Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome back to It Is What It is. I'm your guest host, Trista Crick. I'm here with, of course, our analyst, Mace, and Cam. But we have a stack show today. Yes, we do. Starting off, we have WWE Superstar main event, four letters, one word, yeet, J. Uso. And later after the break, we'll be chatting with Starboxer David Benavides.
Starting point is 00:00:54 What's up? What's up, man. What's up? What's good with you? What's up, man? How you doing? You guys? Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Yeah, man. Yeah, man. Yeah, y'all are right? Yeah, everything good, man. Man, what up? No, I'm just excited to have you here, man. I was happy to come in here, too, man. Y'all, y'all, y'all, y'all good?
Starting point is 00:01:13 Yeah, y'all, y'all. Yeah, mate, you want to start up? Are you good? What are you? Yeah, man. Feel something, feel something over here. No, no, no, we good. We're good, man.
Starting point is 00:01:22 It's like tense. Yep. So let's start off, man. How did you start into wrestling? We know you come from a wrestling family. What made you want to do it? Real, real answer? Yes, sir.
Starting point is 00:01:35 Man, I have my son young who's 20 years old, you know? Right. Went to my father. I knew, you know, better life type. Went to my dad. Dad, can I get into business? Dad's like, sure. took us to a ringoes
Starting point is 00:01:54 you know beat the hell out of me and my brother y'all still want to do it took off from near man just went to booker school to train and that's where that's where it really really popped off right when you started as you know we know you have multiple tag team champions
Starting point is 00:02:11 championships that is what made you say okay it's my time to go solo I did an tag team thing I want to be world um WWE champion.
Starting point is 00:02:24 What made you make that maneuver? Yeah, Cam, I think the goal in wrestling is everyone wants to become world heavyweight champ, right? Right. You know, when they put that thing on you, they're running with you. You're the number one guy. You're the top guy in the game. That's the ultimate goal, loose. And as far as me coming from like tag team and then trying to do the singles run,
Starting point is 00:02:46 let alone being a twin, Us. So, like, how to double down on it, man. Right. A hell of a journey, though. It was but like every single, every single wrestler wants to hold the top championship, at least once in their career. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Did your brother feel like you left him to do that? Was it felt betrayal or he was supporting it? No, it was straight up support, man. Right. Man, that's Big Jim. Shout out of the Big Jim, man. That's my twin brother, man. I'm having the most fun now with him, though,
Starting point is 00:03:17 at this point of my career, for sure. Right. I heard a story, low-key, low-ber. already told me that your brother Jim stole your camera on outfit for you from you. Yeah, so this is what happened. You know, y'all ain't that much older than me. So, you know, who came out with the pink, you know? That's when the tall tees came out.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Yeah. I bought a couple pink shirts, you know, ironed them, wash them. Ready, you know, I had to fold it, you know, ready to rock it to school the next day. And my brother, my brother has it on, right? And at this point, we was putting it under the mattress. You know, I didn't iron my clothes like that. I was still putting it under the mattress. Right.
Starting point is 00:03:57 If you know, you know, but, you know, me and, you know, have my pink tall tony on us. Got the wrapping, got the boxing in front of my mom. That's what happened, though. Right, you were the first, you know. I appreciate that. That's what's something. I do appreciate that, man.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Do you feel like you have the aura that everybody says you have? Because you were 2025 aura of the year. You think that's like a. a valid champion shit? You do. Have you seen the arenas?
Starting point is 00:04:27 Have I seen what? Have you seen the arenas when I come out? Oh, I've seen the arenas. Yeah. Oh. I don't think nobody in WWE has that right now. How do that? I don't think they got that crowd participation
Starting point is 00:04:38 the way I do. I don't, they don't. They might call me an entrance, but man, I worked hard to even get to that level of having all that, if that makes sense. But I'll, I love it, man. As long as my kids are with me. And I mean the, you know, just the kids out there,
Starting point is 00:04:59 that that's what it's all about. How did you develop that? Like, because that fandom is, is, like, really, really difficult to cultivate out of nowhere. Yeah. It took steps. You know, it took, it was like, I was at the, I was at the drawing board every night. And then let alone, I was by myself. So I was always with my brother. gym all my whole career and then i split traveling by myself taking plane rides by myself like training by myself uh it's so it was just stages and then the the the the this came they they started viving with this the the the the ye is it like a that's like a bay area word from back in the day it was really ye like no tea but i just ran with it uh focus on the kids for sure man bright color
Starting point is 00:05:50 colors, you know, you got to look, look like somewhat of a superhero. What made you guys change from the colors to going black? How do you explain that? Yeah, because we're like, you got to evolve, right? Mays, a good guy, bad guy. Yeah. We stole the whole color thing from Ultimate Warrior because that's me and my brother's favorite wrestler growing up.
