I'm Treasure Wilson, aka Stat Baby, along with your host, Mace, and Cam. And today We are joined with our analyst, Michael Irvin. Mike was good.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Killer, what's going on? What's good, man? How you doing? Mike, what's happening, man? Great, man. And all things, all good things are happening, man. Just out here meeting some people and just looking into some work, man. But yeah, yeah, all is good, especially about all the week.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Looking forward to what's happening this weekend. Good. That's what's up. That's what's up, man. Let me ask you a question, Mike. And I know we got to get to a couple of things, and I think we'll get, I think it's on our list today. Is your basketball team, The Mavericks?
Starting point is 00:01:35 Of course, I like the Mavericks. But, you know, it's so funny, when I saw the day, you know, they were saying, okay, the Mavericks. So I thought, for some reason, I'm telling you my, I was like, oh, I gotta watch Luca. Yeah. You mean you gotta watch Cooper Flagg. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:52 But yeah, and still, in my mind, I don't know why it's still that. Right. Yeah, it's first game in the season. Right. Okay. Well, we're not going to get to basketball yet. We're going to start with football.
Starting point is 00:02:03 We're going to get into our predictions for this Thursday night game tonight. So the Vikings will play the Chargers. Mike, who do you predict wins this game? Dude, I was, it was funny. I just sent it to Nick and posted it. I had my mind made up, you know, because I was looking at how this game played out. I was looking at the kind of game Jalen Hurts had against Minnesota. against Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:02:27 And I was leaning towards going with the charges in this game. They need this win and everything. Got knock all those guys back. And then I was looking at doing some studies. And this is true. I was like, OK, I want to do side-by-side comparison on the schedule and results just to see what teams have gone
Starting point is 00:02:47 been going through. Because I just see if anybody hitting a rhythm or something, you know, like one team win, loss, win, loss. You know, you just try to pick up whatever rhythm, team on and when I looked it up it said the Vikings won score not specified and the charges lost score not specified oh wait a minute is this AI doing stuff it don't supposed to be doing right now why do they have a score on October 23rd right now and well it's not a score they just got the but I don't even know that blew my mind I had the
Starting point is 00:03:21 charges but maybe they know more than I don't you see what I'm saying. I was like, man, the Vikings may win it. I posted that thing. I've never seen anything like that. I think the charges should win this game. It's a home game. The charges I think have a better team.
Starting point is 00:03:40 And they just, like I said, the Vikings secondary just gave up a perfect game. A perfect game to Jaylon Hurst, a team that we thought, you know, I don't know if he's that kind of a passer. So you figure the guy that had Justin Herder
Starting point is 00:03:55 right now, it's going to go and kill the Vikings. So that's why I went with the Chargers. But I guess Google and AI said. Yeah, I'm going with Google and AI. I think Minnesota wins this game. I'm for new hotness, you know. So I know they got Justin Herbert and he should be playing pretty well.
Starting point is 00:04:21 But something is telling me my, my championship pedigree is telling me that the Minnesota Vikings win this game. I don't know. I like the charges, man. I like the charges. And this is purely off my favoritism for Justin Herbert and Harbour. You know, I'm fans of both of those guys.
Starting point is 00:04:44 So this isn't really an analyst pick because, you know, to Mike's credit, and I thought Mike maybe week two was just, week two or three was just jumping. was just jumping the gun. But you look at the standings, it's nobody pulling away. Even if you look at every division,
Starting point is 00:05:04 you know, the charges started off real good, the first couple weeks, and then they backslid, and now they're four and three. And then I'm saying, Minnesota, to me, this is really a chance for Carson Wentz to make a statement.
Starting point is 00:05:16 He had over 350 yards or 340 yards last game, two interceptions, but he played decent. he's a nigga that we kind of forgot about. You got to remember Carson once was one of them niggas at one time. He's like, okay, we was going to put him with
Starting point is 00:05:32 maybe, and of course we don't want to go Patrick Mahoney Joe Barrow. You know the elite quarterbacks now, but I thought he, at one time, he was a tear underneath them. You got Thursday night's slot. You got a chance to prove yourself. Addison looks real good at the wide receiver. You got a decent wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Listen, man, this is your chance. But for me, I'm going to go with the Chargers off of favoritism. That's purely my own. only reason go on with the charges. Man, I'm telling you, that's just, dude, that's a, that's a tough pick, man. Yeah, it is a hard pick, and this AI, Google messed me up with it. I mean, it really did, because you, you know, you're right, and you look at how they
Starting point is 00:06:08 charges, like you said, started out well, and then, you know, lost three in the last four. Right. Minnesota went, win, win, loss, win, win, when lost, went into, then went into the buy and came out, lost, you see what I'm saying? So, they'll be more desperate. They'll be more desperate. That's why, yeah, this is a tough pick. But like I said, I started with the charges
Starting point is 00:06:30 and then Google AI can't change my mind. But see, the thing is, too, is like, Mike, let me ask you this, right? And we know this isn't a division game, but when you look at the, when you're sitting there, and I know you play with some elite teams, when you're sitting there saying, okay, cool,
Starting point is 00:06:46 this is in our hands. Like, I'm using the charges, for example. We're one game out of first place. what is that urgency going to kick in as a coach and say look we got a chance and I know we're not near the playoffs just yet we're approaching 50% into the season when do you say look man we need to take this into our hands because it's ours we can take this right now and run away with it I don't see any team doing that right now saying outside of Kansas City because they already have championship pedigree and they're saying okay we know what we need to do but it's no team to me right now saying, week to week saying, look, we got a chance to take this motherfucker and get a definite spot in the playoffs. When does that urgency seek in, Mike? Right, right, right, right around when you hit cross Thanksgiving. Okay. And now, honestly, because now you start hitting down the stretch and everybody is trying to say, oh God,
Starting point is 00:07:45 we're jocry for positions now. And I told you that jockeying is going to be tight because everybody's going to be pretty much into that 10-7, 116 range. You see what I'm saying? And these wins or these games right here that Cam, you're saying you don't see desperation on these dudes face? They're going to wish you did see desperation because at the end of the year, one or two of these teams going to be able to say, ah, we just won that game right now. But we weren't desperate like Cam said, and we messed up.
Starting point is 00:08:19 And you can't go back. And you don't start over next year at that place. You gotta start all back over at zero. I'm telling you, I'm telling you, for some reason, but it'll panic after Thanksgiving, right around we get the Thanksgiving. Gotcha. Killer, you don't think that India is doing that at six and one?
Starting point is 00:08:38 I told Mike that on Monday morning. I said, if it's any team. Yeah. I think he was, I don't know if you was here, if you was out or without. I was out. Yeah, I said, that's the only team that I say, if they get to 8-1, that they're pulling away.
Starting point is 00:08:52 I said, that's the only team that looks really, really good, even though Mike said it, week 2, 3, when he's in the year and the Jones, and then I was like, fuck out of here. And they're looking good week-to-week. I said, if they get the 8-1, that's really the dominant team in the NFL. But I think it was out that day. Yeah, they're on a three-game winning street.
Starting point is 00:09:11 But I think even with the 8 teams that are 5 and 2, I think there's some teams that could potentially pull away, but they it's going to be determined like he said in the next couple of weeks by thanksgiving i could see that if somebody end up eight and two then then they'll be in really good place and if tamper i think tampa may get tampa let me say and cam i'm glad that we mentioned this because i i told you guys i don't want to say i prophesied and brought it Oh my God, see, it always goes left, yo. It'd be cool, it'd be real cool.
Starting point is 00:09:51 I told you what they're doing in Tampa. And honestly, you saw, you saw when CD came back, C.Lam had early success, and the whole team rose up. Now, then you look over and you saw when Mike Evans came back, they tried to get the ball to Mike Evans to have that early success, and they went 0 for four trying to force him the ball and even that deep ball that he got hurt towards collarbone,
Starting point is 00:10:20 you know what I mean? And now, now, honestly, I thought that, I said, Tampa could be dominant when these guys get back. And then when I saw how they were trying to force feed Mike and then, of course, unfortunately, he got hurt, I thought, okay, maybe they can't be dominant, but the reality is now they can
Starting point is 00:10:40 because now they can go back to doing what they were. we're doing without saying, well, we got Mike Evans coming back and we have to work him back in the rotation, you know, when they finally started working him in, you know, they didn't get that great lift. As a matter of fact, they got put down once he went out. That changed a whole feeling of that game for them. I hate to say it, but I believe it to be true that we saw Mike Evans for the last time in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform with them young boys playing the way they are playing. That's what I was telling you guys earlier.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Mike, you like that new receiver in Tampa Bay, and I understand where you're coming from, when you definitely just say that they want a, and you did say this, I'm paraphrasing what you say. You said that they want somebody just as good as you that they have to pay less money to. What's the nigger name?
