, I be comfy. I be finding it funny the way I'm doing these dummies. Cause I was moving like Bumpy when y'all was doing the Humkey. SUV for the speed bumps. Champagne for the days that I didn't wish free lunch.
Starting point is 00:53:25 When I wore an outfit, took it back, got a refund. Now what's happening? Yeah, bitch, rerun. It's me, boo. Yeah, don't let these niggas get the best of you. I need every penny, so I'm bagging up the residue. Tell them no, then they gonna get quiet and think less of you. But I was rolling loud way before there was a festival. Don't overreact. That's them broke niggas testing you they don't even ask how many with us