Starting point is 00:06:15 So we just took all that, all the colors, everything. And then as soon as I started kind of feeling stale a little, got a pivot, so, man, let's go dark. You know, no one was wearing black, like Air Force One's. Yeah. It all worked. So with your family being, like, wrestling, royalty and Samoa,
Starting point is 00:06:36 what made you like, where you think you ranking it? Man. Good question. Man, there's so many heavy hitters in my family, man. Yeah. Like, my dad, you know, Yoko Zuna. Umaga rock. I...
Starting point is 00:06:51 I wouldn't say I'm above, like, uh, you know, the Roman reigns. Yeah, because you knew not, well... Yeah. My bad. Yeah. That's why I asked the question. Yeah. Where do you think you rank?
Starting point is 00:07:04 Just where do you think you rank? You think you above the rock? We ain't got time for no lies, Ouse. Nah, nah. He's box office draw. Roman Raines, new street fighter coming out. So I would say no. As far as wrestling, yeah, I feel like I'm up there with him,
Starting point is 00:07:27 but I got a lot to grow, man. So. This is not the show for this, you know. This is not the show. Yeah, Moose. Look, anybody ever tried you in public? Like how? Like the scenes you and tried you in public?
Starting point is 00:07:51 Yeah, they have, Moose. Yeah? How'd it go. You good? Yeah. Let's go. Let's get the WrestleMania, because I'm... Yeah, I'm excited. WrestleMania is here in Las Vegas.
Starting point is 00:08:07 It's going to be super exciting. You've got a big match coming up. Let's talk about the match. Let's talk about how it all went down. Like, what you're most excited about? Man, I don't know. I got Logan Paul. I show speed of my match.
Starting point is 00:08:20 They're outsiders. I got respect for Logan Paul. You know, he earned the stripes with us, but, yeah, they're coming into my office now. We're going to body them in front of, I don't know, 80,000, 100,000 people on Saturday. And then I'm going to do my job and I'm going to get some Hawaiian barbecue. What did you think about these YouTubers coming into your space?
Starting point is 00:08:41 They can get slapped too. Yeah. Yeah, you want to try? You talking to me? I'm like, oh. Listen, um, I don't know what to do. Yeah, now that's all good because, um, let me ask you this. Because I don't know where we're going with this, but let me just stick to the script.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Yeah, the energy. Yeah, the energy. He's kind of off. But, um, you, when you see, did you, did you feel like, damn, listen, do you want me on the show or what? You hear, right? Let's stick to the script real quick. When you're seeing yourself on 2K, how do you feel about that for the first time seeing yourself in a video game? I ain't got to create myself.
Starting point is 00:09:22 I bet you do, though. That's the difference. It was, I could, I could pick mine now. It's fun, though. I ain't got to go and create a player, you know, I'm on there. I'm on here I'm happy about that you prefer
Starting point is 00:09:37 fighting by yourself or tag team what's your preference I said it was like I like the singles I ran that if I could pick I'd probably be with my brother
Starting point is 00:09:51 yeah I bet it would you wouldn't want to be by yourself I get it I totally understand that y'all got anything else to say because I don't smell what the oost is cooking he's not his father
Starting point is 00:10:03 we know what's going to happen in WrestleMania now you want to dispeed in Logan Paul they're in there you all right because I really don't have nothing else to say to him and you're looking at me like it's a problem I can go any more questions this
Starting point is 00:10:18 yeah no aren't you a big Cameron fan like you're a fan of Cameron right like you're a fan of his music and Mace and like Joe Jones is number one whole time anyway you know what I'm saying well where you rank yourself Us
Starting point is 00:10:30 you have You had to pink teeth. You had the pink tall teeth. That was what you was when. Your brother took it from you. So he already let me know your character. He already ain't respect you. And the house, they ain't respect you.
Starting point is 00:10:43 He's for real? You coming off with a little disrespectful. No, I think you coming off a little disrespectful in my house a little bit. That's what it seemed like to be there. What's up? Like, just be respectful. Just keep it on me.
Starting point is 00:11:02 You ain't got to talk about it. My family. No, no, I have much love for your family. I think your family is wrestling royalty. When you say you wrestle as good as the rock, I got a problem with that. I just can't respect it. Can't respect it.
Starting point is 00:11:16 But you prefer to fight tag team. So. Not by yourself. Yeah, not by yourself. There's a good thing. Collaboration. Collaboration's all good. Like, if you...