Starting point is 00:11:33 Right, they've owned a cheaper version. What's the nigger name? Probably in Mecca, Ekuka. Yeah, you know, a Puka Nuba and Ek Nuba, Uka Nuba. It's these- Like, who could take Cooper flag? You know, it's another similar name. And you did say that, Mike. But Mike, why you gotta go prophecy
Starting point is 00:11:50 and all that shit, man? You always take it too far, prophesized. Yo, Mike is from all of them now. You prophesize the shit, Mike. You always go too far. Okay, you called it. You said it. Now, we do see Mike Evans
Starting point is 00:12:06 in the last time in the Tampa Bay uniform. We'll see. But I understand what you're talking. about with the Rams situation and they and what I call I call him Pookie because I want to disrespect his name but we've seen how good he was are you saying that this receiver in Tampa Bay is just going to be good as Pookie with the Rams? Yeah, hey boy listen hey that boy we play I'm gonna tell you another young guy JS N last boy oh that Jackson Smith in Jigma who that's another young dude that I'm
Starting point is 00:12:39 talking about it's time to start putting them in the top five. Tyreech Hill is hurt. It's time to start putting him up there and the top five receivers in this league right now with the way he's balling. Gotcha. Well, here is new hotness.
Starting point is 00:12:55 So at least Mike is on the way. Yeah. The Venner, new hotness is in the building, too. Yeah. Okay. So next, we got a quote from Tom Brady. So Tom Brady calls the draft. Hold on real quick, real quick. I know we are going on.
Starting point is 00:13:06 You're good. Yo, Mike, I spoke to Dion over the day. me and Dion was speaking a day before yesterday. He told me don't let you try to gaffle me or trick me out my spot. When you be trying to talk shit and that when you try to spin me and tell me that
Starting point is 00:13:24 niggas is a game and a half above. Game and a half above. If you're being a team, you're a division. Yo, I'm telling you what he called and told me specifically. Yo, do not. I like Mike hit you. It's a half a game, Kim.
Starting point is 00:13:42 They still got to play. And he said, good old James Dublin. This is the shit. This is what he said. He said, good old James Dublin. This is what he do, Kim. I'm telling you. He said, I was in the minute.
Starting point is 00:13:57 And then we got to quick conversation. He said, I'm on the field looking at the game. I look back. Mike over there with, you know. He said, he will double back on you in a minute, man. No, you said, do not let them spin you, Cam, you was right. I just wanted to tell you before I forget. I just wanted to let you know.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Shout to Coach Prime too as well, man. That's my man, that's my dude, yeah. That's my dude, man. That's funny, man. That is funny, dog. That name James Dublin is funny, man. That dude comes up with some crazy stuff. Get old James Dublin, man.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Okay. So we've got a quote from Tom Brady. He calls the draft the most overrated weekend. of the NFL calendar. He said, it's one thing to draft, then then you've got to develop. More important to me is develop. We had, I think, the most overrated weekend of the NFL calendar, the NFL draft, because 95% of these guys won't make meaningful contributions in their first year.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Most of these guys will make meaningful contributions in the 2026 season. So after hearing that take from Tom Brady, Mike, what do you think about what he had to say? Are you speaking out of his pain? I understand. You know what I mean? are not being drafted very high and everything, but, you know, there's no way you can talk about the meaningless part of a draft, the way I have always seen the draft, honestly, honestly. It can be meaningless and don't take it the wrong way to a whole lot of dudes that are coming
Starting point is 00:15:31 from a good situation and just trying to make it into the NFL. but it's a hell of a lottery hit for the first 32 Negroes brothers coming from the ghetto. I don't care what you're talking about. You understand what I'm saying. There are two things to this. It's yes, yes, yes. From a development standpoint, sometimes, yeah, you want to give them more time. But, you know, especially prior to the NIL, this is life-changing.
Starting point is 00:16:05 This draft, this moment, is life. changing for a lot of people. I know Tom got drafted late and I know he climbed his way up and all of that is to be commended. And I honor him for that. But Tom didn't go through where a Negro like Mike went through. The draft was everything to me and my family. Yeah. The draft was everything to a lot of brothers in their families. And then you have to deal with your career, but I'm never going to put down that draft. I can't do that, man, never. Yeah, I'm in a hundred percent agreement with you, Mike,
Starting point is 00:16:43 when it comes to this draft, to say this is meaningless, is it kind of make Tom, and I know Tom is a great football player, you know, goat status and all of that. But when you say stuff like this, it just sounds like you're out of touch with reality realistically because when you think of this weekend, or that weekend that we're talking about,
Starting point is 00:17:05 even beyond the 31st, the first 32 players. This is life-changing. This is a dream come true for so many kids. They played this sport since they was four and five years old. Their dad had them running routes and learning Ls and, you know, just everything going to quarterback school, sniper school. Shout out the sniper school and that guy doing a great job,
Starting point is 00:17:30 training quarterbacks. it's so much work going to this and this just speaks of just privilege just when you grow up in great societies and great families and you don't feel much pressure from many people this is this is the only way I could really even think about this quote making sense because it makes no sense to all of the kids like you said coming from the ghetto how about the people that are were walk-ons. How about the people that just were late bloomers and they're looking forward to being draft in the third round and the fourth round and to make something special of themselves? Some people are just excited to make the team because they know if they get on the team,
Starting point is 00:18:14 they'll have a chance to be in the practice squad and things like that where they could work their way up. So I think this is a crazy statement. And I love Tom Brady, but you know, every once in a while, even a great say something crazy. I understand. Listen, I agree with Mike. You got to think about Tom Brady. Like you said, that was going to be the beginning of my take. Tom Brady drafted six rounds and all that shit, nigga. Like, look at me.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Turned out to be the best nigga in the world. They almost left me out to motherfucking pictures. You think about somebody like Brock Purdy. You think about Brock Purdy, right? Brock Purdy's Mr. Irrelevant. $200. What do you got to contract? $2.30?
Starting point is 00:18:55 You understand? I think Tom, and, you know, so I think, I think what Tom is alluding to, I don't think that he meant that it's the most overrated weekend or whatever. I don't know what days is on week of NFL. I think more him is, what he's saying is this, and like I said, just speculation,
Starting point is 00:19:15 is he saying that this shit then became a spectacle. That's what I think that he's saying. And it's not about the players or what, like you said, the first 32 and life changing money, and of course we know that. that everything that Mason, Mike said was 100% correct. But I think Tom Brady's coming from the perspective of saying, we don't turn this into a five-day spectacle.
Starting point is 00:19:39 We keep showing damn Shador Sanders, no disrespect, and his family, because he turned out last draft to be the biggest topic of the draft. He still hasn't played this season. But you keep going to the cameras at his house, showing him it's become drama outside of what's really important of the players that's getting draft. So if they could find a storyline
Starting point is 00:20:00 or find something that's important and be like, oh, not just your door, anybody. Well, he's still sitting. We've seen players, not just your door. We've seen players sit there and be like, he's supposed to be, not just football, basketball, like, uh-oh, they still ain't pick him. They still ain't pick him.
Starting point is 00:20:17 And that starts becoming the storyline as opposed to some of the people that got drafted and they being happy. You know, we sat there and watched I see the special, Mark Jackson, Mark Jackson ended up being a great basketball player, worked with us on this show. But it became a spectacle when he kept getting passed
Starting point is 00:20:36 and passed and passed and passed and passed, and then he ended up finally, but that becomes the storyline. And I think to me, that's where Tom Brady was coming from, not shitting on the niggas who got picked, not shitting on niggas who come from poor environments. I don't think that's what he meant. I just think he meant this shit then turned to spectacle.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Think about this. We watched that shit for four days. I think it was on for, the draft was on for four days in a row. And the topic of every day is winning Shador going, as opposed to all the other great stories of like you and Mace just talked about, about people coming from bad environment,
Starting point is 00:21:14 so on and so forth. Four days straight, the highest rating draft was about Shador not getting picked. And to me, that's where Tom Brady was coming from. And that's just my opinion. I don't know if that's a fact or not, but to me, that's a fact that. more of what I took from it and that's a great that's a great point that's a
Starting point is 00:21:31 great point what you're saying killer and I would think that the reason why I went five days is because your door didn't get picked and so but no murder it goes like that the last few years it isn't just this year for four but we never but we don't have that kind of attention paid yeah that's what to pay to those made around that's what that's what makes talking about yeah and the only reason he was even interested in all of that what happened in the later round is because it's your door. But I concurred with that conclusion, Cam.
