What's up?
What's going on with the next colors?
What's this about?
Or are you doing this cause Pat gets got his contract with the Broncos and he's
the highest, so it's not just regular.
What are these colors for today? What does this represent? Cause I know it's a he's the highest. It's not just regular, what are these colors for today?
What is this representing?
Because I know it's a method behind the madness.
What's going on with this?
You know, it's money, Tom.
Oh, okay.
I got his money, the Broncos.
You know.
You know.
We just celebrating the winners at Title Town, you know.
You're a wild boy, man. You're a wild boy, man.
You're a wild boy, man.
You wear these colors.
I don't know, I don't really know what kind of
connects you got when it comes to hats and colors
why you always got the right colors at the right time
for some particular reason.
But it seems to work out for you, but
so this is Bronco colors.
This has nothing to do with the Knicks.
Or Gators.
Yeah, Knicks, Florida Gators.
Oh yeah, you know, statues try to be subliminal.
Yeah, I know, I know that.
The swamp, you know.
Okay, okay.
Good to know.
Okay, today we are joined with our analyst Michael Irvin.
Mike was good, Mike.
Man, life is life, man. Everything's good. But, man, I'm the first in this NFL season
about to be popping, dude, you know what I mean?
So I'm looking forward to it.
Hey, man, listen real quick.
I just overheard something that I might not sort of overheard.
And I'm not being greedy,
and I'm not being action for too much.
But Coach Prom, I just got the glasses.
I ain't get the cell phone, Coach.
I hear they got cell phones now, Coach.
I got my glasses.
I gotta bring y'all your glasses, by the way.
Coach Prom sent me glasses for everybody.
I got the, they done.
But I didn't know, we doing cell phones now, Coach Primes?
Please, I need to sell you Coach Primes.
Well, yeah, the time,
let's give him that promo right there.
You see, he sent me that Razor Prime right there.
Ooh!
And what you heard me, right, that's cold.
Look at that right there, look at that thing right there.
Ah!
That's cold!
Ooh!
Hey, and it comes with time on there, you know,
when you hit it up, I'm learning how to use it myself, y'all.
So, see it goes time right there on that thing, man?
That's cold now.
That's tough, man.
Let me tell you the only thing with this.
It came with the phone number.
And it's already used.
I don't know how much time I got on there or anything, right?
So, you know, I'm scared to really put anything in here
cause I don't know who has the iCloud.
Whoever's getting what's coming down.
So...
Mike, you ain't that bond.
Mike say, I don't know who got the iCloud.
My personal information flowing.
I don't know what's going on with that.
I can't sit nothing up if I can't bring that down.
I can't. Let's go. I can't bring that down. Let's go.
That's what's up, man.
Well, Coach Prom, congratulations.
I'll be looking forward to my phone.
Whenever you got time, I didn't even know phones was on.
I take the glasses and I'm happy with that.
But now that I know you got phones, Pretty Tony,
come on, Pretty Tony now.
You got the address, son, son, through.
Now, Mike, we're about to kick off the show.
Wait up, wait up, killer.
Yo, Dion, I need two phones.
I need one for me, and the church need a phone.
I know you want the church to have a phone.
That's the fact. That's the fact.
Now, I looked at our topics today,
stat and murder and Mike,
and I noticed there's something something's not on this.
I wanna ask Mike a personal question
before we actually start the show show.
Yeah.
Mike, are the Dallas Cowboys the best team
in Texas right now?
Oh.
Man, that's a good question, man.
The way Houston Texans over there playing right now,
that's a viable, that's a real realistic question.
We were talking about it today on the show, Stefan Diggs being made a captain over there
and all that he brings to that locker room and that team.
So that's going to be a battle.
Right now, they play Monday night in Dallas.
I promise you, I done had every call from everybody I know,
because you can't get tickets.
I got calls from dudes, from strip clubs,
I hadn't seen in 30 years.
Somebody, we need some tickets, man.
I said, dude, you had got me in 30 years.
I ain't got no tickets for you.
Like, you know, everybody is looking for tickets,
and that's going to be a battle. And it will get determined that night, and that's going to be a battle.
And it will get determined that night
and that's going to be a good game
because Houston, Houston has a stick.
Mike, you didn't answer the question.
I'm just about to say that.
Senator Spence.
I told you, I told you that's a tough question.
That's a hard question.
Let me tell you why too now,
because it takes us beyond the football field.
Houston gonna get that little kid stuff.
You know, like the little brother
that didn't get what they deserved
and thank the big brother, took too much,
and then he plays with that extra oomph.
You know, when we were winning Super Bowls,
the one team I did not want to see
was damn damn Houston, oilers at the time,
when Warren Moon was there.
For some reason, they played with some extra hunk.
You know, just some extra hunk.
So I think Dallas will win that game,
but right now, we're not knowing how Stefan Diggs
will fit in, not seeing it, not seeing it.
That's the only thing that makes me wonder,
because Diggs is another level dude,
and now they have him. I'm gonna take that as me wonder, because Diggs is another level dude,
and now they have him.
I'm gonna take that as, no, the Dallas Cowboys
are not the best team in Texas because you're too...
You know what? That's pretty good, too.
That's pretty good, dawg. Let me tell you something, though, dawg.
I know, hey, I've been dealing with all kinds of lawyers,
all kinds of judges,
so I know you think you're gonna try to sleep me.
You know what I'm saying?
I've been dealing with him for a long time.
All right, I could go for that, Mike.
I'll go for that. But we will see Monday.
Facts. Okay, so...
Yeah, we're gonna, that's going to be a good one.
For sure. Are you going?
Well, to that game, that Monday night game,
I will try to go to that Monday night game.
They're going to want me here to be able to pop on TV
right early that Tuesday.
But here's the thing, I don't go on to Tuesday.
I go to that Monday night game and then fly,
get on the plane and come here early.
So I'm definitely going to try to go.
But you know, I don't make those decisions.
My dollars do.
to try to go, but you know, I don't make those decisions. My dollars do.
I like that.
Yeah.
That's the Mike we like right there.
Must be the money.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Let's go, Mike.
So let's get started.
So these players are starting to get paid.
Quarterback Pat Surtain has agreed to a massive four-year,
$96 million contract extension, becoming the highest paid defensive back in NFL history.
So what are you guys' thoughts and do you guys believe this is too much money?
Mike, I'm gonna let you go first.
Absolutely not.
It's not too much money
because when that tide rises up
and all you're playing all of those top wide receivers,
well, you gotta have somebody that can cover them.
And these top corners,
that means their numbers rise up.
Patrick Sertin, him, his dad, you know,
he's one of those true blueers.
His dad coached him, his dad taught him,
his dad was coaching forever, you know,
played the same position.
He's a smart guy, so gave him a lot, a lot to work with.
He's already physically gifted.
Shoulders down.
And now he has all he needs,
shoulders up, given to him by his father, and now he has all he needs, shoulders up, given to him by
his father, and now he has all he needs in his pockets. The first thing I thought
about too though guys, when because Patrick Surtain is one of the top corners, if not
the top corner right now in the National Football League, I was like man, 96,
almost 100, wide receiver was 135. Yeah Travis Hunter, you did enter the draft
as a wide receiver.
That was my thoughts the first time when I saw the deal.
Yeah, I think his stats is just through the roof.