Starting point is 00:11:28 Man, oh my man. I do feel uneasy right now. I feel uneasy as well Yeah, me too You want to feel easy, pause? Bro, what's up? I want to be here I don't want to cut it short or whatever
Starting point is 00:11:45 I'm trying to... What are you playing for WrestleMania this Sunday? What's the outcome going to be? I'm on Saturday, who's... Pardon me, pardon me, Saturday. Yeah, damn, Uso's up. I'm up.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Somebody's going to get their ass with those. We had this last year, Right, if I'm not mistaken, Mace. Main event Saturday or Sunday? Sunday. That's how it still is? Or no? Wait, say it again, sorry.
Starting point is 00:12:16 The main event is still on Sunday or is not... The main event Sunday. Got it. You're going to watch those? Sunday. Definitely Sunday. I'm a main event type nigga. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:12:35 What do you predict for the outcome? coming this weekend. You were a linebacker, right, in college? Yes, ma'am. Yeah, like, is that how you develop the spear move that you do? Man, I just, I just be, that's from throwing up, bust him up days, right? Like, that's in the backyard. Half that stuff is what we do.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Grow up putting breaking coffee tables, didn't even know, man, holes in the wall. It just is what it is, man. I grew up in a house for four boys. You know? You got brothers those? You know, like you grew up with some sisters. I'm my only child. What a pink one.
Starting point is 00:13:15 I do my dirt by my lonely. I ain't got a tag team partner. World champion, Dola, or my hut. What do you think about my father? Great. Legend, all time. Top of the line, bro. I just was wondering what happened after.
Starting point is 00:13:34 What do you mean? He's there. Rock, the whole family. The whole family's great. Then we got ooh shit I'm like, what happened? What happened to you? I'm out.
Starting point is 00:13:55 You out where? I'm out, loose. You're being real disrespectful, bro. I don't know if you're reading a lot of that social media shit, all the likes, dislikes, all that, ooze. But you, like, you rubbed me the wrong way a little bit, Us. I didn't expect this.
Starting point is 00:14:11 I'm a huge fan. Yeah. Sorry. Okay, so when they come to WrestleMania, right? I remember watching WrestleMania growing up. What's going to be so spectacular about you being at the, at WrestleMania? Man, Mays, I'm about to have $100,000 in the palm of my hand, dude, like eating out the palm of my hand.
Starting point is 00:14:33 It'll be dopeos. I got, I got YouTubers in my match. I ain't even worried about none of that. Cut this paycheck, goose. Hang out with my family, though. Well, listen, Mace, I'm, I'm extremely. I don't actually don't have any more questions. Nick, I'm more mad at you
Starting point is 00:14:50 because you keep bringing Saturday WrestleMania niggas here and you don't bring us a Sunday restaurant. Say less, Cam, I ain't got to be here. I ain't got to be here. You need a Sunday wrestling, bro. I don't smell with the Usts is cooking.
Starting point is 00:15:04 And at the end... Hey, get the... You, place the man. You, go. Go, fuck it. Come on. Hey, Jay. He's me.
Starting point is 00:15:15 We don't. We don't. We don't. We're true. We don't. He trip. He trip. He trip.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Welcome back to It Is What It Is. This is a really fascinating first segment to the show. Where was you at, bro? I came over there. All right. I ain't say you done, bro. I just, my bad. He did come over there.
Starting point is 00:15:51 He also called security. I was the one that grabbed him. All right, my bad. I was the one that grabbed him. That's why I still love you. I'm just tired. I ain't seen nobody. You know when you don't see nobody.
Starting point is 00:16:01 I couldn't see when nobody was, you know, how you're looking for somebody to blame. Yeah. Yeah, man. He kind of got you good. We'll get into it afterwards, man. We got a world champion in the building right now. Oh, yeah, this is a big one.
Starting point is 00:16:18 We have a stacked show, 31 and O. David Benavides, huge fight coming up on the weekend of Cinco to Mayo. What's up? Yeah, I just want to thank you guys for inviting me. You know, it was an interesting way to come into a podcast and never came in like that, but I'm glad you're okay. Yeah, yeah, I might have needed you in here with me, man. Your man was in here with me, man.
Starting point is 00:16:40 I don't know, to be honest with you, I need to see the tape because I don't know where anybody was at, to be totally honest with you. Listen, huge fight coming up. Single DiMaio weekend, before we even get to the fight, you made some headlines this week. What is going on with the beef with you and Oscar?
Starting point is 00:17:01 like with Canello and everything. What's going on? Or me and Oscar don't have no beef. I think the beef is just, it's not really a beef. It's not really a beef. I've been calling Canello out for a long time. I've been saying that, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:14 this fight we deserve to get the fans, this type of fight. I agree. To be honest with y'all know how often you watch the show, this is, every time it's a fight going on, even if you're not fighting, we talk about you fighting Canello probably for the last two years, maybe.