Starting point is 00:22:02 You're correct. It's called all C's homiletics teaching and preaching. I concurred with that conclusion you are correct. All C's, C's and C's. You get what I'm saying. But you are correct. I believe that he was also just trying to motivate the guys that didn't get it drafted as high as they wanted to.
Starting point is 00:22:25 But it is our experience. and it's our job to help Tom see a perspective that he may not consider it when he said such a thing because that that's the reality. The draft has done so much for other people. We understand what you're trying to do for those group of people, and you just got to state that.
Starting point is 00:22:45 We know Tom didn't mean any ill will or ill-tent, but we come from different places. You come from a good place, a good upbringing, and you got drafted late, that stuff don't matter, don't worry about it. But you come from where we come from, and hey baby, you're the ticket, they've been around forever.
Starting point is 00:23:05 That draft is everything. They've been on your back like a horse trying to get you close that finish line and get that family money. That's a family money. They all could turn French when I got drafted. Michael, we're rich. We my ass.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Ain't know what you're talking about it. Mike, we rich. We did it. I cut Mace off. I didn't mean to cut Mace off. I know. Mike just said it. Mike just shared what I was talking about.
Starting point is 00:23:31 And you know when it comes to Tom Brady, we, everybody up here, we, we appreciate Tom Brady and totally adore what he's done for the game of football. It's just, um, when you make these statements just as an adult, it's not about what you intend to say. It's about what you said. As a child, we can go with what you attend to say. I think as adults, you got to watch what you. say. Yeah. And let me say this.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Now, Tom got much black crick. Got much black crib. Yeah. What he did for Antonio Brown, I'm an always love him. I don't care what anybody say. You know, Tom stick his neck out for Antonio Brown and got him back in the league and trying to help him every kind of way. Of course, you know, Antonio Brown turned around.
Starting point is 00:24:16 That's not what Antonio said. Shuck. Right, right. And shoved the right. But, hey, that's what it looked like. So I knew Antonio was not going to get back in the league unless somebody like Tom talked to him. I could tell you that personally. I was talking to the commission.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I could tell you that personally. We were talking at one point when, you know, when Antonio Brown had that thing go down in Miami. You know, we were trying to, what can we do to help him get back in the league and all of that. And then that Miami thing went down when he was going off on his kids. And I was like, well, you know, you should approach that conversation anymore. You know what I mean? But the only way he got back in was Tom.
Starting point is 00:25:01 I didn't like what Antonio Brown did afterwards after the man had laid down and helped him like that. I thought that was, that wouldn't like. I've seen the draft where Johnny Mansell was begging niggas to take him and he's white. He just said, anybody take me. So I agree with you, it makes. I'm not disagreeing.
Starting point is 00:25:19 But niggas be one, And the niggas definitely white, black, or Chinese, or Spanish or yellow, I wanna leave nobody out. But you guys are absolutely right. Means more when you come from a poor environment and the draft does, very important. And then what I was trying to say, I wasn't cutting you off, Mace, I was just saying that
Starting point is 00:25:35 for the last few years, it's been three, four, five days, but that's why I said in my opening statement, this was the highest rating draft because, I'm talking about viewer-wise, because of Shador. That's what, so I wasn't disagreeing with you at all. I was just saying for the last few years, it's been four or five days. But think about this. It's like when we was talking about
Starting point is 00:25:56 before. And a lot of people who are fans and everything else don't understand business. If we could drag the NFL draft out four, five, six days and get more money every day, TV sponsorship commercial ads, so on and so forth, it's business. Same thing like
Starting point is 00:26:14 Mike when you were saying you started Just Show and we were talking about Red Zone getting commercials. You said, I don't want Red Zone get commercials, but now that I'm doing X, Y, Z, what you're doing, you understand when it comes to ads and sponsorships and everything else. So to me, it's business, but you guys
Starting point is 00:26:30 are correct. Yeah, I agree with all you guys. It's definitely going to be different perspectives. That's why we're going to see things differently. And then even to Mike's point with Antonio Brown, if you're going to get an endorsement to come back in the league, Tom Brady would definitely be the person to do that. So that was dope that he was able to do that for him.
Starting point is 00:26:46 And what he get in return? That's what I'm saying. You know, you know. They can get your wife all in my bedroom t-shirts with these Lola, but you get in for certain rap songs about you. All you doing is solidified. You know, Tom was one of the white guys that said, I ain't going to believe them. I'm going to work with these brothers.
Starting point is 00:27:14 And then in the end, said, God, I guess they were right. You can't do that for the Negroes. You know what I'm saying? You know, listen, that thing got crazy. Yeah, listen, man, I ain't trying to put it in this in this exact category, but when you let Pookie back in the Carter, because he cleaned itself up. Yeah, I can't get on out of here. Yo, you let them back in, my nigga.
Starting point is 00:27:39 You see what happened. Nick, you blew the caught up behind that, my Nick. Antonio will get on y'all for this. Antonio used to be on this show, too. Yeah, he was our analyst. Yeah, no, y'all on cam. I fool with A.B., my man, too. I think everybody up here does.
Starting point is 00:27:57 We're just clear, because that's why when Mace said, that's not what A.B. said, that is directly from the source, because we asked them about us. Back to kind of what we started with, it's different perspectives. Yeah. Yo, listen, man, Mike. I'm going to tell you this in full disclosure, and even though it's not disclosure, we want to show,
Starting point is 00:28:14 AB say, yo, let me turn myself in on y'all's show. Hey, we said, yeah, you're talking. Hey, we say, yo, let us, he said, let them come arrest me on your show. We said we can't do it. They're going to say we snitching, eh? We can't do it. No, dog. That's a lookout, man.
Starting point is 00:28:39 He's looking out for y'all. He's looking out. Dude, that's going to, that, hey, boy, listen, that show going to draw so much to see it. It'll be insane. I think that's an incredible thing for him to offer. Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike. It wasn't for free. Of course, it's not for free.
Starting point is 00:29:02 It wasn't that much of a favorite. Let's slow down, nigga. He wasn't free. Yeah. Yeah, I got to. Yeah, I called him with it. I called him with it. He was shopping that thing.
Starting point is 00:29:18 He's not shopping that thing. But no, we definitely fool what they be up here. Yeah. For sure. Okay, so I know that we said Tom Brady called that weekend overrated, but I'm curious in you guys' perspective. So do you guys feel like there's a big weekend in sports, music, or culture that you think is overrated or used to be really hot that kind of just died down over the years, Mike?
Starting point is 00:29:39 Boy, that's a great question. Man, what was it? It used to have, now, listen, I don't know. Not in sports, but I tell you, it's one that I hate, died down before I could really partake in it. It was an old thing that used to call it. I think it was in Atlanta, so we're called a Freakknit. Y'all, I don't know what it was. Yeah, Mike.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Yeah, Mike. Yeah. Hold on. Do you know the freak nick? I've seen the documentary and stuff like that. I was like, that was actually going to do. Mike, you're right about that. guy, Mike Muffin, I ain't gonna keep going.
Starting point is 00:30:20 I'm never going to it, man, heard about it, you know what I'm saying? How did I miss Freaknick, you know what I'm saying? That's so crazy, I'm saying, let me stop, man. I don't know why it came to my mom. That was a good one. You know why it came to mom. Mike, that was your day, too. That was in your hay.
Starting point is 00:30:41 You should have definitely made it there. Yeah. Right, I guess I was at Freaknicks in every city. I'm just bullshit. No, you're not, nigga. No, you not. Yeah, what's a weekend or a celebration that I could think of that, you said that's overrated?