Like thinking about his first three campaigns
as an NFL player, to have over 100,
what did it say, 187 tackles, one force fumbled, then seven interceptions,
36 deflections.
I mean, it's clear that he's playing defense
and you don't win without defense.
You don't win championships without defense.
So I think this is the first step in the right direction.
Well, I ain't winning now, Murda.
That's why I said the first step in the right direction.
They ain't like they winning now, man.
So I don't know what Bo Nick's gonna come in there and do.
I know we gonna talk about him in a little while,
but shit, they ain't winning now.
This is a lot of money, man.
This is a lot of money, man. This is a lot of money to pay anybody
that's not scoring touchdowns consistently.
Now listen, we're not gonna act like cornerbacks
not a very important position.
Guy and Mike.
Very important.
Yeah, very, very important.
Let me ask you something.
They're very important.
They're very important.
Let me ask you something, Mike.
But we're doing a comparative analysis on dollars.
A comparative analysis. Mike, Mike, Mike, a comparative analysis on dollars. A comparative analysis.
Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike.
Analysts.
A comparative analysis.
Analysts.
What you just said, a comparative analysis.
Comparative analysis.
Okay, okay.
Comparative analysis on dollars.
Okay, I like that.
Right, right.
Mike, you've been hanging out with the Savants.
Right.
No, we like your vocabulary up here, man.
You've been hanging out with the savants, Mike.
I got a wide shot, I underestimated you, man.
Comparing personalities, that's something new.
Wow, okay, Mike, I didn't mean to interrupt you there.
Y'all funny, man, y'all joke is a funny joke.
You know what, man?
Hey, you remember what I just said?
I don't listen to me.
My dollars do all the bolstering around.
So I'm naturally drawn to the dollar that bolsters.
And 96 is great, 135 is a little bit more.
And since I was thinking about Travis Hunter,
I just wanted him to know why I received this position.
I always mess with Deon about that with the kid.
I said, don't force that kid to your position.
Bring him over the mine
and let that man make all this money.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm always digging on him.
Well, listen, the average cornerback's
making about 20 million, so he's making a little bit more.
But at the end of the day,
I didn't know too much about him
until I read about him today.
And look, like I said, I ain't never hating on nobody.
Money, get money, young nigga, get paid,
young nigga, get paid, that's what they say.
Mike, let me ask you a question real quick.
When you went in practice with Deon, how that went?
Was he guarding you?
Oh, man, I love practicing with Deon.
Dude, this was a battle.
I mean, Deon, he's so with Deion. Dude, this was a battle.
I mean, Deion, he's so smart, he actually took my game to another level.
In practice, Deion would be messing around,
he's always watching things,
and there's certain routes I may change my feet on
or get a little lower, and time would say,
man, I know when you do that,
you're going to run that slant route.
I said, oh, okay, thanks for helping me with that.
I appreciate that.
I'm gonna watch that in the game.
But then I go back to the hotel and say,
hey Troy, call that again.
I'm gonna run a slant pump.
Dion's over there, you know?
So what you did was sharpen each other.
You sharpened.
I heard Dion tell the story about why he got,
put that foot back that one time.
When he's playing cornerback, he said,
I came up on Michael, and the Duke,
he was so strong in heaven,
I thought I gotta put a foot behind me,
you know what I mean, to get power back
so I can meet force with force.
So, you know, we kept making each other dig into that bag
to get better.
That's what it means when that word says,
iron sharpens iron.
We were sharpening each other. That's what's up. that word says, iron sharpens iron. We were sharpening each other.
That's what's up.
I definitely want to know,
cause look, both of y'all say that y'all the best
at what y'all do.
Was it a lot of shit talking as well?
Well, Deon didn't talk much.
Okay. Deon didn't talk much.
And Ty, now listen, Ty didn't beat me
until we got to what,
the NFL, you know, of course I was undefeated.
Yeah, okay.
In college and all that stuff.
You know.
At the youth.
He wanted to tell you, he talking about you.
You didn't lose at the youth.
And we were beating him when he was in Atlanta.
Then he went to San Francisco
and they stopped us from winning our three-peat.
That's when I had made a phone call and said,
man, why we doing all this fighting?
Why can't we just play together?
You know what I'm saying?
And he like, hey, I'm on over here.
Let's do this together.
And he came over.
That's what's up.
Okay, so moving along,
Demar Hamlin was named a starting safety
for the first time in nearly
two years for the Bills back in January 2023.
I'm sure we all remember Demar suffered cardiac arrest live during the Bills versus Bengals
game.
So given his remarkable recovery and transition back into the game, how do you guys feel about
Demar Hamlin starting again?
Mike first. I love it. If I'm starting,, my first.
Yeah, I love it if I'm starting. I love it.
I love the story.
It's such a hard situation, the story,
to find that kind of glory in a story like that.
But for all intents and purposes,
we all thought he had left time and gone to eternity
right there on the football
field.
That's the most horrific thing that the NFL, no one wants to see that on football field.
No one wants to diminish the love we have for football.
But when he raises back up, God allowed him to get back up and now he's doing what he's
doing and claiming back his starting job.
That's a phenomenal story.
That's what I was talking about last week
when we talk about things that happen on the football field,
you take it off the football field
and interjecting and gleam something for your real life.
How can you not get inspired or motivated
from that kind of a story?
Same, look, I watched that game live
and for him to even be back playing football
is amazing to me, Mace.
Yeah.
Cause we know, we seen it last year
when he was on the sidelines
and I was thinking to myself that,
okay, he's gonna have a job,
at least Buffalo's gonna take care of him.
And that's what I was thinking.
I didn't think he would probably even be playing football
full-time.
He was on the field here and there last year,
but nothing to capacity like it's about to be a starter.
So I said, you know what?
That's great.
The Buffalo organization is cool.
They're gonna make sure he gets a job.
You know, cause when you're in that situation,
one thing about athletes,
and I'm not gonna say all athletes,
but they've been doing this
since they was five, six years old.
So I'm not saying you can't branch off
and do business and other things,
but this is what they do.
And this is what they love to do.
So when you're able to get back out there,
do what you love to do,
it's a great thing like Mike just said,
but you know, you got family,
you got friends who get scared for you.
And they'd be like, yo, come on,
I don't know if you wanna do this again.
So I'm just happy that he's able to get back out there,
all my prayers are with him and I hope he stays safe.
Yeah, that's kinda, that's kinda why-
My wife, go ahead, go ahead.
Go ahead, Mike, no, you go ahead, Mike,
cause I wanna go live.
But I wanted to tell you right quick,
I wanted to say how you guys hit it
right on the head right there,
cause I remember when I broke my neck in Philadelphia.
I mean, I went around looking for any doctor.
I have cervical stenosis.
That's a narrowing on my spinal column.
Every doctor said, oh, man, you got stenosis.
You got to quit playing.
Any hit could be the next hit could be the last hit.
Man, I didn't want to hear that.
I went around. I found all kinds of Dr. Tompkins.
I said, just give me one that says, I can play.
I got one nut job that says, I think you'll be okay.
I took that, I took that and took it to the Calvary.
I ran back, my woman, my wife said, baby, please,
do not put us through this.
Do not put me through every hit you take me wondering
if it's going to be your last hit.
And she said to me, she said, I know how you are.
When people know you're going to try to prove to people
that you're not afraid and you're going to go in.
And I was like, you know what, you did right.
You did right.