Starting point is 00:17:30 We talked about it seven times, eight times in the last two years. That's crazy. I was going to say seven times. Yeah, exactly about seven times. Why do you think Canello is ducking you? Scared. There's no balls. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:17:43 You know, at the end of the day, I gave Canello all the respect. He's done everything he's done. But at the end of the day, I was the number one contender in two-weight classes for a long, long time. Right. You know what I mean? He has showed that he doesn't want to fight me. So, you know, I moved on past that.
Starting point is 00:17:57 You know, I went up. I got a belt, light heavyweight. Right. I'm going up another weight class, cruiserweight, and I'm going to fight for two more titles in this weight class. But, you know, it's really a shame because this is a fight everybody wants to see. Absolutely. You know, this is a fight that the fans deserve, and I believe in myself, my skills 100%,
Starting point is 00:18:14 so I feel like if he says he's a baddest man on the planet, he's a legend in his own right, then why not give the fans what they want to see? It makes sense in every aspect of the game. People want to see it. It will sell a lot of tickets. It would be a hell of a fight, and we all win. Right. Do you think him losing the bud took something away from that
Starting point is 00:18:33 with him possibly fighting you? Would you want to have been the first person to expose him kind of the way Bud did? Do you think a little luster has taken away from a fight between you and him after him fighting Bud? I think it does, but at the end of the day, you know, people forget. You know, people still want to see this fight. He's still in good enough shape where he didn't get knocked out. You know, Bud beat the shit out of him, but he didn't get knocked out.
Starting point is 00:18:56 So in my opinion, if I'm talking about fans from a stand. fan standpoint, I would want to watch the fight, you know, and I don't think it takes any steam out of the fight. You know, I think it's still the biggest fight in the world. And I think, you know, it's still a great fight. I think that definitely took a lot away from his confidence. But other than that, you know, I think it's still a fight. Fans would love to see and hopefully we get in the future one day. Right. You and Morrell, y'all had a really good fight. Did that fight go the way you expected it to go? And did he have the punch of power that you really expected because that was a really good fight. Yeah, definitely. You know, and that's why I wanted to
Starting point is 00:19:30 go out there and take Morel out because I knew he was a dangerous fighter. You know, I fought him in his prime. There's not too much fighters now. They're fighting other fighters in their prime. True. I think he was like 27. I think I was 28. Right. So everything, everything that happened in that fight is what I expected. You know what I mean? At the end of day, when you call out another great fighter, there's going to be some hard shots, it's going to be landing on both sides. Right. You know, he threw his stuff. You know, I took it like a champ. You know, I threw my stuff. He took it like a champ. We had a great fight, and the fans won at the end of the day. That's what so.
Starting point is 00:19:58 That was good. I was thinking, for the most part, the thing with Terrence Crawford, that's different between you and Terrence, that you, Terrence just beat him up, but you, I believe you would stop him. I think that's the reason why he never took the fight. I mean, there's several weight classes he could have fought you in, and he ducked every time. And one time I was watching, and he said, it's because you was disrespectful. What did you do that was disrespectful, that he said, this is the reason you're
Starting point is 00:20:25 not getting the fight. This guy I've been talking shit, but like at the end of the day, bro, you know, boxing, you get the respect after. I mean, if anything, that's what you want, that builds up a fight, right? He's the money, man. He wants a lot of money for each pay-per-view fight. You know, he's getting a lot of money. He made 100, well, 150 mil his last fight. You know what I mean? So at the end of the day, you need a storyline. You need two fighters don't like each other that talk stuff to each other to make the fight even bigger. Just like all me and morale did. You know what I mean? It was a great fight. It was a great buildup, but we show respect after.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Right. But, I mean, but that stuff just sounds really corner to me. How are you going to say, I'm not going to fight you because you're being disrespectful. Yeah, it seemed like Turkey is the only one that could get that fight. Are you interested in working with Turkey to get it? So there was a, I worked with Turkey already for my last fight when I fought in Saudi Arabia. And it was funny because I just recently seen Turkey at Ryan Garcia's fight. And he told me that we're going to do big things in the future.
Starting point is 00:21:19 And I told him, like, what happened with that fight with Canelo-Avarez? I have it on my YouTube, on my Instagram. So you guys want to see you later. I told him, and he told me, he's like, you know what, bro, there's some things we can't make happen. There's some things that I can't make happen. He was talking about himself, Turkey, Alashique. So, you know what I mean? I'm going to keep trying to make this fight happen.
Starting point is 00:21:35 You know what I mean? I'm going to keep pressing them. I'm going to keep doing what I got to do. But at the end of the day, we'll see, you know what I mean? Like I said, it's going to be a shame if we leave this fight on the table because this is a great fight for boxing. This is a great fight for the history of boxing. So hopefully one day we get that, we get that.