Starting point is 00:31:02 That's overrated or used to be really lit, and it's just like, damn, that used to be the thing, and now it's really not. Oh, I can't even remember one right now on a fan. I know, but I could think of something that used to be lit. 25th Street, Apollo. I was gonna say that Grant, I was gonna say Grant's Tomb. Yeah, Grand's Tomb and Holland Week used to be amazing.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Yeah, I ain't gonna lie. I was gonna definitely say Grant's Tomb. It's a Harlem thing. Used to be every week, every week in the summertime. And Holland Week in the summertime, too, on 125th Street, used to be really good. Nice. Yeah, I think when they moved it to on 35th, it just wasn't the same. It's like Skakee on 138th Street. It's just ain't the same thing as Allenton Avenue, man.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Sorry. Okay. Well, in the comments, let us know a weekend that you remember that just kind of didn't get as lit as it used to be. But we're going to go to break. We return. We'll discuss Cooper Flagg, Wemby, and the Lakers. Don't go anywhere.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Welcome, maybe I'm my own problem, babe. She's tired of hearing, I don't know. What's stubborn in me won't fall, oh, oh. Dealing with this thing called trust, but she really thinking about her want to be free. Welcome back. Now let's get into our underdog picks of the day. So tonight, the Nuggets will play the Warriors. Underdog has Steph Curry at 24 and a half points.
Starting point is 00:32:47 Do you have them higher or lower, Mace? Hi, yeah, this is Steph Curry, man. Steph Curry always had these numbers. And unless he's against Kai Rhee, that's the only time I go against Steph Curry. I'm going to go lower. This is going to be a great game, but I think it's more about the players that's on the team getting involved.
Starting point is 00:33:07 We know what Steph Curry can do. We got to see what Jimmy Butler is going to do this season. And it's one of your buddy Hill. We got to start getting them in the rotation early. And I like the way, what's my young nigger name on Golden State, man? They just re-sign that nigga, athletic young nigga. Caminga. He's been playing really good in the preseason.
Starting point is 00:33:30 We'll see if it comes to life in the regular season. But I'm going to go lower, not because stuff can't get it. I just think it's about more of Golden State winning as a team. Okay. Jimmy Butler is at 18 and a half points. Do you have higher, lower camp? No, higher. Yeah, higher.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Okay, and Yokic is at 28 and a half points. Do you have them higher, lower mace? Yeah, everything with Joker, you go higher. Yeah, I'm going to go higher as well. Okay, make sure you'll download the Underdog app and you can make your picks too. So we're going to start with the Spurs. So the Spurs defeated the Mab's 125 to 92. Cooper Flagg made his official debut.
Starting point is 00:34:06 So, Mike, one, how do you rate Cooper Flagg's debut? And then how did Wimby look to you? Listen, I'm glad you said that, the way you said it now, you know, because that's exactly what everybody's looking at. We first look at, all right now, they traded Luca for Cooper flag, y'all send us Cooper. Let's see what Cooper can do. But I'm going to tell you what caught my game in all of this, what caught my eye in all of this, you know, because I look at the matter of seeing, they're going to have a good squad
Starting point is 00:34:36 with A.D. Cooper, especially when Kyrie gets back off the chalk. you got a shot with that team, especially when Calgary get that. But I was looking at AD, and I remember when AD was with New Orleans and ran up and down the film. He looked like, you know, that's a man, that's what I'm saying. That's a big dude running up and down with the Lakers. Lakers, you mean? Or the Pelican? Yeah, AD.
Starting point is 00:35:01 No, AD with the math, with the map. When he was worse with the New Orleans, he was in New Orleans first before LeBron. Yeah. Plus, I got him to the leg, Lake. Right, right. So, so, so dude, I don't, this is a big dude right up and down the court. That's, what, y'all, y'all, y'all.
Starting point is 00:35:21 I don't know how he said, but he makes A.D. looks like a little peep's sweet. I'm like, look at this dude, too, he is so lanky. He is so lanky and moving up and down the floor. It's like they threw him out of you, why he was at the Freeto line, he's still dumped it. It was amazing, man. And you can see him now getting used to the pounding.
Starting point is 00:35:46 And he's even to giving the pounding now in the paint. When they were kind of putting them out a little bit, Paul, you know, I'm talking about the baby. I can't even say praying. I'm talking about the play down in the post. I think he's such a big dude. Like, I don't, I don't see him enough in the post. You know, you always see them up by the three.
Starting point is 00:36:08 get you a hundred feet tall, get down by the bottom of the basket. But, but, but he can play the whole court. It, he's an incredible, incredible talent. I never seen anybody that big and that skillful moving up and down the court. Yeah, I think, I think this is a win for, for Dallas, even though he's, Cuba flag only has 10 points. And, but he has 10 rebounds. So I think just him showing up showing that he could, um,
Starting point is 00:36:38 B, at this point, a double double against somebody like Wembe is great for the first game because as the season go on and he has Karee, he's going to turn into a real, a real monster on this team. I like the way this team look, but I do like the way that, you know, the Spurs look. I think the Spurs is realistically going to be probably the new team to beat on the rise, like as a young player's because when they get Harper, in that mix, I'm not sure how they put him in Castle. The moment him and Castle is in the back court with Wimby,
Starting point is 00:37:17 they're going to be a problem to the whole entire league because the length of that team pause is going to be too crazy and they're too athletic and they got powerful scores from each position on the perimeter. Just remember I said this, it's not my team or anything like that. Who is your team? This year, I'm going to go. This year, where we go this year?
Starting point is 00:37:38 Yes, I mean, because things change. Obviously, with you, we know that. Things change. Things change. Who's your team? That's all I asked you one question. You're cutting me off. No, well, you're right.
Starting point is 00:37:48 You're not in a moment. When you said this year, it just, it triggered you. Yeah, it did. It did. It did. It did. It actually did this year. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Sorry, you're right. I'll cut you off. Who is your team? You're right. I wasn't triggered by this year. Okay. Okay. I'm going with Houston.
Starting point is 00:38:10 I'm going with Houston. I'm going with it. I'm going with... OkC was your team last year? No, that wasn't my team. Okay. I didn't go okay, see. But I'm going with Houston.
Starting point is 00:38:24 And I really like that team. I really like the way they looked at first game. I'm going to go with Houston and I'm going to go with the Knicks out of the east. Why are you laughing? Yeah, this niggas crazy, man. All right, then no Knicks, then. You can go with the Knicks? No, I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:38:52 If that's your pick the goal, that's fine. Not because I think that's who's going to go to the championship, but I say who's your team. Okay. I think the Knicks will make the championship, but that's not my team. That's why I ask you who. But if you got to think about who your team here,
Starting point is 00:39:07 Yeah, I'll just go at Houston for now. Oh, this is the time to stamp it. You're talking about for now. Like, this is who you're with at least until January because I can't even give you the full season. The thing about Stapbin with Miami, University, Pittsburgh, the whole time. And the heat, is the heat still yet to you? Oh, you Swiss.
Starting point is 00:39:29 That's crazy. That's crazy. Listen, listen. What happened in Triple H or whatever. It's a double H. It's not W. It's triple H. That's a Russian.
Starting point is 00:39:37 The heat is still my team, but I have a very close second, and I'm thinking about my transfer. Oh, my goodness. Listen, listen, I'm thinking about my transfer request. Oh, my goodness. And it's valid. You're transferred. Listen, are you in a portal now?
Starting point is 00:39:56 It might be, NLA, NIL, things are changing. Like, you have to make a decision that makes sense for you. And I have valid reasons. And I was literally going to bring a whole paper to tell you guys why I'm like here you keep this stuff you're going to be doing this show by yourself I don't have time for this today are you are you in the portal about your team and the NBA really there's no portal for the NBA is though because when you have what's going on in my brain there's a reason why and a very strong reason share it for the people so
Starting point is 00:40:36 so they can follow you. Guys, okay, Mike, you're listening too, correct? And let me explain why. I love Miami down, okay? I was always a heat fan. But one of the main reasons also why I really liked Miami because when they made the Jimmy Butler Jade, Jimmy Butler is one of my favorite players,
Starting point is 00:40:55 first and foremost. Second of all, Steph has always been my goat, right? So just hearing that alone, who do you guess? Who do you guess? It's like very... Is your goat? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I can hear that nonsense, but if... I'm sorry. I'm sorry. So now you're a golden state. What is he? Look at Cam. Cam is riding off. I'm calling it and I already see you like.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Listen, it's valid though. It's really valid. I'm sorry. And I've been to a lot of Warriors games. I'm just like, it's really... I didn't claim it yet. but my heart what happened to triple h or triple j triple h is what happened to triple j ain't nothing happened to triple j it's just like when you see the pieces that we got right now
Starting point is 00:41:47 i'm not going to win i'm just believing because my favorites are on the same team right now so why would i not why would i not you feel me mike like i don't know how to explain it all your favorite players are on the same team right because i'm a maverick fan But I love Miami also because that's our origin. Thank you. I'm a huge Laker fan because Luca went to the Laker. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Mike, you're not, Mike, Luca is not in Dallas no more. How are you following him to L.A.? Jerry Jones would not approve of this, Mike. You can follow the player but still have love for the team. Jerry Jones would not approve of this. This is not playmaker worthy. Yeah, I'm telling y'all, though, I'm tell you, because I love Luca, I love how great, his grit, I love how tough he is. It hurt me to see him get traded.