And so, you know, I just had to capitulate
and let that thing go.
And let it go.
First I checked the bank account.
I said, okay, we can let that thing go.
We have to.
But only if I check that account.
If that account went right, broken neck or not,
we got to get back out of here.
That's the only way.
That's the only way.
That's the only way.
That's the only way.
That's the only way. Yeah, cause a lot of out here. That's what I'm talking about. I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
I'll get back out here.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about crowd, my wife, my mother, my son's gonna be in the crowd.
Somebody family going home crying and it ain't gonna be mine.
Now, sounded good that he said that,
but you're fighting Canelo at the same time.
But you have to look.
I remember Pacquiao got knocked out
and his wife ran to the back,
because you know the cameras always seem
to find your family.
They know right where your family is at
when something's going good or bad, and then to put your family through They know right where your family is at when something's going good or bad
and then to put your family through that is pretty tough.
But I'm happy he's able to get back on the field.
I'm sorry, Murda, sorry.
No, that's exactly why I wanted you guys to go
because that's the sentiment I was coming from.
I'm truly concerned with him
because I think with the transition that he's taken
from player to being off the field,
that this might've been a wiser outcome to try to transition into football.
Maybe I don't know, it's financial and I'm not trying to dig into that pause,
but this is definitely something to consider because if something happened,
he hasn't been playing long enough to really be able to set his family probably for generational wealth,
like Mike was saying, but so this is a very sensitive topic
and I do wish him the best.
I wish he does extremely well,
but he might've missed an opportunity to transition
while everybody was in great sympathy
to just be in the front office or somewhere
where he could've made the same money
without the risk of losing his life
and leaving his family helpless.
Yeah, that's a great point.
Cause one thing, what I will say is this, Mason,
that's a super duper good point.
But, but, and there's no but to it.
No, it's good.
No, no, no, well I'm saying it isn't but to you.
But what I say is this,
this really is gonna be put on a Buffalo Bills organization
because if something does happen,
they're gonna be like,
who's doctors?
Was it this personal doctor?
Was it the Buffalo Bills doctors?
Who gave him permission to go back on the field?
You have a situation years ago
where Chris Bosh from the Heat,
he had to retire early because of blood costs.
He was crying and screaming a Pat Raleigh,
I could still play, I could get it done.
And they had to tell him, it's not gonna happen here
at the Heat organization because we can't take a chance
or something happening to you.
And then that's left on the Heat organization.
So for him to go back out there,
I don't know how many tests they may have put him through,
how many different doctors, but God forbid something happens
because that stain is on the Buffalo Bills
because that's the first thing gonna say,
who let him back out there?
In the NFL.
Yeah.
Yes, in the NFL.
In the NFL, because at first, you know,
when you see him on the sideline, you say,
okay, the NFL is trying to take care of their own.
They're showing, they're sticking with them.
They would have gotten crucified
if they had just released him or he didn't make the team.
I believe that next year you do use people up
and then toss them when they go through that kind
of situation, that kind of predicament.
There's no way you could have done that.
So you put them back on the sideline
and now he's earned his way back into the starting lineup.
So, yeah, this is farther than I thought.
You know, it's not like a broken arm when you know the bone is healed.
Let's go. Right. You know, this is.
Yeah, this is something else.
It's respiratory. It's respiratory.
And thinking of that, the NFL is definitely, you know they got their paperwork in order covering themselves.
The Bills gotta be covering themselves.
When somebody get hurt to this magnitude,
everybody is trying to say, okay, now if you're a plate,
you know you have to sign this waiver
that we're not responsible.
The NFL is doing the same.
So it kind of put it in a real awkward situation.
Yeah, and yeah, absolutely. You're right. Yeah, no. So it kind of put it in a real awkward situation.
Yeah, and yeah, absolutely. You're right.
Yeah, no.
I guarantee you, the NFL has put their doctors on this too.
They will not just trust Buffalo Bill's doctors.
Right.
Every doctor that's within those three letters,
NFL is looking at what's going on here
and putting there and putting it.
Yeah, absolutely right.
Both of you guys.
But we're in a society where if you have a smartphone,
you have an opinion.
It's like an asshole if you got, everybody got one, pause.
So NFL could cover their ass
and the Buffalo Bills cover their ass.
And it may, like I said, this is all God forbid
if anything happens.
But it'll probably linger for a while,
but people are gonna go crazy
because you have a phone and you get to give your opinion
and say, I don't care what the NFL say,
but even though they may not be legally viable
for what happened, people will be in the outrage
for a little while.
And hopefully none of this stuff
that we're talking about happens to you.
We pray we have like 15 more years of football.
Absolutely.
I do just wanna add really quick though,
that's why I feel like the athlete mentality
is so interesting, even down to Mike,
what you shared when you used to play,
because the decision doesn't come down to the Bills,
it doesn't come down to the NFL,
at the end of the day it comes down to Damar Hamlin,
he's playing because he wants to play.
So I'm hoping he has a phenomenal season.
It's great that he's able to start,
but I think we all have, you know, that cause for concern,
but we're all wishing him the best,
hope he has a great season
because we want to see him play again.
And Mike, before we go to the next situation,
how do you think defense or people that's playing against him is looking at him when
it's time to tackle him or things like that?
I mean, on offense.
Right, right.
When DeMar is coming up to make that tackle like you're talking about, that's kind of
how it happened.
Or you have to block him and everything.
You know, it'll be hard.
And I don't know, it'll be ruthless even thinking
that you're not going to have that thought in mind. You know, when I played, I'm a physical
receiver, right? I want you to line up over me the first few plays so I can put my hands on you.
And I mean, really put my hands on you. I ain't trying to catch no pass. I just want you, I just want to feel you, you know what I mean?
So, so, so now put Demar in front of me.
I'm going to alter that early in the game.
You see what I'm saying?
And I don't care who you are.
I want you here so I can put physicalness on you
and you can feel it.
Now, if I look up and that's Demar Hamlin,
I'm not going to do that.
I'm going to, so,, yes, it'll affect people.
It'll affect people. It won't change the game.
But maybe I'm not blocking so hard.
I'm just folding him up, stuff like that,
to make sure he doesn't make the tackle,
as opposed to just going into him.
Well, see, that was a great question, Mace.
I think that's a really good question.
That was a great answer, Mike.
But, see, what happens is this, Mike Mace. I think that's a really good question. That was a great answer, Mike.
But see, what happens is this, Mike,
what you just said, basically what you're saying is
you're gonna have a little bit of sympathy for him
if I'm hearing you right.
And I could. I can.
I ain't never been cut, never been traded,
won championships on every level.
Now that other fella who's only making 150,000,
200,000 dollars.
That's what I was gonna ask. Yeah. That's the old another world, right? on every level. Now that other fella who's only making 150, 200 thousand
dollars.
That's what I was gonna ask.
That's the whole nother world right there.
That's the question I was gonna ask.
You're right there, cause he gotta feed his family.
He's like, wait a minute, I got you too.
You know, that's a different thing.
Yeah, that's the question I was gonna ask
because the guy who's not making the money
and not financially stable, and then you start hearing,
you know, cause we live in the crew world,
you gonna let him do that to you,
you ain't catching nothing all game.
You start hearing all that.
And then, you know what I'm saying?
P like, yeah, you let him,
he ain't even all the way back in shape like that.
You letting him kill you like that.