Starting point is 00:21:49 We see what you told Shakur he needs to move up and wait. He actually responded to you and said that you. need to move up and fight you sick. Not looking past your fight coming up, but is that something you would do? Yeah, definitely. And, you know, I didn't, with the thing about me and Shakur,
Starting point is 00:22:05 I have a lot of respect for Shakur. He's a great fighter, but when he was doing, he was calling Ryan Garcia out at 144. You know what I mean? The weight limit is 147. That's only three pounds, you know what I mean? But I respect his decision
Starting point is 00:22:17 if you felt like that. And one day, hopefully I would, you know, like I said, I'm going up to Cruzeaway. Maybe one day we can get a fight with Ussick, and I love that, and I'd definitely be up for that task. Well, that's what's up. What do you expect with the fight coming up, uh, this Cinco de Maia weekend with Zorda?
Starting point is 00:22:33 Yeah, so I'm, I'm expecting the war. The thing about this fight is, he's a tough fighter. He's a tough fighter. I used to spar him when I was younger, you know what I mean? I sparred him. I got him ready. I sparred him since I was 17, all the way until 23, so I sparred hundreds around with this guy. And the reason why I moved up in weight class so fast because I always told my people, I'm like, if we get a chance with Sura Ramirez, if we get an opportunity to fight him, I'm going to jump up and fight him immediately. And, you know, my last fight was a light, light heavyweight.
Starting point is 00:23:00 And I was talking with Oscar Delahoya, and he said that there's an opportunity to make this fight happen. So we jumped on it. But Sour de Ramirez is a great fighter. He was a champion. He has two belts right now. He has great technique. He has great footwork.
Starting point is 00:23:12 He has great, he has good power. You know what I mean? So he's a dangerous fighter. You know, this fight for me, this is probably the hardest fight on the table for me. But at the end of the day, bro, it's about risk. You know what I mean? I want to be a legend in my own. So by the time, my time is set and done,
Starting point is 00:23:27 I'm going to be, I want to be one of the greatest boxers of all time. And you don't do that without taking the risk. So this is a big risk, but it's a big reward as well. Like, so in this game of mind, you talked about sparring. You were 15, you spar with Triple G? Yeah, spar with Triple G. What was that like? And what did you learn from sparring with him at such a young age?
Starting point is 00:23:43 Yeah, so Triple G, you know what I mean? When I first sparred him, it was a great experience. He, I always say that he gave, not he didn't give me the skills. but with being in the ring with a fighter like that, it wasn't a sparring session. This was a fighter. These were two great fighters trying to knock each other out. And with that being said,
Starting point is 00:24:04 this man had, he hit extremely hard. He had good patience, good defense. He had everything. So for me, to not get knocked out, I had to bring the best out of me. And for me doing that, you know, I was getting the better of him. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:24:17 There was a lot of sparring sessions we had that were, you know, championship level sparring sessions. And I sparred him all the way until I was like 20 years old. So we had a lot of great sparring sessions. He taught me a lot of stuff. And, you know, that man is, you know, he's a great man all around. You know what I'm?
Starting point is 00:24:32 He's a teacher. He's a good friend and good mentor as well. And, you know, and he helped me learn a lot of stuff in the sport of boxing. When you, I read something when you was young, you was around over, over like 240. How did you decide to fight at the weight that you're at now if you were over 240 at 13 years? Yeah. So the story was, I was 250 pounds. I had been boxing since I was two years old.
Starting point is 00:24:57 But my mother and my father, they divorced when I was seven years old. So I was going back and forth, back and forth in Phoenix, Arizona. My brother right there, Jose Benavides, he was getting ready to go pro. He's the top amateur in Phoenix, Arizona. Best ever come out of Phoenix, Arizona. He, him and my dad, they went to Los Angeles, California, train with Freddie Roach. So at this time, I'm like, I'm not going over there. I'm staying back over here.
Starting point is 00:25:21 and I'm not doing nothing. I'm just going to school. I'm being a kid, you know what I mean? That was the first time of my life. I didn't have to train. I think I was 11. So I had a big eating habit. I was already like 160, 170.