Starting point is 00:42:45 The best way I could deal with, the pain is I've just sent a piece of my heart with him to the Lakers and stay, just stay tight with you like that. I, you know, so yeah, that's why even the day when it said Maritz, I thought Luca. I really thought Luca. So, yeah, I got to be a Laker fan with that. Mike, we don't know what you're talking about, Mike. I don't know what you're talking. I'm just saying I follow the player. Like she's saying she's following Jim and Butler.
Starting point is 00:43:14 And she always loves Steph. Yes. If they stays separate. So now, wait, wait, Mike. So you follow Luca to L.A. And Statt is now saying she followed Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler to Golden State. Oh, this is worse than I.
Starting point is 00:43:32 ever done I don't ever want to hear about me anymore this is this is crazy Larry are you hearing this that talking about step is a goat and now Jimmy Butler is out there so she followed him she's in the transfer the transfer portal about the NBA this is crazy I can't make this up I'm sorry Mike understands we're here and if you understand too I just came back and I walked in, I didn't even hear any new team is, but it makes just enlighten me. Mike got a right, and I'm not even saying he got a real right.
Starting point is 00:44:08 But Jimmy Bullet ain't no lifelong Miami heat nigger. I know. How are you following him? So at least Luca played for Dallas his whole career. This nigga played Minnesota, Chicago, Philadelphia. You're like, I'm going to go follow Jimmy Ballet. He's not like he's been there for two, three, four years. I know.
Starting point is 00:44:25 I always liked heat culture, especially when I went to school in Miami, being in Miami, like Miami's always going to be a part of me. I like Tyler Hero. I like the players. These are newer players. You're from Jacksonville, stat. You don't have a team. But stuff was always my, stuff was always my goat.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Steph has always been my favorite player ever. And I was like, I'm not a warrior's friend yet because we're going to just Miami games. This is my thing. Like, I'm going through the trenches with them. Like, we're having a rebuild. And then Jimmy, they up. And then Jimmy Butler's having the time of his life over there. So I'm like, if I'm going to claim it, I got about.
Starting point is 00:44:59 about a week because the week just started for the NBA season to have its debut. Oh, so if I'm gonna stamp it, I need to decide by the end of the week. So I'm deciding right now and I'm- This is desperation. And I'm gonna figure out if I'm gonna stay at my school or if I'm gonna leave.
Starting point is 00:45:14 That's all. This is desperation. Listen, first of all, what you just says, total bullshit. Let me tell you saying, Miami culture, when you like, he culture, it starts with Pat Rowley. Yes. Pat Riley's still there, so heat culture is still
Starting point is 00:45:29 there. Yes. So what is you just trying to talk about heat culture and Jimmy Butler? Yeah. Like what you're talking about? Pat Riley is he culture and he's still there. So what you're talking to Mike? Yes, but I didn't I didn't like obviously Pat Riley is one of the biggest parts of it, but he's the he's the part, yes. But for me, I might be at the point where I'm following the players that I like and as you watch more basketball, you grow to like more players and those were my favorite players. As you watch more basketball. First of all, first of all, I just walked back in.
Starting point is 00:46:06 She said the reason, like, she's going with Jimmy Butler is because he's having the time of his life. He's not there to have the time of his life. He's there to play basketball and win games, and they did not do that last year. What is the time? I'm saying, no, I'm saying that's adding, like, Jimmy Butler was already one of my favorite players.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Like, for me, that was stamped middle school. Jimmy Butler is always one of my favorite players, but Steph Curry is my goat. So I always liked the Warriors, but I was never a Warriors fan. But now you got two of my favorite players on the same team. I'm just deciding. That is all. They say on the internet, they know when you're lying
Starting point is 00:46:39 because you bang the table when you talk. No, I do that when I'm making a point. I don't know what I'm making a point. I'm trying to stop, man. I was counting. I was counting. I'm highly disgusted to everybody up here. I'm very, I'm just, I'm really honest with what I'm highly disgusted.
Starting point is 00:47:01 Anyway, my team has been in the Spurs for the last 30 years, and we looked super good last night. I don't forget, I had all my shit organized or what I was going to talk about, but this shit just threw me all the way off. When murder started that talking about, this year, Mike talking about he following Luca. That's the first time I even heard this stuff's her goat.
Starting point is 00:47:24 She's been working here for, this is our seventh season. I've never heard stuff's a goat. Yeah, stuff is your goat as well. I've never heard that. I'll say this, man. We looked damn good last night, man, the Spurs. And I wish I would have placed a bet before our first game. Then I'm telling you right now, outside of injury,
Starting point is 00:47:43 Wemby is going to win MVP and defensive player of the year, especially, I'm going to say I'm not going to go MVP, defensive player of the year, definitely. But if we make the playoff, the Spurs, that is, even if it's an eight seat, Wimby is going to get MVP this year. I've never seen anybody do what Wembe has done last night against Dallas.
Starting point is 00:48:03 Now, we've seen Kevin Durant come out and shoot lights out. And Kevin Durant is probably the best pure scorer. You know, you got Carmelo Anthony, Michael Jordan, and, you know, Kevin Durant, top three, top four for me, pure scores. If you want to put me on top of the list, I wouldn't even be mad at that. But what Wembe was doing last night,
Starting point is 00:48:21 off the dribble, locking shots, dunking on people, Alley's, reverse and ones. He looked really, really, really good. And Deerrin Fox didn't even play. The Spurs look like they may have a complete team. I want to give a big shout to Harrison Barnes because I was like, damn, Harrison Barnes is starting. We have to think about the longevity of Harrison Barnes.
Starting point is 00:48:45 You know, he gets lost in the mix because he's been to a few different teams. He's on a Spurs, pardon me not the Spurs, Golden State, when they won a championship. Then when KD came, you know, they had, He ended up trading. You went to Sacramento, then he was at Dallas. Right. And Orlando, too, if I'm not mistaken.
Starting point is 00:49:02 But for the longevity, I want to give him a shout out. Back to Cooper Flagg. Cooper Flag, if you watched the game, outside of the numbers, play like shit. He didn't look good at all. But the end of the day, Wimby made everybody look bad. It wasn't just Cooper Flag. AD looked bad. AD looked like a little nigger.
Starting point is 00:49:21 He was just, yo. That told him. He just, yo, AD looked like. Like a little nigger, man, because I watched this whole game up until probably the middle of the fourth quarter. And since cities here in the building, big time, Nick Finn, if you could count the amount of times, we were around the TV to say, nah, he ain't just do that. Nah, he just didn't do that.
Starting point is 00:49:42 We were around the TV at least 14 different times on different plays that Wembe did to watch the game was really amazing. I think Cooper Flagg didn't play well because I don't think Jason Kidd used him in a right way pause and I think that and shout out to Kenny Charles and Shaq they look you know everybody's talking about the T&T thing but they look really good on ESPN as well they look really good and Kenny Smith alluded to this that I don't think Jay and I was saying the same thing before he said it but they wasn't using them in the right way they was trying to use them as semi two guards sometime point guard distributing the ball not running place he's a three
Starting point is 00:50:21 put them at the three let them slash let him get the ball let him penetrate or off the dribble, and I don't think that Jason Kidd used him in the right capacity. Now, when Kari gets back, we understand that. That'll be a different thing. But then you also got DeAngelo Russell coming off the bench. So you need to start DeAngelo Russell, if I'm Dallas, get Cooper flag off the ball, and let him do his thing on the wing, because there's really no real true point guard until Kari comes back. And DeAngelo Russell is a decent point guard.
Starting point is 00:50:54 He knows how to distribute, knows how to score, but I don't like the way that they used Cooper flag yesterday, Jason Kit, that is. Okay. I think, I, Kim, I think they're using them right in that sense, because you're exactly right. They're telling him to get on the ball, handle everything, point. They're giving him a fast learning curve, a fast learning curve, but they know they got Kyrie coming back. You know, and Kyrie's going to handle that point. and then when you start working him back in, and this kid, and this Cooper Flagg kid,
Starting point is 00:51:28 has handled the ball that much by the time Karee comes back, he'll be way more comfortable, even playing those other spots and playing off the ball. Right now, it seems like a lot of pressure, and that was a lot of pressure. You know, I would have taken it. I like the approach, but I'm with you in this sense. Let's not do it for the first game.