Now you gotta start hearing that. You letting them kill you like that. Now you got to start hearing that.
Yeah.
And now it turns into something different.
Yeah.
You hear what I'm saying?
It turns into the old Harlem advice.
The nigga do it to you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm like, yeah.
You know?
That's the fact.
You know, Kelly would do it to you.
Yeah, that's the fact.
Yo, listen, he would do it to you.
Yeah. Yeah, that's what's happening. Yo, listen, he would do it to you. Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay. So, Bo Nix was named captain for the Broncos,
becoming the first rookie season captain since 1967.
Obviously, he was drafted 12th overall.
What do you guys think about this accomplishment?
And then how do you guys think Bo Nix in general
will perform this season?
Mike first.
Man, let me tell you something.
First of all, I knew Bo Nicks was going to be named starter.
You gotta look at the background before we bring to the forefront.
Like, okay, Sean Payton was the quarterback whisperer.
I mean, I wanted him here in Dallas, We love Sean. I still love Sean. And Sean took Drew Brees and took him to a great career, revived New Orleans after
Katrina won a Super Bowl. He was a quarterback whisper. Then he got Russell Wilson. And Russell
Wilson just shut his lips. No more whispering.
You're not the quarterback whisperer.
Because a quarterback whisperer can fix any quarterback,
and you couldn't fix Russell.
And then, you know, that thing.
That thing.
That thing.
That thing.
That thing is floating on the sideline, right?
So now, they go in the draft, man.
They bring in Zach and the other quarterback,
but they go and drive Bo Nicks.
I knew right then, this gives not just
the Denver Broncos opportunity to first round quarterback,
but it also gives Sean Payne a chance
to beat quarterback Whisper again.
If he takes a rookie quarterback, starts him, make him a captain,
and go and have a great season. Oh, look at the whisper now. You see what I'm saying? See,
we just gave the whisperer some bad clay and Russell Wilson, he couldn't shape it right.
So let it go. We gave him brand new clay and look at what he's developed. That's why I knew Bo Nicks will start.
Now I can't wait to see what happens this season.
Let me tell you why it works this way too.
Bo is more like Drew Brees.
What I mean by that is Bo Nicks, Drew Brees,
they are pre-snap quarterbacks, pre-snaps.
So when I come to the line of scrimmage, I already know
before the ball is snapped where I'm going with the ball. I already read the defense, I know what
coverage is there falling in, I know what route I got, I know where I'm going. Tom Brady does it all
the time. You know, they pre-snap quarterbacks. Russell Wilson is a post-snap quarterback.
See, the quarterback was supposed to be able to take
a post snap or a pre snap and make it great.
But that post snap stuff he couldn't work with.
Bo Nicks is a pre snap.
They'll have some success.
Hey Mike, what is your thoughts on making
a rookie quarterback the captain?
What effect does that have on the team?
Right.
But if his peer and the quarterback comes in very mature and handles himself in that
manner, you understand it and you can see it even if they're not already the leader
on the team, you can see it coming and And you put it on there, you put it on.
Now, if that guy has really no leadership ability
and you do that, then you risk destroying not just the team,
but certainly that player.
You know, you're putting him and telling him
and ask him to do things
that's not within him naturally to do.
Troy Aikman was very mature when he first got in
to the National Football League.
I thought he was a little bit too mature for me.
I was like, that dude's real, boy.
He's straight laid, straight laid.
I mean, straight laid, straight laid.
We were young rookies, man.
And we started winning and girls would break in the house
when you come home and there'll be people in your house
when you come home and Troy,
every time they broke in his house,
he called the police on them.
And we used to get on them in the locker room.
What? You called the police on them?
What they look like?
Oh, you'll call the police on that?
You know, that kind of thing.
You know what I mean?
That's how it's done.
That's how it's done.
Yeah!
Thank God she didn't pick my house,
because nobody go in the jail. I was like.
I was like.
I was like.
I was like.
I was like.
I was like.
I was like.
I was like.
So sometimes.
So sometimes.
You know, somebody goes wild.
Somebody on a tour like that.
I don't know about breaking in and out.
Somebody on a tour like that, it can handle it.
Right, right.
Some guys on a tour, it can handle it. He did the right thing. It can handle it. Right, right. So guys are maturing and handling it.
He did the right thing.
He called the police.
I was gonna call him,
hey, lock the door, dog!
We in here.
Shit.
Let me stop messing around.
Let me stop.
Hey, Mike.
I'm just messing around.
Mike, one more.
You ain't messing around.
You ain't lying.
You are not just messing around.
Let me tell you what, Kian,
let me tell you what I always say to people.
I say, no, no, no. I'm just bullshit, but I ain't lying.
I ain't lying.
Exactly.
That's exactly what I'm talking about.
Oh man, yo, Mike, yo, Mike, one more question.
What's the big significance between,
cause I'm not that savvy on this question,
but him being the first Broncos quarterback
to be named starter since Floyd Little of 19.
Yeah, rookie quarterback.
Yeah, it's just Elway started, right?
Oh.
He'd be the first one to start as a rookie
since I think Elway.
Yeah.
You know, and I saw what he was talking about.
I was first captain he was talking about.
First captain?
Right.
At first he was the first to have, yeah.
But I heard him talking about how much of an honor that is.
But that's why I said he's a mature guy.
Because even in that, he said it's an honor to have that,
but to have that distinction. But it doesn't matter unless I do something
with it.
You know what I'm saying?
Now, most guys, especially most young guys in this age, I always had confidence in myself.
I knew I'm going to be able to do things.
They would be talking more down that line, but he is like, no,
that's just the first step.
That doesn't say the job is done.
That's just the door opening.
Now I have to run through it and do something about it.
Yeah, I think when they made this decision,
this is like putting 30 on three realistically,
because it's putting way too much pressure on him,
Paul, to perform when you think of what he'll be up against,
because when you give him captain,
when you give him, you know, a rookie starter,
and you put the ball in his hands and tell him,
hey, go out there and make something happen,
when it doesn't happen, it looks crazy.
It looks really crazy that you put this much
on a rookie quarterback.
Yeah, but he'll have all the power, Maze,
because he's hand-picked by the head coach.
So all the power goes to the head coach.
Remember, this head coach just made them get rid of a guy
that they're paying 200-something million dollars.
And they're still paying them.
Right.
And Russell Wilson making $37 million this year.
And I think 34 of them coming from Denver.
You see them?
35 of them coming from Denver.
So the power that he has is unquestioned.
It's above reproach.
So he will have coach on his side.
Now, Caleb Williams get the same thing in Chicago.
They made him starter, made him a captain and everything.
And in Chicago, Chicago's never had a 4,000 yard passer.
So Chicago has to make this decision right now to try to get rid of some of their past decisions.
You know, they drafted Trubisky in 2011
when they could have gotten Deshaun Watson
or Patrick Mahomes, and you went with Ms. Trubisky.
Now, you got to put your head to pillow at night,
wake up with your toothbrush in the morning. how can you have any peace with yourself?
Everyday thinking, I took Mitchell Biscuit
over Patrick Mahomes.
You see what I'm saying?
There's no way you could ever have peace.
So Caleb Williams got to deal with all that pressure
to try to make it right for Chicago.
No, you sick. That's that same boy? No, that's, no, you sick.
That's that Sam Boy.
Yeah, that's you drafted Michael Jordan number three.
That's the same thing just about.