Starting point is 00:25:32 You know what I mean? And then I just, you know, McDonald's, Maruchanas, Taco Bell, all that stuff that's bad for you. I would eat like five times a day, nothing but junk. Right. So I was in seventh grade, and one day I came,
Starting point is 00:25:46 I think it was like a year of me eating like that. And I walked in the bathroom and I couldn't recognize myself. My face was like this. And I had got extremely scared because I'm like, that's at the time when like my 400 or 500 pound life came out. It's a down thing. I'm like, damn. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:01 This, my life could go in two directions. It could either, I could say, I'm not, I don't care about it. I'm going to just let my life be what it is. And I'm going to end up like that. And that really scared me. Or I could go move with my father and my brother to Los Angeles, California. And I could pursue something. I could lose a weight and then maybe pursue my career after that.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Dad, when you reached? that weight, what were you thinking to yourself? Well, you know, you don't really notice, man. When you love your kids, man, they get fat. You don't see that. Right. You just love them. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:30 You know, until you see pictures when he lost all that weight. Right. What the, I don't even, you don't really notice. You know, you just wanted to be happy, and he was still training. When he got back, he said he wanted to lose the weight. I helped him lose the weight. Then he said he wants to go professional, and that's how we started everything. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:48 So you never put pressure on him to do it. He wanted to do it. I did put a lot of pressure. When he was little, when he's been training since it was two years old. His first five was a three years old. Junior's been training since he was six years old. So to be honest with you, I took their childhood away to box and train and get ready, you know, for life. And that's how everything started.
Starting point is 00:27:09 What do you expect him to get Zordor this upcoming fight? You know, he's going to get a beating, man. You know, these guys have been sacrificed in all their lives going through a lot. Right. And that's why Mike Tyson called him Mexican monster, because that's why he, Mike Tyson, called him Mexican monster. because that's what they are Mexican monster, you know, he's a monster. Right. And I think he's just going to destroy Sudo Ramirez.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Cinco de Mayo weekend is a very special day for Mexicans and Hispanics, and we've got to represent. And we can't just win the fight. We've got to look impressive in order to go fight, be ball better vied, and all the bigger fighters. Right. Are you predicting? So he, dad is saying you're going to whip ass. I think, I think I'm going to say right now, you know, I think he's going to stop Sudo Ramirez, so they're going to have to stop the fight like in the 9-10 round.
Starting point is 00:27:49 So you're predicting. But that's what? I was about to ask Junior. Yeah, that's what I see. You know, he's going to take him to deep waters and drown him and hurt them and take him out. Are you predicting the knockout as well? Yeah, bro, I've been working extremely hard.
Starting point is 00:28:01 I think the momentum has definitely shifted, you know, the past four fights, you know, with Caleb Plant, Boo Boo, Andre, David Morel, Anthony Yard. I've just, I've been getting more experience. I've been working extremely hard and I've been, you know, beating the top guys, you know what So there's just a lot of stuff coming into this. You know, I got, I got a lot of good momentum. You know what I mean? I'm training harder than ever.
Starting point is 00:28:25 You know, I got my three kids. I got my wife, you know, I got my whole, everybody that supports me. So I have a great support system. You know, I'm really motivated. I'm really hungry for this. I want to become the face of boxing. And the only way that gets done is, you know, getting a great win with a good performance against Sourder Ramirez.
Starting point is 00:28:43 But I definitely do see myself on another level than all these guys. You know, I think I've been showing that with the performances. Do you think you... Sorry, Max Scott. Yeah, I want to take yourself out of the equation for a second. When they come to Mexican fighters, there's so many great Mexican fighters. Give me your top three without you in it. Julio Cesar Chavez, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Oscar de La Jolla.
Starting point is 00:29:11 I try to go three instead of five. That's a good list. That's a really good list. Do you think you have to move up and wait because people were scared to fight you? Yeah, I mean, to just be frank about it, I think so. You know what I mean? There's a lot of, at the end of the day, if a fight doesn't get made happen, it's because somebody from somewhere didn't want to make it happen.
Starting point is 00:29:34 You know what I mean? Bevall, that was supposed to fight him. That fight never happened. Canelo, you know, we're, it looked like it was going to happen at the time. That fight never happened. And so, I mean, definitely, like I said, I don't want to wait for nobody no more. I don't want to, you know, be on the sideline.
Starting point is 00:29:50 I want to capture my own greatness. You know what I mean? If that means jumping up from weight classes, going down in the weight classes, that's exactly what I'm doing. That's what's up. We seen you shoot ball at the Phoenix Suns game. You play ball too?