Starting point is 00:51:50 Let them play his natural. position for the first game just to get past that first game and first game gidders. But then I want him to take all of these opportunities because the championship or the opportunity for
Starting point is 00:52:05 a championship is going to come between him, Kyrie, and AD. We need him to grow and learn fast. And the only way you're going to do that is by getting these opportunities and pushed right in the flame. You've got to start
Starting point is 00:52:21 cooking right now. Mike, I was in agreement with you until you switched up midstream. When you start talking about how he needs, when Kari comes back, no, this is the number one pick. This is supposed to be his team. So you're running the ball through, pause, whose team is supposed to be? And when you got the ball in his hand, I think they actually saved them and spared them, um, contrary to what Killer said, because if you put them at the three,
Starting point is 00:52:51 And somehow he ends up against Wemby, he gets embarrassed even more on his first debut. And I think the city of Dallas could not have afford for him to go out there and have six points and eight rebounds. It would have been horrible. It's great that it looked like 10-10, even though Killers say he played horrible. If he's at the three, he's closer to being guarded by Wembe. He's closer to having to be with Wembe. By you putting them at the point, you're actually protecting his image for that first game.
Starting point is 00:53:25 That's what I looked at it as. Right, well, that flea wasn't protected. Wembe comes in at the five. Nobody was protected. And I'm not just down in Cooper Flagg. Wendby made everybody look bad yesterday. And you gotta think about this. His real matchup was Anthony Davis.
Starting point is 00:53:43 Because he's handled so good and shoot so good and dribbled so good, you're looking at him like, this is a three. When he's coming in at the five. You know, when you got the five, Anthony Day, I can go like with Cooper Flagg. I'm not disagreeing with any of you guys when it comes to Cool Flats.
Starting point is 00:54:00 That was just my taking. The thing about it is there's a bunch of different ways you can use them. Pause. But when you got Anthony Davis looking like, yeah, Anthony Davis is, when he's not hurt, Anthony Davis could be a top five, top, definitely top 10 player.
Starting point is 00:54:18 Everybody looked bad last night. Everybody, man. It looked bad. It looked really bad, man. Yeah. And height-wise, it's just like Anthony Davis when he got a two guard on him. It's the same difference in height.
Starting point is 00:54:32 So even though he's a big man, he looks like a guard trying to guard a big man. And that's just how it looked because of height. Okay, so the Knicks defeated the Cavs 119 to 11. So, Mike, how do you feel about the way the Knicks are starting off their season? That was a great start. I was looking at this, and I think the Knicks played like 13 people in that game, you know,
Starting point is 00:54:59 and that's going to be a conversation right now, you know, because, you know, coach only played a short list on that bench, and those guys having the energy, it was, you know, it's about those guys, the Knicks having the energy for late in the season and into the playoffs by playing way more than just. just those first six, seven, eight players like, like coach was doing last year. I thought that was a great start for them. And of course, that little man, Jalen Bronson is just, he's just a beast. He's just a little beast. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:35 I thought I was a little bit surprised with how Jalen Brunson played. I thought he would go for more, but I really, I really like the way he distributed. You're 23, 23, and then nobody at 24. I mean, you know, it was first game. It was his first game. Yeah, I understand that, but I thought it would go even just pick a way he left off. But I like the idea of him getting everybody else involved. O.G. did his thing.
Starting point is 00:56:02 I mean, and when you got this team playing like that, I think this is the mindset. I would like to see him keep up. And then when he needs to take over, take over, because if this team is playing great and you have two other players, you got Kat, you got OG, You got your boy coming off to the bench, I'm Clarkson, and you get all of them going, then when the season progresses, they'll be able to win more of those bigger games
Starting point is 00:56:28 because they'll have more firepower. So this is the mindset that I think as a point guard, he definitely got to get them involved. And I was happy to see him take a page out of Title Town's book. It sounds like he's listening to me. And I would like him to keep up to good work, you know. look we got a nick fan to build it so how you feel about your winning last night man I give you a minute and a half good how you feel about it man because you was in my house
Starting point is 00:56:54 jumping around jumping up and down you really ultimate nick fin got it man you know why because y'all talk about the Cleveland calves and how they're the best team in the east and we literally toyed with them the first half you know you were scared at the end of the game I wasn't scared I wasn't scared. You were scared. We watched it together. You were scared. Are they still one of the best teams?
Starting point is 00:57:20 Who? The Cavs. They should be this first game of the season. We turned the Boston Celtics to the Massachusetts Celtics. We dismantled them. There's no more Celtics. The Massachusetts Celtics. We played the Cavs like they was the Wizards tonight.
Starting point is 00:57:36 I'm just letting you know. Anyway, we always go too far on this show. Everybody. Everybody just always goes too far. I told Killers, I said, all of the niggas always go too far. Always go too far. They can't ever stop.
Starting point is 00:57:49 Everybody goes too far. Look, I watched the game. It was a really good game. The Knicks looked really good, a lot of balance. But what the Knicks didn't do is they didn't never really pull away. Pause. And that's what I'm alluding to. It was times they could have pulled away.
Starting point is 00:58:06 You know, I fell asleep. Those doors off the first half this, this nigga want to bet me some money. I look up if the score is tied then I wake up I watch the whole second half and the Knicks stayed up primarily by 8, 10 points
Starting point is 00:58:19 throughout the third and fourth quarter but it's times where it cut to four points cut to three points and Cleveland didn't take advantage of it you know what I don't like Mace
Starting point is 00:58:28 I hate one niggas seven feet think they worked on their game over the summer and now they got a three that's what Mowbly did he fucked the game up they actually they'll be honest with you
Starting point is 00:58:38 they actually could yeah they actually We had a couple times to come back and tie the game up or take the lead, but these niggas be like, oh, let me work on my game. Let me show them. Now you got Mowgli bringing it up thinking he wouldn't beat and he's missing threes
Starting point is 00:58:52 instead of getting it in Donovan Mitchell's hands, who had a hot hand in the third quarter. But this is what happens. But I thought the Knicks should have won this game. It was at home and they did win the game. But as far as Cleveland, they have opportunities to come back, but they didn't. But I thought the Knicks looked very good.
Starting point is 00:59:08 Mike Brown, first game, coaching. Like Mike said, he got a lot of people involved. Jordan Clarkson didn't make a big impact this game, but I think he has time to get in the system, but learn the system, and everybody's learning a new system because it's Mike Brown. But the Knicks look really decent. I just didn't like the fact that they didn't pull away when they cut up,
Starting point is 00:59:29 but they still won by a decent amount of points. They won by eight points, but it's time where they could have won by. Let's solidify the conference. Yeah, by 12, 15. Yeah, let's win this by 15 and solidify the conference. I think Donovan, Donovan, Mitcher, if you're watching this, you've got to become way more selfish. Like, the last couple of years, you've been leaving it up to other people. I know one time you was hurt and you just sat out.
Starting point is 00:59:53 You could have came back that time, too. But you got to be very selfish. You've got to be very inconsiderate. If you're going to make this Cavalist team beat the next, you're going to have to be very inconsiderate. Right now, you're too considerate. Yep. And to the next credit, it's right? And also real quick, real quick, and also to the next credit, Josh Hart didn't play.
Starting point is 01:00:14 So, no, he's a very important piece of that. But also, but Donovan, guys, he's going to need some more help. And that's why these guys have to step up. And the playoff, Donovan Mitchell was exhausted. Remember that game? He was carrying them. And he was exhausted. I remember they got to take him out, rest and then get back them on, get them back to him on,
Starting point is 01:00:34 get them back to him on offense. So, so, yeah. I want him to be aggressive. That's what you're talking about. Flu game, right? Flue game. The whole game. Right, right.
Starting point is 01:00:45 And it was the first game, but I'm telling you, I watched him in the playoff. He was exhausted. Yeah, I remember that. And I didn't mention it before, because this is my great friend. I love my guy. I love my duo, Coach Tibbs.