Right.
That's the same thing.
And add on to what you're saying.
Yeah, the Pittsburgh Steelers are paying
Russell Wilson $1.2 million this year.
Wow.
What I wanted to ask you,
Right, right.
Yeah, there's no frills prices.
So what I wanted to ask you, she's a stealer.
I said it was a good deal.
It was a good deal.
That's loving it like McDonald's.
Bah bah bah bah.
That got him off the dollar menu.
Yeah.
What I want to ask you, you two kind of covered a lot
just now, what I want to ask you Mike is this,
how important is the captain position on a football team?
See we play basketball, we never play organized football.
And to be totally honest with you,
we could care less of you the captain.
Like you wanna go talk to the referees?
You wanna go deal with all that?
I didn't really care about if the captain,
the captain is not necessarily the star in basketball.
When it comes to basketball,
if you wanna be that guy who got deal with all that,
go ahead and do it.
I ain't gonna, I don't care about talking to the other guy
at the beginning of the game and talking about,
well, this the rules and all that.
That don't mean, that don't really mean
that you're the star player in basketball.
What does the captain mean in football?
Well, some of what you talked about
is apropos over here also.
Because you wanna make the captain, the guy to make the best decisions in those crucial
situations.
You see, because he's going to be talking to the ref, we'll take this, we'll take that.
But a captain, I think what you're trying to intimate and get at is, you can be a captain
and not necessarily be the real leader of a football team.
Exactly, that's what I want to know.
You see what I'm saying?
Right.
Right, because sometimes a captain is a captain,
but he doesn't want to talk.
And a leader, and it doesn't want to be a vocal leader.
And you have to have those things.
I can tell people, appoint the people and say,
hey, be like him as much as I can.
But sometimes I just got to get in your ear and say,
Joke, you got to give up some more.
You got to do more.
You know, you got to talk.
You have to be able to talk.
So sometimes those two can separate.
They don't always have to commingle.
Exactly. That's what I was wondering.
Captain is really like the guy who runs back
and telecoach and all that.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
He get touching the lines when you run.
Exactly, exactly.
He go all the way down, he keep curfew on the road.
Yeah, that's what I was trying to say.
Like, yo, how important to count,
because we used to let whoever,
why you can be the captain,
you want to go talk at halftime and keep everything organized.
That don't necessarily mean you the star of the team
or the leader like Mike said.
Nobody, right, right.
Right, it don't mean everybody gonna listen to you.
It's just what it is.
Exactly.
I mean, I do wanna add though,
him being named the first rookie quarterback
in that many years, it does instill confidence in Bo Nix
cause obviously he, Sean Payton really likes him.
He can run his offense. His teammates like him.
They're describing him as a team player.
And then even just for Bo Nix,
like, he does have a lot of experience in college.
So, he started 61 games between Auburn and Oregon,
which is the most in NCAA history, by a quarterback.
So, just by default, it's very fitting
that Bo Nix got this position, and I'm happy for him.
So, I'm excited to see what he does in his first game. This is Seahawks. I don't really that Bo Nix got this position. And I'm happy for him. So I'm excited to see what he does in his first game.
This is Seahawks.
I don't really like Bo Nix because I don't like what he did to Dion and them last year.
To be totally honest with you, I had a little attitude with him.
He was ringing, though.
Yeah, he was ringing.
That's another that's another thing, Mike.
We talked about. Yeah, now that we got you here.
The University of Miami got a nine year senior on the team.
Ninth year.
Do you think that's fair?
Do you think that's fair?
Tight end, tight end, the tight end.
So you know, you already know what's going on too.
Which how do you feel about this?
Yeah, I know what's going on.
Come on now.
Y'all gonna let Alabama and Georgia get away with all that.
Dude, if we come up and get back to some place,
now you wanna start coming up.
Miami, come on man, y' want to start talking about my enemy.
Come on, man, y'all.
The rules are the rules.
These last nine years, we've gone through a lot of things.
COVID gave you one or two more years.
And then, unfortunately for him, and seriously,
DuCam makes...
If you guys haven't heard his story,
go watch his story, dude.
He's had, I don't know how many surgeries, because every time he keeps coming back, he
loses his Achilles, his knee.
So he never gets to play those, it never gets to play because he gets hurt in preseason
and all of those things.
So they kept granting him the years.
It really is an incredible story.
But yeah, nine years. Nine years is a lot of years. You will grow mad out there with them.
Yeah. Listen, when I played basketball, I got hurt. I get one year for redshirt. That's it.
In 1994, I got one redshirt year. You get hurt again, you don't get two red shirt years.
I don't know when this rules started changing
and everything else, but I don't hear you know-
In COVID.
Oh, so in COVID-
In COVID.
So not just COVID, what I'm saying is this,
I understand you get an extra year or two for COVID,
but injuries, you get to take three, four years off
for injuries as well?
Well, if, yeah, if you're going through those kinds
of devastating injuries that he's had,
I mean, he's had some pretty devastating injuries.
I talked about one time quitting and not wanting to play
and then he said, mom convinced him to go one more time,
he go in and coach throws him a ball early in the game,
first play, breaks another leg or Achilles or something he go in and coach throws him a ball early in the game,
first play,
breaks another leg or Achilles or something and back out.
But he said that one play gave him the taste to try again,
because he was tired of having all the surgeries.
I mean, he's had probably about 10, 12 surgeries, you know?
So, so yeah, I look at that side of the story.
I look at that side of the story.
And right now, with that transfer portals and NIL money,
you're getting a lot of old to do.
We just talked about one, Bo Nix,
he's been hanging around there for a long time too.
I don't see y'all risk with Bo Nix.
No, that's the reason that we brought it up.
We said Bo Nix was ringing.
That's what made me remember about the U
because we talked about it yesterday, but you're absolutely right. That's what made me remember about the youth because we talked about it yesterday,
but you're absolutely right.
That's what made me, just reminded me
because we said Bo Nicks was ringing as well.
I don't care what you say, my injury, no injury.
Niggas is ringing.
You can't feel good to be 26 years old,
tackling 18 and 19 year olds.
You can't go home and say, yeah, I did my thing tonight.
Nah, man, you didn't.
You didn't, man.
You're tackling 18 and nine heroes.
We sat here and named, yesterday you wasn't here,
we sat here and named at least five or six,
if not all-stars, super, super good players,
25 and under in the NFL right now.
I don't know, I can't give them,
I don't care what you say about the story, Mike.
It sound good, the Achilles and all that.
I got one red shirt year in 1994
when I played college basketball.
You don't get three, four years.
And now what you trying to do is,
only thing we was missing was the violence.
Did you hear the story though?
I did hear the story.
Yeah. I did. I did. Did you hear the story though? I heard the story. Yeah.
Yeah, Mike.
I heard the story.
That's all he was missing was the organs and the balance, man.
I wouldn't use this.
Let me ask you.
Are you telling me, are you telling me that if that kid didn't have you on the side of his helmet,
I wouldn't see that story quite the same?
Exactly, that's exactly what I'm telling you.
I'm exactly telling you that.
100%. 100% I'm telling you that.
That's exactly what I'm telling you.
You might have been telling,
you might have cursed him out if he went somewhere else.
Let it be Ohio State or Michigan,
you might have cursed him out, man.
Right, I'd be up there with the pants on,
no way he's gonna win with my arms on,
that's for another reason.