Starting point is 00:30:00 No. No. Yeah. I seen him play. That, when you fought Dimitri, I knew after that nobody was going to fight you after that. Because I thought he was like the boogeyman in that division a little bit. But once you fought him, I was just like, there's nobody going to fight.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Yeah, and I mean, he was for a time. You know, even Conello didn't want to fight him. You know what I mean? There's a lot of great fights, but, like, you know, at the end of the day, you have to set yourself apart from all these fighters. And the only way to do that is to call out the great fighters. You know, nobody wanted to fight Moreau either. Beat the shit out of Moreau.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Caleb Plant, you fight him. You know, Andre. Even the last guy, Anthony Yarre, he was pretty good to fight him, you know. And then, like I said, at the end of the day, it's all about risks in this sport. You know what I mean? That's really how your name will live on. And I don't see, like, I see good fighters and I don't get scared. You know, for me, what I want to get is I want to take the most risk
Starting point is 00:30:54 because I know that's what's going to make my name live longer. That's what's up. Dad, if you don't get the Canelo fight and you win on Cinco de Mayo weekend, what do you want? What do you want? The plan is, you know, we're going to go and fight the best. We're going to go get those monsters too. Better be a big ball. We're ready for those guys, you know.
Starting point is 00:31:12 I think that would be another interesting fight, a really good fight for the fans, and those are the ones, better be for big ball, you know, those are the ones that are in line right now. Absolutely. I'm a big Portland Trailblazer fan. We have a huge series here coming up with the San Antonio Spurs.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Spurs of my team. Greatest Blazer of all time, Dame Lillard. How did you guys link up and he get added to your camp? So I met him years ago, and then it's a big shout out Dame Lillard. He's a gentleman. He's a true man. He's a great man.
Starting point is 00:31:42 somebody I really respect a lot, you know, on the basketball court in person in real life. You know, he's a great dude all around. I met him through this guy right here, my Strength and Conditioning Trainer. I actually lived in Oregon. I lived in Lake Oswego for like two years. Yeah, it's beautiful out there. I love it. She's from Portland.
Starting point is 00:31:59 That's where I am. Yeah, Lake Oswego? Yeah, Portland, yeah. It's beautiful out there. And I love it, you know what I mean? When I got there, you know, I met Dame, and I didn't really know too much about basketball. But I had a conversation with him for like about an hour. me not knowing who Damien Lillard was, and he seemed like a regular person.
Starting point is 00:32:16 You know, he didn't seem like, you know, a stuck up person to show off or this and that. And that's really what impressed me more. And we could have a, you know, conversation, you know, a good conversation without, you know, me feeling weird. You know, he treated me with a lot of respect, and I was nobody, you know what I mean? But yeah, we've been training with him. You know, he's been boxing for a while. He boxes with my guy right here. He was a great guy, bro.
Starting point is 00:32:39 I really like Damien Lurielder a lot. He's a great man. He's a friend of the show. He comes up here. It came up here before as well, moving out. Well, look, man, we're looking forward for the fight against Zordo. Hopefully, Canelo will bite. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I'm be honest with you. I don't think it's going to happen. I'm just being honest. Like, when we look at you fight, you're dangerous. You know what I'm saying? And then what happens is, well, you're such a dangerous fight. I remember watching, you know, it's funny when you talk about Triple G. I was a big Triple G fan.
Starting point is 00:33:07 And, you know, he always talking about playing the Mexican way. used to say or whatever. But he said he used to, like, let fights go into 10-11 rounds so people wouldn't be scared to fight them. And when people see you and how hard you hit, it's dangerous. They get scared. What do you think about that, Mason? Do you think people are running from them?
Starting point is 00:33:28 Because I actually think people are running from them. Yeah, I think it's his relentless style that make people not fight them. You know, like, some fighters, they figure you out by the fifth round. It's like he's just fighting at one speed the whole time. Yeah, and you're coming forward. the majority of the fight. He's not using no athletic. Yeah, yeah, I'm coming to hurt you.
Starting point is 00:33:47 It's almost like, me and Mesa was watching a fight, and he's like, it's tunnel vision, mummy style, I'm coming to hurt you. Like, that's what it looks like. What it is with me, though, is, you know, it's just my mentality since I've been a little kid. I think, you know, my favorite thing to watch as a little kid were the war movies, like 300, Troy, Gladiator.
Starting point is 00:34:08 My dad made me train since a little kid like some crazy workouts since a little kid and I always gravitated towards that. So every time I look at boxing, I don't look at it as a sport. I see it as killer be killed. Because symbolically, if you lose a fight, that's what happens.
Starting point is 00:34:22 Your career dies a little bit. They try to pay you less money. You go all the way to the back of the line. So I see it like that, bro. Like I don't see it as a sport. You know, a lot of people see it as a, you know, punch, move around. I don't see it like that, bro.
Starting point is 00:34:33 I'm in there. I'm trying to mess you up every single round because if I don't do that to you, you're going to try to do that to me. So I'll be damned if I let you beat me up in front of my wife In front of my kids in front of all my people So that's why I got to fight like this And you know, it's never gonna change
Starting point is 00:34:48 It's always been like that And it always, it's always gonna be like that But my thing that I'm mad about is right If you guys think you're the best in the world Why don't you fight the other best in the world And show the people like, what the fuck You guys are getting a lot of money Like what's the problem?