Starting point is 01:00:58 I know New York, y'all kicked them on out, you know. You know, but I love those kids. Yeah, we kicked them all out. My dude, man. Yeah, that was a guy. about due. Okay. And then last one before we wrap. So Sixers rookie Vijay Edgcombe made history in the Sixers versus Celtics game. He finished with 34 points for the third highest scoring NBA debut ever behind Frank Selvey and Wilt Chamberlain. So we saw how Cooper Flagg was kind of facing, I don't want to
Starting point is 01:01:28 say backlash, but people like, I guess expected more from him. So the argument that social media has been saying is that we need more players from the struggles. So, Mike, how do you feel about that? Do you think that has anything to do with it or nothing at all? Wait, wait, wait, right? More people for the struggle. Right, right. So this is the reverse of the Tom Brady.
Starting point is 01:01:51 Yeah. Yeah. Now we came down the way. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Hey, I mean, this is, you know, man. Oh, that's funny right there, man. You know, is that them getting at Cooper Flag because he didn't have that struggle coming up and put up what it is because he had his struggle coming up. You know, Cooper Flagg has a lot of pressure on him to perform.
Starting point is 01:02:27 And it's not just, you know, being the first pick. It's also what we're talking about. Everybody's looking at him. Dude, they gave this you and took him. Look, Luca, you got to do something. You know what I mean? That's pressure in that. And then we just talked about it.
Starting point is 01:02:44 He pops out and he has to be the primary on the ball where Luca was. So, yeah, I mean, I don't know if I can reverse it this way and talk about it. That's like we talked about it with the Tom Brady situation. I understand what, what the social media is, that's what you're saying, is talking about because all of us. That's the one thing Bishop and I was talk about. You know, we grew up in such a time that we didn't have much, and we wanted to work hard and give our kids, you know, everything that we didn't have.
Starting point is 01:03:19 He said, sometimes the best thing we could give our kids is our struggle to toughen them up, like to toughen us up. And that's what they're talking about. But, but yeah, I want to get Cooper Flagg a little more time before we just start saying he wasn't the one And the guy that was struggling so much is the one. We only got one game in. Well, well, actually, Mike, this is exactly what we're talking about.
Starting point is 01:03:46 The kid, Edgecombe, he comes from, what's that, Bahamas, Bahit. How you said, Bimini? Bimini. Bimini. He comes from Bimini. He goes to Florida, you know, hometown again. Then transfers to New York or Long Island, hometown again. So he's going through all of these struggles.
Starting point is 01:04:07 He's actually here for this. He came to... Sorry, I just want to add, because he was also, when he was growing up, he was living off of, like, the generator and had limited resources and all that stuff. So that was part of the story of why he was crying at the draft. But you can keep going.
Starting point is 01:04:21 Yeah, but then even his name, Edgecombe, I used to live on Edgecombe. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Mike, I'm taking a page out of your book now. I'm not to set it up now. I walk you from the Bahamas to Florida, to Long Island, to Hedgecombe. So being that he got the name, he got struggle written all over him. He got to show up.
Starting point is 01:04:57 And I'm just happy that he was able to put together this kind of performance and hopefully keeps up the good work. First of all, real quick, you know, when I talked about Cooper Flag and we're not going to make a big deal out of this, this is one game. Cooper Flag is going to be all right. He's going to have a very decent career. That's first and foremost. So let's not take out of context his NBA debut into how his career is going to look. And the reason that we're talking about Cooper Flag or criticizing Cooper Flag is because we know his greatness.
Starting point is 01:05:29 The reason that people are even aware of Cooper Flag, I'm talking about. the casual basketball fan is because when he practiced with the Olympic team that year, he was that nigger and everybody talked about him. He didn't go to the Olympics, but leading up to the Olympics in practice,
Starting point is 01:05:44 you got KD talking about him. You got LeBron talking about him. He had AD. All the American basketball players were like, yo, the best player today that played was Cooper Flagg. And this is when he was still in high school. Let's also keep in mind with Cooper Flagg
Starting point is 01:05:56 that he got skipped a grade. Cooper Flagg was really a senior in high school when he was a junior. He's a freshman in college when he's supposed to be a senior in high school. He's a rookie in the NBA when he's supposed to be a freshman in high school. So let's not just sit here and act like Cooper Flag is not good. He's younger than he's supposed to be in the NBA. And he's also a year ahead of itself because he was great academically.
Starting point is 01:06:19 So this is not a shit on Cooper Flag party, not for me anyway. That's what I want to get out the way. It was just not a good debut from what I watched. So that's first or foremost. Secondly, before we even get to Edgecombe, let's talk more about the Philadelphia 76ers. Paul George is not playing. Where's podcast P?
Starting point is 01:06:38 Is he podcasted or is he not just injured? What's the situation? Every year we have to go through this with podcast P. But he's not playing. Let's think about Joe L.M.B. He didn't play the whole year and still have four points. I'm like, bro, we took the year off to start the year off like this. And I don't want to damn play anybody's injuries.
Starting point is 01:06:59 or what they're going through or anything else. But I said to myself, you know, not off the show. And I said, if anybody had a real chance in the East to compete with the Knicks, a healthy, healthy Philadelphia 76ers team could compete. If you got Paul George Focus, if you got a healthy Joe L&B, we see Tyrese at 40 points last night.
Starting point is 01:07:21 He came in with 40. I think that's a big story as well. And they actually won the game. But what are we? beginning out of Philly, year after year, from the gentleman, man, Joe, shout to my nigga out in Brann. Oh, Brand don't want me to bring his name up on the show no more.
Starting point is 01:07:39 He said, don't call me about shit, Cam, because we used to play basketball together, me and Al and Bram with Riverside Church. But I had called him for some information. He said, Cam, that ship doesn't sell. And when I see you, I see you. Don't call me a dead ass. He said, don't bring my name up on the show.
Starting point is 01:07:56 You know, that nigga. You put him out, Ken, you put him out of the Allen Brin. He gave him some information and you put it out. No, no, no. I just said his name, but you know what? No, I would never do that. I don't ever do anything like that. But you know, Elton Brand is clean, cut, and we kind of edgy up here.
Starting point is 01:08:15 So when he go to work, he's like, Cam, you're man. He's like, we play basketball together. Riverside. Yeah, I'm not going to say. It was a church team. It was a church team. Exactly. So basically, when I want information,
Starting point is 01:08:31 he put me with the head of public relations for the 76es. But I would never, if somebody tells me something off the record, I don't do that. I don't say here and disclose it. But Aldenbren's a great friend of my childhood friend, but we used to play ball. But he's like, Kim, listen, I live a low-key life. When you want to know something about Philadelphia 76s,
Starting point is 01:08:50 this is who you call. So. He's straight. Yeah, he was straight. Just straight out of laser. Yeah, so. There'll be good men that depotry you all got going on. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:09:02 100% correct. And he's never told me anything, anything like that. It's just a childhood friend. And sometimes I see him. Yeah, but Philadelphia, like I said, before the season started, I was saying if they're healthy, maybe they compete with the Knicks. But we don't know what we're getting for them. But I do want to give a shot to Tyrese Maxie.
Starting point is 01:09:24 And I do want to give a shout to Edgecom. It's a great debut. But to me, this is more about the shit the sin gets mad about being that he's in studio today. Mace made a great layout for Edgecombe. And when I say that is this, is that American players are spoiled and players that come from other countries,
Starting point is 01:09:42 overseas, Canada, the Bahamas, are getting better than the players from America. Because when they come here... Look at this face. Yeah, because when they come here, we've got to realize this. think about this right when when think about let's just use the joker for example joker was a championship he don't want to go to parade he trying to get back home to race horses and
Starting point is 01:10:02 all type of dumb shit because he wants to go home these players come here for the money they don't come here for their comfortability they go back home when the season's over and take the bread it takes the money you think about the Greek freak he wins the championship he goes back to Greece he they go home so players that come over here are here really for work when american are already home, not necessarily in the city that they live in, but they're home already in the country that they're at. And I'm not saying we don't have great American players. We do.
Starting point is 01:10:33 But we're seeing the flux of players from out the country doing better. And we're going to see this All-Star weekend when you have the international team versus the Americans. And I don't know how serious this game would be, but I think that the people from international will take it way more serious than Americans. You think about the starting lineup of Luca, the Greek, Greek freak, the Joker. SGA. SGA.
Starting point is 01:10:58 You know. It gets crazy. It gets crazy. And Wimby. And Wimby, that far right there. Yeah, that fire right there. Wimby, SGA, Luca. The Joker.
Starting point is 01:11:13 The Joker. And who is the, and the Greek Freak. And Greek Freak. Yeah, that's it. It's over. Yeah, it's old. Yeah, thank you. It's over.
Starting point is 01:11:22 Yeah. And the way they see it. They're coming to fight Big Brother. Y'all been taking it with Big Brother, we got you. And they're going to play together for all of their different countries against Big Brother of, you know, Big America. That is going to be done. Right.