That's a fact, that's a fact.
Yeah, I'm ready.
At the end of the day, Mike, it's okay,
because we still won, so what anybody has to say is this.
You know what's crazy?
You know what's crazy?
You know what's crazy, yesterday, Mike's crazy? You know what's crazy?
Yesterday, Mike, cause like I said, y'all both alumni.
She told me that they've been playing good
and they're 1 and 0.
I don't understand what kind of playing good.
We are, it was a great game.
We playing good.
We playing good.
You're 1 and 0, okay, relax that.
You too, Mike, I see you wanna say something too.
Relax, man. Right, I love that. I love that. You too, Mike, I see you wanna say something too, relax, man.
Right, right, I love that.
I love that, I love that for us.
I love that for us, we all want it.
And yo, hey, I saw it circulating on social media
where Cam Ward was out with Shador Sanders
and they were throwing,
and the guys were talking about how hot it was,
and Cam was talking about hot.
Man, come on, man.
Let's get this work in, man.
Let's get this work in.
I was like, man, that's what Cam sound like.
He sound like, he sounds like the guys that,
way back in the day, Howard Snellenberg came to get us
out the ghetto.
We didn't care about how hot it was.
We knew how hot it was in that ghetto.
Let's go play some football.
Cause we trying to get out of that.
I love that dude's attitude, man.
I'm telling you, he's going to take us somewhere.
This is exactly what I'm talking about.
This right here, because you're acting like somebody say,
it's hot out, let's get this working.
That is some drastic story, Mike.
It's not that story you could have kept that.
Come on, Mike, stop, man.
Come on, Mike. People work out Mike stop man. Come on Mike.
People work out in the heat everyday Mike.
Mike they work out in the heat everyday.
He's a good storyteller.
He's a good storyteller.
Yo I heard it was hot out and Kev said,
yo we gonna stay out here in this heat man.
That's what we gonna do.
And we gonna throw these balls.
He gonna take us to Mike come damn it.
In Miami.
In Miami it In Miami.
Let me tell y'all why that's important, though.
You know, those jokers today,
they don't go out for real workout.
They go out for content for their social media.
They be doing all these old fancy workouts.
I said, that won't help you in the four quarter
when I line up across from you and bust your ass.
It will help you, it looks cute.
It looks cute, but it will help you.
So, so, so, so, so I like when I see a dude
really trying to put in work and he's just not trying
to get content, if you know what I mean.
I ain't gonna lie.
You got a point. You got a point.
You got a point with that
because everything has got to be social media related
especially in the AAU circuit in basketball.
Okay.
So we're gonna go to break.
When we return, we will get into our week one
NFL game predictions.
Don't go anywhere.
She called us thing about toxic.
Four years and counting, got you feeling like option, maybe I'm on my own problem babe, she tired of hearing I don't know, what's happening
in me won't fall, oh oh, dealing with this thing called trust, but she really thinking Welcome back. Now let's get into our underdog fantasy picks of the day. So we got a Florida
matchup. The Jaguars will take on the Miami Dolphins this Sunday. Underdog fantasy has
Trevor Lawrence at one and 1 half passing touchdowns.
Do you have him higher or lower Mace?
Higher.
Higher.
OK, Christian Kirk is at 55 and 1 half receiving yards.
Do you have him higher or lower, Kim?
Lower.
Lower.
OK, and Tyreek Hill is at 97 and 1 half receiving yards.
Higher or lower Mace?
I'm going to go higher.
He might get that two catches higher.
Okay, make sure to use code MACEKIM or STAT.
You can get a first deposit match up to $1,000.
So download the Underdog Fantasy app
and you can make your picks too.
It's $1,000, y'all.
Okay, and we are joined back with our analyst, Michael Irvin.
Yeah.
Okay, so it's week one.
Let's just get into our NFL game predictions because I want to see who you guys think will
win.
So I've chosen five games.
We're going to do this every week and I'm going to keep tally of what you guys choose
so we can see who has the best predictions by the week.
So let's start with the season opener.
Because Mase used to lie and act like he was beating me for us last year.
Let's keep this record, man.
Mike, you see what I go through?
Yo, Mike, let me tell you.
We need enemies, Mike.
Mike, let me tell you something,
because you're new to the show, it's your first week.
As the weeks go on, whatever team's winning,
Mase is gonna wear the colors and act like that's his team
or that's what he knew was gonna win.
He's gonna match his outfits accordingly
to whoever's successful throughout the year.
Keep an eye on him, just giving you a heads up.
So for this season, we're definitely keeping track
because I wanna see who wins.
So obviously the season opener
is the Ravens versus the Chiefs.
Mike, who do you think will win this first game?
Come home, Mike.
My prediction on that Ravens-Chiefs game?
Yes. Yes.
Oh, Ravens-Chiefs now, here is,
this is first game, of course, of the season,
and I think this is a crucial game.
I always look at what they can do physically, but
also what you're going through emotionally.
And in this game, I'm going to pick the Ravens to win this game.
There's no way the Ravens can go through this season after leading Kansas City,
knock them off in the AFC Championship game.
And you cannot lose this game.
So I know you'll be able to be ready to play.
They'll play physical and hopefully catch Kansas City early
because there'll be a problem later.
Mike, I thought you was gonna come home, Mike.
Title town will be the winner of that game.
There's no way I could go with the Ravens over my team.
You know, we back.
We is crazy.
Mike, all of a sudden also, just so you know,
Mase is always some type of way.
His team are the champions.
Some type of way.
His team, basketball, football, some type of way.
The Ravens is his team.
I know this kid since I was eight years old
and I haven't heard till last year
that the Ravens are his team.
No, the Chiefs.
I mean, pardon me, I'm sorry.
I'm so, so, so sorry.
The Chiefs are his team.
I apologize.
I have no idea how this became his team until last year
and they had a couple championships underneath his belt.
I asked him who was the quarterback before Pat Mahomes.
He couldn't even tell me Alex Smith.
He can't tell me the coach before anybody,
but before Andy Reid was there.
It's nothing he could tell me.
He told me none of that matters.
I don't talk in interrogation, killer.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, Mike. I don't talk in interrogation.
Don't ever say anything.
Even if you think you know the answer,
just wait till the lawyer get there.
Yeah, thank you Mike.
Thank you Mike.
Florida boy to Florida boy, Mike.
I forgot, I got three Floridians against me up here, man.
It's crazy, I forgot about that.
I'm gonna have to agree with Mike though.
I think that, I'm gonna have to agree with Mike.
I think the Ravens are gonna win this game.
One thing I will say, it's just about that boy,
Patrick Mahomes, he has, I know he light skinned,
but he act like a dark skinned nigga.
You know what I'm saying?
Like that kid has the heart of gold.
I've been wanting to say that on TV for so long.
But yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Go ahead and say it, Mike.
Go ahead and say it.
Go ahead, man.
All right, I'm glad you said it.
I've been wanting to say it for a long time.
I'd be like, I better not right now.
Yeah.
Yeah, that nigga, that nigga Pat Mahomes
act like a dark skinned nigga, man.
That nigga, he got something.
That kid sit on the sidelines,
pace can't wait to get the ball.
That year, Mike, when they played the Bills,
in that last two minutes of that overtime,
he sits there, and that's what I started liking
Josh Allen a lot as well.
They had a shootout, and Josh Allen never got the ball back.