Starting point is 00:35:02 Like and then now it's all known people are businessmen People don't want to keep, don't want to fight other great fighters Other fighters have to you know I mean It's bullshit to me. You know what I'm? You're right. It's pissing me off because these guys are getting some big money finding some bums. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:17 You know what I mean? When Canelo fought fucking, what's his name? That guy before Terrence Crawford, I think he got like $150 million for that. Like, bro, like $150 million for that. And that dude ran for 12 rounds and Conello threw like 10 punches. Right. You know what I mean? Like if they're getting that much money, bro, let's give the fight, the fans.
Starting point is 00:35:36 You know how the fights at least make it worth it. You know what I mean? You're 100% correct, but I think what you just said is part of why they don't want to do it, because once you fuck them up, they're going to the back of the line. They're going to get less money. Yeah, it got to be the last fight. It got to be when I'm ready to retire. Countdown.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Take that fight. But I think is, I call it the Errol Spence rule, right? If you dug somebody for so long and they stop you, it's over for you. Because we all know as casuals that you've been ducking this fight the whole time. You may make it look like you, it just wasn't the time we had to let the fight build up. But the casuals know you've been ducking that fight the whole time. So if he loses that fight, it looks like we all knew this. Yeah, and I understand too.
Starting point is 00:36:24 But like I said, at the end of the day, it comes to like here, like you just want to show, I just want to show everybody on the best. Like that's really all I care about. We definitely think that, bro. And at the end of the day, like, if you got it, you guys want to make me wait five years, I'm going to wait five years. I'm 29 right now. I got another 10, 15 years left to me.
Starting point is 00:36:41 These guys are, they're towards the end already. So, I mean, time will tell. And that's probably what they're trying to do. Get out of here without having to fight you. But I hope it goes down because to me, me and Mesa always say the best fights now on Twitter. Everybody's fighting on Twitter, man. Everybody's tough guys on Twitter,
Starting point is 00:37:01 and then it's when it's time to get to work, nobody wants to get to work. Facts. And another question I have for you, How important, I know your dad trained you, but how important was your big brother, right? Because, you know, as the youngest, we get to watch all our older brothers make all of the mistakes.
Starting point is 00:37:17 And then we end up being special. So how important was he to your career? So my big brother was always my idol. You know what I mean? That's why I became as good as I am because I always try to replicate what my brother was doing and he was always the best. So if you already have a brother that he's a great and amazing fighter,
Starting point is 00:37:34 You know, what tends to happen is a little brother, he's looking up to that. He's going to be as good or probably even better. But my brother, bro, you know, my brother taught me a lot of stuff, not only in boxing, but in life, how to be a man. You know, how to take care of your family, how to take care of yourself. How to not let nobody punk you. How to be a real man. You know what I mean? So, you know, that's helped me for me to become the person I am today.
Starting point is 00:37:56 You know what I mean? It's helped me for inboxing. It's helped me be a strong man for me, my family, my kids. And, you know, I always cherish everything. My brother taught me. Right, cool. That's what I said. Let them know what the fight is, Trish.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Fight is May 2nd, correct? Weekend of Cinco de Mayo. Thank you so much. Yeah, we appreciate you guys. Good luck, man. Like I said... Knock him out. Yeah, listen, that's what he do.
Starting point is 00:38:19 He knocked me. Knock them out. Like I said, I don't know. We're not just telling you this because you guys are on the show. Yeah. We've been saying people have been running for you. We started the show three years ago.
Starting point is 00:38:30 It has been at least, like, since we started, I'm being generous. and seven. They may be in loving time, saying, when is they going to really fight you? So we're big fans of the show, and we wish you luck this up. Thank you, thanks, guys.
Starting point is 00:38:42 I appreciate you. And hopefully y'all get the fights that y'all deserve, man. Thank you so much. That's all the time that we have for it is what it is. Let us know in the comments, is Canelo ever going to fight the Mexican monster?
Starting point is 00:38:58 Thank you so much. I don't know, that nigga running, man. He's running. As always. And also, shout out to Cam. Did the second segment with the ice pack. Yeah, man. I'm being fucking smack down this weekend, man.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Trust me, I'll be down there, man. Pardon me, WrestleMania on Saturday. Saturday-ass, nigga. I see you Saturday, man. Hey, if you need me to leave my bro here with you, he got you. He was here, man. You know, he was here,
Starting point is 00:39:22 I didn't know he was straight for conditioning, but he took his jacket off. I see why he took his jacket off. We appreciate you guys, man, but we appreciate you guys for coming through, and thank you so much. And as always, it is with it. is.