Starting point is 01:11:39 And don't let Kyrie start talking about his ancestors. That niggas is really in charge. Let my God Kai say his ancestors. Yeah. Now, guys, you're on that. Kyle fish, kosh, you know, with the international.
Starting point is 01:11:58 You take it's crazy. Oh, stop. Yeah. Cofy Kyle. Yeah, y'all play if y'all want. Cause you're with the tassels on his sneakers. It's over for you. Yeah, you got 30 seconds.
Starting point is 01:12:11 What's you mad about? Yes. So, wait, you're telling me your man, Shea butter, whatever you call SGA, was he better than Kenny Anderson at 17 in high school? But this is not 17 in high school?
Starting point is 01:12:22 I meant, you said, the American players are spoiled. Was he better than Marbury at that time? Was he better than Kenny Anderson? We're talking about 30 years ago. You're talking about... That's 30 years ago, sir?
Starting point is 01:12:35 You don't realize it's 30 years ago. He wasn't better than Kenny Anderson. Marbury graduated high school in 1995. Okay. That's 30 years ago. He got Omar Cook on his mind. That's the way he at. What I'm trying to tell you is this,
Starting point is 01:12:48 is that you think about somebody like Tony Parker, right? He says the reason he changed. from soccer, the basketball is because of the dream team, it's because of Michael Jordan, it's because Charles Barkley, is because of Scotty Pippen. So you have these players idolize the NBA players 30 years ago, and they're getting better year after year after year because they say, this is what we want to do.
Starting point is 01:13:09 And then you look at the money they can make and go back home and say, fuck it, why not? But you're equivalent to today's people with the people you grew up with and having an attitude about it. Like now, your face just says it all. you got a whole attitude about it. I don't understand.
Starting point is 01:13:24 But you said because they come from somewhere else, their struggle is more of our struggle. I'm not saying they're struggling. I'm saying they're fighting to play here. It's only 480 players in the NBA. It's millions and maybe 10, if not hundreds, definitely tens of millions of basketball players.
Starting point is 01:13:40 So when you're sitting there saying, if I get a chance to play, I think that they're taking it more. Not saying I don't want a dis-American players, but the proof is in the pudding. Right. I'm not saying that make a lot. Right. And a lot of them are coming from countries that don't have much.
Starting point is 01:13:56 So, you know, they ain't got, that the whole country ain't got much. You know what I'm saying? So, so, yeah. Mike, talk to sin. That's a huge. Now, if you're talking about baseball, then I, we're talking about basketball. Sin, let me actually. So the top, the top, who's your top 10?
Starting point is 01:14:14 Top 10 players. Is it five of my record? Let's do top five basketball players right now. And we could close the show where everybody's a person. Who's your top five? Jalen Bronson? Okay, forget it. Forget it. Just forget it. Forget it.
Starting point is 01:14:29 Forget it. I was a crazy. No, he's definitely being in the top five. Go ahead. Go with your top five. Let's hear it. Ant man. Ant man. Cat. Cat.
Starting point is 01:14:41 K.D. Cat? You got two Knicks on there. You got two Knicks on there. Yeah, let him finish, man. I want all of us to give our list. We're supposed to give our list. I want all of us to get your list.
Starting point is 01:14:54 Go ahead, Cat, Ant Man, who you was dissing to Ant Man, but go ahead, Ant Man, Cat. I wasn't because you just compared them to Jordan. We got to slow down. Who's your fifth person, sir? I don't know. Because he can't be American. You can't even pick murder.
Starting point is 01:15:11 Who you got? I got Joker at the 5. I got Wimby at the 4. Yeah. I got, um, Katie at the 3. I got, um, Ant Man at the two, and I got, um, Luca at the point. I'm gonna go with, I'm gonna, Shay, you could, you could swap. Yeah, Shay, Shade for Luca.
Starting point is 01:15:36 I'm going with, I'm going to Shay at the point. I'm gonna keep, I'm gonna play, matter of fact, I'm going two point guards. I'm going Shay and Luca. You could swap it out, whoever you want to play one and two. You don't got Ant Man as a guard? I think Luca at this point is better than Ant Man still. Just my personal opinion. I think Ant Man is more athletic.
Starting point is 01:15:59 I think Ant Man is more exciting. But if you need a basket, Luca just had 40. He had 40 with the Lakers. Highest debut with the Lakers. I'm going to make the face sentence making it. Do you think the Ant Man is better than Luca? I'm going with Ant Man. Yo, let me ask you a question.
Starting point is 01:16:15 Do you know who's the second leading scorer in playoff history? It's Luca. It's Luca, bro. I get all of that. I get what you saying. I get what you said. I like the flash. I was just about to say that.
Starting point is 01:16:26 You know I like the flash. If you like the nigga dunking and doing all this shit, I love Edman. And listen, I think Ant Man is right underneath it that tear. Edman is my nigga. I fuck with him before they make another commercial about me. I'm cool with them. Hey, man, kill us hating on you. I'm not hating you know.
Starting point is 01:16:43 I'm going like the razzle dazzle. I'm going, I'm going. I'm going, I'm going, I fuck with Edman. I think he's great, but I got to go with him. a nigga who's gonna get me a basket, bro. As much as they say, Luca's out of shape and Luca's not doing this, he let that year they went to the championship,
Starting point is 01:16:59 he led the playoffs and steals. Luca can't guard nobody, though. This is true, but niggas can't guard him. I rather say, you know what niggas say? You know what niggas say when nigger guard you? When they be like, when the nigger guard you good and they score, they'd be like, that was great defense,
Starting point is 01:17:16 but better offense. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. So you're right about that, but I'm taking a bucket. I'm going Luca, SGA. Of course, I'm going KD at the three. Got Wemby. But see, you, because the thing about murder,
Starting point is 01:17:35 because Wemby plays so good, you keep thinking they got him at the three and they don't. They got him at the five. He's not the three. No, I put him at the four. What I would you? You can put him at the one. If you want to put the nigger at the one,
Starting point is 01:17:49 You really can put the nigger at the five. You can put them at the one now. The problem is this for me. I'm putting KD there, but you could, the argument is just the last, there's two spots left. You got Wembe, you got Joker, and you got Greek Freaks.
Starting point is 01:18:02 So those are the three, that's six. You can pick whichever two you want to finish it up. Who you got, Mike? Listen, I'm gonna start mine. I'm gonna go with Luca, SGA, and Ant-Man. I'm gonna have them to one, two, three. And yo-regard offense. in Wombie, hey, I'm going to play a three guard
Starting point is 01:18:22 rotation. I'm going to play three guards with giants with giants. We playing back then, Wemba. You know what I mean? And your kids, you won't beat that team. You will not beat that team. Right. Well, in the comments down below, let us know who y'all would choose
Starting point is 01:18:38 saying, I will say Kat is an interesting answer. Jaylon Brunson is crazy. Cat is crazy. Jalen Brunson is second team. You put me on a tape. I don't know about a cat right now. What? You picking Wemby over Tatum.
Starting point is 01:18:51 Jason Tatum is crazy. What are you talking about? You didn't even put Jason Tatum in there. You used wimby, wimby, wimby. Nobody put Jason Tatum in there. Not even you. You didn't even choose. You know, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:19:05 All they do is shoot. I'm just saying. You got some ring. The guy who changed the game. That's second. That's second team. That's not even in the conversation. That thing is what you've done.
Starting point is 01:19:15 That thing is a bucket, fair. Yo, the niggia. SGA owns Stephanie Curry. Yeah, he do. Until further notice. Oh, man, y'all bugger. To further notice, stuff. Steph, y'all hear that?
Starting point is 01:19:26 Steph, the niggas disrespecting you, Steph. No, SGA's disrespects stuff when he called it the Shay area and put it on Instagram and all his highlights of disrespecting stuff. Yeah, that's your light skin side coming out. Oh, man, y'all. Oh, shout out, Steph Curry, all. But that is all the time that we have for today. Mike, you know, it's always a pleasure to have you on the show.
Starting point is 01:19:46 And Sin City and Larry. Yeah, man. Didn't get to say it. Anson and Larry, we appreciate y'all. Mike, good to see you, man. We see you on Monday morning, man. All right, guys. All right.
Starting point is 01:19:59 Sit down. Thank y'all for watching. And as always, it is what it is. What you want, nigger? Everything nigger super size Two big necks Like when they doing them two for five