But never got scared. I think they had a shootout, and Josh Allen never got the ball back. But never got scared.
I think they scored a field goal,
and he got the ball with 13 seconds left,
and got him up to like the 35 yard line
with 13 seconds left.
And I'm like, who is this nigga?
You know what I'm saying?
But to agree with Mike said,
I think Lamar Jackson is an official dark skinned nigga.
He's a dark skinned nigga, it's just that,
cause one thing I will say Murda,
is he walked right up in San Francisco last year
and took the fucking MVP right out of my fucking party
and McCaffrey's heads, cause they were leading for the MVP.
He went up there and took that shit.
I agree with Mike, they gotta win this game early.
Everybody in the AOC win the Patrick Mahomes era.
And that goes for Josh Allen,
that goes for Joe Burrow,
and it goes for Lamar Jackson.
Until y'all do something about this light skin
that's really a dark skinned nigga,
y'all are gonna be in his shadow.
Now this is like Mike just said,
I think that sometime Kansas City,
they turn it up in the middle of the season.
Losing this game, if Kansas City loses this game,
I don't think this affects their Super Bowl chances
whatsoever, but I think that the Ravens
need to make a statement.
Okay, and then this Friday, the Packers will play the Eagles.
Mike, who do you believe will win that game?
Man, they had me today on the show, give the Eagles.
Yo, Mike, Mike, by the way, real quick,
whatever show you want so people know where you at.
Well, I'm gonna speak.
Okay.
You know, it's two to four specific time,
and I guess that's what, four to six Central,
five to seven Eastern time.
Got you.
You know, so yeah.
And today on the show, I had to give Philadelphia Eagles a pep talk.
Get them up. Get it right, the Philadelphia Eagles.
I do believe that pep talk will get them right, if you know what I'm saying.
That fired up pep talk will get them right, and they'll win'm saying. That's why I don't set the phone. We'll get them right and they'll win
this football game on Friday night.
I'm going with the Eagles as well.
I think between Jalen Hurts and the new additions,
it's just probably gonna be too much for the Packers.
I'm gonna go with the Eagles, but I did like-
It's a hard game. Yeah, I was about to say, I like the way I'm gonna go with the Eagles, but I did like-
It's a hard game.
Yeah, I was about to say, I like the way
the Packers ended their season last year.
Yeah, love.
Yeah, yeah, Jordan Love, he looked really impressive
towards the end of the season,
but I do believe that Jalen Hurts heard a lot of whispers
last year and said the year before was a fluke.
I think he was injured a lot last year
and he has a lot to prove.
And I think Saquon Barkley's also gonna add
a security blanket for Jaylen Hurts.
So I'm gonna go with the Philadelphia Eagles as well.
Okay, and then on Sunday, the Lions will play the Rams.
Mike, what's your prediction for that game?
This is real and this is true, man.
And I know it sounds funny, even when it rolls off my tongue
and past my lips, but Detroit Lions are serious Super Bowl
contenders.
They should have been in the Super Bowl last year
because they had San Francisco 49ers on the rope.
They just got out of hand and they kept just a little bit
too aggressive right there.
But I'm taking Detroit to win this football game.
Detroit reminds me a lot of that young Dallas Cowboy team, you know,
that I was on when we turned that corner.
They got those kinds of players.
I really like what the NFL is doing by making these some of the first games.
It's like they're taking a page out of the NBA
and making sure that we see the teams play that get us really excited about the football season.
Right.
And I think it's going to be great for the city of Detroit, for all the hoods,
for every barbershop, salon, the wing stop, everywhere for Detroit to win. I look forward to Detroit going all the way,
I mean, right there before the championship.
Well, they're the four favorite right now
to win the championship.
And I agree with what you just said.
When you say what you just said about basketball,
it's storylines.
You got Jarek Goff, still got an attitude
because the first year Matt Stafford goes there,
they win the championship.
So now it's a chip on his shoulder.
And to be honest with you, I love Dan Campbell.
I love his attitude, the head coach,
for our audience that doesn't know,
that's the head coach of the Lions.
You know, he lost last year, and this is before the playoffs,
he was folding a cup up and was ready to break it.
He has a good attitude, but Dan Campbell,
I'll tell you this, don't let your ego get you so wrapped up
that you start doing dumb shit,
going on and forth down when you know you're in bad field.
He, you know what I'm saying?
Like he makes-
He got too aggressive.
He got too aggressive in a bad situation
because of his ego and he like, well, we're Detroit.
Mr. New Detroit.
Don't get caught up in that because you could have been
in the next round, fucking around,
playing them type of games.
But if you stay, if you stay poised
and make some good decisions,
Dan Campbell, I think you're a hell of a coach,
you have a hell of a football team,
and you make the right decisions.
I think, like Mike just said,
at least the NSC conference minimum for the Detroit Lions.
But I'm gonna take the Detroit Lions in this game.
Okay, and then we got two more games.
So on Monday, the Jets will play the 49ers.
Mike, what's your prediction for that game?
You know, it makes you right, man.
These matchups right here,
that matchup right there is a great matchup.
Cause you're going to have that 49ers defense
who's given Ann Rogers problems before
when he's been in Green Bay.
And now you got the New York Jets who everybody's been waiting a whole year to see this whole
package coming together on a football field.
I'm taking the 49ers to win that football game, but Ann Rogers is going to fight you
tooth and nail to try to win that game.
Cause he's not just fighting for himself in the jets.
He's fighting all of that old stuff,
that good cuts over there in Green Bay.
He wants to make sure I want to show you,
like Tom Brady showed,
I want to show you like Peyton Manning showed,
their old organization that we still got something,
that I still got something in me and go win a Superbowl with the next organization like they did.
So yeah, I'm expecting the Rogers to play well, but still lose that game.
Yeah, I concur.
I'm going with, I'm definitely going with, with on the 49ers.
I feel like since they lost in the championship, they definitely got to hit
the ground running and they got to and they got to win in impressive fashion
to let people know that they're back.
I'm gonna go with the Jets.
I'm gonna go with the Jets.
Is that why you wearing the green?
I'm not you, Murda.
I'm not you.
I'm not you.
I'm not you.
And to be honest with you, I'm not you, Murda. I'm not you. I'm not you. I'm not you. I'm not you. And to be honest with you, I'm not you.
I just thought that I look good in this today.
One of my females told me, Kim, I like you.
Yeah, one of my females told me she liked me in green.
That's that money.
I said, that's what I like.
I had nothing to do with the Jets.
I'm not a Jet fan.
And I'm a New Yorker, of course, but I'm not a Jet fan.
This is what I have to say.
Of course, the 49ers should win this game
because we have zero anklet
what Aaron Rodgers is gonna do.
He doesn't play pre-season.
He doesn't come to practice.
He wasn't in training camp.
Yeah, he's doing interviews saying the world is flat.
He's lying about getting his COVID test.
He's smoking weed.
He's on Joe Rogan's show doing wild shit.
So you may be thinking,
Aaron's a lot wider. His life is over at this point.
But one thing for sure, two things for certain,
before Patrick Mahomes, it was arguable,
and it's still arguable,
because Patrick Mahomes got some time,
I mean, Patrick Mahomes had a lot more time,
but not including the championships,
you're gonna say championships Tom Brady,
but he was arguing Aaron Rodgers
was the greatest quarterback to play the game.
And that's an argument among certain aficionados in the NFL.
He's an amazing quarterback.
Right.
I think Aaron Rodgers knows
that he hasn't been seen playing football.
I think he's doing this all on purpose,
saying, I've been the training camp.
It's not gonna make a difference.
I don't want you to see me in a preseason.
Not gonna make a difference.
If he's on the same page with his offensive coordinator,
his receivers and offensive line, the running backs, and everybody he needs to be in tune with, they're gonna be a difference. If he's on the same page with his offensive coordinator, his receivers, and offensive line, the running backs, and everybody he needs to be in tune with, they're
going to be a problem. Not only that, Aaron Rodgers is really going back home to play.
The game is in Cali. He's from over there. He's up around that area. Aaron Rodgers won't
go home and do his thing. That's his house. So I'm going to go with you, Aaron. Prove
me right.
You mentioned Alex Smith. You mentioned Alex Smith a long time ago.
You know AA.
And Rodgers, he wanted that job.
He was supposed to get drafted into San Francisco.
The only thing that gives me pause about this game,
though, guys, the only thing that gives me pause
is San Francisco's had so many of their top players out
all camp long.
I just got back.
Trent Williams just signed.
And this is a physical football team.
And when you're a physical football team,
you can't be physical in game one
because you haven't been on the practice field
and hit your body enough.
And that's where the Jets may have an upper hand.
And I'm telling you right now,
the Jets are going to play hard
because they want to win that game
and keep the hope up in New York
Mike are you switching up midstream?
No, no, no, no, no, I'm not leaving Cal Shanahan
Cal Shanahan boasting all of them that I know the fact that mission about them being physical that is true
But this this is a mastermind Kyle Shanahan is a mastermind
Why you think Brandon I you didn't really want to go Brandon I you came out the other day came out today saying I
Made it look difficult and towards the end of the negotiations and I was saying, you know what he means
He wouldn't we talked about getting traded and all of that. They said oh, okay
I tell you what,
we gotta trade with New England.
Then his agent called New England and said,
man, it's gonna take $10 billion for us to come over there.
Y'all gonna give it to us.
So, right, right.
And his agent called Pittsburgh and told him,
we gonna need you to name that stadium,
Iowa Stadium, for us to come over there.
You see, so he never really wanted to go anywhere.
He's smart enough to know, I need to stay with that mastermind
in Kyle Shanahan so I can get me some plays in here.
Smart. Okay, and then last but not least,
the Cowboys will play the Browns on Sunday.
Mike, your prediction?
Well, this one I feel real good about right now.
I'm just saying, you know, we still...
Let me just tell you. Let me just say this now.
If Nick Chubb was back, oh, if Nick Chubb was back,
that's where Dallas gets hurt is in the run game.
Chubb's going to miss the first few games of the year,
you know, while he continues to rehab
from that gruesome knee injury.
So, and Deshaun Watson, you know,
he hadn't really been Deshaun Watson just yet.
And I hope he doesn't become that Sunday.
He can wait till next, you know, after the next one,
so I can do it the next Sunday or whatever,
but just not this Sunday, you know?
But I'm taking Dallas to win that game.
And I think Dallas wins that game rather handily,
to tell you the truth.
Yeah, I'm going with Dallas too.
I'm afraid that they're actually gonna play good
one game of the year.
One game of the year.
I think Deshawn, I'm going with the Cleveland Browns. What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it?
What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? What year is it? his hand jobs, because that's when he plays good. When he plays good. Mike, yeah, that's it.
He's talking like this guy.
What?
I don't know where that would end.
Last year, they clogged him up.
Let me just say this.
Let me just say this.
He getting that already into massage.
Right, right, right.
And I'm just saying this because y'all my boys,
y'all know I love y'all, man.
But ever since they bust in that hotel room,
I was never the same.
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was...
I was... I was... I was... I was... I was... They just took a little something out of me like, Derm, who's going to mess with that?
Hey, it's been 30 years now.
I guarantee you they'd be like,
boy, we would, let's do a show, leave Mike alone now
if he just bring us some championships again.
You know what I'm saying?
We'll leave you in the hotel room and pass right by.
We'll put the do not disturb sign on the door for you.
Do not disturb him.
Let him go.
You know what I'm saying?
So, yeah.
They might've got, you might've got two more Super Bowls,
you saying?
Man, I ain't mad.
They just back up.
They would say, man, yeah, I could've got you two more.
Could've easily got you two more, man.
Everybody had their own.
Mike crazy.
I'm just saying.
I ain't mad.
This is, and this is my point.
That's what I'm trying to say.
They might have said, yo.
Who, you're right.
Say yes.
No, what I'm saying is Cleveland might have been like,
we might need to let him do what he gotta do.
Do his pregame ritual.
Get his pregame ritual.
Because it might be postgame.
And we don't know when it is,
but I know what these,
you know what I don't like,
real quick before I get into why Cleveland's my pick,
but you know what I don't like fellas about this situation
is because it wasn't until he wanted to be traded
that all these rumors start coming up.
And when he said he wasn't coming back,
he wasn't gonna practice, et cetera,
I think Houston said hit the button.
Houston said, yeah, let him out the woodwork.
I believe the tech camp.
No, you're right, Cam.
You're right, but nobody, but see, that's it.
And that's what I even try to explain
to my sons and everything, like listen, man,
nobody's waiting to hear the truth.
Nobody's waiting to hear that.
They want the sensationalism of the story.
Yet nobody knows that the lawyer for all of those girls
were a very good friend of the owner.
Right. Very good friend of the owner.
Yes. You know what?
So it's not like all of those girls rushed to his door.
They went and knocked on those girls' doors
because they had the information of all the people.
He was, you know, he got it from the team too.
I'm gonna get out of it, I'm clean, I'm clear.
Let me leave it alone.
Let's talk about something else.
Let's get out of there.
No, but listen, you know because you know.
But there's truth to that.
There's truth to what you're saying.
Right, and it wasn't hard to tell.
It was well obvious.
Oh, so when he wants to leave,
it's 29 masseuse out the woodwork.
And if it was a problem, first and foremost,
ladies, if y'all felt disrespected, I apologize.
I'm not sitting here saying that y'all were lying.
We don't wanna to say it.
And we're not victims shaming.
Yeah, we're definitely not victims shaming.
I just want to point the timing of how everything went.
Back to my pick.
I think Cleveland, I think Deshaun Watson
wants to make a statement.
Not only that, I think that Amari Cooper
won't be like, yeah, y'all niggas
ain't gonna give me that money.
Yeah, Dallas.
Y'all think CD Lamb's the new one.
Y'all forgot who I am.
I bet, I can't wait to act crazy on y'all.
Mari Cooper do your thing, Deshaun Watson do your thing.
I'll be watching, Ohio will be in the building.
Yeah, shout out to Coach Callahan and the York family.
There you have it.
Okay, well Mike, it was a pleasure
to have you on the show today.
Mike, thank you so much, man.
Man, man, I love it, man.
I love being with you guys.
Likewise, we love having you up here, man.
Mike, pull up to Vegas.
All right.
Yeah, come up here soon, man.
What you waiting for?
I'm telling you, I'm coming now.
All right.
We'll see you next week, man.
I'm coming, trust me, I'll be there.
All right, man.
All right, now, stay on.
Okay, that's all the time that we have for today.
Thanks for watching.
And as always, it is what it is.
